Princess Cruises Dining Room Menus (with food photos)
Sharing is caring!
Are you going on a Princess Cruise? If so, you know that one of the best parts of cruising is the cruise food.
We’ve recently disembarked from a great cruise on the Regal Princess , and I thought I’d share the main dining room menus (main dishes, appetizers and desserts) with you. While the order of the nightly menus may be different, it’s likely that you’ll see these menus and food choices on your upcoming Princess Cruise.
I’ve included photos of the dishes we ordered as well, just to whet your appetite.
If you’re cruising with Princess, here is a Princess Cruises packing list that you can use: Princess Cruises Packing List 2022
Princess Main Dining Room – Things to Know
Dine my way.
Cruising in 2022 has changed, and this includes the main dining room experience on Princess Cruises . While in the past Princess had “traditional dining” and “Anytime Dining”, this has been replaced with “Dine My Way”.
You can now reserve your dining times in advance on the Medallion Class app as you get ready for your cruise. Please note, if you’re in Club Class , you don’t need to make a reservation.
In our experience, you could also just show up at the main dining room (in our case Concerto) and be seated without an advanced reservation as well, although there could be a wait time.
Princess Favorites
In addition to nightly menu options, there are Princess Favorites that are always available. We did see some changes from past Princess Favorites. One classic that remains is the famous Fettuccine Alfredo.
Order as Much as You Want
If you are interested in more than one appetizer, or want to try 2 main dishes, go for it! In our experience, the waiters were very accommodating and would even offer to add a lobster tail to our steak dinner one night when we were undecided between 2 delicious options.
Have more tips to share? Please leave a comment or let me know about a recent experience in the comments below this post.

Princess cruise dining FAQ
Is food on Princess Cruises included?
Sit-down meals in the main dining room, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, are always included on a Princess cruise, and the menu varies somewhat daily. Also included is a buffet, either called World Fresh Marketplace or Horizon Court, depending on the ship, as well as fast casual and grab-and-go spots on board that serve pizza, tacos, burgers, pastries and ice cream.
Specialty restaurants including Crown Grill, Princess's steak and seafood house, and Sabatini's, the signature Italian restaurant, require a surcharge that's priced at a flat rate per adult or child; some menu items also require an additional surcharge no matter the age of the guest.

Are drinks included on Princess cruise ships?
Select beverages are always included: iced tea, hot tea, brewed coffee, hot chocolate, milk, fruit juice, lemonade and tap water. Everything else, including soft drinks, wine, beer, cocktails, spirits and specialty coffees, must either be purchased a la carte or through one of the cruise line's beverage packages .
Do I need reservations?
Reservations are encouraged for the main dining room and the specialty restaurants, and it's best to make them as early as possible ; walk-in parties will be accommodated on a space-available basis. Guests can make reservations via the Princess MedallionClass app or at guest services once you're on board. If you wish to eat at the same time every night, you can do so by reserving your tables in advance.
Platinum and Elite Captain's Circle members have early access to reservations. Passengers booked in a Full Suite or Reserve Collection Mini-Suite don't need to make dining reservations as they will always be accommodated; they also have access to a dedicated space in the main dining room with expedited seating and an expanded menu.
Does Princess Cruises have an evening dress code?
"Smart casual" attire will be appropriate for the main dining room, buffet and fast-casual restaurants. You might want to pack something dressier for the specialty restaurants or one of the more upscale dining experiences like Chef's Table, 360 or a winemaker dinner.
On sailings that are five nights or longer, there will be one or more formal nights, which do require adhering to a dress code in the dining venues . Cocktail dresses, evening gowns or dressy pantsuits are appropriate for women, while dark suits, tuxedos or dinner jackets and slacks are required for men , along with dressy footwear. If you don't want to dress up or forgot appropriate attire, you're welcome to dine at the buffet or any of the other casual dining options on board during formal night.
Is there assigned seating in the main dining room?
There is no assigned seating at any dining venues on board Princess ships. However, if you are a solo diner or part of a couple or small group, your host might ask if you would like to sit with another party of a similar size in the main dining room; the choice is up to you.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
You can use the Cruise Personalizer to indicate your dietary preferences, including requests for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar and vegetarian diets. Kosher meals and baby food are available with advanced written requests. If you have allergies or medical needs related to food, you must inform Princess in writing — check the line's website for more details. Princess Cruises also recently introduced a series of vegan menus for dinner in the main dining room, including starters, soups, salads, pastas and main dishes.
