Parlez-vous français? Well, give it your best shot—because you’re kicking things off in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. Explore on your own or go for the optional excursion.

Ouchy Promenade: Not nearly as painful as it sounds, this lakeside district is the perfect place to stroll just like the locals do.

Olympic Museum: Get sporty at this interactive museum dedicated to the Olympic games—the biggest in the world, believe it or not.

Take a guided tour of a medieval castle, followed by a wine tasting and trip to charming Montreux. 

By the end of today, you will have walked on a glacier, crossed a bridge connecting two mountain peaks at 10,000 feet, and entered into the renowned Zermatt region of Switzerland. Yeah, it’s gonna be a good day.

• Take a cable car to the peak of the Scex Rouge mountain, the jumping off point of the Glacier 3000 experience.
• Cross the only suspension bridge in the world connecting two mountain peaks.
• Enjoy a leisurely 1-hour walk across a glacier with picturesque views in every direction.
• Continue to your next hotel in the Zermatt region and chow down on an included dinner with your group.

It’s alluring. It’s car-free. It’s Zermatt, Switzerland. Home to the legendary Matterhorn mountain, this village attracts adventure enthusiasts from around the world.

• Take an introductory walk through Zermatt.
• Ride a cable car way up high and take. It. In.
• Ooh and aah at the iconic pyramid-shaped Matterhorn mountain.

Next stop: the Lucerne region. Breathe in the fresh air with hints of chocolate (it might only be your imagination) as your Tour Director shows you around town.

• Grab a window seat on the drive from Zermatt to the Lucerne region.
• Join your Tour Director for an introductory city stroll.

All aboard for our new Switzerland tour!

One of the best parts of train travel is getting up close to the scenery—and on our new tour Switzerland by Train: Lucerne to Zurich , that scenery is the Alps, which makes for one incredible ride. Throughout the trip, you’ll hop aboard three different scenic railways for some of the most memorable views in Europe ( we aren’t kidding, they’re amazing ). Here’s a sneak peek at what’s waiting for you.

GoldenPass Railway

On this initial train ride, you’ll get your first taste of what the rest of the trip has in store. Travel from Lucerne to Interlaken on coaches complete with panoramic windows so you won’t miss out on a single photo op—and there are many. Make sure to keep your camera at the ready on this leg of the journey. You’ll chug past Lake Lucerne, Mount Pilatus, and the Bernese Oberland region of the Alps en route.

Glacier Express

From Zermatt, the mountain town in the shadow of the Matterhorn, you’ll hop aboard the Glacier Express and take off across southern Switzerland to St. Moritz. Over the years since its first service in 1930, the Glacier Express has earned a reputation for being the slowest express train in the world. Good thing too, because that means you won’t only be treated to views of the Rhine Gorge and Oberalp Pass, but you’ll have plenty of time to really take it all in.

Bernina Express

If you’re looking to cross off a World Heritage Site from your list, then you’re in for a treat! The Bernina line (which you’ll be traveling on as part of this ride) was recognized by UNESCO in 2008 for its feats in architecture and civil engineering and for how well it fits in with the surrounding landscape. The route promises equally impressive views, too as it climbs up to the Bernina Pass, passing over bridges and through tunnels along the way.
