My friend and I booked this hotel based on the tripadvisor review. We were so glad we did, because we were very happy with EVERYTHING. Yes, it is true that the food in Cuba is not as good as food in Mexico but we were quite happy with their buffet. Their Japanese restaurant was excellent but I would not recommened their Cuban restaurant.... We actually got up and left in the middle of our meal. In fact, my friend was quite sick next day for 24 hours... Hotel itself is old but they kept it nice and clean. We stayed in the bungalow, right by the pool, and we were very pleased with our room. My other friends stayed in the main building and the major difference is that the main building room has a huge bathroom! If you want to be close to the pool area and the beach, I would recommend the bungalow! One thing I cannot stress about this hotel is their staff memebers. They were so friendly and helpful. In fact, we became great friends where we all knew each other quite well. There is an entertainment show every night and I would highly recommened going to it. I was really not keen on it at first, but i felt in love it and end up going to it every single night! In fact, we were the judges for the mr. Iberostar taino show!...x-factor, american idol have nothing on us! haha We did a day trip to Havana with a local guide and we were talking about all the resorts in Varadero and he says this hotel would be on his top 3 hotel list. And I completely agree. I have been to Mexico many times...and yes, this resort was older and smaller but I never been so pleased with the service that I have recieved from the staff. If you are looking for a party resort, I would not recommened it...but if you are looking for a laid back, friendly atmosphere..this is it! I went with 3 other girls (age 23-26) and we had a fabulous time. Thank you for everything, Iberostar Tainos! "Hey~~ heyyyyyy babyyy! woo-hah! I wanna knowwww~~~ would you be my girl~~" -the official theme song of Iberostar tainos! You will know the dance by the end of your trip! Other helpful tips! - Snorkelling: No need to go too far, just do it on your resort property! We went straight to the guy at the beach and paid 20c/per person and they take you out snorkelling for an hour (plus 30 minutes ride back and forth) and i've never seen anything like it in my life! I would HIGHLY recommend it!!!!!! - Catamaran Cruise: we booked it with sunwing company and honestly it was well-worth the money. Close encounter with dorphins - i got to put my head in its mouth... awesome! Snorkelling was okay....(this is NOTHING compare to the one we did at the resort) Cayo Blanco was unreal...breath-taking beach! - Night out @ the CAVE: Monday is the cave night and we went out with a group of people from the resort. 2c drinks... 2c shots.. do i need to say more? Club in a cave....with pirates.. oh i t was a magical night. -HAVANA trip: instead of going with a big group, we hired a local tour guide named, George. He was fantastic! He picked us up in a classic car and organized the trip based on our needs.

We have a roll of 14 shows and could be like circus, dancing and perfoming or guest show as it is the case of Mr. IB, that people really like it. On regrads the difference in between the main building and the bungalows are the bathrooms and that on the main building by the moment all the rooms have an LCD TV, but bungalows keep being so famous maybe beacuse are closer to the pool and beach area. Excellent beach, a bar on the beach with beautiful music. many thanks to the barman of the Franky, he did always delicious cocktails. We've recently returned from a most enjoyable 2 weeks at the Tainos. Our choice of hotel was largely decided by the comments of our fellow Trip Advisors and we're happy to say that we agree with all the positive comments and came home satisfied that we'd made a good choice. Having performed the simple check in procedure we were initially disapponted to be allocated a second floor room in the main building, but once we saw the room we were quite happy as it was very spacious and adequately furnished. The balcony afforded a good view to the front of the hotel and everything in the room including the air con worked. ( My only small gripe would be the additional cost for the safe but this is not unique to this hotel ) We soon got our bearings around the complex and were very happy with all that we found. From the outset the cheerful, friendly and welcoming staff are very obvious and we felt this set the atmosphere for the whole hotel. so a big well done and thankyou to "Team Tainos." We found the hotel very clean and tidy, the gardens immaculate and the beach probably the best I've been on. Food and drink were in abundance and of good quality: plenty of choice on offer every day in the buffet restaurant and we dined once at the Japanese and three times at the Cuban restaurants which were great.The service was impeccable and it was noticeable that discretionary tipping did not affect the standard, the staff just continued to work flaf out. We became so relaxed that we didn't venture off site for the first week, but we did get out and about in week 2. Trips we'd recommend: 1. The overnighter to Havana because it's a must see. 2. The open top bus which you can ride all day around Varadero for 5 CUC. 3. Hiring a car and driver to take you down town. ( 4 of us paid 30 CUC to ride in a 50's Cadillac for an hour which was money well spent, not only for the ride but the character driving! ) We could easily have stayed for longer and can understand why people return to this hotel. We're planning on returning next year so that we can pick up where we left off and the Tainos will be our first choice for accommodation. Very highly recommended!

