Doesn’t accommodate infants under 6 months

The Joolz Aer travel stroller is a premium product that gives both travel buggies and full-size strollers a run for their money.

Setup Process: Effortless

Design: smart and chic, age range: not for newborns, safety: checks all the boxes, portability: conveniently compact, price: a little pricey, competition: worth weighing your options.

  • Final Verdict

We received a Joolz Aer stroller review unit so our expert reviewer could thoroughly test and assess it. Keep reading for our full product review.

From jogging strollers, reversible strollers , and travel systems to umbrella strollers , stroller frames, and foldable buggies, there’s a wide range of wheelable products on the market for transporting a tot. How many different strollers does one family need, anyway? In my opinion, most families can get away with just two: a standard, go-to stroller for everyday use, and a smaller, more portable option for traveling.

Having said that, if your child is over 6 months of age, a high-quality travel buggy might be all you need. The Joolz Aer stroller boasts a compact, lightweight, and highly portable design with an upscale appeal, backing up its claims with a lifetime warranty. Plus, for every stroller sold, Joolz plants a tree in Columbia , which is a plus for environmentally conscious families.

To see if it lives up to the hype, I tested one myself. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the new Aer travel buggy.

This item was a review unit provided to the writer by a PR company before the official release of the stroller.

Out of the box, the Joolz Aer comes fully assembled in its carrying satchel. Unfolding and folding it is a breeze. By pressing a button on the buggy’s handlebar, it unfolds and locks into place almost automatically—no shaking or adjusting needed. Pressing the same button unlocks the stroller, prompting it to fold back up.

I’m able to open and close it with one hand, even while holding my 27-pound toddler. I can honestly say it’s easier to open and close than every stroller I’ve ever used.

This luxury travel stroller has an attractive, almost Instagrammable design. It comes in four colors: Delightful Grey, Elegant Blue, Mighty Green, and Refined Black. The buggy has four wheels, the front of which are slightly smaller. Its sleek, faux-leather handlebar is extra tall, which my 6-foot-3 husband appreciates.

The Joolz Aer has a zippered storage pocket on the back and a basket underneath the seat, which can hold up to 11 pounds. It’s large enough for a grocery bag, purse, or diaper bag . Additionally, the Aer has a retractable, UPF 50+ sun cover with a mesh peek-a-boo window and comes with a clear plastic rain cover.

When I take my 14-month-old son on walks with the Joolz Aer, I feel like a cool mom.

The high-quality design of the Aer makes for super-smooth maneuvering. Not only is it easy to fold and unfold, but pushing it around also requires almost no effort. When I take my 14-month-old son on walks with the Joolz Aer, I feel like a cool mom. Also, my son seems completely content and at ease sitting in the cushioned stroller.

According to the manufacturer, the Joolz Aer is designed for children between 6 months of age and 50 pounds. I found it a bit odd that the company doesn’t list a weight minimum, but I get the impression that this travel stroller is not suitable for infants who still ride in a car seat stroller attachment .

The seat of the Aer has a tall back, which is supposed to accommodate growing babies and toddlers. This a welcome bonus, as my son is both heavy and tall for his age.

The Joolz Aer has a five-point safety harness, which is the standard buckling setup on strollers for children 6 months and older. The straps and buckles are easy to connect and adjust. According to Joolz, the seat is designed to conform to a child’s body as they relax into it. My son tends to slouch down into strollers and seems comfortable and secure in the seat of the Aer.

The Aer also has a pedal brake between the back wheels. This makes it easy to toggle between the locked and unlocked positions. When the brake is on, the stroller stays put, even on steep slopes.

The manufacturer promises that its products are free of chemicals and toxins. To guarantee this, Joolz regularly has its materials tested by accredited third-party labs.

Traveling can be stressful enough with young children. If you’re like me, lugging around bulky baby gear through an airport is probably the last thing you want to do. That’s why a lightweight, foldable buggy is essential.

When it’s unfolded, the 13.4-pound Joolz Aer is as large as a standard stroller, yet it folds up into a conveniently compact configuration. It fits into the trunk of both our cars, one of which is relatively small. It could also be transported in the back seat or passenger seat of a vehicle. According to Joolz, it’s compact enough for an overhead bin on an airplane.

It’s an all-purpose stroller suitable for both on-the-go and everyday use.

This stroller comes in a large drawstring satchel with plenty of slack. Packing it back in is quick and easy compared to other travel buggies that come with notably small carrying bags. The satchel has a large strap, which allows me to tote it over one shoulder. That said, carrying the Aer by the handle without its travel bag is also pretty effortless.

The Joolz Aer is priced at $399. Compared to other umbrella strollers and travel buggies, it’s certainly on the higher end. Other strollers from Joolz range from $700 to $1,050, so the Aer is the brand’s most budget-friendly option. Considering the high-end quality and the fact that the Aer can also be used as a primary stroller, I think the price is reasonable.

Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller: Families looking for a less expensive option may want to consider the 3Dlite Convenience Stroller ( view on Amazon ), which is about $70. Similar to the Joolz Aer, this 13-pound buggy is suitable for both travel and everyday use. While both offer ample storage, this stroller also comes with a cup holder.

besrey Airplane Stroller: Weighing just under 12 pounds, the besrey Airplane Stroller ( view on Amazon ) iis slightly lighter than the Aer and more compact when folded up. It runs from $160 to $200. Like the Aer, this travel buggy comes with a plastic rain cover and has generous storage under the seat.

Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller: The Nano Stroller from Mountain Buggy ( view on Amazon ) is priced around $200. At 13 pounds, it’s roughly the same weight as the Joolz Aer. However, unlike the Aer, it’s compatible with infant car seats without the need for additional adapters.

The Joolz Aer is a stylish and attractive product with a convenient, high-quality design. Although it’s more expensive than many travel buggies, it’s an all-purpose stroller suitable for both on-the-go and everyday use. I’m giving it my stamp of approval.

Top notch compact stroller

Although I’m using previous version of Joolz Aer over an year, compared lot of other strollers my friends are using, this is the best compact stroller!!

Sleek and Smooth

love the sleek look of the Joolz aer+

my baby loves sitting in it and it is a really smooth push

The perfect travel stroller!

