What is HYBE Insight?
HYBE Insight is a multiplex cultural space in the Yongsan district of Seoul commemorating HYBE’s music and artists. It allows visitors to experience music through their five senses by redefining art and music. It takes up the two basement floors of the current HYBE headquarters.

This visual exhibition of HYBE’s magical as well as musical success is displayed in 5,000 square feet of area and was opened for public view from 14 May 2020. The exhibit emphasizes the company’s mission statement – “We Believe In Music.”
A similar project was taken up by SM Town, one of the biggest entertainment companies in the Korean music industry, to promote K-pop and its artists in 2018. This project led to opening of the SM Town Museum at COEX Atrium in Gangnam district, which is very popular among the youths.
HYBE Insight’s Interiors
HYBE Insight is majorly sectioned into three key spaces – sound, movement, and story. As you first walk in, you will notice the music. That is where they started off initially, and their focus and priority remain the same despite their transformation of entertainment to the platform.
Sound Layer
“Sound Layer” is the most attractive section as it allows the visitors to listen to a particular song in different layers of sound. It is famous among the BTS fandom, who line up to listen to “Fake Love” by global artists.
Dynamic Movement
In the middle of the second floor is the “Dynamic Movement,” where choreographed moves are portrayed to express music and communicate with the public. Choreographies of K-pop groups like BTS, GFRIEND, and NU’EST are reconstructed and displayed on surround screens.
Inspiring Story
The “Inspiring Story” section holds up interviews with artists on their mindset and thoughts about the lyrics of their songs. There are 3D maps and pop-up books, but they fail to convey the overwhelming and mesmerizing energy that the various artists directly convey under the label.
The two separate sections of the museum are connected by the display of HYBE history and trophies placed on a twenty-eight-foot pedestal. HYBE artists’ costumes, accessories, and souvenirs are also put up at the display. The other section begins with the display of “Seven Phases,” an art piece by James Jean. It is followed by another art piece named “Garden,” which was inspired by the lyrics – “A flower resembling you that bloomed in the garden of loneliness” from the song “The Truth Untold.”
The “Resonance” section is a soundproof space allowing us to immerse ourselves into surrounding music and sound. It is meant to help us to appreciate the power and meaning of music by experiencing in a completely silent atmosphere with just the sound of our own breathing. The two-hour tour ends with a ten-minute interview video of artists called “Music is My Life.” They talk about their stories, music perspectives, and a message on the wall, “Imagine A World Without Music!”
This exhibit allows us to enjoy music with a wider sense and density, serving as a paradise for BTS fans, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, SEVENTEEN, and many more. It provides the visitors a closer look into how artists under HYBE Labels create and perform their music.
Fans can use their full senses to experience the communication, inspiration, and resonate through this project. It teaches us that music has grown and brought us together. Any number of hours tour will feel short when it comes to exploring the wonderful space of HYBE Insight. Visiting HYBE Insight is highly recommended for all K-pop fans and thosewho wish to dive into the world of K-Pop.

HYBE Insight, K-pop museum wonderland, is now open
The ″HYBE Music″ section is a room with light projected onto the walls, ceiling and floor, to give an overwhelming visual experience as if stepping into a whole new digital world. A 7-minute video on the history of HYBE and its artists is played, during which an 8.5-meter- (28-foot)-high wall filled with trophies earned by HYBE’s artists is lighted. [HYBE]

In a painting titled “Garden” by James Jean, the members of BTS have been depicted as nymphs in a garden that give life to and console the hearts of visitors. The painting, as well as others by Jean, is on display at a section of the museum titled ″Seven Phases.″ [HYBE]
“Seven Phases” is a section filled with works of art by esteemed illustrator James Jean that have been inspired by BTS and its seven members. There are seven woodcarving installations and seven illustration pieces that symbolize each member. [HYBE]
The exhibition ends with “Music is My Life,” a 10-minute video consisting of interviews from HYBE’s artists who each talk about their own stories of music. [HYBE]

SEOUL — On two underground floors of the new HYBE headquarters in the Yongsan district, a new museum dedicated to K-pop opened to the public last month. The 50,000-square-foot space is a visual exhibition of the musical successes that built HYBE, formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment, the company synonymous with superstar boy band BTS .
