If that’s not enough for you, you can also split your time on a 14 day safari in Kenya seeing the incredible Amboseli National Park or Tsavo East park where elephant herds roam in huge number, local Maasai people and their culture lives on and you’ll encounter lions, black rhinos, buffalos and leopards, a real treat for the eyes.

The best 14 day Kenya safari Tours

Price of a 14 day kenya safari.

A 14 day camping tour starts at about $1,650 per person. Mid-range lodge tours start at $3,500 per person whilst luxury tours start at around $4,200 per person. There are many factors determining the price of a 14 day Kenya safari.

Safari packages to Kenya span a wide price range, influenced by several variables. The biggest factor determining the price of a safari is the level of accommodation. This will ultimately categorize tours as being budget, mid-range or luxury. Shared tours are usually cheaper than private tours.

This is especially the case for single travelers. On a 14 day trip you might want to consider a fly-in safari, but these are considerably more expensive than road safaris. Check out the seasons too; low-season prices can be favorable and while you’ll probably get some rain at this time, it’s when the scenery is at its best.

Safari essentials and information

Is a 14 day safari in kenya sufficient.

14 days is plenty to see, hear and experience the incredible wildlife and sights of Kenya. The number of days needed to properly do a Kenya safari can range from 1-2 days to 1-2 weeks, depending on how much time and budget a visitor has.

Each day consists of an early morning game drive and a late afternoon game drive, certainly sufficient time to view the big 5 and incredible scenery. On a 14 day trip you can even break up the drive to Masai Mara with an overnight stay in Lake Nakuru National Park or Lake Naivasha , with the option to visit nearby Hell’s Gate National Park .

Alternatively you can spend all of your time in the famous Masai Mara . With full days at the reserve, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to explore this iconic safari destination including a full-day dusk-to-dawn game drive that will include lunch at one of the picnic spots.

Morning and evening game drives are rewarding as well, but on a full day you can get further into the reserve, away from the more-crowded areas. Overall, 14 days is a superb amount of time for a safari in Kenya if it is part of a larger tour, but if not, allocating a few more days to your safari would be ideal if possible.

Accommodation offered on a 14 day Kenya safari?

After a long day surveying the incredible Kenyan landscape and wildlife on offer, guests can look forward to the very best safari accommodation Kenya has to offer. The accommodation here is excellent with numerous options from tented camps, luxury lodges to camping grounds.

From camping in the bush with amenities to mid-range and luxury lodges, there’s something for everyone here. Of particular note include the renowned Cottar’s 1920s Camp in Masai Mara, a spacious luxury safari camp in a quiet section of the park where the golden age of exploration meets modern-day adventure safaris.

Go fishing, walking or hot-air ballooning before enjoying an outdoor bath and sundowners and dinner in the bush.

Must do on a 14 day Kenya safari

The most popular option for a 14 day Kenyan safari is Masai Mara National Reserve . The flight from Nairobi gets you there in about 45 minutes, but a road safari is also feasible. With an early start, you should be in the Mara in time for an afternoon game drive.

A 14 day safari to Amboseli NP , at the base of Mt Kilimanjaro, is also a good option. While the Mara is best for big cats, you can expect elephant sightings in Amboseli. And on clear days, Kilimanjaro creates a perfect backdrop for your photographs.

Another option is to head for the highlands of Laikipia Plateau. There are several excellent private reserves worth visiting here, but Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a great choice. It’s home to all the Big Five, and offers easy encounters with both black and white rhino.

People on a beach holiday around Mombasa or elsewhere on Kenya’s Indian Ocean coastline often opt to add a short safari to their itinerary. The most popular choices for this are Tsavo East or West National Parks, which together form the largest protected area in Kenya.

Can I combine a 14 day safari in Kenya with a gorilla trek?

A gorilla trek is a popular add-on to a Kenyan safari. You can track mountain gorillas in Rwanda or Uganda. Both offer a similar experience, but the gorilla trekking fee of $1,500 in Rwanda is more than double the fee charged in Uganda.

However, the logistics of visiting Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda are easier. The drive to the park from Kigali, Rwanda’s point of entry, is only a few hours. Coming eye to eye with our close relatives is an incredible experience.

Many people enjoy the opportunity to get active and spend time in the forest after a classic safari in Kenya where most time is spent on game drives. Time permitting, you can also add a couple of days for forest hikes and other activities that are on offer.

