1.  big bus miami hop-on hop-off tour.

What is it? What’s a sightseeing tour throughout Miami without a little traffic? Not an authentic one, that's for sure. If you're bound to get stuck beyond the wheel, it’s best you leave the driving to someone else so that you can spend the afternoon gawking out the window, taking in the city’s fabulous architecture and those stunning ocean views.

Why go? Each bus has its own tour guide to point out and explain the sites. Another perk of riding the Big Bus? You'll never have to deal yet another Miami transportation struggle: parking.

2.  Little Havana Food and Walking Tour

What is it? If you’re the type who researches a city’s food scene before booking travel, this culinary tour will keep you from spending precious hours Googling away. Set off on a gut-busting journey through Little Havana, sampling the Cuban neighborhood’s authentic delights—from ice cream and cafecito to those irresistible croquetas.

Why go? Between stops, you’ll learn about the people, the culture and, of course, the food that make this place so special.  

3.  Miami Beach Food and Art Deco Walking Tour

What is it? More than showing you where The Birdcage was filmed, Art Deco walking tours are a fun, interactive way to learn all about South Beach’s historic architecture—without ever needing to refer to your guidebook.

Why go? You’ll learn to distinguish Mediterranean Revival from Miami Modern and be able to tell all your friends back home you were inside an actual Art Deco structure. Bonus: the three-hour tour includes five stops to snack and rest your feet. 

4.  Miami Duck Tour

What is it? Few tours will take a Pitbull dance break at a red light, but Duck Tours is unlike any other tour you’ll take in Miami. You’ll ride an amphibious truck, meaning it can travel on land and on water, through the streets of Miami Beach and downtown Miami, past Bayside Marketplace and into Biscayne Bay for a truly 360-degree view of the city.

Why go? Guides are informative but also really fun, so expect to hear the “#SELFIE” song when your peers start wielding their selfie sticks.

5.  Day Trip to The Bahamas

What is it? Okay, maybe this doesn't count as a tour in  Miami, but if anything deserves to be an expection to the rule, it's something that involves a trip to the Bahamas. Head out from Miami Beach on a high-speed ferry to the Island of Bimini. 

Why go? You'll get six hours of free time to enjoy the white sand beaches and clear water, with the option to take on various water sports from jet skiing to parasailing and shipwreck snorkeling. Miami excursions to the Bahamas don't come cheap, but these are relatively reasonable. 

6.  Design District Public Art and Food Tour

What is it? On this two-and-a-half-hour tour, you’ll sample global cuisine from a chef-driven food hall — including a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian—all while checking out the stunning art and architecture. You'll also get to indulge in Chef Andrew G.'s famous cookie creations. 

Why go? The bougie neighborhood gets a bad rap for being nothing more than a place to shop and for being expensive. While the latter might be true, there’s plenty to see and do in the MDD that has nothing to do with retail. 

7.  Wynwood Graffiti Experience

What is it? No matter what the countless murals in Wynwood might lead you to believe, spray painting a vacant wall is still very much illegal. Fortunately, this workshop and tour gives you free rein without the risk of defacing public property.

Why go? Led by a real-life street artist, the class takes place at an artist's studio (address is provided upon booking). Students are handed a can of paint, a mask (safety first!) and shown how to write, blend colors, and illustrate using different spray tips. 

8.  Florida Everglades Hike, Kayak and Airboat Tour

What is it? Those willing to brave the elements for an up-close glimpse of South Florida’s most impressive landscape should opt for an amphibian experience. Start with a one-hour airboat tour, which whisks you through thousands of tiny islands and past native wildlife.

Why go? You’ll see crocodiles and alligators (the Everglades is among the few places in the world where the two species cohabitate), as well as all sorts of other wildlife, many of which are endangered. A dry hike led by a naturalist and lunch are included in this unique adventure.

9.  Wynwood Graffiti Golf Cart Tour

What is it? Cover more ground while exploring Wynwood’s myriad murals on a graffiti buggy tour. You’ll hop on the golf cart for a one-hour ride through the colorful arts district, learning about the popular street art and the artists who created it.

Why go?  Do you suffer from FOMO? No worries! This fast-paced route brings you past more than 50 of the area’s galleries and murals. 

