Managing time and resources effectively

Prioritize tasks : Space missions often come with time constraints and multiple objectives. It is important to prioritize tasks based on their importance and urgency. Focus on completing the critical objectives first before moving on to secondary tasks.

Optimize Sim schedules : Plan your Sims’ schedules in a way that maximizes their productivity. Allocate time for skill-building, social interactions, and rest to ensure that they are well-prepared for space missions.

Use time-saving objects : Invest in objects that can help your Sims save time, such as high-quality computers for skill-building, fast showers, and energy drinks for quick energy boosts.

Manage resources wisely : Resources like fuel, food, and oxygen are crucial for space missions. Keep track of your inventory and make sure to stock up on necessary supplies before embarking on a mission. Avoid wastage and consider recycling or repurposing items to conserve resources.

Building relationships with other Sims

Form alliances : Building strong relationships with other Sims can be beneficial during space missions. Form alliances with Sims who have complementary skills and traits to increase your chances of success. Engage in friendly interactions and fulfill social needs to strengthen these relationships.

Collaborate on missions : Some missions may require multiple Sims to work together. Coordinate with your allies to divide tasks and work towards a common goal. Effective teamwork can significantly improve your mission outcomes.

Maintain positive relationships : Positive relationships with other Sims can provide emotional support and boost your Sim’s morale during challenging missions. Regularly interact with your allies and engage in activities that strengthen your bond.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

In the world of Sims 4 space missions, there are bound to be some challenges and setbacks along the way. It’s important to be prepared for these common issues and know how to troubleshoot them effectively. In this section, we will discuss some of the most common problems that players encounter during space missions and provide solutions to overcome them.

Dealing with mission failures

Space missions in Sims 4 can sometimes result in failure. This can be due to a variety of factors such as insufficient skills, lack of resources, or unexpected events. When faced with a mission failure, it’s important not to get discouraged. Instead, take it as an opportunity to learn and improve.

To deal with mission failures, consider the following steps:

Assess the situation: Take a moment to analyze what went wrong during the mission. Was it a lack of skills, equipment failure, or something else? Understanding the root cause will help you avoid similar mistakes in the future.

Improve skills and traits: If the failure was due to insufficient skills, focus on developing the necessary skills and traits for successful missions. Engage in activities that will improve your Sim’s fitness, logic, and rocket science skills.

Gather more resources: If the failure was a result of inadequate resources, make sure to stock up before attempting the mission again. Collect valuable items, mine for resources, or complete other missions to acquire the necessary supplies.

Upgrade equipment: Upgrading your Sim’s equipment can significantly improve their chances of success. Invest in better rockets, advanced technology, and protective gear to increase your Sim’s chances of completing missions successfully.

Handling emergencies in space

Space is an unpredictable and dangerous environment, and emergencies can occur at any time. It’s crucial to be prepared and know how to handle these situations effectively to ensure the safety of your Sim.

Here are some tips for handling emergencies in space:

Stay calm: In the event of an emergency, it’s important to remain calm and composed. Panic can cloud your judgment and hinder your ability to make rational decisions.

Follow emergency protocols: Familiarize yourself with the emergency protocols and procedures before embarking on a space mission. This will help you respond quickly and appropriately in case of an emergency.

Address the issue promptly: Identify the problem and take immediate action to resolve it. Whether it’s a malfunctioning spacecraft, a medical emergency, or a technical glitch, address the issue as soon as possible to minimize the impact on your mission.

Seek assistance: If the situation becomes overwhelming or you’re unsure how to handle the emergency, don’t hesitate to seek help. Contact mission control or other Sims who may be able to provide guidance or support.

Recovering from accidents and setbacks

Accidents and setbacks are inevitable in space exploration, but it’s essential to bounce back and continue your journey. Here are some strategies to help you recover from accidents and setbacks:

Evaluate the damage: Assess the extent of the damage and determine what needs to be repaired or replaced. This could include spacecraft repairs, medical treatment for injured Sims, or restocking essential supplies.

Learn from the experience: Use setbacks as learning opportunities. Analyze what went wrong and identify ways to prevent similar accidents in the future. Adjust your strategies, upgrade your equipment, or acquire new skills to avoid repeating past mistakes.