Animals on a Kenya safari?

You’ll find just about everything in Kenya! The country is home to the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and African buffalo) and visitors will also find Wildebeest, Diceros, Impalas, Dik-diks, Impalas, giraffes, hyenas, African wild dogs and many more.

Endlessly intelligent and iconic, African elephants continue to capture the hearts of travelers to Kenya. In addition to watching the largest land mammals roam the savannah, you can opt to visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where they care for young elephants and rhinos before releasing them back to the wild.

Rhino are more difficult to find. To see rhinos in Kenya, you should consider going to one of the reserves in Laikipia. Amboseli NP is great for elephant, giraffe and buffalo, but big cat sightings are less common here and rhino is absent.

Whilst Masai Mara is world famous for hosting the epic Great Migration, the Mara welcomes 1.5 million wildebeests onto its sprawling savannahs each July through October. Other wildlife that visitors can expect to find include abundant elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions and cheetah alongside the migratory animals and zebra.

How much spending money do I need for a 14 day Kenya safari?

Visitors should budget for approximately $300 for a Kenya safari per person per day, including food and accommodation. Kenya safaris can be more expensive than their continental counterparts due to the higher costs of accommodation and food.

What animals will I see on a 14 day Kenya safari tour?

Visitors on a 14 day Kenya safari will see the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and African buffalo), hyenas, wildebeest, giraffes, cheetah, zebras, endangered black rhinos, hippos, crocodiles and much more.

What is the best time to go on a 14 day Kenya safari?

The best time to go on a 14 day Kenya safari is from June to October when there’s practically no rain and daytime temperatures are not too hot. With an overall moderate climate, Kenya is however considered a great year-round safari and beach holiday destination.

Pick up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to the Holiday Inn hotel for an overnight stay.

Meals: Dinner

After breakfast, pick up from the Hilton hotel and proceed south through Maasai land to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro, where Amboseli is located. After a quick lunch at the resort, we head to the magnificent Amboseli National Park for a wildlife drive before returning to the Amboseli Serena lodge for a sundowner. Meals are provided on a full board basis.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After a leisurely breakfast, we go on morning and afternoon game drives to explore the park. We have plenty of time to unwind at the Amboseli Serena lodge, which overlooks the spectacular Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s most prominent wildlife refuges. It is located near the Kenya-Tanzania border. The park is located at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro , Africa’s highest mountain (5,896m), whose snow-capped top provides a spectacular perspective on clear days. Amboseli National Park is known as “The Home of Elephants” because it is home to some of the largest elephant herds in the world. There are also large herds of Zebras, Wildebeests, Giraffes, Buffalos, Hippos, and Antelopes in the Game Park. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, and a variety of plain game can also be found in Amboseli.

Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Drive to Amboseli National Park

We depart Amboseli, observing game as we travel through Nairobi to the Aberdares, where we will overnight in a Tree Hotel or lodge overlooking floodlit waterholes frequented by wildlife and birds. The Aberdare mountain ranges are home to around 40 kinds of wildlife, which can be found lurking in the densely forested slopes and upper moor regions. The Aberdares is well-known for its rhino sanctuary, but keep a look out for the elusive uncommon bongo, which can be found in the upper bamboo zone and hypericum scrub.

Meals: Breakfast. Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, we continue north across the Equator to the Northern Frontier. We arrive in time for lunch, then go on an afternoon game drive before returning for a sundowner and dinner at the Samburu Ashnil Lodge or Samburu Lodge . Meals are provided on a full board basis.

Samburu is a lava plain with a varied scenery of thorn scrub, red mud, dried river beds, shattered volcanic rock, steep hills, and rocky outcroppings. After the Mara, this reserve is quickly becoming one of Kenya’s most admired locations. The sight of the unusually branched doum palms and thorn plants lends an interesting appearance to the region.

Game drive with Elephant Bedroom Camp -Samburu

The entire day will be spent resting and slowly touring Samburu National Reserve during morning and afternoon game drives. You can pay extra to participate in some of the activities offered at the lodges and to visit Samburu villages.

The light and great openness create a solitary panoramic beauty, while the constant water supply works as a magnet for the abundant species present here. The region is home to the rare Grevy’s zebra, which has big furry ears, gerenuk antelopes, which stand on their hind legs to graze, Somali ostriches, which have distinguishing blue legs, and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile sightings are guaranteed, as is fantastic bird watching with various weaverbird species and the martial eagle. Leopard sightings are also a unique aspect of this location.

