The lady on the phone was awesome. She guided us very nicely and explained me all about the boat ride. We were all excited but the moment we entered the boat I immediately felt an unwelcomed kind of vibe from our boat captain. Nothing happened the way the lady explained: 1. The captain totally silent and didn't even explained anything. I had to ask him and then only he talked and said about the river and the buildings 2. There was no bathroom break and we had to hurriedly run out to find the bathroom 3. The most irritating part was when we said that he expected $100 tip.... Really dude. You expected $100 for a SHITTY service. Hello NO..... $1 would be even too much One good thing is that he waited for us to get the purse that was left because we hurried out. Well this boat ride would have been different if we were whites
SO MUCH FUN! There were 6 of us in our party and our cruise exceeded all of our expectations. Captain Dale was fun, knowledgeable and accommodated any/all requests. We did the 1:00 PM tour and it was the perfect time of day. We were able to bring our cooler and any beverages we wanted. We stopped and took some awesome pictures along the way and could play the music as loudly as we wanted. It is definitely more spacious than expected, which was nice. Would 100% recommend!
Outrageously fun experience. The captains are well trained, knowledgeable, and have lots of cool stories to tell. The tour is a great way to experience Pittsburgh's Rivers. The pace is relaxed and unhurried, about 3-4 miles an hour, which allows you plenty of chances to appreciate the scenic views. You can bring 6 guests, children are welcome, too. They provide bottled water and an ice cooler, the rest is BYOB. The biggest downside is the price. It's $400 for 2 hours, and $700 for 4 hours. On top of that, the website mentions the captains work for tips. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. A private 1 hour Just Ducky tour is $650 for 30 people.
Fabulous experience--only the 5 of us in our party, great views of Pittsburgh!!! Was so much fun, I would do it again!! Our captain Jason was fabulous and also had lots of inside knowledge. Highly recommend!!
A phenomenal time to be had, cruising on theTiki's! Safe watercraft, stable trips on the rivers, piloted by USCG certified Captains! Enough room to get around and have fun. The reactions of other boaters is fun to watch. A good friend was actually married on one of the crafts. This is fun for family and friends. Take a cooler of libations and have a great time!!!
This exceeded my expectations. Captain Dale was great, the tour was fun & informative to the degree we wanted, and I will definitely be back. The boat was much more spacious and "legit" than I expected. Nothing I could find that was negative!
I'll lead with the downside...$400 for a 2 hour tour for six people max. I knew that going in though. For me, although it was a lot of money, it was an event. For my dad's birthday, we booked the 8:30 tour on a rainy Friday night. We were excited. The minute I saw that tiki hut slowly sailing (sailing? do they sail if they don't actually have a sail?)...motoring down the river by the Point I KNEW I had to book it. It's BYOB. I guess that might be a downside...the logistics of the evening were certainly complicated by it. What to pack, where to keep it, how to carry it...that kind of stuff. But it also allowed us to pretty much make it whatever we wanted to make it. We chose a tiki-centric theme with straw hats, cigars and mai-tais. There were no regrets. The captains work for tips. They're super friendly, (at least Dale, our Captain...Captain Dale...Jesus, show some respect), flexible and accommodating. We were a bit chilly walking to the mooring (is that what that was? it wasn't really a 'dock', cause it's just tied up by the water steps on the North Shore) in the rain, and I honestly worried I under-dressed in my shorts and Hawaiian shirt, but the river and perhaps the boat itself were warmer than the air around us and even the frailest of flowers in our group doffed their rain coats or jackets once we were under way. It was a very intimate river experience. Did you read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? If you didn't, there's a part in the book where the author talks about the difference between experiencing the road via motorcycle or viewing it from a car. In a car, behind a windshield, it's almost like you're observing your own trip, rather than experiencing it. On a motorcycle, he opined, you feel the wind, the grit, the sun on your face, smell the grass, EXPERIENCE the trip. The Tiki Cruise reminded me of that. The Tiki Cruise was the motorcycle to the Gateway Clipper's car. You're at the water...hell, if you really want, the Captain might even let you take hold of the tiller (is it tiller? wheel? whatever). Leaving at 8:30 we could have (overcast skies did not permit in our circumstance) seen the sun setting behind the cityscape, watched the sky purple into night and the city stir and blossom into twinkling wakefulness. We got all of that but the sunset. The rain stopped almost as soon as we stepped onboard, the Captain informed us it would as he monitored the radar on a phone app. I streamed music over the speakers, we broke out the mai tais and cigars and spent a leisurely two hours taking in the sights and meandering around the boundaries of our vessel, pairing off to talk almost like a floating dinner party. We, all of us, loved it. Yes, it's expensive. But split $400 six ways with some friends, and it's a quite manageable $67. There were hooks under the bar for purses and bags, storage behind the bar for phones or spare coats, ice and a cooler for drinks. I would highly recommend it for a friends' night out, a date, a company team-builder, you name it.
