Megadeth Reveal Spring 2023 North American Tour Dates

Megadeth will be hitting the road in the United States and Canada this Spring as part of their Crush The World Tour . The band took to Instagram to share the exciting news with fans, and to detail ticket sales.

"CANADA... 2023! Get ready for the CRUSH THE WORLD TOUR this spring with special guests Bullet For My Valentine and ONI! Tickets & VIP Packages go on sale this Thursday, March 9 at 10am local at megadeth.com/canada ."

Megadeth will be touring almost entirely in Canada this Spring, performing only one show in America. The one American tour date in question will take place in Everett, Washington on April 26th. Immediately after hitting the stage in Washington State, the "Tornado of Souls" stand-outs will travel to Canada to perform in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Kelowna, British Columbia, Edmonton, Alberta, Calgary, Alberta, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Hamilton, Ontario, Ottawa, Ontario, Quebec City, Quebec, Laval, Quebec, Moncton, New Brunswick, and last but not least, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

In addition to announcing a tour, Megadeth recently hosted an exclusive global livestream event titled, " They Only Come Out At Night ," offering fans around the world the opportunity to witness a show live from the comfort of their own homes.

MEGADETH announce 2023 Canadian tour with BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE

Megadeth have announced a spring 2023 Canadian leg of their continuing "Crush the World" tour. The 13-city trek will kick off with a lone U.S. date — in Everett, Washington, on April 26th — before heading north on April 28th with a show in Abbotsford and finally wrapping up on May 15th in Halifax. Bullet for My Valentine and ONI are set to open. Check out the full itinerary below.

Last week, Megadeth performed for the first time to a sold-out crowd at the world-famous Budokan Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Billed as “They Only Come Out At Night”, the concert was also a global livestream event, that included a special appearance of Marty Friedman.  For those unable to be in Japan for this historic moment in rock history, the global livestream of the full performance was available for 2 days.

Last year,  MEGADETH  released their highly anticipated sixteenth studio album  The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!  to both fan and critical acclaim. My son was so happy that I took him along too, he said it was the best experience ever and that he now understood what it was like to at 80’s metal music gig. We both can’t wait to see them again. AMAZING!!! I had the best time, I just wish I had the money to meet the band. I did get to meet the Drummer from the first band. He was bad ass! Really nice, I just can read their name.

This was the 3rd time seeing Megadeth, second time at the Revention Center. Awsome venue and just the right size. Thankful I was able to get to the front and your security was awesome. They bring you fresh water!

Amazing night!!

What can I say...I was at a sold out 1,600 person venue with Megadeth literally feet away from me. It was more than awesome. The guitar playing was amazing (from lead, rhythm and bass) and drummer did a solid job. Ellefson was really into it (considering he grew up near here) and Mustaine sounded great and seemed to enjoy it. Highly recommend for anyone with remote interest.

Mustaine confirms Megadeth world tour with Body Count

Exclusive: Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine reveals they'll tour with 5 other bands next year – and Body Count will be onboard

Dave Mustaine has confirmed Megadeth will tour the world with Body Count next year.

Megadeth’s frontman Dave Mustaine and Body Count star Ice-T had teased an upcoming collaboration on social media and Mustaine now reveals it will take the form of a tour.

Mustaine says that, while he is not a hip-hop fan, he is an admirer of Body Count frontman Ice-T and that he can’t wait to hit the road in 2017.

Mustaine tells Metal Hammer: “We’re talking about a very large tour next summer with five bands on it with us. It’s going to be more of a guest appearance than a direct support kind of thing.

“We’ve been looking at a lot of interesting acts, but for me I don’t always try and pick out the flavour of the month – I have loyalty to my friends. I always thoughts that Body Count, while if not for everybody, I thought it was great.

“It’s not your normal metal band, it’s cool to see somebody crossing over from the hip-hop world into the metal world. I think it’s great to be open-minded about different people from different backgrounds.”

The tour will include shows in Asia, with Malaysia included on the list since a ban on Megadeth performing in the country has been lifted.

Mustaine adds: “I’m super thrilled about this. We had been banned in Malaysia because of some knobhead in a remote area had conducted a black metal seance of some sort and killed somebody, then gave us the indubitable honour of spray painting Megadeth and Slayer on the wall.

“Naturally, narrow-minded people said it had to be Megadeth’s fault because our name is on the wall. And Kuala Lumpur is somewhere I’ve always wanted to hit when we’ve been trekking through Asia, but we couldn’t go. Now the ban has been lifted so that’s the start.

“We’re going through Asia and working our way around the globe. I’ve got a lot of great opportunities coming up, it’s just a case of fitting them all in.”

Expanding on the Malaysia ban and why he wants to perform there, the singer says: “People like you and I with our anglo-saxon background forget how easy we have it being able to go into a pub or a nightclub and order a beer – but in some places they slash your face for drinking booze.

“But for me, being able to go into places where there is open-mindedness and they’re going to let us bring our brand of metal music, it’s really rewarding.

