Sounded amazing! I drank a shit load of beer. What a treat to hear De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas live. The crowd was scary as shit and my ears are still ringing.

Once we got in, the first opening band Black Anvil only took a few minutes to take the stage, once they started i was immediately in the mood for the show, they were a great opener and got the crowd in a good mood. About 10-15 minutes after they finished up Inquisition came out to an already packed crowd in the Ballroom. Inquisition completely blew me away, so much so that I bought their new album on vinyl, and a T-Shirt. About 20 minutes of setting up the stage later the theatrics started for Mayhem, and when Funeral Fog kicked in the place went crazy, with a huge pit taking up around half the floor. Mayhem was incredible and it was truly a once in a lifetime kind of show.

The Norwegian black metal band Mayhem are one of the heaviest bands I have seen live, but I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the stylised vocals, to the constant shredding of the guitar, and their quirky props such as a skulls head, the show was electric and exciting. Since the release of the EP back in the late 80s, they’ve had a loyal following, many of whom were at the concert I saw them at. Their experimental elements of the black metal make their shows exciting and innovative, and also won them an award for their album Ordo Ad Chao.

They opened the show with a lengthy instrumental performance that I hadn’t heard before, which really got the audience in the spirit for the show. It’s always great to hear new material by talented musicians, and this went down really well. Their set and costumes were also visually incredible, and added to the performance, putting an element of excited fear in the audience.

They played a selection of tracks from Ordo Ad Chao, as well as many from their newest album, Esoteric Warfare, which was epic to hear after such anticipation of the new album. The band put on a brilliant show, which really blew everyone away.

Mayhem kicks off North American Tour, new live album Daemonic Rites out now – News

October 2, 2023 News

Mayhem US Tour, live album Daemonic Rites out now

True Norwegian black metal pioneers Mayhem hit the road for its highly-anticipated North American tour with Cannibal Corpse, Gorguts, and Blood Incantation . The extensive trek will draw the final curtain on October 21 in Louisville, KY. In addition, the band has just added two new dates without Cannibal Corpse in El Paso, TX and Tucson, AZ. Tickets can be found here while the full itinerary can be found below.

Mayhem is touring in support of its brand new monumental live album, Daemonic Rites , which was released on September 15, 2023 via Century Media Records. The record is a comprehensive look at the legendary band’s chaotic and intense performances from various cities around the world over the last two years. The album promises to be a thrilling sonic journey for fans and a testament to Mayhem’s unparalleled live prowess. The full album can now be streamed, downloaded, and ordered here .

“We wanted to document how great the band and set sounds like after almost 40 years of playing live,” Necrobutcher previously explained. “As a treat to our fans, we decided to release this live recording.

“I knew from day one back in 1984 that this band was going to be outstanding – one of the best bands ever! I guess that’s a big reason why we still are here after 39 years, and counting.”

Daemonic Rites marks the culmination of the Daemon era, which commenced in 2019 with the release of their critically acclaimed studio album, Daemon . The journey continued with the savage EP Atavistic Black Disorder in 2021, leaving audiences hungry for more. This latest live conglomeration serves as the ultimate chapter-closer for this landmark.

About Mayhem: Preeminent black metallers Mayhem ready their newest live strike with Daemonic Rites for Century Media. The 16-track effort captures the frightful efficiency and utter lethality of the Norwegians as they close the chapter on their exalted sixth album, Daemon (2019). Throughout Daemonic Rites , Mayhem impressively nail newer tracks like “Falsified and Hated,” “Malum,” “Bad Blood,” and “Voces Ab Alta” to the proverbial cross, while offering pure fucking mastery of classics like “Freezing Moon,” “Buried by Time and Dust,” “Deathcrush,” and “Carnage.” The devilish quintet also add mid-career haunts like “To Daimonion,” “Symbols of Bloodswords,” and “My Death,” making Daemonic Rites a genuine career-spanning offering.

“We released the live version of De Mysteriis [aka De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive ] a few years ago,” Ghul adds. “That was received very well. We have been playing together for so long now with this lineup that we feel we have reached a point where we are a seriously well-oiled machine. It seemed like a natural step to try to capture this moment in the band’s history, with the same setlist we have been using for a while.”

