Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and Olivia Rodrigo

From the looks of it, 2024 is going to be another year full of memorable performances from some of the biggest artists in the industry.

However, it’s following a record-breaking year for several top performers, including Taylor Swift, who embarked on the first U.S. leg and Latin America leg of her Eras Tour, as well as Beyoncé, who performed across the globe for her Renaissance World Tour. Harry Styles’ massive Love on Tour also wrapped last year, as well as tours from Karol G, Doja Cat, Janelle Monáe, John Mayer and more.

Those are just a few of the tours throughout 2023 that brought millions of fans together for great vibes, memories and music. Concert tours serve not only as an opportunity for artists to promote their latest albums or highlight their entire music catalogs, but it’s also a time for their fans to celebrate their favorite performers all together under the same roof.

But the new year is fully packed with even more concerts, tours, festivals and events for music lovers all around, no matter what genre they’re interested in. Just some of the artists hitting the road in 2024 are Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, Noah Kahan, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Morgan Wallen, Blink-182, Red Hot Chili Peppers and, of course, Swift, who is finishing out her Eras Tour.

Ticket site Gametime also highlighted some of the most anticipated tours this year, based on median ticket prices, and to no surprise, artists including Swift, Rodrigo, Bad Bunny, The Eagles, Wallen and Billy Joel are in the top 10.

Although they’re not touring across the country or globe, several artists also have Las Vegas residencies this year, including Adele, Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Miranda Lambert, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood, Rod Stewart, Kelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan, Shania Twain, Bruno Mars, Kylie Minogue and U2.

New year, new tours! 2024 is shaping up to be an unimaginable year for live music; with artists across every genre gearing up to take the stage. From epic co-headlining treks to your favorite mainstream pop stars in their prime, it’s never been easier to enter the room where it happens. Whether you’re more excited to rock out, rap along, or sing along to every pop song, you’ll have a blast at the most anticipated tours of 2024.

Olivia Rodrigo — GUTS Tour

Are you prepared to see the modern queen of power ballads and No.1 pop singles? Olivia Rodrigo concerts are a wild ride that put her epic voice front and center; powered by Gen Z angst, recognizable choruses, and captivating backdrops that transport you into a new world. Olivia’s world, that is. On the Guts tour, you can expect to hear all the best new Olivia Rodrigo songs from her sophomore album of the same name, including “Vampire” and “bad idea right?” She’ll also play her older favorites including “Good 4 U,” “drivers License,” “deja vu,” and more! See the full list of Olivia Rodrigo tour dates here .

Def Leppard and Journey — The Summer Stadium Tour

It takes a certain amount of rock anthems to fill up major venues like SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, CA (capacity of 70,000!) and the 42,000-seat Citi Field in Queens, NY. But if anybody can do it, it’s Def Leppard and Journey! Both iconic groups have a half-century’s worth of instantly-recognizable hard rock hits right at their fingertips. And they can’t wait to hear you sing along to all of them on The Summer Stadium Tour in 2024. Def Leppard will go full glam metal with 1980s essentials like “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak,” and “Hysteria.” Meanwhile, Journey is taking a break from their solo 50th anniversary trek to play alongside their old friends…and their inspirational rock repertoire needs no introduction. How excited are you to hear “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Wheel In The Sky,” and “Any Way You Want It” amplified in Chicago’s Wrigley Field? Because we sure are.

Green Day — The Saviors Tour

“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors , a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together,” Green Day said when announcing their latest tour. “So let’s thrash.” You don’t have to tell us twice! The rock legends are celebrating not only Saviors , their fourteenth album due for release in January 2024, but also more musical milestones from their illustrious career. 2024 also marks the 30th anniversary of their third album, Dookie , which spawned singles like “Longview” and “Basket Case” and brought punk rock to the forefront of mainstream music. Additionally, next year is also the 20th birthday of American Idiot , the band’s seventh album that established them with the younger crowd. Are you really a millennial if you didn’t scream “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” at the top of your lungs in between classes or post a lyric from “Wake Me Up When September Ends” on your MySpace every fall? The bottom line? Green Day will play through their entire prestigious punk rock catalog during the Saviors tour, and it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any rock fan.

