Background [ ]

In 2012, Cyrus announced plans to focus on her film career, effectively putting her musical endeavors on hiatus. That year, she appeared in the films LOL and So Undercover . She was also confirmed as a primary voice actress in the feature film Hotel Transylvania , but dropped out of the project to coordinate a musical comeback. In January 2013, Cyrus ended her recording contract with Hollywood Records, under which she released the albums Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus (2007), Breakout (2008), Can't Be Tamed (2010), and EP The Time of Our Lives (2009). Later that month, she signed a recording contract with RCA Records. In March, she confirmed that her fourth studio album would be released by the end of 2013.

The final product, Bangerz , was released on October 4, 2013. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 61, which indicates "generally favorable reviews", based on 21 reviews. It debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, having moved 270,000 units, and charted strongly in several countries worldwide. During her appearance on Today on October 7, Cyrus first mentioned her intentions to tour in 2014. On October 26, she made a surprise appearance on another episode of Saturday Night Live to officially announce the Bangerz Tour . Claire Atkinson from the New York Post reported that concert promoters Live Nation Entertainment and AEG Live engaged in much competition to promote the tour, with the former ultimately being selected to represent the North American leg after agreeing to pay Cyrus $500,000 per presentation.

On November 11, a series of three promotional videos were released to YouTube to promote the Bangerz Tour . Cyrus originally announced that The Blonds and Kenzo were enlisted as costume designers in December, although Roberto Cavalli was later confirmed for the position after six sketches of costume designs were released in January 2014. Cyrus began rehearsals later that month, at which time John Kricfalusi, creator of The Ren & Stimpy Show , was enlisted to create artwork and animation for the tour.

During a teleconference on July 30, 2014, Cyrus stated that the goal of the tour was to make something that was "really fun", "real" and had a "good energy about it". She further stated- "I think the best thing for an artist is to see people sing along to your songs, and also to have people participating in your show... this show is a really hard show to not want to get up and be involved... there's a feminist energy there, and if people enjoy taking a chance and coming to a show that's different, I really appreciate that. I hope my fans are kind of inspired by my show to take it to the next level."

Opening Acts [ ]

The three main opening acts of the tour were Icona Pop, Sky Ferreira and Lily Allen. Icona Pop praised Cyrus- "She's crazy and she's fun but that's her expressing herself on stage and in her music. But she's really a smart woman and everything on stage was her idea. She's the boss of everything and it's just very inspiring to be around someone who's having a lot of fun because she's doing stuff her way and with her friends and her crew, but in a very professional way." Ferreira stated- "I really like when she does the acoustic set [in her show]. I think that's kind of the biggest fuck-you to everyone who’s talked shit about her, because she has a really great voice. The whole show kind of shows everyone up. No one can deny it." Allen praised Cyrus and the tour, stating- "I saw it at the O2 in London [in May], and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best shows that I've seen in years... It's up there with an Oasis show or The Stone Roses or something. It's kind of incredible to watch -- she's a real force. There's no two ways about it, she's meant to be up there doing that." She also added that the Bangerz tour stage production was "impressive", but even without the bells and whistles, Cyrus would have been able to pull off an "unforgettable pop experience.

During the first performance in Vancouver on February 14, 2014, the Bangerz Tour commenced with pre-recorded black-and-white footage of a partially dressed Cyrus making several poses while wearing sexual bondage, with the track "Fitzpleasure" by Alt-J playing in the background. This footage was released separately on May 1, 2014, during which time Cyrus was recovering from an allergic reaction that consequently delayed the tour; as a short film called "Miley Cyrus: Tongue Tied" with the track "Stockholm Syndrome" by 30s featuring Zoee instead of Fitzpleasure. The footage concluded with a close-up of her face; Cyrus entered the stage from a slide that appeared where her tongue would be located. She was dressed in a red leotard. The show began with " SMS (Bangerz) " joined by "the cast of furry friends and cartoon characters dancing merrily on stage" alongside her, followed by " 4x4 ". Following a brief costume change to a green marijuana-inspired outfit, she re-appeared singing " Love, Money, Party "; she rode on a golden sport utility vehicle (SUV), before a puppet of the track's featured artist Big Sean was unveiled to rap his verse. Cyrus later jumped off of the SUV as it was driving down the stage and threw money notes featuring her face into the audience.

Afterwards " My Darlin' " and " Maybe You're Right " were performed. Cyrus returned to the stage in a red leather outfit to perform " FU " and a country version of " Do My Thang " and " Get It Right " while pictures of candy representing female genitalia were projected onto the screen. Cyrus later appeared in a black and white feathered outfit to perform " Can't Be Tamed ", while accompanied by an enormous replica of her dog, Floyd. A kiss cam was featured during the performance of " Adore You ". The arena was filled with swirling blue lasers as she delivered "Drive", and later segued into performances of "Rooting for My Baby", country music cover versions of "Hey Ya!" by Outkast and "Jolene" by Dolly Parton. The show continued with the track " 23 " by Mike Will Made It (in which Cyrus was a featured artist), followed by "On My Own" where she danced with dancers dressed as colorful animals, and "Someone Else" where she rode a flying giant hot dog above the audience. She finished the show with her single "We Can't Stop" in a white outfit with dancers in foam fingers outfits, inspired by her VMA performance and "Wrecking Ball" from Bangerz. For the encore she came back on stage on a blue-red outfit wearing a wig and a cowboy hat for and American inspired performance of "Party in the U.S.A.". The show for Latin America and New Zealand were modified, the entire show was not included and there was a reduction in the size of the stage, but with the same shape.

Critical Reception [ ]

After Cyrus' premiere performance, the Bangerz Tour received generally favorable reviews from critics. Victoria Pavlova from Contact Music spoke favorably of Cyrus' stage presence and wardrobe, and stated that her entrance was "enough to recommend the show right there." Mike Wass from Idolator described the performance as being "weird and wonderful" and jokingly called it the musical version of the film Spring Breakers (2012). He appreciated that she "[owned] all her headline-grabbing antics from 2013 (the twerking, that foam finger and those skimpy outfits)" and mainly performed tracks from Bangerz, although he was more critical of her vocal delivery during the slower tracks and the inclusion of "filler" songs, which he felt "[didn't] quite cut it." Writing for Rolling Stone, Denise Sheppard noted that "the fact that there really wasn't anything jaw-droppingly shocking about the entire night" was the most unexpected component of the concert, and felt that Cyrus achieved her goal of being viewed as a legitimate singer instead of primarily receiving attention for her controversial behavior. She also opined that "her taste in other people's music is quite impressive", commending the uses of "Fitzpleasure", "Jolene", and "Hey Ya!".

