General Instructions for Passengers

• Chardham Yatra Registration on Uttarakhand Govt. Portal is mandatory to book Helicopter Service online. If not already registered, please click on Chardham Yatra Registration
• For Sign Up or Create an account, validate your e-Mail ID and Mobile No. through OTP on heliyatra.irctc.co.in . User ID/Booker ID will be your registered Mobile No. and you will need to create your own password. You can then login to heliyatra.irctc.co.in for booking online Helicopter ticket.
• Enter Group ID to book tickets for multiple pilgrims or enter Unique Registration Number to book Helicopter Service for a single person.
• Maximum 02 (two) Helicopter Tickets can be booked per User/Booker ID with maximum six passengers (06 Nos.) per Ticket i.e. an User/Booker can book for a group of maximum 12 passengers on 2 tickets with a single User ID/Booker ID.
• For booking tickets for a group with more than 12 passengers, the User/Booker will be required to Signup with another User ID/Booker ID on heliyatra.irctc.co.in., if already available or create another User ID/Booker ID for booking tickets for a group with more than 12 passengers.
• Helicopter Bookings are only allowed for (Tour Date -3 & Tour Date +2) based on Tour Date of Shri Kedarnath Dham provided in Char Dham Yatra Registration. For example- For Tour date of 05th May for Shri Kedarnath Dham, booking can be done between 02 May to 07 May = 06 Days.

Shri Kedarnath Dham

Shri Kedarnath Dham means "Lord of the field or Kedar Khand" region, the historical name of the region. Situated amongst scenic snowy mountains and valleys covered with grassy meadows, Shri Kedarnath Dham temple is on the must-see list of sightseers all over the world - not just pilgrims. Located at an altitude of over 3,583 mtr. (11,755 ft.), above sea level in Uttarakhand and 223 km from Rishikesh, this temple is the highest of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. It is located at the head of the Mandakini and Saraswati River in Himalayas of Garhwal region. The temple is not directly accessible by road and has to be reached by a 16 kilometres uphill trek from Gaurikund. Ponie and Porter Service is available to reach the Temple. Helicopter services for 2023 Shri Kedarnath Dham Yatra are available and can be booked only through IRCTC official website.

Jyotirlinga

Jyotirlingas are sacred shrines of Lord Shiva, it is believed that Lord Shiva himself visited these places and hence they have a special place in the hearts of devotees. Jyotirlinga means "column or pillar of light". The "stambha" symbol represents that there is no beginning or end. When Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu had an argument about who was the supreme god, Lord Shiva appeared as a column of light and asked each one to find the ends. Neither could do it. It is believed that the places where these columns of light fell is where the Jyotirlinga are located.

History and Facts

One of the first references of Shri Kedarnath Dham is in the Skanda Purana that was written around the 7th and 8th century AD. The present structure is believed to have been constructed by Adi Shankaracharya about 1,200 years ago. It stands next to the site of a temple that is said to have been built by the Pandavas. It has been renovated many times over the centuries. The temple is built with huge stone slabs over a rectangular platform. There are inscriptions in Pali on the steps. There are figures of various deities and scenes from Hindu mythology on the inner walls. A large statue of the Nandi Bull, Shiva"s mount, stands as guard at the entrance. The Jyotirlinga is in the shape of a conical rock formation inside the temple - Lord Shiva in his Sadashiva form. Since Shri Kedarnath Dham is located at such an altitude, winters are severe, making the temple inaccessible. So, it is open to the Pilgrims only between April (Akshaya Tritiya) and November (Kartik Purnima - the autumn full moon) every year. During the winters, the Murtis(idols) from Shri Kedarnath Dham temple are brought to Ukhimath and worshiped there for six months. One of the most significant calamities occurred at Shri Kedarnath Dham in 2013 when it was affected by flash floods, which was one of the worst disasters that occurred in 100 years of its existence. Bhim Shila stands for 'God's rock', which saved the holy temple of Shri Kedarnath Dham from being washed away by the turbulent flood water.

IRCTC launches Badrinath, Kedarnath tour package. Check dates, routes, other details

Irctc chardham yatra tour package: the 11 nights/12 days package will include the stopover at four chardhams (badrinath, kedarnath, gangotri, and yamunotri) guptkashi, haridwar, sonprayag, and barkot.

As the Badrinath and Kedarnath sacred pilgrimages are set to open on May 8 and May 6 respectively, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a budget-friendly tour package by air.

According to the details shared by the IRCTC, the 11 nights/12 days package will include the stopover at four Chardhams (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri) Guptkashi, Haridwar, Sonprayag, and Barkot.

The IRCTC's Char Dham Yatra tour will start from Bhubaneshwar airport on June 10, 2022, while the trip will end on June 21, 2022.

The cost of the IRCTC's pilgrim air tour package will start from ₹ 60,000. The IRCTC said that pony charges, helicopter charges, and palki charges are not included in the tour price.

IRCTC Char Dham yatra package includes:

• Return Airfare (Bhubaneswar - Delhi - Bhubaneswar)
• Accommodation in Deluxe hotels/Resorts for 11 nights.
• Local Transfer from Delhi Airport & Sightseeing by AC 2 x 2 Comfortable Pushback Tempo Travellers.
• Breakfast & Dinner as per the Itinerary.
• IRCTC Tour Manager for the entire tour.
• Parking Charges, Driver Batta, Toll Tax

IRCTC package excludes:

• Pony Charges, Helicopter Charges & Palki Charges
• Personal Expenses such as Laundry, telephone calls, tips & gratuity, mineral water, soft & hard drinks, rafting, rock climbing, paragliding, Porterage, Still / Video Camera fees etc
• Entry tickets at monuments, zoos, sightseeing places, National Park, and boat rides.
• Any cost arising due to natural calamities like landslides, road blockage, political disturbances (strikes), etc (to be borne by the client, which is directly payable on the spot).

