Just One Tree Makes A Difference
We have partnered with Just One Tree. As keen photographers, if the environment that we need for our hobby and our passion is damaged and not taken care of then we have nothing to enjoy. Nothing to photograph.
The problem of deforestation is still solvable and we have a way to help; For every workshop place we sell we will plant several trees to help with reforestation.
We also work with communities to provide training, education, and sustainable incomes. We lift people out of poverty, whilst regenerating their local environments.
But we don’t just plant trees. We grow forests. Regenerate oceans. And bring climate change education into classrooms around the world.

What Our Customers Say
We really do try to make your experience the best we can, and with over 80% of customers rebooking, we must be doing something right! Here’s a few testimonials from happy photographers…
I can thoroughly recommend the Workshop. The Workshop shooting with the supplied model was great but so also was the free time shooting of the Carnival costume models. Put it on your bucket list... Mine is now ticked.
The variety of places to visit was excellent. I have never captured so many stunning pictures. Learned a lot and used filters, long exposure so fulfilled some challenges! Always enjoy the varied trips and friendships made.
The help and advice from Steve was great for me and I always felt supported. I managed to get some really good photos. The workshop was so well organised, great locations for taking photographs. Tiffany was lovely, she was great to work with.
Madeira was my 3rd trip with Steve, and lived up to expectations. Days are long and full, visiting super photo locations. Steve runs a very well organised trip, yet it feels relaxed, and there is always time to make sure everyone is happy with their shots.
Three fabulous full days with a tutor who was intimate with the location, both old Valencia and the Arts & Science Park, which is a modern architectural wonder. Crucially, Steve was in tune with that one vital aspect we photographers are forever chasing: the light.

7 Day Photography Tour of England's Lake District
Description
Explore the jawdropping sights of England's largest national park on this 7 day photography tour of the Lake District with Dion Hitchcock plus Phil Buckle, a photography guide who has 3 decades of experience in the area!
Situated in Cumbria and designated a UNESO World Heritage Site in 2017, the wild and untamed beauty of the Lake District is what makes it such a wonderful destination for landscape photography. This diverse area is home to stunning glacial lakes, emerald green valleys, majestic mountain peaks and extensive moorlands, combining to produce a spellbinding atmosphere like something straight out of a fairytale.
Numerous opportunities for unique photographs will be just a stone's throw away from your clutches during this autumn photography workshop to the splendid English countryside. This time of year is characterised by the charming, earthen hues of fall. Throughout the tour, your photo guides will ensure that you'll be in all of the best locations to witness the glorious autumn colours painting the landscape in a layer of vibrance. They'll teach you everything that you need to know to enhance your photography skills so that you can take home a collection of truly stunning photographs. Please note that due to the dynamic nature of the weather in the Lake District, your tour itinerary will be flexible to accommodate for the conditions.
Do not miss out on the opportunity to experience and capture the breathtaking beauty of the Lake District. Places are limited to just 5 participants on this small group adventure. Check availability by choosing a date.

Departure Schedule
7-13th Nov 2020 – Guided by Phil Buckle & Dion Hitchcock
Dion Hitchcock Photography
Born in Perth, Australia, Dion embarked on the usual antipodean right of passage collecting passport stamps through 40+ countries and is currently based in London, United Kingdom.
He qualified as a pharmacist and after many years in the dispensary he swapped helping patients and teaching future pharmacists for helping photographic clients with both the technical aspects and artistic side of photography. Although an unconventional transition, it could be seen as a natural progression following in the footsteps of both his artists parents who instilled in him an appreciation of the beautiful and wonderous natural world.
From assisting in workshops at his camera club in 2011 whilst learning photography, he's progressed to successfully running his own photographic group with over 5,500 members. This journey from novice to professional has highlighted to him how important friendly encouragement is together with learning the technical aspects in a step-wise manner, something which is evident in his workshops today. Running his camera club and designing the varied workshops for the photographers keeps him on his toes with many different genres of photography but his focus keeps returning to landscape and wildlife.
He currently leads Iceland Photo Tours’ Scottish Highlands workshop and is excited to be continuing to explore the UK, in partnership with sponsorship from Kase Filters.