“We’re not trying to tell people to overthrow their government or to go home and tell their family that they’re wrong, we’re just saying this is music we love and these are the lyrics we sing about – whether it’s fantasy or reality.

“I’ve got songs that are fictional, songs that are fact. Five Magics talks about having a dragon – that ain’t fact!”

Body Count are working on their new album titled Bloodlust , which will be released after they recently signed a deal with Century Media. It’s expected to launch next year.

Megadeth will this month continue their live dates in support of 15th album Dystopia .

The strident rhythm sections, songs about religion and war will be experienced again on April 21, 2024 at the Movistar Arena in Bogota. The band was born in Los Angeles in 1983 by legendary guitarist and vocalist Dave Mustaine. Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good! was the first album in a roster that counts more than 15 albums in four decades of career with classics such as Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia and more.

We will see the great Mustaine back in his beloved Bogota this 2024 in his only concert in Colombia: Megadeth live.

Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari joined MEGADETH last September after the band's longtime axeman Kiko Loureiro , announced earlier that month that he would sit out the next leg of MEGADETH 's "Crush The World" tour in order to stay home with his children back in Finland. It was later revealed that Mäntysaari would continue to play guitar for MEGADETH for the foreseeable future, with Loureiro seemingly having no plans to return.

The 37-year-old Mäntysaari was born in Tampere, Finland and began playing guitar at the age of 12. In 2004, he joined the band WINTERSUN . He has also been a member of SMACKBOUND since 2015.

MEGADETH played its first concert with Mäntysaari on September 6, 2023 at Revel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Loureiro officially joined MEGADETH in April 2015, about five months after Chris Broderick 's exit from the group.

MEGADETH 's sold-out shows at Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, 2024 will be broadcast live on Veeps . Fans will also have the exclusive opportunity to snag MEGADETH merch, including a poster and a limited-edition tee, that will only be available for purchase on Veeps during the livestream. Veeps All Access subscribers can access the shows for free as part of their subscription. Otherwise tickets are on sale for $14.99 for each show or $24.99 for both shows on veeps.com/megadeth .

Currently on the Latin American leg of their Crush The World Tour, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine spoke with Alejandrosis about new guitarist, Teemu Mäntysaari, who replaced Kiko Loureiro last year. Check out the interview below.

Mustaine: "Teemu is a monster. He is the guy I've been looking for, for a very long time. I ask him to learn a song, he learns it. I ask him to learn a solo, he learns it. I ask him to learn a vocal part, he learns it. I love watching him play and I love watching him learn, because he learns as fast as anybody else could, and it's made me really interested in my craft again. I can tell you I was not really looking at guitar like something that I needed to make part of my day, every single day. Sometimes I would set the guitar down and I wouldn't touch it for a couple of days. Ever since Teemu came in, I'm ready to warm up, I'm ready to practice, I'm ready to go over the solos, and I'm ready to fucking rip."

Featured in a recent interview with Guitar World, Mäntysaari discussed replacing Kiko Loureiro, working with Dave Mustaine, what he hopes to accomplish with Megadeth, and more. Following is an excerpt from the chat.

Guitar World: What led to getting the call to join Megadeth?

Teemu: “I was doing some shows with my other band, Smackbound. I got a call from Kiko Loureiro, who explained the situation and asked if I’d possibly be available for some touring in the fall of 2023. I was immediately very excited and said, ‘Yeah, I’m available.’ He asked if I could record some video clips as an audition to send to management to check out my playing, and I did. Things progressed from there.”

Guitar World: It seems safe to say that you were a fan going into this.

Teemu: “Megadeth was always kind of there in the background for me. I was very aware of the band – they’re one of the biggest metal bands in existence. So, of course, when they called me up, it was a bit surreal. But from the first phone call with Dave, they were so welcoming. He even said, ‘I really liked your audition,’ meaning the videos he saw. The momentum from that, and how fast-paced it’s been, has allowed me to concentrate on getting my work done, so there wasn’t much time to be nervous.”

Guitar World: What types of tips and tricks did Dave give you?

Teemu: “Dave is very detail-oriented. I learned the songs by ear and from some tips Kiko gave me. Kiko showed me how things work within the band and gave me some tips, but I’ve worked mainly with Dave. I’d have Zoom meetings with Dave, go through the riffs, and look at the small details of how they groove, the moods, and the technical side. We talked a lot about what Dave wants to project, picking directions, being very aware of down-picking, alternate picking, and, in many of the songs, being aware of both."

“We also talked about things like dampening, the flow of songs, creating contrast, hand positions, and trying to get things right fingering-wise, all of which I enjoy doing. There’s a bit of detective work involved, and to get that information from the source in Dave was amazing.”

Megadeth are currently on their Crush The World Tour. The band made their triumphant return to Latin America for ten shows, with the first stop in Lima, Peru on April 6th. In addition to Peru, upcoming stops include Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil and México.