Jane Stevenson from the Toronto Sun praised Cyrus' performance, writing, "Cyrus seemed dead serious about having some very colorful fun for two hours. She opened her show sliding down a giant pink tongue extended from her gaping mouth on an enormous video screen that showed her pretty face in all its blue-eyed, blond-cropped hair glory... It was a real spectacle." Shawn Conner from USA Today wrote that Cyrus' performance proved that "the time has come to move the conversation [...] beyond the notorious move she pulled on Robin Thicke at last year's MTV Video Music Awards"; he spoke favorably of the on-screen visuals seen alongside Cyrus and appreciated that she did not lip sync along pre-recorded tracks. Conner also opined that "Cyrus has the charisma and maybe the smarts to be the post-Madonna Madonna", and added that she appeared to be "approachable, on- and off-stage, in a way that Madonna never did." However, in a more mixed review, Francois Marchand from The Vancouver Sun provided a more negative review; he suggested that Cyrus was "a pop artist in a shiny, attention-grabbing wrapper", and that the performance was neither "the evolution of pop, female empowerment, [or] mindless fun", but rather "capitalism at work". Sam Lansky writing for TIME magazine praised the singer's performance in Brooklyn calling her one of the "most dynamic performers of her generation." Adam Graham from The Detroit News gave a positive review of the performance in Auburn, writing the show "is like a blast of confetti to the face, a dizzying, non-stop party that leaves you reeling and questioning what you just saw."

On July 30, 2014 John J. Moser of The Morning Call included the tour in his list of Top 3 Concerts alongside tours by Billy Joel and Katy Perry stating "...Miley shockers these days are about her topless desert photos and cameo in Pharrell's newest video. That doesn't mean the show's not still worth seeing."Glenn Gamboa of the Newsday praised the show and Cyrus' vocals, writing "...She then proceeded to take on Bob Dylan’s "You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go", The Smiths’ "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out", Lana Del Rey’s "Summertime Sadness" "and Dolly Parton’s "Jolene" with no special effects or choreographed moves – just her powerful voice. That she can get an arena filled with teens and young adults to sing along with Dolly Parton’s country hit from 1973 speaks to the power of Cyrus. And, for the most part, during this version of the Bangerz tour, she uses that power for good." Kelly Roncace of the South Jersey Times reviewed the show positively, writing, "While Miley has been surrounded by some controversy since her transformation from child star to a less inhibited adult performer, the artist's raw talent and ability to entertain was evident from the first note of the show to the last." Dan DeLuca of The Philadelphia Inquirer, also gave a positive review, writing, "... she was straightforward and serious minded when it came to augmenting her own material - she performed all of Bangerz, plus two older hits, "Can't Be Tamed" and "Party in the U.S.A." - with a selection of covers designed to challenge herself. The show is also funny, and doesn't come off as pre-programmed and scripted as most over the top arena spectacles... that unpredictable eclecticism is just a broad stroke representation of the new genre-jumping normal, and it's from some combination of those elements that Cyrus will become a new Someone Else." Scott Mervis of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette praised the show and Cyrus' vocals, calling it an "over-the-top dance-pop extravaganza with a wacky sense of humor, artful musical gestures and a big-voiced playful star who seemed thrilled to be there." Théoden Janes of The Charlotte Observer praised the show, writing, "Beneath all the audaciousness was a fair amount of awesomeness. Cyrus didn’t lip-synch a word. Her voice was both flexible and appropriately raw. Throughout, she managed to come across as gracious and accessible, bantering with fans and accepting pretty much any gift that came her way." Chris Talbott of the Star Tribune provided a positive review, opining that Cyrus showed her growing prowess as an entertainer during the show. He also praised Cyrus' vocal delivery and called the show a "real spectacle." A critic from the Nashville Scene praised the show and Cyrus' strong vocal delivery. He further commented on the show's theme, writing, "It was an impressive pop-culture aggregation and the entire production was like a party scene from an over-serious 90s movie about a future dystopia...The thing about Miley Cyrus is that she’s a genuinely beautiful woman unafraid of making herself look like a total goober: it’s hard not to be charmed by that." Blake Hannon provided a positive review, praising Cyrus' powerful vocal delivery and calling the show a "campy, cartoonishly over-the-top spectacle and musical showcase that was unforgettable... You can't help but admire (or scratch your head at) the girl's go-big-or-go-home approach." Kevin C. Johnson of St. Louis Post-Dispatch provided a favorable review, praising Cyrus' "solid and consistent" vocal delivery and calling the show a "silly and entertaining spectacle."

Bad-Girl Pop Idol Is All Heart

bangerz tour dancers

By Jon Pareles

  • April 4, 2014

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Miley Cyrus moved through the paces of her “Bangerz” tour when it played the Izod Center here on Thursday night. She danced with furry animals and twerking showgirls. She grinned through drug references and curse words. She sang about feeling sexy; she sang about dumping a guy who cheated. She splayed her legs and grabbed her crotch. And she juggled visual and musical elements of hip-hop, pop and country, as if they were all the same to her, as they may well be. But few people expected the tears.

Ms. Cyrus announced on Tuesday on Twitter that her beloved dog, Floyd, had died, and through the concert — often as she introduced anthemic love songs like “My Darlin’ ” and “Adore You” — she spoke about her sense of loss and asked her audience to “be there for me a little bit extra.” She added, “I will try to be as much fun as I can possibly be.”

Yet when she relocated to the back of the arena to sing other people’s songs on a small stage — a regular part of the show — tears streamed down her cheeks as she performed Bob Dylan’s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” and Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness.” She apologized for what the crying was doing to her voice, but she didn’t need to. Her audience — mostly teenage and at least 90 percent female — offered nothing but support.

They had come to see a lighthearted bad girl whose songs promise she’s “crazier than hell” and insist, “It’s our party, we can do what we want to.” Many had arrived with their hair in two topknots, the style Ms. Cyrus flaunted when she performed her lascivious duet with Robin Thicke on the MTV Video Music Awards last year. On the evidence of her arena crowds, Ms. Cyrus, for all her raunch and bravado and tight unitards, isn’t attracting the male gaze; instead, she’s a heroine for women who want a good time on their own terms. But for this concert, Ms. Cyrus the pop cartoon became a hurting human being.

The show went on. Ms. Cyrus flaunted her success, her body, her voice and her conspicuous-consumption production values, with costume changes every few songs. Her voice is tangy and strong, though not subtle; it can be bratty or mournful or torchy, and her performance revealed both its power and its imperfections while she made her fashion statements.

