First ever cycling holiday and probably the best holiday I have ever taken and I have done a reasonable amount of travelling! All days were fabulous, different and unique. Favourite day probably was the climb up to Pico de Veleta for the effort involved!

On arrival into Malaga airport you will be transferred to the spa town of Lanjaron, the starting point of our classic loop of the imposing Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Lanjaron, famed for the quality of its drinking water, is the gateway to the Alpujarras, a spectacular region bathed in bright, clear light on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Before the Spanish reclaimed their land the Moors left an impressive scattering of whitewashed villages across the mountainsides and above deep ravines almost identical to those found in the Atlas mountains of Morocco.

Tomorrow we start our incredible journey.

  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch
  • Ascent: 1,900 Metres Approx.

After breakfast we will head off on our bikes straight from the hotel door into the heart of the Alpujarra. With stunning vistas across the deep Guadalfeo valley we’ll pass through Orgiva, the capital of the area and begin our climbing into the High Alpujarra.

We’ll pass the stunning Poquiera Gorge and the traditional, picturesque villages of Pampaneira and Bubion, perfectly situated for a coffee break to contemplate your first experience of the simple local architecture and handicrafts produced in the area.

Winding our way on well surfaced roads we’ll pass over the Barranco del Sangre (Gully of Blood) where a last ditch attempt by the Moors of the Alpujarra was defeated in a bloody battle. Legend has it the blood of the Christian soldiers flowed up hill in order not to mix with the blood of the Moors.

There won’t be any blood, but maybe a little sweat, as we pedal high above the Trevelez river and onto the village of the same name. Trevelez is the highest village in Spain at 1,476m and is famous for its succulent hams that are cured in the thin, dry mountain air.

A fast descent into the village of Juviles will give us great views of the Sierra de Contraviesa and take us down through the Berchules gorge to Cadiar our resting place for the night. Local mountain fayre will be on the menu, not forgetting that succulent ham to be washed down with the house wine!

sierra nevada cycling tours

  • Ascent: 2,100 Metres Approx.

Today we will head further east along the Alpujarra as we gradually gain height. Snaking through the villages of Valor, Yegen and Laroles that cling to the mountainside, we are rewarded with glimpses of the higher snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada, culminating in mainland Spain’s highest, Mulhacen, at 3,482m. Looking east from our vantage point we can see all the way to the desert lands of Almeria.

From Laroles at 1,050m we start the true ascent up to the Puerto de la Ragua. At 2,038m this is a tough climb rated as Category 1 and often features in the Vuelta a Espana. We’ll be rewarded though with views south to the Mediterranean and north as far as the Sierras de Cazorla and Segura in the far north of Andalucia. It’s a great place for a re-fuelling stop and a famous Skedaddle picnic of the best local produce. After lunch a 1,000m twisting descent takes us into the northern side of the range past the castle topped town La Calahorra and onto Jerez del Marquesado, nestled at the bottom of the beautiful Barranco Alcazar. It’s a steady ride into the cathedral town of Guadix, our home for the evening. The town is well off the beaten track and is famous for its cave houses that are still occupied today. This will be our chance to live as troglodytes as we stay the night in a cave hotel, but don’t worry they are now luxuriously appointed. It’s an excellent way to spend the evening in a magnificent desert landscape against the backdrop of the enormous snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

  • Ascent: 1,300 Metres Approx.

After a breakfast we leave our cave behind and head off on fast roads, rolling our way through undulating farmlands towards the Parque Natural de la Sierra Magina. This rugged park of precipitous limestone is a joy to cycle through. Its summits, culminating in the 2,165m peak of Magina are frequently snow capped, reflecting a special Andalucian translucent light, topped by deep blue skies.

The riding flows on with yet more stunning views. If we are lucky we may get a chance to spot a bonelli or golden eagle soaring high above sheer limestone cliffs as we pass castle fortified villages that were once Moorish strongholds. The scenery becomes dramatic and desert like, almost a mini Arizona, with sheer sandstone cliffs guiding us though the ‘badlands’.