Just returned from the Iberostar Tainos and we're already planning a return. From the moment you arrive until the time you leave the staff cannot do enough for you and are so friendly, warm and simply aim to please. The hotel lobby can get a little warm but the bar and atmosphere are just so relaxing and the Cuba Libre is a must. The rooms are a little dated but the hotel is slowly updating with little or no fuss. We statyed in the hotel itself on the 3rd floor and waking up to a sea view everyday for a fortnight was just bliss. The view over the bungalows and over to the sea is a must. The food like all hotels was a little repetative, however I never went hungry for a fortnight and have put on nearly a stone!!! The entertainment was quite good however due to the excess measures in the cocktals we did miss quite a few, the staff litterally work their socks off to ensure everyone has a good time. The hotel atmosphere is so chilled and relaxed that you can just simply laze on the beach and do nothing all day.. We did the swimming with dolphin trip through the hotel and it is a must, all inclusive trip on the boat and the show and swimming with them was amazing, thanks Jose' for your recommendation. Varadero is just a must, the open top bus will pick you up at the end of the road and for £3.50 you can jump on and off all day, however an open top taxi tour for £20 for an hour is just sheer bliss.. All in all a wonderful relaxed, chilled holiday where we met some lovely people and cannot wait to go back, thank you.....

This hotel is well located on a very nice beach. Unfortunately, when we were there, we had a terrible experience. There were 3 people trying really hard to make up for it, the lady in charge of the reception, the customer relations lady and the director (who just arrived and seems to be taking things in hand). When we arrived, we were told we would have a nice view and a double bed (which we requested), we got 2 beds and a view on some road works. A new room was offered to us, which had a double bed (1 out of 2)... The pool is nice, although a bit too hot (but they can't do much about that), the whirlpool area didn't really work though. There are 2 types of sun beds, the new ones, which are alright and the old ones: avoid them! The beach is really nice, but the sun beds are awful. There were also a lot of jelly fish (they don't sting). The laundry team damaged a few of my cloths because they don't read washing instructions. When we complained, there was a man, who pretended to be the assistant manager, he was unfriendly and had no intend to make any efforts. However, we found out that he was just a customer pretending to work there! There are 3 restaurants in the evening, the main one, which is entirely inside, with air conditioning that is not really working. It's a shame, I would have loved an outside restaurant with just a palm tree leafs roof and a couple of big fans as you find in many other countries. A Cuban restaurant which is as I would like the main restaurant to be and a Japanese which has only the name that is Japanese. We had a bad experience at the Japanese restaurant, as we didn't see until we left the room that we needed trousers in that restaurant, we asked them if we had to go change, they said yes so we did. When we came back, they were letting everybody in in shorts. Food, in all three, is bellow average. Day time, you can eat at the main restaurant (inside) or next to the pool. The failed, in more then 1 occasion to have simple food such as burgers until the end of service. One day, next to the pool, they had a grill and were preparing burgers, but they had no more bread, when you complain and ask them why they have the bread for burgers in the main restaurant and the meat outside, they tell you it's not their problem. I had to raise my voice to get one of them to go get some bread for burgers. Food in both places is bellow average. The entertainment team has some shocking attitude, they used to throw empty plastic glass on the floor, get drunk on the beach party night and then be annoying on the microphone, only take care of their favorite guests (there was 1 mother and sun who had all the time an entertainer with them and no one cared about others). I even saw an entertainer hand some alcohol to a boy which was about 12 years old. On beach party night, after the evening show, they asked us all to go to the beach for the party, when we arrived, the guy at the bar refused to serve drinks as we were 30 minutes early on the timing. Again, I had to complain to the head of entertainers to get our drinks. While we were there, a women past (RIP), her body stayed in the room all day long. We talked with their neighbors and they said they had that smell in their room due to that. Our room made was also really good and took great care of our room! We think that the attitude of the staff just made this a terrible experience. Again, there were these 3 ladies who were making everything they could to make up for it. Good luck to the new director, who has a lot of work to bring the level up.

