TaylorMade FlexTech Lite Stand Bag Review

A well designed premium quality stand bag that offers a lot of features and storage and is comfortable to carry. It is lighter than the standard FlexTech model but there are even lighter bags on the market if overall weight is your most critical criteria.

Very comfortable

Good strap system

Sturdy construction

Excellent storage space

Quality materials and design

Not significantly lighter than the standard FlexTech model

Not fully waterproof

Mike Harris

TaylorMade has an extensive range of golf bags and the manufacturer has excelled in this category for a number of years, producing high quality models with something to suit all tastes and a wide variety of budgets. The brand's offerings feature in many of our various best golf bag guides.

FlexTech is perhaps the most established sub range and includes a number of stand bag models, including a fully waterproof bag for total peace of mind and the Crossover , which features a 14 way divider. Personally, I find these a bit fussy and favour a four or five way top.

I’ve been using the standard FlexTech stand bag for over six months, but if I'm being critical, I have found it a touch heavy, so I sought out the Lite version to see if that offered a significant weight saving.

After over 10 rounds of using the bag (mainly carrying but also on a trolley on a couple of occasions) there are plenty of positives to mention. First and perhaps most importantly, this bag is very comfortable to carry. The straps are well padded, the self adjusting system means the bag easily sits in the right position and very rarely twists (for me the most annoying thing about carry bags) while a nice big, thick, pad ensures that it sits comfortably against your hips and back.

The FlexTech stand system is very effective, too, and makes the bag and legs super sturdy. On those occasions when I have used it on a trolley it sits in its place well and the legs don’t kick out as they can on some carry bags.

Storage wise there are lots of pockets (eight in total) offering ample space for your gear. There is a really big ball pocket, one for tees, markers and pencils, a side pocket that I use for gloves, a water bottle holder, a full length pocket for apparel and two smaller lined valuables pockets. For me, it's maybe two more than it needs. However, for those who like to pack for all eventualities, the FlexTech Lite offers lots of space. Frankly, if you find yourself needing more room then you need to be using a cart or tour bag! There’s also an umbrella holder and a sturdy grab handle too (with a velcro tab for your glove) making it easy to lift in and out of your car boot.

TaylorMade FlexTech Stand Bag Review

So far the bag has coped with some changeable weather. I used it for several rounds in Scotland and had to contend with periods of light to medium rain, and it kept out the wet, although it’s worth stressing that it’s not fully waterproof. So, if you’re a golfer who plays all-year round in every type of weather, you might be better off opting for the fully waterproof bag with seam sealed zips. Predictably, that option is more expensive, but you may feel it's worth it.

Design wise this is a good looking bag and available in a number of colourways. I’ve been using the black and camo version, which I think offers just the right amount of style without being too ostentatious.

Despite the many positives, the one detail that nags me is that this bag just doesn’t feel significantly lighter than the standard FlexTech. Maybe I’m being too demanding but I like a golf bag that is billed as being light to be really light. On this criteria, I didn't feel like it offered enough of a USP to make it a standout offering in what is a very competitive market.

The 10 best taylormade golf bags 2024 reviews, 1. flextech crossover stand bag   – overall best taylormade golf bag.

TaylorMade 2022 Flextech Crossover Stand Bag, Gray/Blue

  • 14-way top to keep clubs separated
  • 10 pockets provide ample storage space
  • Cart strap pass keeps the bag secure in transit
  • Adjustable dual strap system
  • Cooler pocket keeps beverages cold
  • Expensive for a stand golf bag
  • The color options are less attractive than the previous iteration

The overall best golf bag TaylorMade has to offer in 2024 is the Flextech Crossover, owing to its versatility, waterproofing, and structured top. Its hybrid design structures it like a golf cart bag, but I feel the comfortable adjustable strap and stand make it suitable for a walking golfer.

The unique feature of the Crossover is the 14-way structured top, which I am not used to on a stand bag.  Its 14-way top design helped me separate every club in my bag, and I had no issues extracting a jumbo-size putter grip.