See the full list of Green Day tour dates here .

Bad Bunny — Most Wanted Tour

Fresh off the release of his fifth album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , Bad Bunny is ready to bring the dance party to your city on the Most Wanted Tour! New singles like “Where She Goes,” “Un Preview,” and “Monaco” are a tribute to not only his Latin trap roots, but also the countless other genres that he’s made his own since the 2010s. We’re talking about drill, house, Jersey Club, and of course, Reggaeton. Basically, Bad Bunny is musically experimenting more than ever in his Most Wanted era, and you’ll be blown away by every aspect of this trek. From the high-tech onstage visuals and bold vocals to Bad Bunny’s fierce dedication to Puerto Rican culture, he’s a musical phenomenon that’s destined to own the stage every night.

See the full list of Bad Bunny tour dates here .

Sleater Kinney — US Tour

As Sleater-Kinney sets up for the release of their eleventh album, Little Rope , in January, they’ve also announced a lengthy tour to debut these brand-new tunes. And if the first two singles, “Hell” and “Say It Like You Mean It” are any indication, we’re in for a surreal show that highlights the musical repertoire of these alternative rock-meets riot grrrl favorites. Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker have been killing it since the 1990s with their empowering tracks about feminism, politics, and relationships. And while it’s not quite their 30th anniversary just yet, Sleater Kinney has a lot to celebrate in 2024. Don’t miss your chance to see this talented duo on tour!

Drake — It’s All A Blur - Big As The What? Tour

Champagne Papi himself is hitting the road once again next year, extending his It’s All A Blur tour and visiting dozens more US arenas. While the first leg of this trek featured support from 21 Savage, these newly-announced Drake concerts will feature J. Cole as opening act…giving hip-hop fans the show of a lifetime as they witness the two multiplatinum rappers in action. Drake continues to support tracks off his eighth and latest album, 2023’s For All The Dogs . Therefore, the setlist will include modern favorites like “Slime You Out,” “8AM in Charlotte,” and “Rich Baby Daddy.” Additionally, the record also includes a collaboration with J. Cole called “First Person Shooter,” which we’re hoping these tourmates will perform together onstage!

The Rolling Stones — Hackney Diamonds Tour

“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” right? Well, unless a set of rock legends like The Rolling Stones comes into town, which they are in 2024! Composed of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, it’s not easy to explain the profound impact of The Rolling Stones. Their gritty blend of rock and roll and blues was at the forefront of the British Invasion back in the 1960s, while they’ve continued to record and perform to perfection for over six decades now. The group just released Hackney Diamonds , their 26th album and first new material in 18 years. And they intend to do justice to these new songs, especially as they pay tribute to their late drummer, Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021. Furthermore, they’ll also play all the top classic rock favorites from the vault, including “Paint It, Black,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Honky Tonk Women,” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

Melanie Martinez — Trilogy Tour

Everybody’s favorite alien is taking the stage once again in 2024, but this won’t be your typical Melanie Martinez concert. Rather, the Trilogy tour will take attendees on a mystical, magical, and flawlessly musical journey through all three of Martinez’s albums! Whether your favorite is 2015’s Cry Baby , 2019’s K-12 , or 2023’s Portals, the renowned art pop-rock singer will showcase her entire artistry each night. At the center of each record is her Cry Baby protagonist, a shape-shifting creature that most recently took on the form of a galactic glamazon. Martinez will more than likely perform in full prosthetic makeup and costume attire to represent each album cycle. And you’ll be blown away by her sense of theatricality and mind-numbingly beautiful voice.

new tours music

The most anticipated albums, tours, and music festivals of 2023

New albums from lana del rey and depeche mode, a sold-out taylor swift tour, and rihanna's super bowl lvii halftime show are among the year's musical highlights.

The year’s barely begun, and there’s already plenty for music lovers to be excited for in 2023. There are highly anticipated new albums from big household names and beloved underground acts alike. There are reunion tours and farewell tours and tours from artists who haven’t played a live show in years. There are emo festivals and rap festivals and rock festivals and whatever you want to call Coachella . Here’s our expertly curated list of the albums, concerts, and festivals we’re most looking forward to this year. Let’s make 2023 a good one, shall we?