First time on Cruisin Tiki to celebrate my sons 30th birthday.. i cannot say enough about how much fun we had.. we brought take out from the Hard Rock and a packed cooler.. Captain John was amazing.. he loved us and we loved him right back we danced and sang and had many cocktails.. everyone in the group had a great time.. for 2 hours we felt like we were on vacation
Birthday boy
Such a fun time! Our captain was great! I agree with the other reviewers that it was a bit expensive but, I knew the price prior to booking. Due to Covid restrictions, we were not provided water or a cooler to use but there was plenty of room to store our personal items. A perfect Sunday Funday!
A great Sunday Funday with Cruisin' Tikis
This is the best river tour I've ever been on! The captain was so amazing and accommodating. I can't wait to enjoy this all summer long!

Tiki boat tours coming to Pittsburgh's Three Rivers this spring
Fancy a tiki tour?
Cruisin' Tikis Pittsburgh says it will start offering tiki boat tours of Pittsburgh's Point from the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers this spring.
The boats, complete with thatched roofs, carry six passengers and the captain.
According to their Facebook page , rates are expected to be about $400 for a two-hour tour for six people, or about $67 per person.
"Experience Pittsburgh like you've never seen it before, by cruising the Three Rivers on a Hawaiian style Tiki Hut!" according to Cruisin' Tikis' website .
Cruisin' Tikis was created by Greg Darby of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., according to a report on GoErie.com . He started the franchise after putting a motor onto a tiki hut and getting a patent for his creation.
Tikis are on the water at several locations in Florida, and there are a couple in North Carolina and in the Bahamas. One also operates on Lake George in New York state.
Dale McCue is owner of Cruisin' Tikis Pittsburgh.
Starting in May, Cruisin' Tikis Pittsburgh says it will be offering two-hour sightseeing charters on the Three Rivers.
"We'll head out the Allegheny River, go past PNC Park, go past the convention center, come back down the Allegheny river, go around the Point, close to the Point ... head up the Monongahela ... and then we'll go down the Ohio River," McCue told GoErie.
They'll linger a bit at the Point.
"Unless you are a boater, you do not know what the iconic view of the Point and the fountain and the skyline is from the center of the rivers," McCue said to GoErie. "You just can't get that experience from going across a bridge or onshore."
The business provides a cooler, ice and a blender; passengers bring their favorite beverages and snacks.
Multiple boats will be available for larger groups.
Personal flotation devices are provided for each passenger. Children are allowed; those younger than 12 are required by law to wear a life jacket.
The tiki boats cruise at 4 to 6 mph. They are covered, so they operate in the rain.
Cruisin' Tikis Pittsburgh hopes to have charters available for special events, including concerts at Heinz Field, PNC Park and Stage AE, along with Pirates and Steelers games and other riverfront events.

Billie Eilish is launching a new tour that will bring the Grammy-winning singer to Pittsburgh this fall.
The concert is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13, at PPG Paints Arena.
Tickets for "Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour" go on sale to the general public Friday, following presales that start Tuesday.
Eilish will be touring in support of her new album , "Hit Me Hard and Soft," which is set to be released May 17.
In March, Eilish won the Academy Award for best original song for "What Was I Made For?" from the "Barbie" movie. It was her second Oscar win, coming two years after Eilish received the award for the theme song from the James Bond film "No Time to Die."
The tour will see Eilish continue a partnership with environmental nonprofit Reverb, following previous efforts that resulted in over $1 million donated to environmental, greenhouse gas reduction and climate justice projects. There will also be eco-villages set up at two locations in the main concourse of the arena, where organizers say fans can take part in sustainability efforts and connect with nonprofits.
Eilish is the latest addition to the 2024 concert calendar at PPG Paints Arena, along with Aerosmith's farewell tour, Jelly Roll, Bruce Springsteen, Heart, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire, Greta Van Fleet, Little Big Town, The Black Keys, Kacey Musgraves, Jeff Lynne's ELO, Iron Maiden, AJR and NF.
