Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary VIP Tour Overview

Walt Disney World  only turns 50 once and during the 18-month long World’s Most Magical Celebration , one of the ways Guests can enhance their celebration is with a new VIP Tour experience, fitting called the 50th Anniversary Tour . Hosted by a Disney VIP Tour Guide, the 8-hour tour is designed to maximize your appreciation of the history of the resort with a planned itinerary that includes resorts, theme parks, and Disney’s iconic modes of transportation. “Get ready to travel by land, sky and the seven seas on an adventure of a lifetime,” read the branding on the tour and with that, we set out for a magical day of experiences.

Your VIP Tour Guide will meet you at the Disney Resort you’re staying at, but since we weren’t staying on-property we met our guide Kelly at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Each member of our party was given a special 50th Anniversary version of the Disney VIP Tours pin. This tour accommodates a maximum of 6 Guests.

Our first mode of transportation was by land in a deluxe motor coach with digital controls that could raise and lower the shades, turn on multicolored lighting enhancements, and even stream Disney+  during the ride on two TVs facing each other.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground served as lodging for construction workers while Magic Kingdom  park was being built. Since Walt Disney’s first paying job as an artist was drawing his dentist’s horse for a nickel, we toured the brand-new Tri-Circle D horse barn and got to meet some of the steeds that pull the trolly and carriages down Main Street U.S.A. We also got to see the calliope that Walt Disney purchased, which was used in the film Toby Tyler  and parades at Disneyland  and Walt Disney World. It was recently redesigned in honor of the 50th Anniversary and as a special magic moment, we got to press the button to activate the calliope playing “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

Our next stop was Disney’s Contemporary Resort where, after learning about the unique way the main concourse was assembled, we took a private elevator up to the recently redesigned California Grill , with modifications designed to celebrate the history of the space. We toasted to 50 years with mimosas, took in the sweeping views of the 43-square miles of Walt Disney World property, and learned about how Walt Disney and his associates bought the land in secrecy to try and get a value on the land.

We had already traveled by land, so now it was time to take to the Seven Seas (Lagoon) via a privately chartered boat over the water bridge that connects the man-made lake to Bay Lake. Our guide shared some of the history of the Vacation Kingdom, even sailing us by the old wave machine that was used to offer surfing lessons at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in the 70s. As we approached Magic Kingdom, we were treated to audio from Roy O. Disney’s dedication speech for the grand opening of the park.

Our first stop inside the park was Town Square Theater where Mickey Mouse recently resumed meet and greets with Guests, now wearing his EARidescent finest. We bypassed the queue to meet Walt Disney’s most famous character.

Kelly pointed out some of the windows on Main Street U.S.A. that honor the people who helped secure the land for Walt Disney World, including this one with a nod to one of the aliases used to buy the land, “M. T. Lott.”

Everyone who visits Magic Kingdom gets to see Cinderella Castle, but very few people get to enter the living quarters. One of the big draws of this tour is the chance to go inside the Cinderella Castle Suite.

Furnished in 2007 as part of The Year of a Million Dreams, the suite is undergoing a few upgrades and so photos inside weren’t allowed, with the exception of a peek out the window at Fantasyland.

It was then time for lunch, which is included in the cost of the tour. Our order was taken before we sailed to Magic Kingdom so when we arrived at Be Our Guest Restaurant, our orders came out quickly. There was no limit to what we could order, including signature drinks in souvenir light-up goblets. For dessert, an assortment of cupcakes were delivered with a white chocolate rose full of “The Grey Stuff” (it’s delicious!).

The first ride of the day Pirates of the Caribbean , which came with the history of the attraction and how Guests were so upset that it wasn’t part of Magic Kingdom when the park opened that plans for the Western River Expedition were scrapped to make way for it. Next, we walked to Liberty Square for a ride aboard a Doom Buggy in The Haunted Mansion . But the “Real” chills came later.

