Birla Mandir Jaipur Timings, Aarti and Darshan

Aarti, a Hindu religious ritual of worship, is a ceremony of lights that involves circling an ‘aarti plate’ or ‘aarti lamp’ in front of the deity. At Birla Mandir Jaipur, the aarti is performed with great devotion, illuminating the temple with a divine glow and filling the air with spiritual fervor. The temple conducts aarti ceremonies twice a day:

  • Morning Aarti: Just after the temple opens, the morning aarti is performed. This is the time when the first rays of the sun light up the temple’s white marble, creating a serene and majestic atmosphere. Devotees gather in the early hours to participate in this ceremony, seeking blessings for the day ahead.
  • Evening Aarti: As the sun sets, the temple premises are lit up once again for the evening aarti. This ceremony is a sight to behold, with the temple bathed in the warm glow of lamps and the air resonating with chants and hymns. The evening aarti offers a perfect closure to the day, providing a moment of reflection and peace.

Darshan: Beholding the Divine

Darshan in Hinduism refers to the auspicious act of beholding the deity’s image, a moment believed to be filled with divine grace and blessings. Birla Mandir Jaipur welcomes visitors for darshan throughout the day, except during the brief intervals for aarti and certain rituals. The temple’s darshan timings are designed to accommodate the schedules of both early risers and those who prefer to visit later in the day:

  • Opening Time: The temple opens its doors to devotees early in the morning, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquil beauty of the deity in the soft morning light.
  • Closing Time: The temple remains open until late evening, providing ample opportunity for visitors to partake in the evening aarti and have darshan before the day ends.

Visiting Birla Mandir Jaipur during these spiritual timings is not just about observing the rituals; it’s an experience that encompasses the beauty of devotion, the tranquility of the surroundings, and the architectural grandeur of the temple. Whether you are participating in the aarti, enjoying the peaceful morning darshan, or soaking in the divine atmosphere during the evening, the experience is sure to leave an indelible mark on your soul.

For those planning to visit, it’s advisable to check the latest timings as they may vary on special occasions or festivals. Embracing the spiritual essence of Birla Mandir Jaipur through its aarti and darshan is a journey into the heart of devotion, offering a glimpse into the profound beauty of Hindu worship practices.

History of Birla Mandir, Jaipur

The construction of this finest temple in India started in 1977 by Ramanuj Das . The history states that this land was donated by the King of Jaipur, Maharaja Man Singh II to Ganshyamdas Birla at the cost of a mere one rupee for constructing this temple. The Birla family is one of the Indian industrialist families working at BM Birla Foundation. As per the story,

Shree Rang Ramanuj Das saw a dream of Lord Laxminarayan in the year 1904. In his dream, the Lord told Ramanuj Das  that the temple is being built over the land where he lives. He then asked Ramanuj Das to dig up the idol and bring him back to Earth.

It took around 8 years for this structure to develop. As per the historical presences, Mahatma Gandhi was invited to inaugurate Birla Mandir. To this, Gandhi stated that he would only accept the invitation if devotees of all social castes are allowed in the temple. The consecration ritual of the temple was conducted on 22nd February 1985.

Architectural Beauty

This white architectural masterpiece is designed in the finest white marble carvings emitting a sparkling effect. The structure of the religious Birla Temple is a beautiful blend of archaic Hindu architecture tones and modern design. The religious temple is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. It looks spectacular from the far away being built on a high platform encircled from three sides by road and on the fourth side by Shankargarh Fort.

On the walls of the temple quotes and sayings from the Puranas and Upanishads are engraved intricately from well-known preachers and holy men. It has three domes that represent the three different religious approaches – Hinduism, Christianity and Islam. The outer part of the temple is decorated with delicately carved statues from all religions including Socrates, Zarathustra, Christ, Buddha, and Confucius. They have tinted glass windows that illustrate mythology tales of deities.

As you enter the premises of the temple, you will find yourself standing in front of the image of Lord Ganesha which is deemed to be immensely auspicious. This idol is a magnum opus that seems to be almost transparent. From there you reach the idols of Lakshmi and Narayan enshrined at the main sanctum of the temple. The incredible pictures are carved out of a single piece of marble and are illustrated with the most luxurious adornments and attire.

The most striking feature of this temple are its doors which have carvings in gold. You will also spot marvelous engravings on marble pillars at the main entrance and an arch with intricate jali work design. The entrance also has two seating ledges on both sides for visitors. A broad walkway of white marble around the main temple is used by people to take a stroll at the expansive gardens surrounding the main complex of the Birla Temple. A small museum displaying the household items used by the members of the Birla family is exhibited here.