Mac DeMarco: Five Easy Hot Dogs [January 20]

Mac DeMarco performs onstage at SOMETHING IN THE WATER on April 27, 2019 in Virginia Beach City.

“The plan was to start driving north, and not go home to Los Angeles until I was done with a record,” Mac DeMarco explains of his new instrumental collection, Five Easy Hot Dogs . “Kind of like being on tour, except there weren’t any shows, and I’d just be burning money.” Every song on the record was recorded and mixed in the city it’s named after, from Gualala and Portland to Vancouver and Chicago, and the tracklist reflects DeMarco’s road trip in chronological order. “This record sounds like what rolling around like that feels like,” DeMarco says.

Sam Smith, Gloria [January 27]

Although they made their name on big, weepy piano ballads, Sam Smith is at their best when they embrace pure pop euphoria. Smith has said that their new album, Gloria , titled after their name for the “voice in my head that just says, ‘You can do it,’” is centered on queer joy. In addition to the previously released single “Love Me More” and the Kim Petras-assisted number one hit “Unholy,” Gloria will feature songs with Jessie Reyez, Koffee, and Ed Sheeran. “ Gloria got me through some dark times and was a beacon for me in my life,” Smith says. “I hope it can be that for you.”

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band 2023 North American tour [ starts February 1]

Bruce Springsteen

The last time that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band went on tour was way back in 2016, to support the 35th anniversary box set of The River . Since then, the Boss has performed a solo residency on Broadway that got extended three times and released two LPs, the 2019 solo album Western Stars and the 2020 full-band effort Letters To You . In February, Springsteen and the E Street Band will finally go on tour in support of Letters To You , kicking off in Tampa, Florida, on February 1 and continuing for two months before moving on to Europe in the spring and summer. Whether you’ve never seen Springsteen and the E Street Band live in concert or you’ve seen them dozens of times already, you should be marking your calendar for a chance to catch one of rock’s most enduring, and durable, acts.

Shania Twain: Queen Of Me [February 3]

Shania Twain is feeling herself—as she should be. Queen Of Me, the country-pop icon’s first album since 2017 and her first for Republic Records, is described as her “most triumphant-feeling body of work; an album about standing in your own power and worshipping yourself.” Lead single “Waking Up Dreaming” was co-written and produced with BTS collaborator David Stewart, and Twain will tour through North America and Europe in support of the LP starting in April.

Paramore: This Is Why [February 10]

Hayley Williams has released two solo records since Paramore’s 2017 album After Laughter, but her main band is still going strong. The band’s new album, This Is Why, is coming out next month, and Williams has said that Bloc Party, who they’re touring with this spring, were the “number one reference” for the record’s sound. Judging by the early tracks, This Is Why will merge the pop ambitions of After Laughter with the urgency of Paramore’s earlier work.

Yo La Tengo: This Stupid World [February 10]

Long-running indie-rock institution Yo La Tengo returns with This Stupid World , which the trio recorded and produced entirely on their own and are billing as “the most live-sounding Yo La Tengo album in years.” Lead single “Fallout” bears that out, presenting a perfect synthesis of fuzzy noise and melodic lightness that hits right in that classic YLT sweet spot. As advertised, it’s easily some of the most immediate material they’ve put out in a long time.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show [February 12]

Rihanna reportedly turned down an offer to perform the Super Bowl halftime show in 2018 in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. But the NFL has confirmed that Rihanna will be the headlining performer at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in 2023, which is set to take place on February 12 in Glendale, Arizona. Rihanna hasn’t released an album since 2016’s Anti and hasn’t performed live since the 2018 Grammys, so this performance should be a big one.

Caroline Polachek: Desire, I Want To Turn Into You [February 14]

With the viral success of her 2019 hit “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings,” erstwhile Chairlift singer Caroline Polachekhas morphed into a bona fide TikTok-approved alt-pop star. Desire, I Want to Turn Into You, her second full-length solo album under her own name, is poised to become her biggest breakthrough yet. We’ve already heard “Bunny Is A Rider,” “Billions,” “Sunset,” and “Welcome To My Island,” and our anticipation for the rest is through the roof.