Where can I get snacks on board?
You'll find lots of spots to grab a quick bite, dessert or coffee, including Coffee & Cones, Patisserie, Swirls Ice Cream Bar, The Pastry Shop, International Cafe and Gelateria — options vary depending on the ship. Food at these venues is included, but there is a charge for specialty coffees and teas unless you have a beverage package.
Is room service included on Princess Cruises?
Guests can use the designated button on their cabin's phone to order room service 24 hours a day; each order incurs a $5 delivery fee, which is waived for those with Princess Plus or Princess Premier status.
You can also use the OceanNow feature in the Princess Medallion Class app to order food to be delivered to your cabin or anywhere else on the ship, like the pool deck. This feature is included with Princess Plus and Princess Premium; otherwise, there is a one-time access fee of $14.99 per person per voyage and a $5 delivery fee per order. Food and beverage surcharges may apply for some items ordered via room service.

Princess cruise lunch menu in 2023 in the main dining room + brunch
So, what’s a Princess cruise lunch menu like in the main dining room?!
I was on a Princess cruise ship in 2023, and I got screenshots of the main dining room lunch menu. This is below!
In general on a cruise, you will get free food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
There are always free food options for every meal, plus snacks in between meals.
You can get pizza any time , and you can get ice cream any time during the day for free.
There are “ premium desserts ” on Princess cruise ships for which there is an added fee.
But there are always free dessert options, both in the main dining room and in the buffet.
There is a “ juice bar ” for extra health and wellness drinks for which there is an added fee.
There are “ specialty restaurants ” for dinner for which there is an added fee.
You can even get a light breakfast sent directly to your room for free by ordering room service for breakfast the night before.
There are also other food choices that you can get almost any time throughout the day too.
There is a buffet on Princess cruise ships.
You can eat at the buffet during your time on a Princess cruise ship for lunch. This is free.
You can get the buffet for lunch any day of the cruise on a Princess cruise ship.
You can eat at the buffet for breakfast and dinner too. This is free.
You can also go to one of the main dining rooms on a Princess cruise ship for dinner and breakfast . This is free.
And what about lunch in the main dining room?! Lunch in the main dining room is also free.
But lunch in the main dining room is not be available every day.
Lunch is served in the main dining room only on sea days.
You can make dining room reservations for dinner , but you can’t make reservations for lunch in the dining room.
You will just show up to the dining room during lunch hours.
Lunch hours in the dining room tend to be 12pm to 1:30pm.
Buffet lunch hours are longer.
Breakfast hours in the dining room tend to be 7am to 9am.
Dinner hours in the dining room tend to be 5pm to 9pm.
You will want to confirm the lunch hours (and other meals) once you are on your cruise ship.
This information can be found in many places, and one of the easiest places to look is the daily schedule of cruise activities (aka Princess Patter aka “Princess event listings”) that will be delivered to your room every evening. On the back side is a list of hours for different services and venues throughout the ship.
See below for a lunch menu on a few sea days on a Princess cruise ship!
Also below is how to see the lunch menu once you are on your cruise.
- cruise luggage tag holders
- basic binoculars for wildlife watching
Lunch menu in the main dining room on a Princess cruise ship
Food on your Princess cruise ship may vary.
But just to give you an idea, here is the lunch menu from the main dining room lunch on my cruise when I was on the Sapphire Princess, for a few of the days!
The lunch menu here is from April and May 2023.
Day 2 of cruise (sea day)
Day 3 of cruise (sea day)
Day 4 of cruise (Hubbard Glacier sea day)
How to see the lunch menu on your cruise
You’ll be able to see the lunch menu once you are on your cruise.
You can use the Princess app to see the menu for the day.
First, since not all dining rooms will be serving lunch, you will want to find out what dining room is serving lunch.
You can see this by looking at the back of the daily Princess activities schedule that will be delivered to your cabin every evening for the next day’s activities.
Then, you can look in the Princess app for the lunch menu of that dining room!
👆 Next screen: Go to “explore dining options.” You will be able to select a dining room, and then you can “view menu.” This is also where you can go to see the hours of each dining room. Not all dining rooms will offer lunch, so you will need to find the dining room that does serve lunch.
You can also see the lunch menu on the stateroom TV in your cabin !