It used to be a six-hour long trek to Kedarnath from Gaurikund that went past Rambara and Garur Chatti before the paths were washed away by the flash-floods of 2013. The route goes past Jangal Chatti, nearly 4 kilometre away, followed by Chhoti Linchuli and Badi Linchuli before crossing the Mandakini River and heading to the south face of the Kedarnath peak. You can take the alternate route the goes up from Sonprayag, just 5 kilometre short of Gaurikund, and rounds up Kedarnath, going past Gomkara, Dev Vishnu and Dhumgajgiri. Q. When does the Badri Kedar Festival take place? A. The annual Badri Kedar Festival happens in June and is one of the highlights of Kedarnath. The entire town is decorated with flags, festoons and flowers and carries a festive aura. Since this is a summer festival, a time when the temple opens its doors to pilgrims, the place is packed with devotees and avid photographers and travellers. The Badri Kedar Festival goes on for eight days when artists, dancers, singers and painters come to Kedarnath and showcase their art in this fabulous setting amid all the festivity. It is a great way to get a sense of Uttarakhand’s history, culture and traditions. Q. Are there any hotels in Kedarnath? A. You can stay at the GMVN Tourist Bungalow in Kedarnath. This can be reached after a 14 kilometre trek from Gaurikund. The guesthouse has Economy Rooms, Family Suites and Dormitory with basic amenities such as attached bath and hot water supply. The property remains shut all winter owing to severe snowfall. Most other hotels are either in Rudraprayag or Sitapur, which is about 50 kilometre from Kedarnath. You can spend the night at your hotel in Rudraprayag and make a day trip to Kedarnath Temple. Q. Can Kedarnath be visited in monsoon? A. July to September are the monsoon months in Kedarnath, making landslides quite common in the area, leading to roadblocks. Rainfall makes the slopes treacherous for treks, and since it pours very heavily you can seldom venture outdoors. Though the temple remains open all of monsoon, it may not be the most pleasant times to visit Kedarnath. Q. Which are the most popular treks around Kedarnath? A. You can pursue the Gandhi Sarovar or Chorabari Tal trek which begins by the main bridge before the town where this is a paved pathway that crosses the Mandakini River and comes to a halt about 4 kilometre north of the Chorabari Glacier. It takes about two hours. On its edge is the Chorabari Tal, a placid lake also called Gandhi Sarovar since the Mahatma’s ashes were scattered here. You can even take a trek to the Bhairava Temple, an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Bhairava that is visible from the Kedarnath Temple. There is a path running diagonally along the hill surrounded by prayer flags. Close to the site is a cliff by the name of Bhairava Jhamp. Q. Can I visit Sonprayag from Kedarnath? A. Sonprayag is about 20 kilometre from Kedarnath. It is a religious site en route to the Kedarnath Temple which is among the Char Dhams. Sonprayag is a beautiful place lying at the confluence of the Basuki and Mandakini Rivers. Q. Which is the last railhead to Kedarnath? A. The Haridwar Railway Station is the closest railhead to Kedarnath. You can get direct trains to Haridwar from New Delhi, Varanasi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow among others. Some of the prominent trains that Haridwar receives include Mussoorie Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, AC Special Express, and Shatabdi Express. Once you arrive at the Haridwar Railway Station, you can hire a bus or a cab to Gaurikund which is about 125 kilometre away, and further on do the trek to Kedarnath Temple. Q. Are there buses from Dehradun for Kedarnath? A. Dehradun runs direct buses to Kedarnath by way of Volvo AC sleeper, semi-sleeper, non-AC sleeper and seater buses. The 254 kilometre distance is covered by these buses from Dehradun to Gaurikund. The remainder of the distance to the Kedarnath Temple needs to be accomplished by foot. Q. How to go on Vasuki Tal trek from Kedarnath? A. The trek begins from a place close to the GMVN Tourist Bungalow and goes all the way to the Vasuki Tal which is at 13,566 foot. The 9-kilometre-long trek takes anywhere between 4 to 5 hours to complete. Once you get to the beautiful Vasuki Tal, you will be surrounded by snow- dusted peaks of Chaukhamba, their beauty reflected in the serene, still waters of the lake. Q. Day 01: home – delhi/haridwar.

Depending on your station of departure, your train will take you to Delhi/Haridwar to begin the pilgrimage to Chardham shrines. The rest of the itinerary has been formulated assuming your Chardham Yatra itinerary has Delhi as base/one of the stopovers. If not, make necessary adjustments with regards to reaching Haridwar.

Day 02: New Delhi – Haridwar

Once you reach New Delhi Railway station, you will be introduced to your driver /tour escort. The holy voyage would begin after filling up of necessary forms. Haridwar is our next stopover. Time for lunch break would be provided at Khatauli. Once we reach Haridwar, we will have you check-in at the hotel. You will be warmly welcomed with a soothing welcome drink! Please attend the short briefing session before dinner. Enjoy dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03: Haridwar – Chami/Barkot/Jankichatti

Wake –up call would ring at sharp 6.00 am. After enjoying your breakfast, you may join us on our journey towards Barkot/Jankichatti/Chatti via Rishikesh. Once we reach Barkot, check-in at the reserved hotel. Indulge in a delicious lunch and cozy overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 04: Chami/Barkot/Jankichatti – Yamunotri – Jankichatti/Chami/Barkot

One has to embark on the perilous trek till Yamunotri shrine quite early in the morning. Pony/palki can be arranged at own cost. After enjoying the beautiful darshan of Maa Yamuna, Surya Kund and Divya Shila at Yamunotri Temple, descend downwards to reach the base-camp. Relax and rewind at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 05: Jankichatti/Barkot/Chami – Uttarkashi/Netala

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will drive towards Uttarkashi, our next pilgrimage stopover. The drive will be along Barkot-Dharasu. Once we reach Uttarkashi and have you check-in at the hotel, you can spend the rest of the day in leisure. A much-needed repose after Yamunotri trek of the previous day!