Gorillaz: Cracker Island [February 24]

A new Gorillaz album is always a good time. Cracker Island, Damon Albarn and company’s follow-up to 2020’s Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, will welcome a slew of collaborators including Thundercat, Tame Impala, Stevie Nicks, Bad Bunny, Beck, the Pharcyde’s Bootie Brown, and Adeleye Omotayo to the virtual party. They’ve already shared the title track alongside singles “New Gold,” “Baby Queen,” and “Skinny Ape,” and they debuted several more live during the Gorillaz World Tour last year.

Rolling Loud California [March 3]

Image for article titled The most anticipated albums, tours, and music festivals of 2023

After being cancelled in 2020 and held in San Bernardino in 2021, hip-hop festival Rolling Loud is returning to Los Angeles from March 3–5. Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and Future are headlining alongside special guest Lil Wayne, with Scott giving his first headlining performance since the Astroworld tragedy in 2021. Kodak Black, Tyga, Trippie Redd, DaBaby, Saweetie, Lil Baby, 2 Chainz, Lil Yachty, City Girls, Aminé, Chief Keef, Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, Ski Mask The Slump God, Sheck Wes, Kevin Gates, Soulja Boy, and more are also set to perform at Hollywood Park in Inglewood.

Fever Ray: Radical Romantics [March 10]

“There will be an album—it’s called Radical Romantics , cause everything needs to be dissected and loved and torn and built back up again and we’re dreamers aren’t we?” Karin Dreijer announced late last year. Featuring contributions from Dreijer’s brother and fellow The Knife member Olof Dreijer as well as Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Portuguese DJ and producer Nídia, Aasthma, and Vessel, Fever Ray’s Radical Romantics will find Dreijer taking on “the myth of love.”

Lana Del Rey: Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd [March 10]

Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard? If not, Lana Del Rey is here to fix that with her new album Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (no question mark). The album boasts production from Mike Hermosa, Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes, and Benji, and features Jon Batiste, Bleachers, Father John Misty, Tommy Genesis, SYML, and Judah Smith, the pastor at the celebrity church that Lana attends. She’s promoting the album with a single billboard in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which just so happens to be the hometown of her cop ex-boyfriend Sean “Sticks” Larkin.

100 gecs: 10,000 gecs [March 17]

More gecs! Ten times as many gecs, to be precise. Since their 2019 debut 1000 gecs , Dylan Brady and Laura Les’ hyerpop duo 100 gecs has become a genuine phenomenon bordering on memetic virality, and now their sophomore album 10,000 gecs is almost upon us. 10,000 gecs will include the previously released singles “mememe” and “Doritos & Fritos,” plus plenty more colorful chaos and digitized hooks where those came from.

U2: Songs Of Surrender [March 17]

U2 are rerecording and reimagining 40 of their own songs for Songs Of Surrender , a companion album to Bono’s recent memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story . “The fact is that most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men. Those songs mean something quite different to us now,” the Edge explains in a letter to fans. “Once we surrendered our reverence for the original version, each song started to open up to a new anthemic voice of this time, of the people we are now, and particularly the singer that Bono has become.”

Taylor Swift Eras tour with Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, Haim, Muna etc. [ starts March 18]

Taylor Swift performs onstage during NSAI 2022 Nashville Songwriter Awards at Ryman Auditorium on September 20, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Because of the pandemic, Taylor Swift hasn’t toured since her 2018 stadium shows supporting Reputation. Since then, she’s released the new album Midnights and rerecorded versions of her old albums Fearless and Red. And in March, Swift is embarking on the Eras Tour, which she describes as “a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!)“ Big acts including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, Muna, Haim, Gayle, Gracie Abrams, and Owenn will serve as openers on different dates.

Depeche Mode Memento Mori tour [starts March 23]

Depeche Mode co-founder and keyboardist Andy Fletcher passed away last May, and Dave Gahan and Martin Gore are honoring his memory with the new album Memento Mori . “We started work on this project early in the pandemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time. After Fletch’s passing, we decided to continue as we’re sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning,” Gore says. Although it doesn’t have an official release date yet, Memento Mori will be out sometime in March, and Depeche Mode will head out on tour later that month.