Mayhem have nearly 1,000 shows to their name. Since their formation in Langhus, Norway in 1984, the band – now comprised of Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila Csihar, Teloch, and Ghul – have brought their brand of bellicose, preternatural black metal to over 60 countries. From the United States and Germany to Australia and Brazil, Mayhem have stunned, bewildered, and turned rabid a global legion, dedicated as much to the band’s infamous legacy as they are staunchly in support of Daemon . Much of that respect and devotion started in the early ’90s, but persisted to the present day on the strength of official live albums Live in Leipzig (1993), Mediolanum Capta Est (1999), Live in Marseille 2000 (2001), and De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive (2016). Mayhem continue their on-stage assault with Daemonic Rites .

“For the first time in a long time, we felt again like a unit, musically,” continues Hellhammer. “That’s something we haven’t felt in a long time, and that shows in the live recording.”

Daemonic Rites wasn’t pre-planned. Rather, they had sound engineer/producer Tore Stjerna (of Necromorbus Studio fame) record everything – just for posterity, in fact – during the group’s Northern Ritual MMXXII and Thalassic Ritual tours of 2022 and early 2023. Mayhem and Stjerna pilfered the gems, resulting in gigs from London (“Life Eternal,” “Malum”), Manchester (“My Death,” “Silvester Anfang”), and Gothenburg (“Pure Fucking Armageddon,” “To Daimonion”) coming out on top. The penultimate Mayhem live album wouldn’t be complete without “Freezing Moon” and “Pagan Fears” – both from Csihar’s hometown of Budapest, Hungary – as well as newer tracks “Falsified and Hated” and “Bad Blood” from Sydney and Melbourne, respectively. Daemonic Rites showcases the two-time Norwegian Grammy (aka Spellemannprisen) winners at the pinnacle of their live potential.

“We play the songs that feel the best live,” Hellhammer says. “We have in the past tried out a lot of different songs from former eras, but when you play live for an audience, the songs must have IT. If they don’t, even if they are good songs, they won’t fit in a live setting.”

Adds Teloch: “We have a vast catalog by now, with so many different types of songs. It’s interesting to make them all work together in a full concert.”

Daemonic Rites comes off the heels of Mayhem’s incredible Beyond the Gates 2022 performance, where they uncaged cult classic De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas not far from where it was originally recorded by Eirik “Pytten” Hundvin (Enslaved, Emperor, Immortal) in Grieghallen during 1992/1993. The live album, however, was mixed and mastered over in neighboring Sweden. Stjerna, who also assisted with Daemon , took the phantasmagoric collection of tracks to his lair at Necromorbus Studio, where his sole job was to preserve Mayhem’s raw, unbridled energy and ghastly electricity. From “Falsified and Hated” and “My Death” to “Buried by Time and Dust” and “Carnage,” they’ve never had the quality of a live album quite like Daemonic Rites . If the past is always alive, this is a live album on par with Venom’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik , Emperor’s Emperial Live Ceremony , and Gorgoroth’s Black Mass Krakow 2004 .

“It fits with where we are now, or more precisely, where we were at the time of the recording,” says Hellhammer.

“[The live recordings] capture the spirit and energy,” furthers Ghul, “of where we are as a band right now.”

Indeed, Mayhem have been and continue to operate at a level not yet witnessed. While atavists will always relish the Deathcrush or Live in Leipzig lineups, Hellhammer’s drum performance against the twin terrors of Teloch and Ghul is the purest black magic on Daemonic Rites . Similarly, Csihar’s hair-raising caterwauling and spectral snarls atop Necrobutcher’s seventh-hell low end is witching-hour great! To support Daemonic Rites , Mayhem have videos for Daemon -era masterpiece “Malum” and late-’80s Killjoy dedication “Chainsaw Gutsfuck” lined up. Daemonic Rites is the perfect guillotine while the group craft new songs and conspire with others on what the group’s 40th Anniversary next year might entail. Mayhem are likely in their final form, and they’ve never been deadlier.