Perfect stroller

The perfect stroller for city living. Fits in small spaces, the best fold, and the push is so smooth. I tried out the bugaboo butterfly and baby zen yoyo, and this was by far my favorite. Does a good job with uneven surfaces for a compact stroller, and my little one seems comfy in it. Can’t wait to also use this while traveling. The only things I would improve is the slightly finicky recline mechanism and wish the basket was a little bigger.

lightweight

Very lightweight and easy-to-use one-hand opening/closing system. Perfect compact stroller for on-the-go! Easy to maneuver. Have to buy leg-rest and bumper bar separately, which is a bit disappointing, but other than that, a great stroller!

Joolz Aer Stroller Review

joolz aer stroller

We purchased and tested the Joolz Aer and 19 other lightweight strollers. The Aer was the top-performing stroller and scored particularly well in maneuverability, folding, weight and folded-size. We don’t like the harness buckle or the seat recline mechanism, but the benefits of this stroller far outweigh the downsides.

We ran the Joolz through over 100 tests and measurements, comparing it directly to 19 other strollers over several months. We used it with kids one-year-old up to five, and with parents of different heights.

Kid Travel Video Review

Weight and Folded Size

The Joolz Aer is only 13.4 lbs and folds down to 1.8 cu ft. This makes it ideal as a travel stroller. It is one of the lightest and smallest strollers you can buy.

Folded Size

Steering and Maneuverability

My favorite part about this stroller is how easy it is to push and turn. I thought having the rear wheels closer together than the front wheels might make steering more difficult, but it doesn’t.

We pushed this stroller over flat sidewalks, bumpy sidewalks, grass and an obstacle course. It steers and turns easily on flat surfaces. Steering and maneuverability ratings:

The Joolz is not made for offroad travel. The smallish wheels easily get stuck between stones and don’t jump over larger sticks.

We also found that the force required to jump curbs is greater than most other strollers.

Lightweight strollers often have wheel vibration, especially at a fast pace or over bumps. The Joolz had among the lowest in wheel vibration measurements. This made it more comfortable to push and provided a smoother ride for the kids.

When pushing straight on a flat surface the Joolz was similar to other strollers in its tendency to veer.

Ease of Use

Joolz AER storage basket with doll in stroller

The Joolz Aer has an easy-to-reach storage basket that is .49 cubic feet which is small compared to many other umbrella strollers. It holds a maximum of 11 lbs.

You can access the basket from both the front and the back. The sides of the basket are low so you have to be a bit careful about things falling out.

Storage Capacity:

There is a pocket on the back of the stroller that is very tight but works well for storing small items like mobile phones and car keys.

Without purchasing accessories the stroller doesn’t come with any other storage. There is no parent console, no parent or kid cup holders or snack tray.

joolz aer pocket on back of stroller

The handle is fixed at 40 inches high which is a good height for both taller and shorter parents. It is comfortable and classy looking, made of faux leather.

joolz aer handle

The handle and frame feel solid. It doesn’t bend or give like the gb Pockit+’s handle.

The peekaboo window is thin but adequate to see through and its mesh fabric allows some airflow through the canopy.

joolz aer peekaboo, mesh window allows you to see baby in the seat

We performed tip-over testing and found the Joolz more likely to tip over from a child leaning out over the side than most strollers we tested.

tip-over testing

The Joolz arrived fully assembled and it only took a couple of minutes to get it unboxed. The user manual is not fantastic, but adequate.

The brake is one of the best I’ve ever seen. It toggles up and down. You don’t have to use the top of your foot to release the brake so it doesn’t hurt even when barefoot.

The single brake pedal stops both rear wheels. The brake engages the first time, unlike some strollers that require a couple of tries.

joolz aer single-pedal brake

The stroller back does recline but the recline mechanism is not particularly convenient. It requires unzipping around the back of the stroller and then adjusting side straps. You’ll only have to adjust the straps one time.

Unzipping the recline zipper

Once the seat back is reclined, there is some mesh fabric that lets air in.

joolz aer with seat back reclined

The buckle on the 5-point harness requires clicking in four different straps. Most buckles have a way to only clip twice, one on each side. This only adds a couple of extra seconds to the process but is still a hassle.

The hip harness straps adjust smoothly. The material is silky and the clips slide easily.

However, the shoulder harness straps are a bit more challenging to adjust. They work the same way as the hip straps but it takes some practice to get them to slide up. Fortunately, the shoulder harnesses don’t have to be rethreaded.

Joolz aer shoulder harness straps

There is a nice travel bag that comes with the stroller. It has a long, adjustable strap. The strap is not padded but is not too uncomfortable.

Joolz Aer red travel bag with long black handle strap

The stroller also comes with a rain cover that attaches with velcro to the frame.

plastic raincover over the joolz aer

While it is nice that it comes with a travel bag and rain cover, if you want car seat adapters, a footboard, cup holder, bassinet, bumper bar, leg rest, or parent console, you will have to purchase them separately.

Folding and Transport

Our “How to fold the Joolz Aer” video:

The Joolz Aer is a true one-hand-fold stroller. You push in the small release button, squeeze the big white fold button and push forward. It folds in 2 seconds and opens in 3 seconds.

The Aer is a good alternative to an umbrella stroller because of its weight and compact folded size.

This stroller came out on top in the Folding and Transport category:

The stroller stays folded until you release it with the “fold button” on the handle. Some customers have complained that the stroller got stuck when folded and wouldn’t unfold. We haven’t had this problem.

It stands on its own while folded. It will roll when folded but you have to lean over to pull it, so it’s easier just to carry it by the included strap.

joolz aer folded and standing

This stroller is 21″ x 17.7″ x 8.5″ folded. This is slightly larger than the maximum carry-on bag dimensions of 22″ x 14″ x 9″, published by most US-based airlines. The stroller fits fine in an overhead bin, but you may or may not get away with it. Travel strollers like the gb Pockit+ or Cybex Libelle should always be accepted by airlines.

Despite the possibility that some airlines might make you gate check the Aer, we still consider it one of the best travel strollers available.

The Joolz Aer comes in the following color options:

  • Mighty Green
  • Delightful Grey
  • Elegant Blue
  • Lovely Taupe
  • Refined Black

Kid Comfort

We tested every stroller for the level of bumpiness and vibration in the ride. I was surprised that the Joolz Aer has a smoother ride than even the larger strollers with big wheels.

testing ride smoothness of strollers with an accelerometer.

The seat has soft and thick padding on the bottom and back. The crotch strap is padded but not the harnesses. This doesn’t make too big of a difference since the harnesses are smooth to the touch.

The seat back in its upright position reclines just slightly more than we would like at 56°. 70° for older kids lets them sit up enough to be able to see out fully.