We do one last early morning game drive in the Samburu reserve before departing for the Mt. Kenya region. Arrival to the resort in time for you to take advantage of the lodge’s amenities. Explore Mount Kenya National Park or take a tour to the nearby Sweetwaters Reserve , which is home to Chimpanzees.

Sweetwater’s is Kenya’s sole rehabilitation center for these commonly abused chimps, with two groups living in an environment as close to their native habitat as possible. The site also serves as a breeding ground for black rhinos.

Sweetwaters sits in Private conservancy that is a home to East Africa largest black rhino

Drive down through the Nyahururu Falls to the shallow soda Lake Bogoria and then to the magnificent Lake Baringo, where you can enjoy an evening bird walk. Dinner and an overnight stay at the Lake Baringo Lodge.

The Nyahururu Falls, also known as Thomson Falls, are created by the waters of the Ewaso Narok River and plummet over 72m into a gap, splashing the dark forest below. They were named after Joseph Thomson, who trekked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the early 1880s.

The primary attractions in the beautiful Lake Bogoria are hot springs and geysers. With a nomad population of up to two million birds, the lake has been dubbed “the new home of the flamingo.” Kesubo marsh, located north of the park, is home to more than 200 different bird species.

Lake Baringo is the most northern of Kenya’s tiny Rift Valley lakes, furrowed with papyrus and densely forested with acacia. Hippos, crocodiles, and monitor lizards can all be viewed from the shore, as can a spectacular show of water birds. Kenya’s bird viewing center, with over 1200 different species native to the country and over 450 observed here. A birdwatcher’s paradise, but be warned: this is malaria territory, so bring plenty of mosquito protection.

We take a boat ride in the morning in quest of hippopotamus, crocodiles, and fish eagles. Following a delicious lunch, we will go to Lake Nakuru National Park for an afternoon game drive.

Nakuru National Park is 180 square kilometers in size and is home to warthogs, waterbucks, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the rare leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park several years ago, and white rhinos can be found towards the park’s southern end. The park has also maintained its status as an ornithologist’s paradise, with over 400 bird species found here. We spend the night at the Kembu campsite, which is located just outside of town.

Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya

We leave early in the morning for Masai Mara National Reserve via the Great Rift Valley, arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. We then go on an afternoon wildlife drive before returning to the lodge for a fantastic sundowner and dinner at Keekorok Lodge or Masai Mara Sarova Luxury tented camp.

The Mara reserve has 1510 square kilometers of spectacular wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woods, and one look is enough to see why it is so appealing; it is classic savannah, with a plethora of amazing fauna.

There is a lot of wildlife in the Mara, including Masai giraffe , baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, and wildebeests. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also plentiful. Lions are also frequently seen either sunbathing after a large meal or scouting the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are more difficult to spot, although they are still rather abundant.

The next two days will be spent viewing game in the early morning and late evening hours, as these are the times when we have the best prospects of spotting animals. The ultimate action in this area is without a doubt the yearly wildebeest exodus in July and August, when millions of these grass eaters migrate north from the Serengeti in search of greener pastures before returning south in October. A hot air balloon safari and a cultural tour to Maasai settlements for youngsters to learn about Maasai culture and traditional dances can be arranged.

You may also choose to participate in some of the lodge’s activities. On clear days, the Masai Mara offers spectacular orange-tinged sunsets, which you will want to record while sipping a sundowner back at the Keekorok Lodge or Masai Mara Sarova Luxury tented camp .

Kenya Masai Mara game drive

Following a final early morning game drive, we depart for Nairobi , arriving in the late afternoon. Drop off at the Nairobi Holiday Inn hotel for a little refreshment before heading to the Carnivore Restaurant for dinner at 1900 hrs. Stay at the Holiday Inn for the night.

Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home.

Day 1: Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

‘Jambo!’ As you walk out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your personal Africa Safari Trips guide greets you with a big smile on his face. ‘Karibu Kenya – welcome to Kenya!’

Our Africa Safari Trips guide takes you straight from the airport to your hotel, which gives you the first impressions of the vibrant city of Nairobi. You take in the skyscrapers, the traffic with the motortaxis and colourful matatu’s (local public transport), and the hussle and bussle of people living their every day life…

Ask your guide anything that comes to mind, because he knows all about Kenyan life and culture. But not only that; he also gladly tells you everything about the beautiful national parks you are about to visit. So ask whatever you want – he will do his utmost best to answer all your questions…!

