Vacation Planning

Planning in advance is one of the best ways to get the vacation you want. The earlier you start to plan, the more vacation options you'll have to choose from AND the more likely you are to find what you’re looking for.

You should begin your search as early as possible. The earlier you search, the more exchange options you’re likely to find. RCI has a variety of search options to fit the needs of various types of vacation searchers.

  • Advanced Search: Allows you to select all of your desired criteria at one time and begin searching.
  • Favorites Search: If you generally search for the same type of vacation or resort each time, you can save your desired search criteria as a Favorite Search.
  • Ongoing Search: If you can’t find what you’re looking for in your initial search, RCI will continue to search for you, notifying you when a match is found.
  • Interactive Map: When you know the destination you have in mind and just need to find the perfect resort, the interactive map is a great tool to use.
  • Recommendations: Based on your search history and past travel, RCI will put together resorts matching your interests.

We understand a lot can change in a year or two. That’s why we offer Points Protection.* You may purchase Points Protection for your exchange vacation and have the freedom to change or cancel at any time with no questions asked. If you cancel your exchange vacation, the full allotment of Club Wyndham Points used will be returned to you for use toward another vacation. Please note, exchange fees are not covered by Points Protection.

*Points Protection is not insurance.

RCI has created three RCI® Award Designations to recognize our affiliated resorts that have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to quality and guest satisfaction, and which have met or exceeded certain standards.

You’ll see these designations next to the resort name when searching for vacations on the RCI website or when flipping through the directory. You can even filter your exchange vacation search results on the RCI website by award level.

Gold Crown Resort® Award: Select RCI® affiliated resorts are recognized as RCI Gold Crown Resort properties – the highest of the three RCI Award Designations. The RCI Gold Crown Resort award designates resorts that have met or exceeded specific standards in the areas of unit housekeeping, unit maintenance, hospitality and check-in/check-out procedures, and an evaluation of resort facilities, amenities and services.

RCI Silver Crown Resort® Award: Resorts that have achieved excellence in providing outstanding vacation experiences for RCI® members receive the RCI Silver Crown Resort award. This award designates resorts that have met or exceeded specific standards in the areas of unit housekeeping, unit maintenance, and resort maintenance, hospitality and check-in/check-out procedures.

RCI Hospitality Award: The RCI Hospitality Award is presented for consistently high ratings in the check-in/check-out and hospitality categories.

A digital version of RCI’s Resort Directory is available anytime. If you would prefer the printed version of the Resort Directory please call a dedicated RCI Club Wyndham travel guide at 1.800.572.0931.

We love hearing about your experiences at RCI affiliated resorts you’ve visited. Here’s how to submit a review: Step 1: Locate the resort you’d like to write a review. Step 2: Scroll to the bottom and click Write a Review. Step 3: Follow the prompts to complete your review.

Vacation Types

Exchange Plus provides you with added flexibility of using your Points and cash to book popular destinations such as New York City, San Diego, Chicago, Miami and more during peak travel dates. Each reservation requires the use of 77,000 Points and a fee paid to RCI based on the destination, dates, unit size, and length of stay. Should your travel plans change for any reason, Points Protection is included in the fee.

For members outside the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean, Points Protection is not included and the standard cancellation policy applies.

Extra Vacations SM getaways give you access to RCI’s exchange resort inventory without using your Club Wyndham Points. You can purchase a week (seven nights) at the available destination of your choice, and choose from thousands of options at everyday low prices. You can book Extra Vacations SM getaways regardless of whether you have Club Wyndham Points remaining in your account.

Even better, if you’ve used all your Club Wyndham Points in a use year, you can still book as many Extra Vacations SM getaways as you would like.

Last Call SM vacations are perfect if you are looking for a great deal on a last-minute trip. These vacations, with resort-style accommodations, are typically available 45 days before check-in.

Even better, Last Call SM vacations are purchased for cash, so if if you’ve used all your Club Wyndham Points in a use year, you can still book as many Last Call SM vacations as you would like. New destinations are added daily so check often.

If you’re thinking about taking a vacation in the next month, you can and with fewer Points. With RCI Express, you can exchange at quiet season rates when you book within 30 days of travel. To search for RCI Express vacations, simply follow the steps below:

Step 1: Click in the search bar from the RCI homepage and select See all RCI resorts.

Step 2: In the top navigation, click RCI Express to see the full list of resorts. Note, you may select this at any time with other filters applied.