Next, I noticed the cart strap pass-through channel, which allowed me to fit onto a golf cart and enjoy access to the back and side pockets. Speaking of pockets, the Crossover is gifted with 10 of them to offer ample storage space for everything I needed for a round.

The one caveat with the superb compartment space is the weight of the bag, which is heavier than your average stand construction. However, TaylorMade made up for the extra mass by employing an adjustable, comfortable, dual-padded strap construction for optimal carry.

Finally, besides the premium price tag, my biggest gripe is that the color combinations are less desirable than the 2022 edition. However, the gunmetal finish still works for me.

Rating: 4.6

2. tour cart bag  – best taylormade golf cart bag.

Tour cart bag

  • 12 pockets to store everything you need
  • Durable construction
  • Large apparel pockets
  • Carbon channel to pass the cart strap through
  • Super pricey
  • No alternative colors

Golf cart owners require a bag that fits securely on their vehicle and provides advanced storage space to keep all their gear. The Tour Cart bag  delivered precisely what I was looking for in this department and further impressed me with its durable construction.

I relished the presence of 12 pockets on the Tour Golf Cart Bag , which let me carry more than everything I needed. The apparel pockets were spacious, leaving ample room for my rain gear and additional apparel.

TaylorMade engineers opted for a 6-way padded top. I used the setup to separate my woods, long, mid, and short irons, wedge, and putter. I had little trouble with clubs clunking into each other and tangling, providing an overall pleasant experience.

I also applaud TaylorMade for the durability of the Tour Cart Bag stemming from its hard shell construction. The biggest pitfalls of the bag arise from its extraordinary price tag and the lack of alternative colors. However, I liked the red, black, and white color combinations since they were my high school colors.

Rating: 4.3

Read more: the best golf cart bags, 3. flextech lite stand bag  – best taylormade stand bag.

Flextech lite

  • Lightweight design
  • Comfortable dual strap design
  • Features 8 pockets
  • Leg lock technology keeps the stand in place
  • Expensive for a lightweight stand bag
  • The stand did not always activate when I placed the bag down.

Golfers like myself who prefer walking the golf course require a lightweight stand bag with comfortable dual straps and enough storage space for the basics. The Flextech Lite Stand bag ticks all these boxes and earns my vote as the top TaylorMade Stand Bag.

When I picked up the Lite Stand Bag for the first time, I was amazed at how light it was.  It was not the lightest golf bag I have carried, but good enough. It tipped the scales at 3.9 lbs before I loaded my clubs into it. Even after it was packed with my regulation 14 sticks, it was still light enough to carry over 18 holes without hurting my shoulders.

Speaking of shoulder support, the removable fixed strap system helped me achieve optimal fit and balance. This distributed the weight evenly for a comfortable carry, preventing the bag from toppling over and my clubs from falling out.

Next, I appreciated the effort of including 8 pockets on the bag to carry my accessories, rain gear, valuables, and refreshments. However, I feel TaylorMade could have added fewer pockets and made the existing ones deeper because some compartments were compact.

Lastly, the Flextech Lite Stand bag sports an entry-level 4-way top to separate your long, middle, and short clubs.

Rating: 4.1

4. flextech waterproof  – best taylormade golf bag for wet weather.

Taylormade Flextech Waterproof, Royal Blue/Silver, one Size

  • Waterproof material
  • Includes 6 pockets
  • Comfortable, self-adjusting strap
  • Stable, anti-split stand
  • The lack of dividers caused my clubs to entangle
  • Not the lightest stand bag, but still manageable

If you are prone to get caught in the rain during your round, you need the support of a waterproof golf bag, like the Flextech design. The Flextech Waterproof bag is the top rain-resistant design from Callaway for its lightweight material, comfortable straps, and sufficient storage space.

TaylorMade engineers crafted this Flextech model with lightweight, waterproof fabric that scores 2500 mm on the PSI test. Therefore, the material can handle 98 inches of rain at any given time before it caves in and becomes soaked.

Waterproofing aside, I felt the bag contained sufficient storage space to carry my accessories, valuables, and apparel. 5 of the 6 pockets sported a welded seam to keep water out, and the last pocket was an open compartment where I stored my water bottle.