By far, the best part of the tour was when we stepped off our Doom Buggies and were brought backstage to the side of the attraction. No photos were allowed so I have nothing to prove that I got to do this, but we were taken underneath the ride track to see the figures that appear in the ballroom sequence through a Pepper’s Ghost effect. A railing kept us far enough away from the figures to catch the light and be seen by Guests onboard the ride. It was not only cool to see them all up-close and in-person, but also to learn that Abraham Lincoln is seated at the dining table (a blue variation of the figure from The Hall of Presidents ), as is Carlos, the mayor being dunked in the well from Pirates , who is blowing out birthday candles rather than spitting out water. I get goosebumps just thinking about the fact that I got to go down there.

Another place we got to go down into was the Utilidors, also known as the “Tunnels.” We descended beneath Mickey’s Philharmagic  underneath Fantasyland and took a walk down the center divide back to Main Street U.S.A., coming up behind the Emporium and getting a look at the “Backside” of Jungle Cruise . No photos are allowed in backstage areas, so you’ll have to take my word for it.

We traveled to EPCOT  via Monorail, receiving our own private car on both the Magic Kingdom Express and EPCOT line. On the way into EPCOT, we were told that the Monorail slowed down just for us so we could get a longer view of all the work being done to transform Future World into World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature.

On the theme of traveling by sky, after getting off Disney’s “Highway in the sky,” we were brought to the new restaurant Space 220  for a snack. After ascending the elevator for an omnipotent view of Earth, we were treated to two of the restaurants signature menu items (Blue Moon Cauliflower and Centauri Burger sliders), two dessert samples (Chocolate Cheesecake and Carrot Cake), and our choice of signature mocktail (The Milky Way, Moon Rocks, or Lightyear Lemonade), each of which came with a pack of souvenir trading cards.

Following our return back to EPCOT, we went backstage to find the van waiting for us to drive us to Pixar’s version of Paris for a trip aboard the newest attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure , which opened with the start of “The Happiest Celebration on Earth.

After transitioning from mouse-height back to human-height, our last trip in the sky was aboard Disney’s Skyway to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, where the van was waiting to return us to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

As a special parting gift, we were gifted our very own Main Street Window, exclusive to this tour (one per party). It’s branded with the 50th Anniversary Tour, reminds us of our trip “Across Lands, Skies & Seven Seas,” and thanks us for taking the tour.

Walt Disney World ’s 50 th anniversary has officially kicked off, much to Disney goer’s delight. Now the resort is offering a new 50th Anniversary VIP Tour to add to the celebrations.

The private tour can accommodate up to 6 people (at least 12 years of age or older) in one party and comes with a knowledgeable and passionate Disney VIP tour guide to ferry the group via land, sky, and water through the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT , and the original Disney World accommodations- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground which opened the same year as the Magic Kingdom park- yup, 50 years ago in 1971.

Unlike a normal VIP Tour which costs $315 per hour- with a minimum of six hours booked- the 50 th Anniversary tour takes guests on a predetermined route, rather than giving the party access to ride almost anything that strikes their fancy.

The day of “unparalleled magical experiences” begins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground where VIP guests will be transported back in time and learn about the park and its accommodation’s humble beginnings before discovering and exploring the all-new Tri-Circle D Ranch.

Then, taking to the waterways, guests will be able to take in the views of the Disney Resorts Collection on their private charter boat to the ‘newly spruced for the anniversary’, Magic Kingdom park.

This is on top of the valid theme park admission that is required for each guest in the VIP tour party but not included in the cost. Park pass reservations will be secured at the time of booking.

Cancellations are free up until 72 hours before the scheduled tour. After that, a 20% fee will be incurred.

Full security screenings (including bag checks) should be expected during the Disney VIP Tour and guests should be prepared with their appropriate government-issued identification.

The taking of photographs is encouraged in non-backstage areas however no cameras, video equipment, or cellphones may be used while backstage and during other, certain portions of the special experience tour.

Most dietary restrictions can be easily accommodated but should be discussed at the time of booking. Guests will also be required to inform the server, chef, or manager of their special dietary requests upon arriving at the restaurant.

Teens are fully able to participate in ten tours but must be accompanied by at least one paying and participating parent or guardian.

The tours are provided in English, any other language requests should be made at the time of booking.

For those of us who can’t quite pay the hefty price tag of a VIP tour, there’s still plenty to discover now the “World’s Most Magical Celebration” has kicked off (as of October 1). Celebrations will continue across all four Disney World theme parks for 18 months with new entertainment offerings and “EARidescent” decorations. Cinderella Castle’s, Mickey Mouse, and even the cast members throughout the Disney resort have received an EARidescent makeover.

