The TV star says that Australian audience members were passing out at his Bucket List Tour, and now it's coming to the UK

Jackass star Steve-O is bringing his latest live tour to Birmingham, despite audience members 'passing out' when he took the show to Australia. The performer, known for wild stunts, will be at the Alexandra Theatre on his Bucket List Tour on Saturday, July 8.

The Wild Boy will be showing 'more graphic videos' during the show and he has warned Brits to 'attend with caution'. The multimedia show will visit nine venues as part of the UK leg, including Brum.

The show is for adults over 18 strictly, with a warning that they 'contain explicit content'. "Every idea on Steve-O’s Bucket List was so ill-advised, he never expected to go through with any of them," it says on the Alex website.

"Until it was time to prepare for this tour. Not only are the stunts more ridiculous than what you already know Steve-O for, he did them all, and made a highly XXX-rated, multimedia comedy show out of them. Not for kids, or for the faint of heart."

Both as a member of the Jackass cast and since, former circus performer Steve-O, who was born in the UK and went to school in London, has done some extreme things in the name of entertainment.

The former boyfriend of Stacey Solomon has been known to snort wasabi, narrowly avoid being eaten by crocodiles and been covered in the contents of a well-used portable toilet.

He told followers on Instagram that he was surprised to see people passing out at his Bucket List Tour shows in Australia, writing: "I was as shocked as anyone to learn that people were passing out at the Bucket List shows, but the more graphic videos I screen during the show have proved to consistently have that effect."

Tickets to the show go on general sale on Friday, April 28, at 9am on the ATG website . The pre-sale is set to open this Wednesday, April 26.

Steve-O talks life and x-rated stunts ahead of city show

He's been a Jackass on film and television for more than 20 years and lived a life most people can only dream of.

steve o tour birmingham

Steve-O has been a featured star on the Jackass television show, as well as the subsequent feature films, performing a range of crazy and, at times, dangerous stunts, which include pole vaulting into a lake full of sewage, snorting Wasabi and walking a tightrope over alligators.

He has also worked as a clown and circus performer and taken to the stage to perform stand-up comedy, including two comedy specials where he performed stunts such as getting electrocuted with a taser.

All of this has led to his latest tour, The Bucket List Tour, which has played to record-breaking audiences in the USA, Canada and Australia and is now touring the United Kingdom, with a date at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham on July 8.

The show is filled with stories of Steve-O's life that, he admits, could only happen to him, plus a series of filmed stunts that he said even Jackass wouldn't let him do.

He said: "What the Bucket List is is a bunch of Jackass-style ideas that, for various reasons, were never supposed to happen as they were either flagrantly illegal or completed XXX-Rated and were never supposed to happen.

"Whereas my first comedy show was just me and a microphone and what I did on stage, my second comedy special was me, a microphone and what happened on stage, plus video footage edited in, so it was illustrated with footage put in post and I had a really good experience with that.

"This show is all about bringing together a show where I can bring the multimedia component on the road with me, so it was all about filming the crazier-than-ever stunts and going with the forbidden ones.

"To qualify it, about a year ago, I got Jackass director Jeff Tremaine to come over to my house to screen a recording of the show for him and when it was done, he shook his head and said 'this can't go on Netflix' and he applauded me for having outdone myself, but said I had created something that cannot live on any mainstream platform because it is so ridiculously messed up."

steve o tour birmingham

The show itself will follow on from three previous tours of the UK and is like a homecoming for Steve-O, who was born in Wimbledon on June 13, 1974.

He said one thing he took from doing these shows was his development as an artist and how he had established himself as more than just Steve-O from Jackass.

He said: "I'm really grateful for what I've been able to do to establish myself as an artist in my own right and I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve, although I do cringe a bit at parts of my first comedy special.

"However, I have improved a lot since then and I attribute that to the process of preparing that first multimedia special in order to see if it was going to work, taping my performances and watch them to know when to edit bits in, so that forced me to study the performance and really sped up the process."

One thing that has helped Steve-O to focus his mind has been his continuing sobriety, having been dry for nearly 15 years, and he said that everything he had been able to do in his life and career had been due to that, saying that he had managed to improve the art of living.

steve o tour birmingham

He said: "I think people are seeing the real Steve-O these days and I think that getting better at life is good as it takes the edge off getting older, which sucks no matter who you are, but if you can learn from your mistakes and improve, then getting old isn't so bad.

"The fact that people still want to see me is crazy and what you would call a multi-generational thing, as the range of my audience is such that I could be doing a show and there will be kids there with their parents.

"There is definitely a nostalgia for Jackass and it's like all the musical acts from the 1980s who are bigger than ever, like Motley Crue, who are regularly playing to 100,000 people on a regular basis, who I got to meet back in the day when I managed to get myself backstage, and Tommy Lee and I are like little kids."