Next, I welcomed the Self Adjusting Strap and Strap Slider System built to promote a comfortable, stable carry. The Self Adjusting Strap helped me achieve the ideal fit, while the Slider System prevented the bag from toppling over and my clubs from falling out.

Although the 5-way top helped me divide my long, medium, and short clubs, they did entangle at times owing to the 2 full-length dividers. Finally, the Flextech stand produced a stable performance and kept the bag upright on slopes and flat ground.

Rating: 4.0

5. cart lite bag  – best taylormade golf bag for push carts.

TaylorMade 2022 Cart Lite Bag, Black, Large

  • Optimized for push carts
  • The cart strap pass secures the bag and leaves you access to the pockets
  • Light for a cart bag.
  • Limited full-length dividers cause clubs to entangle
  • Challenging to keep clubs balanced while carrying

Golfers who enjoy pushing their bag around the golf course require a lightweight construction optimized for a push cart base. The TaylorMade Cart Lite is our top featherweight cart case for its storage space, structured top, and secure fit. Plus, it gives you access to 11 trendy colors and patterns to spruce up your on-course appearance.

I found the 5 lbs Cart Lite bag was feathery enough to carry without wearing down my shoulders over 18 holes. Conversely, TaylorMade engineers optimized the base and top of the bag, ensuring it fits seamlessly onto your vehicle. In addition, I felt the cart strap pass-through worked effectively to secure my bag and leave me access to the pockets when attached to the buggy.

Mass aside, I relished the inclusion of 11 pockets, which left me with ample compartments to store my accessories, apparel, refreshments, and valuables. Plus, a Deep Well Cooler Pocket left sufficient room to hold my beverages and keep them cold while I traversed the fairways.

I appreciated the 14-way top structure as it gave each club its private slot and simplified my task of organizing my sticks. However, the bag does not have 14 full-length dividers, which led to some clubs tangling. The lack of full-length dividers also meant I occasionally struggled to dislodge my oversized putter grip from the slot.

Rating: 3.9

6. flextech lite women’s stand  – best ladies taylormade stand golf bags.

Flextech lite women

  • Light and easy to carry
  • Dual comfortable straps
  • Features 7 pockets
  • Fits securely onto a push cart
  • Leg Lock technology keeps the stand secure
  • Only available in 2 colors
  • The 4 way top causes clubs to entangle

Ladies who prefer walking the golf course are best equipped to carry a lightweight stand bag with ample storage space and comfortable straps. The FlexTech Lite ticked all the boxes, thanks to its cushioned carry, adequate pockets, and durable stand.

The FlexTech Lite tips the scales at 3.9 lbs placing it among the ranks of the lightest golf stand bags around. In my experience, the featherweight design was a pleasure to carry, and it did not weigh down my shoulders after 18 holes.

Weight aside, I felt its 7-pocket setup left me sufficient space to store my necessities like balls, tees, valuables, and refreshments. I was further impressed with the waterproof valuables pocket, which kept my watch, keys, and wallet dry during my round.

Next, I welcomed the dual padded strap design on the FlexTech Lite, which was easygoing on my shoulders, neck, and back. I also appreciated their adjustable nature, enabling me to remove them from the equation when placing the bag on a push cart.

Lastly, TaylorMade input a 4-way top structure in the bag, meeting the minimum requirements for a stand bag. However, this setup does cause clubs to clash and entangle, increasing the challenge of removing and adding the sticks from my bag.

7. Professional Championship Staff Bag  – Best Tour TaylorMade Leather Golf Bag

Championship staff

  • Exceptional storage space
  • 3-point shoulder strap system
  • Attractive blue and white finish
  • Robust materials
  • Incredibly expensive
  • Heavy golf bag to carry

Discerning golfers who value finer quality equipment will appreciate the spacious and luxurious TaylorMade Professional Championship bag . The staff golf bag pays homage to Oak Hill Country Club, the venue of the 2024 PGA Championship, won by Brooks Koepka.