Mayhem Announce New Zealand Tour For 2023

Mayhem Announce New Zealand Tour For 2023

A name synonymous with diabolical sonic extremity, near-mythical Norwegian black metal group  Mayhem are journeying back to Aotearoa for a triple headline date tour, hitting Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in January 2023. Infamous subjects of director Jonas Åkerlund's 2018 film Lords of Chaos (adapted from the controversial 1998 book of the same name), Mayhem's lineup for the tour includes founding bassist Necrobutcher , drummer Hellhammer and vocalist Attila Csihar . Mayhem's uncompromising malevolent vision has captivated the imaginations of multiple generations of artists since they formed in 1984, resonating far beyond the metal underground to become one of the most iconic groups in any genre of the late 20th century — via such pioneering releases as 1987's Deathcrush EP and 1994's debut album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas . Make your pilgrimage with the metal hordes to the following dates...

Mayhem ‘Thalassic Ritual’ New Zealand Tour 2023

Thursday 26th January - Galatos, Auckland* Friday 27th January - 12 Bar, Christchurch Saturday 28th January - San Fran, Wellington

Tickets on sale HERE via UTR *Auckland tickets available HERE

Listen to Mayhem's classic 'Freezing Moon' from their 1994 debut studio album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas ...

Press release:

Far beyond legendary and a living monument to fearless creativity, MAYHEM have cast an icy shadow across the world of heavy music for nearly four decades.

Subversive students of the metal underground from the start, MAYHEM single handedly pioneered a new strain of black metal in their native Norway, taking the nascent genre by the scruff of the neck and hurling it into the pitch-black abyss.

Featuring iconic members Atilla Csihar, Necrobutcher and Hellhammer, and with the reputation of being one of the most controversial live acts to ever disgrace this planet, MAYHEM propel their latest rituals to Aotearoa this forthcoming January.

Jeff Letson Grabs Five Flags Modifieds of Mayhem Win

Jeff Letson passed Tim Moore with four laps to go while battling with lapped traffic to score the win in the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour event at Five Flags Speedway.

Zach Evans Headshot

Jeff Letson is now two-for-two with the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour in 2024, but Friday's win at Five Flags Speedway did not come without late-race drama.

Letson took the lead from Tim Moore with four laps remaining in the 50-lap event, completing the pass while both drivers negotiated their way around lapped traffic.

Letson acknowledge Moore likely had the better car on the night, but ultimately it was the Madison, Alabama native taking the win for the second time this season and the 11th time in his career with the Modifieds of Mayhem.

"Out front was the place to be," said Letson in victory lane. "He was actually better. We've got a little bit more work to do, really, when we're behind people like that. Awesome run, I enjoy racing those guys. They're awesome. My crew have really worked hard and put their minds together on everything lately. I couldn't do it without them.

Letson admitted it was tough working around lapped traffic at times, but understood they were in battles of their own.

"It was, but really, they were racing their race, too. You just had to find somewhere they weren't. You go to the top and it gets really slick, so you have to tip-toe around there. Everybody wants the bottom. I don't know what to say. It was a good run.

"I quit mashing the gas pedal as hard out of four trying to keep up with him and I started picking it up a little bit. Other than that, he was a good bit better, actually."

However, Moore couldn't help but feel a win had been taken away from him by what he felt was a lack of respect from the lapped traffic.

"All except one [driver]," said Moore. "He owed me one from Nashville last year, I guess. We'll deal with that later. I won in my eyes. I had the best car, checked out. The thing stayed under me the whole race. He'd catch me in lapped traffic and I'd pull back away. It's all good. We got a second-place finish."

Moore did take solace in a strong showing in the first race for his car since it had been rebuilt following a crash one year ago at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

"I destroyed this car the first race last year at Montgomery. From the ground up, it's all brand-new and this is the first race. It's a testament to what we did to get back to the track."

Defending Modifieds of Mayhem champion Jaxon Bishop finished third, giving him two podium finishes in as many races to start the year. However, Bishop said he's not looking for good points nights and is eager to get back in victory lane.

On Friday night, Bishop qualified fourth and started sixth following the redraw before finishing third.

"You just can't start in the back," said Bishop. "It is what it is. We raced hard. I felt like at one point we could have paced through them if it played out right. It just sucks having to qualify well and then work your butt off to drive from the back forward.

"We're just here to win. I'm getting tired of running third."

Jeremy Williams finished fourth, with Richie Smith rounding out the top five.