Managing My Club Wyndham Points

Option 1:  Exchange your Club Wyndham Points for a vacation. Option 2: Gift your Points to family and friends through the Gift of Vacation program . Through this program, family and friends can book their own vacation. Option 3: Send family and friends on a vacation in your place when you buy an RCI guest certificate. Option 4: Extend your Club Wyndham Points. The Club Wyndham Points you have deposited into your RCI account are available for use for up to 2 years from the date of deposit. If you haven’t used them by the end of the second year, you may purchase a deposit extension for a small fee to extend them to a third year. Option 5:  Transfer your Club Wyndham Points. If you aren’t able to use your Club Wyndham Points, you can transfer them to another Club Wyndham Points member’s RCI account.

RCI lets you transfer your Club Wyndham Points to a fellow RCI Club Wyndham Points member one time per use year free of charge. Transferring Points is a great option if you have a friend or family member who needs extra Club Wyndham Points to complete a transaction or if your Club Wyndham Points are about to expire.

To transfer Club Wyndham Points to another member, please call an RCI travel guide at 1.800.572.0931. Currently, Club Wyndham Points cannot be transferred online. Please note, there are some restrictions and not all members are eligible to transfer Club Wyndham Points or accept transferred Club Wyndham Points.

Since Club Wyndham Points are good for two years from the date of deposit into RCI, you have the option to extend these points into a third use year. Points must be extended prior to their expiration and an extension fee will apply. This is a great option if you are unable to use your Points before they expire.

Visit the Club Wyndham site to learn more about the Personal Interval Choice (PIC) Plus program .

My Offers are exchange or rental offers available to you at a given time. From the RCI homepage, scroll down and you will see all offers available to you. Guest Certificates

An RCI guest certificate allows a friend or family member to check in to a vacation at an RCI affiliated resort booked through your RCI account. They can be purchased with cash and applied to an RCI exchange vacation, an Extra Vacations℠ getaway or a Last Call℠ vacation.

The easiest way to purchase an RCI guest certificate and apply it to a vacation is on the RCI website at the time of booking; however, you may also add a guest certificate to an existing reservation.

To purchase for an existing reservation: Step 1: From the RCI homepage, click Trips in the top navigation. Step 2: Click the Upcoming Trips tab. Step 3: Select the confirmed vacation you’d like to add the certificate to. Step 4: Click Add a Guest Certificate and follow the prompts.

For exchange vacations you, as the RCI member, must make the booking on behalf of your guest online or by calling an RCI travel guide. For Extra Vacations℠ getaways and Last Call℠ vacations, your guest can call a travel guide directly to book their vacation once the guest certificate has been activated.

An RCI guest certificate may be purchased online or through the contact center for $89 USD /$125  CAD and is paid by credit or debit card. Please note, regular transaction fees are still required.

Miscellaneous

If you previously booked an Extra Vacation ℠ getaway and find the same rental vacation at a better price within 24 hours we will refund you the difference.

RCI guarantees you will have access to at least 35,000 available Exchange Vacations at the time you deposit your Points.

Members are asked to provide feedback and rate their resort experience on return from their vacation via RCI’s comment card program. RCI uses comment cards to determine award levels for the Resort Recognition Program, Trading Power and to assist resorts in assessing the need for quality improvements.

To view pet-friendly resorts, please follow the steps below. Since resorts can change frequently, it’s best to call the resort directly to confirm. Step 1: Click in the search bar and select "See all RCI resorts" Step 2: Click on the"More" button in the top search filters. Step 3: Select "Pets Allowed" to view resorts that are pet friendly.

Points Protection

Points Protection allows you to cancel or change your vacation right up until the day of check-in, no questions asked.

If you cancel your vacation, you’ll be able to use your refunded Club Wyndham Points to book an alternate vacation. Without Points Protection, the standard cancelation policy would apply. Unless you cancel at least 120 days prior to check-in, you would only be refunded a portion of your Club Wyndham Points, depending upon how close to check-in you cancel.

To learn more about Points Protection, contact a travel guide Monday-Friday 8am-8pm (ET), Saturday-Sunday 8am-6pm (ET) at 1.800.572.0931.

Note: Exchange fees are not covered by Points Protection. Points Protection is not insurance.

Points Protection was designed to provide you with flexibility and peace of mind when booking your RCI exchange vacation. In simple terms, if you need to cancel your exchange vacation for ANY reason, Points Protection ensures that you will be refunded 100% of the Club Wyndham Points you used for the exchange.