The seat reclines to 33 ° which is certainly enough to take a nap but is not even close to being flat. To get a flat sleeping surface you need to purchase the Joolz Aer Carrycot (bassinet) as shown below.

travel bag for joolz aer

The pram does not include a kid cup holder or snack tray. Cup holders and a car seat adapter can be purchased separately.

The car seat adapters are currently compatible with the following infant car seats:

  • Clek: Liingo, Liing
  • Nuna Pipa: Pipa, Pipa Lite, Pipa Lite R, Pipa Lite LX
  • Cybex; Aton2, Cloud Q, Aton M

The canopy provides basic sun coverage but is not as large as those on some strollers that extend over the child’s knees. The canopy is rated UPF 50+ by the manufacturer.

The mesh, peekaboo area of the canopy can be zipped up and collapsed.

joolz aer canopy coverage

I like the sturdiness and operation of the canopy. It retains its shape well and stays in place.

The seats are 10 inches deep and 13.5 inches across. This is large enough for bigger kids to feel comfortable in the stroller. The maximum weight and height limits are 50 lbs and 42.5 inches.

Quality and Safety

The Joolz Aer is a pricey stroller that supports the price with high-quality parts, materials, and design. It feels and looks like a high-end stroller.

Joolz aer stroller front and rear wheels

The wheels are made of polyurethane and solid plastic. The Joolz was average compared to other strollers in the decibel level of sound generated in our noise testing.

The frame is aluminum and feels solid. There are a couple of zippers that operate reliably as do the buckle and harness clip.

The most important moving part is the folding mechanism which hasn’t caused us any problems but we don’t yet know how well it will hold up with heavy, long-term use.

One of the highest incidents of stroller-related injuries is from pinching and amputation related primarily to hinges. We tested the folding hinges and canopy hinges for pinching potential. While it is possible to pinch yourself, this stroller had good results compared to most other strollers.

A study published in 2016 found many stroller injuries related to children falling over or falling out of strollers.

It is never recommended to hang diaper bags on prams because of the risk of tipping them over. The Joolz Aer tips over with a 12 lb weight hanging from the push handle while the stroller is empty.

Joolz Aer vs Bugaboo Butterfly

the bugaboo butterfly stroller sitting next to the joolz are on its right. Both strollers are black.

The Bugaboo Butterfly scored just slightly below the Joolz Aer overall in our testing. Both are excellent strollers. The Butterfly is 2.7 lbs heavier and about 9% larger when folded.

Neither one technically fits in the typical 22x14x9 carry-on size requirement for an overhead bin, but both are very close and may be accepted by some airlines.

from left to right the yoyo2, butterfly and aer strollers folded and standing up side by side

Although you can’t tell from the picture above, the Butterfly storage basket holds .75 ft 3 vs the Aer’s .49 ft 3 .

Both strollers are highly maneuverable, and both fold and unfold fast and easily. See our full Bugaboo Butterfly Stroller Review .

The Bugaboo recline mechanism is simpler than the Aer’s, and the Bugaboo’s seat reclines back a little farther for better napping. Unfortunately, the seat reclines in its fully upright position reclines a bit too much for children who would prefer not to be leaning back.

Joolz Aer vs Babyzen YoYo2

Babyzen yoyo2 on left,, joolz aer on right

The Babyzen YoYo2 is a popular, high-end stroller that competes with the Joolz Aer. The YoYo2 is similar in weight to the Aer, and its folded dimensions are more likely to meet airline size requirements for fitting in an overhead bin.

The downside to the YoYo2 is folding. The first stage of the folding process requires two hands pressing simultaneously on buttons on each side of the frame. The second stage requires reaching under the stroller and depressing a button, then pulling a plastic lever, then grabbing and pulling the frame. Even with practice, it takes about twice as long to fold as the Aer.

Our full review of the Babyzen YoYo2 .

The YoYo2 has a better seat recline mechanism than the Aer and a slightly more difficult-to-use brake system.

Joolz Aer Stroller Review – Real Mom Tested & Approved

Joolz Aer Stroller Review – Real Mom Tested & Approved

Joolz Aer is the best travel stroller on the market if you ask me. I have way too many strollers (over ten), from luxury strollers, stroller wagons, trikes, compact strollers, foldable strollers, and other umbrella strollers too.  So you could say I know a thing or two about the best travel strollers.

When you do a Joolz Aer vs. Yoyo match-up, the Joolz Aer is a clear winner!

The Joolz Aer is everything I have been looking for in a comfortable travel stroller. Lightweight, Luxurious, and Easy to Fold are three descriptors every parent wants to hear when looking for the ultimate purchase for their kids: a stroller. It is perfect for short trips to the mall, park, or travel, yet durable and strong enough for everyday use.

An easy one-hand foldable stroller is a must for kid travel. You don’t want to be tripping over a stroller on vacation in your room or struggling to fold it at the gate or a restaurant. Trust me, you don’t want to be that mom cursing at the stroller as you struggle to fold it… I’ve been that mom, I know.

There’s a large variety of options when it comes to strollers, and some people even own multiple ones, including an everyday stroller and a travel stroller. However, the Joolz Aer travel stroller solves both of these needs, requiring your family to own only one!

I currently own eight strollers, two stroller wagons , and two trikes . Trust me. Finding the perfect stroller for you takes a lot of trial and error.

It is designed with travel in mind as this lightweight stroller only weighs 13 pounds and is compact as it can fit in the airline overhead bin. It comes with a travel bag and a rain cover, making it perfect for any destination. My favorite part is that it comes straight out of the travel bag, ready to use, as no assembly is required.

The Joolz company believes in investing in environmentally friendly recyclable packaging and packages the stroller in multiple big and small cardboard boxes so you can turn the boxes into crafts for the kids and recycle the packaging. The company even provides instructions on how to turn the box into an airplane to play with.

Alright, let’s get into my Joolz Aer stroller review and why I love it so much!

mom at airport with two kids in strollers Joolz Aer and Babyzen Yoyo

**Update April 2023 – Before writing my honest Joolz Aer review post, I wanted to really put it to the test and use it for 12+ months. I have been exclusively using the Joolz Aer as our single travel stroller for a year now, and I still love it!

I brought it on our Alaska cruise, and it was the best stroller for a cruise as it was easy to fold and put away in our small cabin. It has been on 20+ flights with us, ferries, beaches, and boats. You name it, we take it with us.