There were also three other feature races as part of Friday's racing program at Five Flags. Parker McDonald won in a close battle with James Patrick for the Dock of Pensacola Beach Sportsman to close out the evening.

Logan Boyett was credited with the win in the Faith Chapel Outlaw feature following post-race technical inspection. Derrick Griffin and Scooter Grice finished first and second on the track, but were both disqualified afterwards, turning the win over to Boyett.

CBS SF talks to Slayer guitarist Kerry King about his new band's debut album, upcoming tour

By Eddie Jorgensen

May 9, 2024 / 7:21 AM PDT / CBS San Francisco

For the uninitiated, Slayer's co-founding guitarist Kerry King has been at the forefront of thrash metal for almost four decades. With a style that encapsulates the finer moments of thrash, punk and metal, King's songs have been the soundtrack to many head-banging youths with such song staples as "Mandatory Suicide," "Hell Awaits," and "Raining Blood."

As the debut his new band's latest single "Idle Hands" proved, longtime Slayer fans didn't have to worry if the guitarist softened since Slayer's farewell tour back in November 2019. Said Kerry -- who ceremoniously left his trademark chains behind as he walked offstage at the last Slayer gig -- "I knew early on that I wasn't done, and I had no intention of not continuing to play."

Kerry King

With principle tracks recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles over the course of only two weeks, From Hell I Rise  was finished shortly thereafter. Featuring 13 blistering tracks including standouts "Crucifixation," "Toxic," "Residue," and the highly infectious "Tension," there isn't a dud to be found. And with song structures and topics that could only come from Slayer's axeman, this soundtrack to the apocalypse -- available on all formats on May 17th Reigning Phoenix Music -- is sure to incite riotous behavior and circle pits wherever the band performs.

Much more than a side project, Kerry King -- both the band and the man -- are on a mission and putting the group at the forefront of all conversations. While Slayer may have announced reunion appearances at a trio of festivals in the fall (including one at Aftershock 2024 in Sacramento ), King and his new band will be on the road as much as humanly possible. Started well before the pandemic, King has been a writing machine and, perhaps, even more prolific than during his full-time Slayer tenure.

And while there is much chatter going on about Slayer returning this year, From Hell I Rise  showcases one helluva line-up and is much more than a distraction from current events. Featuring some of Bay Area's best including longtime Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph (who also once played in Forbidden), guitarist Phil Demmel (formerly with Vio-Lence and Machine Head, who is also a member of the recently unveiled supergroup Category 7 featuring Armored Saint and former Anthrax frontman John Bush), and Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda along with bassist Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), there is more than enough firepower to appease even the most devout Slayer fan.

As luck would have it, the band will be supporting Lamb Of God and Mastodon on a stateside trek dubbed the "Ashes of Leviathan Tour" that sees them crisscrossing the U.S. starting July 19th in Grand Prairie, TX and then ultimately ending in La Vista, Nebraska at the close of August.

CBS SF:  Just finally listened to the new album as a whole and it's a great listen from top to bottom. How long have these songs been ruminating? Were any of these riffs meant for Slayer originally?

Kerry King: There are two complete songs on this album that were left over from 'Repentless' and they were even done lyrically then, but I wasn't thrilled with how they turned out. I put them back in my pocket until the next Slayer record, but there never was a next record, so that became part of my new record.  Some of these riffs, like the main body of 'Residue,' is probably over 20 years old. I could never find the parts to finish it. This time I was able to. It's one of those songs that I always knew I wanted to use, but didn't want to put it out prematurely. There's tons of stuff I wrote since Slayer was done. There's also tons of stuff I wrote since 'From Hell I Arise' was done, so record number two is shaping up nicely as well.

CBS SF:  Your band features a veritable who's who of the Bay Area metal scene. Why that area in particular?

Kerry King: I didn't think of it like that, but that's just how it panned out. I've known these guys -- especially, everybody from the Bay Area -- for decades.  All of them except Mark [Osegueda] needed work. Certainly Paul and I were out of work. Phil Demmel was also out of work, but he put his name in the hat very early and worked with us doing demos off and on. Every five or six weeks, he'd come down to play and we'd sound better.