Enjoy your dinner and retire for an early night’s sleep at the hotel.

Day 06: Uttarkashi/Netala – Gangotri – Netala /Uttarkashi

The day will have us drive for more than 14 hours. Thus, it is advisable to begin the journey earlier than on most days. The wake-up call will ring at 4.45 am, so that we can begin our journey towards Gangotri shrine by 5.30 am. Only poets might come close to expressing the breathtaking scenic beauty which the mountainous paths from Uttarkashi to Gangotri prepare for us. We will halt at the famous site of 21 hot water springs in Gangnani and the sublimely beautiful Harsil in between. We would have reached Gangotri Temple by 1 o’clock in the afternoon. After enjoying a blissful darshan of Ganga Maa, one can embark on the return journey to Uttarkashi so as to reach the hotel by 8.00 pm. It has been an exhausting day with over 14 hours of drive. After a sumptuous dinner, retire for a much-needed early night’s sleep.

Day 07: Uttarkashi – Srinagar/Rudraprayag/Augustmuni/Guptkashi/Sitapur/Phata

We will begin our drive towards the next stopover early in the morning. The drive will take us along Tehri Dam, the highest dam in India. Once the hotel is reached, relax in its cozy environ.

Day 08: Srinagar/Rudraprayag/Augustmuni/Guptkashi/Phata/Sitapur – Gaurikund – Kedarnath

This is perhaps the most challenging day in the entire Chardham Yatra itinerary by IRCTC. This is because the challenging 19 km trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath shrine is allotted to this day. We will embark on our treks from Gaurikund with packed breakfast and clothing for a day in our back-packs. The trek might take around 6-7 hours if one does not employ Pony/palki for assistance. Enjoy a blissful darshan of Kedarnath in the evening.

Day 09: Kedarnath – Sitapur/Phata/Guptkashi/Rudraprayag/Karnaprayag/Birahi/Pipalkoti/Joshimath

After enjoying darshan of Lord Kedarnath once more, in the morning, we can embark on the descending trek till Gaurikund. The vehicles are scheduled to leave by 12.00 pm. We will then be driven to the next stopover en route, with a suitable halt for lunch in between. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10: Sitapur/Phata/Guptkashi/Rudraprayag/Karnaprayag/Joshimath – Badrinath

After an early breakfast, we will move towards the fourth and final of our destinations – Badrinath. If one wants to, one can enjoy darshan of Lord Badrinarayan on the same day. If not, just rest and rewind at the hotel for one can enjoy an early morning darshan on the next day.

Day 11: Badrinath – Joshimath/Pipalkoti/Birahi/Rudraprayag/Srinagar

One has time till 11 am to enjoy darshan and pooja of Lord Badrinarayan. Afterwards, we will be driven to our first stopover on the return journey.

Check-in at the hotel, enjoy overnight stay.

Day 12: Srinagar – Rishikesh

The day involves mostly driving through the scenic terrain of Devbhumi. As usual, we will depart from the hotel by 6.00 am. We will halt at Devprayag, the beautiful confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi. Did you know that it is at Devprayag that Ganga becomes whole? The merger of the two rivers gives rise to the waters of Ganga, revered throughout India for her sacredness that can wash away any sins.

The drive will be resumed letting us reach Haridwar/Rishikesh before evening. We can enjoy the mesmerizing Ganga aarti.

Day 13: Rishikesh / Haridwar – Delhi

Depending upon the location of your home, your train timings may vary. If Delhi falls next on your route, you will be waked up early at around 4.30 so that you can alight on your train to New Delhi by 5.00 am. Your breakfast would be packed and provided too.

The rest of the journey will be adjusted accordingly.

• Infant below 2 years / 12kg are carried free of charge. In case of verification of age, ID proof/birth certificate of the child shall be checked. Children above the age of 2 years will be considered full ticket.

Baggage Allowance

• Only one handbag (Soft Bags/duffle bags) weighing maximum 5 kg is allowed per passenger, there is very limited space for luggage in the helicopter. Trollies are not strictly not allowed.

Helicopter Weight Limitation

• Total passenger weight should not exceed over 350 Kgs for 05 Passengers and 420 for 06 Passengers. Passengers would be taken on board depending up on the load and temperature conditions. Pilots' calls will be final. Beyond the said weight limit the flight won’t be able to take off and your journey will be cancelled effective immediately with no refund. it is vital for you to provide us with the right & exact weight to avoid such situation.
• Guests have to MANDATORILY submit their correct weights at the time of booking. If any change in weight found at the time of their travel, from the submitted weights, which may lead to exceeding of our aircraft weight carrying capacity, guest(s) would be deboarded & cancelled for the heli-tour, without any refund.
• There is no restriction for clothing while you enter in Temple as such. you can wear anything you wish. ladies can wear Salwaar Kameez, track pants etc.
• It is advised to you to reach Dehradun a day prior to the commencement of your journey, since the helicopter will be boarded early in the morning around 6 AM.
• In order to avoid any unforeseen circumstances (like weather change or some sort of an operational or technical issues) which may be an unfortunate cause for your delay, it would be wise for you to book return flight or train tickets for next day (keep at least one additional day in hand). No compensation will be provided if any flight/train or any other things missed out.
• All temples in Chardham are located in high altitude areas. Passengers are advised to kindly keep their daily-use medical kits with them, during travel.

Best Season

• The best season to avail the yatra on helicopter is May, June and September and October.

Communication

• Although all private mobile phones have coverage, BSNL, Airtel mobile is better in most of the places.