Points Protection applies to cancellations made for any reason to RCI Points or Weeks resort vacations. With Points Protection, you can cancel or change your vacation until the day of check-in. You’ll never have to give a reason, it really is a case of no questions asked. If you cancel your vacation, you’ll be able to use your refunded Club Wyndham Points to book an alternate RCI exchange vacation.

We recommend that you purchase Points Protection at the time you make your exchange, but you can purchase Points Protection until the day of check-in.

The price of Points Protection is determined by your length of stay and the timing of your Points Protection purchase. Please see below for pricing information:

Purchased 30 days or less from the date of vacation confirmation AND 15 days or more before check-in date:

Purchased 31 days or more from the date of vacation confirmation OR 14 days or less from check-in date

RCI does not sell insurance of any kind; Points Protection is not insurance.

To add Points Protection to your exchange vacation, simply select Points Protection during checkout. If you would like to add Points Protection to a confirmed vacation, you can purchase until the day of check-in. To add Points Protection to a confirmed vacation, follow these steps:

Step 1: From the RCI homepage, click Trips in the top navigation. Step 2: Click the Upcoming Trips tab. Step 3: Select the confirmed vacation you’d like to add Points Protection to. Step 4: Click Add Points Protection and follow the prompts.

RCI New Cancellation Policy - Sept 7, 2020

  • Thread starter Papa2015
  • Start date Sep 6, 2020
  • Sep 6, 2020
  • If your plans change or you need to cancel a reservation booked prior to September 7, 2020, the Trading Power will be returned to you without penalty to book another reservation if cancelled by December 31, 2020.
  • For a limited time, RCI is pleased to offer enhanced Trading Power that now covers your exchange fee should you need to cancel. Purchase the enhanced protection before December 31, 2020, and if you are unable to travel, you’ll receive an exchange fee coupon for a future exchange valid for rebooking through March 31, 2021**. Protection always covers your Trading Power when purchased.
  • If you already purchased Trading Power or are adding it for your previously confirmed reservation, you’re covered if unable to travel by March 31, 2021**
  • If your plans change or you need to cancel a new reservation, the standard RCI cancellation policy would apply if you don’t have Trading Power Protection for that booking.
  • For a limited time, you may purchase the enhanced Trading Power before December 31, 2020, and if you are unable to travel, you’ll receive an exchange fee coupon for a future exchange valid for rebooking through March 31, 2021** if you need to cancel. Protection always covers your Trading Power when purchased.

Is everyone else reading this as.... Pay the $129 "Enhanced" Trading Power Protection fee, and then get your TPU's back in full....PLUS getting a coupon for the your next $239 exchange fee provided you book something by March 31, 2021......even if you will be booking something for traveling later? So instead of losing the entire $239, you would really only be losing the additional $129 cost of the Protection Fee? The two TPU's I would lose by cancelling right now, don't bother me as much as the loosing the exchange fee. Had hoped they would continue the other policy that ended Sept 6, but my December trip to Canada didn't qualify or I would have jumped on that.

For the short term stays this policy is not good, the cost of the "enhanced trading fee" is about 50% of the cost of the stay (points plus the exchange fee). I am wondering what will happen if the US-Canada border remains closed and we cannot go in October to VT. They mention: " If individual resorts remain closed or are otherwise unavailable for travel, additional cancellation flexibility may continue to be available ."

RCI is closed today.. but this is what is now on our confirmation page of the resort we are booked into on 18 Sept. . Highlands Resort At Verde Ridge #8651 Travel Dates: 18-Sep-2020 to 25-Sep-2020 Unit Size: 1 Bedroom Max Occ/privacy: 4/2 Kitchen: Full Protect your Deposit Trading Power with Trading Power Protection. With Trading Power Protection, if your confirmed RCI Exchange vacation is changed or cancelled for any reason the Deposit Trading Power used for that exchange will be fully restored. Add Trading Power Protection for just 129.00 USD . Trading Power Protection can be purchased from 01-Jun-2020 to 18-Sep-2020. So they are offering us this protection right up until the day of check in. We are going to cancel this tomorrow, assuming we will get our $229. exchange fee back (by coupon that can be used until December ) and our DTP, after we pay the Protection fee. So, in essence, we will lose $100. Up until September 6th, My confirmation stated that the cancellation Protection was $104 that would only give me my DTP credits back up until the day of check in. now it's changed to $129 that gives us DTP and fee credit that we can use for an exchange until 3/31/21. I'll be interested what they say to me tomorrow, as we have another booking in Vegas the week after this one. (We booked it in February before COVID. Doesn't matter, but..) Want to cancel that too...(nothing going on in Vegas) so we'll have to pay two protection fees? Stay tuned....

tschwa2 said: My guess if you booked before Sept 7 and it is cross boarder they still might be willing to waive or they may not and tell you that you can add the protection or not but regular rules apply if the resort is open. For bookings after Sept 7 I think they will not be waiving with the idea that you booked when you knew covid was a possibility and have or had the ability to book protection so they won't be waiving even cross boarders. My bet is that in due time they will start kicking the can down the road on both the 12/31 and 3/31 deadlines. Especially if the blanket policy is now to charge the inflated fees for points/TPU protection moving forward.