Of course, no one celebrates the big 5-0 without a party that lasts into the night, and what better way to wrap up the festivities each evening with a magnificent firework spectacular?

NEW 50th Anniversary VIP Tour Coming Soon to Disney World!

One the ways to add a truly special touch to your day at Disney World is by booking a V.I.P. Tour ! V.I.P. Tours give you special perks such as expedited wait times, behind-the-scenes access, and much more!

For Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration , a new, limited-time V.I.P. tour is available for booking with tours starting on October 26th!

The day starts with a trip to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground , which opened in 1971. There, guests will tour the Tri-Circle D Ranch and then depart on a private charter to Magic Kingdom.

Your afternoon at the Magic Kingdom includes lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant . That evening, guests will embark to EPCOT for a trip on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure along with a “finale moment befitting a magical day.”

If you’re interested in booking this 50th Anniversary V.I.P tour experience, you can call (407) 560-4033 for more information. Keep in mind that valid theme park admission with the Park Hopper option is required and not included in the price of the tour. Participating guests must be at least 12 years of age, and there is a strict 6-person maximum.

Has anyone else seen this tour advertised? It’s a special 50th anniversary tour, but the description is rather lacking, other than ride on Remy, meal at BOG, some kind of tour at Fort Wilderness. It starts on Oct 26th.

I got details today. It begins October 26, 2021 and runs for a limited time only (they couldn’t give me ending date). The 50th Anniversary Tour can span up to 8 hours and includes an active agenda that may include a tour of the utilidors & the Cinderella Suite inside Cinderella’s Castle (Subject to availability the day of the tour.) It has a set agenda & is not customizable. Up to 6 guests total & all guests must be at least 12 years of age to participate. This tour runs every day of the week but at only 3 times per day so availability is very limited. Blackout dates apply (like Thanksgiving & Christmas/NYE). Flat rate of $6500 plus tax regardless of date.

Teddy swims joining for a special one-night-only performance on opening night, three new dates added, general on sale for all shows begins friday, april 12 at 10am local on ticketmaster.com.

Today, four-time GRAMMY® award-winning and diamond-certified rock legends Aerosmith announce their return to the road with PEACE OUT™ featuring special guests The Black Crowes, who are fresh off their first release in nearly 15 years , HAPPINESS BASTARDS . Additionally, a very special one-night-only performance from Teddy Swims is set at the tour kickoff in Pittsburgh, PA. Fans first heard that one of the most significant American rock bands in history were embarking on their final tour with a special announcement video celebrating this not-to-be-missed final tour.

Every night will pay homage to the five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate over 50 years as America’s greatest rock band. In addition, THX will bring their THX Certified Live! high-fidelity experience on the road, calibrating each arena with leading-edge technology so fans don’t miss a beat of Aerosmith’s classic rock tunes in quality audio.

TICKETS: All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows. Ticketholders will receive more information via email today.

Tickets for the rescheduled dates and newly added shows are on sale Friday, April 12th at 10AM local time on ticketmaster.com .

Produced by Live Nation, the monumental 40-date North American tour will include 3 news shows in addition to the rescheduled dates. Lucinda Williams Announces 50th Anniversary Tour in 2024

A mericana legend Lucinda Williams just announced a 50th-anniversary tour of the US this year to celebrate her long and illustrious career! The brief tour will mostly span dates on the East Coast and will be quite different from your typical anniversary tour. Some dates will involve performances of Williams’ best work. Other dates will be immersive, multi-media experiences called “Don’t Tell Anybody The Secrets” which will involve songs, visuals, and stories that honor the singer/songwriter’s life and career. This isn’t a tour to miss!

The Lucinda Williams 2024 Tour will begin on June 8 in Plymouth, Minnesota at Hilde Performance Center with performances of her greatest hits. The brief tour will close on June 21 in Knoxville, Tennessee at Bijou Theatre with a multi-media experience show.

Tickets to the upcoming 50th-anniversary tour will be available through Williams’ website , where a presale event will kick off today. General on-sale will begin on April 12, except for the Knoxville date, which will go on sale April 19.