Guidelines For Passengers

• Carrying of AADHAR CARD is must for all Indians, whereas passport is required for foreign nationals.
• It is advisable for passengers to carry a medical and first aid kit since all these Dham sites are located at an extremely high altitude which may cause illness to some passengers.
• Passengers are also advised to get a full body checkup done 3-2 months prior to the Yatra in order to assure sound health conditions.
• It is advised for the passengers to carry a small oxygen bottle in case of emergencies. These bottles are locally available in all medical shops.
• Although warm and pleasant during the day, Badrinath Dham experiences freezing temperature during night. Ensure you carry some heavy woolen clothing like down jackets, sweaters and shawls and accessories like woolen gloves, socks and mufflers.
• All passengers undertaking this yatra should be medically and physically fit.
• Overweight charges would be charged to guests who are above 75kg weight. The reason for the same is that we operate at very high-altitude terrain, where the weight carrying capacity of the aircraft is only 420 kg. Hence, due to overweight passengers, we lose seats in our sharing flights. Overweight charges are applicable at INR 1,500 per Kg. This will be decided on a day before the date of Journey. However, if the overall weight of 6 Passengers does not exceed 420 Kgs, then there will be no extra charge for overweight passengers.
• Maximum 05 / 06 Passengers will be allowed in 01 Helicopter.
• The above-mentioned timings are not final. Timings may differ on your date of travel, mentioned timings is tentative just for understanding the operational system & timing. Things can be changed at last moment due to any operational, weather changes, clearance from Air Force & Civil Aviation, VVIP movements, valley flying by Indian Air Force (NOTAM), sudden occurrence of technical snag in helicopter, illness of flying crew & delayed positioning of the guests at the helipads.

Term and Conditions

• There is no provision of concession to children or senior citizens.
• We reserve the right to postpone the timings of flying subjected to weather, operational or technical issue.
• Weighing at the time of boarding the helicopter is a must, since the company shall not allow boarding in case the total weight exceeds the weight limitation of the helicopter. And, due to the same reason, in case of more than 01 available aircraft, we reserve the right to shuffle passengers between different groups to manage the right weight of helicopters for safe flying in the hills.
• While changing the helicopter at Kedarnath or Guptkashi/Phata/sitapur the waiting time is between 10 mins to 3 hrs. depending on Shuttle slots / weather conditions or technical reasons or ground situations.
• Rescheduling of booking to a next date will be done subject to availability and on payment of 10% of the cost. This will be permitted only if applied 7 days before journey date. In case the rescheduling is requested with less than 7 days to the journey then booking will be treated as cancelled and a fresh booking will be given subject to availability.
• If due to any reasons beyond our control like bad weather conditions, flood, Pandemic, riots, political unrest, bandhs, or any other natural or man-made misfortunes, program will have needed to be changed or extended. The additional expenditure for the same will have to be borne by the passengers directly.

Refund as per the refunds/cancellations policy, with no further obligation of Company whatsoever. Any kind of inconvenience caused because of cancellation of flights is beyond the control of the operator. No compensation, reimbursement or arrangements shall be offered in the event of cancellation of a flight.
• Our company shall not be liable for any medical emergency on the ground to the party. Therefore, in your own interest, guests are hereby advised to kindly consult a doctor and get medical check-up done, before commencing the yatra. Medical check-up is mainly required if a guest has any medical suffering/condition.
• In case the journey is not finished within the stipulated time and passengers are not able to visit one or more Dhams due to bad weather conditions/technical reasons then the company will try to visit all places within the stipulated time. Although if this is not possible then the liability of the company will be limited to refund of unutilised sector/s.
• 100% refund shall be applicable in case the entire tour gets cancelled due to any Force Majeure reason, minus flight preparation charges of INR 2,500 Per Person Per Sector and any additional services provided to guests.
• Where bad weather, technical snags or any force majeure reason beyond company control results in the cancellation of the flight being delayed or cancelled, Company will not be liable in any way for the cancelled or delayed flight. However, refund will be given to clients as per the refunds policy. Any kind of inconvenience caused because of cancellation of flights is beyond the control of the operator. No compensation or reimbursement for accommodation, transportation, meals or any other travel expenses done by the guests shall be offered in the event of cancellation of a flight.

History of Kedarnath Temple

There are many stories about the origin of the Kedarnath temple . Some say that it was built in the 2nd century by Raja Bhoj of Malwa. Other tales claim that Adi Shankaracharya made it in the 8th century. As per historians, after the war of Kurukshetra, Pandavas sought to meet Lord Shiva to seek forgiveness for killing their cousins. Lord Shiva wasn’t happy with them and refused to meet. He (Lord Shiva) then left Kashi, and appeared as a Nandi the bull in Guptkashi. When Pandavas found out about this, they immediately left for Guptkashi. Yet again, Shiva escaped and reappeared in five different parts at different places. The face of the bull appeared at Rudranath, arms emerged at Tungnath, the locks in Kalpeshwar, the navel and stomach at Madhyamaheshwar, and the hump at Kedarnath. All these five temples are collectively called Panch Kedar.

As per the second tale associated with the temple, Nara-Narayana, two incarnations of Lord Vishnu, performed penance here. Pleased by their devotion, Lord Shiva appeared in front of them. Nara-Narayana requested Lord Shiva to stay at Kedarnath in his original form. Lord Shiva granted their wish and made Kedarnath as his home. Here, Lord Shiva is known as Kedareshwara.