Imagine spending the day learning about wildlife photography and spending the evening photographing the night sky.
The benefit of photography tours is that you will be immersed in photography for several days allowing the opportunity to cover a much wider range of topics.
Also, because of the extra time we will have on photo tours, we will be able to go much further off the tourist path. This allows us to get to the heart of a destination.
But even on our photography tours, there will still be plenty of learning. Your tutors will set tasks and exercises to push your technical abilities. If you struggle in certain aspects of your own photography, they can help you.
You will experience a wide variety of scenarios in our photography holidays. On any given trip you might photograph everything from markets and landscapes to food and portraits.
One day you’ll be getting up at sunrise to capture amazing shots and later dabbling in wildlife photography. The day will end with a sunset shoot of mesmerizing sand dunes.
While photo tours might also include time in a classroom, the focus will be out in the field. But don’t worry there will be time for reviewing images and getting feedback from the tutors. The great thing is that this is all run in a relaxed and friendly environment with like-minded people.
But above all this, our photo tours are fun and enjoyable. They give you amazing memories of a destination to go with the great photos you’ll capture.
Whether you are a complete beginner or want to see how you can improve your travel photos, discover our photo tours for yourself. You’ll be amazed at how much your photography will improve.
Our range of photo tours are designed to immerse you into travel photography. Here are some of the things that you will learn on a typical photo tour:
– Understanding the exposure triangle
– Capturing amazing sunrise and sunset shots
– Scouting a location to find the best spots for potential shots
– What to look for and how to find unique shots
– How to capture images that sell
– How to photograph a location covering multiple scenarios and shots
– Image review and feedback from the tutors
– How to photograph people
– Being able to pre-visualise and subsequently executing the shot
– Ideal settings and techniques for each scenario
– Tips, advice, and techniques on composing your shot
You might be wondering what the difference is between a photo tour and a photography workshop ?
Photo tours are longer in duration than our workshops. Our photo tours typically range from 7 – 14+ days in length. They allow us to move around the country or area where the tour is taking place.
The main goal of our photo tours is for you to build a diverse collection of images from that destination.
Workshops are generally shorter in duration. Our photography workshops are usually 1 – 3 days and are held in the UK.
The main focus of a photography workshop is for you to learn something. Often this will be on particular topics or themes. For example, we might focus on market photography one day and street photography on another day.
Workshops also include more time dedicated to things like camera settings for beginners, or how to use filters and image reviews. We highly recommend that you check out our workshops if you are a beginner.
We don’t like large tour groups. It makes it less inviting and harder to give people individual tuition and it can also have an impact on the community we are visiting. We often work with local photographers and guides to offer photo opportunities that you won’t be able to get by yourself, therefore, our photo tours are often limited to 10 people. They will always be run by at least one experienced professional photographer .
Do you have a question or want to know more? Or maybe you are just not sure if our dream photo tours are right for you? Don’t worry. Get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Join us on an amazing day to photograph the world’s most iconic prehistoric monument…at Sunset and Blue Hour!
We’ll spend several hours on site making the most of what nature serves up as the light changes. The unique stones make a stunning backdrop for long exposures, which are possible in the “Blue Hour” even if you don’t have filters (wired/remote triggers advised).
We’ll be shooting from the north and east aspects of Stonehenge which is the most attractive side and also perfect in winter as the sun sets in a south-westerly direction thus giving us our best chances of colour in the sky!
Situated on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, the early henge was built around 5,000 years ago & the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period, ~ 2,500 BC, with final modifications estimated to have been made around 1,500 BC. Stonehenge consists of an outer circle of 30 standing stones called “sarsens”, which surrounded five huge stone arches in a horseshoe shape. There were also two circles made of smaller “bluestones” – one inside the outer circle & one inside the horseshoe – as well as four “station stones” positioned outside the central monument.
Don’t have a telephoto lens & want to take some close-up pics like the sample shots? We’ve got you covered as we’ll have multiple camera setups, lenses, & teleconverters available to borrow (please let me know when booking).