She wore a gold-and-green marijuana-patterned outfit — with leafy matching sunglasses — for the bling-minded “Love Money Party,” which had her arriving with open legs on the hood of a gold-painted car, and finishing the song by flinging what looked like money to the crowd. For “Do My Thang,” which rides a hip-hop track on her “Bangerz” album, the band switched early in the song to a foot-stamping hoedown beat, while her dance troupe — including a woman who towered over Ms. Cyrus and one who was half her height — stamped their feet in cowgirl outfits.

In her lusty “#GetItRight,” she shared a large bed with her dancers, embracing in multiple configurations; her punk-pop “Can’t Be Tamed” featured a towering, three-dimensional dog resembling Floyd. For the last encore, “Party in the U.S.A.,” American symbols — Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, dancers masked as presidents — were just toys for Ms. Cyrus.

Propriety, temperance and dignified patriotism were fodder for Ms. Cyrus’s spectacle, but she didn’t bring a sense of malice or subversion to her show — only some playful, trivial ways to push cultural hot buttons. And at this concert, the mild provocations seemed especially superficial. For the evening, the 21-year-old singer in the spotlight became a trouper with a heart.

Miley's "Bangerz" Tour Will Save the Young Women of America

Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" tour shows young women that it's okay to be brazen and audacious.

If you still believe Miley Cyrus is just a rebel without a cause, then you’re not paying enough attention.

I’m reading this book right now, Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk . It’s 446 pages of testimony from the people who engineered the movement that redefined rock, and in between the accounts of drug binges and depraved sex, they talk about music. After seeing the Bangerz tour, this quote from Patti Smith won’t leave my brain:

{ "id": 135015411 } “Physical presentation in performing is more important than what you’re saying. If your quality of intellect is high, and your love of the audience is evident, and you have a strong physical presence, you can get away with anything.”

Last night, at the Izod Center in New Jersey, Miley Cyrus got away with everything.

Before even setting foot in the arena, the parking lot was already affirmation of Miley’s enormous influence on youth culture. After reading enough thinkpieces where adults argue about the credibility of her act, one almost forgets that her core fan base is teenage girls—but they were out in droves, most of them emulating their idol to a tee.

bangerz tour dancers

The situation was initially alarming, and briefly uncomfortable. You’d see a pack of girls not even old enough for driver’s permits show up in an SUV chauffeured by someone’s mother and hop out with lipstick, cut-off shorts, and bare midriffs. I never lost sight of the fact that I was one of the oldest and blackest people at the concert, but I did change my tune on the appropriateness of the attendees’ attire. Conservative media wants you to believe that Miley’s a bad influence because she’s comfortable with her body and sings about MDMA, but as a teen, I was influenced by male artists who said and did much worse and it was rarely questioned.

If anything, Miley Cyrus is liberating. She’s a young woman encouraging girls to own their sexuality (as opposed to the traditional role of being reactive to male sexual development), and that’s cool. Sometimes it’s contrived when dudes are super feminist, and I’m not trying to be that as much as I’m just a fan of progress. Before a single song was played, I saw progress in the audience last night. While scouring the concessions for beer (this was clearly not the type of show where I’d find someone in my row rolling a blunt like I had at Kid Cudi weeks prior), I asked one mom, Kathy Trela, for her take on the entire spectacle:

“I’m totally okay with it. It’s part of growing. My kids danced since they were two. It’s about performing and controlling the audience at the age that she’s at, and if you don’t appreciate art then you won’t appreciate her. I’m an ‘80s girl, so to me she’s our Madonna of the new era. My daughters know it’s a performance and this is not how you conduct yourself on the street. It’s part of being an artist and it individualizes everybody.”
{ "id": 135015414 } She’s a young woman encouraging girls to own their sexuality (as opposed to the traditional role of being reactive to male sexual development), and that’s cool

I’ve seen a lot of superstars perform, and the crowd always goes crazy when the artist hits the stage, but it’s usually an older, more gender diverse crowd that cheers with a “happy to be here” excitement. There was something uniquely compelling about watching a 21-year-old woman play to a crowd of women who idolize her. There you had a woman who’s been shamed and scapegoated by so many facing a packed stadium of admirers, and she repeatedly expressed gratitude for their support. That’s where the whole Patti Smith “your love of the audience is evident” thing comes in, because then it’s more than a show; it’s a personal connection where boundaries are broken and vulnerabilities are on display, and you can get away with anything.

In Miley’s case, she bounced her ass on a green hooptie. She grabbed her crotch while surrounded by dwarfs and exclusively black dancers. She cried over the death of her dog. She encouraged “two fucking hot girls” to make out with each other during “Adore You.” She ranted about how Bob Dylan and The Flaming Lips inspire her. She spit water on the crowd. Marijuana and promethazine/codeine imagery decorated her stage. None of that would produce a scandal here. This was an environment where Miley could let her guard down and she let us know that, saying, “I’ve been told I’m a little sick and twisted, but somehow this makes me feel better.”

It wasn’t just spectacle, though. Miley Cyrus has hits, and from an objective standpoint, she can really fucking sing. This wasn’t your bubblegum pop, lip-synching extravaganza of yore. Sure, she soared through the air on a huge, aggressively phallic hot dog, but she also belted through those octaves on “Do My Thang” with an impressive degree of professionalism. It was funny, then, to run into this bro who wasn’t sold on Miley’s talents—apparently he’d been subjected to the concert by force—and was being extremely vocal about it in the bathroom.

In a desperate attempt to bond with the boys, this guy at the urinal starts talking, apropos of nothing, to everyone in the vicinity: “I wish it was football season. I wish I was pissing at MetLife stadium. How many of you are here because of your fucking girlfriends?”

And it was like, I get what you’re doing. You feel the need to assert your masculinity in this setting because the performer was on Disney and there are mostly girls and flamboyant gay dudes in attendance and you can’t handle it. But no one cares; grow the fuck up. It was just so lame and basic to me. It’s these dudes in their backwards frat caps and boot-cut jeans who reinforce the paranoia and patriarchy that facilitates the harassment of a woman like Miley Cyrus. If you’re going to do random bathroom interactions, be like the guy at that Cudi concert I was talking about who was in there raving about “Internal Bleeding” to anyone who’d listen. Keep it positive.