Architecture of Kedarnath Temple

Be it forest fire, water crisis, landslide or flood, Kedarnath Temple has stood all the test of time. An imposing sight amidst picturesque mountains, the temple, made of grey slab stones, is nothing less than an architectural masterpiece. How to Reach Kedarnath

A must-visit on your Kedarnath Yatra, Sonprayag, located at an elevation of 1829 metres, marks the point where the Basuki and Mandakini rivers meet. The sacred Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is counted amongst the Panch Kedars and Chota Kedarnath. Made of a single stone, Vishwanath Temple is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva proposed to Goddess Parvati. Towards the left side of the temple is a shrine dedicated to Ardhanarishvara. Located at an altitude of 1319 meters on the mountain facing Ukhimath town, Guptkashi is also home to Manikarnika Kund, the place where two streams of the Ganga and Yamuna meets. Since it is one of the largest towns in Uttarkashi district, here you can find many shops to buy religious artefacts, idols, paintings, etc.

Gaurikund, around 16 kilometres away from the Kedarnath temple, marks the commencement point of the Kedarnath Yatra. The place got its name from thermal spring that used to flow through this place before the flash flood of 2013. According to legends - Gaurikund was the place where Goddess Parvati performed penance, involving yoga practices, to win over Lord Shiva’s heart. Lord Shiva accepted her marriage proposal at Gaurikund, and later they got married at Triyuginarayan Temple. This place is also associated with the beheading of Lord Ganesh. The lake here is also called Parvati Sarovar as here Goddess Parvati procured Lord Ganesha as his son.

Vasuki Tal Lake

One can determine the significance of Vasu Tal Lake from the fact that it is believed to be the place where Lord Vishnu took a bath on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This impressive high-altitude lake, located at an altitude of 4328 metres in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, offers a sweeping view of the Chaukhamba peaks. Further, making the aura of the place more divine are Brahmakamals – known to be one-of-its-kind in the world – blooming around its edges. For adventure enthusiasts going for Kedarnath darshan, a visit to Vasuki Tal Lake can be a highlight of their trip. Trekking to the lake is a one-day experience, but it can be extremely difficult for first-time trekkers. It is believed that Kedarnath darshan is incomplete without paying respect to the sacred Shankaracharya Samadhi. Bhairavnath Temple

Bhairavnath Temple (also known as Bhairon Baba Mandir), situated on the southern side of the Kedarnath Temple, is dedicated to Bhairav, a manifestation of Lord Shiva. As per the legends, Bhairav is described as the protector of the Kedarnath Temple and the whole Kedar Valley in the winter season when the temple is closed. As per the rituals, pilgrims going for Kedarnath darshan should pay a visit to Bhairav Temple. The temple is also known for offering a splendid view of the Himalayas and the verdant Kedar Valley.

Triyuginarayan Temple

Widely known as Trijugi Narayan temple, Triyuginarayan Temple, located at an altitude of 1980 metres, is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married in the presence of Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. Since the marriage, a perpetual fire (also known as Akhand Dhuni) kept on burning in front of the temple, which is the reason why the temple is called Akhand Dhuni Temple. There’s also Brahma Shila inside the temple, the sacred place where the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place. You can also collect the ashes of the fire and visit the water-bodies nearby as they’re believed to have originated from Lord Vishnu’s navel. Devotees even carry a wood to offer in the holy fire and then take back the ashes. Along with the silver idol of Lord Vishnu, the temple also features an idol of Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Lakshmi.

Around 1.5 kilometres away from the Kedarnath Temple complex, Rudra Cave, built on the other end of Mandakini River, was built by the Nehru Mountaineering Institute. Constructed by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam as a part of their guest house chain, the holy retreat is an ideal place to meditate in peace. The cave is made of Himalayan stones in a traditional Garhwali style architecture and offers a clear view of the Kedarnath shrine and the Bhairav Nath Mandir . The place is also famous for hosting Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Kedarnath in 2019.

Important Expert Travel Tips for Chardham:-

• While visiting Hindu mythological sites, shrines and temples, one should remove shoes and cover head with a piece of cloth before entering the Holy Place.
• Do carry your personal daily use products toiletries,  creams, moisturizers, sunscreen etc.
• Pack a medical kit with painkillers, antibiotics, cough lozenges, Antiseptic cream, Iodine, tube-squeeze cream and medicines for cold and fever. Carry your routine medicines, as you might find only limited and general medicine at such remote locations.
• Carry dark chocolates, dry fruits, Glucose (Glucon D), toffees. They will provide your instant energy during the trekking and during long jams.
• It can rain anytime here, so it is mandatory to carry an umbrella and raincoat along with your rain shoes.
• To protect yourself from the cold winds here, carry a windcheater, woolen socks, monkey caps and a muffler. These will enable you to withstand the chill that comes with wind on the upper Himalayan region.
• When asking for directions, speak to shopkeepers, not pedestrians. Check with at least two persons or more.
• Do not take pictures if cameras are not allowed in any particular area. Do not play with the sentiments of any particular religion.
• At least a month before the Yatra, it is advisable to start preparatory exercises for the trip 4 months in advance.
• Though self-managed tours happen to be economical, it is advisable for your Chardham yatra to go for a guided tour arranged by an expert local travel agent.
• Carry extra batteries and films for your camera, as electricity is not regular in such remote places.
• Avoid traveling in the rainy season as there are a lot of landslides during that time.
• Book your trip well  in advance if you are travelling close to the temple opening dates, there is a heavy rush of pilgrims. 
• Alcohol or non-vegetarian food is not permitted during Char Dham Yatra Tour.
• Drink packaged water or boiled water only.
• Accommodation Expectation: The provided hotels are of a standard Category unless you have booked Deluxe / Luxury package. Expect Basic Home stay / Guest houses in Kedarnath.
• Meals Exceptions: We provided Breakfast and Dinner to our guests it will be basic Indian vegetarian meals (We do not offer any meals in Kedarnath)
• From Sonprayag to Gaurikund our vehicles are not allowed and hence one has to go with Union Taxi by paying 40-50 Rupee Person one way.

Train Connectivity: Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun are well connected to major cities of India by Railway Network. 