You will stay in hotel: Boma Inn Nairobi

Day 2: ol' pejeta conservancy.

At a three to four hour drive from Nairobi you will find yourself in what we call heaven on earth for rhino fans. With a population of 140 black rhinos the Ol’ Pejeta Conservancy is the largest sanctuary for these massive animals in East and Central Africa.

Black rhinos are critically endangered since 1993. Back then, there were only an estimated 2300 left worldwide. These days their number is up to over 5000 again. In Ol’ Pejeta, their number grew steadily from 20 in 1995 to a population of 140 today. Besides, it’s also home to the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world and 39 southern white rhinos.

To top it off Ol’ Pejeta also hosts a sanctuary for abused chimps, and in the park itself you can spot the Big Five and many more animals.

You will stay in hotel: Sweetwaters Serena Camp

Day 3: afternoon safari in samburu national reserve.

With beautiful landscapes and hundreds of animals, Samburu National Reserve guarantees the sort of game viewing you otherwise would only experience watching National Geographic. At a five hour drive from Ol’ Pejeta, it has a semi-dry desert and savannah landscape which causes the wildlife to be easy to spot…!

This park is 165 square kilometers big and, with over nine hundred elephants roaming around in large families, this is a spectacular park to visit. Follow the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River for the best game viewing. It is is the only source of water for many animals, especially during dry seasons. Four of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo) roam around, as well as rarer species, such as wild dogs, Grevy zebras, gerenuks and Beisa oryxes. Crocs and hippos populate the river to cool down, or to hunt for prey on the riverbank.

You will stay in hotel: Samburu Sopa Lodge

Day 4: full day safari in samburu national reserve.

In this full day in Samburu you get the chance to really search for the Big Five, and of course observe the elephants. During the day it can be hot, and game viewing is best done in the morning and afternoon. In between you can take a rest at your hotel, or visit the beautiful Samburu people.

This is a traditionally nomadic tribe related to the Maasai. They live in secluded bomas: little villages with a circular wooden fence. Their huts have rounded roofs made out of cowdung, since they are pastoralists with mostly herds of cows, sheep or goats. Especially the Samburu women wear complicated and colourful necklaces and headwear, that they make themselves out of small beads.

As a break in between safaris, it’s possible to visit one of their bomas to get familiar with the traditional life of Samburu people. You will see their houses, learn about their way of life, how their necklaces are made and what the secret messages are inside.

Day 5: Solio Game Reserve

Today you will visit Solio Game Reserve , a privately owned sanctuary dedicated to rhino conservation. The reserve is located in the valley between the high slopes of Mount Kenya and the peaks of the Aberdare Mountains just north of Nairobi, providing a home for 200 rhinos.

The Solio Game Reserve (or Solio Ranch) used to be a working cattle ranch but in 1973, part of it was turned into a wildlife sanctuary. Rhinos and other wildlife were brought back to the area. Nowadays it’s a 49,000 acre ranch with 19,000 acres of wildlife sanctuary for the black and white rhinos. The rhinos live here in harmony with other wildlife like buffalos, zebras, giraffes, elands, oryxes, impalas, waterbucks, Thompson’s gazelles and warthogs. Here, it is not uncommon to see up to 40 rhinos at a time!

You will stay in hotel: Rhino Watch Safari Lodge

Day 6: lake naivasha & crescent island.

The mesmerizing Lake Naivasha lies in the Kenyan Rift Valley at 1,884 meters above sea level and is the highest lake within the Great Rift Valley. Today you drive in four to five hours from Masai Mara National Reserve to this 139 square kilometres large freshwater lake.

Between 1937 and 1950, Lake Naivasha was a landing place for Imperial Airways planes. They flew from Durban to Dublin at a time when this took several days of flying. Nowadays the lake forms a popular day trip for Nairobi residents due to its proximity to the capital.

Nestled in between swamps, forests and rock formations, Lake Naivasha is the perfect place for an amazing boat safari in between groups of hippos and flamingos! On the shores, you might see zebras, wildebeests and giraffes. After that, you experience walking amongst them as you take a guided walking safari on Crescent Island (the ‘hidden gem of Naivasha’) in the middle of the lake. It is a truly atmospheric place, where you might find some familiar settings as it was the primary filming location for the 1985 romantic drama Out of Africa.