Am I the only one seeing a sort of free way of getting everything RCI charge money for? as I noted in the previous thread about the same topic RCI Europe offers the same for free. I’m thinking of moving my address back to Europe that way I can get everything RCI want $129 for.

Here is what totally bums me out. My two weeks for travel from US to Canada in December were made many months ago. I've been contacting RCI multiple times since July as cross border travel was not going to happen. Since my vacation was not til December, I was told to wait til after the Sept 6th offer expired. My other "local" trip for early this September was covered under the COVID cancellation and they gave me my TPU's and a certificate for the exchange fee for a future exchange for which I am grateful and promptly rebooked something that other members of my family could use. I would have willingly lost the degraded 2 TPU loss per week, if I could have gotten the certificates for the two exchange fees so I could use them in the US. But NOW, by waiting til their new rules came out on the 7th, The trading power protection fee has jumped from $104 to $129 per week. Yes, I would get my two TPU's back per week, but it will end up costing me another $129 x 2, to salvage the $239 x 2 of the original exchange fees. And for those of you who haven't checked out other RCI changes, you may want to look up the NEW RCI Weeks and Points Fee Charts that became effective as of Sept 7, 2020. Since the weeks used to book the Canada trip only have a few weeks left on the original use dates, I also now need to add a combining fee to extend them, so there goes another $231 investment.

What annoys me is with HGVC points, the points protection was $59, and could be purchased up to 1 day before check-in. It did not cover exchange fee. I called 2 weeks ago, and that's what they told me for my 2 exchange weeks to Mexico in December. Now as of Sept 7, they no longer sell points protection on exchanges made prior to Sept 7. But any exchanges Sept 7 onward can buy protection which includes the exchange fee now. Supposedly all the RCI CSRs weren't notified of the change until September 6. Today's CSR indicated this is the policy related to COVID, until March 2021. If air travel to Mexico was banned or a Mexican quarantine initiated then RCI would have to credit exchange fee. But otherwise I'll just have to eat 2 exch fees when I cancel. I'm waiting until late October.

My husband called on Tuesday, Sept. 8th, and requested to cancel our consecutive exchanges to Las Vegas and Sedona on September 18th and 25th. He explained to the agent that this trip was booked before COVID in February, 2020. No problem, he credited our full exchange fees and credits. Need to rebook by 3/31/21. From what we read and what I posted on the 7th, this seemed to contradict the new policy. Maybe because we booked before COVID?

Vegas next week - cancelled Two weeks in Cancun in December - cancelled Next Xmas in Cayman islands - cancelled, not due to covid, but cause my kids didn't want to travel at Xmas anymore. Used the protection two of the weeks cause i'll book something with the 104 TPU I have left remaining in my account. So my next two exchanges are paid for. May have to extend or combine those deposits as they give you back the same expiration dates as what you deposited. Still have March in Cabo (fingers crossed, i'll cancel by end of December cause their policy is good) and two weeks in Hawaii for October 2021. I have grown to dislike RCI, but I will say that they have done members a solid by keeping up with their covid policy. Canada is a jail right now - 14 day mandatory self-isolation upon international travel - even with a negative test. It's not the travel I have a problem with, its the two weeks of additional vacation I have to take to sit at home upon my return!

I called to cancel our Points exchange soon after the formal announcement was made to extend the Canada - US border closure to Oct.21st. this afternoon. We had booked a 10 night stay in VA beginning Sept.26th last April, foolishly thinking the virus would be over by now. I got a very nice rep and she said all the points would be returned to our account and a credit for the exchange fee would be added to our account for the next exchange. I did not need to pay any Points Protection Fee which we were happy about. Now to see if we can use all the points we are left with by their expiry next May. I hate paying to extend them and I doubt RCI will be extending anybody's use year by even 6 months, even though we couldn't go anywhere to use the points. ~Diane

I just cancelled April 2021 extra vacation week at Costa Rica. RCI kept $111 of the price I paid and returned the balance. I have until 3/31/2021 to use $111 credit on my next booking. They didn’t allow to use this credit to pay for my membership.