Back in my seat, it was all positive. Watching thousands of people lose their shit to “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball” and “Party in the USA” reminds you that those songs are massive, important anthems. They’re cultural touchstones. They’re the songs that we’ll be telling kids about the same way some girl’s dad talked to me about seeing Bruce Springsteen 30 years ago. I appreciated how so many parents at the show seemed to understand this, because the way things are framed, they’re supposed to be Miley’s biggest opponents. But no. On the way out, I caught up with another mom, 42-year-old Nancy Page, and she had this to say:

“I get it. I love it. She’s breaking away from Hannah Montana and being who she was meant to be, not who someone’s making her out to be. She feels like expressing herself. It’s the job we do at home. My daughter knows that when Miley’s rolling around on the bed and touching herself that it’s inappropriate and just for entertainment, but I still love it. Kids know those words are bad and it’s just for fun. You know what’s right.”

I want women to be brazen and audacious because that passive, subservient shit that civilization has been trying to cast on them for centuries is ancient and boring. Build an empire, curse some motherfuckers out, and piss off everyone in the proximity in the process. Miley Cyrus has done it expertly and I enjoyed her show, because I know that after watching her do whatever she wants on the Bangerz tour, at least a few thousand girls will stop letting boys have all the fun and go do the same.

Everything you need to know about Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour

Profile picture of Noelle Faulkner

A month into her Bangerz tour, Miley Cyrus continues to shock and awe audiences all over North America, riding flying hot dogs, climbing on cars, makin’ it rain, and twerking alongside twisted fluffy animals.

Love her or hate her, Cyrus is the very definition of an icon in the making – she’s daring, creative, fearless, artistic, and, as proven so far, a trendmaker. Plus, she’s actually an incredibly talented singer. While not everyone may get her vision, which is fine, it’s engaging to say the least. And what’s pop music if there’s no entertainment factor?

So while we look on via our Instagram feeds and pray for an Australian tour announcement, here’s everything you need to know about the crotch grabbing, money throwing, sexed-up show that brings all her best qualities to a head. #BANGERZ

She has some pretty swag costume designers on board Not only did Miley Cyrus buy up some Bob Mackie (the king of sparkles, most famous for his designs worn by Liberace and Cher) but she also enlisted Roberto Cavalli, Marc Jacobs, Jeremy Scott and The Blondes for her costumes.

Miley collaborated with Ren & Stimpy creator John K In an actual genius collaboration idea, Miley entered 90s nostalgia-brilliance and called on iconic madcap animator, purveyor of grotesque toilet humour and the man behind Ren and Stimpy, John K, to create a series of crass animated caricatures for the visuals on her Bangerz tour. Check out more John K x Miley here.

Official merch included plush 24-karat cigarette papers Aside from nail transfers, underwear and a “Marry Me Miley” t-shirt, the tour merch stand also offered official BANGERZ packets of bling 24-karat gold cigarette papers that cost a neat $40 a pop. Interestingly, the fine print on the rollies states “Not for use with tobacco, only legal smoking herbs.” Which leads us to our next point…

Miley flaunts her herbal vices. At one point in the night Miley, er, thrusted, against a dancer dressed as a giant joint while her other dancers pranced around dressed as cigarette lighters. She also wasn’t very subtle when she spanked herself atop a gold car, rolled in cash and wore a cannabis leaf print leotard and dollar sign diamante boots.

There was a tongue slide Poking fun at herself (and making a clear brand statement) Miley made her entrance through a giant tongue slide.

And celebrity appearances. Sort of. At one point Miley performed a “tribute” to Monica Lewinsky with a dancer dressed as a bobbleheaded Bill Clinton and another time dancers rocked Britney Spears masks. In LA Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips jumped up to do a duet and Katy Perry was front row, so that counts.

Arguably the biggest star of the show: Amazon Ashley Amazon Ashley is a 6-foot 7-inch burlesque star from Los Angeles who claims she taught Miley how to twerk. Ashley made a cameo in that VMA performance and also her We Can’t Stop video. She makes several appearances on stage, one of which involves butt slapping, natch.

With Madonna-inspired visuals, the twerking talent accessorizes her nearly two-hour Bangerz tour set with a midget, kiss-cam and giant hot dog.

Miley Cyrus Bangerz Tour: Concert Review

Miley Cyrus Concert - P 2014

Hannah Montana is officially dead. Miley Cyrus sent that message out loud and clear last summer with the twerk seen around the world at MTV’s Video Music Awards. Now, on her Bangerz tour — which stopped at the Honda Center on Thursday and hits Staples Center Saturday — the one-time Disney Channel child star is twerking on her TV alter-ego’s grave with a completely over-the-top, nearly two-hour show.

While it’s wildly entertaining, the circus-like atmosphere threatened to eclipse Cyrus’ talent at times. And make no mistake, though the 21-year-old Nashville-born singer may be primarily known as a provocateur these days, she has real talent as both a singer and a pop culture scholar who is happily borrowing bits from various influences — to the delight of her teen fans and the outrage of others.

Mexico's platino awards reveal roster of performers, miley cyrus stars and sings in dolce & gabbana's sensual new eyewear campaign.

On Thursday, the third date of the tour, fans arriving at Honda Center were greeted with religious protesters holding signs with Bible verses and one that read, “The Teachings of Smiley Virus Will Wreck Your Life.” A moment on the earlier dates featuring Cyrus “Lewinsky-ing” a dancer with a Bill Clinton mask, wasn’t featured in Anaheim, perhaps due to reports that the controversy had softened the demand for tickets.

Yet for all the shock-and-awe talk, Cyrus isn’t actually doing anything more outrageous than her idol Madonna did years ago. In fact, one racy black-and-white video montage — which upped Cyrus’ hipster quotient by having Alt-J’s “Fitzpleasure” as its soundtrack — seemed clearly inspired by Madonna’s S&M-themed “Justify My Love.” Of course, Madonna was a full-grown woman when she shocked the world, while Cyrus has only recently transitioned from a clean-cut teen star to a down-and-dirty sex kitten who clearly takes pleasure in pushing people’s buttons.

STORY: Miley Cyrus’ ‘Bangerz’ Tour: 8 Things to Expect

And just in case the occasional twerk isn’t causing enough controversy, Cyrus also employs a bevy of dancers, including a midget and — by comparison — a giant African-American woman, as well as props that would make the Rolling Stones and the Beastie Boys proud, or possibly horrified. Late in the show, during the song “Someone Else,” Cyrus rode a giant hot dog suspended from the rafters in a move that came off more like a promotion for Pink’s hot dogs than a comparable act to fellow pop star Pink’s Cirque de Soleil-like acrobatics. “Love Party Money” had Cyrus writhing on a gold mini-4×4 vehicle like she was Tawny Kaitaen in an old Whitesnake video.