Using the demos we had, Phil would send new ideas whenever had new material. Phil's an incredible player and Mark's one of the best singers in thrash metal, without question. The pulse of thrash definitely comes from there. We were a little displaced because we were in Southern California, but at the end of the day, so was Metallica.

I met Kyle in 2015 on the Mayhem Tour and we became friends very quickly. I knew that if I ever wanted a bassist, that's who I'd be calling. He's my East Coast connection. Paul's been working with me on and off since the early 90's, so the talent and the friendship is there. I'm happy I could help the guys out when they didn't have work. Right now, I get to go forward and show everybody what we got.

CBS SF: A full U.S. tour is already on the books. Do you plan to stay as busy with the KKB in 2025?

Kerry King: Absolutely. I would like to get something filled up between October and December 2024, but if the promoters think that's too early, then it will be soon after the New Year as business picks up again. Five weeks in Europe is very short for any kind of tour, be it festivals, or whatever. We want to go back and do a proper headline tour over there. We'll probably come to the States and do a proper headline tour or shift gears and put our other record out. We will be busy for sure.

CBS SF:  Do you prefer festivals over headlining dates?

Kerry King: That's difficult. I like both. If I had my choice, I would probably say a headlining date.  When you're doing festivals, you're just a pawn in a sea of bands that are there to entertain a mass of people, so there's too many cooks in the kitchen, so to speak.

CBS SF:  Any songs that didn't make the record?

Kerry King: Absolutely.  Within three months of Paul and I getting together, we had so many songs.  I said, "Hey dude, let's shift gears and finish the ones I've already got lyrics or titles for, or just songs making this record, so we aren't spinning our wheels and getting burned out." Before we called those songs, we made demos of them however far along they were at that point, and those are ones I'm going to readdress when I start working on stuff again. Actually, when I finally go on tour, during days off I'm going to really try to finish lyrics and stuff. When I come home and when the tour cycle is over, we can go right back in the studio and get more music out.

CBS SF:  Why no Bay Area show scheduled so far? Seems like your biggest market aside from Los Angeles and New York.

Kerry King: I'll bet that Lamb of God has played the Bay Area recently. There's no New York City show either, so I'm assuming Lamb of God had shows there awhile ago as well. We're playing the sheds in some B & C markets, but when we come back we'll be hitting the other places.

CBS SF:  What are your earliest memories of touring alongside Mark Osegueda previous to joining the band? What about Phil Demmel?

Kerry King: My earliest memories are all gone, because that was probably 40 years ago. I've known Mark since he was a teenager singing in Death Angel. I remember them opening for us because Mark always reminds me he did when he was not even 18 years old and still a kid. Beyond that, Death Angel did an opening run for us in around 2016 or 2017. Before that, it was basically different circles.

As far as Phil goes, I knew Phil in Vio-Lence, but really I don't remember that period either. We'd already toured with Machine Head lots and unless we were playing the same festivals and we turned up at the same place, I would never see him. However, every time if I was off and he came through or he was off and I came through, we'd hang to talk music and stuff.

CBS SF:  Have you worked with anyone else outside of your band that has music recorded for possible release someday?

Kerry King: No. This isn't a solo project. Kerry King [the band] happens to have my name on it. This is my band and will be until we decide no longer to be one. Hopefully, that's when we're all done and want to hang it up to go sit on our porch and watch a bucket of grass grow. These are my guys now, so get used to them.

Former President Donald Trump talks about immigration, economy in Waukesha: recap of Wednesday's rally

Former President Donald Trump was in Waukesha Wednesday for his second rally of the presidential campaign in Wisconsin, speaking at the Waukesha County Expo Center.

Trump's visit comes off the heels of the latest Marquette University Law School poll, which showed him with a two-percentage point lead over President Joe Biden, well within the margin of error. Wisconsin is one of just a handful of contested states that will  decide the next presidential election .

Trump was last in Wisconsin on April 2, when he held a rally in Green Bay . The Waukesha rally is Trump's first campaign event since the start of his hush money trial in Manhattan.

Here's a recap of the day's events:

Immigration, economy major focus of Trump's speech

Similar to his rally in Green Bay, Trump used his speech to criticize Biden on his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border, calling it "the worst border in the history of the world."