We take on a favourite ride of the local Granadense crew through the stunning pine clad Parque Natural de Huetor. The road twists and winds its way across high ground before dropping towards the ancient capital of Granada. For our lunchtime picnic, it would be unjust not to soak our bread in the olive oil of Magina, as it’s said to be the finest in Spain and is often described as liquid gold. Just before we reach the city we swing east and climb into the real Sierra Nevada, to the village of Guejar Sierra, with great views of Mulhacen and Alcazaba, the highest peaks in the range. Guejar is the perfect springboard for tomorrow’s cycling feast.

  • Ascent: 2,500 Metres Approx.

This is a fantastic day on the bike, comprising the climb that all Spanish cyclists want to tick off their list. It’s a climb that will take us high into the Sierra Nevada on the highest drivable road in Europe, well that was until it was closed to traffic, but luckily not bikes! First off we’ll cruise around the Canales Reservoir and head up the beautiful valley, deep into the sierra. You can climb to the summit of Pico Veleta which stands at a grand 3,400m above sea level. The overall climb is pretty steady, but obviously its length and altitude create a great challenge. If you finish the whole climb to Pico Veleta it’s a whopping 2,700m of ascent! We stay off the main road that runs up to the Pradollano ski station by taking a little known detour up the picturesque Genil river valley. As this single lane road leaves the valley bottom it heads into a series of switchbacks that steepens the going a little.

Shortly after rejoining the main road we’ll reach the ski station at almost 2,500m. The views are incredible and the feeling of achievement is infectious at the roof top of Spain.

All that’s left to do now is let off the brakes and take the exhilarating, almost 50km, descent back to Granada on a different road. An evening stroll around the walls of the lit Alhambra Palace which without doubt is the most beautiful and innovative piece of architecture constructed by the Moorish people who occupied Spain. Then we hit the tapas bars for Granada’s infamous assortment of free tapas. Yes free!

  • Ascent: 1,250 Metres Approx.

Our final ride takes us from Granada at 700m down to sea level and the calm shores of the Mediterranean. Once out of the city, a steady climb will take us over the Puerto del Suspiro del Moro. From here we have an exhilarating descent from 1,200m down through the awesome Sierra del Chaparral.

We’ll take in some of the best views of the western edge of the snowy peaks as well as far down the coast of the Med. We’ll see vultures soaring high as we drop off this coastal ridge following the fertile banks of the Rio Verde to the lively coastal town of Almuñecar. A couple of sunset sangrias and a celebratory dinner will bring this great trip to a very fitting end.

Road Cycling Grade

Distances between 50-75 miles / 80-120km per day

For more regular riders who like to push themselves a little from time to time

Not extreme but certainly challenging on occasions with some good climbing opportunities

Our grading guidelines have been carefully created based on our many years of cycling experience, as well as customer feedback from our trips. Of course, if you're still struggling to figure out where you fit on the scale, do feel free to give us a quick call and we'll be more than happy to help!

For more information about our grading system click here .

Is this suitable for you?

You’re an enthusiast. Road cycling is probably your main hobby and you ride regularly at weekends, staying on the bike for much of the day. You’re in pretty good shape, and you might also participate in cylo-sportive events. You also love a challenge and are looking for a tour with some good climbing, preferably with an opportunity to tick off some famous Tour de France cols, or the like. You’re a competent descender, and you’re not afraid of speed, but you ride safely and within your limits at all times. You understand road etiquette and you’re comfortable riding in a bunch. You might even take a stint at the front of the pack if the need arises.

For more information about the grading of this holiday in particular, please check out the terrain section which will give you some specifics of what to expect on this tour.

Skedaddle are simply the best at cycling tours for serious riders. The overall package is first rate, the guides are excellent and the daily support is class! I wouldn’t travel with any other cycling company.