We just returned from a five-week trip to Mexico, and on this trip, we decided to bring two single strollers instead of our travel double stroller, the Zoe . I decided to buy and put the Babyzen YoYo to the test. If you travel often, this is the most common lightweight travel stroller you’ll see. Many moms and mom bloggers swear by it, so I had to test it out.

I had my daughter in the Aer and my son in the Yoyo on our five-week trip to Mexico. I hated the Yoyo…I hated almost everything about it. The fold was so annoying, not one-handed like the Aer, the canopy was not nearly as good, the storage was less, the brake was annoying, and the list goes on. Read my full Yoyo stroller review .

The New Joolz Aer + Stroller – Is it Worth it?

Joolz recently released an upgraded newer version called the Aer+. If you are like me and already owned the original Aer, you might wonder if the new version is worth it and if you should purchase it. The fold and weight are basically the same, but there are a few very minor improvements.

If you don’t own the stroller already, then YES, the Aer+ is worth it. If you already own the original Aer, the Aer Plus is not worth buying to replace the original Aer. If you own the original, I would invest in this Aer+ bumper bar as it is compatible with the original Aer, and you can now fold the stroller with this bumper bar attached.

Here are the main improvements on the Aer+

  • the bumper bar is foldable and can stay on while folding
  • slightly larger storage basket, but you can hardly notice
  • near flat recline
  • larger canopy
  • relocated shoulder harness buckles
  • the rain cover is no longer included for free with the new version

What is the Joolz Aer Stroller?

The Joolz Aer is “more than a buggy” and is a truly innovative stroller designed to meet the needs of every child and parent. The stroller is designed to last from the newborn stage using the cot attachment all the way up to kindergarten.

The stroller was designed with comfort in mind so kids enjoy their ride and parents can continue life on the go with ease!

Joolz Aer Features

  • Lightweight, compact stroller at only 13 pounds
  • Fits in the overhead bin for most airlines
  • One-hand fold within seconds (it really is a one-hand fold in seconds), the best foldable stroller
  • Smooth and effortless to maneuver
  • Sleek modern design – comes in 6 stylish colors
  • Compact size with elastic carry strap
  • Patented ergonomic seat

Would I Buy it Again?

YES! If you have read any of my other blog posts, you know the Aer is my favorite stroller!

Joolz uses high-quality design elements that definitely make a difference to parents, as the 5-point harness provides safety and is easy to use. Oh and it is a stylish travel stroller too.

The wheels are strong and smooth to maneuver. It provides lots of storage and offers good ventilation. The high-quality design elements convinced me that this was a great purchase as an everyday stroller.

Joolz Aer+ Cost

This stroller retails for around $449, which is in line with most travel strollers. Check current prices and specials here .

Woman in front of Disney castle in Kissimmee florida - top things to do

Is the Joolz Aer Disney Approved Stroller?

Yes! Make sure to read our best Disney strollers article for detailed info on what strollers are allowed at Disney Parks.

What Ages is the Joolz Aer for?

The Joolz Aer seat will not go completely flat, so it cannot be used until six months of age or when your baby can sit up on their own unless you purchase the additional bassinet here . The travel cot allows you to use the stroller immediately from birth. It is designed to be used up to 4 years old or 48 pounds, whichever occurs first.

Since I only have one Aer, I used that primarily with my 2.5-year-old on my Alaska cruise and my Doona car seat stroller for my 11-month-old. My 11-month-old did spend a good amount of time in the Aer when we didn’t need a stroller for my 2-year-old.

If you are looking for a really good travel double or an everyday double stroller for errands, check out my Zoe Twin review article .

Is it Suitable for Newborns?

Yes, the Aer+ is suitable for newborns with the use of the carrycot Joolz Aer+. In 2021, Joolz released the Aer+ cot. You can purchase the additional bassinet here .

If you have the original Aer, most likely you purchased it prior to 2021 when the bassinet wasn’t available. The good news, though, the Joolz Aer+ carrycot is compatible with the original Aer.

The travel cot lets you use the stroller immediately from birth, making it a great premium baby stroller.

What I Love about the Joolz Aer Stroller

The Joolz Aer has patented one-hand fold capability, allowing parents to fold the stroller with only one hand in only a few seconds. It’s the quickest folding stroller with a foldable bumper bar available on the market, way better than competitors have to offer.

My favorite feature is the elastic carrying strap. Since it is only 13 pounds and has a strap, it is super easy and lightweight to carry once it is folded. You can use a combination of the elastic strap and the travel bag, making it easy to bring on any family adventure.

It is unique as it features an ergonomic seat that supports both the back and neck while the child is awake or asleep. The seat is designed to be a super comfortable stroller for kids to spend a lot of time in and enjoy their time.

reclining the Aer stroller

Joolz Aer Pros

  • One-hand fold
  • Compact, lightweight, and collapsible
  • Ergonomic seat with padding for a comfortable ride
  • 5 point harness
  • The new Joolz Aer+ bumper bar can stay on when folded. The old lap bar you had to remove when folding. Make sure you buy this lap bar .
  • A few small items can stay in the storage basket and still be folded with no problem.

Joolz Aer Cons

  • It is tricky to recline when the child is in the seat (you have to bend down and zip the extra seat in and make sure the seat straps are in. It’s not hard; it just has to be done)
  • It can’t be used with babies under six months unless you buy an additional attachment.
  • It only offers the ability to forward face.
  • No lap bar included(my kids like to hold onto the lap bar), but you can purchase one here

  • Length – 32.7 inches, Width – 17.7 inches, and height of 41.5 inches.

Dimensions when folded:

  • Length – 21 inches, Width – 17.7 inches, and height of 8.5 inches.

Not only is it compact, but this light weight stroller is only 13 pounds .

toddler in the seat of the Joolz Aer stroller

The seat uses a one-of-a-kind ergonomic seat designed to provide back and neck support to your little rider. It is very comfortable thanks to the padding in the seat and is very soft to the touch.

The seat is very roomy at a width of 15 inches wide and 22 inches tall seat back, and there are 25 inches from the seat to the canopy, ensuring your little rider, even at age 4, is not squished.

A feature I have grown to love is that the seat comes with a 5-point harness that is very easy to do up and undo, which is easy for parents but can become a problem as kids age and figure it out.

You can purchase a Joolz Aer bassinet so it is suitable for newborns or these car seat adapters .

Joolz Aer recline seat

What are the Seat Recline Options?

The seat recline is operated by unzipping the back, and then there is a small strap that you can tighten or loosen to adjust the recline. To recline and unrecline your child is slightly annoying, but you get used to it.