"Biden came in and unleashed mayhem on our economy, just like he unleashed mayhem on our border," Trump said. "They have people flowing in from the poorest and the heaviest-crime countries all over the world."

In the latest Marquette University Law School poll , Wisconsin voters considered Trump better than Biden at handling immigration and border security, plus the economy, Israel-Hamas war and foreign relations. Biden had the lead on health care, abortion policy and Medicare and Social Security.

Voters overall ranked the economy as their top issue, with 33% saying it would be most important for deciding who to vote for. Immigration and border security was the second, with 21% citing that issue.

Democrats focus on abortion policy in response

In response to Trump's visit, Democrats focused on abortion access, a key message that they've delivered at Biden campaign events.

"Trump’s abortion bans are wreaking havoc across the country — something he called “incredible” today — and he’s fine with it. Because it’s all about him, not Wisconsin, and not America," said Brianna Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Biden-Harris campaign in Wisconsin.

"As president, Donald Trump delivered less jobs and paved the way for extreme abortion bans across America. His next term could be worse: more bans, more suffering, and higher costs."

Trump briefly addressed abortion in his speech, repeating his position that abortion is best left up to the states. In an interview before his remarks, he declined to weigh in on whether the state Supreme Court should uphold a lower court's ruling restoring abortion access in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin chairman of Republican Party will continue promoting early voting

Republican Party of Wisconsin chairman Brian Schimming told reporters he will continue promoting early voting.

“The Republican National Committee will continue to do that, and so will the president,” Schimming said.

Trump has sent mixed messages on early voting, but has recently shifted his tone. Following the 2020 election, Trump sought to throw out ballots cast in-person absentee in Milwaukee and Dane counties.

Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow also asked the crowd to vote early.

“We are going to get hammered by out-of-state money," Farrow said. "They’re going to flood every single election that we have. If we get out and vote early, that means our dollars can be targeted to those who haven’t voted yet.”

Staunch Trump ally Mike Lindell splits off over early voting stance

One of Trump’s staunchest allies Wednesday split from the former president on a key issue to the 2024 election cycle: early voting.

Mike Lindell, a pillow manufacturer and one of the most prominent purveyors of Trump’s false election claims, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he didn't support the former president’s recent about-face on absentee voting.

“I’m 100% against voting early. I always will be," Lindell said. "It’s harder for (Democrats) to cheat with same-day voting."

Trump has long encouraged supporters to abstain from voting absentee and sought to throw out all in-person absentee ballots cast in the two most populous Wisconsin counties during the 2020 election. But Republicans have persuaded Trump to change his stance on the voting option to encourage GOP voters to maximize their voting power.

Lindell, who was meeting with rally attendees Wednesday outside of the Waukesha County Expo Center, also promoted the recall of Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, who has become a target of Trump and his allies over his unwillingness to take steps to overturn Trump’s 2020 loss.

“Robin Vos has to go,” Lindell said. “Vos is the most toxic politician I’ve ever come across.”

Supporters begin filing into venue for Trump rally

Supporters are slowly beginning to filter in to the Waukesha County Expo Center, where Trump is set to take the stage at 2 p.m.

A large crowd waited outside the expo center long before doors opened, forming a line that snaked through part of the parking lot.

Vendors sell Trump merchandise outside rally

Steven Reid, 38, of Tennessee wound through the line of Trump supporters before the doors opened Wednesday trying to sell merchandise.

On his cart were hats, keychains, bracelets and more. He said many people already seemed to have hats, though.

“Sometimes they buy stuff and sometimes they don’t,” said Reid, who said he travels the country selling merchandise at Trump rallies.

Biden campaign slams Trump for 'harmful' working-class policies

Ahead of Trump’s visit to Waukesha, the Biden campaign slammed Trump for his backing of policies the Biden campaign characterizes as being harmful to “working people here in Wisconsin,” citing tax cuts for corporations and the nation’s wealthiest residents.

“Wisconsinites can’t continue to pay the price while Trump only looks out for himself and his rich donors,” Biden’s Wisconsin communications director Brianna Johnson said in a statement.

“Enough is enough. Wisconsinites are throwing their support behind President Biden because his focus is on empowering American workers. He oversaw the fastest rate of union growth in Wisconsin in the last 30 years, became the first sitting president to join a picket line, and just last week announced plans to put more money in workers’ pockets by getting them the overtime pay they deserve."

