We used Discover Canada Tours for our trip to Whistler BC. The views were spectacular and our bus driver / tour guide (Joe Bitgood) was awesome…very knowledgeable on the history of BC and it’s geology. Would highly recommend this excursion and Discover Canada.
Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Value
I took the Whistler sightseeing tour with Joe as our guide, it was really great! Joe was very friendly and helpful, informative and knowledgeable about BC and its history; he told us interesting tidbits and stories about the province and Whistler/Blackcomb. I enjoyed being able to do my own thing on the tour, Whistler was beautiful! Thanks again to Joe and Discover Canada Tours!
My family and I booked 4 tours with this company and the first one was by far the best one. Special thanks goes out to Joe Bitgood for taking care of us and ensuring comfort throughout the day while also delivering the true history of British Columbia.
The tour was great! Our tour guide Meaghan was the best. Very nice and knowledgeable. She was funny too! Highly recommended!

Great Vancouver City tour
The small group size and our amazing tour guide Anant made this tour memorable. Anant's knowledge of Vancouver was tremendous. We would highly recommend this tour. The restaurant recommendations she made were fantastic and we had great experiences at two of the recommended spots.

This cosmopolitan city with a rich aboriginal past is today a culturally diverse place with 40% of the population foreign-born immigrants. Nature shares the city equally with people; the metropolitan area has literally hundreds of parks with thriving wildlife to enjoy. A Vancouver tour guide would highly recommend a walk down the Sea wall at Stanley Park to enjoy the waterfront and exceptional green spaces. Outdoor activities include white water rafting, sailing, and deep-sea fishing. Whale watching season can be looked forward to from April to October, with daily trips lasting between three to five hours. Although snow seldom falls in Vancouver, it certainly does on the local ski mountains in the winter months. Take that scenic two-hour drive down the Sea to Sky Highway 99 to Whistler for excellent downhill and cross-country ski facilities. Where else you can sail and ski on the same day? Vancouver has a flourishing nightlife, no surprises there, with restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, shows, festivals and events. And yes, don’t forget to support the local hockey team, the Canucks.

9 Day Rockies Hiking and Camping Tour
Just returned from the 9 days Rocky Mountain Hiking & Camping Adventure with Alex our guide. From pickup to drop off we were blown away by the level of service. The itinerary is so well thought out to include hiking opportunities for all levels of ability and interests. We had a great mix in our group which included beginner hikers and a few who were a lot more experienced. Alex was able to provide opportunities that met the needs of everyone in the group. This tour would be fantastic for anyone new to camping as well, and who wants to try it in a safer group environment. Camping for 8 days felt so comfortable when we were treated to the most 'gourmet' campsite meals day after day! Before the tour Alex answered all of our questions and any concerns we had about the tour which really put our mind at ease. I would recommend this tour for solo travellers, couples, friends - young and old! Thank you again Fresh Adventures for the trip of a lifetime to an incredible part of the world that is the Rockies!!! :)

Canadian Rockies: National Parks Westbound
Loved the tour and our guide was awesome very well organised and fun, adaptive and flexible. Great trip overall with lots of activities. Would be great to have a night in Victoria in a hostel rather than campground as it was too far from the city. Personally for me I would prefer more freedom on what to eat as I am quite picky and would love to have more opportunity to eat out rather than being restricted by tight food budget of a campground, also I thought I would rather spend more time doing things than cooking/washing and just pick up my own lunch on the go but thats a personal preference. Would also be great to see similar tours running for people looking for more challenging hiking. My suggestion would be to run a group once a month with the same program but substituting most hikes with moderate/difficult ones rather than super relaxed walking and put fitness level as a requirement for the trip. It seems there is a gap on the market between hardcore expiditions with heavy backpacks and chilled tours requiring below average level of fitness.

Rockies Classic Summer Tour
I have a great time! Ben is our tour guide, he’s such a great fun, knowledgeable, friendly person. He made sure everyone comfortable, safe, and ready to answer any questions we have during the tour. I did group tour before, I can tell Ben is one of the best.