And that’s to give you an idea of what type of lunch food might be on the menu in a Princess cruise ship dining room!
This lunch menu is from sea days in April and May 2023 on the Princess cruise ship I was on. Your experience may vary!
It was an Alaska cruise in May . (It started at the end of April.)

Sun Princess’ Horizons Dining Room uses the ambiance to flavor the experience
By cristine struble | apr 5, 2024.
While Princess Cruises might be the original Love Boat, the newest ship to set sail, Sun Princess, has guests swooning over its carefully curated dining experiences. Although lovingly gazing at a dining companion can make a person’s heart flutter, the sweeping views and intricate details in the Horizons Dining Room have guests’ eyes diverted in other directions. While the food and beverages captivate the tastebuds, the ambiance sets the tone before the first bite.
As Sun Princess begins its inaugural season, Princess Cruises looks to take the cruise vacation in a different direction. While guests have come to appreciate the hospitality and creative food offerings lead by Chef Rudi Sodamin , it is the look, feel, and design of the ship that invites the guests to allow the outside distractions to disappear. Even if that phone notification never stops binging, guests will choose to look all around instead of staring at another screen.

On a cruise, the main dining room serves as a gathering place for all. Whether it is a leisurely breakfast to start the day or the elegant multi-course dinner before the night’s entertainment, the white tablecloths and impeccable service invite the guests into a luxurious moment. These moments are far different from the quick grab and go bite hurriedly devoured while onto the next activity.
With the new Horizons Dining Room on Sun Princess, the expansive space was designed to appeal to Princess Cruises’ diverse guests. From the person who prefers traditional, formal dining to a more casual aspect, the three-story dining space offers a taste of everything.
Recently, FoodSided spoke with Sami Kohen, Vice President of Food & Beverage about the Horizons Dining Room. While Kohen believes that this particular offering sets Princess Cruises apart from other cruise dining experiences, it is more than just choosing to be different in the sea of sameness. The intention behind each decision focused on guests’ experiences.
Kohen explained, “Each level offers a distinct ambiance, from the elegant and formal setting on the lower two decks to the more relaxed and casual atmosphere on the upper deck, providing a different dining experience on each floor. The bottom deck (Deck 6) is your traditional main room dining with two fixed seatings, while the second deck (Deck 7) is for anytime dining or walk-ins. The top deck (Deck 8) is called Americana, a casual, diner-inspired venue that has an all -day menu including breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Reservations are not needed.”
That diversity ensures that the food experience never becomes stale. As Kohen mentioned, “This design provides a range of options to accommodate each guest’s dining preferences. And with menus that change daily on Decks 6 and 7, guests can eat something different for every meal if they choose to.”
Additionally, by changing the menus throughout the menu experience, Kohen believes that the Main Dining room caters to every guests’ preferences. Kohen explained, “All dining experiences onboard Sun Princess can create special moments for our guests. In Horizons Dining Room, menus change nightly so guests can enjoy a different dish for every meal if they would like–whether they choose to stick to their favorites or try something new, our culinary team is always prepared to create wonderful and memorable dining experiences.”
Since food is an integral part of the cruise vacation, the culinary team appreciates that catering to every guest needs to be addressed in a thoughtful, approachable way. The flawless execution and impeccable flavors are a given. It is the hospitality that Princess Cruises uses to set a higher standard.
Kohen said, “We meticulously plan and coordinate our menus and dining experience to ensure that each guest's needs are met and that the experience is seamless and enjoyable. The team is trained to anticipate the needs of guests and to provide personalized service to ensure that every guest is taken care of.”
Those needs are more than carefully placing a napkin at the start of a meal or remembering a drink preference, it is the willingness to make a connection at the table. The food might satiate a hunger, but the warm, welcoming staff makes the meal memorable.
Even though the Horizons Dining Room might serve an abundant number of guests throughout the day, the space is designed to allow guests to savor the moment. Whether it is a bright ray of sunshine shining on the table or the gentle roll of the waves as the ship cuts through the water, the openness and airiness of the design are sophisticated, alluring, and mesmerizing,
That ambiance turns a meal into an experience, a moment, and a lasting memory. As Kohen commented, “The atmosphere and view of Horizons are a big part of the dining experience, and we are very proud of what we’ve created here. We expect, and hope, that guests do linger a little longer while dining! We want to create a relaxing and enjoyable dining environment where guests can truly savor their meals and take in the stunning views.”