No Spain No Gain

A thoroughly lovely holiday from beginning to end... Steve is a credit to Skedaddle. His enthusiasm and passion for his role show through each and every day. It is very difficult to please a large group of diverse backgrounds, but he did as fine a job as possible. Well done, mate. I will forever remember that final stretch together up Pico del Veleta.
Breathtaking cycling! Breathtaking cycling. Good quality roads, didn’t feel unsafe on them and stunning views, brilliant – highly recommended. The big climb up to the Ski Station in Granada was incredible. Getting that high on a bike and the self-satisfaction of climbing it. Dan was very friendly and amiable. It felt like I had known him for years at the end of the trip. The other guide was very knowledgable, highly skilled and patient. A mechanical genius! I had regular contact, all questions answered and very little ‘faffing around’ The pre-departure information was very thorough and the holiday was definitely value for money. I would, without hesitation join Saddle Skedaddle again.
One of the best tours we have been on! There was a good mix of hotels which wre of high standard and gave good service. There was a fantastic mix of local produce and healthy foods – a highlight of the tour. Water, energy food, fruit and nuts were always plentiful and freely available The challenge pushed us to the limit and we are very proud we finished. The all-day climb to the top of the 30km climb was a real challengy but exhilarating. We enjoyed the trip immensely!
This trip has been my favourite cycling trip ever! The perfect combination of a well organised ride in beautiful surroundings on great roads. I was well looked after and only had to think about cycling during the whole week. A fantastic experience.
Thanks to Skedaddle for an excellent trip... Skedaddle are simply the best at cycling tours for serious riders. The overall package is first rate, the guides are excellent and the daily support is class! I wouldn’t travel with any other cycling company!
All days were fabulous, different and unique... First ever cycling holiday and probably the best holiday I have ever taken and I have done a reasonable amount of travelling… All days were fabulous, different and unique. Favourite day probably day 5 with the climb up to Pico de Veleta for the effort involved.

How to Plan a Bike Tour in the Sierra Nevada: Tips and Routes

Lisa Winget

But how do you plan a bike tour in the Sierra Nevada? What are the best tips and routes for a memorable and enjoyable experience?

Mountain bikers sierranevada

Tips for Planning a Bike Tour in the Sierra Nevada

  • Choosing the Right Time and Preparations
  • Time: The best time to do a bike tour in the Sierra Nevada is from May to October, when the weather is mild and sunny, and the roads are clear and dry. However, you can also do a bike tour in the winter, if you are prepared for the cold and the snow, and you stick to the lower elevations.
  • Duration: The duration of your bike tour in the Sierra Nevada will depend on how much time you have, how far you want to go, and how fast you want to ride. A typical bike tour in the Sierra Nevada can range from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the route and the type of tour.
  • Budget: The budget of your bike tour in the Sierra Nevada will also depend on the type of tour, the duration, the accommodation, the transportation, and the food. To save money on your bike tour, you can also look for discounts, coupons, or deals online, or book in advance or during the off-season.

Prepare for Your Bike Tour

Once you have chosen the time, the duration, and the budget of your bike tour in the Sierra Nevada, you need to get ready for your trip. Here are some things to prepare your own bike before you leave.

  • Pack: You need to pack wisely and lightly for your bike tour, bringing only the essentials, as you will have to carry everything on your bike or in your backpack. However, you should avoid bringing anything too heavy, bulky, or unnecessary.
  • Wear: You need to wear comfortable and appropriate clothes for your bike tour, as you will be exposed to different weather conditions and temperatures. Wear cycling clothes that are breathable, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying, such as a cycling jersey, cycling shorts, cycling socks, and cycling shoes.

Cycling in Sierra Nevada – Routes, Climbs & Accommodations

Cycling in Sierra Nevada is a beautiful combination of sea and mountains. It gives you the possibility to climb mountain passes above 2000m altitude and relax on the seashore during the afternoon. Sounds good, right!

Where is Sierra Nevada?

Sierra Nevada is a mountain range located in Andalusia, in southern Spain. Its name means snowy mountain range . Therefore, you can expect snow if you go there during the winter months.

However, spring and summer are the most recommended seasons of the year for you to enjoy cycling in Sierra Nevada. You will find less ski tourism, and the weather will be a lot more pleasant. You will also have the opportunity to take a relaxing bath in the Mediterranean Sea. Located in the province of Granada, in Sierra Nevada you should not find temperatures above 25 degrees in summer.

What do you expect to find in Sierra Nevada?

Mountain, a lot of mountains. If you are a mountain terrain lover, this is a destination that you have to try. You will definitely love it.

We are talking about a 2000 km² mountain range, where you will find the highest summit of the Iberian Peninsula – the Mulhacen with 3482m of altitude and the Pico Veleta (3398m), where you will find the highest road in Spain and Europe

Why should a cyclist go there?