Canadian Rockies
Fantastic itinerary and a great 2 weeks in the Canadian Rockies. The trip covers all of the 'must see' destinations but the real highlights were the places we wouldn't of found ourselves including an amazing hike at Mt Robson (with a very cold swim in the glacial lake at the top!) and the overnight canoe trip in Wells Grey NP which was a highlight for the entire group. If you enjoy camping, pitching in to prepare meals and the great outdoors then I highly recommend this trip to see the Rockies!
Best time of my life!
Rockies Premium Tour from Vancouver (34 Seats)
A great adventure with truly experienced and professional guides, Will & Savio. They really knew their stuff and kept up a running commentary as we moved along, sharing local information and history with their clients. The route was all the advertising made it out to be and even better, accommodation and meals were brilliant and more than adequate. The attention to detail and making sure that the clients were well informed of what was coming up on the route was well appreciated. The stop and lookout points along the way are perfect and well thought out. Highly recommend this tour and the professionalism of the staff and company.
Fabulous trip encompassing so many beautiful places in a few days. Highly recommended

Excellent trip, definitely recommend it!
Heart of the Canadian Rockies
Excellent tour. Knowledge , caring nature, attitude of the guide really pleased us. We enjoyed the trip very well.
Wonders of the Canadian Rockies (10 Days) (7 destinations)
Was a very good tour great Tour guide & First class Driver The only down for the tour was being let down by Costsaver by being put in sub below Hotel for 2 nights in Canmore when we all thought we would have been in Banff They obviously did not inspect rooms no heating working dusty smelly rooms toilets not flushing dirty sheets even with blood on them an absolute disgrace for the money we paid for this trip Was so disappointing as rest off accomodation was above our expectations
I would highly recommend this tour to everyone who's looking for a real Canadian adventure. It is well organized and it offers the opportunity to see stunning landscapes and wildlife, while enjoying scenic hikes.
Canadian Rockies Express
Itinerary was great, scenery was beautiful, and our guide was fun. I was the only male in the group with my wife and 11 other females and it worked out fine. Everyone was very congenial, and the diversity of the group added to the experience. Only thing I would change would be the accommodations in Vancouver. While the hotel was fine it was very far from the downtown and sights, so we spent most of our time the last day in the van in traffic. Overall, it was a fantastic trip.

Canadian Rockies Tours and Vacation Packages Reviews
Kevin, Brendon and Alex were amazing in organizing a guided adventure trek in the Rockies! From teaching you to pitch your own tent ? to conquering new mountains, they are with you in every step :) Oh and the delicious meals, haha! We had the luxury of having cinnamon buns for breakfast, campfire and s’mores, endless conversations and meeting people from different backgrounds, it’s a trip of a lifetime! Thank you for making my graduation trip worth it, team! Cheers! Apoorva.
This trip was the best experience of my life so far! My CEO Melanie was so amazing, I felt so at ease and happy throughout every step of the tour. This is the perfect trip to see some of Canada. 100000/10 would recommend to everyone!

Everything you need to know about the train from Vancouver to the Canadian Rockies

