There are actually three cruises that I can highly recommend. I did all of them and I loved it! It is the amazing Bateaux Dinner Cruise  and the amazing Cocoa Holiday Cruise . You are aboard a beautiful yacht, the atmosphere is amazing and you can enjoy stunning views of the skyline of New York!

There are two things at once that make this New Year’s Eve boat cruise special: first and foremost, of course, the ship itself. Its large windows give you a sensational view of the New York skyline. And in addition to that, the atmosphere on board is very nice: elegant, classy and yet relaxed. 

You can expect a first-class dinner menu, the bar is very well equipped and the bartenders are very attentive and helpful. On time for the countdown, best with a glass of champagne in hand, you start into the New Year 2024 in New York. It doesn’t get any better than this!

We have done many of the Bateaux boat tours ourselves and have never been disappointed. Therefore, the NYC New Year’s Eve Luxury Bateaux Dinner Cruise is my absolute recommendation for you!

Classic Harbor Line: Manhattan Holiday Yacht Cruise with Jazz, Cocoa & Carols

Why not spending time on a Christmas Holiday Cruise during Christmas in New York? Both locals and NYC visitors love the amazing Christmas Cruises New York City has to offer.

My favorite holiday cruise is the New York City Cocoa and Carols Holiday Cruise. The Jazz Band on board is fun and so talented which makes the New York City Cocoa and Carols Holiday Cruise even more entertaining. Relax in the heated main observation cabin, join in the caroling, and admire the city through the glassed-in observatory on the 1920s style yacht.

Bateaux Christmas Day Gourmet Brunch or Dinner Harbor Cruise

On Christmas Day ( December 25 ) there are several cruises with the Bateaux available: you can choose between the Christmas Eve Gourmet Lunch Cruise and the Christmas Eve Dinner Harbor Cruise. 

The Lunch Cruise lasts 2 hours, the Dinner Cruise 3 hours. You can expect a 3-course Christmas menu, impressive views of the New York skyline and a festive ambience.

City Cruises: Christmas Day Buffet Brunch or Dinner Harbor Cruise

Come aboard the Spirit of New York for a Christmas Day Buffet Brunch or Dinner Cruise in the harbor of New York. Depending on the option you choose, you’ll cruise past landmarks for 2 or 2.5 hours. Soft drinks, coffee and tea are included, and with the brunch option you’ll also get unlimited mimosas. The food is served buffet style.

Christmas Eve Buffet Lunch or Dinner Harbor Cruise

On board the Spirit of New York you can enjoy a wonderful Christmas boat tour with live DJ. You can choose between a Brunch Cruise (2 hours) or a Dinner Cruise (2.5 hours).  The tour takes you from Pier 61 to the Statue of Liberty, through the port of Hamburg to the Brooklyn Bridge – just great!

This tour is my tip for a lovely brunch cruise in NYC during the holiday season. You will be on board one of the most beautiful yachts in the style of the 1920s in NYC. The boat tour takes you around the island of Manhattan, so you can see all the major attractions. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed and definitely worth the price!

Skyline Brunch Cruise Around Manhattan

This brunch cruise is one of the most beautiful boat tours in New York. You sit aboard a 1920s-style ship with lots of wood and even more glass. The provider has several wonderful boat tours in the program, of which we have already tried four (and all were great!).

Start at Pier 62 at Chelsea Piers – this is where you board. First you start towards the George Washington Bridge, then turn south to the Statue of Liberty, New York Harbor and the Brooklyn Bridge . You can enjoy the view of the New York skyline and have a delicious brunch with New York specialties. The first drink (even champagne!) is even included in the price.

Classic Harbor Line: Holiday Jazz Cruise Aboard Classic Motor Yacht

This Holiday Jazz Cruise aboard a 1920’s style luxury yacht is one of my absolute favorite tours in New York. The ship has a wonderful charm and cannot be compared to the big sightseeing ships. Holiday Jazz Cruise starts at the Chelsea Piers and takes you along the Hudson River to the Statue of Liberty and the harbor of New York. On the way you can enjoy a wonderful view of the New York skyline and smooth jazz at the same time.