See latest videos, charts and news
This was not the first attempt at representation of K-pop in a form of exhibition. In 2018, SM Town opened its own SM Town Museum at Coex Artium in the heart of Gangnam to showcase the history of its artists from their debut to current successes in addition to the exhibition of costumes and props used in their performances. Fans could also participate in VR experiences to virtually meet their favorite artists, which all contributed to the growing popularity of the museum among international fans visiting Korea.
BTS' 'Butter' on a Roll, Spends Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100
Trending on billboard.
Two weeks after its opening, I decided to let myself explore the new HYBE establishment. My first impression was that a tremendous amount of effort was put in to truly embrace its identity as a museum while still maintaining the traditional spirit of K-pop museums, which focused on offering a variety of experiences to K-pop fans. Basically, you can tell that HYBE has put a lot of thought into turning their acts, including BTS and ENHYPEN, into something that could be exhibited for visitors to engage in and experience.
As soon as you walk in, the first thing you’ll notice is music. It’s obvious they are trying to convey the message that music is where they started and it will continue to be their main focus despite their recent transformation to a platform company by eliminating the word “entertainment” from the original corporate name. The museum is sectioned into three key spaces: Sound, Movement and Story. “Sound Layer” is the most popular space, as fans can listen to a particular song in different layers of sounds here. At any time of the day, you will see long lines of fans waiting to listen to BTS’ “Fake Love.”
In the middle of the second floor underground, you walk into a captivating space called “Dynamic Movement” where dance movements are portrayed as a way of expressing music and communicating with the public. Choreographies of HYBE’s BTS, NU’EST and GFRIEND are reconstructed to the music of unique artists such as DJ Dguru. Standing in the middle, surrounded by huge screens on which the dance videos are played, was an overwhelming experience, and I saw many others just as mesmerized as me and watching the fascinating dance videos repeatedly.
“Inspiring Story” is where many interesting exhibitions can be enjoyed in one space — interviews with artists on their thoughts about the lyrics of their songs and visualized pieces created by various artists groups such as Sunny Studio. There are also a three-dimensional map and pop-up books that have been transformed from HYBE’s “A Flower for Love” and “The Queen’s Knight,” which have been loved for their unique world views. Despite the diverse attempts at visualizing stories, they fell short of the overwhelming sense of energy that the artists directly convey through their movements.
The two separate sections of the museum are connected by a dramatic display of the history of HYBE and all the trophies their artists have won. The long path HYBE has walked on is integrated with the corporate philosophy and made into a video, and the best part is when a spotlight is turned on the wall display full of trophies. The impressive array of 180 trophies won at some of the most prestigious music shows, including Billboard Music Awards, MAMA and Korean Music Awards, were enough to wow the visitors.
Leaving visitors’ cheers behind, I move on to continue the exploration on the first floor underground, where the exhibition begins with “SEVEN PHASES,” an art piece by Taiwanese-American artist James Jean. After passing through BTS-inspired character drawings portraying members as the spirits of flowers and another unique piece named “Garden” inspired by the “Universal Truth” lyrics “A flower resembling you that bloomed in the garden of loneliness,” a complete hands-on experience awaits the visitors where they can extensively engage in HYBE music with all five senses. Visitors can also enjoy the display of HYBE artists’ costumes, accessories and souvenirs, as well as an augmented-reality game where they are divided into two teams and participate in the game. This can be a love it or hate it activity depending on the person, but it definitely adds fun elements to the whole experience at the museum. Even so, the most popular photo spot out of all these unique spaces is by the picture in a frame designed to celebrate BTS’ “Dynamite” hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
A two-hour tour seems too short when the exhibition ends with videos playing the artists’ interviews and “Resonance,” a completely sound-proof space where you can completely immerse yourself into the surrounding music and sound. The interview videos are edited with style and show the artists’ genuine characters, but the most memorable moment out of the entire tour has to be in “Resonance” where you can explore the complete silence and tranquility, which is a rare experience that can resonate for days to come. It’s the moment where people who meet through music get to be genuinely serious with music in a space that’s filled with silence. “What if there was no music in the world?” is written on the wall and it suddenly seemed like a very different question after the exhibition.