Travellers who want to explore Canada's Rocky Mountains by train have several options from Vancouver.
Three train companies offer service out of Pacific Central Station through the bucket-list destination, including Amtrak, the Rocky Mountaineer, and Via Rail.
While Amtrak has routes across North America, it uses Via Rail's trains through the Rockies. However, it packages them with other things, such as accommodations, cruises, activities, and more, to offer complete vacations.
Travellers who prefer to create personalized itineraries without pre-selected lodging and activities may wish to book directly through Via Rail.
The Rocky Mountaineer is considered one of the world's leading luxury scenic rail operators, offering multiple tours through the Rockies featuring panoramic views, gourmet food, and knowledgeable guides.
Amtrak also provides low-cost train rides to Seattle and other U.S. destinations, while Via Rail offers cross-Canada trips from the city.
Here's a look at planning a train trip from Vancouver through the majestic Canadian Rockies on Via Rail, Amtrak, or the Rocky Mountaineer.
Travellers can experience several routes on a Via Rail journey across Canada.
The train from Vancouver to Toronto , known as the Canadian, can be broken down into segments if travellers want to explore some select cities. However, the train won't come through those cities daily, meaning they must stay there for at least a couple of nights before they can resume their journey.
To book a multi-stop itinerary, travellers can call VIA Rail and make arrangements with a representative. If they only wish to make one or two stops, it may be possible to keep the price they'd pay for booking "The Canadian" minus the stops. However, they should arrange this as the booking is made rather than after in case space fills up.
A one-way economy class ticket from Vancouver to Toronto may cost $500 to $700 based on availability. This class of service has lots of legroom and "comfortable reclinable seats."
Travellers hoping to catch a decent night's sleep may want to book Sleeper Plus tickets. These tickets are in upper or lower areas where travellers can fully stretch out in a "semi-private" bed. There is a curtain to close at night but the area is communal. During the day, they may be seated across from other people but also have access to other carts, including the Skyline car , the Park car , the Renaissance car and the Dining car , based on route and season.
Sleeper Plus tickets include onboard accommodations for one or two people. Passengers have access to common showers.
Folks who want to travel across the country in ultimate comfort should opt for Prestige Class cabins. These private accommodations feature "a modular leather sofa that can be transformed into a double bed" and a personal concierge. Guests can enjoy gourmet, three-course meals and watch movies from their cabin on a large flatscreen TV. Each cabin also has a private bathroom.
The Prestige options offer an "unparalleled level of elegance, comfort and privileged service," with prices starting at $2,500 (see slide two).
Passengers in Sleeper class or higher can relax in the Business lounge and enjoy free beverages, newspapers and Wi-Fi.
Amtrak Vacations
The Amtrak train from Vancouver to Seattle is a popular option but the company also partners with other Canadian travel providers for holiday voyages.
- Related: Is it cheaper to take the bus or train from Vancouver to Seattle in 2024?
Amtrak Vacations include hotels and day trips with the Canadian by Via Rail for travellers who want to savour their time in the Rockies.
The Canadian Rockies Discovery Eastbound trip includes a seven-day journey through the Rocky Mountains that kicks off with a couple of days in Vancouver (see slide three). On a Hop On Hop Off tour, tourists will visit the city's most popular attractions, such as Stanely Park, Granville Island, and many others. They'll also stop to get a bird's eye view of the city from the Vancouver Lookout.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Vancouver is included in the price but guests can upgrade to another accommodation.
On day three, guests will journey from Downtown Vancouver to Victoria via BC Ferries to discover some Vancouver Island highlights before heading to the Rockies (see slide four).
Guests who live in Vancouver and want to skip the local highlights can call Amtrak Vacations to start with one night's hotel or simply begin on the train. This may reduce the cost of total package price, too.
On day four, passengers will board VIA Rail’s The Canadian from Vancouver's Pacific Central Station en route to Jasper. The journey begins with a "sparkling wine send-off in one of the train’s many domed observation cars while passing through Vancouver’s eastern suburbs and into British Columbia’s agricultural heartland."
Guests spend two days in Jasper and then enjoy a leisurely drive to scenic Banff, home to "wildlife, pristine lakes, and breathtaking mountain peaks along the world-famous Icefields Parkway."
The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest stretches of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. Guests can step out on a glass-floored observation platform to view some of the frozen wonderland. They can hop on the Ice Explorer for an interactive ride where they will get "up close and personal with massive glaciers."
After an overnight in Banff, travellers head will soak in the vibrant turquoise waters of Lake Louise. They can relax at the historical Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise or enjoy activities like canoeing, camping, or wildlife viewing in the area.
Passengers are transported to Alberta's largest city, Calgary, on day nine and the trip ends the following day.
The packages start at US$1,449 per person before taxes or roughly C$1,979.81 based on the current exchange rate.
Several other Amtrak Vacations options include the Canadian Rocky Mountains but add in some other cities south of the border. However, these packages are longer and more costly but travellers get to see some U.S. highlights, too.
Rocky Mountaineer
Western Canada's popular Rocky Mountaineer is praised for its massive picture windows and glass-dome ceilings. The luxury rail tour operator takes guests on awe-inspiring trips through the Rocky Mountains, connecting Vancouver to Banff and Jasper in Alberta.
Since it was founded in 1990, the Canadian rail tour company has transported over two million guests, "making it the largest privately-owned premium tourist train in the world."
In its Goldeaf category , guests can enjoy "elegantly plated meals" made with local ingredients in the dining car, including mains like Alberta Striploin Steak, Crispy Skin Lake Louise Steelhead, and Fraser Valley Chicken Paillard.
There is also an outdoor viewing platform to enjoy the scenery "closer to the action."
Passengers can ride the train by day and then sleep in one of the company's Goldleaf hotels by night. For example, guests travelling to Vancouver stay at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, considered a landmark in the downtown core. In Jasper, they stay at the Fairmont Jasper Lake Lodge in the wooden chalet or heritage cabin on the shores of Lac Beauvert.
The company's Silverleaf menu also includes gourmet food and well-reviewed hotels. However, they aren't quite as flashy as the top-tier selection. Also, the Silverleaf menu has several entrees to choose from at dinner, while the Silverleaf only has a couple. The menu changes changes each night, though.
Short Journeys include one or two days on board the train and one or two nights in a mid-point hotel; they end in a different place than they start.
Rockies Highlights include two or three days on any route, one or two nights in a mid-point hotel, one to two nights in Vancouver, two to seven nights in the Rockies, and "extra days to explore in the Canadian Rockies or American Southwest." These journeys also end in a different place than they begin.
Circle Journeys include four or five days onboard on any two routes, two or three nights in a mid-point hotel, one to two nights in Vancouver, two to six nights in the Rockies, and also have extra days in the Rockies or American Southwest. Unlike the other options, these tours return to the same location where they began (see slide five).
Travellers should prepare to pay more for an experience on the Rocky Mountaineer than with Amtrak Vacations or Via Rail. Since it is considered a luxury operator, the company charges a premium.
For example, a 10-day Canadian Rockies Circle Journey also includes stops in Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise and a visit to the Columbia Icefields. It starts and ends in Vancouver and also includes stops in Kamloops and costs around $6,590 to $12,053 per guest.