Air Connectivity: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Helicopter service to Kedarnath and Badrinath is available from Delhi, Dehradun, Phata, Augustmuni and Gauchar near Rudraprayag and Jollygrant Airport Dehradun.

If self-driving in Uttarakhand during Chardham

• Always keep your vehicle on left side of the Road.
• Use Horn at curves on hills, never overtake the overtaking vehicle.
• One should not drive more than 8 hours a day in hilly region.
• Avoid driving after sunset, as it is not allowed in hilly area of Uttarakhand.
• Use shoes instead of slippers while driving.
• Check your Brakes and Hand Brakes before starting journey.
• Check the Headlights, Break light and Parking lights of your vehicle.
• Always give way to uphill vehicles.
• Keep your vehicle's valid documents with you to avoid inconvenience.
• Before journey, make sure that fuel tank of your vehicle is full; in case of landslides you might have to take alternate long routes.
• Ensure to refuel, where ever easily you get chance, during season there might be long queues in Petrol Pumps at main stations.
• Carry first aid box with you.
• Do not drink and drive.
• In case of traffic jam, park your vehicle at the end of the queue. If you initiate a parallel queue, the traffic from other side might force you to drive in reverse gear, till you reach again at end of the original queue. And you may find it very difficult to drive long in reverse gear on a hilly road.
• Do not compete with local vehicles/drivers. They know the terrain very well.

Kedarnath Dham is a town in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. It is known for its Kedarnath Temple, which attracts thousands of pilgrims worldwide every year. At approximately 86 kilometers from Rudraprayag, the district headquarters, Kedarnath mandir is one of the most remote of India's four Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites. It is located in the Himalayas, about 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) above sea level near the Chorabari Glacier-the source of the Mandakini River.

The Kedarnath temple is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, most notably Kedarnath Mountain. The nearest road head is at Gaurikund, about 16 km away. Kedarnath yatra has been a pilgrimage center for centuries. According to the Mahabharata, the Pandava brothers built an altar for Lord Shiva at Kedarnath. However, there is no mention of  Kedarnath mandir in the Mahabharata. One of the earliest references to Kedarnath Dham occurs in the Skanda Purana (7th-8th century), which names Kedara (Kedarnath) as the place where Lord Shiva released holy waters from his matted hair, resulting in the formation of the Ganges River.

Day 01: Haridwar to Guptkashi.

Attraction:

• Enroute witness the Mandakini River at Tilwara, the river Mandakhini comes from Kedarnath. We also visit Ardh Narishwar Temple.
• Evening arrive in Guptkashi means “Hidden Benares”. Mythology describes how when the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi, but later fled from them further up the valley to Kedarnath, where the Pandavas finally got their wish fulfilled.

Day 02: Guptkashi to Sonprayag to Kedarnath.

• From Sonprayag Take local Taxi to Gauri Kund operated by local taxi association at cost of INR 30-50 Per Person (Pay directly).
• If you reach early in Kedarnath have an opportunity to witness evening Aarti Ceremony at the Temple. The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva.

Note: Meals in Kedarnath will be on direct payment.

Day 03: Kedarnath – Gaurikund by trek - Sonprayag – Haridwar.

• Morning attend Aarti Ceremony at Kedarnath Temple.
• Thereafter we descend to Gaurikund by Trek approx 16-18 Kms (Leave as early as possible, latest by 8 Am).
• Gaurikund to Sonprayag Taxi stand by local taxi at own cost.
• From Sonprayag hop into your vehicle and drive to Haridwar (Vehicle will leave from Sonprayag / Sitapur at 1300 Hrs , make sure to be on time)

• Remaining amount of your booking will have to be paid 1 days before the date of travel .

Tour Amendments / Cancellations Policy If the Client is willing to amend or cancel his/her booking because of whatsoever reasons including death, accident, illness, or any other personal reasons including non-payment of the balance payment, the Company is liable to recover Cancellation charges from the Client, as company had already paid your amount in advance in order to Guarantee your services.

Note:- 1.    100 % Voucher will be provided if the trek/ tour is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances or any kind of Natural Calamities, Political Unrest, and Sudden Global Health Concern, Riots, Lockdown Government instructions etc. in this case Trekveda will issue you a voucher of respective amount having 1 year validity from Voucher date, which can be used in any trek of your interest operated by Trekveda

Itinerary Policy

This itinerary is a sample itinerary based on the information available at the time of publication, all information given in this program Trekveda reserves the right to change any program information before or after your booking the tour due to any events beyond our control. In case if we are aware of any changes sufficiently in advance we will notify you at the time of booking, otherwise our Tour Manager or Local representative will inform you of the changes. Major road works or floods, landslides may necessitate route changes in the itineraries. All of these may cause us to make changes in the itineraries. ACTIVITIES OF THE ITINERARY 

Trekveda is a travel and holiday organizers only, we do not control or operate any airline, neither do we own or control any shipping company, coach or coach company, Hotel, Transport or any other facility or service mentioned in this program. We take care in selecting all the ingredients in your holiday; but because we only select and inspect them and have no control in running of them, we cannot be responsible for mechanical fault or any injury, death, loss or damage which is caused by the act or default of the management or employees of any hoteliers, airlines, shipping company, coach owner/ Transport operator who are the company’s independent contractors arising outside our normal selection and inspection process.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:-

1. There is no Contract between the company and the client until the company has received the initial deposit amount per person as specified for each tour package. The full payment must be received in accordance with procedures laid down under Payments Terms. If not paid in that time, the company reserves the right to cancel the booking with consequent loss of deposit and apply scale of cancellation charges as mentioned in the cancellation policy hereunder.

