The trail leads to the lower falls as well as nearby shops and restaurants. Other attractions, such as shopping mecca River Park Square, surround the park, making it a great place to enjoy both the city’s natural beauty and its vast entertainment options.

Manito Park

If you haven't figured it out already, Spokane is a great place to enjoy green spaces. Another popular destination is Manito Park in the city's South Hill neighborhood. The 90-acre property attracts more than 150,000 visitors each year to its five gardens, duck pond, and conservatory.

Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture

The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC) attracts over 100,000 visitors annually and centers on the Inland Northwest people. MAC is also proud to possess the world's largest collection of Plateau Indian art.

Events and Entertainment in Spokane

Spokane doesn't have any major league teams, but it does have the Spokane Chiefs, a major junior ice hockey team that's part of the Western Hockey League. They play their home games at the Spokane arena. There’s also the Spokane Indians, a minor league baseball team. 

If you’re not content being a spectator, you can take part in one of the city's top recreational events: Bloomsday. The 12K course attracts over 50,000 runners, walkers, wheelchair-bound participants, and children competitors each May. The course starts and ends in the downtown area near Riverfront Park and provides scenic views of the Spokane River.

Alternatively, you can watch or join June's Hoopfest in which 6,200 teams play 14,000 games of three-on-three basketball. The event has been dubbed the "greatest weekend of basketball on earth" and is a can't-miss event if you love playing or watching hoops.

ArtFest, Bazaar, and Terrain

The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture hosts the juried art fair ArtFest in Coeur d’Alene Park every year. Kids can make their own artwork, and adults can take advantage of the beer garden. There's also a variety of live music performances, including rock, Latin, big band, and folk.

Another great place to buy handmade goods, listen to good music, and enjoy some tasty food is at Bazaar. The summer event takes place in the downtown area and draws over 20,000 visitors. It's a nice marketplace to buy jewelry, ceramics, clothing, accessories, and more for yourself or your friends and family.

Terrain takes place on the first Friday in October. It’s a one-night juried art and music event for local artists. Hundreds of artists participate, and thousands of art lovers attend the cultural event, which also features poetry, film, and other types of media.

Volume Inlander Music Festival

This festival is sponsored by the city's independent newspaper,   The Inlander. It features 100 bands at nine different venues, including one outdoors. Local and regional acts of various genres join together for one magical musical weekend. Most of the bands have a connection to Spokane in some way, which makes it a truly homegrown event.

Most venues are open to music lovers of all ages. You can purchase a bus wristband that makes it easy to travel from one stage to another, plus you don't have to worry about the number of cocktails you consume. The event also donates some of its proceeds to another event, Terrain, which we mentioned above.

• North Spokane RV Campground

North Spokane RV Campground is close to downtown Spokane and is within walking distance to a variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. The campground is also in close proximity to several lakes and other recreational areas, so you can spend your days hiking, boating, and fishing.

Campground amenities include Wi-Fi, cable TV, a dog park, a playground, private bathhouses and showers, a seasonal swimming pool, a laundry facility, a dump station, and a propane fill station. The RV park accommodates big rigs, has large concrete pull-through sites, 20/30/50-amp service, and sewer and water hookups.

Trailer Inns RV of Spokane

Trailer Inns of Spokane is a great place to stay if you plan on visiting the regional wineries and golf courses or want to try horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and boating. Area attractions include the Cat Tales Zoological Park and Walk & Wild Zoo, the Greyhound Park and Events Center, the Spokane Raceway Park, and several casinos, such as the Coeur D'Alene Casino.

The RV park has pull-through sites with full hookups and trees for shade. There is 15-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical service as well as free Wi-Fi. Other amenities include a playground, clubhouse, game room, laundry facilities, and a propane fill station. The park is also pet-friendly.