Stay motivated: It’s easy to get discouraged after experiencing setbacks, but it’s important to stay motivated and focused on your goals. Remember why you embarked on this space exploration journey and use setbacks as fuel to propel you forward.

Seek support: Surround yourself with supportive Sims who can offer encouragement and advice. Share your experiences with other players or join online communities to gain insights and tips from fellow space explorers.

By being prepared for common issues, handling emergencies effectively, and recovering from setbacks, you can navigate the challenges of Sims 4 space missions with confidence. The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Extraterrestrial Researcher

etfeatured

The truth is out there, Scully…

The Sims 4 has added so many new scenarios to the game recently that we’re still working our way through them all! The scenario we played through this time, Extraterrestrial Researcher, is a permanent scenario that’s here to stay for good, so start it anytime you like!

Here’s how our Extraterrestrial Researcher scenario went!

Getting Started

The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Extraterrestrial Researcher

This is a permanent scenario so there’s no need to rush to start it before a certain date. It will be available in the game forever so start it whenever you like!

The scenario description states that your Sim has a fascination with outer space and truly believes that there is extraterrestrial life out there to be found. They want to be the one to find it and take it back to Earth. You’ll need to build a rocket ship and collect five unique living alien specimens from your space missions. The household requirements are simple; you just need one Young Adult or older Sim.

The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Extraterrestrial Researcher

The Truth is Out There

We knew the perfect place to get Mulder all set up. In StrangerVille. In a seedy roadside motel. To make things harder on ourselves and provide more of a challenge, Mulder would be renting the motel and wouldn’t be able to work while “vacationing” in StrangerVille. How long can he chase his dreams of discovering alien life before his funds run out? We’ll have to see!

We did cheat a tiny bit just to unlock the motel for editing so we could place a rocket ship pad on it. Otherwise, this playthrough was cheat-free.

Currently, the rocket ship is bugged. Sims cannot start building the rocket. The action cancels itself every time, sometimes resulting in the Sim doing a T-pose before resetting themselves. We had to use a mod fix by simvasion to do this scenario. You can download the fix from their website.

First order of business was to get the rocket built. Mulder ended up spending two full days working on the rocket, only stopping when he was smelly and exhausted. He went right back to the rocket as soon as he took care of his motives. Once the rocket was built, it wasn’t quite time to rush into space, yet. The rocket needed at least two specific upgrades just to make it worth our while to traverse space in the first place. Installing landing stabilizers will lower the chances of Mulder coming back to Earth in a crash landing… and potentially dying in a fiery inferno. He needs the extra help there considering his low Rocket Science skill. If he’s going to be bringing back aliens, he’s going to need to expand the cargo bay, too. Otherwise he won’t be bringing back much of anything from his space missions.

The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Extraterrestrial Researcher

I Want to Believe

The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Extraterrestrial Researcher

Speaking of Mulder not having the best luck, one of his missions went terribly wrong and he came back to Earth in a pile of fiery rubble. Thankfully he survived the crash landing but now he had to rebuild his rocket and start over from scratch. Oh well, at least he has Scully to help him out this time. Things go much faster with an extra pair of hands on board and Mulder is back in outer space before long!

The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Extraterrestrial Researcher

Our Thoughts

We had a lot of fun with this scenario, especially since we tied The X-Files into it. It added an extra layer of amusement to the whole thing but the only reason we could play this scenario at all is because we downloaded a mod to fix the rocket ship glitch. Console players who can’t use mods won’t be able to make any progress at all on this scenario until EA fixes that glitch. It does make us wonder why they released this scenario at all knowing it can’t be played right now.

As far as the actual scenario itself goes, we enjoyed it. Space travel and completing the aliens collection is a base game feature a lot of players haven’t really explored in-depth so it’s a good way to get out of your comfort zone and play a different way you might not have immersed yourself in before. Your Sim doesn’t start with any skills or a career so having to figure out how to fund your space missions adds a nice element of challenge to the scenario.

Get to Work: Secret Area

Exploring the alien world of sixam.