Vancouver canucks at nashville predators game 3 odds, picks and predictions, share this article.
The Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators meet in Game 3 of a best-of-7 Western Conference 1st-round series Friday. Puck drop from Bridgestone Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Canucks vs. Predators odds , and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Playoff series: Tied 1-1
The Predators might have deserved a better fate in Game 1. Nashville was leading 2-1 heading into the 3rd period, but allowed 2 goals in a 12-second span, eventually falling 4-2. The Predators were able to gain a split, though, picking up a 4-1 victory as an underdog (+110) in Game 2 as the Under (6) connected.
The Canucks were without starting goaltender Thatcher Demko for Game 2. He suffered an injury which is not believed to be related to the lower-body ailment that forced him out previously. However, coach Rick Tocchet said the All-Star goaltender is considered questionable for the remainder of the series. That meant Casey DeSmith was thrust back into action, and he suffered the loss in Game 2.

- Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS) : Canucks +1.5 (-275) | Predators -1.5 (+220)
- Over/Under (O/U) : 5.5 (O: -125 | U: +105)
Canucks at Predators projected goalies
Casey DeSmith (12-9-6, 2.89 GAA, .896 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Juuse Saros (35-24-5, 2.86 GAA, .906 SV%, 3 SO – regular season)
DeSmith was thrust into action in Game 2, with Demko nursing a new LBI. The backup allowed 3 goals on just 15 shots in 58:58 to take the loss. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in 10 of his past 12 starts since March 16.
Saros picked up the victory in Game 2, turning aside 17 of the 18 shots he faced. He has managed a 1-1-0 record, 2.01 GAA and .895 SV% in 2 starts in this series. It’s been a far cry from how he wrapped up the season, as Saros allowed 4 or more goals in 5 of his final 8 regular-season starts since March 26.

Canucks at Predators picks and predictions
Predators 4, Canucks 3
The PREDATORS (-115) are worth a look in this pivotal Game 3 in the Music City. It’s uncertain if or when Demko will be back for the Canucks (-105) in this series, or in the postseason. Nashville needs to get while the gettin’ is good.
DeSmith isn’t a terrible backstop by any means, but he isn’t an All-Star, either. Saros has snapped back to his previous outstanding form after a rough finish to the regular season.
Puck line/Against the spread
The Canucks +1.5 (-275) will cost you nearly 3 times your potential return if you require insurance, and you cannot play Vancouver straight up. That’s not a recommended long-term betting strategy.
OVER 5.5 ( -125 ) is worth a look. With DeSmith in between the pipes, Nashville should be able to generate a little more offense, similar to Game 2 when it lit the lamp 4 times.
The Predators have cashed the Over in 6 of the past 10 starts by Saros, and Nashville has cashed high in 3 straight at Bridgestone Arena, while the Over is 5-2 in the past 7 games on home ice.