Milwaukee protest organizers denounce Trump visit

On the Southside of Milwaukee, organizers and supporters for Voces De La Frontera gathered as they had for nearly 20 years to march for immigrant rights. But Trump’s visit to Waukesha was not ignored by organizers.

“You are not welcome in Wisconsin,” said Christine Neumann Ortiz, executive director for Voces. “You are the real threat to democracy. You orchestrated a failed coup with your corrupt followers and white supremacists. and we reject your racist platform, that promises, dictatorship, military-style mass, deportation, and family separation.“

And while Trump’s visit gathered attention from organizers, so did the protest encampments at UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee. Students on those campuses and others around the country have been organizing demonstrations against their universities' involvement with the Israeli government and its action against Palestinians in Gaza.

Omar Flores, co-chair for the Coalition to March on the RNC, said the police response to the encampments 'will inform us of how they will treat us during the RNC.'

“The city of Milwaukee and nearby municipalities plan to roll out the red carpet for the Republicans and their hateful agenda, and the residents will do everything they can to reject hate in our communities,” Flores said.

But the Biden administration received some criticism from activists for its backing of Israel in its conflict with Palestinians.

“We see that the US government found $26 billion to finance Israel’s bombardment and destruction of Gaza over 30 hospitals and can’t find the funds to keep maternity wards here in Milwaukee open,” said Dr. Roa Qato, gynecologist and co-leader of the Milwaukee Chapter of Healthcare Workers for Palestine.

“We see families under Biden, and under Trump, struggling to make ends meet and to be able to pay for necessary medical supplies and medication.”

Crowd gets to Trump rally in Waukesha early

Bil Aldrich, 51, of DeForest pulled up to the rally before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in a truck flying a Trump 2020 flag that he said he keeps up even when he's not at an event.

He said he goes to every Trump rally he can, and this is his sixth since October 2020.

“They’re fun, great people,” he said. “Every stranger is a better friend than some of my closest family.”

He called Trump “honest to a fault” and said the criminal charges he's facing are “show trials.”

“They’re BS, but he’ll prevail one way or another, even if he ends up running the country from jail,” Aldrich said.

Trump under gag order about Stormy Daniels trial

Trump is taking advantage of a rare mid-week day out of a New York courtroom where he's on trial for allegedly paying off a porn star to be quiet about a past sexual relationship during his first campaign for president.

But Trump faces potential jail time if he again violates a gag order he's under as part of the court proceeding, making it unlikely he'll mention the case in Waukesha.

Trump was fined after he posted on his social media site Truth Social about potential witnesses in the case, including his former attorney, Michael Cohen, and the porn star at the center of the case, Stormy Daniels.

New York Judge Juan Merchan fined Trump $10,000 for the posts, which he deemed a violation of the gag order, and said Trump should be able to campaign freely and defend himself against political attacks but that he not willfully violate the court’s orders.

“If necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, (the court) will impose an incarceratory punishment,” Merchan wrote.

Where is Donald Trump speaking Wednesday?

Trump is holding his rally at the Waukesha County Expo Center, where he speak at around 2 p.m.

The same expo center was used in early March when first lady Jill Biden rallied a crowd of mostly women voters around abortion and health care.

In 2020 , Trump won Waukesha County with about 60% of the vote, compared to Biden's 39%. Margins of victory for Republican presidential candidates in the county have dropped from 35 points in 2012 to 27 in 2016 to 21 in 2020.

What will Donald Trump talk about in Wisconsin on Wednesday?

Trump will "contrast the peace, prosperity and security of his first term with Joe Biden’s failed presidency," his campaign said.

At his Green Bay rally, Trump tore into Biden over his administration's handling of immigration issues at the southern border. The Marquette poll showed Wisconsin voters see Trump better at handling immigration and border security.

Trump also promised to keep Social Security intact if reelected. In that same poll, voters said Biden would do a better job of handling Medicare and Social Security.

Trump also repeated false claims that he won the 2020 election in Wisconsin. Biden won Wisconsin by about 21,000 votes in 2020, a defeat that was key to Trump's reelection loss that year.
