Kaziranga guide – Safari Costs, Timings, Best time to visit and tips

One horned rhino at Kaziranga

Kaziranga National park is located in Assam in north east India. It is a UNESCO Word heritage site and is known for Great Indian one horned rhinoceros. It habitates two-thirds of the world’s one-horned rhinos and as per the last census, there are more than 2400 rhinoceros in this sanctuary. It is also home to 25 globally important and 21 threatened birds. Kaziranga also hosts more than 110 tigers. This is the maximum density of tigers compared to any other tiger reserves in the world. Of all the national parks that we have visited, we loved Kaziranga the most. It is located along the banks of mighty river Brahmaputra and has vast expanse of fertile soil. This lush green sanctuary has beautiful landscape and is a photographer’s paradise.

Kaziranga - Photographer's delight

Use this first time guide to plan your visit to Kaziranga and what to look forward to.

When is the best time to visit Kaziranga?

March and April are the best months to visit the national park. The park is closed between May and October. Kaziranga is prone to floods every year and the authorities decide on the date to open depending on the floor situation. The weather starts getting hot by March and more animals can be located near water sources. Also, there is a controlled burning of tall elephant grass in the forest area during Feb end. This leaves the fields open and easier to spot animals.

How many days in Kaziranga?

Kaziranga national park is divided into 4 zones, also called ranges. Every range is unique in terms of the landscape and flora & fauna found. If you want to get a glimpse of the famous one horned rhino, even one Safari is enough. But if you want to check out all the ranges (which I will definitely recommend), a minimum of 2 full days is required. While Kaziranga is best known for its rhinos, it has the maximum density of tigers compared to any other tiger reserves in the world. Our guide Parag assured a guaranteed tiger sighting if someone committed to six safaris with him. So if you want to spot a tiger, plan for minimum 3 days at Kaziranga.

How to reach Kaziranga?

Kaziranga does not have any direct connectivity by air or rail. It is however, well connected by road to most of the major cities in Assam.

By Air: Closest airports are Guwahati (215ks) and Jorhat (75 kms) in Assam and Dimapur (170 kms) in Nagaland.

By Train: Guwahati (190 kms) is the nearest major railway station, but Jorhat (90 kms) and Furketing (75 kms) have stations too.

By Road: Kaziranga falls on the national highway NH 37. There are regular buses from Guwahati, Tezpur and Dimapur. All buses passing through Kaziranga stop at Kohora gate. We took a flight to Guwahati and had plans to go to Kaziranga by bus next morning. However, we hired a cab for 3 days at the last minute because our kiddo was not well and we thought journey by bus would be hectic for him.

Where to stay in Kaziranga?

There are many lodges in and around the major zones: Bagori(Western range) and Kohora(central range). This is where most tourists prefer to stay because of ease of accessibility to transport & food. Unless you are looking for a luxury resort, I will recommend Aranya Lodge, Prasanthi Lodge or Jupuri Ghar near Kohara main gate. These are government properties and are centrally located. We stayed one night at Prasanthi and one at Aranya lodge.

Prasanthi Lodge, Kaziranga

What are the different ranges in Kaziranga and what’s their speciality?

Kaziranga is divided into 4 zones:

Bagori Range (Western):

Bagori has the maximum density of rhinos. Along with rhinos, you can also spot swamp, sambar and hog deers, water buffaloes and numerous species of birds.

Rhinos can be seen up-close during elephant safari

Kohora Range (Central):

Kohora range has the longest safari route and takes around 3-4 hrs to complete the safari. You can see elephant, buffaloes, deers, turtles along with many birds. We were lucky to spot otter playing in grass, turtles basking in the sun, eagle, kingfisher, hornbills and huge number of monkeys. If you are luckier than us, you may be able to spot a tiger or two too!