The Professional Championship bag earns my support for its exceptional durability and storage space. However, you best hire a caddie to lug it around, as its 11.2 lbs design is bulky and can weigh your shoulders down after 18 holes.

TaylorMade fitted 12 pockets to the bag, providing storage compartments for everything from balls and tees to apparel, rangefinders, and technology. In addition, I appreciated the depth of the apparel pockets as it allowed me to store a healthy selection of rain and winter gear.

I felt the 6-way top provided a suitable structure to keep my woods, long, mid, and short irons, wedges, and putter separated. Adding to its impressive construction is a premium leather finish and a comfortable 3-point shoulder strap, which did render it easier to carry.

Performance aside, I was drawn to the color combination of the bag, which represents the blue hues of Lake Ontario and Erie Canal, which flow freely into nearby Niagara Falls.

Rating: 3.6

Read more: the best staff golf bags, 8. kalea cart lite  – best taylormade ladies cart bag.

Cart lite kalea

  • Optimal for use on push and driven carts
  • 8 pockets to store your essentials
  • Constructed with durable 600d polyester
  • A lack of full-length dividers causes the clubs to entangle
  • Limited alternative colors and patterns

Ladies accustomed to pushing or driving a cart are best suited to a spacious, light, and durable golf cart bag like the Kalea Cart Lite . The specialist ladies bag earns the top spot on our list for its storage space, durable material, and secure fit on a vehicle.

TaylorMade built the 5.5 lbs bag to ride safely on a push or standard golf cart, thanks to its pushcart enabled base and cart strap pass-through. The bag remained fastened to the base of the cart as I navigated the golf course and gave me unobstructed access to the pockets.

Speaking of pockets, I counted 8 compartments on the Kalea Cart Lite, which left sufficient room to store everything required on the golf course. I carried my refreshments, rain gear, and rangefinder on top of the usual accessories and valuables.

The engineers fitted the Kalea Cart Lite with the popular 14-way top, which is exceptional for keeping your clubs organized. However, the bag is short on full-length dividers, causing my clubs to entangle, leaving it challenging to slide them in or out.

Finally, I felt the 600d polyester material improved the durability of the golf bag, and it should hold firm going forward. My biggest gripe with this bag is the lack of alternative colors, but if you can look past that, you are treated to a light, secure, and spacious golf cart bag.

Rating: 3.5

9. vessel lite lux stand bag  – best premium taylormade golf bag.

Vessel lite lux

  • Comfortable adjustable strap
  • Robust stand
  • Priced at a premium for a stand bag
  • Fewer pockets than I would like to see
  • The 4 way top caused my clubs to clash

Golfers demanding premium quality products may take a shine to the Vessel Lite Lux stand bag , built to last, impress and perform. I would have liked more pockets for the price, but the quality of the zippers, material, straps, and stand made up for it.

TaylorMade only applied 5 pockets to the bag, but the apparel compartment was deep and held all my raingear. I also thought the cooler-lined water bottle pocket effectively kept my drink chilled for at least 9 holes.

Regarding drinks, casual golfers will appreciate the dual towel ring and bottle opener feature to crack open the cold ones for your buddies. Next, I relished the balance and comfort provided by the Equilibrium 2.0 Convertible Strap. It allowed me to adjust it to my preference, reducing the risk of straining my shoulders.

The 4-way top was relatively basic, besides the velour-lined compartments. I set my woods up in the back, long and mid irons in the middle, and short irons, wedges, and putter in the front. My clubs did collide while carrying, and at times the clubs in the same compartment got stuck.

Lastly, I saw value in the durability and longevity of the Vessel Lite Lux. However, it does lack certain structural features I prefer on a high-end bag.

Rating: 3.2

Read more: the best stand bags, what to consider when purchasing taylormade golf bags.

taylormade stand bag

TaylorMade manufactures a healthy variety of bags to suit everyone from par 3 golfers to walkers, cart drivers, and professionals. The first factor to consider when purchasing a TaylorMade bag is how you will use it. Is it for trips to the driving range? Will you carry it yourself? Or do you intend to secure it to your golf cart to haul around the links?