Princess dining for Christmas lunch

Have never sailed over Christmas before and curious to know of what happens for Christmas lunch on Princess or is it more likely the evening meal is the focus. We are sailing to New Zealand as a couple so no family will be with us.  

Do you prebook into the main dining rooms or are specialty restaurants more the way to go to celebrate Christmas on the ship?

Any insight on what to expect would be appreciated.

A few things.

Christmas meal is usually in the evening.

Though one year, we disembarked on December 26th. They did have a very nice Christmas festive lunch.

The main meal will usually be in the evening. If Christmas is a sea day then lunch will be served in a DR. There probably will be some special selections.

You can book a specialty restaurant for Christmas dinner if you want. The menu will probably be the same as other evenings, maybe a few differences. The MDRs will have special menu selections for Christmas dinner.

You sound like you've been on board for a Christmas cruise. 

While we don't normally eat in the DR for lunch I think we just might give it a try.

The special Christmas meal is at dinner. They, at least Pre-Pandemic, had turkey and ham as well as the usual nice dinner items. For dessert, they offered Christmas desserts from various parts of Europe, which was fun, and then each table would get a plate of Christmas cookies. 

I don't remember anything particularly special about lunch, but dinner is really good.  Desserts usually include gingerbread souffle, cookies, some sort of English Christmas pudding.  Other foods you will see on the ship that are special for the holidays are stollen and decorated Christmas cookies with milk.  They used to have a gingerbread house decorating contest pre pandemic and there are lots of holiday activities including a kids fair and Santa passing out gifts to the kids (stuffed animals on the cruises we went on).  We love the Christmas cruises and all the beautiful decorations!

Normally you can find Eggnog at breakfast.  My favorite Princess dessert is the Gingerbread Souffle served at dinner.

Thanks for your response.  Is it any different in relation to selecting table size?  ie.  table for 2 or shared table. You can't seem to select table size like you used to when participating in a shared table with the mediallion app only have been able to select the time and dining room.

Thank Roatanfans.  As this cruise is out of Australia to NZ would the Christmas dinner be more likely to be themed from those countries as your Christmas dinner sounds amazing but is it perhaps more what you would expect for Christmas dinner from the destination your cruising from/too :)

Although it's a few years since we did a Xmas cruise on Princess the Christmas menu was pretty much as Roatanfans described. Princess doesn't really alter its menus much for our local Australasian itineraries. Christmas here is a mix of traditional British cuisine (despite it being summer) of turkey and steamed fruit pudding, or seafood and pavlova. And I won't tell you what I think of the pathetic things Princess calls pavlova - they'd ban me if I did! 🙄 😯 🤣

It certainly looks good but then again so does their pumpkin pie and pecan pie.

We did a Grand Asia Christmas cruise for 2018-2019.  Christmas didn't feature any special foods from Asia other than the always available items (won ton soup was a favorite for my kids).  Not sure about NZ but I'm guessing it will be more English and American dishes but maybe they will do something with lamb or a local fish.

@Kaylacool  There is a role call for this cruise if you'd like to join - quite a few CC people will be on the cruise. I am travelling with my husband and 2 kids, as well as my parents, and my in laws. 

We have done a Christmas cruise on RCL and loved it, looking forward to this cruise!!!! 

Can you not select a shared table in the App? It was an option in the past  has that changed?

It is funny - I cruised at Christmas this past year and ordered the gingerbread soufflé. I love soufflés. It came out as a vanilla souffle. I said something to the waiter and he looked at me, grabbed the menu and pointed to it and said it was gingerbread. It was truly vanilla. I found it funny that pointing to it on the menu didn't really make it gingerbread.

I had previously had the gingerbread soufflé and do know the difference.

Here was Christmas dinner in 2021. Looked at lunch menu and it was nothing special.

Here is Christmas lunch from 2021 (normal). As stated earlier, when we got off the ship on the 26th years earlier, they did a very nice Christmas lunch.