Coachella [April 14-16, April 21-23]

Coachella 2023 lineup

Coachella, America’s biggest music festival, will take place in Indio, California, over the weekends of April 14–16 and April 21–23. Frank Ocean, who was originally supposed to headline the cancelled 2020 edition of the festival, will be headlining alongside Bad Bunny and Blackpink. Calvin Harris, who previously headlined the fest in 2016, is billed as “returning to the desert.” Also performing are ... *deep breath* ... Gorillaz, Rosalía, Björk, Burna Boy, the Chemical Brothers, Kaytranada, boygenius, Charli XCX, Labrinth, Underworld, Kali Uchis, Dominic Fike, Jai Paul, Metro Booin, Pusha T, Wet Leg, Yves Tumor, Muna, Chromeo, Mura Masa, Yaeji, 070 Shake, Christine And The Queens, Rae Sremmurd, Yungblud, Idris Elba, Kenny Beats, Snail Mail, Weyes Blood, Alex G, Noname, Saba, Soul Glo, Sleaford Mods, The Comet Is Coming, Earthgang, The Breeders, Horsegirl, Sudan Archives, and a whole lot more.

Janet Jackson Together Again tour with Ludacris [starts April 14]

The inimitable Janet Jackson will launch her Together Again arena tour in April to celebrate her 50 years in the entertainment industry, the 30th anniversary of Janet , and the 25th anniversary of The Velvet Rope. She’s also promised some new music. The Together Again tour begins April 14 in Hollywood, Florida, and concludes June 21 in Seattle; Ludacris is set to open for Janet on all 37 dates.

Metallica: 72 Seasons [April 14]

Heavy metal overlords Metallica will release their new album, 72 Seasons, in April. “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves,” James Hetfield explains in a statement. Hetfield and Lars Ulrich co-produced the 77-minute LP with Greg Fidelman, who worked on Hardwired … To Self-Destruct and Metallica’s infamous Lou Reed collab Lulu. And after the album comes out, the band will embark on a massive M72 World Tour where they’ll play two shows in every city, with different setlists and openers every night, all the way until September 2024.

The Smashing Pumpkins: Atum [April 21]

The Smashing Pumpkins’ Atum: A Rock Opera In Three Acts is, as advertised, a rock opera in three acts. The first act came out in November of last year; the second is set to arrive at the end of January; and the third will drop April 21, alongside a physical box set consisting of all 33 songs from the three acts plus 10 additional exclusive tracks. Billy Corgan is billing the album as a sequel to 1995’s Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and 2000’s Machina/The Machines Of God.

The Walkmen reunion tour [ starts April 24]

The Walkmen arrive at Irving Plaza on March 28, 2005 in New York City.

Since the Walkmen went on “extreme hiatus” in 2013, the band’s members have released solo albums and pursued various other projects. But now, nearly a full decade later, they’re reuniting to play some shows together. Following five dates at Webster Hall in New York, they’ll perform in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., and they’re also set to play the Shaky Knees music festival in Atlanta. As of now, there are no plans to record any new music, but who knows what might happen in the future.

Blink-182 + Tom DeLonge reunion tour, North American leg with Turnstile [ starts May 4]

Longtime Blink-182 co-leader and founding member Tom DeLonge has finally returned to the fold, and the beloved pop-punk band’s classic lineup of DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker have announced a huge global tour stretching into 2024. Following their first-ever Latin American tour in March and April, the North America leg of the reunion tour—with Turnstile opening—will commence in May.

Death Grips tour [ starts May 4]

Stefan Burnett of Death Grips performs during Tyler, the Creator’s 5th Annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles on November 13, 2016.

After several years of radio silence, Death Grips are staying noided and hitting the road. In addition to sets at upcoming festivals including Sick New World, Primavera Sound, and Outbreak, Death Grips will head out on a full North American tour with one leg in May and another in September. The group hasn’t released an album since 2018’s Year Of The Snitch; could there be some new music on the horizon?

Just Like Heaven [May 13]

Image for article titled The most anticipated albums, tours, and music festivals of 2023

And Future Islands, M83, the reunited Walkmen, Empire Of The Sun, Hot Chip, Caribou, The Bravery, Fever Ray, Peaches, Azealia Banks, Ladytron, STRFKR, Metronomy, and Cults, among others, will also be in attendance.