It is a destination widely used by La Vuelta a España in its mountain stages, both for mountain stages and for the time trial. Many professional cyclists train in Sierra Nevada, and it has exceptional conditions for training:

  • First, being a tourist area, you will find a great hotel offer and you can find spas, hotels, and resorts to recover after a day on the bike.
  • Secondly, you will find a multitude of roads and routes for cycling in the mountains above 2000m altitude.
  • The last reason we want to highlight is that it will be easy for you to get there, since you have the international airport of Malaga quite close, and you can even get there by car.

That makes it an idyllic destination for cyclists, both amateurs and professionals.

Best climbs you can ride in Sierra Nevada?

We have already named some of the important mountain passes of Sierra Nevada, but now we are going to dive a little deeper.

The most popular point would be the ski resort of Sierra Nevada (Hoya de la Mora). Located at 2500 it is possible that you climb up here by different routes:

  • If you want a road without large slopes, you can climb to Hoya de la Mora (2500m) along the road to the ski resort. 30km that were traveled in a time trial in La Vuelta a España 2004.
  • Another way for you to climb to Hoya de la Mora is through Monachil and Alto del Purche . In the Vuelta a España 2017 was climbed this road. Here you will find a very hard mountain pass start with 6km at 12%.
  • From Güejar Sierra and through Hazallanas you can also access Hoya de la Mora . You will discover a very hard road with 15% ramps. The mountain pass of Hazallanas was climbed in the 2017 edition as well.
  • Another option is through the Subida del Duque , until the cross with Dornajo, with slopes of extreme hardness and cement sections.

But this is not all. If you want to climb above the 2500 meters level you will have two more options. The hardest would be to climb to the top of Pico Veleta . The road we have named above will take you up to 3200m altitude.

You can also reach 2800m at the IRAM Observatory. Reaching that level would place you above any stage of a cycling race. A challenge to overcome the Galibier or the Passo dello Stelvio, right? La Vuelta a España has never reached this altitude, can you climb until there?

What are the epic routes that you can ride in Sierra Nevada?

We have told you the best climbs in Sierra Nevada, but the best thing about this mountain range is that you can link several mountain passes to create a leg-breaker route.

If climbing to Pico Veleta has not been enough, you can link it with the climb to Collado del Alguacil that starts from Güejar Sierra.

You can also link the mountain pass of Blanclares with the mountain passes located near Pradollano.

If you are brave enough, we propose you the challenge of climbing during the same stage the Puerto de Blanclares, Collado del Alguacil, Puerto de Hazallanas, linking them with Hoya de la Mora and finally climbing to Veleta Peak. In 70km you will gain an accumulate elevation above 3000m and you will climb 4 mountain passes reaching 3200m in Veleta Peak. Do you accept the challenge?

The combination of the summits mentioned above are excellent routes for cycling and have been used many times by La Vuelta a España.

Where to stay if you are on a cycling holiday?

You have already decided that you are going to Sierra Nevada but do not know where to stay? Here we are going to give you some tips so you can rest properly after a long ride on the bike.

The ideal place to find accommodation at altitude is Pradollano. Here you will find a wide range of hotels and spas with good infrastructure to rest. Here you will find a good leisure offer too.

In the city of Granada, you could also stay. You will be near Sierra Nevada and the offer is varied in both hotels and leisure. You can taste a delicious “tapa” after your ride.

You will also have a wide range of hotels in Monachil, Güejar Sierra, and Pinos Genil, so, as we have said, the difficult thing will be that you do not find an accommodation that suits to you.

Where can you rent a bike in Sierra Nevada?

Renting a bike has many advantages. You do not have to worry about transport on the plane or the damage it can cause the flight.

It is probably that you flight to Malaga airport, and there is a good bike rental offer there, but you will need a car to get to Sierra Nevada, so we recommend that you rent the bike at a store closest to Sierra Nevada. Both Motril and Granada would be two good options. Near Motril, you will find the Cycle Sierra Nevada store . At the exit of Granada, in the direction of Sierra Nevada, you will find Nevada Bikes .

Sierra Nevada is an unbeatable area for cycling, where many professional cyclists train every year above 2500m. A highly recommended area of Spain where you will also enjoy great gastronomy and hospitality. Sure you will love it!

7 days/6 nights – self-guided, 4 star city hotels, inn & beach hotel.

Sea 2 Summit – Cycle Málaga to Sierra Nevada Loop.