Exploring the planet Sixam in The Sims 4

Sixam is explorable by Career Scientists and those Sims proficient in Rocket Science

The World of Sixam is the new 'hidden' area in The Sims 4 Get to Work , where your Sim can meet Aliens and collect rare objects . In case you didn't notice, Sixam is Maxis (The Sims Developer) backward. There are two ways normal Sims can visit this place: via Rocket Science or the Scientist Career . Two new crystals and metals can be found here, the former of which can derive a new Element, with three new forms of Plant life to grow in your Garden . There is a six-piece collection of Geodes you can find, which give Environment boosts, as well as alien plants to be harvested and grown back home.

Rocket Science can get you to Get to Work's hidden area

Rocket Science and the Wormhole Generator Upgrade are the primary means of reaching Sixam

Method 1: Rocket Science The primary method for most Sims to reach Sixam is to reach level 10 Rocket Science and install a Wormhole Generator for $1,000. In all, the project will cost you $7,000 and some time. The extra upgrades aren't needed. Your Rocket will simply have the ability to Travel Through Wormhole to reach Sixam.

Method 2: The Scientist Career Reaching level 10 in the Scientist Career , you can upgrade your Wormhole Generator by attending work and using the Invention Constructor. You can learn all about that career in our guide, but here's what you need to know: initial construction of the Wormhole Generator requires level 6 and a scientific breakthrough along with 2 uncommon metals , crystals , and two of any elements . The upgrade itself is free to use, just requiring you to place the Wormhole Generator on the Invention Constructor and select upgrade. This is the more time consuming route between the two, but Scientist is a great Career and offers loads of money-making potential so is by no means a sink like Rocket Science.

Fang Flowers come from these trees in Get to Work

Fang Flowers can be harvested from these trees

Exploring the World Look for the Geodes, which are like balls on pedestals, along with the small Quill Fruit Plants and Wild Orb Stalks. You can also harvest the glowing blue trees, which will give you Fang Flowers.

Quill Fruit in Sims 4

Quill Fruit can be picked, but look also for plants known as Wild Orb Stalks

The dig spots and crystals are obvious. You will likely encounter Aliens here, who can be befriended.

Cheating to Get an Alien While on Sixam, if you want an Alien, there's an easy way to add one to your own Household. Simply enable testing cheats via Control + Shift + C and then typing, testingcheats on . Shift-clicking an Alien will then allow you to Add to Family.

I haven't found anywhere that is says definitively, but Elder males can get pregnant by abduction, as well as Adults. I was shocked!

Hi! First-You need to make sure the seed/stem you want to plant is taken from Your Sims Inventory by You- "no questions asked- needed. Just line up everything you planned on planting then tell your Sim to Plant them. You may get a few other options...no problem. Once your Sim is finished planting you need to click on the item and the Water option should be the last process you need to do to get the new Plants up and growing. I'd at least have my Sim read the Gardening First Book because it helps. Sorry I am so wordy! -ElderGamer1

Ultimate Sims Guides

The Sims 4: Astronaut Career

The astronaut career is one of the most complicated and possibly even the most interesting that we have been given so far. You get to work on a rocketship in your backyard where you can eventually try for baby if you so choose!

This career is a super fun one in The Sims 4 and this guide is going to teach you everything you need to know to get your sim to the top of the career and start making the big bucks.

Aspirations for the Astronaut Career

Body builder.

The body builder aspiration is a great choice if you want your sim to be in the astronaut career because this career focuses heavily on the fitness skill, as you have to max out the skill in both branches of the career. Plus, as a bonus, your sim can get the long lived trait from this aspiration and stay alive a bit longer.

Nerd brain is also an awesome choice because it has aspects of playing chess, as well as parts of it are focused on building a rocket ship at home. You’ll be able to work on this aspiration and your career simultaneously.

Traits for the Astronaut Career

Since the astronaut career focuses so heavily on the fitness skill, and you have to max out the skill for your sim to get to the top of the career in either branch, the active trait is essentially a no brainer. It will help you gain the skill quicker and have your sim enjoy exercise more.

The geek trait is a really awesome option for an astronaut because it makes it so your sim enjoys doing things like playing chess, and rocket science. It even helps them gain these types of skills. They will also feel focused more often which helps them gain logic.

Loves Outdoors

Loves the outdoors is a really awesome option for a trait if you’re working on the astronaut career because your sim is going to need to spend a ton of time outside building a rocket to gain the rocket science skill, and you want them to be happy while doing it!