If you are searching for a minimalist bag that can carry a few clubs to the driving range or par 3 courses, think about a carry or Sunday bag. However, when you prefer walking 18 holes, a stand bag like the FlexTech Lite  is ideal.

Carry and stand bags are typically the lightest options from TaylorMade as they offer less storage space and fewer top compartments than cart bags. If you push or drive a cart, you require a bag like the Cart Lite Bag , tweaked to fit securely on the base of your trolley.

TaylorMade’s final type of golf bag is a staff or Tour bag. A prime example is the Professional Championship Staff Bag , which features premium material and optimal storage space. However, these bags are super heavy and best handled by a caddie.

Storage space is a deciding factor for many golfers when seeking a new case, as carrying everything you need on the golf course is imperative. However, with more pockets comes more equipment and accessories, increasing the total mass of the bag and prompting an uncomfortable carry.

If storage space is the primary objective, the best bet is a golf cart bag. For example, the Tour Cart Bag  features 12 pockets. I carried a rangefinder, raingear, balls, tees, and refreshments, and I still had space.

However, golfers operating without a cart are advised to stick to stand bags, despite the reduced pocket space. I suggest this because stand bags typically have dual straps and are lighter than cart bags.

TaylorMade golf bags are constructed with 3, 4, 5, 6, and 14-way tops, designed to separate your clubs and simplify inserting and extracting them. 3-way tops are found on carry bags, lightweight builds, which I find best suited for use on short courses or for players using less than the full complement of clubs.

Next, 4 and 5-way slots are regular on lightweight stand bags that help you divide long, mid, and short clubs. They are followed by 6-way slots that TaylorMade typically reserves for staff bags used by tour pros.

Finally, you will discover 14-way top structures on TaylorMade golf cart bags, leaving a separate compartment for each golf club.

Not all TaylorMade bags are waterproof, and if you operate out of a high rainfall zone, it is a necessity. TaylorMade golf bags like the FlexTech Waterproof  are composed of waterproof fabric with a PSI rating of 2500 mm.

Although all bags come with a matching rain hood, it will stop water from penetrating the sides of the case, causing your grips to become soaked.

TaylorMade golf bags are priced at the higher end of the market and are not ideal for players on a shoestring budget. If you are a loyal TaylorMade fan, I recommend saving up and keeping an eye on sales, where you may find a bargain. Alternatively, you can seek out alternative value golf bags for the money  from other brands.

No, not all TaylorMade golf bags are waterproof. The only TaylorMade golf bag that can withstand the rain is the FlexTech Waterproof Stand Bag. It is constructed with lightweight, waterproof fabric that scores 2500 mm meaning it can take up to 98 inches of water in one go before succumbing to the pressure.

You arrange a TaylorMade golf bag by placing your woods at the back and long and mid irons in the middle. Next, I position my short irons, wedges, and putter in the front. However, this setup may vary depending on the number of slots and whether the bag includes a dedicated putter well.

Our TaylorMade golf bags review highlighted the premium price of the equipment giant’s gear. Whether you desire an entry-level carry bag or a high-end tour design, you can expect to pay above what most of their competitors charge.

However, I feel the enhanced price tag is warranted, given the quality, storage space, and comfort TaylorMade golf bags provide. I am confident that the FlexTech Crossover Stand Bag  is the top offering from the brand this year after trialing the best that TaylorMade has to offer.

I appreciate the organization promoted by 14-way Top, its impressive pocket space, and its versatile performance. Although heavy, it was comfortable to carry, and a dedicated cart strap pass-through channel made it easy to secure the bag to a cart and still enjoy access to the pockets.

Taylor Made Flex Tech Lite Stand Bag Review

Taylormade Flex Tech Stand Bag

So I won’t lie, I’m one of those old school guys who loves carrying my bag and walking the course rather than taking a golf cart out and going into some fancy bag for a club. However, recently back problems and age have started to set in and carrying my bag has gotten harder and harder, not to mention my bag has gotten older and older. Holes started appearing on the bag, things became outdated and the bag was wearing thin. And with my back problems, I wanted something to make golf easier. As a result, I took a chance on the Taylor Made Flex Tech Lite Stand Bag . Talk about a difference between night and day from what I currently experience. It just goes to show you how

Check Best Price Amazon

The first thing that hit me was its weight. It barely feels like I’m carrying a bag. It’s only 4.3 pounds and takes a lot of pressure off my back compared to what I previously owned. Even if I add more clubs to my bag, you wouldn’t know it because the weight still feels light.