The music in us has grown and brought all of us here.

We are so excited to share with you our visit to HYBE Insight. Formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment, HYBE opened a multiplex exhibition space in May to celebrate its artists, their music, and their fans. HYBE Insight features a museum and cultural exhibition space on the two basement floors of its new headquarters in Seoul. This place is a must for fans of HYBE's artists - BTS , Tomorrow X Today, Enhypen, NU'EST, Seventeen, and GFriend. Let's go check it out!
NOTICE: HYBE Insight is currently closed long-term with no information on when or if it will open again.
Official HYBE Insight Site
This is the entrance to HYBE Insight. In order to visit the museum, be sure to make a reservation via HYBE Insight's website where you can log into your Weverse account. Before your visit, you will need to download their app, HYBE Insight. As soon as you make a reservation, it will link to the app. You can then show your QR Key via the app at the entrance.
After walking down the entrance, you'll see a place where you can store your umbrella if it's raining.
Each cubby has its own lock combination, so you won't have to worry about someone grabbing your umbrella by mistake.
Lockers are also available for visitors who would like to store their belongings during their visit.
Let's start our tour!
If you bought a photo ticket like we did, you can pick it up here.
We made sure to have our QR Key via the HYBE Insight app ready to scan.
When you purchase your ticket via the HYBE Insight app, you can pick from an array of photo tickets available.
We were so glad that we got these!
Aren't they so cute?!
After picking up our photo tickets, we made our way to the waiting area.
A staff member welcomed us and explained to us how to access the museum.
They also shared with us that filming inside the museum was not allowed and that we could only take pictures in specified areas.
Afterwards, we received a notification from our HYBE Insight app letting us know that we could enter the museum.
The staff asked us to line up in groups and gave each group member a specific colored bag.
We got dark purple!
In case we got separated from our group, we could easily spot other members from our group and join them again.
There is a map of the museum available on the HYBE Insight app.
There are also physical maps posted all over the museum in English, so feel free to get lost and explore.
Since we weren't allowed to take pictures on the first floor, we'll show you footage from the HYBE Insight app and HYBE's social media accounts.
Be sure to bring your earphones because on the Docent mode in the app, you can listen to your favorite HYBE artist's description of each zone.
We picked RM from BTS!
In Talkback and Finding Sound, we learned more about the artists and their process for making music.
These zones covered this entire process and gave us insight into how artists and producers work together to create music.
Source: Youtube @Kpop Herald
In Studio 360, we explored what the studios of famous producers such as Pdogg and Bumzu look like.
We also got a 360 view of the working spaces of RM, Suga, and JHope from BTS.
We were able to experience these studios in a such a real and dynamic way.
It was fun to see not only all the toys and trinkets in these spaces but also the different types of instruments used to make music.
For anyone who's curious about what HYBE's studios are like, Studio 360 is a must.
This is the Sound Layers zone.
This zone is really cool because you can listen to every vocal and instrumental layer of a song separately.
We really got an understanding of how songs are made and recorded.
These zones, Moving Body and In Motion, were our favorites.
The videos here gave us a clear view of each dance step that HYBE artists take to create their unique and dynamic choreography.
Because there is no music or special effects accompanying the videos, you can really focus in on the artists' dancing.
We could really see how each artist has their own style when it comes to dancing and interpreting the choreography.
We think that HYBE fans will really enjoy this zone, Inspiring Story.
Whenever a new song by your favorite artist comes out, do you wonder what the inspiration behind this song is or start analyzing its connection to previous songs?
This zone will answer all of these wonderings.
These giant storyboards gave us a detailed look into what inspires the artists when creating music.
There are various installations that you can engage with and look at.
For anyone who loves to hear directly from the artists, the Between the Lines zone is a must!
We listened to interviews with our favorite artists via telephones.
It felt like we were just having a conversation with them on the phone !
In the Behind the Sweat zone, we got a front row seat to the artists' dance practices.
We could really see how hard artists work to perfect their dancing and bring the choreography to life.
We got to see the different mics that our favorite artists use when they perform live.
We loved how bright and unique each of these mics were.