As he reaches the end of his 40s, Steve-O said he had learned many things, in particular the idea of restraint of pen and tongue, and said the most important thing he had learned was not to worry about his legacy.

He said: "As I grow older, I worry less about my legacy and, back in the day, it used to be all about how videos were going to be forever and that's my immortality, and that was so self important and kind of silly.

"I think now, my priorities are more in trying to he happy while I'm alive and if there is a legacy to be left, then maybe an animal sanctuary would be cooler than the videos."

Steve-O will be bringing The Bucket List Tour to Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre on Saturday, July 8 ahead of the taping of the comedy special in London on July 14, with tickets costing from £32.41.

Steve-O talks ‘Jackass,’ comedy tour, Alabama bit that didn’t air

Steve-O meditates. A lot. He has a streak going of 847 days straight of meditating every single day, twice a day, averaging more than 40 minutes of meditation daily. Since late December 2019, he’s spent almost 580 hours meditating.

“I feel so strongly about the benefits of this practice,” he tells me, “that I’m frankly quite terrified of ever missing a meditation. I’m in pretty unshakeable faith that it brings about some kind of like partnership with the universe. And the way my life has been going since I started this practice really contributes to my faith that it does good things for me. Because life is going pretty well, man. And I’m super stoked about it.”

I was not expecting the dude who once purposely stapled his scrotum to his thigh on television to be thoughtful and centered. But that’s exactly how Steve-O - daredevil from the beloved “Jackass” MTV series and films - is during our phone interview. Checking in from a Memphis hotel room on a recent Friday morning, Steve-O is out on the road doing an adults-only comedy show called “The Bucket List Tour.” More on that in a sec.

For more than 20 years now, he’s been one of the most recognizable entertainers on the planet thanks to the gonzo stuns (trying to shoot one of his nipples shot off with a BB gun, stinging himself multiple times with huge jellyfish) he did for “Jackass,” along with his boundary pushing pals, including ringleader Johnny Knoxville. Born Stephen Gilchrist Glover, Steve-O’s raspy rascally speaking voice is instantly recognizable over the phone. Below are edited excerpts from our conversation.

Steve, what are people going to see at these “Bucket List Tour” shows? Is it stand-up comedy, is it stunts, is it a mix?

It’s a multimedia show. I did do a bunch of stunts for the show. They were filmed over the last few years, and it’s all built into a comedy show. So, the stand-up show represents a journey through the bucket list and after each bit in the show, I screen the footage of the culmination of the bit. And the bits are super high-level stuff. They’re things that I never would have been allowed to do for “Jackass,” because many of them were illegal and some of it’s like properly X-rated. I just had a lot of fun doing stuff that I would never otherwise be allowed to do.

Without giving away too much, what can you tell us about maybe what one or two of those stunts may involve?

Oh dude, I’m not bashful about it. In one of them, I’ve got a medical professional in disguise administering stolen general anesthesia drugs into an IV in my arm while I’m riding a bicycle. Which clearly was illegal. And I loved that one so much, I went and got another medical professional to put a four-inch needle into my spine and inject a drug into my spinal cavity - again stolen drugs – that paralyzed me while I was in a full sprint. And there’s another one where I’m in an airplane totally naked, with another man strapped to my back and furiously masturbating. I actually managed to simultaneously ejaculate as I fell out of the airplane. [Laughs]

Well, timing is everything. For a guy who’s done so much adventurous stuff on “Jackass,” do you get more nervous being in front of a crowd onstage doing a comedy show? Or do you get more nervous before a big stunt like the ones you just described or for “Jackass”?

When I first started doing stand-up, I would say that getting onstage to tell jokes made me more nervous than anything. But I’ve now been doing different variations of this comedy tour for the last 12 years now, so I’ve really found my voice in the in the stand-up and spent 11 years on the comedy club circuit. And it’s really pretty exciting because all the work I’ve done in the comedy clubs developing this craft of storytelling and stand-up has gotten me to a point where for the most part I’m graduated to doing big theaters. And at the same time, all of my worlds have converged. where I get to put everything that I do into one show. So it’s rad.

You have a new book, “A Hard Kick In The Nuts.” What did you want to do different with this book than your 2011 memoir “Professional Idiot”?

To be honest, I really didn’t want to do very much differently at all. I felt pretty strongly that in the 10 years that elapsed since the publication of my first book, that my life had really been, like, super crazy and entertaining, and that I just wanted to make another installment really, and I wanted it to be another memoir. But my literary agent, and I believe my co-writer, well, they said that it really doesn’t work that way. You don’t do memoir, part two. You’ve got to have an angle on it. And I said I said, All right, well, for what it’s worth. The first joke I tell on my “Bucket List Tour” is that I’m in an awful situation, being that I’m Steve-O in my 40s. And it’s a simple thing, and I didn’t really ever intend it to be a joke in the first place but it always got a big laugh.