2. The Company has the right at any time and for any reason:-

• To terminate the Contract after acceptance of the deposit but prior to the Commencement of Tour without assigning any reason whatsoever. In the event, the Company terminates the Contract, the company shall refund the initial deposit amount without payment of any interest.
• To amend, alter, vary or withdraw any tour, holiday, excursion or facility it has advertised or published or to substitute an Independent Contractor of similar class if it is deemed advisable or necessary. In either case, the Company shall not be liable for any damage, additional expense, or consequential loss suffered by the Clients or for any compensation claims made.
• The Company would be operating its Group Tours with minimum group strength of 6 adult passengers in each group. If the group strength falls below 6 passengers, the Company reserves the right to Pre-pone OR Postpone OR Merge or Cancel the group. If the Company cancels the Group Tour for any of the above reasons then the monies paid till then by Clients will be refunded against the receipt copies. It is clear understanding between either parties that any loss arising on account of cancellation of flight / train / bus tickets booked by the Clients; either through the Company or on his/her own or through a third party; the Company shall not be liable for such losses or additional expense, or consequential loss suffered by the Clients.

3. No person other than the Company, in writing, has the authority to vary, add, amplify or waive any stipulation, representation, term or condition in this program.

4. In the event of the Company exercising its rights to amend or alter any of the services as mentioned in the itinerary, after such tour or holiday has been booked, the Client shall have the right:

• To continue with the tour or holiday as amended or altered.
• To accept any alternative tour or holiday which the company may offer. In either of these above cases the Client shall not be entitled to, or the Company shall not be liable to the Client for any damage. Additional expense, consequential loss suffered by him or to pay any amount as refund.

5. In case of any dispute, decision of TREKVEDA will be final and binding.

6. TREKVEDA reserves the right to call you back on the contact number shared by you on the website. Health & Safety: The Company shall in no circumstances whatsoever will be liable to the Client or any person traveling for:

• Any death personal injury, sickness, accident, loss, delay, discomfort, increased expenses, consequential loss and / or damage or any misadventure howsoever caused
• Any act, omission, default or Independent Contractor or other person or be any servant or agent , employed by them who may be engaged or concerned in the provision of accommodation, refreshment, carriage facilities or service for the Client or for any person travelling with him howsoever caused.
• The temporary or permanent loss of or damage to baggage or personal effects howsoever caused In this condition the expression “Howsoever caused” includes negligence on the part of any person.

7. No liability on the part of the Company arising in any way out of this Contract in respect of any tour, holiday, excursion facility shall exceed the total amount paid or agreed to be paid for the tour holiday, and shall in no case include any consequential loss or additional expense whatsoever.

8. If the Client has any complaint in respect of the services provided by any of the Independent Contractors, the Client shall immediately notify the same in writing to the Independent Contractor and a copy thereof should be handed over to the Tour Manager of the Company in order to enable the Company to take up the matter with the Independent Contractor so that in future other Clients do not face the same difficulty. a) Any claim or complaint by the Client must be notified to the Company in writing within 07 days of the end of this holiday tour. No claim notified to this Company beyond this period will be entertained and the Company shall incur no liability whatsoever in respect thereof.

9. Each of this condition shall be severable from the other end if any provision be invalid, illegal or unenforceable. The remaining provisions shall nevertheless have full force and effect.

10. Insurance: The tour cost does not include any costs towards the Travel / Meclaim Insurance premium. In case if the Client needs an Insurance coverage, it is suggested to go for suitable insurance policy on your own. The Client has to deal directly with the Insurance Company in case of settlement of any claim. 

11. Change in Tour Price: The tour prices printed / advertised / quoted to Client are dynamic prices. The person booking tour early is likely to get the lowest price as communicated / offered by the Company, subject to availability of seats. Similarly, person booking tour at the last will be offered the highest prices. This pricing module has been adopted to get early bookings on tours. Hence it is quite obvious that persons travelling on a same group tour are likely to have paid different tour prices. The Company will not entertain any claim whatsoever on account of the same. Also it is clear agreement between either parties that the prices quoted in the proposal / brochure have been calculated based upon the prevailing hotel / transport tariffs and applicable taxes thereon at the time of printing this brochure. The Company reserves the right to amend the price published in this program in case of costs increased before the date of departure. All such increases in price must be paid for in full before departure by the Client. The company also reserves the right to charge offer time to time as per the present situation demand / circumstances.  

12. Force Majure:-Acts of god (including exceptional adverse weather conditions), earthquake, fire , war (declared or undeclared), invasion, rebellion, revolt, riot, civil commotion, civil war, nuclear fission, Lockdown, strike, act(s) of omission/commission by any concerned government(s), or government agencies, judicial or quasijudicial authorities, occurrence of any event can force the Company to change or extended. Hence any additional expenditure occurred due to the above reasons the same will be borne by the passengers.

13. Please note trekking / driving time given in the program are approximate and it may vary due to break for refreshments, photography, bad weather and Road conditions.

The menus are pre – set menus provided for breakfast/lunch/dinner on the tour as mentioned under each Tour itinerary and inclusions as printed in our brochure. The meals will be served at restaurants of hotel of stay. The enroute meals or meals during excursions could be packed meals or served by enroute/local restaurants / Dhabas. We cannot process a special meal nor do we guarantee the special diet to the customer. We however reserve the right to change the meal arrangement if circumstances make it necessary to do so. If a tour participant does not avail his/her meal in stipulated time; he/she has to avail the meal on his/her own arrangement and expenses. No claim can be made for the meal which he/she has missed and not utilized.

Itinerary Changes

For the comfort and convenience of our clients, we will sometimes reverse the direction, or slightly amend the itinerary. We will try to advise you of these amendments, prior to the start of the tour or on tour. In the event that a tour participant misses on any part of the sightseeing tour or any such tour due to delay on his part, he will not be entitled to claim refund of the same.