We assure you that improvement, in all our services are an ongoing process and our priority is guest satisfaction.Actually we try to fullfill all our room request fist if the travel agency sent it to us and then according the availability on the arrival date and if by any chance we do not have any available for that same day we try to give a change room for the following day, as in your case that same day we had one and you switched room. I felt so sorry for the t-shirt and the bermudas that were damage per our laundry, mistakes happened and I guess Giselle spoke with you on this behalf. On regards the ¨ men assitant manager¨ we do not have any one here, the assitant manager it is a woman as well, as I told you here I do apologize as I it was a guest that I do not know why he puts him in this position, and of course he wont do it again as it is unacceptable. As per the food suggestions we are going to work hard to improve. A soon you reported me about the drunken staff at the beach party I had spoken with the Entertainment manager in order to behave his team and since then everything it is under control. Unfortunately on my first weekend we lost a guest, and here in Cuba you have to reported everything to a lot of gobernamentals entities and we as hotel can not move anything if they do not arrive, so that doesn´t depends on us, and we have to follow the rules that they have here it is not as in the outsides countries, even do we try to make it the most smooth and respectufully for the family who was here in pain and just for your information the neighbors were the familiy or friends and they decide to stay in tha room and they have not complained. We really do appreciate your words on behalf Gisele, Annelys and me we always try to accomodate the more pleasant possible as it is part of our work commitment. But we do hope, to have another opportunity in the near future, to make your holiday unforgettable. If you decide to give us another chance here at Tainos or in another IBEROSTAR let us know. My grown daughter and I stayed five nights at the Iberostar Tainos after five nights in Havana. The rooms were inexpensive enough that the upcharge to get us each a room was not much more than our sharing a room. Everything you expect at an all inclusive was there, there just wern't three or four of them. We arranged scuba diving with the close by Baracuda diving Center, Jessica did skydiving out of a Russian helicopter that dropped her right on our beach. And speaking of the beach- beautiful white sand, a long gentle slope out to a sand bar, no sharp shells or rocks, very clear 84degree water in early Aug, lots of palm trees, more than enough beach loungers with thatched shady palapas, really one of the most beautuiful beachs I've ever been to, and I've been to lots of places.Food was plentiful and good, but generally not spectacular. I'd go back if my travels take me back to Varadero.

We visited this hotel from 13th September- 28th September 2012. This was out second time back to the hotel after visiting September 2011. We had a great experience the first year but after returning again we feel this may have been exaggerated due to the fact we got engaged whilst we were there and focusing more upon the good aspects. This time we traveled with family and had 3 rooms. Before we left the UK we emailed the hotel to ask for the rooms to be next to each other due to one of the rooms occupying a single lady (mother). Once we had arrived the rooms were not next to each other but near which was fine. However the other couple we were traveling with entered their room to find that their toilet did not work at all and that they had two single beds and not a double! I went down to the manager on reception and explained to them that I was cross this had happened and she told me to "shh". I explained to her that we had come to the hotel last year and had this time returned with family and does not set a good impression after we told our family we had had a good experience the first year. They then had to move rooms which was not underneath or next to my mother so subsequently she was now in a room on her own at night when none of the patio doors in the bungalows locked properly. They told us that was the only room available. Upon returning there are some serious issues regarding this hotel. Food is a major concern and even though this is a 4 star hotel the food is most certain not of that standard. The quality and choice of food is extremely poor. I understand they have a limited selection and they really try to do the best with what they can but it is not for those who are food lovers. On many occasions the meat was raw in the middle especially those being prepared on the BBQ by the pool.Due to this problem I spent most of the holiday extremely hungry and made the holiday unpleasant. The Japanese restaurant is very good however the Cuban restaurant is not. I feel the hotel could not with some more A la carte restaurants to offer better quality and choice. Generally the staff at this hotel are wonderful. From the gentleman who did the eggs in the morning who put a smile on my face to Darlynn, Yudel, Frankie ( Beach bar), Rose and Julio (from the entertainment team). Those especially provided excellent service and extremely hard work. However, a few individuals really left a sour taste in your mouth. The three ladies that work in the Cuban restaurant in the evening were some of the rudiest people I have ever come across.The younger of the three ladies there was not interested in the people in the restaurant and would continuously keep checking her watch for the time.On the evening we visited the Cuban restaurant there was a lady going round with surveys for the hotel. She asked us to fill them out and give them back to her. We began