You will stay in hotel: Sawela Lodge

Day 7: afternoon safari in masai mara national park.

Today you make the beautiful four hour drive from Lake Naivasha through Kenya’s Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve . Be ready for a  jawdropping sensation when you arrive on the amazingly beautiful savannah plains of the Masai Mara…!

After lunch you will get your first impression of these plains with its abundance of wildlife. The Masai Mara borders Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and together they are home to Africa’s best known natural wonder: the annual great migration . Over 2,5 million animals roam the plains of Serengeti and the Masai Mara together, following the rains in search of green pastures.

The Reserve is named Masai Mara in honor of the Masai people. The Masai (also spelled Maasai ) have lived in this region since they migrated from the Nile Basin centuries ago. Mara means spotted in the Maa language and refers to a landscape marked by many short bushy trees scattered all over the outstretched savannah.

You will stay in hotel: Zebra Plains Mara Camp

Day 8: full day safari in masai mara national reserve.

The Masai Mara is known for its abundance of wildlife, and today you have a full day to try and see it all! The National Reserve is home to more than 95 animal species and over 400 species of birds. From mid September to mid October the great migration arrives here. This means that huge herds of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, antelopes and impalas can be seen trying to cross the Mara River.

In other months you can spot the famous Big Five in the Masai Mara, as well as cheetahs, servals, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, black-backed or side-striped jackals, hippos, crocodiles, baboons, warthogs, topis, elands, waterbucks, oribis, reed-bucks and many, many more… A perfect way to end your safari adventure!

Day 9 - 13: Diani Beach

Diani Beach lies 20 kilometers south of Mombasa and is a one our flight from Nairobi. Today you leave the Masai Mara early in the morning, for a six hour drive to Nairobi. From there you fly straight to the 15 kilometers long stretch of beach called Diani. Lined with coconut trees and white powder sand, with amazing sunsets, beautiful resorts, high-class restaurants, water sport centers and even wildlife, Diani Beach basically has it all.

Diani has a stunning aquatic life to offer for those who like to explore the Indian Ocean. Ranging from humpback whales (September) to whale sharks (January to March) and dolphins (all year round), to seahorses, nudibranches and ghostpipe fish – your safari just continues under water.

Use your days to go scuba diving, snorkeling, kite surfing, windsurfing, boat rides or jet skiing, or of course just to relax on the beach. It’s also possible to do a day tour to the nearby city of Mombasa – stroll through old town and experience this vibrant city with its Arabic influences.

You will stay in hotel: Papillon Lagoon Reef Hotel

Day 14: ready for your flight back home....

As all good things come to an end, today is the day you fly back home. Enjoy your last hours on the beautiful Diani Beaches before you head to Mombasa for your flight back home.

Lovers of old cities can use this last day to first pay a visit to the city center of Mombasa (at 20 kilometers from Diani). This city is definitely worth your while with its famous Old Town, ocean view, abundant markets and several historic sites. After that our driver will take you straight to the airport, and you will surely have some amazing memories and pictures to take with you…!

DURATION: 14 DAYS

PLACES TO VISIT: Amboseli, Aberdares, Samburu, Mount Kenya, Sweetwater, Lake Baringo, Lake Bogoria, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara

14 days kenya safari

Airport pick-up at Jomo Kenyatta international airport and transfer to Holiday Inn hotel inn for overnight stay.

Pick up from the Hilton hotel after break fast and drive south through Maasai country to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro where Amboseli is situated. After a stopover lunch at the lodge, we proceed to the scenic Amboseli National Park for a game drive returning to the Amboseli Serena lodge in the evening for a sun downer. Full board meals.

After a leisurely breakfast, we explore the park through morning and afternoon game drives. We have sufficient time for relaxation at the Amboseli Serena lodge, complete with the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background. Amboseli National park is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in Kenya. It is situated close to the Kenya-Tanzania border. The Park lies at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5,896m) whose snow-capped summit presents a splendid view on clear days. Amboseli National Park is often referred to as “The home of Elephants’ some of the largest Elephant herds are found here. The Game Park also contains vast groups of Zebras, Wildebeests, Giraffes, Buffalos, Hippos and Antelopes. Also to be found in Amboseli are lions, leopards, Cheetahs, Rhinos and many species of plain game.

Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge . Full board meals.

We leave Amboseli, viewing game as we drive via Nairobi to the Aberdares to enjoy the experience of staying in a Tree Hotel or lodge overlooking floodlit waterholes where wildlife and birds regularly visit. Over 40 species of wildlife inhabit the Aberdare mountain ranges, hiding in the heavily forested slopes and in the upper moor lands. The Aberdares is noted as a rhino sanctuary but keep an eye out for the elusive rare bongo, which is best, spotted in the upper bamboo zone and hypericum scrub.

Dinner and overnight at Tree Hotel. Full board meals.

After breakfast, we proceed further north across the Equator to the edge of the Northern Frontier. We arrive in time for lunch and we have an afternoon game drive returning in time for a sun downer and dinner at the Samburu Ashnil lodge or Samburu Lodge. Full board meals. Samburu is part of a lava plain that includes a diverse landscape of thorn scrub, red dirt, dried river beds, broken volcanic rock, steep hills, and rocky outcroppings. This reserve is becoming one of Kenya’s most admired stops after the Mara. Sights of the peculiarly branched doum palms and thorn trees give an unusual look to the region.

The whole day will be spent relaxing and leisurely exploring the Samburu National Reserve through morning and afternoon game drives. You may opt to do some of the activities offered at the lodges and a visit to Samburu Villages at an extra cost. The light and vast openness creates a lonesome panoramic beauty and the permanent water supply acts like a lure for the abundant species found here. The region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings, excellent bird watching with numerous varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sighting is also a special feature here.

We enjoy a final early morning game drive in the Samburu reserve then depart for the Mt. Kenya region. Arrival at the lodge in time for you to enjoy the facilities of the lodge. Explore Mount Kenya National Park or take an optional tour to the nearby Sweetwater’s Reserve which is home to Chimpanzees. Sweetwater’s is the only sanctuary for rehabilitation in Kenya of these widely abused chimpanzees with two groups living in an environment as close to their natural habitat as possible. The site is also a dedicated black rhino breeding area.

Morning drive via the Nyahururu Falls down to the shallow soda Lake Bogoria and later to the beautiful lake Baringo where you may enjoy the pleasure of an evening bird walk. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Baringo lodge. The Nyahururu Falls also known as Thomson Falls was named after Joseph Thomson who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the early 1880s; these falls are shaped by the waters of the Ewaso Narok River and plunge over 72m into a rift, spraying the dark forest below. In the spectacular Lake Bogoria; hot springs and geysers are the main attractions. The lake has been called ‘the new home of the flamingo’ with a nomad population of up to two million birds. For the bird enthusiasts, Kesubo swamp located north of the park is home to more than 200 species of birds. Lake Baringo is the most Northerly of Kenya’s small Rift Valley lakes; creased with papyrus and well developed acacia forest. Hippos, crocodiles and monitor lizards are effortlessly seen from the shore, as is a magnificent display of water birds. This is Kenya’s bird watching centre with over 1200 different species native to the country and more than 450 sighted here. A bird watcher’s haven but beware, this is malaria land so it is best to come prepared with plenty of mosquito repellent.

We enjoy a morning boat ride in search of hippo, crocodile, and fish eagle. After a sumptuous lunch, we then proceed to Lake Nakuru and the Nakuru National Park for an afternoon game drive. The park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and you will find white rhino at the southern end. The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here. We spend the night at Kembu campsite just outside of town.

After an early breakfast, we depart for Masai Mara National Reserve via the Great Rift Valley arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. We then proceed on an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge for a delicious sundowner, and dinner at the Keekorok Lodge lodge or Masai Mara Sarova Luxury tented camp. The Mara reserve is 1510 sq km of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland and one glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife. Wherever you go in the Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos also exist in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but are still reasonably common.

The next 2 days shall be spent viewing game, in the early morning hours and in the evenings as this is when we have the best chances of seeing wildlife. The ultimate action here is without doubt the annual wildebeest exodus in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October. Hot air balloon safari can be arranged and a cultural visit to Maasai villages for the children to the Maasai culture and for a traditional dances. You may also opt to do some of the activities offered by the lodge. On clear days, the Masai Mara offers fantastic orange tinted sunsets and you will definitely want to capture this moment while sipping on a sun downer back at the Keekorok Lodge or Masai Mara Sarova Luxury tented camp.