The show began with a gigantic image of Cyrus’ face on a video screen, with its eyes rolling. Finally, with a wink, the mouth opened to reveal a tongue-like slide to deliver Cyrus to the stage. From there, she went right into “SMS (Bangerz)” with a crew of eight dancers, and four others dressed as plush stuffed animals who could have escaped from a Flaming Lips gig.

STORY: Miley Cyrus on Jingle Ball Backlash: ‘I Don’t Give a Shit, I’m Not Disney’

For “#GETITRIGHT,” Cyrus frolicked on a giant bed as both female and male dancers, dressed in nighties and boxers, respectively, emerged from the covers for a faux orgy that was more ridiculously cute than scandalous.

Throughout the show, Cyrus went through enough costume changes to rival Cher , whose Bob Macke -designed clothes served as an inspiration, including a revealing red ringmaster getup she wore to open the show. She also donned a few variations of revealing chaps, including a Chicago Bulls-inspired red-and-black set that she wore to perform “23,” the ode to Michael Jordan from producer Mike Will Made It .

But at times, all the bells and whistles were a bit too much. Before the ballad “Adore You,” Cyrus encouraged the crowd to kiss with “the more tongue, the better” when the camera panned their way. Those images, splashed on screen in the middle of what appeared to be an engagement ring, were like a kiss-cam on steroids with some awkward girl-on-girl action from friends clearly performing for the camera, as well as some enthusiastic man-on-man tongue-lashing. While it made for an interesting voyeuristic experience, it distracted from what could have been the emotional high-point of the show, with Cyrus delivering a soaring vocal in a song which is believed to be about former fiance, actor Liam Hemsworth , penned before they split.

VIDEO: Inside Miley Cyrus’ ‘MTV Unplugged’: Gingham Gimp Suits and Getting Nasty With Madonna

The semi-acoustic segment, in which Cyrus and the band magically appeared on the other side of the arena while the crowd with entertained with a video, was also hit-and-miss. A cover of OutKast’s “Hey Ya” fell flat, zapped of the original’s energy, but of course it allowed Cyrus the opportunity to “shake it like a Polaroid picture.” Much better was her take on her godmother Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Unfortunately, the video screen wasn’t working during that song, leaving Cyrus with her back to much of the crowd.

Before it was all over, Cyrus busted out her biggest hits as encores, “We Can’t Stop,” “Wrecking Ball” and “Party in the USA.” While the former and latter were delivered with her outrageously costumed dancers and video screens in full effect, Cyrus sang “Wrecking Ball” on a bare stage, before her band eventually rose up to join her. It was then that her true talents as a vocalist could be appreciated. Hopefully, next time around, Cyrus will turn the shock and awe down just a few notches and allow her vocals more time to shine.

Ride-or-die Smilers already know, but if you aren't up in Twitter search, looking for the latest update on Miley Cyrus ' Bangerz Tour every week, you're missing out on an always changing and growing and constantly entertaining pop show. Along with a grip of glittering new designer togs cycling in week after week, Miles changes up her acoustic set almost every show to keep the variety. With less than a month left of the U.S. leg of her tour, it seems there are still a few surprises up Miley's sleeve. We were lucky enough to catch up with Diane Martel , the tour's creative director and the "We Can't Stop" music director, to get the inside scoop on the weird and wonderful world of Bangerz.

MTV STYLE: How would you define your ole for the Bangerz Tour? What attracted you to the project and what do you oversee?

DIANE MARTEL: Everything about this project was attractive. It was an extraordinary challenge to create a show that is deliberately over-stimulating with an eye on 2014 pop art/culture, while allowing for moments that are simple and heartfelt.

Unlike other people who direct tours, I am a film director, so I took on two roles here. I creative directed and directed the live show with Miley, and I creative directed, co-directed, conceived, and co-produced all of the video content. This was the most challenging job I've had to date. To answer the question, I oversaw every element of the tour from the stage show to the tour book. I have Miley to thank for allowing me the freedom to investigate live performance in this massive way. I think the show is a success and I am proud of it.

Miley's tongue slide on the Bangerz Tour.

How did you and Miley collaborate on creative for the tour? Tells us about the process.

I put together a very specific collection of references, a giant treatment, and showed it to Miley. She added her ideas to mine, and I began working on the tour. We would have meetings every few weeks for me to check in with her to get her approval or comments. It was important for us to create a show that she could play any way she wanted to and that would stay fresh for a long run.

How has the Bangerz Tour changed since its kick-off in February?

Every few weeks, I check back in and her performance has evolved. Miley has massive charisma on stage, she has the chops of a much older, seasoned performer from a bygone era. Her nuanced and spontaneous reactions while mid-song are spot on. Her showbiz banter is solid gold, and she speaks to this generation of fans in very certain terms. Conceiving and creating this show was very comfortable. It used all of my skills. I was a dancer and a choreographer, and I grew up around the theater. My uncle was the eminent theater producer Joseph Papp , so I learned aesthetics from the best of the best directors, actors, writers and designers. I hired fantastic creatives. Es Devlin, the production designer who gives TED talks . Rich and Tone Talauaga , who choreographed several of Madonna ’s tours. Miley's production team is first class. Her band is fantastic. Our dancers were very carefully chosen. As performers, they each have an authentic voice.

Miley riding her giant hot dog on the Bangerz Tour.

We love the hilarious self-aware absurdity of the giant tongue slide and flying hot dog!

The set delivers many surprises: Miley enters and exits through the opening of the set, a giant inflatable Floyd (her dog) comes through the set, as does a giant monkey designed by Ben Jones.

A giant Floyd—RIP :(—on the Bangerz Tour.

Photo: Splash News

I had a photo of a door with clouds around it and Miley wanted to end the show flying through this door, waving. For her it was a reference to the Truman Show . Her flying through that door is quite a personal metaphor. The content was inspired by hundreds of things, too many to name.

Recently, I’ve brought along a two-man horse, which Lisa Katnic made into a gingham two-man horse with a tongue. We added this horse to the second number, " 4x4 ," and inside the horse are two of Miley’s best friends, Cheyne and Lisa. Things are still coming together, there is a DENIM CHICKEN in the works. Miley will also sing different songs on the C stage each night and have special guests.

All gingham everything.

She is on a massive gingham kick right now. I knew I would love her for life when I called her and said I wanted "4x4" to have gingham content and she agreed. She takes things and runs. She is very intense and has a ton of ideas. I’ve seen her grow since we met on the " We Can't Stop " video shoot. Miley Cyrus is evolving every week, she will be around forever, she loves music to her core and she’s a true free spirit.

