Guided brewery tour.

On a tour of our recently renovated brewery in Stadskasteel Oudaen’s wharf cellar, you will find out about all the different stages that the beer has to pass through before it finally finds its way into your glass. And not just any beer – Oudaen beer! We offer three different tours. It’s also a fun idea to combine a tour with one of our tasting sessions!

Beer tasting I

9,95 per person.

In ca. 30 minuten krijgt u een rondleiding met uitleg over het brouwproces en proeft u onze klassieker: Oudaen witbier

Beer tasting II

10,50 per person.

In ca. 60 minuten leert u over het brouwproces en krijgt u een glas Oudaen witbier met brouwersbittergarnituur.

Beer tasting III

17,50 per person.

In ca. 90 minuten legt onze brouwmeester u alles uit over het brouwproces, proeft u drie verschillende huis gebrouwen biertjes en geniet u van een bijbehorende brouwersbittergarnituur.

What and who?

We take an alternative bike tour through the city of Utrecht.The tour will be guided by a guide hugely passionate about craft beers. They will share their practical knowledge about local beers, the brewing process and the city of Utrecht! We will be tasting a variety of different speciality beers. Like, for example, Pale Ales, IPA’s, Stoutes, Porters, Wheat beers and experimental beers. The Utrecht 'HOP spots' are scattered across the city, off the beaten track, so the tour will also give you a really new and unique way of discovering this beautiful city. At the end of the tour, you too will be able to tell the difference between the various types of craft beer.

Brewery tours.

When we do not use it for brewing, we conduct tours in our brewery at the Funenkade . We tell you about the fascinating history of our brewery and explain the role of water, malt , hops , and yeast within the brewing process.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, an English language tour starts at 3.30 pm, followed by a Dutch one at 4 pm. The tour takes about 20 minutes and cost €2,50 per person. Booking in advance is not possible. There is a limited number of twenty places, so be quick to grab some if you are keen to join.

In addition to the regular tours, we also provide private tours. From Monday till Thursday, the tours will always be after 6 pm. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the tour is always outside the regular tour times.

Nowhere does beer taste as good as at the source. That's why we open our playground for you every week! Every weekend the 16 taps go in our tasting room at the brewery! For the real brewpub experience, come and drink our beers with a view of the kettles in which they are brewed. Every Saturday and Sunday we also give educational tours, followed by a good tasting of our beers and, if you want, delicious snacks.

In our tasting room we naturally have the freshest vandeStreek beers you can get. The regular beers such as the Playground, Broeders and Hazy Weekend, but also special specials that are only available on tap in our own catering locations.

A good beer is not possible without a good serving platter. Our snack boards are full of local products, including cheese from Jan, the farmer who feeds all our used grains to his goats. In short, every reason to come by!

In addition to delicious snacks full of cheese, sausage and bitterballen, we serve a simple menu consisting of the original vandeStreek burger, chicken satay and a changing special. Start your Saturday or Sunday with a delicious lunch and hang around in the afternoon, you don't have to go home yet!

Looking for an original location for your next company party, team outing, farewell or department drink? We got you! The brewery is our playground and we are happy to share it with you! Our Taproom is adjacent to the brewery. Where you will find 16 different beers on our taps, we also have at least as many beers in bottles and cans, so there are always more than 30 beers to taste.

We will take you on a tour of the brewery. Go through the brewing process step by step and then taste the beers including snacks in the taproom. You can't get closer to the source! Stick around for dinner and end the day with a pub quiz and/or DJ, anything is possible!

FAQ’s

• What is the start- and end location of the tour?

Our guided and self-guided tours start and end in the center of Utrecht (near Tivoli Vredenburg). The exact starting location depends on whether you rent bikes through us or not.

• What is included in the tour?

Beer tastings and some snacks are included with every tour. The number of beers depends on the tour type chosen, but a minimum of 6 tastings of locally brewed craft beer are always included. Of course we also take care of the route, reservations and enough information to keep you entertained during the day. With our Guided Tours, besides the guide, a brewery tour is always included. The self-guided tour also includes a brewery tour. The Craft Beer Workshop includes a tasting (min. 3 beers) and a (home made, vegan) lunch. In addition, each participant gets a liter of their homemade beer to take home.

• Is there a non-alcoholic version of the tour?

We do not have a specific non-alcoholic version of the tour. If someone in the group does not drink alcohol (or beer), there are plenty of alternative drinks available at each location. The Utrecht breweries make world famous non-alcoholic beers!

• How does the self-guided tour exactly work?

During the self-guided Craft Beer Tour you will go out by bike and visit up to three different craft beer locations. Shortly before the start of your tour you will receive all necessary information by email. At the starting location (a beer shop in the center of Utrecht) you will receive a stamp card with the route and a phone holder for your bike. You can use the stamp card at the locations to ‘pay’ your beers.

• How does the gift card work?

Do you want to surprise someone with an original gift? Then the gift card is for you! You order the gift card via our website and it represents a financial value. The gift card contains a voucher code that can be used by the recipient to book his/her tour. After ordering and payment of the gift card you will receive it by email within 24 hours. The gift card is valid for at least 1 year.