If there’s anything that can harsh the mellow of “Dead Heads,” it’s probably this.

On Tuesday, the founder of Skull & Roses, a Grateful Dead tribute festival that was set to be held in Ventura next weekend, announced it had been canceled. In the same announcement, it was noted that those who purchased tickets won’t get their money back.

“With deep sorrow I must inform you that SKULL & ROSES 6 has been canceled,” a statement signed by festival founder Chris Mitrovich reads in part. “In all transparency, the financial devastation of the 2023 show has made it impossible to sustain the weight of the new production.”

It was not immediately clear what the “financial devastation” relating to last year’s show was, but the 2024 show was canceled just 10 days before the first day was set to kick off. The festival had been held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds each year since it began in 2017.

While the news of the cancelation was likely bad enough for fans, the statement also informed ticket holders that they won’t be receiving refunds.

“While tickets and hotels were sold on a non-refundable basis, we sincerely wish that funds were available to refund all purchases,” the statement says. “Unfortunately, this is simply not the case at this time.”

According to the San Francisco Chronicle , tickets started at $60 for a single-day general admission pass and $600 for VIP.

Reddit users on the Grateful Dead subreddit report that they’ve been able to successfully refund tickets purchased through Eventbrite , a ticket sales website.

The three-day festival was set to include Grateful Dead-adjacent acts like Golden Gate Wingmen, Sage & Spirits and Dark Star Orchestra. It was not immediately clear if the scheduled acts would still be compensated.

Mitrovich said the future of the festival beyond 2024 was unclear.

While comments were turned off for the Instagram announcement of the cancellation, some Dead Heads on the Facebook post had strong words.

“So you sold tickets that you knew in advance you couldn’t honor. Why? So you could pay for last year,” said Jeff Cable. “Liars. Thieves.”

With the festival being a travel destination for some, the lost costs go further than just the price of tickets.

“So, what’s happening in Ventura that weekend,” said Stephen A. Collins Jr. “I still have a (non-refundable) plane ticket.”

Travis Kelce Wore a Sweet Nod to Taylor Swift at UC Graduation

The NFL star took the stage wearing Eras Tour friendship bracelets

Travis Kelce 's graduation day accessories subtly honored girlfriend Taylor Swift .

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, received their college diplomas at a “surprise commencement” ceremony at the University of Cincinnati on April 11. The duo took the stage during a live event for their podcast New Heights with Travis, 34, noticeably rocking a beaded bracelet reminiscent of the kind Swift’s fans famously exchange during the singer’s Eras Tour.

Both brothers have previously graduated from the university (Travis earned a degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2022 and Jason, 36, got a bachelor’s degree in marketing), but neither attended their commencement ceremonies at the time, per the Cincinnati Enquirer .

In a photo from the ceremony posted by the Cincinnati Bearcats on Instagram , Travis can be seen speaking into a microphone while red and white confetti falls around him. On his wrist are multiple bracelets, one of which looks very similar to the friendship bracelets that were swapped by fans during Swift’s tour. The bracelet appears to contain letter beads, but it’s not clear what it spells out.

This isn’t the first time Travis has gotten in on the Eras Tour bracelet trend. In fact, he attempted to give his own DIY design to Swift, 34, before they officially started dating. 

In February 2024, he was decked out in friendship bracelets while supporting Swift at her concert in Sydney, Australia. In a video posted on X , he can be seen standing in the VIP tent smiling toward the stage and dancing with beaded bracelets on both of his wrists.

Travis was also spotted in beaded bracelets at his brother’s NFL retirement press conference . In photos from the March 4 event, the football star wears three bracelets, including a beaded friendship bracelet with the name “Kelce” spelled out with letter beads.

Travis and Swift went public with their romance in September 2023 and in the months since, have supported each other for career milestones. The “Cruel Summer” singer cheered Travis on at multiple games throughout the past NFL season, including the Super Bowl, in which the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers. 

As Swift gears up for the European leg of her two-year Eras Tour, Travis is set to accompany her. An insider told PEOPLE that the pair “are making plans for the summer and are excited to travel together in Europe when Taylor takes her tour there."