When you want to unrecline your child and have them sit back up, they have to sit forward so you can stick the extra fabric back in and zip it shut.

The recline is really with the new Aer+; it is nearly lay flat. In the photo above, this is the recline on the original Aer. When in recline mode, a strip allows ventilation to keep the baby cool, even on hot day trips.

Joolz Aer front of stroller with mom and daughter

The Aer features a large canopy that offers UPF 50+ protection. The canopy also has a ventilation mesh material on the fourth panel, allowing it to provide some airflow to the seat to keep your child cool on a hot summer’s day.

The canopy has three panels, but you can unzip it to have a fourth-panel offering even more shade coverage. The mesh offers the ability to see your child through the mesh.

If you are looking for the biggest canopy with the most coverage, I suggest the Zoe. I have the Zoe twin , and that XXL sun hood canopy is great for napping on the go. The Joolz Aer canopy does the job, but it is nothing compared to the Zoe stroller canopy.

Joolz Aer storage basket

I am actually impressed with how much storage the Aer has for being a compact stroller. A narrow storage pocket on the back of the seat is big enough to carry your keys, wallet, or cell phone. There is a basket under the seat for storage.

I would classify the storage basket as big for an umbrella stroller but small compared to everyday strollers, as it can only fit a medium-sized diaper bag. The storage shopping basket says a max weight of 11 lbs, but I know for sure I have had 20+ pounds of weight in there at times.

toddler pushing the Joolz Aer stroller

How is the Push?

It has an all-wheel suspension, allowing it to go over some terrain, such as mulch. However, it is predominantly meant to be on paved surfaces, making it perfect if you live in the city. You can push the stroller with only one hand as it is so easy to maneuver on most terrain.

The stroller has two 5-inch rubber wheels at the front that can be locked straight, or you can allow them to swivel. The back of the stroller has two 6-inch rear wheels that have an easy step-on break that is even flip-flop friendly, which is an important feature in my mind.

Does the Handlebar Adjust? Is it Good for Tall/Short Parents?

Let me start and say that I am 5’10, my husband is 6’5, and we have no complaints about the height of the handlebar.

The Joolz Aer offers a sleek design as it has a leatherette handlebar that does not adjust but is on the taller side at 41 inches from the ground, so even the tallest parents will find it comfortable. The handlebar is sturdy, and you can even hang a diaper bag off the handlebar.

Are there Cup Holders?

Joolz does not include cup holders, but you can purchase them as accessories. I have this one . It’s super cheap, can detach easily, and can be put on other strollers.

Joolz Aer folded in car

How Easy is the Assembly/Fold?

The stroller comes straight out of the travel bag, ready to use as there is no assembly required, which is amazing as sometimes assembling strollers can feel like you need an engineering degree.

I literally opened the box, and it was ready to go. Usually, I have to ask my husband for help, lol.

Joolz Aer Folding and Unfolding

It is the best foldable stroller available. It is soooo easy. I can hold my baby on my hip with one hand and fold the Aer with the other. In less than one second, it’s folded.

An added bonus is that the stroller includes an elastic strap so that you can carry it when folded down. I also have the Bugaboo Ant , which is also nice and compact, but the fold is very tricky. I replaced my Ant with the Aer.

The stroller can even be folded with the additional travel cot attached. It uses an innovative folding technique as the Aer cot collapses on itself to create a compact, easy-to-carry stroller that is great for travel. It is just as simple to unfold with one hand.

Does the Joolz Aer+ fold with a bumper bar – Yes, but you need to buy this bar .

Does the original Jooz Aer fold with a bumper bar – Yes, if you purchase the new version of the bumper bar here . No, if you have the old bumper bar.

I have the original Aer and the original bumper bar, and I used to have to take the bumper bar off every time when folding. It was SUPER annoying, but now with the release of the new Joolz Aer+, you can just purchase this bar and put it on the original Aer, and it folds with the bar on.

How Easy Is it to Clean?

The fabric is very easy to wipe the sticky messes off using just soap and water.

back of Joolz stroller

What is All Included?

Includes the following:

  • Rain Cover – only included in the original Aer. It is not included in the Aer+, I suggest buying this cheap universal rain cover it fits

Best Joolz Aer Accessories

I have all of the following Joolz Aer accessories and love them all. They all get used daily and serve a purpose.

  • Cup holder – This is a MUST.
  • Joolz Aer+ Bumper Bar – allows you to attach your child’s toys and provides extra safety.
  • Storage clips – Great to hook stroller bag/etc. See the picture below. The hooks can hold a Wayb Pico car seat , which is the best travel car seat.
  • Cheap rain cover – I suggest buying a cheap universal rain cover like thi s and saving $30 over buying the name-brand one. If it rains, most likely, you will be going inside sooner than later, so there is no need to spend $50 on a rain cover.
  • Portable white noise machine – I love this one because it is rechargeable, and the battery lasts all day.
  • Joolz Aer Bassinet – attach this cot to the stroller so that you can use it before six months of age, as your baby will enjoy the comfy flat, breathable mattress that allows the baby to lie flat. The cot also includes a ventilated canopy offering airflow and sun protection. The best part is it also folds right down for compact storage and does not need to be removed from the stroller.
  • Joolz Aer Leg rest – provides extra support for a more comfortable ride and has two different positions.
  • Joolz Aer Footboard – easily clicks onto the stroller and allows your toddler to ride or stand on the additional piece.

Is it Easy to Travel With by Car or Airplane?

We have extensively traveled with the Joolz Aer and have had no problems. As you can see in the above picture, I have a gate tag for a regional jet where it had to be gate-checked.

We’ve carried it on several flights, and it fits fine in the overhead bin. We even have cruised with it, taking it on several buses and boats where it fit under our seats. There is nothing but love for the Joolz Aer in our family.

Joolz Aer in overhead cabin storage on airplane

However, we did have to gate-check it on a regional flight, but you have to gate-check all rolled bags, too, so we expected this. It comes with a travel bag that fits it perfectly, but if you are like me and don’t always know where things are…We suggest this bag to protect it, and it did just fine being checked.

It was designed for travel, including a few design features: lightweight at only 13 pounds, compact enough to fit in an airline overhead bin, and a carry strap and a travel bag, making it easy to travel with the stroller.

As you can see in the photo above, we really loaded up our Aer on a recent trip. We needed to travel with the Wayb Pico travel car seat . The car seat was able to hook to the stroller!

Thank you so much for this article on the Joolz Aer and Joolz Aer+! In what airlines you couldn't fit the Joolz Aer into the airplane overhead compartment?