filling them out whilst waiting for our dinner and the young waitress handed us a piece of paper and told us to write down all 3 waitresses names on the survey for good service. I responded by saying that I would be writing people's names down that I felt provided good service in the hotel. She then continued to slam our main courses down on the table and did not offer us desserts. Another couple whilst we were in the restaurant had left their surveys on the table to people collected. The young waitress went over to their table after they had left and wrote they names down on the survey sheet and did not care who was watching her! This type of behaviour really leaves you with a bad impression of the hotel and the people. The rooms are not glamorous and if you are going to book this hotel understand that it is not so easy for them to replace rust on the bath (like we had in our room) or the air conditioning being the most powerful. Expect more of a basic style room. Whilst there we did the Cayo Blanca trip which was excellent. We also rented out an American car for the evening which took us round Varadero and to a local restaurant where we had lobster which cost approx £10 each. We also took a trip to Playas Americas shopping mall which was really terrible not worth the trip out. My and my partner went to Havana last year but the family wanted to do it so we went again. Last year we stayed in the National Hotel and it was truly fabulous however they were now using the Panorama and what a disappointment. The food at the hotel (and throughout the 2 day Havana tour) was dreadful. The service at the hotel was extremely hostile and abrupt not what we experienced at the National and we did not see any of the Tropicana show. When asked if anymore seats they said no. We brought this up to the rep (Jose) and his attitude from being very nice when booking all the trips to extremely defensive and rude when we complained saying he never gets negative feedback about Panaroma and the National is a lot worse for service etc. The likes of Frank Sinatra and Kate Moss have stayed at the National so I do not think this is the case and we never experienced this. The beach is out of this world, having been to St Lucia and Mexico this really is second to none but I think this would be the only reason for returning to Cuba. My personal opinion is if you want something a little more luxurious and can afford to stretch your budget, then do! Unfortunately we felt this hotel has gone down hill from last year....our rooms was not as nice....the food has got a lot worse.....we experienced rudeness from several staff members....issue with the patio doors not locking is rather a concerning safety aspect! However if you want a cheap 2 week getaway and not bothered too much about the food then this would be fine. Adele and Dan

We assure you that improvement, in all our services are an ongoing process and our priority is guest satisfaction. Let me tell you that the front desk normally try to fullfilled the room request of our future guest but it is always according the availability on your arrival day and always stay as request. Also in case that we do not have the kind of room for that same day we check with the next departures the availability and we give you the choice to change on the following days if you desire.As per the food we work with a menu of 14 day rotation, in the case of the raw meat the hotel have huge variety of nationalities that work with that have different ways to have the meat been cooked therefore we have it in a medium way and that it is why we have the cookers in the showcooking and you can ask them to make it more cook. We will give your comments to the staff that you mentioned as they will be glad to know that their service make the difference in your vacations. Also I want to thank you for let me know what happened on the survey day at the Cuban restaurant, what they asked to do it it is not allowed and I am concerned of this behave. I will verify with them in order to not repeat it. In the next following 2 years the hotel will have a renovation in the bath and rooms. Hope you can give us another chance to welcome you back again. Just returned from the tanios and had a wonderful time here. We arrived at the hotel very late at night and very tired, were allocated a first floor front facing room which was over the doorway of the hotel, we decided to ask to be moved to a bungalow the next morning. We went to reception and made our request for a bungalow and were moved within two hours. We were given an upper floor room beside the hydro pool and it was excellent. Staff friendliness is second to none, all the staff are so so friendly and no one ever passes you without a greeting. Food was plentiful and with such a vast choice you will always find something you like. The gardens and grounds are kept immaculate by the groundkeepers, although I must say their job could be made much easier if people lifted their rubbish up after them, I watched every evening when the sunbathers left the pool area the men coming round with rubbish sacks to lift the mess that lazy people had left behind them, plastic cups, straws, plates tucked under sun beds, cigarette buts - come on people, you are on holiday but you don't have to be a slob! (rant over). Entertainment was fantastic, the team try to get all involved but won't pester you if you are like myself and just like to watch and enjoy. The beach was absolute heaven! Always a man to help you get a sun lounger and place it wherever you wanted. Pool bar was great and the toilets were spotless . Everyone of the staff we encountered on our holiday was friendly, welcoming and helpful so I am not going to name anyone at the risk of offending someone I may have forgot. Would definitely return here.