The Comfort & Feature

Another thing I love is the comfort when you carry it. I used to come home from golfing with blisters on my shoulder from the strap, and like I mentioned, tremendous back pain. The Taylor Made Flex Tech Lite Stand Bag has extra padding in the center of the shoulder strap that actually makes carrying a bag comfortable. It is also very easy to adjust to what you need it to be for carrying and the straps are cushioned. It is available in both single strap and double strap.

The bag also has some amazing features that didn’t come with my other old school bag. For one, it has an insulated water compartment. That compartment is kind of needed when you live in Florida like I do, and anyone who plays golf in the summer plays in the heat. It makes grabbing it and drinking while you walk very easy.

Another beneficial feature I like is the stand. It’s very easy to unfold, set it up, fold it back up and put away. It has a patented smooth release and collapsible base system. The stand is also very sturdy. No matter how many clubs you carry with you in your bag, it holds it extremely well.

Speaking of clubs, when it comes to storing them, the bag has full length dividers that keep things from getting too cluttered, and I carry 15 or so clubs with me when I play. It’s also easy to locate clubs as long as you organize them properly before you go out.

As far as pockets go, this Flex Tech bag has 8 of them, meaning you can pack a lot of extras with you when you go play. It has a separate bag for tees, shoes, maps, course cards, water and other valuables. It keeps you prepared for anything you may experience on the course.

Improvements

However, not all is perfect with the bag. There are some improvements that can be made to make it even better for when they unveil their next upgrade. I would have liked to have seen another handle. The top carry handle is convenient and makes it easy to maneuver, but I would like prefer another one or two handles in different areas.

Another con is that while some people enjoy the full length dividers, there are golfers out there who prefer more holes for the clubs. Like I said, while the dividers are wide, it can clutter for some, especially if you have a lot of clubs . So if you’re one of those golfers out there who want a hole for each club, it may not be suited for you.

It’s also not cheap. You’re going to get a great bag but with a steep price. Keep that in mind as you are shopping around. Many golfers like to spend $100-$150 on a good bag. This one is close to $200 at most outlets.

All that being said, despite some nit-picking here and there, if you walk like me, you want to have a bag that gives you the most comfortable experience possible while playing. Not to mention you want to come home and not have back pain, blisters or shoulder fatigue. The TMFlex Tech Lite Stand Bag passes the test in these areas. It makes playing the game more comfortable and convenient.

So if you walk the course and are looking for a new bag to make the experience more enjoyable, there are not many bags better than this one. Make walking the golf course fun again.

  • Padded straps makes it comfortable to carry
  • Insulated water compartment
  • Stand strap design
  • Eight pockets for storage
  • Easy to set up and close stand
  • Very lightweight. Only 4.3 lbs
  • Full length dividers on top
  • A bit pricey
  • Very few holes on top for clubs if you want to be organized
  • Only one handle available to grab bag

My dad put a putter in my hands at 2 years old, and taught me everything I know. But when I saw Annika Sorenstam on TV for the first time, jumping into Poppy’s Pond, that was it. I wanted to be the next Annika.

I've owned and reviewed countless carry bags over the years and after all this time, gun pointed at my head, my go-to bag of choice has been the Ping Hoofer Lite (HL).  I carry 80% of my rounds and this bag has just enough features while being packaged in a streamlined and classic style made with durable materials.

Having said that though, I haven't been the biggest fan of the latest colorways and aesthetic choices Ping has made with the HL, including the upcoming new 2023 designs.  Some of the colorways are way too busy and complicated and on some of the more simple colorways, Ping thought it was a great idea to use WHITE zippers which don't take long to look like garbage.  Having owned a HL with white zippers, I'll never make that mistake again.