Afterwards, a staff member asked the visitors to gather in front of a giant screen that showed videos of ENHYPEN.
The screen then split in two and opened into the next zone, Story.
It was so cool!
This is considered the ultimate highlight of the museum.
The story of HYBE and its artists is told here.
We were so moved by this particular installation.
It showcased all of the awards HYBE and its artists have won.
It was really touching, especially when we saw the Billboard Music Awards!
Photos aren't allowed to be taken in this zone.
But we wanted to show you some pics of BTS posing in front of this installation.
You can see just how big this installation is!
We finally made it to the designated areas where we could take pictures!
Please keep in mind that you can only take photos in these areas; video recording isn't allowed.
This a special exhibition of paintings called Seven Phases by James Jean.
RM of BTS is a fan of James Jean's work, and these paintings were inspired by BTS and their music.
There is a even a painting based on RM's song, "moonchild."
All of the pieces were vibrant and full of color.
We thought that the artist captured the spirit of BTS in a dreamy and playful way.
You can watch an interview with James Jean regarding his process in creating these pieces.
This exhibition will be available until November 14, 2021.
After Seven Phases, we ventured on to Ways of Listening.
There is an augmented reality (AR) game that you can play in this zone via the HYBE Insight app.
If you find all of the treasures, you'll get a prize, so everyone was super focused on winning the game .
It's really easy to play.
Each item that you need to find has a clue.
You just follow the clue, and once you find it, you use the app to "collect" these items.
Make sure you find each clue quickly though because there is a time limit!
After playing the game, be sure to check out Story Collage.
These collages capture of the essence of each artist and the different album concepts they've had over the years.
Looking at these collages reminded us of the first Kpop albums that we ever bought.
This part of the exhibit is called Beat Challenge, and it's really fun and interactive.
You have to match the beat to the songs on display.
We totally nailed this!
This game is similar to playing Superstar on your phone, but there is a big screen across from you and five smaller screens in front of you.
After we finished the challenge, our score came up on the big screen.
Our score was actually pretty low. Haha!
We still had fun playing this.
There were video installations to check out as well.
They even told you the perfect place to stand to maximize this experience!
This statue resembles the shape of a sound wave.
Be sure to take a picture here like Suga and Jimin did.
We tried to recreate their picture!
This zone is where we can feel the music through our five senses.
For Jungkook's "Euphoria", the scent of fresh flowers filled this area.
Here you can see performance outfits worn by the artists.
We were so stoked to see this outfit worn by BTS!
Rings worn by SEVENTEEN were on display here.
We thought this was such a cool way to display these rings.
These are performance outfits worn by NU'EST for "I'm in Trouble."
We loved being able to see the details of these outfits up close.
Various news and magazine articles written about HYBE artists are on display here, too.
In this room, Sound and Image, you can watch music videos of different artists.
The sound quality in this room was really nice.
In Let's Move, you can experience songs through physical movement.
After the song is over, you can send a video of this experience to yourself as a souvenir.
All you need to do is scan the QR code available in this zone.
This next area, Face of Music, is where we could see images of the artists at HYBE.
We found the inspiration for our photo ticket of RM!
All the images on display in this area were beautiful.
It was so much fun looking at all of these photos from different angles.
Storytelling Diorama is another fun zone.
We watched scenes from music videos and learned more about the details of these scenes.
This zone, Silence, was inspired by the soundproofing equipment that keeps outside noise from coming into a studio.
This equipment also helps magnify any sound that is created inside a recording studio.
This is the final room, where a video was projected onto three of its walls.
There was a socially distance seat for each visitor.
This video showed interviews with artists about their journey in becoming Kpop idols.
They shared moments of hardship, stress, and happiness.
We were incredibly moved by each artist's personal story.
This really made us appreciate that much more the incredible work these artists put into creating music.
After the video, we made our way to an area that showcased every album ever released by a HYBE artist.
Be sure to take a photo in front of your favorite artist's album!
And now for the HYBE Insight shop!
Don't forget to collect your prize from the AR game!
Just scan the QR code at the AR Together Rewards kiosk.
We got HYBE bracelets!
Here is some of the merchandise, which includes photo cards, postcards, posters.