I find myself really confronting middle-age, in an intense way. While aging sucks for everybody, I think given that my identity, my livelihood has been so based on acting adolescent and being reckless and irreverent, you know, childish, it feels particularly difficult for me to confront middle-age.

And I thought that if my book was sort of a guide to middle age and how to navigate it, that could work. And we started off with that being the approach, and quickly found that really, what it was, was more of a book of the wisdom that I’ve gleaned on my journey towards middle-age.

My demographic, certainly as my analytics reflect on social media, I’ve got a young audience. I’m like Matthew McConaughey, where I get older and they just stay the same age, so I didn’t want to alienate my audience by having too much focus on middle age. I’m middle-aged but my audience isn’t.

But in any case, it’s sort of a book of wisdom and a lot of it’s tongue in cheek that I shouldn’t be writing sort of a self-help book. But in order to kind of scratch the itch that I originally had, I definitely unload the experience that I’ve had over the last 10 years, and just kind of like what it taught me. So I accomplish both goals. It’s got its own little angle in being a book of wisdom, and I was able to pour into it all of the outrageous experience that has transpired since the first book.

You’ve got such a cool, distinctive speaking voice. Have you ever turned down any big voice-acting roles? Or is that something you would be interested if the project was interesting enough?

Yeah, I would love to do voice-acting. And I’ve done a little bit here and there. It’s an interesting thing, the way that it works. The gigs that I have gotten have been I suppose pretty low level. Like I’ve certainly never been paid a substantial amount of money for voice work, and I don’t think that there really any particularly notable ones that I’ve done, but I’ve been in a handful of cartoons and stuff.

Well, you’ve got the voice for it. As someone who made their name (as a stunt performer) pushing boundaries, in stand-up comedy are there any boundaries subject wise that you won’t cross or get into?

I wouldn’t say that there are no boundaries at all. If you look at “Jackass,” and I would like to think the stuff that I’ve done on my own as well, I view it as largely wholesome, which I know sounds it’s counterintuitive to think of “Jackass” as a wholesome franchise. But I really do because there’s nothing hateful or otherwise mean spirited about what we do. We’re a bunch of attention whores, and to get the attention that we crave, we gladly give ourselves and each other a very hard time. But we’re so game for it, that it’s really permissible. And as it relates to third parties, you know, even with pranks and stuff, we’re really just not mean spirited at all.

So I do a stand-up comedy kind of the same way. Like it’s never my intention to be mean to anybody but myself. And I think that that really carries over from all the “Jackass” stuff. I did one Comedy Central roast, and I just didn’t really have a good experience with it. Yeah, like insult humor and trying to hurt other people’s feelings. Like that’s sort of the boundary that I don’t want to cross.

Since this is for an Alabama media outlet and to preview your shows here, I was trying to think back if “Jackass” ever did a stunt or prank in Alabama …

I’ve got one. I’ve got one that I did, which never was allowed on television. But when “Jackass” started, I was living in Florida. And one day I made a call to the “Jackass” director, Jeff Tremaine, and I understood that I was about to receive a check for $10,000 for the second season of “Jackass.” And that was like an insane amount of money to me at that time. You know, $10,000. And I told him as soon as I put the check in the bank, I was loading up my car, and I was gonna drive from Florida all the way to California, and really get out there to try to take advantage of this this thing that was “Jackass.”

And Jeff Tremaine said, “You’re not going to drive anywhere, until you send me a list of ideas to film in every state between Florida and California. And if you’ve got the ideas, then I will send out a production crew to follow you across the country and film all of your ideas.”

My idea for Alabama, was I want to go to a black fraternity house because my understanding of black fraternities is that they tend to give each other brand branding with like hot irons to put their fraternity Greek letters (on their bodies). And my idea was to show up unannounced, banging on the door of a black fraternity house and say, with all appropriate respect, I understand that they do branding. And out of respect for their fraternity, I would not be asking them to brand their Greek letters, but rather I just wanted to see if they would brand the shape of a heart over my heart, as a symbol to show that love hurts. It was just an excuse to get branded.

And they submitted the idea to what’s called standards and practices at MTV. And they got back a response saying that in order to do that, the branding would have to be done by a professional body brander in a professional setting, which a fraternity house would not be.

So they set it up a tattoo parlor where like a body piercer, a tattoo artist, a licensed body modification person agreed to do it. And it was pretty funny lady who did it. She said, “Welcome to L.A., lower Alabama.” Which I thought was fun. And to this day I’ve got this great heart branding over my heart. And the thing was that even though we got permission to shoot the bit, when they presented the actual footage of the bit to standards and practices, the response they got was, “Hey, we said you could get Steve-O branded, but we never said anything about airing footage of sizzling smoking flesh.” [Laughs] So they let us shoot they wouldn’t play it.