Photo: John K Stuff

And finally, how did the collaboration with [ Ren & Stimpy creator] John Kricfalusi come about? How and where do we see it manifest in the show?

Lisa Katnic showed me his fantastic Bjork video . I called him and asked him to do the opening cartoon. Working with him and speaking to him was a high point.

Miley Cyrus is currently on tour . She plays Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Saturday, April 5.

Miley Cyrus reveals she 'didn't make a dime' on her 2014 Bangerz Tour — but she’s now worth a whopping $160M. How to use the megastar’s simple approach to supercharge your own net worth

M iley Cyrus’ 2014 tour for her platinum album “Bangerz” brought the pop star into a notorious era of sexy songs, obsessive twerking and outrageous costumes. But it also taught Cyrus a valuable lesson.

“The ‘Bangerz’ tour was an investment in myself,” she says in her new TikTok series. “I didn’t make a dime on this tour.”

  • Let US retail giants like Walmart, Whole Foods, and Kroger provide YOU with passive income — become a 'grocery landlord' with this 1 simple move
  • Cost-of-living in America is still out of control — use these 3 'real assets' to protect your wealth today , no matter what the US Fed does or says
  • These 5 magic money moves will boost you up America's net worth ladder in 2024 — and you can complete each step within minutes. Here's how

The tour was a departure from her titular nice girl role on the Disney channel’s “Hannah Montana” and country-pop songs like “Party in the U.S.A.”, so investors weren’t exactly lining up to pay for this good-girl-gone-bad extravagance. But Cyrus knew they were missing out.

“Whenever anyone kept saying, ‘Why are you doing this? You’re going to do 100 shows and you’re not going to make any money,’” she says. “I said, ‘There’s no one I would rather invest in than myself.’”

Celebrity Net Worth says Cyrus’ total value is $160 million, so it would appear her risk paid off.

Here’s how you can also invest in yourself to boost your net worth to platinum status.

Focus on your interests

Warren Buffet and Bill Gates agree that there’s no better investment than focusing on your passions.

“The thing you do obsessively between age 13 and 18, that's the thing you have the most chance of being world-class at,” Gates told Charlie Rose in a 2016 television interview.

Even if you’re well past 17, not all hope is lost. In her TikTok series , Cyrus talks about how she loved to sing and dance from a young age. That obsession led her to become one of the world’s biggest pop stars and the corresponding boost to her net worth.

So ask yourself: What do I love? What am I good at? What do I do in my spare time? The investment in that passion or hobby could be your ticket to millionaire status.

Invest in your passion wisely

Some say passion doesn’t pay the bills — but Dave Ramsey disagrees . The personal finance expert argues that you can take the money you earn from your passion and use it to build up your income even more.

Cyrus did just that. She used the money from her Disney days to create outlandish costumes and gimmicks for her “Bangerz” tour.

The 2014 concert series brought in $62.9 million, according to Pollstar – 70% more than Taylor Swift’s concert tour in the same year.

Read more: Generating 'passive income' through real estate is the biggest myth in investing — here’s how you can do it in as little as 5 minutes

Though Cyrus says she made no money from the tour, it helped eventually boost the sales of the “Bangerz” album to over three million copies sold, making it a triple platinum record.

You can be like Miley. Whether you invest a small amount every month to grow your portfolio or decide to finally take that class to add or refresh your skills, you can take short-term costs and turn them into long-term gains.

Save for the future

Once you know what you want to do and how you can make money from it, all you have to do is do it. But sometimes you need some extra cash to get yourself started.

Cyrus is a good example of this. She says in her TikTok series that her “Bangerz” era life felt like “The Truman Show” because the paparazzi were constantly hounding her. So she was determined to end her “Bangerz” tour by reenacting the movie’s famous scene of Jim Carrey riding a massive hot dog.

“A lot of these ideas were so outlandish that no one wanted to support me,” she says.

Although she was only 20 at the time, Cyrus had the foresight to spend her own money now and reap the rewards later.

She dipped into her own funds and financed the giant hotdog, and the whole tour herself. This was Cyrus’ major transition from Disney star to worldwide pop sensation. Without this investment, she may have never made that huge leap.

You can create a “self-investment” fund to make your dreams come true.

When you decide that you must go to that industry conference or invest in a power suit, you can dip into this fund.

When in doubt, just remember Miley’s iconic mantra: “We can’t stop, we won’t stop.”

It’s a blustery spring afternoon in San Francisco, and we are gathered for one of the first-ever behind the scenes tours of that Gothic wonder, Grace Cathedral .

It may look like a grand flourish sitting atop Nob Hill, but the cathedral is still under construction — as you’ll discover now that these tours have opened to the public. Built in 1862, the original structure was destroyed during the 1906 earthquake and ensuring fire. Construction began on the current cathedral in 1927.

Today, the vaulting near the ceiling is unfinished and some statue niches remain empty. “It has been said that a great cathedral is never finished, words that echo the unfinished work of the Spirit,” says Julie Knight, director of cultural membership and visitor experience. Grace will one day be completed, but in the meantime it holds all sorts of neat fundraising activities. There are concerts devoted to the music of Nintendo and Hayao Miyazaki movies , yoga atop its labyrinths, sound baths and now, architectural tours like this new exploration of historic rooms, hidden passageways and ancient artifacts.

Our guide today is Kenn Sparks who, with a trimmed beard and rumbling basso, has the presence of an Orson Welles.

We stand in the cavernous central hall of the cathedral, which has massive organ pipes in front and also in back. If it didn’t, there’d be a quarter-second sound delay, and the front part of the congregation would be singing earlier than the back rows – presumably annoying god.

Up on a mezzanine is what looks like a child’s toy piano. If a child actually played it, though, the results might cause a public emergency. The keys link to dozens of bells in the tower, including a six-ton one that rings the hours. The bells clang to celebrate World Series and Super Bowl wins and other commemorations. Sometimes after service, musicians like to noodle on the keyboard, playing popular songs like “Over the Rainbow” and “I Left my Heart in San Francisco.”

We enter an ambulatory or hidden passageway located behind the altar. Clergy use this shadowy hallway during services to scurry from one side of the church to the other. A number of beautiful stained-glass windows point toward the Anglican Churches of the Pacific Basin, from New Zealand to Taiwan to Japan.

Now we’re inside the vestry, which is paneled entirely in ornate walnut and smells like a classy antique shop. This is where the California bishop (currently Marc Handley Andrus) keeps a private camp to pray and store liturgical vestments. We observe a bible open to Ezekiel: 35 (“I lay your towns in ruins; you shall become a desolation, and you shall know that I am the LORD”) and run our fingers through the bishop’s cloaks – not sure if his eminence would approve of this, but he’s not here right now. The vestments are all hand-sewn, and a member of our group jokes she has a friend who became a bishop “only for the clothes.”