10.  Full Moon Kayak Tour

What is it?  Glide your way through the arched mangrove canopy and bask under the light of the moon and stars on this monthly tour at scenic Oleta River State Park.

Why go?  Guides will lead you through the peaceful intercoastal waterway to the park’s hidden treasure: Sandspur Island. The tour ends back at the beach cove for s’mores and refreshments around the campfire. 

11.  Miami Segway Tour

We took the private south beach tour, and it was great. We were actually deciding to either book the hop on hop off tour, or this private one. We're so glad we picked this one. The trip was in a stretched open jeep, which was really nice. Overall, it was a lovely experience.

Our family of 8 took the jet ski tour, and a private transfer to miami seaquarium with this company. The jet ski ride was amazing. The guide was very helpful. It was our first time, and Pablo made sure we had great time.

The parasailing ride was fantastic!

We did the Little Havana walking tour and food tour today with Sophia as our tour guide and she was amazing! So knowledgeable and very funny! All of the food was so good and learning about the Cuban culture we so neat! A great way to experience the best shops and even watch cigar rollers! This was probably one of the best guided tours I’ve done anywhere! Def a must do if visiting Little Havana!

The Wolfsonian – Florida International University is situated in a historic Mediterranean Revival building in the heart of South Beach's Art Deco District. The Pérez Art Museum Miami, also known as PAMM, is found bayfront on Museum Park in downtown Miami. Spend an afternoon with stingrays and sharks

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is one of the only science museums in the world to house both an aquarium and planetarium under one roof. It's found on Museum Park downtown, next to the Pérez Art Museum Miami. The hands-on, interactive exhibits make for a very family-friendly outing. Kayak through mangrove estuaries

For a taste of South Florida's rugged outdoors – without the long drive to Everglades National Park – make a beeline for Oleta River State Park in North Miami Beach; it's a mere 20-minute drive from South Beach and is one of Florida's 175 award-winning state parks, state trails and historic sites. Inside the park, manoeuvre through mangrove estuaries on stand-up paddleboards or kayaks, hit the tranquil lagoon beach or go fishing. It's also a prime destination for mountain biking, with 15 miles of trails ranging from novice to expert across the 1,033-acre park.

Get up close to rare plants and exotic butterflies

The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has a mission of 'exploring, explaining and conserving tropical plants' and occupies 83 lush acres in Coral Gables. You can visit the gardens on guided walking tours, tram tours or on your own. Collections and exhibits include rare plants, Wings of the Tropics with exotic butterflies, and various aquatic displays. Front crawl in a historic swimming pool

The 820,000-gallon natural spring pool in Coral Gables is fed by an underground aquifer, and was created in a coral rock quarry in 1923. It's named The Venetian Pool, has waterfalls, cave-like grottos and a picturesque bridge, and is surrounded by porticos and palm trees. It was part of the 'grand plan' that founder and developer George Merrick had for the residential area of Coral Gables, which is nicknamed The City Beautiful. Today, the Venetian Pool is a unique swimming destination and the only pool on the National Register of Historic Places. 

Insider's tip: The water temperature is maintained at a consistent 77 degrees Farenheit (25 degrees Celcius), which feels great in the summer and spring months, but can be quite chilly in the winter season.

Nosy around a millionaire's estate

Millionaire industrialist James Deering built his private waterfront estate Vizcaya in the 1910s, and he modelled it on grand European villas. On the east terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay, the building resembles a Venetian palazzo, and is filled with elaborate Renaissance tapestries, Rococo furniture, Chinese objets d'art, Roman sculptures and early 20th-century paintings. Rooms are styled after different Italian cities: Milan in the Music Room, Palermo at reception and Venice in various bedrooms.

Cycle past alligators on a 15-mile loop

Everglades National Park is home to one of the world's most unique ecosystems. It spans 1.5 million acres of subtropical wetlands, and is made up of sawgrass prairies, hardwood hammocks and saltwater marshes, with an enormous slow-moving river flowing south into the Florida Bay. The park is also famously the habitat of the Florida alligator. The Shark Valley Visitor Center is the closest access point from Miami and can be reached in about an hour's drive. Take a tram tour led by naturalists, or rent a bike to ride a 15-mile loop.