Peaceful Pines RV Park & Campground

Peaceful Pines RV Park & Campground is located 17 miles from Spokane in Cheney, Washington. The park has 28 sites, including some with 50-amp hook-ups. Amenities include Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a community room, an air hockey table, and newly renovated restrooms and showers.

There are several lakes in the area, which are great fishing spots. Fish Lake in particular is one popular destination that's open for swimming, fishing, and paddleboarding. If you're looking for a peaceful place to stay while you're exploring greater Spokane's museums and other attractions, Peaceful Pines is a great place in which to lay your head down at night.

• Riverside State Park

Riverside State Park is just nine miles from Spokane in the community of Nine Mile Falls. Historically, the park was used as a meeting place for Native American tribes and was once a focal point of the fur trade. 

Outdoorsmen love it for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and horseback riding. It has 55 miles of trails as well as special terrain geared towards off-road vehicles. If you enjoy playing in the water, check out the Little Spokane River and Lake Spokane, which are perfect for paddlesports, boating, angling, and other types of recreation. 

There are also four different campgrounds at Riverside State Park, including Bowl and Pitcher campground, which has 16 partial-hookup sites, a dump station, restrooms, and showers.

Forest River Wildwood

This 23 foot travel trailer is ideal for a couple or small family who is ready to start their RV adventure in the camping world. The Forest River Wildwood Travel Trailer features a rear U-dinette as well as a front sofa with a Murphy bed behind.

As you enter this RV, along the front of the trailer you will find a jack knife sofa with nightstands and wardrobes on either side. At night easily set up the Murphy bed for the perfect sleeping spot.

Along the door side is where you will find the kitchen. There is a double sink for easy clean up, and a three burner range. Above you will find an overhead cabinet for dishes, as well as an entertainment center. Across from the entertainment center there is a refrigerator, and a pantry..

The side aisle bathroom features a tub, sink, handy medicine cabinet, and a toilet.

Along the rear there is a U-dinette where you can enjoy your meals and snacks throughout the day. At night convert the dinette into additional sleeping space. On either side of the dinette there are counter tops, and so much more!

This unit sleeps 4, and offers a 16 foot awning!

Play in the splash down water fountain to cool off on a warm summer day. If you are there at the right time, you can enjoy the many festivals and celebrations that take place right there in the park. If you are feeling brave, visit the old Greenwood Cemetery and gaze on the "Thousand Steps" staircase that many believe to be haunted, not unlike many areas of the eerie graveyard. Stroll through the endless gardens of Manito Park, where you'll find 90 acres of beauty. While there, be sure to see the Duncan Gardens, the Rose Garden, the Perennials Garden, the Lilac Garden and the Japanese Garden. There is also a Duck Pond and a children's playground, complete with a large picnic area.

For a fun day trip, point your rental RV east on I-90 and head towards Idaho's Coeur d'Alene. It's a short, 30-minute trip, and well worth the time. The entire town is surrounded by lakes (55 of them) that were formed by glaciers during the ice age. No lake compares to Lake Coeur d'Alene, however. There is something quite magical about this 70-mile long lake. Visit the beach that lies between the lake and one of the prettiest parks you'll ever find. It's all beside the incomparable Coeur d'Alene Resort and Marina. Downtown offers a host of quaint shops, where you will find a wide variety of items and goods for sale. Take part in the weekly farmers market and take home some of the local Idaho produce, flowers, crafts and goodies that are sold there.

For a healthy dose of the outdoor life, visit the Mount Spokane State Park. It's only a 45-minute trip from Spokane via I-90 E and WA-206 E. This is a camping park that spans nearly 14,000 acres in the Selkirk Mountains. You will enjoy the view from the top of the 5,883-foot lookout, where you can actually enjoy spectacular views of Washington, Idaho and Montana, as well as Canada. If you're there in the winter, there is a full lineup of alpine winter recreation, including snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. For fun in higher temperatures from spring to fall, enjoy the horseback riding, biking and hiking trails. You can go berry picking as you sightsee.