Next up is the Chapel of Grace. This small chapel is normally closed and has Spanish-style wrought-iron gates barring passage from the outside. William Randolph Hearst’s body was laid in state here, and Bill Clinton booked it in 1994 to pray during a trip to San Francisco — just him, his thoughts and the Secret Service lurking in the background.

The cathedral holds all manner of unexpected artifacts. There’s a circa 1521 stone tomb from France with a coat of arms from the monastic-military Knights Hospitaller, Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. According to legend a Crusader knight was interred here but no longer, as French revolutionaries scattered his bones. A Romanesque limestone credence table for the host and wine likely dates to the 12th century; it’s the oldest furnishing in the church.

The next large room is filled with art and furniture, including the bishop’s chair, carved from redwood with armrests shaped like an owl (wisdom) and lion (strength). A hallway holds Ansel Adams photographs and an oak eagle carved by Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore. It served as the cathedral’s lectern up until the 1960s. Lit from below is a brilliant, colorful portrait from photographer David LaChapelle of a Haitian model as the Virgin Mary; it was gifted a couple years ago and consecrated as an icon of the cathedral.

The cathedral’s crypt is unusual in that it’s above ground. There’s room for 3,000 souls, and it’s only half full, so get your plans in order today and you can spend the afterlife here for $8,000 . (Though $10,000 will get you a space at a more desirable “eye-to-heart” level.)

We climb into the upper recesses of the cathedral and, crossing a catwalk, encounter E=MC2, the stained-glass Albert Einstein tribute. A glassy version of astronaut John Glenn is nearby. Our guide cautions us to tighten our hardhats, lest they fall off while we’re looking around and bonk the noggins of the faithful below.

Tour group visitor Kelly Huibregtse, of San Francisco, smiles as she ducks down to enter a small passage way inside the south tower during a behind the scenes tour of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, Calif., on Friday, April 5, 2024. The passageway allows visitors to view the stained glass window of Albert Einstein located 174 feet above the floor of the cathedral. (Jose Carlos Fajardo/Bay Area News Group)

The final stretch takes us up multiple levels of stairs to an open-air observatory protected by pigeon netting. Bells crash and powerful winds blow, as we take in the cathedral’s nearly 250-foot-tall spire, called Le Fleche, because it represents an arrow shooting prayers directly up to god. There are no gargoyles on this steeple, but there are grotesques, in this case wyverns that look like fire-breathing dragons with scorpion tails. They’re meant to ward off evil from not just the church but also the city.

“I think we might need more dragons,” rumbles our guide Sparks.

The tower offers nearly 360-degree views of the expansive city below. Our attention is caught by a building in a park across the way. It’s the Pacific-Union Club at the top of Nob Hill, one of the largest men’s-only clubs in the U.S. The motto, our guide intones, is rumored to be “No women, no journalists, no Democrats.”

Details: General admission to San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral, located at 1100 California St., is $12. Behind the scenes tours are $27 to $30. Reserved a timed entry ticket at gracecathedral.org .

Breaking Down JoJo Siwa and Lil Tay’s Feud

After lil tay was compared to jojo siwa in a social media post, the “sucker 4 green” singer began calling out the dance moms alum online..

If JoJo Siwa had a wish,  Lil Tay would've never effed around.

In the last week, the  Dance Moms alum and rapper have been throwing shade at each other online. Why? Well, the beef appears to have begun April 12, when Lil Tay responded to X posts comparing the two young musicians.

"Wish I didn't just find out who that is, I wrote ‘SUCKER 4 GREEN' myself," the 16-year-old noted. "Please don't mention me & her in the same sentence."

Later, the influencer, who went viral late last year for a death hoax, replied to another comment explaining the initial post was meant to be positive toward her.

"I'm agreeing with him," Lil Tay continued, adding that while she didn't know who JoJo was at first, she's since done her research and doesn't "want to be compared to frauds."

E! News has reached out to reps for JoJo for comment, but has not heard back.

Meanwhile, JoJo, whose latest single was originally recorded by Brit Smith in 2012, may have subtly responded to Lil Tay's claims.

In screenshots obtained by Page Six , the 20-year-old allegedly "liked" a post claiming, "JoJo Siwa has a career, Lil Tay is just a meme, and a pathetic one at that."

And while the "Boomerang" singer's X like history no longer shows the post, Lil Tay later added fuel to the feud, and directly called out JoJo in another post.

"You're a scary ass b---h if you have something too [sic] say about me, say it & this time DON'T delete your comment or unlike shady tweets!" Lil Tay wrote April 16. "Don't let those paid YouTube views and botted Spotify streams get to your head Madonna from dollar tree ass b---h."

Since releasing "Karma," JoJo has promoted the track by launching a "rebrand" of herself, which she has compared to Miley Cyrus ' Bangerz  era, and  Britney Spears .

However, fans do not appear to be on board, as the original, previously unreleased version of the song has out-charted JoJo's single on iTunes.

And despite backlash surrounding JoJo allegedly rerecording the track, she maintains it's her song.

"I didn't steal anything," she told TMZ   April 12. "There's no such thing as stealing—I also don't know who Brit Smith is."

Tan France vs. Bobby Berk

Bobby (pictured second from left) addressed rumors of a falling out with Tan (middle) in January 2024, two months after he announced his exit from Queer Eye after eight seasons.

"I want people to know that Tan and I—we will be fine," he told Vanity Fair . "There was a situation, and that's between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show. It was something personal that had been brewing—and nothing romantic, just to clarify that."

In March 2024, Tan responded to allegations  that he had campaigned to replace Bobby on Queer Eye with his friend Jeremiah Brent .

"Netflix and the production companies did a full-on casting. I didn't put my friend up for the job. They ended up getting it because they were the best person for the job," he said on Instagram. "But I didn't get them hired by getting rid of somebody else."

Shannen Doherty vs. Alyssa Milano

Following years of rumors of a feud between the two, on a December 2023 episode of her podcast Let's Be Clear , Shannen's former Charmed costar Holly Marie Combs alleged that Alyssa had once made an ultimatum to a show producer to choose between herself and Shannen, which ultimately led to the latter leaving the show in 2001.

In February 2024, Alyssa said on Instagram, "I did not have the power to get anyone fired" and that "this was so long ago that any retelling of these stories from anyone is just revisionist history."

A day later, Shannen said at a panel event at MegaCon Orlando , "There is no revisionist history happening in the truth that I know we told."