Before I throw another $129 down the rat hole, please tell me whether I understand RCI's cancellation policy correctly. In February 2020, I confirmed a unit in Bonaire for December 5, 2020. We can't go because Bonaire won't let us in. I used TPU's from a July 2020 unit for the exchange. I think: If I cancel, I get my TPU's back. If I buy Trading Power Protection and then cancel, I get my TPU's back and I'll have until March 31, 2021 to book another exchange. That exchange could be anytime before July 2022 . Is that correct?

Can we use the coupon for an ongoing search?

When your search matches you can call and ask them to apply the coupon.

As long as it is before the coupon expiration date. If they ask you to prepay the exchange to start the ongoing search, I would use chat to see if they could start the seach for free since you have the coupon.

Just got the shaft from money grabbing RCI again. Canadians are in a lockdown and advised not to travel beyond the grocery store, Have to get COVID tests before and after your flight at $200 a pop. According to RCI it's business as usual. So I Lost 2 exchange fees for Puerto Rico and got my points back that still expire in March. Offered the wonderful insurance for $190 a week so I could get a $330 exchange credit. These guys are worse than the mob.

RCI Travel: Best Rate Guarantee and Travel Rewards Terms and Conditions

RCI Travel Best Rate Guarantee: Terms and Conditions

  • Best Rate Guarantee – If You find a lower rate on another U.S.-based website within 24 hours of booking with us, We will credit or refund you the difference.
  • Reporting a lower rate claim – You must contact us within 24 hours after Your booking with us to make a claim under the Best Rate Guarantee. The lower rate must be available for booking at the time You contact us, as determined solely by RCI Travel customer service representatives. All qualifying bookings must be made using a valid credit card with a United States billing address.
  • What is considered a lower rate? – The lower rate must be for an identical booking as determined in our sole discretion. All booking details must exactly match the details of the product You booked through RCI Travel, for example the specific carrier or provider (including class of service), the specific hotel (including room type), the specific rental car company and vehicle class, the applicable refund policy, the dates and times of travel or service, the specific routings (for example, same stopovers), and other booking details including cancellation policies.
  • For any stand-alone product booking (for example, a hotel room or airline ticket), the comparison must be to the same product purchased stand-alone through the other website (i.e., not part of a hotel + air package booking). Except as otherwise noted below, the Best Rate Guarantee only applies to the base cost, and not taxes, service fees and other charges, of stand-alone Flight, Hotel, Resort, and Car bookings.
  • If Your qualifying flight is for a refundable ticket and You later refund the ticket, prior to completing all travel, any refund You receive will be less the qualifying difference already paid.
  • For all Vacation Packages/Tours, including Flight + Hotel, Flight + Hotel + Car, Flight + Car, and Hotel + Car, packages, taxes, service fees and other charges are included in determining whether you have found a lower rate.
  • The Best Rate Guarantee is not available for bookings on websites where the carrier, property, rental car company, itinerary or similar booking details are unknown until after the purchase.
  • You must meet all requirements imposed on the lower rate (if any) including, without limitation, residency, regional and age-related requirements.
  • The lower rate must be quoted and booked in U.S. dollars (without reference to currency converters).
  • Lower rate must be available to the general public online - The Best Rate Guarantee applies only to rates both advertised and available to the general public on an English-language website. For example, this does not include rates offered on other membership program websites, corporate discounts or rates, military rates, group, charter, rewards program, incentive, meeting, convention, consolidator or interline rates, rates obtained via auction or similar process, or rates available only by using a coupon or other promotion not offered to the general public. The lower rate may not come from a website where You call to get the rate, or from an e-mail that You received. The rate must be quoted, booked, and paid for in US dollars.
  • Verification - All requests, including receipts, are subject to our verification. We will not accept screenshots or other purported evidence of a lower rate that cannot be independently confirmed by RCI Travel customer service representatives. Nor will We verify any request that We believe, in our sole discretion, is the result of a printing or other error or is made fraudulently or in bad faith.
  • Limit – Each RCI Member shall be limited to three (3) Best Rate Guarantee claims per RCI Member per calendar month, regardless of the number of accounts used by the RCI Member. Any modifications, changes or cancellations made to an existing booking that has an associated Best Rate Guarantee claim will result in voiding of the claim. Purchaser will be responsible for any applicable cancellation fees.