Rhinos, deers and buffaloes together in the Kohara (Central) range

Agaratoli Range (Eastern):

Eastern range is the wetland and has a huge variety of birds. Along with rhinos, elephants, water buffaloes and deers; you can spot incredible flocks of waterfowl especially bar headed geese, waders, pelicans, eagles and many other migratory birds. The density of rhino is less in this range.

@Eastern range, Kaziranga

Burapahar Range:

This range is known for capped langurs and migratory birds. This is the least visited range because there are not many rhinos / elephants in this range.

What are the various types of safaris at Kaziranga?

Kaziranga has 2 types of Safaris: Elephant safari and Jeep Safari.

Elephant safari:

Elephant safari is allowed in 2 ranges – Bagori (Western) and Kohora (central). The one in central range is organized by the government and there are very few elephants, each of which carry anywhere between 2 to 4 tourists. Tickets for elephant safari in this range is difficult to obtain as most of them are issued to foreign nationals. There are around 25 trained elephants for safari in the western range and its much easier to get tickets through agents or through the lodge. Tickets are available for sale one day in advance at the central booking office (near Kohora range) between 7 pm and 8pm. It is best to get the tickets through the hotel/agent because they can get you confirmed seat. Elephants can get on the grassland where rhinos are munching and wildlife viewing is much more rewarding in this case.

Duration of elephant safari: 1 hr. Elephant Safari timing at Kaziranga:

Jeep Safari:

Jeep safari is allowed in all ranges and the route is defined for these jeeps. Since jeeps can go deep inside the forest, there is a better chance to spot animals in wild. Jeep Safari timings: Morning 7:30 am to 12 noon and afternoon 1:30 pm to 5 pm.

What to do in Kaziranga apart from safaris?

Safaris take a lot of time in Kaziranga. Each jeep safari is 3 – 4 hrs and elephant safari is 1 hr. While you have flexibility to finish earlier in jeep safari (if you are not sharing it with others); the ride through the forest is lovely and the landscape is a treat to the eyes. There are a few other attractions in Kaziranga which can be done if you have time:We were there till the end of safari time and could have easily spent more time inside.

Kaziranga National Orchid garden and bio-diversity park: This is one of the largest orchid gardens in India and definitely deserves a visit. There are some 850 varities of orchids found in north east India and the park has more than 500 of them. The green house is lovely, and so is the photo house. There is a small playarea for kids, a tree house, a flower & fruit collection. You can also order Assamese thali inside the garden. The park also organizes a cultural program every evening at 6:30 pm for 2 hrs and a small 10 min cultural dance show happens every 30 min at the park.

Orchids at the orchid garden

Kaziranga Sandhya: Assam government organizes a one hour cultural program every evening at 7 pm. Artists perform Bihu dance and a Zhumoir dance and involve guests in the program; which makes it an enjoyable evening.

Kaziranga Sandhya near Kohora gate in Kaziranga

Kakochang falls: The Kakochang falls is also called Kaipholangso falls by locals. It is around 30 kms from the Kohora gate and till few years was not accessible. The place is gradually gaining popularity now because of the scenic view and bamboo chicken served by locals around the place. It requires a mimimum of 1 km of trek if you take a jeep which can cross small streams; otherwise you need to trek around 3 km of easy trek. You will need to budget around 4 hrs for the visit. We did not get a chance to go there but saw pictures on our guide’s phone.

Bamboo Chicken - photo taken from internet

Tea gardens: Assam tea is world famous and the area around Kaziranga has tea gardens on both sides of the road. You can visit one of the tea gardens near the Kohora or Bagori range and even buy some Assam tea from the stores around.