Tourism operators face heavy debt, even as business roars back
Unofficially named 'The First Sidewalk' a 700-foot walking trail system to promote eco-tourism in Bella Bella, B.C. CHAD HIPOLITO/The Canadian Press
Maureen Gordon has weathered hard times before.
She and her husband began running ecotourism outfit Maple Leaf Adventures out of Vancouver about a month before the 9/11 terrorist attacks devastated international travel in 2001.
The rebound was relatively quick. Fallout from COVID-19 has proven much more prolonged.
“The pandemic of course was incredibly tumultuous and scary, as it was, I think, for most tour businesses in Canada,” said Ms. Gordon, who runs week-long sojourns on a schooner, converted tug boat and catamaran along the Pacific coast.
“It was a really traumatic time. We couldn’t operate at all through various government shutdowns,” she recalled. “We were scared, our bank was scared.”
While 2022 was “incredible,” as Canadians looking to expend pent-up energy surged back to domestic travel, 2023 saw a “hiccup” amid rising interest rates that dampened some sojourners’ spirits.
“Although the tourism industry – in terms of interest in travel and booking – is recovering, the businesses are really hurting,” Ms. Gordon said. “I think all of us are carrying the highest debt loads we’ve ever had. Certainly we are.
“We crossed the ocean out of our wrecked boat, and now … we’re all just trying not to die on the beach.”
Tourism has come roaring back from pandemic lows, but operators say the sector has yet to reach pre-COVID levels and debt remains a hefty burden for thousands of small businesses across the country.
International visitor numbers remained down from four years earlier, with tourists from the U.S. at 85 per cent of 2019 levels and those from further afield at 78 per cent, according to Crown corporation Destination Canada.
The industry brought in more than $109-billion in revenue last year, about 4 per cent more than in 2019 but significantly less in real terms after accounting for inflation, according to the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.
Beth Potter, who heads the association, has called on the federal government to create a new low-interest loan program and temporary foreign worker stream, both specific to the tourism industry.
“We have not had any kind of indication that we’re going to see these,” she noted. In fact, the government aims to reduce temporary residents’ share of Canada’s population over the next three years.
The impact won’t be “as extreme” in tourism as in agriculture or food processing, she said. But it will hit ski resorts as well as tourism-dependent areas such as Northern Canada and Niagara Falls, Ont.
Travel, hospitality and recreation offerings are effectively a perishable commodity, which means it’s especially hard to make back lost earnings.
“If you don’t book the hotel room tonight, you can’t book that hotel room two times tomorrow night,” Ms. Potter said.
The sector’s recovery continues to trail that of the broader business world. The number of active tourism-linked businesses sat slightly below prepandemic levels as of December, while the number of businesses overall surpassed 2019 figures, data from Destination Canada showed.
Across all sectors, two in three small- and medium-sized enterprises still held pandemic debt at the end of last year, with an average of $107,700, according to a Canadian Federation of Independent Business survey of 3,148 members. Out of 14 sectors surveyed, operators in hospitality and transportation were among the most pessimistic about the coming year. Only retail scored worse.
Ski operations and tourist hotspots such as the Okanagan Valley have had a particularly rough year.
“We had winters that weren’t winters for us,” said Tourism Minister Soraya Martinez Ferrada in a phone interview.
“We were really impacted last year with climate change in terms, fire, drought, floods,” she continued. “People were actually cancelling their travels to Canada because they were thinking that the whole country was on fire. Remember the smoke in New York?”
While some tourism statistics for Canada’s four largest cities – Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary – are now on track to overtake 2019 numbers, farther-flung parts of the country continue to struggle.
“Regions a bit further away from those very big hubs had more difficulty to regain the momentum,” the minister said. Business travel and conventions also continue to lag, she added.
Regional transport has failed to bounce back as well, with domestic seat capacity at 84 per cent of 2019 levels as of the fourth quarter of 2023, according to Destination Canada. That can dent domestic travel and leisure markets.
“If people want to go between Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland in the wintertime, when the ferry is not running, you’d have to fly to Toronto,” said Ms. Potter, pointing to the deterrent.
The minister cited pledges laid out in the federal budget to support tourism. The government has vowed to provide new funding to replace Via Rail’s aging fleet on routes outside the corridor running between Quebec City and Windsor, Ont. – an amount has not yet been specified owing to an upcoming procurement process.
Martinez Ferrada also highlighted $124-million for Atlantic ferry operations as well as investments in development opportunities in the North and for Indigenous tourism operations announced last year.
While no new sector-specific loans are on the horizon, she framed the $2.5-billion in carbon rebates slated to land in small- and medium-sized businesses’ bank accounts in the coming months as a financial buoy.
Back in Vancouver, Ms. Gordon said the year looks promising, with some caveats.
“Most people aren’t 100 per cent confident in their projections,” she said. “It’s not a straight-line recovery … We all feel that the market is really unpredictable right now.
“People in our industry are pretty passionate about what they do and pretty determined. It’s not a doom-and-gloom story,” she reflected.
“But it is a story of huge struggle – and maybe some of it’s unnecessary struggle – and burden on a key industry that brings so much benefit to Canada and promotes our brand in the world.”