Prime Attraction

The major attraction at this temple is the pictorial exhibits of achievers, spiritual saints, philosophers, and many others, who have made an impact in the world’s history. You will also get to witness lovely paintings carved on the walls depicting beautiful scenes from holy books like Bhagavad Gita.

Another prime attraction that draws tourists here is that this white-marbled temple illuminates at night. In the daylight, the surroundings of lush green gardens on all its sides lend this temple a serene and beautiful environment with a pleasing view.

Apart from this, the peaceful chanting of the holy mantras, the ringing of temple bells, and the diffused fragrance of incense sticks takes you to a different world of serenity.

Please correct astrology with Astronomy.

Hi. We are two french tourists visiting Rajasthan in October, on a private tour, with our driver and his car. We’ll be in Jaipur from 26th in the afternoon till 28th in the morning. I have been in a astronomy club in France for more than 10 years and very much interested in astronomy. I will visit Jantar Mantar for the second time (with a guide I hope). I wondered if there is a astronomy club in Jaipur and if it were possible to observe with them, if by chance they do on 26th or 27th evenings. Same for Jaisalmer, from 22nd to 25th. Thanks for your help ! Best regards. Isabelle CADOUX

Built on an elevated platform, this comparatively modern temple is built entirely of white marble and dominates the skyline of south Jaipur. The temple was commissioned and built by renowned Indian industrialists, the Birlas, in 1988. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, also called Narayan, and his companion, Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and good fortune. The temple is a work of art and has a marvellous display of exquisite carvings and sculptures covering many mythological themes. This is designed to pay homage to secular India. The temple looks spectacular at night when it is lit up. Other than the main temple, the complex has a museum that exhibits the earlier belongings of the Birla family. History of Birla temple It was built by one of the famous business families of India, the Birla family, who were given this land by the Maharaja of Jaipur for a token sum of one rupee. The main temple.

Inside the main temple building of Birla Mandir, there are two exquisite standing idols of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, with the auspicious Hindu symbol Om on the wall at the back. These statues are a work of art and are adorned with gorgeous dresses and ornaments.

In front of the idols, a railing of marble has been made to keep the devotees at a distance and to create space for the priest to offer the prayers. There are painted stained glass windows on both sides which look breathtaking beautifully when sunlight passes through them.

The ceiling of the temple displays intricate craftsmanship and people often sit on the floor to observe its beauty. Doors to the temple are embellished with carvings in gold which look strikingly beautiful . The main entrance to the temple is flanked by marble pillars with splendid engravings and an arch with intricate jaali work design. There are two seating ledges on both sides of the entrance for visitors.

A broad walkway of white marble around the main temple is used by people to take a stroll after paying homage as it gives a full view of the lawns and the hills at the back of the temple. Since Birla Mandir is located at an elevation, you can see some parts of the city as well from here.

The sprawling temple premises have manicured lawns surrounding the main temple building. People who visit the temple at night make it a point to spend some time sitting on the stairs to admire the beauty of the temple and its surroundings.

At night, the temple looks ethereal with the moonlight reflecting off the white marble domes and casting a magical effect. Several dome lights are placed all around the temple and when they are lit up at night along with the insides of the temple, the glowing beauty can be witnessed from a distance.

There are several guides available here who can take you for a guided tour of the temple. These guides are fluent in the local dialect as well as several other languages. The time taken for a tour of the entire temple is generally an hour but most people end up spending much more time here because of the beauty of the temple and its lawns.

The ground floor of the temple has several shops that sell idols of gods and goddesses and local handicrafts. There is also a museum at the campus that showcases ancestral artifacts belonging to the founder Birla family.

Another iconic and equally famous temple of Jaipur, Moti Doongri is situated at a walking distance from Birla Mandir. It was a great experience to watch the performance in this auditorium. The design is not only in line with the international style, but also in Indian style, with enough seats and especially clean, I think this is the best auditorium in India.

user-icon

The local tour guide said that the Birla Auditorium is now one of the largest auditoriums in India, and one of many famous Indian conferences considering the location. It is said that the sound equipment inside is very good, the sound effect is also great, and many high-end performances in India will be held here. Unfortunately, we didn’t get inside to enjoy a high level of performance due to time constraints, only to appreciate its beautiful appearance from the outside.