It all looked amazing!
There was HYBE gear available, too, like t-shirts, hoodies, and cross bags.
There was also HYBE stationery and phone accessories on sale.
You could also purchase the Euphoria scent.
This is the Upcycling Lab, which sells items made from clothing worn by the artists.
What an amazing idea!
Eggs tarts were available for purchase.
You can buy four for 9,800 KRW.
There were three flavors: original, apple cinnamon, and red bean and walnut.
Drinks were also available for purchase.
We got Sound Herb and Pop Grey, which were both teas.
Sound Herb was fruity while Pop Grey was sweet.
After getting your shopping on, don't miss the Life Goes On Lounge.
This space is a snapshot from a scene in the "Life Goes On" music video by BTS.
This is where you can exit the museum.
Just use scan your QR code to open the gate.
We were so sad to go!
We were so impressed with HYBE Insight!
So much work went into creating this space, and we appreciated the incredible care and energy that went into every detail.
Please note that all of the signs and explanations in the museum are available in both Korean and English.

My Visit to HYBE Insight in Seoul
Here's a brief recap of my personal experience at HYBE Insight in Seoul, Korea - an absolute must-visit for any lover of art, music, dance, K-pop, and definitely for any fan of BTS .
So, I had to go check it out.
HYBE recently built a massively large building in the Yongsan district of downtown Seoul.
Big Hit, once a tiny label, who became successful because they valued originality and creativity (aka: BTS ) - has since transitioned into HYBE - now a musical powerhouse that continues to acquire new talent around the world and pretty much just utterly dominate the entire music industry in Korea, and, the world.
In homage of the insane scale of their success, HYBE has built an entire museum dedicated to their artists and, like everything else they do - it is beyond impressive.
The museum encompasses two entire basement floors of the HYBE building.
It's like entering an underground bunker full of magic.
Then, most everything actually inside HYBE Insight is on a very serious lockdown.
Photography is extremely limited, videography is banned, and you can't screenshot anything in the app either.
If you're dying for more tea, they post some pics on Twitter, but personally, I'd recommend going and being surprised.
There is so much packed into this place - it truly must be experienced in person.
Photos just do not do it justice.
So, here are some of my very favorite parts (where photos were allowed).
The museum boasts an entirely multi-sensory experience to fully envelop you into the art of creating and experiencing music.
There are sound vibrations to touch and feel.. music to hear... art, dance, and photography to see.. food and drinks to taste... and this super interesting room dedicated purely to scent.
This room is delicately created in honor of the song Euphoria, with muted flowers and greens hanging from the ceiling, and putty-like grey walls adorned with inverted holes filled with a fresh, flowery fragrance to smell.
It is ethereal and other-worldly.
Showcases of costumes worn during concerts makes you feel so close to BTS.
These outfits on display were worn during Mic Drop performances.
The details of the jackets, shirts, buckles, pants, and boots were incredible.
The power these clothes give off is almost tangible.
It's like standing before greatness.
One of the many, many, many art installations in the museum included a collage of all the album concept ideas, and was assembled in meaningful way to illustrate the individual and collective themes they wanted to convey for each album.
Sometimes the layers of meaning and sheer attention to detail to such extremes really blows me away.
A massively long wall showcased a giant photography collection of all the artists under HYBE labels.
Like the carefully curated gallery it is, each photo feels like it exactly captures each artist's essence.
After hearing so many stories about difficulties and stresses throughout the museum - at this exhibit, you can truly appreciate the talented artists they are, along with all the hardships they've gone through, the obstacles they've overcome, the hard work they've put in, and all their well-deserved successes.
It evokes (dare I say - bittersweet) feelings of pride and gratitude that these artists have given us their passions and their lives.
Many objects were donated to the museum from the artists themselves.
Seeing them all up close, within inches of your very eyeballs, is just astounding.
If you saw the Butter Unboxing , you can see the boxes they decorated all up-close.
You can even see Yoongi's own personal black guitar.
Overall - I think HYBE Insight makes you laugh and smile, it helps you learn, understand and appreciate, and ultimately - it just makes you feel good, which is exactly what they want - so I highly recommend a visit for any fan in Korea!