Astronaut Career Levels

“Who doesn’t dream of going to space? Become an astronaut and the galaxy will be your playground.”

When going through the astronaut career, you’ll need to be working out frequently since you’ll eventually need to max out your fitness skill. It’s better to work on fitness slowly, since your sim can only work out so many hours per day.

To get the rocket science skill, you need to be building a rocket ship in your yard, so having a super small lot may not be an option. Also, having a rocket ship and upgrading it is going to be pretty expensive, so you may want to have another household member who can make some extra money.

Astronaut Career Unlocks (Before Branch)

Every career in The Sims 4 comes with a series of unlocks that include different create a sim and build mode items. I like to add sections on the build mode items because they’re usually the best!

With the first 7 levels of the astronaut career you get a new desk that looks like mission control from a space station where you can leave a computer, as well as a really cool chair that goes right with it.

You’re also given a solar light, that can look like a really cute mobile in a baby or toddlers room. In addition, you get a couple cute desk or shelf decor items including a set of blueprints and a model rocket that can look great in a home office.

Space Ranger Career Branch

“Space is wild and unruly – a bit too unruly. Taking a post in the Plant Patrol ensures that space remains safe for future generations.”

The space ranger career branch is a good choice if you want to work less, as the work hours are a bit lower than the interstellar smuggler branch of the astronaut career. In this career branch, you’re going to need to max out the Fitness skill, as we discussed earlier, so you should be working out as often as possible to get this done.

To go into the space ranger career, you must have a rocket ship on your lot. This is because your daily work task is to do a space mission, which you can’t do unless you have a rocket ship!

Space Ranger Branch Levels

Space ranger branch unlocks.

The space ranger branch of the astronaut career has a few really awesome unlocks that you get as you progress through the career. The first is opening up a new recipe to the space energy drink at a bar, this drink will make your sim feel energized and this can be extremely helpful if you are working on your fitness skill!

The next two, are just decorative objects. You’ll get a build your own rocket kit , which sounds like it could be fun, right? Well, it’s not. It’s purely decorative but does look pretty cool. You’ll also get a giant statue called astro bunny beyond infinity that could look super cool in a garden!

Finally, you’ll unlock the apollo rocket ship which is my favourite of the 3 rocket ship options and looks like sleekest and most modern. Just another awesome way to go to space!

Interstellar Smuggler Career Branch

“The Sim who wrangles the most of the stars takes advantage of the ungoverned frontier. Take any job – even if it doesn’t touch the ground.”

Just like in the space ranger branch , you’re going to need a rocket ship on your home lot since the daily task is to also do a space mission. So, you should be prepared to spend a lot of time and money to buy and build a rocket ship.

Compared to the other branch, you’ll make more money in the interstellar smuggler career branch but you will need to work more!

Interstellar Smuggler Branch Levels

Interstellar smuggler branch unlocks.

The first of the unlocks in the interstellar smuggler branch is the alien juice drink recipe that can be made at the bar. This drink is a bit more of a mystery and will give your sim some kind of random moodlet, usually positive, after drinking.

The next is a good one, the Zero G Training Bag which is an awesome punching bag for your sims to exercise on. This not only gives your sims fitness skill, it’s also confident decor!

The final one is the Retro Rocketship , which is a super funky and cool looking rocket ship option to have in your sim’s yard. It’s beautiful and red and white!

Final Thoughts

Being in the astronaut career in The Sims 4 can be really fun, since it also gives you the opportunity to visit the planet Sixam with your newly built rocket! How do you feel about the astronaut career? Tell me your feelings in the comments!

If you don’t think the astronaut career is for you, you could check out some of these other career guides I’ve written:

I've been playing the Sims since the first game was released when I was only 5 years old. It's been a huge passion of mine for two decades and I've loved every single minute of it. I also love dogs. And grilled cheese sandwiches. And I think me and Bob Pancakes could be friends.

The Sims 4: How To Complete The Space Rocks, Prints And Alien Collections

Feeling spacey?

Quick Links

How to get space rocks and alien collections, all space rocks and aliens in collection, how to get space prints, all space prints in collection.