The best road bike routes stick in your memory long after you have ridden a thousand more miles.  This is that route.

A challenging self-guided Spanish bike tour that encapsulates everything that is amazing about road cycling in Andalucia. This triangle shaped itinerary will leave you begging for more of these dreamy roads. Start cycling from the Costa del Sol’s favourite coastal city, Málaga, all the way to the top of the highest road in Europe, Pico de Veleta in the Sierra Nevada. That is from 0 to 3394m and back. One for the bucket list. Wow.

The terrain takes no prisoners. Cycle alongside the blue of the Mediterranean Sea. Then the mountains appear, with your ascent of the Cabra (the Goat), the super hors category Pico Veleta in the Sierra Nevada and the snaking pass of the Puerto del Sol (Pass of the Sun). With three nights beside the sea, two nights in historic Granada, and one in rural Andalucia, you can’t get better road biking in Spain.

These roads are ridden by La Vuelta a España over and over, and for good reason. They are totally inspiring.

We guarantee, you will not be disappointed. #TopRoadCycling

Day 1. ARRIVAL IN MÁLAGA

Arrive at Málaga airport and make your way to our nearby centrally located hotel. Enjoy the afternoon in this classy Costa del Sol city. Not just offering great opportunities for outside dining and drinking, but a thoroughly world class destination, with marina, historic cathedral, Picasso museum, beaches and of course lovely weather. (Airport transfers can be arranged).

Day 2. MALAGA TO ALMUÑECAR – COSTA TROPICAL

Ride : 72 km | Elevation Gain: 352 m After a hearty breakfast, prepare with an intro meeting from our guide and bike set. Then start riding with a beautiful coastal ride from Málaga to the Mediterranean town on the Costa de Tropical, Almuñecar. A ride that is local cyclists’s favourite, it keeps the sparkling Med Sea in view. A nice warm up to get your legs moving before tomorrow’s Awesome (with a capital “A”) challenge. Stop en route in the beach resort town of Nerja, famous for its seafood and viewpoints out to the blue seas. Relax in the evening at your beachfront hotel in Almuñecar.

Day 3. ALMUÑECAR TO GRANADA

Ride : 74 km  | Elevation Gain: 1604 m An epic climb.  We know the word epic is used a lot, but this time it counts. This category 1 ascent is called the Cabra (or goat in English!). An 17km monster climb is smooth to ride with hairpins leading you up what is regarded as one of the most beautiful climbs in Spain. Edging you away from the Costa, you wind your way up the coastal mountain.  The Vuelta never passes up a chance to go up it. Glide down into the tremendous city of Granada and enjoy a cold beer with tapas, a city speciality. You deserve it after today. Your 4 star hotel is wonderfully located for you to enjoy the sights of this famed place.

Day 4. GRANADA – SIERRA NEVADA & PICO VELETA

Ride: 94 km | Elevation Gain: 2600 m  Any cyclist worth their weight, has to give the Sierra Nevada and Pico de Veleta a go. The highest road in Europe awaits with a few tasty ramps to make you grit your teeth. If that doesn’t get you, the altitude might at 3394 m.  Over 35 km of constant uphill, it is a test of determination for all riders. What a downhill though! (Note in the winter months due to snow, the road may be closed – it is always open to 2500m / 25km climb which is great achievement as well and the finish of La Vuelta.) Love Hills? Have the opportunity to extend your stay here and try some of the other climbs and rides in the area.  You will be spoilt for choice around here.  Have a read of our Sierra Nevada cycling Blog to give yourself some ideas.

Day 5. GRANADA TO ALHAMA DE GRANADA

Ride: 75 km  | Elevation Gain: 853 m  Time to cycle out of the city into the tranquil countryside with a couple of longer ascents, out of the valley bottom lakeside to Alhama de Granada, stop by thermal baths to soothe muscles.  Take an early evening afternoon walk along the deep cut gorge. This is our home HQ so stop in to say “hola”. Relax in a gem of a place, a picturesque Andalucian boutique hotel. Love More Miles or Vistas? For another exceptional day of road cycling, stay another day in the countryside for a 100 km+ loop ride. Some hard climbs mixed with rolling ups and downs are abundant as you pass through farming villages. Visit the small town, in which National Geographic has designated, “One of the World’s best views of a village”. Cycle back and one more climb awaits, of course. A brilliant cycling day.