Dead & Co. farewell tour [ starts May 19]

From left: Guitarist John Mayer, drummer Bill Kreutzmann, guitarist Bob Weir and drummer Mickey Hart of Dead & Company perform in Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 10, 2016.

Dead & Co. is ending. The Grateful Dead offshoot, which features founding Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, and Bob Weir, plus John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti, have announced a farewell tour spanning from May to July. Although it seems likely that some permutation of the Dead will continue playing shows, this might really be your last chance to see this lineup of ace performers playing together.

Cruel World [May 20]

On Saturday, May 20, exactly one week after Just Like Heaven, Goldenvoice is bringing another niche music festival to Pasadena’s Brookside At The Rose Bowl. Death Cab For Cutie/The Postal Service co-headlining tour [starts September 8]

“I know for a fact I will never have a year again like 2003,” Ben Gibbard says. “The Postal Service record came out, Transatlanticism came out. These two records will be on my tombstone, and I’m totally fine with that. I’ve never had a more creatively inspired year.” While he may never have a year like that again, 2023 might come close. Gibbard is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Death Cab For Cutie’s Transatlanticism and the Postal Service’s Give Up by performing both albums in full on a Death Cab/Postal Service co-headlining tour. These shows will be the Postal Service’s first in a decade.

Between tours, festivals, one-off concerts, residencies, and so much more, keeping track of your favorite artists is a full-time job (a full-time job we’re lucky enough to have).

That’s why we have introduced the Live For Live Music Concert Announcement Tracker. Below is a running list of recent live music announcements in one convenient, updated article.

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of every concert announced. Instead, we hope to provide a broad overview of the week’s developments in live music—and, hopefully, a helpful resource for you while you put together your personal concert calendar for the year. It’s looking like a busy one.

See you on tour…

Taylor Swift shocker: New album, "The Tortured Poets Department," is actually a double album

By Alex Sundby , Brian Dakss

Updated on: April 19, 2024 / 10:28 PM EDT / CBS News

Anticipation was growing at a fever pitch before Taylor Swift's latest album, " The Tortured Poets Department ," dropped at midnight EDT. But the pop superstar had a huge surprise on tap: It's actually a double album.

When Part One dropped, Swift wrote on Instagram , "All's fair in love and poetry... New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out now 🤍"

Then came the shocker, revealed in an Instagram post saying , "It's a 2am surprise: The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album. ✌️ I'd written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here's the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn't mine anymore… it's all yours. 🤍."

What's Taylor Swift's new album about?

Swift described the album as "new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time — one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure."

She also said that time has been "closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted."

"Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Denny Directo called the record some of her most vulnerable work.

"Fans were left with more questions than there were answers, so good luck trying to decipher who these songs are about, what they mean," Directo told CBS News. "… I feel like there's more heartbreak songs on this than there are love songs."

Hours ahead of the record's release, Swift said on social media that its first single was "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, and its music video was released Friday night .

Swift praised the Grammy-nominated artist's musical experimentation and melodies "that just stick in your head forever."

"I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight," Swift said in her post .

"Fortnight" isn't the only track on the album on which Swift worked with another artist. Florence and The Machine is also featured.

What's on "The Tortured Poets Department" tracklist?

Swift posted an initial tracklist to social media in February one day after she announced the album at the Grammys , where she won for best pop vocal album. Here's the list of all 31 songs:

 • "Fortnight"
 • "The Tortured Poets Department"
 • "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys"
 • "So Long, London"
 • "But Daddy I Love Him"

Ice Spice’s growing popularity was on full display Saturday, April 20, at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival as she drew hoards of fans, overflowing the Sahara tent once again during Weekend 2.

She went through most of her early catalog, playing the songs that helped launch her career such as “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “In Ha Mood.”

She may not have had any special guests, but that didn’t stop her from performing songs she’s collaborated with other artists on such as “Barbie World” and “Princess Diana,” which both feature Nicki Minaj, and “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2,” a song that features English singer PinkPantheress.

Ice Spice’s biggest reactions of the night though came not from her singing, but from her dancing, when she was seen on the big-screens twerking.