Princess Cruises Changes Dining Times and Updates Menu
By: Sherry Laskin · Updated On: November 2, 2023
Princess Cruises changes dining times plus Chef Curtis Stone menu updates
Two items of interest this week for Princess Cruises fans and they both have to do with dining.
The first news item is that Princess Cruises has changed dinner dining times in the Main Dining Room for their traditional, fixed-seating dining option. Dining times that used to be 5:30pm and 7:45pm are now 4:45pm, 5:15pm and 7:15. What?
In disbelief after learning about this from Cruise Radio while getting ready for our weekly news brief, I phoned Princess Cruises to hear for myself about the new dining times. It’s true. Without notice and without first notifying already-booked guests and their travel agents, Princess Cruises has pushed back dining times. The new traditional dining times have been implemented nearly fleet-wide, the exceptions being on those ships cruising in Asia and Australia.
Apparently, passengers already booked were pretty surprised when upon closer inspection of their cruise confirmation, to see that their original 6pm dining was changed to 4;45pm. What if you have an all-day or late afternoon shore excursion? Princess Cruises says no worries. Everything from champagne toasts to gala production shows are being adjusted to accommodate the change.
The cruise line says it’s doing so based on passenger requests for earlier traditional dinnertime dining. My first thought was, wow…is the demographic for Princess Cruises really that elderly? Sure, it’s supposed to be healthier to eat dinner earlier rather than later, but don’t tell that to anyone outside the U.S. where dinner time can be 9Pm and beyond.
Since all or almost all the ships that headed for Europe this past summer have returned, it remains to be seen what will happen next year when the repositioning returns to Europe. I can’t imagine 4:45pm dining while cruising the Med or worse, Scandinavia or the Baltic, where summer daylight prevails til nearly midnight.
What to do if this happens to you? Immediately let your travel agent know or contact Princess Cruises to try to reschedule. Stay tuned for more info as it unfolds.
Princess Cruises SHARE specialty dining menu revamped
Over at SHARE specialty restaurant, the six-course, fine-dining experience from award-winning Chef Curtis Stone has been changed. The new menu offers include butter-poached chunks of Alaska King Crab and hard-roasted, double-boned Brown Butter Duroc Pork Chop. Even the main dining room will see something new. “Crafted by Curtis” dishes on the main dining room menu will soon be rolled out fleet wide.
Where’s SHARE?
On Emerald Princess and Ruby Princess. Chef Stone has personally curated this menu for a unique dining experience.
“Throughout my partnership with Princess Cruises, we’ve always worked together to create inspired dishes using a fresh approach to fine dining,” said Chef Stone. “We share a passion for bringing people together through food that creates happiness around the table. These new offerings at both SHARE and on the ‘Crafted by Curtis’ section of the main menu will continue to excite their senses, creating lifelong memories as they explore the world on their cruise.”
Here’s a snapshot at the SHARE menu items, available in November:
- Kanpachi – salt-water amberjack tuna thinly sliced and quick-cured in lime, featuring chilies, avocado and almonds
- Alaska King Crab – butter poached chunks of crab with “pee-wee potato salad” and confit egg yolk
- Brown Butter Duroc Pork Chop for Two – a hard roasted double-bone pork rack, with confit carrots, broccoli purée and a jus of whole grain mustard
- Almond Marzipan – warm cake paired with strawberry coulis, candied almonds and crème fraiche ice cream
The specialty dinner at SHARE includes an appetizer, salad and handmade pasta. The main course choices include a selection from the sea or land, followed by dessert. The cost is $29 per person includes one selection from each course.
Main Dining Room Selection
Guests choosing a “Crafted by Curtis” menu item in the main dining rooms can choose from new options that include Steamed Mussels, Chorizo and White Wine, Beef Tenderloin Tips and Mushroom Cobbler. These new dishes join past favorites like Chicken and Leek Pot Pie and Roasted Pork Belly.

Bigger ship, better views: 3 takeaways from Princess Cruises' newest vessel
I was rushing to make my dinner reservation on Princess Cruises’ new ship. But when I arrived at the restaurant, the view made me stop.
From the windows at the sushi eatery Makoto Ocean – part of a sphere-shaped structure near the middle of the vessel – I saw the sun sinking below the horizon, a reddish-orange dot on the Mediterranean Sea. The Sun Princess facilitates scenes like that by design.