• What is the minimum number of people required to join the tour?

For the self-guided tour the minimum number is 1 person. For the guided tours the minimum number is 6 people. Do you want to do a guided tour and ayou are with less than 6 people? Then send us a Whatsapp message. Maybe we can merge groups.

• In which languages can the tour be given?

All our guides speak English and Dutch. Most guides also have basic knowledge of the German language. The self-guided tour is available in Dutch and English.

• How does the bicycle rental work?

If you rent bicycles through us (additional costs are 7.50 p.p.), we will ensure that good bicycles are reserved for you. The bicycles are collected from Willemstraat Bikes in the center of Utrecht. With the self-guided tour you have to pick up the bikes yourself and return them on time. Please bring a copy of your ID for a smooth and fast transfer. You are always responsible for the bicycle yourself. In case of a flat tire, always call Willemstraat bikes and don’t continue biking.

• How long does the tour last?

This differs per tour type, but we usually start around 1:00 PM and we are back in the city center of Utrecht at 5:00 PM. Our workshop normally starts around 10 AM and lasts until 3 PM.

• According to the booking calendar, the tour is fully booked on the date I requested, what now?

• What are the opening hours of Utrecht Craft Beer Tours ?

Our standard opening hours for telephone contact are Monday to Thursday from 11 am to 9 pm, Friday from 10 am to 10 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 10 pm. Opening hours can change and can be checked via Google Maps .

Police break up pro-palestine protests in amsterdam, utrecht.

Riot police were again drafted in to break up protests by pro-Palestine supporters in Utrecht and Amsterdam on Wednesday night. 

In Utrecht, some 40 people were picked up at the university location on the Drift and moved to a new location by bus, but were not arrested, police said early on Thursday morning. They had refused to comply with a university ultimatum to move which was given shortly after midnight.  

The university later issued a statement saying all its city centre  locations would remain closed until Monday to “prevent further unrest and potentially unsafe situations” from   arising.  

In Amsterdam, there were 32 arrests at university locations on the Binnengasthuisterrein and the Rokin in the city centre , but the situation was quiet by midnight, police said on social media.  

Earlier in the evening riot police had used diggers to break through the blockades which students had erected at the Binnengasthuisterrein after they refused to leave the premises, having been allowed to sleep there on Tuesday.

Some protesters set off fire extinguishers and directed them at the police, who drew their truncheons to keep them back. The demonstrators included people who were clearly not students but “were deliberately looking for confrontation”, the police said.

Some of the protestors then moved to the nearby Rokin where they again threw eggs and bricks at the police and, according to one police report, ammonia.

The protests led to public transport being disrupted for a time before riot police moved in to break up the crowd. A smaller group then moved to the Rembrandtplein to continue their protest, where the gathering was peaceful.

The protesters are calling on the universities to cut all ties with Israeli institutions.

WATCH: Funnel cloud caught on camera in Upstate

HONEA PATH, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - An Upstate resident captured video of a funnel cloud in Anderson County early Thursday morning as severe storms moved through.

Multiple tornado warnings were issued overnight and widespread damage is reported across the western Carolinas and northeastern Georgia. The roof was ripped off a building in downtown Anderson.

Lori Dozier saw the funnel cloud from the living room of her home on Carolina Avenue in Honea Path around 2 a.m. The funnel cloud isn’t visible in the dark until lightning illuminates the sky.

FOX Carolina’s First Alert Weather team, who was live on air at the time of the storm, confirmed the footage is of a funnel cloud. It is not clear yet if the funnel made contact with the ground.

The National Weather Service is expected to survey damage in Anderson and Laurens counties on Friday.

Taylor Pendrith finally won his first PGA Tour event Sunday at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson after 74 professional starts.

As he came down the stretch, his former Kent State teammate and fellow Canadian, Mackenzie Hughes, carried around three beers , ensuring he did not miss the winning moment.

The PGA Tour social team followed him as he dipped under the ropes on the 18th green, waiting for his friend to finish.

Hughes asked CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis, “How close is Taylor?”

“It’s a tap-in,” she responded.

Pendrith’s wife approached Hughes, and he said, “I should have brought you one,” as they hugged in celebration.

The Canadian finally acknowledged the camera and said, “He’s going to get a little wet.”

Hughes snuck around trying to surprise Pendrith after he sank the winning putt. As Pendrith celebrated with his wife and son, Hughes snuck up behind him and gave him a Miller Lite shower down his back.

After he doused Pendrith, the camera cuts to his caddie, Hughes, and his wife raising their glasses to his win.

It was a big moment for Pendrith as he became the latest Canadian to win on the PGA Tour. The 32-year-old has not had the strongest year. Pendrith has also fought a shoulder injury , but the last two weeks saw his game trend in the right direction.

He and Hughes partnered at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last week and tied for 11th. The week before that, he finished T11 at the Corales Puntacana Championship.

Now, Pendrith will play in his first Signature Event of the year, the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hallow.