Following the conclusion of her set, a message appeared on the screen saying “Y2K album dropping soon.”

Coi Leray, who performed at the Mojave tent Saturday, also announced she was also planning to release a new song soon.

After some technical difficulties to start out her set, Leray got personal with the crowd.

The New Jersey-based singer said to “keep love first” and admitted that she was going through a lot and planned on taking out all of her frustration with her performance. Also wearing a sparkling knee brace, she told the crowd she was still recovering from an injury but wanted to perform for her fans.

Her set included two of her most popular songs “Players” and “No More Parties.” She also performed “Can’t Come Back,” “Blick Blick” and an unreleased track titled “Coke Bottle Body.”

Bob Heil, Whose Innovations Enhanced the Sound of Rock, Dies at 83

A groundbreaking audio engineer, he provided the large-scale systems that brought tours by the Who and the Grateful Dead to life.

A black-and-white photo of Bob Heil, a man with shoulder-length hair and a light-colored short-sleeved shirt, stands next to a piece of audio equipment.

By Alex Williams

Bob Heil’s career as a groundbreaking sound engineer who brought thunder and rich sonic coloring to tours by rock titans like the Grateful Dead and the Who began behind a pipe organ in a 1920s movie palace.

Mr. Heil, who helped usher rock into its arena-shaking era by designing elaborate sound systems that allowed rock juggernauts of the late 1960s and ’70s to play at volcanic volumes, first learned to appreciate the full spectrum of musical tones as a teenager, when he took a job playing the massive Wurlitzer pipe organ at the opulent Fox Theater in St. Louis.

“We had to voice and tune 3,500 pipes, from one inch to 32 feet,” he said in a 2022 video interview with the audio entrepreneur Ken Berger. “Voicing taught me to listen. Very few people know how to listen. Listening, you’ve got to mentally go in and dissect.”

Mr. Heil died on Feb. 28 of cancer in a hospital in Belleville, Ill., his daughter Julie Staley said. He was 83. His death was not widely reported at the time.

Although he worked behind the scenes, Mr. Heil was enough of a force that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland credited him with “ creating the template for modern rock sound systems” In 2006, the Hall installed a public display containing his mixing boards, speakers and other items.

“The concert business became what it is today because he made the experience so much better for the customers,” Howard Kramer, who at the time was the Hall of Fame’s curatorial director, said in an interview that year with The Houston Chronicle. “No one made the leaps in live sound that he did.”

Mr. Heil got started in the business in 1966. Up to that point, top rock ’n’ roll bands often had to rely on feeble sound systems that were drowned out by screaming fans. That roar, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones wrote in his 2010 autobiography, “Life,” was often so deafening in the band’s early days that audiences could hear nothing more than the drums: “We used to play ‘Popeye the Sailor Man’ some nights, and the audience didn’t know any different.”

Mr. Heil gave rock shows the sound arsenal they needed. “We were the first company back then to build a package P.A .,” he said in a 2008 interview with the audio magazine TapeOp. “You could come to Heil Sound in 1972 and leave the facility with a complete system: snakes, road cases, everything — even a modular mixer.”

He also put a distinctive stamp on 1970s rock with the Heil Talk Box, an effects pedal that transformed guitar parts and vocals into an interstellar drone. Joe Walsh used it in memorable fashion on his hit “Rocky Mountain Way” in 1973, and the Talk Box was a signature of Peter Frampton’s monster-selling 1976 double album, “Frampton Comes Alive!”

Mr. Heil’s career took a major turn in 1971, he told Mr. Berger, when a manager for the Who frantically called him in St. Louis, asking if he could get his crew to Boston the next day. The opening show on the band’s tour in support of its hallowed album “Who’s Next” had been a disaster, with one newspaper noting that the band’s “soaring brand of rock could not be heard” under the venue’s “miserable conditions.”

Roger Daltrey, the band’s lead singer, threatened to fly back to England until Mr. Heil arrived with his rig. When Mr. Daltrey “did the sound check,” Mr. Heil recalled, “it was OK, because it was a monster P.A.” He would work with the Who for the next decade.