Recommended Equipment
- Wide angle lens – 16-35mm, 10-24mm, 14-24mm (recommended if entering Stonehenge grounds)
- Walk around/kit lens – 18-55mm, 24-70mm, 24-105mm
- Remote shutter release – we prefer a wired trigger as it saves battery over using your phone with wifi/bluetooth or a wireless trigger to reduce camera battery drain.
- Spare camera batteries – multiple long exposures can drain batteries quickly.
- Battery Charger (we have charging facilities on our vehicle)
- Extra memory cards
- ND Filters – optional/recommended for long exposures
- Weather appropriate clothing
Included / Not included
- Professional photo guide & tuition.
- Return transportation from London in our comfortable 8 seat vehicle.
- Battery charging facilities in vehicle
Not included:
- Food & drink
- Travel to start point or from end point of tour.

Where We'll Meet
Return journey will have two drop-off points. The first is in central London, close to Warren Street, Euston Square, Euston, & Great Portland Street tube stations.
Second drop-off point will be West Acton Station.
We expect to return to London between 19.00-19.30.

Dion Hitchcock
UK Photo Tours is owned and operated by professional photographer, Dion Hitchcock.
Dion brings over a decade of expertise in teaching and guiding photography. He is an expat Australian and when not running photography tours, resides in London, UK, running photography workshops or as a locum pharmacist. His extensive travel experiences, spanning over 40 countries, ignited his passion for photography as a means to chronicle his journeys. This passion quickly evolved into a profound interest, leading him to actively participate in various camera clubs, assisting them in conducting workshops. Today, Dion independently operates his own workshops mainly across the UK, and occasionally internationally.
His London-based photography Meetup groups have 7,000+ members and over 500 5-star ratings.
Dion still maintains his registration as a pharmacist professional, dedicating his time to aiding patients and educating pharmacy students. However, he has transitioned his time into the realm of photography, where he assists clients in understanding the craft’s technical and artistic aspects. This shift, though unconventional, aligns with his upbringing; both of his parents were artists who nurtured his appreciation for the world’s inherent beauty. His extensive photography experience, professional background, passion for teaching, and numerous five-star reviews ensures you’ll be in the best of care whilst on tour.

Event Photography Pricing: 2024 Rates in the UK
You’re carefully drafting the budget for your upcoming event when it dawns on you.
You’ve got no idea about event photography pricing across the UK.
Since you’re still in the phase of planning an event , you’re not ready to hunt for a specific photographer, but you still need a ballpark for your budget.
Breathe. You’ve just landed on Eventbrite’s event photography pricing guide.
With nearly 20 years of experience in the events game, we’ve worked with our fair share of photographers and event organisers. We’re here to guide you on how to find the perfect photographer for your event without making a gazillion phone calls.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
How much does an event photographer cost.
- What factors affect event photographer pricing?
How to find the perfect event photographer
Tips for negotiating a fair event photography price.
Event photographers generally charge between £125–£175 per hour , depending on several factors (we’ll do a deep dive into those in the next section). However, you may come across event photographers offering much lower or higher rates.
When you hire an event photographer, you’re paying for specialised equipment and skills, time and labour during the event and post-production editing time.
What factors affect event photographer pricing?
Comparing photography price lists via websites is useful, but it doesn’t take into account your specific event details. Here are some of the major factors that can influence how much event photography will set you back:
Your event’s location and travel
Location is a major factor.
The cost of living is different across various cities around the UK, which naturally affects hourly rates and wages.
For example, a two-hour shoot in London will cost much more than a two-hour shoot in a smaller, rural town.
Bear in mind as well that if your event is in a remote place, like the Scottish Highlands, you’ll have to pay your photographer a premium to get all the way out to you to cover their transportation costs.
The kind of event you run
The type of event you host also has a large impact on photography rates.
To give you an idea, these are the average prices for different event types:
- Birthday party: £150 per day
- Corporate event: £350–£700 per session
- Wedding: £800–£1,500 per day
- Concert: £350–£700 per session
There’s a big difference between a £150 birthday and a £1,500 wedding, huh? This price difference also takes into account a photographer’s professional experience, location, and other factors.