After a final early morning game drive, we depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon hours. Drop off at Nairobi Holiday Inn hotel to freshen up before going to the Carnivore Restaurant for dinner at 1900 hrs. Overnight stay at the Holiday Inn.

Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home.

Choose to stay at the Treetops Lodge or The Ark and relish the alpine beauty of Aberdare.

Aberdare – Samburu Reserve

As the morning arrives, we bid farewell to the cool mountain climate of Aberdare and venture into the sunlit plains of Samburu National Reserve. This less-touristy park is home to big cats and plenty of elephants, offering a unique safari experience. If you desire, we can explore neighboring reserves like Shaba and Buffalo Springs, providing a contrast of woodlands and forests. Spend the evening at our Samburu lodge or tented camp.

Full Day at Samburu Reserve

Prepare for an exhilarating full day of game drives at Samburu Reserve, a unique opportunity as other safaris are often ending by this time. Witness the lifeline of the park, the Ewaso Ngiro River, attracting thirsty lions and elephants. Keep an eye out for Samburu’s distinctive species, such as the beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and Grevy’s zebra. For a cultural experience, we can visit the nearby Samburu People’s village and learn about their way of life. Spend the night at our Samburu accommodation.

Samburu Reserve – Ol Pejeta

Before leaving Samburu, we’ll take one last spin around the plains, soaking in the breathtaking vistas, and then head to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia. This reserve boasts the complete “Big Five,” including the rare African wild dog. Most notably, Ol Pejeta is the only place in Kenya to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Relax and share stories over dinner at our Ol Pejeta accommodation.

Ol Pejeta – Lake Naivasha

Today, we travel to the cool shores of Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake teeming with hippos, zebras, giraffes, and antelope. For an extraordinary experience, consider a bicycle safari at Hell’s Gate Park, where you can pedal alongside buffalo, antelope, and giraffes. End the day with dinner at our Lake Naivasha safari lodge or tented camp.

Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara

Embark on a sailing safari on Lake Naivasha, gliding past hippos and observing buffalo and antelope grazing nearby. Enjoy a bonus trip to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for close-up views of wildlife like wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, and giraffe. Next, journey to the magnificent Masai Mara National Reserve, the crown jewel of Kenya’s parks. Home to the “Big Five,” the Mara offers iconic African landscapes and a wealth of wildlife. Spend the night at our Masai Mara lodge or tented camp.

Full Day at Masai Mara Reserve

Enjoy a full day of unlimited game drives at Masai Mara, witnessing the impressive concentration of big cats, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The park’s fertile fields attract countless grazers, and from July to October, the Great Migration of wildebeests takes center stage. Picnic by the Mara River to witness the thrilling wildlife crossings. Add cultural moments or a hot air balloon safari to enrich your experience. Spend the night at our Mara accommodation.

Masai Mara – Serengeti Park

Explore a favorite spot in Masai Mara before crossing the border into Tanzania and venturing into Serengeti National Park, renowned for its vastness and immense wildlife populations, including over 4,000 lions and 1,000 leopards. Settle into our Serengeti lodge or tented camp and prepare for the next three days of safari adventures.

Full-Day Serengeti Park

Spend a full day at Serengeti, tracking diverse wildlife species, from elephants and rhinos to giraffes, gazelles, and more. Witness different aspects of the Great Migration from June to October and the calving season from December to March. Immerse yourself in the captivating scenes of this exceptional park, teeming with both predators and grazers. Relax at our Serengeti accommodation in the evening.

Serengeti Game Reserve – Ngorongoro Crater

Bid farewell to the majestic Serengeti and journey to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the awe-inspiring Ngorongoro Crater, a haven for a wide array of wildlife, including lions, buffalo, elephants, baboons, hippos, and even pink flamingoes. Descend into the crater and explore its dense world of animals and birds. Enjoy a breathtaking Ngorongoro sunset at the crater’s rim before retiring to our Ngorongoro accommodation.

Ngorongoro Crater -Tarangire Park Or Lake Manyara<br />

Witness a captivating sunrise at the crater’s rim before choosing your next destination: Tarangire National Park or Lake Manyara National Park. Tarangire boasts its own smaller migration and unique baobab trees, while Lake Manyara offers diverse wildlife and serene lake views. Spend the night at either destination.

Tarangire Park or Lake Manyara – Arusha