We just returned from another trip with the Joolz Aer on the plane in the overhead compartment. The only issue I have had is with small regional jets. I have taken it with me on board Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, Sun Country, and American Airlines.

The five-domed Cathedral of the Dormition is considered the most famous. It was built from 1475–1479 by an Italian architect and has served as a wedding and coronation place for great princes, tsars, and emperors of Russia. Church services are given in the Kremlin’s numerous cathedrals on a regular basis.

Whether you’re spending one day in Moscow, or more, safety is an important thing to keep in mind when traveling to a big city! Overall, Moscow is a very safe place to visit. However, it is always recommended that tourists take certain precautions when traveling to a new destination!

The police in Moscow is extremely effective at making the city a safe place to visit and do their best to patrol all of the top Moscow, Russia tourist attractions. However, tourists can still be a target for pickpockets and scammers.

Moscow has a huge flow of tourists, therefore there is a risk for pickpocketing. Simple precautions will help eliminate your chances of being robbed. Stay vigilant, keep your items close to you at all times, and don’t flash your valuables!

If you’re planning a solo Moscow itinerary, you should have no need to worry, as the city is also considered safe for solo travelers, even women. Stay in the populated areas, try and not travel alone late at night, and never accept rides from strangers or taxis without a meter and correct signage.

The threat of natural disasters in Moscow is low, with the exception of severe winters when the temperature can dip below freezing! Bring a good, warm jacket if you visit in Winter.

However, please note that Russian views on homsexuality are far less accepting than those in Western Europe. Likewise, Non-Caucasian travellers may sadly encounter racism in Russia .

Why travel to Moscow

Contrasts: 12th century monasteries and some of the tallest skyscrapers in Europe can be found side-by-side in this complex and captivating city. The diversity of this mega-city is astounding. Only a few steps away from the solemn red facade of the Kremlin and the sounds of righteous church bells, a buzzing night scene and alternative-fashion boutiques can be found.

Culture: In Moscow only the best goes. Be it a theatre, restaurant or gallery, the standards are certain to be world-class. The Bolshoi ballet company is reputed to be even better than the Mariinsky’s and “MMOMA” (Moscow’s museum of modern art) exhibits works of art as profound as any that could be found in the famed MOMA.

Convenience: Unlike the rest of Russia, it’s easy enough to get by with just English in Moscow and, driving excepted, it is surprisingly safe: the murder rate is lower than in some of America’s major cities.

Why visit Moscow

It would take more than two days to walk around the perimeter of the biggest city in Europe, Moscow. Many of its inhabitants barely know what’s beyond the few blocks around their flat and there are so many attractions that it’s almost impossible to know where to start. If there is such a thing as an antidote to boredom, Moscow City is it. The mind-boggling range and diversity of things to do, places to eat, parks, historical monuments and more means that a vacation in Moscow has a wealth of activities to offer for every type of traveler, from young families to retirees.

Reasons to Vacation in Moscow in 2022

The Bolshoi theatre is familiar to almost everyone as Russia’s grandest theatre, but what people don’t know is that there are many more bolshoi (big) sites in Moscow that are worth travelling all the way to Moscow to see. For more than 100 years, the world’s biggest bell has been hidden behind the Kremlin’s walls and inside Moscow’s main park (which is bigger than some countries!) there is the world’s largest outdoor ice-rink. Travelers that visit Moscow can stay at the Izmailovo, Europe’s biggest hotel, then eat at the largest and most historic McDonald’s in Europe and after that have fun at the largest European indoor theme park!

Ancient Past & Stunning Architecture:

As those who travel to Moscow will see, just because Moscow is a city of record-breaking, glitzy high-rises doesn’t mean that there is no history. On the famous Arbat street, time-worn, wooden storehouses and century-old churches are squashed up against grey, soviet blocks which are then towered over by 21st century office-blocks. Unlike its much younger sibling, St Petersburg, Moscow’s roots stretch way back to the 12th century. Within the walls of the Kremlin, the city’s oldest building the Cathedral of Assumption can be admired in all its 500+ years of age.

Culture & Convenience

For a foreigner who has never visited Russia, Moscow is the perfect stepping stone into this great land of mystery. From the country’s best classical ballet troupes to snow-white troikas trotting through the parks, all the highlights of Russian culture can be had in Moscow without any of the complications that would be expected in other, less developed regions of Russia.

Cheap as Caviar

In Moscow, everything is bargain when with the current foreign exchange rates being what they are. Even caviar doesn’t seem so dear when the exchange rate is at 60rub to the dollar, so go on indulge yourself! Take your 2022 vacation in Moscow and have the best of both worlds, with European luxury at very affordable prices.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

We had a great time both in Moscow and St Petersburg. Your travel agency was excellent in coordinating the whole trip. Everything worked like clockwork. The guides assigned to us were very nice and friendly. They had a great knowledge of their subjects. The cars and the drivers were great. The hotels were good and the itinerary was good. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. It was nice dealing with you and your company. Thank you very much for a great Russian experience. Have a great future ahead

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow: The Best of Moscow!

I just got back from one week in Moscow. And, as you might have already guessed, it was a mind-boggling experience. It was not my first trip to the Russian capital. But I hardly ever got enough time to explore this sprawling city. Visiting places for business rarely leaves enough time for sightseeing. I think that if you’ve got one week in Russia, you can also consider splitting your time between its largest cities (i.e. Saint Petersburg ) to get the most out of your trip. Seven days will let you see the majority of the main sights and go beyond just scratching the surface. In this post, I’m going to share with you my idea of the perfect travel itinerary for one week in Moscow.

Moscow is perhaps both the business and cultural hub of Russia. There is a lot more to see here than just the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Centuries-old churches with onion-shaped domes dotted around the city are in stark contrast with newly completed impressive skyscrapers of Moscow City dominating the skyline. I spent a lot of time thinking about my Moscow itinerary before I left. And this city lived up to all of my expectations.

7-day Moscow itinerary

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow

Day 1 – red square and the kremlin.

Metro Station: Okhotny Ryad on Red Line.

No trip to Moscow would be complete without seeing its main attraction. The Red Square is just a stone’s throw away from several metro stations. It is home to some of the most impressive architectural masterpieces in the city. The first thing you’ll probably notice after entering it and passing vendors selling weird fur hats is the fairytale-like looking Saint Basil’s Cathedral. It was built to commemorate one of the major victories of Ivan the Terrible. I once spent 20 minutes gazing at it, trying to find the perfect angle to snap it. It was easier said than done because of the hordes of locals and tourists.