Finding new items for your household collection is just one of the many joys you can experience in The Sims 4 . Everything from artifacts to crystals to prints is yours to collect and enjoy. You can decorate your Sim's house with them or sell them for cash.

The Sims 4: Sixam Guide

Some of the most special collections are those you can find with rocketships, where you'll be able to find all sorts of intergalactic goodies. This is where you can find the Space Rocks, Space Prints, and Alien Collections. If your Sim wants to have intergalactic memorabilia in their home, there are no better collections to complete than the Rocket Science ones.

You can find the Space Rocks and Aliens Collections while exploring space on any rocketship. While your Sim is out exploring the galaxies, pop-up events will occur on their voyage, and you'll be able to choose your adventure.

The adventures will lead to your Sim bringing home special memorabilia, namely Space Rocks and Aliens.

How To Explore Space

To explore space, you first have to have your Sim build a rocket ship. There are three available: the Steampunk Flyamajig for 5,000 Simoleons, the Apollo Rocketship for 8,750 Simoleons, and the Retro Rocketship for 10,000 Simoleons.

You can purchase all of them from Buy Mode under Activities and Skills > Knowledge.

Once you've purchased one, click on it and choose to build the rocket ship. This will take some time to complete, at least one Sim day.

Building a rocket ship will increase your Sim's Rocket Science skill , which will allow them to build the rocketship faster. At the max level of ten, your Sim can build the ship with ease.

Once the ship is complete, click on the rocketship and choose Explore Space .

Your Sim will enter the rocket ship and take off into the final frontier. When they return, they will have collected either Space Rocks or Aliens.

There are a total of ten aliens your Sim can find while exploring space and four space rocks they can bring home.

Here are all the aliens that are part of the collection, with their value and rarity:

Hhere are all the space rocks , including their value and rarity:

You will need to take multiple trips into space to get all of the collectibles.

There are various upgrades you can do to your rocketship that allow you to have a better chance at bringing home a wider variety of collectibles. Click on the ship, choose Upgrades , and choose which upgrade you'd like your Sim to install.

You can expand the Cargo Bay to bring home more items, expand the Fuel Storage Tanks to travel further into space, and more.

The more upgraded a rocket ship is, the better success you'll have exploring. A fully upgraded ship lets you bring home more rare collectibles than you would without upgrades.

Space Prints can be earned from the observatory by observing the sky, stargazing, moongazing, and searching for the truth. You will need to purchase the Backyard Observatory for your Sim, or find one on a public lot to use.

The Backyard Observatory can be purchased for 1,500 Simoleons in Buy Mode under Activities and Skills > Knowledge .

To find Space Prints, click on the observatory and choose either Observe The Sky, Stargaze, or Moongaze . Stargazing and moongazing can only be done at night, but observing the sky can be done at any hour.

While your Sim is looking up at the stars, they're able to gain space prints from their time. You'll need to continue performing these activities for a while to get all the prints.

Search For Truth

One of the interactions with the observatory, Search For Truth, is only unlocked at Logic skill level seven. You need this interaction to unlock three of the space prints.

Search For Truth is only available for Sims from 10:00 pm to 04:00 am, and you must be focused as well.

Your Sim's Logic skill will already be building while looking through the observatory, so simply continue to use the other interactions with it until you reach level seven.

Your Sim will gain more Logic skill XP quicker if they are in a focused mood. Enable an item's emotional auras to induce a focused mood for your Sim.

There are a total of 25 space prints you can collect from gazing at the skies. Here are all of them with their rarity, value, and what interaction with the observatory they come from:

Each of these prints can be placed on your Sim's walls or sold for Simoleons.

Similar to rocketships, your Sim can upgrade the observatory for better results. They can Augment the Telescopic Eyepiece or Reinforce Telescopic Pivots. Both of these upgrades will let your Sim find rarer prints.

Travel Across the Map

Sims can travel to any of the residential buildings or public places in the town. What gamers need to do first is open the map of the town by pressing 'M.'Next, they can pick the location of their choice. They can also choose companions if they don't want to travel alone. There are no restrictions on the friendship levels while picking the companions; any Sim can be selected to accompany the players along the way.

There is another way to access the map where gamers can pick their destination on a Sim's smartphone. For this purpose, open the phone, go to the interface, click on the bottom left corner, and choose the " Travel" option on the tab with the car icon.