The photographer’s experience
Experience has a huge impact on pricing. Expert Photography notes that the top professional photographers can charge as much as 5x what a student photographer would for the same event.
The big question is: How much experience do you want your photographer to have?
If you’re organising a wedding or high-profile event, you might prefer someone who’s experienced in capturing a special day. After all, you can’t go back in time to repeat the photography session! But bear in mind that the more experienced the photographer will be, the more expensive your ticket prices will need to be.
While people can expect to pay a lot for a large event, they won’t want to spend hundreds of pounds on an event for a small gathering. So make sure the photographer rates are in line with your ticket costs.
The kind and quantity of photos you need
Occasionally, a photographer will provide all of the images taken during the session, but most photographers offer a basic package with a fixed number of photos and an option for extras at an additional cost.
You also need to consider what kind of photos you’re after.
Live-action photography requires different skills and equipment than static photography. And if you want to add a photo booth to the event, you’ll need to factor in what your photographer charges for bringing that along, too.
The degree of photo editing required
Finally, you need to consider how much post-production work you want or if you’ll handle the editing yourself.
Are you looking for a quick turnaround? (in which case, there will be minimal editing). Or do you want your photographer to put in time to make your images pop?
In the case of a wedding photo shoot, you’re probably going to opt for the edited version.
But if you’re putting on a corporate event and just want to capture the night and create a few memories to share with attendees afterwards, then you might be happy with the raw files.
About to start looking for a photographer for your event?
Follow these five tips for capturing the day with the perfect event photographer.
Get clear on your expectations
What you end up paying for a photographer depends on the details of your event.
To start off pricing on the best foot, give your photographer detailed information about your expectations so they can factor that into their quote.
Most event photographers want more details. Compiling a few examples of what you’re looking for is a good practice to help you here. Remember: Photographers are visual people!
Here’s a quick breakdown to make sure you’re prepped before contacting photographers:
- How many photos do you need?
- What are the photos of?
- How much editing do you need the photographer to do? (e.g., raw vs. edited)
- How long does the photographer need to be on-site?
- What additional equipment do you need? (e.g., a photo booth)
- What is your total budget for event photography?
Establishing this clarity will help prevent miscommunications and misaligned expectations.
In addition, establish upfront whether you’re paying for the memory card full of photos or per image.
“More junior photographers will give you all the files on the card, whereas more experienced ones may charge you by the image that you license,” says Brian Beaver, ex-VP of Design at Eventbrite.
A good practice here is to create an event photography brief that you can share with potential photographers.
No need to go searching. We’ve got a free photography brief template right here:
Reach out to your network
Many photographers consider “word of mouth” as their main driver of business.
As someone looking to hire a photographer, going through the recommendations route is your best shot at finding a reliable, quality partner.
Ask for recommendations from friends and colleagues, and talk to fellow organisers for recommendations. They can tell you what typical photography rates are in your area.
Take your search to the web
Head to social media and upload a couple of posts asking for recommendations (sharing a little bit about the event itself so people can point you in the right direction).
Dive into relevant Facebook groups, and you’ll likely find that others have already asked the same question, and the answers are already out there.
Another great option is Splento , the event planner’s secret weapon for organising event photography.
You can use Splento to find photographers in your local area, book a shoot, and manage photo editing and delivery.
A final option is to check out other event websites and look for photo credits as a direct method of finding photographers whose work you like.
Use portfolios to find your perfect photography partner
Most professional and freelance photographers will have some type of portfolio or website.
For example, photographer Susannah Fields has a detailed portfolio divided neatly into different event types so potential customers can quickly determine if she’s the right fit.
Now, dig through that list of potential photographers you’ve found and narrow it down to a shortlist by reviewing each photographer’s portfolio.
Half of this exercise is simply to browse each photographer’s online gallery of past work to see if they’ve shot similar events and have the right level of experience.
But more than that, you’re looking for photos that make you say, “That’s what I want!” That might be a specific style or feel, or it might even be something you can’t specifically describe, but you know it’s what you’ve been hunting for.