Robert Gene Heil was born Oct. 5, 1940, in St. Louis, the elder of two children of Robert and LaVerna (Bills) Heil. His parents owned a clothing shop in the small town of Marissa, Ill., about 40 miles east of St. Louis.

As a youth, Bob not only played the accordion and the organ but also became a ham radio enthusiast, which gave him an early opportunity to fiddle with electronics. After graduating from Marissa Township High School in 1958, he spent time studying at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and the St. Louis Institute of Music.

In 1966 he opened Ye Olde Music Shop in Marissa, where he rented Hammond organs and repaired instruments for professional musicians. He also began to design his own audio systems.

Before long, he was supplying them to country acts like Dolly Parton and Little Jimmy Dickens as they came through St. Louis. His big break came in 1970, when management of his old employer, the Fox Theater, called him and told them of a crisis: The Grateful Dead was set to play there, but the band’s P.A. system had been confiscated by authorities in a drug raid.

On a subsequent call with Mr. Heil, Jerry Garcia, the band’s lead guitarist and vocalist, “almost dropped the phone” when he learned that Mr. Heil had a sophisticated system featuring an amplifier by McIntosh, the high-end audiophile brand, Mr. Heil told Mr. Berger. Performing Musician magazine later called the resulting concert “the night that modern live sound was born.”

In addition to his daughter Ms. Staley, Mr. Heil is survived by his wife, Sarah (Benton) Heil; another daughter, Barbara Hartley; a stepson, Ash Levitt, the president and chief executive of Heil Sound; a sister, Barbara Schneidewind; and seven grandchildren. Both daughters are from his first marriage, to Judy Mortensen, which ended in divorce.

By 1980, Mr. Heil had grown weary of life on the road, so he created a new line of headsets and microphones for the ham radio industry. At one point, Joe Walsh, another ham enthusiast, told him he wanted to use one of his microphones onstage.

Mr. Heil protested that the microphones were not concert quality. Mr. Walsh disagreed. “I was at his house and went downstairs to his little studio and he proved it to me,” Mr. Heil told TapeOp. “So I had to start listening all over again.”

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

 • Every day each car in Moscow metro passes more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
 • Moscow subway system is the 5th in the intensity of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
 • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is 90 seconds .

Taylor Swift's outfit in new 'Fortnight' video designed by Milwaukee artist Elena Velez

new tours music

In her latest music video, “Fortnight,” Taylor Swift donned a Victorian-gothic-style outfit that was designed by emerging Milwaukee artist Elena Velez .

The video, which was released Friday, had nearly 18 million views by Saturday night on YouTube and is the No. 1 trending video for music.

The ensemble designed by Velez and worn by Swift makes its appearance at a little more than one minute into the video just before the music artist Post Malone makes an appearance and the two performers start using early 1900s typewriters.

The all-black outfit is actually separates and is not a dress, according to the Taylor Swift fashion blog Taylorswiftstyle.com .

The pieces are from Velez’s Fall 2024 collection, which debuted in February.

Velez told Vogue magazine that her intentions with this collection included bringing a “more multi-dimensional representation of womanhood, good and bad; one that accepts the difficult, complicated, ugly truth of being a woman as part of the beauty that makes us whole…”

The dark and gloomy outfit fits the overall mood of Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

It is reminiscent of the dresses worn by high-class women of the late 1800s and early 1900s in Europe and the U.S.

The look was popularized by Queen Victoria of England, who wore elegant and elaborate funeral garb in public mourning of her husband Albert, who died in 1861, until her own death in 1901.

Velez posted a picture of Swift wearing the ensemble on her Instagram page , but she has not made public comments about the exposure, yet.

Velez is of Puerto Rican heritage but was raised in Milwaukee by a single mother who was a ship captain on the Great Lakes. Velez told Journal Sentinel reporter Hannah Kirby in March that influenced her artistic identity.

Educated in fashion design in Paris and London with degrees in 2018 and 2020, she was quickly noticed in the fashion world. Velez was the 2022 Council of Fashion Designers of America’s “Emerging Designer of the Year” award winner and the 2022 Vogue Fashion Fund winner.

Velez says on her website that some of her proudest work so far has been with Midwestern makers to help democratize resources and recognition for artists outside of traditional creative capitals.

She is now based in New York.