My friend and I booked this hotel based on the tripadvisor review. We were so glad we did, because we were very happy with EVERYTHING. Yes, it is true that the food in Cuba is not as good as food in Mexico but we were quite happy with their buffet. Their Japanese restaurant was excellent but I would not recommened their Cuban restaurant.... We actually got up and left in the middle of our meal. In fact, my friend was quite sick next day for 24 hours... Hotel itself is old but they kept it nice and clean. We stayed in the bungalow, right by the pool, and we were very pleased with our room. My other friends stayed in the main building and the major difference is that the main building room has a huge bathroom! If you want to be close to the pool area and the beach, I would recommend the bungalow! One thing I cannot stress about this hotel is their staff memebers. They were so friendly and helpful. In fact, we became great friends where we all knew each other quite well. There is an entertainment show every night and I would highly recommened going to it. I was really not keen on it at first, but i felt in love it and end up going to it every single night! In fact, we were the judges for the mr. Iberostar taino show!...x-factor, american idol have nothing on us! haha We did a day trip to Havana with a local guide and we were talking about all the resorts in Varadero and he says this hotel would be on his top 3 hotel list. And I completely agree. I have been to Mexico many times...and yes, this resort was older and smaller but I never been so pleased with the service that I have recieved from the staff. If you are looking for a party resort, I would not recommened it...but if you are looking for a laid back, friendly atmosphere..this is it! I went with 3 other girls (age 23-26) and we had a fabulous time. Thank you for everything, Iberostar Tainos! "Hey~~ heyyyyyy babyyy! woo-hah! I wanna knowwww~~~ would you be my girl~~" -the official theme song of Iberostar tainos! You will know the dance by the end of your trip! Other helpful tips! - Snorkelling: No need to go too far, just do it on your resort property! We went straight to the guy at the beach and paid 20c/per person and they take you out snorkelling for an hour (plus 30 minutes ride back and forth) and i've never seen anything like it in my life! I would HIGHLY recommend it!!!!!! - Catamaran Cruise: we booked it with sunwing company and honestly it was well-worth the money. Close encounter with dorphins - i got to put my head in its mouth... awesome! Snorkelling was okay....(this is NOTHING compare to the one we did at the resort) Cayo Blanco was unreal...breath-taking beach! - Night out @ the CAVE: Monday is the cave night and we went out with a group of people from the resort. 2c drinks... 2c shots.. do i need to say more? Club in a cave....with pirates.. oh i t was a magical night. -HAVANA trip: instead of going with a big group, we hired a local tour guide named, George. He was fantastic! He picked us up in a classic car and organized the trip based on our needs.

On regrads the difference in between the main building and the bungalows are the bathrooms and that on the main building by the moment all the rooms have an LCD TV, but bungalows keep being so famous maybe beacuse are closer to the pool and beach area. had a rest in this hotel in the past year. this Hotel is one of the best in Varadero. We liked everything. Excellent beach, a bar on the beach with beautiful music. many thanks to the barman of the Franky, he did always delicious cocktails.