Fly to a Different World

In addition to traveling within a town, gamers can also travel to other worlds, Residential and Destination. And yes, Residential areas are where Sims live, so it offers a great opportunity to meet other Sims and learn different skills. On the other hand, Destination World is specifically meant to be a tourist spot.

Before taking a vacation to these places, gamers need to take some time off work. After that, they need to select their destination and reserve their accommodation by selecting the "Take a Vacation" option on their smartphone. It is noteworthy that players can take as many as eight Sims with them on vacation after they adjust their accommodations accordingly.

Residential Worlds

Gamers can rent the rental lots available in some of the Residential Worlds. In case there isn't any, players can build a lot themselves and label it as a "Rental Lot."

Destination Worlds

Players can get one Destination World from the Outdoor Retreat , Jungle Adventure, and Journey to Batuu expansion packs in The Sims 4 . After reaching these destinations, players can stay in hotels, participate in different fun activities, and make unforgettable memories. Make sure to click photos and explore as much as possible.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Why Lady Vols softball commit, Westview star McCall Sims practices in a barn

sims 4 space travel

MARTIN – A barn sits on a farm property about a half-mile from Westview High School. Doug Sims owns the property, and he had the barn built about two years ago.

It’s not a barn full of farming equipment. Rather, it’s full of sports equipment. McCall Sims, a Tennessee Lady Vols softball commit and junior at Westview, has wanted the barn since she was a little girl.

“We finally had the time to just be like, 'OK, we’re going to build it,'” McCall Sims said. “It’s great to have a dad like him and for him to fund that for me, just being able to go work on my own whenever I want to. It’s been very helpful and useful.”

Sims is in the barn every day, just about. There’s a batting cage in there, space to work on pitching. She wanted to have a basketball hoop in the barn, but she’ll go up to the school.

The extra work has paid off for her and the Chargers (7-4). After Monday’s 3-0 win over Gibson County at the Martin Recreation Complex , Sims is hitting .600 with 21 hits and six home runs. She hit two home runs, a solo homer in the third inning and a two-run homer in the fifth, on Monday.

Sims helped guide the Chargers to the TSSAA state softball championship last May. She hit a TSSAA record two grand slams in the 13-5 win over Forrest in the title game .

“That’s probably a state record that’ll be held for (a while),” Doug Sims said. “For it to line up where you’ve got the bases loaded twice, that’s just some type of an anomaly.”

Sims’ work ethic is a clear example as to why she’s a leader on the team and going to the Power Five level for college. Westview coach Craig Rogers knows what Sims is all about with her work on the field.

“She’s just picking up where she left off,” Rogers said. “She maybe wasn’t throwing that hard, early on, but it takes some time to get back into shape after basketball.”

What’s it like being McCall Sims' catcher?

Addie Roberts is a senior catcher and infielder for the Chargers. She and Sims are close friends.

Their trips to the nearby Dairy Queen are some of the memories that stick out to Roberts immediately. Roberts always gets the chocolate brownie extreme Blizzard, Sims flips between Oreo and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Blizzards.

Roberts has been catching for Sims and has been a big part of the Chargers’ championships in the past three years on the basketball court and softball field.

Sims' "location and her ability to spot the ball has definitely grown,” Roberts said. “She’s started throwing more pitches.”

Sims doesn’t plan on pitching for the Lady Vols, instead playing the outfield. Sims doesn’t pitch for her travel league team, Sparks Elite Ross, outside of a few innings if needed.

The velocity Sims has found has helped Roberts, a UT-Martin signee, improve in catching that level of pitching and in her throwing game.

MORE How Chester County's Hunter McLemore signing with Freed-Hardeman baseball has impacted his season

“Her velocity has given me the time that I don’t have to stress as much about my release,” Roberts said. “I can just get (the ball) there, they’re gone.”

Having the memories of playing multiple with one of her closest friends is what Roberts looks back on as her Westview career winds down. A second championship wouldn’t hurt, either.

“Not many people you know go and play at the Power Five level,” Roberts said. “Getting to catch someone like that and being really close friends, it’s really a blessing. I’m thankful that we’re close friends and that I have the ability to do it.”