Switching gears, several years ago TaylorMade (TM) introduced their Flextech line and in one of their marketing videos, TM reps specifically mentioned the Ping Hoofer as the leader in this segment.  By doing so, they set a specific target in which to be compared.  TM introduced the standard Flextech (Hoofer equivalent), Flextech Crossover (Hoofer 14), Flextech Lite (Hoofer Lite).  I've actually owned one of the early versions of the Flextech Lite and I had my issues with it, namely durability and DLS (droopy leg syndrome).  That bag ended up being returned for something else.

Fast forward to a few months ago when I was looking at new Hoofer Lites and honestly could not find a colorway I'd be happy with.  With some store credit burning a hole in my pocket, I was pointed by a store rep to the new 2023 Flextech line.  When I brought up DLS, they said they added a new feature to specifically address that called "Leg Lock Technology."  This is just a fancy way to say that the bag now has magnets to help hold the legs in place.  I may have rolled my eyes when I saw this.

1765838739_2023-04-1910_07_04-FlextechLiteStandBag_TaylorMade.jpg.e08a39c711e07bfbfeeca4b4a45dd68e.jpg

In addition to the three initial Flextech models I listed above, TM released two brand new models - Flextech Carry and Flextech Carry Premium.  Two bags that I was curious about but still shifted my focus to the Lite lineup.

The first thing that stood out in the Flextech Lite line was the simplicity of the colorways.  Unlike Ping, you want solid black?  You got solid black (with BLACK zippers).  You want solid navy?  You got solid navy.  What a concept!  The one colorway that jumped off the page though is simply called "green."  A good looking bag is important to me and since I have a pretty busy looking set of headcovers, a busy looking bag makes the combination a little too much.  TM's Green is still somewhat of a bold color choice without it being super busy so I went ahead and ordered it.

So TM supposedly addressed DLS but what about durability?  Regarding TM's other products, TM does have excellent customer service and if there's an issue within a year, I felt confident knowing I could get an exchange, credit, etc.  The old Flextech Lite I owned started to fray in a couple areas very early on so I figured I'd wait at least a few months to review this new 2023 model so I could comment on that.

Upon receiving, this bag looks GREAT .  I was somewhat concerned that the color wouldn't match the website but it absolutely does.  I love the minimal branding, simple profile, and BLACK zippers (aside from the one white valuables pocket zipper).

IMG_3572.jpg.670950bbd3b370c93b3ca1cfd9c92da8.jpg

I do wish manufacturers DID NOT feel the need to label and identify every pocket or feature on the bag.  While TM did an overall good job with keeping the bag minimal, for example not putting a hand icon on the velcro glove patch, they still felt the need to label the cart strap pass and the water bottle pocket.  Why is this so hard to NOT do?!  I know I'm nitpicking but come on...

This is good...

image.png.e8421a93c86da5e190d1bbe7e8c7b229.png

...and these are bad.

image.png.63fdc052b443beadcdaf80b56e789b82.png

First thing I wanted to test was their new magnet leg system and it works as advertised.  When you carry the bag, you can kind of feel the legs "snap" into place and they're not going anywhere however when you want to stand the bag up, the legs pop out easily.  The Leg Lock Technology name is gimmicky but it is effective!    Manufacturers need to use black fabric for where the stand legs rest.  I carry my bag often in dewy early mornings so this area has already started to look a grimy, even after only a few months.

image.png.f69f9bd233f06c11d2c034cf9d9e1a6a.png

The bag is very lightweight, weighing in at just over 4lbs and the balance is great.  Love the color coordinated straps which are very padded and comfortable.  I have no use for this feature but the straps do come off if you're an avid push cart user.

IMG_3576.jpg.6271ccf197c855a931c2719aa6078c27.jpg

As for overall pocket layout, it has the right amount for my needs (like a Hoofer Lite):  full size apparel pocket, ball pocket with removable panel, tee/rangefinder pocket, valuables pocket, side pocket (not sure what this pocket is called), water bottle holder, pen/market pocket, and a small elastic wallet sized pocket inside the apparel pocket.  I really like how Ping stores the rain hood into the hidden pocket in the hip pad and wish others did this as well but since I carry only the essentials, I have no use for the side pocket so my rain hood and rain gloves go there.