In September 2023, while playing a game called  Stir the Pot  with her daughter  Kelly Osbourne on  E! News , Sharon said the  That '70s Show alum was the rudest celebrity she had ever met, branding him, a "rude, rude, rude, rude little boy" and a "Dastardly little thing."

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

Five years prior, Sharon told Larry King   that when Ashton appeared on The Talk in 2014, he had an "attitude" after she got his name wrong.

"He goes, 'What are you, what have you done in this industry?'" she recalled. "And I was like, 'Kid, don't start with me, because I'm gonna eat you up and s--t you out.' So I was just like, 'You don't know what you're dealing with, kid.'"

In August 2022, Cassadee and Maren traded harsh words with Brittany , wife of fellow country star  Jason Aldean , after she shared an Instagram Reel of herself applying makeup on Aug. 23, writing, "I'd really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life."

JoJo Siwa vs. Candace Cameron Bure

During a 2022 TikTok challenge,  JoJo Siwa described  Candace Cameron Bure as the "rudest" celebrity, later explaining that she felt snubbed when Bure once refused to take a picture with her on a red carpet. Shortly after the dig, however, the  Full House alum apologized: "I kind of broke your 11-year-old heart. I didn't take a picture with you. Ugh! I feel crummy, I feel—JoJo, I'm so sorry."

The two made amends. But months later, Candace was asked if she expects the Great American Family network, of which she serves as chief creative officer, to feature same-sex couples as leads in holiday movies. She said no, adding, "I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core."

JoJo, who came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, wrote on Instagram that the actress' comment is "rude and hurtful to a whole community of people."

Courtney Love vs. Olivia Rodrigo

Back in June 2021, Courtney Love  accused  Olivia Rodrigo  of copying her band  Hole 's album cover for a promotional photo without giving credit. Olivia responded, "Love u and live through this sooooo much." Courtney then replied, "Olivia - you're welcome. My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! Dm me for deets! I look forward to reading your note [winking face emoji]."

During an appearance Watch What Happens Live , the Happy Days  actor was asked why he didn't get along with the  Forrest Gump star on the set of the 1989 flick  Turner & Hooch .

"I was directing that movie for 13 days and then I was called into [producer]  Jeff Katzenberg 's office and he said, 'You have everything with you? Go home,'" he said.

Winkler did, however, seem to get along with Hanks' four-legged co-star. "I got along great, great with that dog," he said. "Love that dog."

He also refused to admit if he's even seen the flick.

"You know what you did!"

Fans of The Hills will remember that iconic line, delivered by Lauren on the season three premiere. Their feud began when Heidi started dating her now-husband, Spencer Pratt and hit its peak when Lauren accused Heidi and Spencer of starting a rumor that she had made a sex tape with Jason Wahler .

Dwayne Johnson vs. Tyrese Gibson

The costars reignited their ongoing feud when Tyrese publicly called out Dwayne on Instagram after the Fast and Furious 9 release date was pushed back to April 2020. That same day, it was announced that a Fast and Furious spinoff starring Dwayne and Jason Statham would hit theaters in 2019. The following month, Tyrese threatened to quit Fast 9 if Dwayne was in the movie.

Tyrese then opened up about the feud , telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast, "I have yet to talk to The Rock to this day, and we will have a conversation." He shared that he did have a conversation with the former wrestler's producing partner, but not the actor himself.

"I found myself being the messenger on behalf of various people associated to the franchise, but stupid me was the only one who went public about those feelings, which is my own fault," Tyrese said. "It's not professional, it's not cool."

No more bad blood here.

Taylor and Katy had been in a feud for years, even allegedly inspiring Taylor's song "Bad Blood." The drama, which reportedly started over a backup dancer and competing tours, came to an end after Perry sent Taylor a literal olive branch before her Reputation Tour kickoff.

"So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch," Taylor said in an Instagram video. "This mean so much."

Taylor captioned the video, "Thank you Katy."

Sex and the City costars Kim and SJP had dodged feud rumors for years. But they were reignited after Kim decided not to return for a third movie and made comments about her costar that raised eyebrows.

"What was your reaction to Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan that you were never friends just colleagues?" Andy Cohen asked SJP on a Sept. 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live .

As she explained, "Just...heartbroken. I mean that whole week, you and I spoke about it because I was just...I don't know I found it really upsetting because that's, you know, that's not the way I recall our experience."

"So...it's sad but I'm kind of...I don't know, I always think that what ties us together is this singular experience is the thing. It was a professional experience but it became personal because it was years and years of our lives. So I'm hoping that that sort of eclipses anything that's been recently spoken," she continued. "That many years spent doing something so special that people had a connection with is such a privileged."

And though they didn't film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That .

The iconic singers have been feuding since 2004. While accepting the Classic Songwriter Award at the Q Awards that year, Elton  said to attendees, "Madonna, best f--king live act? F--k off! Since when has lip-syncing been live? Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs in public on stage, when you pay like 75 quid to see them, should be shot."

The former Grey's Anatomy star sparked a feud with the series creator in 2008 when she removed her name from the Emmy Awards consideration. The actress stated that her reason for the move was because she wasn't "given the material to warrant a nomination."

Shonda later opened up about Katherine's decision during an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah's Next Chapter in 2012. "On some level it stung and on some level I was not surprised," she said. "When people show you who they are, believe them. I carry that [mantra] with me a lot. It has served me well."

It was the New York Fashion Week fight heard 'round the world when Nicki and Cardi got into a heated altercation at the Harper's Bazaar Icon party. The following month, Cardi opened up about the catalyst for the fight with Nicki.

"For a while now she's been taking a lot of shots at me," Cardi said in W magazine 's Art Issue. "I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going."

The real spark of the fight came when Cardi saw that Nicki had allegedly liked and then unliked a tweet about Cardi's parenting skills, which Nicki has denied.

"I was going to make millions off my Bruno Mars tour, and I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter," Cardi continued. "I love my daughter. I'm a good-ass f--king mom. So for somebody that don't have a child to like that comment? So many people want to say that party wasn't the time or the place, but I'm not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block."

Tension between Kanye and Taylor first started in 2009, when the "Stronger" rapper took the stage during her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. Years later, the two would make up and even become friends, but that came to an end after the release of his song "Famous," in which he name-checks the "End Game" singer.

"I don't know her."

It's been over 15 years since Mariah and J.Lo's   "feud" has been going on. It all started when the Queen of Christmas was asked to give her opinion on several singers during an interview. When asked her opinion on Jennifer, she replied, "I don't know her."