You mentioned “Jackass” director Jeff Tremaine and he also directed the Motley Crue band biopic “The Dirt.” And I’ve seen pictures of you as a young fan meeting (Crue drummer) Tommy Lee. What’s your most vivid memory from meeting Tommy Lee, back when you were just a little kid?

There wasn’t too much interaction that took place. I got my picture with Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx. I told them I was a big fan. It was really quite a quick meeting. Outside of the actual photo and just the experience in general, I don’t have too much of a story about actually meeting them.

But later in life. I did become buddies with mostly with Tommy Lee. I got myself in some trouble in Louisiana, in 2002. And I caught some felony charges and was facing a fair amount of time in prison. And then I was under strict instructions to not do drugs in case I were to be drug tested, to not go to strip clubs and basically don’t leave the house.

And while I was cooped up in the house, I left a message on Tommy Lee’s website to say, “Hey man,” and he wrote me right back. And I’ve been buddies with Tommy Lee ever since. And if I have a favorite thing about Tommy Lee, it’s that when I talked to him about how I called all the hotels in the Yellow Pages to track down Motley Crue in 1987. And I guessed that Tommy Lee would not check into a hotel under the name Tommy Lee. And that’s why when I called the hotels, I asked for a room under the name of Motley Crue’s manager at the time Doc McGhee. And that worked for me. But when I became buddies with Tommy Lee, he told me that he used to check into hotels under an alias. He said his name was Dixie. Last name Normous. [Laughs]

Before I let you get back to your day, Steve do you recall the very first time that you discovered you had a unique capacity for pain tolerance or management?

I don’t have any unique tolerance for pain. I’m just simply an attention whore. I have such an overdeveloped need for attention that I actually crave attention more than I crave comfort.

Do you remember the first time you acted on that?

There was a time when one of my last baby teeth came out and I knew that if you ripped the tooth out prematurely that there’s a lot of blood. And I was only 10-years-old in fifth grade. I walked into my class, and sat down next to the prettiest girl in the class, which I otherwise wouldn’t have done, and I told the prettiest girl in the class, “I don’t have to be here today. I can leave whenever I want.” And she looked at me like I was a weird creep. And when the class began, I violently ripped out the tooth, causing it to bleed a lot. And with blood pouring out of my mouth, I raised my hand to the teacher and let her see the bloodletting and said, “I need to go to the nurse.” The teacher, seeing the blood, said, “Go, go!” And I got up to leave the classroom. And as I stood up, I said to that girl, “I told you so.”

A Jackass movie and stand-up tour rolled into one

Stephen Glover (Steve-O)

Why See Steve O?

Comedy & Stand-up

The bucket list tour

Legendary Jackass star, actor and comedian Steve-O is hitting the road and he's bringing his bucket list with him. The last decade has seen him grow as a stand-up comedian and now he's on his way to bringing laughter to your doorstep. Get ready for a night of comedy and a screening of stunts that were too crazy to do on Jackass!

After years of us all watching him do stunts that make us squirm, Steve-O has put down the crash test helmet and instead picked up a microphone, but he hasn't had the easiest of paths to get to where he is now. With 12 years of sobriety now firmly under his belt, Steve-O has a brand new outlook on life whilst still keeping his XXX-rated humor and wildly explicit stunts in his catalog.

American stunt performer and TV star Steve-O has announced a run of 2023 UK tour dates as part of his Bucket List trek. Tickets go on sale at 9am today.

The Jackass favourite will take the multimedia comedy show to Glasgow's O2 Academy on Friday 30 June before heading to Manchester's Academy the following day. He'll also perform at the Regent Theatre in Stoke and Hull's City Hall on Sunday 2 and Monday 3 July.

The Bucket List Tour will also visit York's Barbican Theatre on Friday 7 July, the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham the following day and G Live in Guildford on Monday 10 July. The trek will wrap up with shows in Southend and London on Tuesday 11 and Friday 14 July.

The shows will include some of the wackiest stunts ever seen from Steve-O, and he recently warned fans of the tour's graphic content and urged audience members to 'stay in their seats' as fans on the Australian leg have passed out.

  23. Went to Steve O's Bucket List Tour here's a review and shit

Watched the show in Kingston, ON and it sounds like I had the exact same experience as you. First 10 minutes of the show was him being aggravated that a couple people yelled out "love you Steve-o" or something along those lines, not even heckling in my opinion just the typical shit that fans yell out during a live show, stuff that any other "comedian" would be able to handle with grace.