Day 6. ALHAMA TO MÁLAGA

Ride: 85 km | Elevation Gain: 952 m An unforgettable day awaits with great cycling miles and ever-changing scenery. A real mix of terrain and a lot of up and down, heading back to the Med.  Start off by getting out of Alhama to go through the famous Boquette, a rocky portal to the Mediterranean. A firm Vuelta favourite.  Cycling into the Axarquia, this micro-climate terrain is relentless. Make it more so with the ride up the cat 1 Puerto del Sol on the way and you will feel a real sense of achievement, before slipping into coastal Málaga via the Puerto de Léon, another Vuelta climb.  Pat yourself on the back for a tremendous ride! Love to keep going? Have another day at this coastal town to try some of the local climbs or even a coastal cycle with afternoon beach time. (Ask us about 1-3 more Days extension).

Day 7. ONWARD TRAVELS

Enjoy this beautiful seaside city with its superb food options, harbour, beaches and bars.  A wonderful climate which is blessed with outstanding cycling.

Remco Evenepoel in line for Tour of Flanders debut in 2025

Lefevere ponders sending Belgian to Milan-San Remo and the Ronde in reboot of Soudal-QuickStep's Classics squad

Remco Evenepoel could be making his cobbled Classics debut next season

Patrick Lefevere has indicated that Remco Evenepoel could make his debut at Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Flanders next season as he seeks to reboot Soudal-QuickStep’s Classics unit.

Evenepoel’s victories at Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2022 and 2023 had salvaged the team’s last two Classics campaigns, but the Belgian missed this year’s edition of the race after breaking his collarbone in a crash at Itzulia Basque Country .

The team’s struggles in this year's Classics campaign were again particularly evident on the cobbles, where they failed to make an impact at the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. Yves Lampaert was Soudal-QuickStep ’s best finisher at each race, placing 18th at the Ronde and 36th in Roubaix.

In an interview with La Dernière Heure , Lefevere acknowledged the need to revamp his cobbled Classics team for 2025.

Itzulia crash changes everything for Vingegaard and Evenepoel - Philippa York analysis ‘The pain is getting less and less’ - Remco Evenepoel optimistic after Itzulia crash Patrick Lefevere reveals Soudal-QuickStep held 'crisis meeting' after cobbled Classics campaign

“If you know someone of the level of Mathieu van der Poel , Tadej Pogaçar and Wout van Aert, who is available and financially viable, then I am interested,” said Lefevere, before acknowledging that he might reach for an in-house solution to the problem.

“But at the end of the year, together with Remco, we are going to see if there is not a possibility of doing Milan-San Remo and then going to the Tour of Flanders with a very specific programme.

“Then he can rest so he can take in Liège-Bastogne-Liège and after that the Tour. I think Remco is a bit of a Flandrien all the same. He sometimes trains on those roads. I'm sure he wants to ride the Ronde one day.”

The contracts of Soudal-QuickStep’s leaders on the cobbles this Spring – Lampaert, Kasper Asgreen and Julian Alaphilippe – are all set to expire at the end of the season. Lefevere admitted that he “could not be happy” with the team’s performance in the Classics.

“I don’t want to look for excuses, even if Julian, who was going well, couldn’t express all his quality because he rode a lot of races with a small fracture,” Lefevere said. “But maybe our potential is no longer at the same level as our expectations.”

Lefevere has already ruled out signing Jasper Philipsen for 2025, citing budgetary constraints, and he acknowledged that the DNA of his team had changed slightly as it shifted its focus to Evenepoel’s Grand Tour ambitions.

“Obviously, it’s changed a bit because we’re building a team to support Remco at the Tour,” Lefevere said. “I’d love us to be dominant on all terrains, but we don’t have the budget of UAE Team Emirates.”

Lefevere expressed confidence that Evenepoel’s preparations for his Tour de France debut would not be impeded unduly by the time off the bike since his Itzulia crash.

“I'm convinced of it: Remco will be ready for the Tour,” Lefevere said. “In 10 days, he'll be off to Sierra Nevada for a training camp at altitude. He's very relaxed because he knows that it's only April 21, and that he's still got plenty of time ahead of him.”