Tips for visitors at Kaziranga National Park:

  • Book a guide well in advance and have him take care of the tickets. The charges of guides is same whether you plan it yourself or through the hotel. Having a good knowledgeable and experienced guide makes the safari more enjoyable and memorable. I can recommend 2 guides – Parag Hazarika (Phone No. +91 8471813140 (Whatsapp) and 7002 241097) and Prafulla (Phone No: 99549 53056). Both of them are very experiences and passionate about what they do. They took care of both elephant and jeep safari for us.
  • Book accommodation in advance: We wanted accommodation at  Aranya Lodge but it was fully booked even 4 months in advance. You can check accommodation phone nos. on http://www.assamtourismonline.com/properties.html
  • Carry enough cash, lodges/ restaurants do not accept card.
  • Don’t rush through safari: Start safari on time and give enough time for each safari. There are many animals / birds in the sanctuary and spend as much time as you can.
  • Carry a good binocular: If you don’t have one, ask your guide if he has one. Close encounters will be very few and its difficult to get the best experience without a good binocular.
  • Carry mosquito repellent.
  • Take some books / games for the evening. There is not much to do after 6 pm; unless you are going for the cultural program. You will need something to do in the leisure time.
  • Government lodges don’t have internet connectivity so make your own arrangements if you need connectivity.
  • Keep extra camera batteries/ memory cards / power bank for phones if you plan to take lots of photographs.
  • Kaziranga is plastic free zone and plastics (except water bottles) are strictly not allowed during the safari. Take a bag along to keep your belongings and get the your litter back with you.

Kaziranga National Park is synonymous with exhilarating wildlife sightings and the major draw of the sanctuary is the famous One-Horned Rhinoceros. The national park spans almost 40 kilometers in length, 13 kilometers in width, and getting to the right place could seem like a daunting task. Kaziranga offers safari in four different zones with the option of an Elephant safari, a boat safari, and a Jeep safari. With our Kaziranga safari guide, you will be able to plan your trip flawlessly.

Park Ranges

So where exactly do you need to go? Kaziranga National park is a huge place but there are four ranges that it is divided into – Central (Kohora), Eastern (Agoratuli), Western (Bagori), and Burhapahar. The one that sees the most tourist footfalls is the Central range, Kohora. 25 minutes from Kohora is the Western range and this has the shortest safari route but the highest density of Rhinos.

The Eastern Range is about an hour’s drive from Kohora, has the longest safari route, and is perfect for birding enthusiasts. So, if you are looking for specific requirements from your Kaziranga safari experience, talk to a local guide before you choose which range to visit. Located close to Kohora is the Kaziranga Tourist Complex which offers facilities like booking services, jeep rentals, safari information, and restrooms. However, you don’t need to worry about the bookings, rentals etc. since our travel experts will do this for you.

Safari timings, and booking process

The Kaziranga National Park safari service is available between the months of November and April each year. During other months, the park remains close to tourist activities. Kaziranga offers three types of safari experiences – Jeep safari, boat safari, and Elephant safari.

The one-hour Elephant safari starts off early in the morning between 5:30 and 7:30 and is conducted in the Central and Western ranges. If you are a foreign national, you will only be allowed in the Central range as the safaris here are managed by the Forest Department. Our tour experts can help you book the safari tickets so that you don’t have to go through the trouble of standing in queue at the booking office.

The Jeep safari takes place between 7:30 to 11 am and then again from 2 pm till 4:30 pm. These last for two hours each. Bookings for the Jeep safari can be made on spot or can be done through the Tourist Complex as well. Do note that the payment is per jeep and not per person. So, if you are traveling alone or in small numbers, you can join another group so save on the jeep cost.

Elephant Safari slots but our travel experts can help you get these tickets much in advance. Our Kaziranga safari experiences usually include the safari services. But in case, it’s not included in the package then we will be happy to book these tickets for you.

Jeep Safari

If you are looking for a 2-hour safari then hiring a jeep for the safari will surely be an enjoyable experience. The jeep safaris operate in two slots – 7:30 am to 11 am and then again from 2 pm till 4:30 pm. The tours are often conducted by our tour guide or an escort and you will get to enjoy the open-air ride through the beautiful forest in the comfort of the jeep.