We have mentioned the indicative names of the Hotels for each tour. We reserve the right to change the same due to unavoidable circumstances. In that case we may provide alternative, similar accommodation for which we are not liable to pay any refund. We will not be responsible or liable in case of loss of property or life at the Hotel. Similarly any damages caused to the hotel rooms during your stay, shall be payable by the Clients and the Company will not be liable for the same.

Transport / Coach / Sitting

We use Deluxe 2 X 2 Coaches or vehicles such as Tempo Traveller, Tata Winger, Chevrolet Tavera, Mahindra Scorpio, Toyota Qualis, Tata Sumo or similar as per the availability of vehicles and actual size of the group. Our tour manager / local representative will take reasonable care of your luggage but if you are carrying any high value items on the coach, we advise you not to leave them behind when you leave the coach. We will not be responsible or liable in case of theft or robbery of the said items from the coach. All baggage and personal effects are at all times and under all circumstances your responsibility. Any damages caused to the hotel rooms / coach during your stay, shall be payable by the Clients and the Company will not be liable for the same. The drivers of the vehicles are bound by specific rules like maximum driving hours within a day/during a week, rest period per day/week etc. Clients will have to strictly adhere to the prescribed timetable for the day so that the driver can complete the travel. In case, any of the sightseeing schedules is missed due to delays caused by the client, the same will not be refunded to the client under any circumstances.  Please note that AC will not work in Hills and no claims to this regard shall be entertained.

Risk and Liabilities - Clients shall agree that Trekveda shall not be held responsible for consequences of natural calamities, weather condition, failure of scheduled airline, detention and delays due to quarantine, strike, theft, force major, civil disturbance, government restriction or regulation, accident by aircraft, car, bus or any other form of transport relating to program schedule. The travelers understand that such situations may occur, and we will inform you of the situation as soon as we have knowledge of it. The right is reserved to cancel or alter any package as conditions require, all additional cost occurs in such case will fully be borne by the travelers. Also, Trekveda shall not be held responsible for any loss/damage of your personal belongings.

• Please be reminded that all special requests like early check-in, smoking, non-smoking, views, floors, king, twin, adjoining and/or interconnecting rooms are strictly subject to availability upon arrival and cannot be guaranteed prior. Any expenses arising out of this is to be borne by the customer.
• Only 01 extra bed/mattress is allowed per room. This extra bed means a Mattress / Roll over Extra mattress on floor provided where proper extra bed isn’t available. 
• In case of guests cannot climb the higher floors, we request you to update this at the time of booking so that we may take appropriate action and try for rooms in the Ground floor. This is again subject to availability and difference if any will have to be settled directly before check out.
• In hills, hotels may be located in a way where the view might be of a building in the front, beside or behind it. 
• There will not be any refund in cased any of the sightseeing is missed/uncovered during the trip.
• The Hotels may/may not have some of following amenities as per its policy. Tea/coffee maker/ mini fridge/ enhanced toiletry kit (with moisturizer, tooth paste, brush, shaving kit, lufa, bathroom sleepers, bath-robe) etc.
• For meal plans, menu will be on fixed plan/ buffet basis and not on A-la-Carte basis. MAP & AP Meal plans do not include Evening snacks & cold drinks / liquor, Soups or Deserts. For order on A-la-Carte basis, guests are requested to make direct payment for additional items.

Incidental charges due to unforeseen situations 

All arrangements made by Company are in the capacity of an agent only. Company will not be liable for claims or expenses arising from circumstances beyond our control such as accidents, injuries, delayed or cancelled flights & acts of Force majeure/ traffic jams / traffic halts/ diversions/ bandh/ curfew, Union strike, VVIP movement, etc. – We will request you to bear with us the situations beyond our control. We will arrange for alternate sightseeing. In case of discontinued itinerary due to these reasons no refund on the hotel booking will be provided and alternate accommodations (as per availability) are managed in the place where you have to stay back. While it is our endeavor to manage the alternate arrangements during such scenarios, please note the difference may be charged for the same.

2. What are some of the issues we can face on the journey?  Carry ample cash with you as you won’t find ATMs everywhere so it is better to be with enough cash to utilize in case of an emergency. No matter which month are you selecting for your Char Dham Darshan, you are always advised to carry woolens with you as there is no consistency in the climatic condition especially night becomes cold? You are not going to find medical stores everywhere in the state so do carry your medical kit to avoid any serious trouble.

3. Is opting for helicopter services to cover this holy Yatra is better option? There are many benefits if you complete this religious tour with helicopter services like it transforms this immensely challenging journey into a simpler and faster one.

4. What are the documents needed for this pilgrimage? Valid ID proof like Aadhar Card, Driving License, Passport (mandatory for foreigners), etc. Other things that you need to carry along with you are medical kit containing that particular medicine if you have any prolonging illness, if you are covering the trekking trails then you must be equipped with trekking gears like a proper pair of shoes, comfortable dresses, etc.

5. Is the journey safe for senior citizens? Yes, it is safe for every aged person; however, it will be very difficult for the old-aged people to cover the trekking distance on foot, so they can opt for helicopter services.

This registration procedure has become compulsory after the flood incident in 2013. Also, both online and offline mode of registration is available that one can select as per their wish.

7. Is there any issue in finding accommodation there? No, there are enough hotels established in the state and the regions where you will be making your halt on the way to the pilgrimages. • MAGICAL THAILAND EX VISHAKHAPATNAM పేరుతో ఈ ప్యాకేజీని ఆపరేట్ చేస్తోంది.
• 5 రాత్రులు, 6 రోజుల టూర్ ప్యాకేజీ ఇది. వైజాగ్ నుంచి అందుబాటులో ఉంటుంది.
• సెప్టెంబర్ 7, 2024వ తేదీన ఈ ప్యాకేజీ అందుబాటులో ఉంటుంది. ప్యాకేజీని ముందుగానే బుకింగ్ చేసుకోవచ్చు.