Going back to durability, I've owned the bag now for over a few months and haven't found any quality issues.  I no longer have the original Flextech Lite to compare the two side by side, but this bag does seem to have been built better.  It's hard to quantify but it does.  Just feels sturdier than I remember.

Again, I've had the bag now for over a few months and I'm happy to report that this is my gamer bag for the foreseeable future.  It has only the features I need and packaged in a streamlined profile with clean and simple aesthetics.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer.  Hope this review helps my other carrying buddies.  🙂

Any club tangle to report?

7 minutes ago, tjhanch said: Any club tangle to report?

Good question. Since I'm comparing this to a Hoofer Lite, I can say that this is better but I do feel the HL's tangle is blown way out of proportion. If it was truly that bad, it wouldn't be the standard for most college teams and just an overall leader in this product category.

Very thorough. Thanks! I’ll have to give these a look. My Callaway bag is pushing 10 years old and has some rips, so it’ll be time soon.

This is a previous model HL next to my current TM FTL. Profile and design are eerily similar.

Does the bag balance properly on your back when carrying?  Anytime I’ve ever seen someone carrying a FT it looks crooked

It absolutely does. Extremely comfortable carry. Straps are awesome.

I have just got myself the black one looks fantastic with my new P770 irons but one thing I’m finding is the annoyance of the clubs sliding upwards out of the bag when you go to stand it down. Are you finding this as well? Any tips to stop it although unlikely…

I just got one of these bags.  Not sure what all of the pockets are intended for.  You mentioned ball pocket with removable panel.  Which one are you referring to?  The pocket on the front of the bag with the mesh things inside?  BTW, what is the point of the mesh things?  Thanks

Never. How are you arranging your clubs?

Yes. Mesh barriers are so balls don't fall out.

Nice review, bag looks great.  I wish some of these OEMs would offer more 5 way styles like Jones and Nike.

Is this bag already discontinued and replaced with the FlexTech carry? I was considering this bag, but not interested in a 3 way top. The superlite is interesting, basically a CEL copy.

I think the new regular Flextech model is a cross between the previous Flextech Lite and the previous larger regular Flextech.

Odd move to put a 3 way on the single strap "4lb" Carry and a 4 way on the dual "3lb" superlite. The Premium Carry looks great and has dual as well, but that 4.5 is likely closer to 5 and still 3 way. I guess 5 irons in each bottom and 3 woods w/ putter in top, but feel like that would be annoying.

I checked out last year’s Premium Carry. While I preferred a 4 way, the 3 way was fine. I used your same club layout and it I don’t find it annoying at all.

I will say I didn’t like the material like I thought I would. It was too rigid for my liking. Also, last year’s model didn’t have a handle at the top  and I didn’t realize how much I used a top handle until I didn’t have one. Glad to see they added a handle year.

Of all the new TM bags, the regular Carry is the most appealing to me.

Yeah not having a top handle would be a deal breaker. I guess the carry does have double from pics, but their chart says otherwise. I like how slim it looks. I have been using ultra lights, but now have a Players 4 and dislike how large the apparel pocket is. I never need that much space.

I noticed the same error.

I walk most of my rounds and I currently game a Hoofer Craz-E Lite which has been serving me well. I do prefer a more traditional material and like the really simple colorways of the new TM Carry model but I can’t justify the change.

I walk most of the time as well. I had to return a carbon that had failed/torn dividers. Waiting to see if I'll get refund or replacement. If it's a refund I'll get another K1-LO or a CEL and use the P4 for winter/rain/cart/travel when I need or can have more storage

Yeah. It’s annoying. Was hoping for a new flextech lite model.

The 3-way top on the FT Carry is a deal breaker. The standard FT looks quite nice.

Does anybody here have any experience with the Premium Carry? The 3 way divider to me is weird since it’s a T shape rather than three horizontal slots