“We wanted to make sure that within how we designed the (venues) and placed the furniture, we gave maximum opportunity for our guests to be able to celebrate those outward views,” Denise Saviss, Princess’ vice president of entertainment experience, told USA TODAY. “It is really, really unique to have so much glass on the ship.”
Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
That was one of several striking features during a recent sailing (the ship is now cruising the Mediterranean before it moves to the Caribbean in October). Here are three takeaways from the first in the line’s aptly named Sphere Class.
1. The design showcases views at sea and in port
Makoto isn’t the only venue that offers that kind of view.
Other spaces inside the Sphere – which also houses lobby-slash-entertainment venue The Piazza – feature similarly sweeping vistas across decks 7, 8 and 9. I watched the light sparkle on the water while I sipped coffee one morning at International Café, and patrons dining at Alfredo’s Pizzeria can take in the scenery during their meal from many seats.
That’s also true elsewhere on the ship. At Horizons Dining Room, floor-to-ceiling windows face the ship’s wake. At the other end of the vessel, the Dome, a geodesic structure that Princess has said was inspired by the hills of Santorini, is like a massive solarium.
The space – which will also host shows including acrobatics – has multiple tiers of loungers, an indoor-outdoor pool and the Cascade Bar (which comes in handy for cooling off, as it felt a bit muggy in the Dome at one point on a sunny sea day).
The overall effect helped to bring the outside in.
2. The ship is bigger but still intimate
Sun Princess is the largest ship in the Princess fleet, and the 21-deck vessel can accommodate 4,300 guests. But that doesn’t mean everything is huge.
Given the scale of the offerings, a number of spaces on board feel notably intimate. One night, I walked to Good Spirits at Sea, a cocktail bar crafted in partnership with mixologist Rob Floyd that also hosts classes, and thought I was lost before stumbling upon it tucked around a corner on Deck 7. Inside, the 40-person venue offered a laid-back alternative to other more boisterous nightlife options.
On Deck 9, the ship’s buffet-like venue, The Eatery, gives way to narrower hallways toward the aft with backlit wood paneling and benches. At the end, they open back up to reveal specialty restaurants The Catch by Rudi and The Butcher’s Block by Dario (from Princess’ head of culinary arts, Rudi Sodamin, and in partnership with famed butcher Dario Cecchini, respectively).
Even the multi-configuration Princess Arena felt cozier than its near-1,000-guest capacity would suggest. I sat in the second-to-last row of my section for a performance by the vocal group ODY·C and was still close enough to see clearly.
3. The line leans into family-friendly activities
Part of Sun Princess’ expanded footprint has been used to broaden the line’s family offerings.
Park19, a new space on the ship’s top decks, features a variety of activities in an open-air setting. Saviss said the line worked to balance the interests of core customers and a growing family market “and make sure we're prioritizing spaces that everybody can enjoy.”
“There are some attractions that I think naturally, at first blush, people would say, ‘Oh, it's just for kids,’ but actually, the space is really comprehensive,” she said. “Our attractions are available for many different levels of ability and mobility.”
Those include Coastal Climb, an obstacle course that culminates in 360-degree views from The Lookout observation deck (the highest point accessible to guests on the ship, also reachable via elevator) and The Net ropes course.
On Sea Breeze, billed as the first Rollglider on a cruise ship, passengers will glide along the outer edges of the ship on an electric track (the ride will also be ADA-accessible, though Saviss said some mobility is required for maneuvering into the seat).
It’s as close as the ship gets to an amusement park (Princess’ version). “We're not running the rat race, if you will, of like, who can do it bigger, better,” Saviss said. “If you want to just have a really incredible bird's-eye view of Sun Princess, and in and around where the ship is sailing, you can do that. But there is an option to push a little lever while you're riding it and dial up the speed a bit faster, and then it does become a bit more thrilling.”
The ride was not yet available when I was on board, as the line moved through a testing, certification and training process, but is expected to open on April 27. Sun Princess’ original launch was delayed with the cruise line citing “additional technical work” needed at the shipyard, which pushed back the opening of some onboard amenities.
When is the best time to take a cruise?: We broke it down by region.
There is also a hammock area to chill when guests need a break, a recreational court that can host activities from pingpong to morning meditation, a jogging track and more. Elsewhere on board, guests will find the Firefly Park kids club and hangout spaces Neon Grove and The Underground for tweens and teens, respectively.