Search for reviews
Finally, take a look at some reviews from previous customers, preferably those who’ve run a similar kind of event to the one you’re planning.
Ideally, you’ll want to find reviews published on a public forum rather than testimonials the photographer shares on their own site, which are obviously only positive.
Both are valuable in assessing whether you want to work with a given photographer. Bear in mind that reviews on a platform like Trustpilot are likely to be more objective and paint a fuller picture of what it’s like to work with a given event photographer.
Event organisers often negotiate pricing with photographers to stay within their event budget .
It’s important to stay respectful during the process.
Beyond that golden rule, here are a couple of helpful tips to help you secure a reasonable price.
Negotiate on the package price, not the hourly rate
Rather than asking a photographer to reduce their hourly rate, ask for a discount on a package. That way, you don’t come across as if you’re discounting the value of their time, and you’ll have a better shot at getting a positive response.
For example, if a photographer’s headline rate is £150 an hour, you might ask for a six-hour package at £780 (usually £900).
Note that in many cases, a reduction in price will likely come with a reduction in services, and not all negotiations are guaranteed.
Only negotiate with photographers close to your price range
Don’t come into the conversation looking to haggle a £2,000 package down to £800. That’s just going to be interpreted as disrespectful and isn’t likely to get you very far.
A good ballpark is to negotiate in the 5–10% range, maybe pushing it to 20% for larger packages.
For example, you could attempt to negotiate a £2,000 package down to £1,600.
Expect that most photographers will respond to your initial offer with a counteroffer.
Think about other benefits you could provide
“There are ways to subsidise the photographer,” says Misha Vladimirskiy, a partner at Filterless.co who has photographed events like Coachella.
“Put the photos in a gallery on your website that gets a lot of views, and get a brand to sponsor that page. Or, if your Instagram account has amazing photographers and followers, brands may give you money to be featured.”
Be careful here.
The photography industry is infamous for receiving requests for work in exchange for “exposure.”
Don’t ask someone to work for free. Instead, negotiate using these “extras” as part of a package that does include remuneration.
Be as detailed as possible in your vendor contract
Contracts are vital when working with event vendors like photographers.
They help you state the exact scope of work and avoid any issues down the line.
More details are better here, but at a minimum, your event agreement should include:
- How long the photographer will be on-site
- How many photos will be delivered
- The timeframe to deliver visuals after the shoot
- What kind of post-production work will take place
- What format will you receive the photos in
- What does the photographer charge and any overage fees
- Payment terms and timeframes
- What you need to provide for the photographer
Frequently asked questions
What should be included in an event photography package.
Every event photography package looks slightly different depending on factors like the kind of event you’re running and what photo format you need.
Most event photography packages include the following (with variations depending on your needs):
- One–four hours of photography time
- Photo editing and retouching
- A specified number of photos delivered (at your selection)
- All equipment and personnel required to capture photos
- Pre-event consultation
- Travel costs
How much is a photoshoot for a concert?
Concert photography typically costs between £350–£700.
Some photographers will offer a package deal, whereas others charge a fixed rate per hour.
How many photos should an event photographer take?
The number of photos an event photographer takes depends entirely on the length of the event. It goes without saying that a full-day event should give you more photos than a two-hour one.
A good ballpark is around 50–80 photos an hour.
It’s a common practice for a photographer not to share all of the photos they take.
That’s because event photos typically require some editing and digital correction, and there’s no point going through this process for hundreds of photos when you’re only going to use a few dozen.
How many photos do you need for a 2-hour event?
Somewhere around 120 photos is a good expectation for a two-hour event.
How much to pay a photographer
As you’ve seen, a lot goes into determining photography event rates.
From location to event type and length to the experience level of your chosen photographer, many factors influence what you pay.
Whether you have a £300 or a £5,000 budget for event photography, you’ll have to find a person and package that fits your scope.
The important thing is that you do your research and make sure you’re paying a fair and reasonable price for your area.Once you’ve got your photographer locked in, it’s time to check off the next thing on your event planning checklist : choosing an event theme .
Plan an event you’ll be proud to share