As you continue strolling around Red Square, there’s no way you can miss Gum. It was widely known as the main department store during the Soviet Era. Now this large (yet historic) shopping mall is filled with expensive boutiques, pricey eateries, etc. During my trip to Moscow, I was on a tight budget. So I only took a retro-style stroll in Gum to get a rare glimpse of a place where Soviet leaders used to grocery shop and buy their stuff. In case you want some modern shopping experience, head to the Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center with stores like New Yorker, Zara, and Adidas.

Read Next: Things To Do on Socotra

To continue this Moscow itinerary, next you may want to go inside the Kremlin walls. This is the center of Russian political power and the president’s official residence. If you’re planning to pay Kremlin a visit do your best to visit Ivan the Great Bell Tower as well. Go there as early as possible to avoid crowds and get an incredible bird’s-eye view. There are a couple of museums that are available during designated visiting hours. Make sure to book your ticket online and avoid lines.

Day 2 – Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Arbat Street

Metro Station: Kropotkinskaya on Red Line

As soon as you start creating a Moscow itinerary for your second day, you’ll discover that there are plenty of metro stations that are much closer to certain sites. Depending on your route, take a closer look at the metro map to pick the closest.

The white marble walls of Christ the Saviour Cathedral are awe-inspiring. As you approach this tallest Orthodox Christian church, you may notice the bronze sculptures, magnificent arches, and cupolas that were created to commemorate Russia’s victory against Napoleon.

travel itinerary for one week in Moscow

How to Get a Decent Haircut in a Foreign Country

Unfortunately, the current Cathedral is a replica, since original was blown to bits in 1931 by the Soviet government. The new cathedral basically follows the original design, but they have added some new elements such as marble high reliefs.

Home to some precious collection of artworks, in Tretyakov Gallery you can find more than 150,000 of works spanning centuries of artistic endeavor. Originally a privately owned gallery, it now has become one of the largest museums in Russia. The Gallery is often considered essential to visit. But I have encountered a lot of locals who have never been there.

Famous for its souvenirs, musicians, and theaters, Arbat street is among the few in Moscow that were turned into pedestrian zones. Arbat street is usually very busy with tourists and locals alike. My local friend once called it the oldest street in Moscow dating back to 1493. It is a kilometer long walking street filled with fancy gift shops, small cozy restaurants, lots of cute cafes, and street artists. It is closed to any vehicular traffic, so you can easily stroll it with kids.

Day 3 – Moscow River Boat Ride, Poklonnaya Hill Victory Park, the Moscow City

Metro Station: Kievskaya and Park Pobedy on Dark Blue Line / Vystavochnaya on Light Blue Line

Voyaging along the Moscow River is definitely one of the best ways to catch a glimpse of the city and see the attractions from a bit different perspective. Depending on your Moscow itinerary, travel budget and the time of the year, there are various types of boats available. In the summer there is no shortage of boats, and you’ll be spoiled for choice.

exploring Moscow

Travel Itinerary for One Week in Beijing

If you find yourself in Moscow during the winter months, I’d recommend going with Radisson boat cruise. These are often more expensive (yet comfy). They offer refreshments like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and, of course, alcoholic drinks. Prices may vary but mostly depend on your food and drink selection. Find their main pier near the opulent Ukraine hotel . The hotel is one of the “Seven Sisters”, so if you’re into the charm of Stalinist architecture don’t miss a chance to stay there.

The area near Poklonnaya Hill has the closest relation to the country’s recent past. The memorial complex was completed in the mid-1990s to commemorate the Victory and WW2 casualties. Also known as the Great Patriotic War Museum, activities here include indoor attractions while the grounds around host an open-air museum with old tanks and other vehicles used on the battlefield.

How I Planned My Trip to Vietnam

The hallmark of the memorial complex and the first thing you see as you exit metro is the statue of Nike mounted to its column. This is a very impressive Obelisk with a statue of Saint George slaying the dragon at its base.

Maybe not as impressive as Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower , the skyscrapers of the Moscow City (otherwise known as Moscow International Business Center) are so drastically different from dull Soviet architecture. With 239 meters and 60 floors, the Empire Tower is the seventh highest building in the business district.

The observation deck occupies 56 floor from where you have some panoramic views of the city. I loved the view in the direction of Moscow State University and Luzhniki stadium as well to the other side with residential quarters. The entrance fee is pricey, but if you’re want to get a bird’s eye view, the skyscraper is one of the best places for doing just that.

Day 4 – VDNKh, Worker and Collective Farm Woman Monument, The Ostankino TV Tower

Metro Station: VDNKh on Orange Line

VDNKh is one of my favorite attractions in Moscow. The weird abbreviation actually stands for Russian vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy). With more than 200 buildings and 30 pavilions on the grounds, VDNKh serves as an open-air museum. You can easily spend a full day here since the park occupies a very large area.

Moscow sights

Places to Visit in Barcelona That Aren’t Beaches

First, there are pavilions that used to showcase different cultures the USSR was made of. Additionally, there is a number of shopping pavilions, as well as Moskvarium (an Oceanarium) that features a variety of marine species. VDNKh is a popular venue for events and fairs. There is always something going on, so I’d recommend checking their website if you want to see some particular exhibition.

A stone’s throw away from VDNKh there is a very distinctive 25-meters high monument. Originally built in 1937 for the world fair in Paris, the hulking figures of men and women holding a hammer and a sickle represent the Soviet idea of united workers and farmers. It doesn’t take much time to see the monument, but visiting it gives some idea of the Soviet Union’s grandiose aspirations.

I have a thing for tall buildings. So to continue my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow I decided to climb the fourth highest TV tower in the world. This iconic 540m tower is a fixture of the skyline. You can see it virtually from everywhere in Moscow, and this is where you can get the best panoramic views (yep, even better than Empire skyscraper).

top things to do in Moscow

Parts of the floor are made of tempered glass, so it can be quite scary to exit the elevator. But trust me, as you start observing buildings and cars below, you won’t want to leave. There is only a limited number of tickets per day, so you may want to book online. Insider tip: the first tour is cheaper, you can save up to $10 if go there early.

Day 5 – A Tour To Moscow Manor Houses

Metro Station: Kolomenskoye, Tsaritsyno on Dark Green Line / Kuskovo on Purple Line

I love visiting the manor houses and palaces in Moscow. These opulent buildings were generally built to house Russian aristocratic families and monarchs. Houses tend to be rather grand affairs with impressive architecture. And, depending on the whims of the owners, some form of a landscaped garden.

During the early part of the 20th century though, many of Russia’s aristocratic families (including the family of the last emperor) ended up being killed or moving abroad . Their manor houses were nationalized. Some time later (after the fall of the USSR) these were open to the public. It means that today a great many of Moscow’s finest manor houses and palaces are open for touring.

one week Moscow itinerary

20 Travel Tips I’ve Learned From Travelling The World

There are 20 manor houses scattered throughout the city and more than 25 in the area around. But not all of them easily accessible and exploring them often takes a lot of time. I’d recommend focusing on three most popular estates in Moscow that are some 30-minute metro ride away from Kremlin.

Sandwiched between the Moscow River and the Andropov Avenue, Kolomenskoye is a UNESCO site that became a public park in the 1920’s. Once a former royal estate, now it is one of the most tranquil parks in the city with gorgeous views. The Ascension Church, The White Column, and the grounds are a truly grand place to visit.

You could easily spend a full day here, exploring a traditional Russian village (that is, in fact, a market), picnicking by the river, enjoying the Eastern Orthodox church architecture, hiking the grounds as well as and wandering the park and gardens with wildflower meadows, apple orchards, and birch and maple groves. The estate museum showcases Russian nature at its finest year-round.

12 Stunning National Parks and Regional Parks In France

If my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow was a family tree, Tsaritsyno Park would probably be the crazy uncle that no-one talks about. It’s a large park in the south of the city of mind-boggling proportions, unbelievable in so many ways, and yet most travelers have never heard of it.

The palace was supposed to be a summer home for Empress Catherine the Great. But since the construction didn’t meet with her approval the palace was abandoned. Since the early 1990’s the palace, the pond, and the grounds have been undergoing renovations. The entire complex is now looking brighter and more elaborately decorated than at possibly any other time during its history. Like most parks in Moscow, you can visit Tsaritsyno free of charge, but there is a small fee if you want to visit the palace.

Moscow itinerary

How To Stop Procrastinating When Trip Planning

Last, but by no means least on my Moscow itinerary is Kuskovo Park . This is definitely an off-the-beaten-path place. While it is not easily accessible, you will be rewarded with a lack of crowds. This 18th-century summer country house of the Sheremetev family was one of the first summer country estates of the Russian nobility. And when you visit you’ll quickly realize why locals love this park.

Like many other estates, Kuskovo has just been renovated. So there are lovely French formal garden, a grotto, and the Dutch house to explore. Make sure to plan your itinerary well because the estate is some way from a metro station.

Day 6 – Explore the Golden Ring

Creating the Moscow itinerary may keep you busy for days with the seemingly endless amount of things to do. Visiting the so-called Golden Ring is like stepping back in time. Golden Ring is a “theme route” devised by promotion-minded journalist and writer Yuri Bychkov.

Having started in Moscow the route will take you through a number of historical cities. It now includes Suzdal, Vladimir, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Sergiev Posad. All these awe-inspiring towns have their own smaller kremlins and feature dramatic churches with onion-shaped domes, tranquil residential areas, and other architectural landmarks.

Two Weeks In Thailand: The Perfect 14-Day Itinerary

I only visited two out of eight cities included on the route. It is a no-brainer that Sergiev Posad is the nearest and the easiest city to see on a day trip from Moscow. That being said, you can explore its main attractions in just one day. Located some 70 km north-east of the Russian capital, this tiny and overlooked town is home to Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, UNESCO Site.

things to do in Moscow in seven days

You Will Also Like: 3-Day London Itinerary

Sergiev Posad is often described as being at the heart of Russian spiritual life. So it is uncommon to see the crowds of Russian pilgrims showing a deep reverence for their religion. If you’re traveling independently and using public transport, you can reach Sergiev Posad by bus (departs from VDNKh) or by suburban commuter train from Yaroslavskaya Railway Station (Bahnhof). It takes about one and a half hours to reach the town.

Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is a great place to get a glimpse of filling and warming Russian lunch, specifically at the “ Gostevaya Izba ” restaurant. Try the duck breast, hearty potato and vegetables, and the awesome Napoleon cake.

Day 7 – Gorky Park, Izmailovo Kremlin, Patriarch’s Ponds

Metro Station: Park Kultury or Oktyabrskaya on Circle Line / Partizanskaya on Dark Blue Line / Pushkinskaya on Dark Green Line

Gorky Park is in the heart of Moscow. It offers many different types of outdoor activities, such as dancing, cycling, skateboarding, walking, jogging, and anything else you can do in a park. Named after Maxim Gorky, this sprawling and lovely park is where locals go on a picnic, relax and enjoy free yoga classes. It’s a popular place to bike around, and there is a Muzeon Art Park not far from here. A dynamic location with a younger vibe. There is also a pier, so you can take a cruise along the river too.

Random Russian guy

How to Save Money While Traveling in Europe

The Kremlin in Izmailovo is by no means like the one you can find near the Red Square. Originally built for decorative purposes, it now features the Vernissage flea market and a number of frequent fairs, exhibitions, and conferences. Every weekend, there’s a giant flea market in Izmailovo, where dozens of stalls sell Soviet propaganda crap, Russian nesting dolls, vinyl records, jewelry and just about any object you can imagine. Go early in the morning if you want to beat the crowds.

All the Bulgakov’s fans should pay a visit to Patriarch’s Ponds (yup, that is plural). With a lovely small city park and the only one (!) pond in the middle, the location is where the opening scene of Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita was set. The novel is centered around a visit by Devil to the atheistic Soviet Union is considered by many critics to be one of the best novels of the 20th century. I spent great two hours strolling the nearby streets and having lunch in the hipster cafe.

Conclusion and Recommendations

To conclude, Moscow is a safe city to visit. I have never had a problem with getting around and most locals are really friendly once they know you’re a foreigner. Moscow has undergone some serious reconstruction over the last few years. So you can expect some places to be completely different. I hope my one week Moscow itinerary was helpful! If you have less time, say 4 days or 5 days, I would cut out day 6 and day 7. You could save the Golden Ring for a separate trip entirely as there’s lots to see!

I know very little about Moscow or Russia for the\at matter. I do know I would have to see the Red Square and all of its exquisite architectural masterpieces. Also the CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE SAVIOUR. Thanks for shedding some light on visiting Moscow.

Thanks for swinging by! The Red Square is a great starting point, but there way too many places and things to discover aside from it!