As you drive through the forest, you will get a chance to see tigers, one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffaloes, elephants, a herd of deer, Pythons, and many other mammals & birds. For the Kaziranga National Park safari, we will hire a Jeep that is registered with the Jeep Safari Associations.

Elephant Safari

If you’d like the true Kaziranga safari experience then you must book the Elephant safari through us. The slow-paced safari lasts for an hour and the best time to do it is early mornings. Typically, 4-6 people get to share one Elephant and it’s the best way to traverse through the tall green grasslands from where you get a bird’s eye view of the landscape. The Elephant safari is available in Kohora, Bagori, and Burapahar ranges but the Jeep safari is permissible in all four zones.

The morning ride timings are 5:30 am to 7:30 and another afternoon batch is from 3 pm to 4 pm. To make the most of your Elephant safari experience, do make sure that you carry good binoculars or a zoom camera lens to be able to spot wildlife hiding in the undergrowth. In case, you are not comfortable with getting on an Elephant or not in favor of using animals for safaris, then you can book the Jeep or boat safari.

jeep safari timings in kaziranga

Boat Safari

The boat safari is an interesting experience through the waterways of Kaziranga National Park and should definitely be included in your itinerary. The one-hour long boat safari goes through the confluence of the Brahmaputra and Dhansiri Rivers located near the park.

During the boat safari, you will be able to cruise through the waterways of Kaziranga and get the opportunity to spot animals who come to the watering holes to quench their thirst. The increased gathering of wildlife near the water brings with it the predators who hide in the undergrowth, waiting for the opportune moment to hunt.

Best time for safari in Kaziranga National Park

The Kaziranga National Park is open from November till April and you can go anytime for the wildlife safari. The park is partially open during the months of October and May but it is not recommended to go during that time due to unfavorable weather conditions. During the safari season, especially in winters, you could look at skipping the early morning safaris since due to the presence of fog you might not be able to see very clearly. Once the fog subsides and the sun is out, spotting wildlife will be easier and you can take stunning pictures of the wildlife in the park.

jeep safari timings in kaziranga

What can you expect to see during the safari?

A lot of people think that the most common sighting inside the Kaziranga National Park will be of the One-Horned Rhino. Yes, that’s partially true since most of the rhino population in India resides in Kaziranga. But there is so much more to see than just the Rhinos. On a good day, you should be able to see the Royal Bengal Tiger, Wild Buffalo, Deer, and numerous bird species as well.

What you see depends on how good your guide is, the part of the forest you are in, and a little bit of luck as well. A good guide would know the best places to explore for maximum sightings and you will have to constantly follow your guide’s instructions for sightings.

Kaziranga National Park: A safari guide’s tips on the best time to visit, permits, hotels

By Sharanya Kumar

Kaziranga National Park A safari guides tips on the best time to visit permits hotels

Greater one-horned rhinos, Royal Bengal tigers, Gangetic river dolphins and hoolock gibbons (the only ape found in India)—each of the four zones at Kaziranga National Park offers a sighting as unique as the other. Situated in the lap of the Brahmaputra floodplains, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is not just known for the sheer range of its wildlife, but also its stunning landscapes—from marshy wetlands to savannas that spread as far as the eyes can see.

However, in order to make the most of everything the park has to offer, you have to time your trip right, get your permits in order, and book a hotel that’s conveniently located from the park. Naturalist Pallab Prakash Saikia,  who has nearly a decade of experience at Kaziranga and served as one of the guides to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their visit in 2016, offers insider tips on what to spot, the best zones for sightings, and much more.

What makes Kaziranga National Park special?

By boat, on foot, in a jeep, or on the back of an elephant, there is a myriad of different ways to explore Kaziranga, and that’s what makes the park truly special. Unlike many national parks in India, sightings here are guaranteed. “Within the first hour, you will spot at least seven-eight one-horned rhinos, some even with their calves. In another zone, if you hop onto a boat, you’re sure to see Gangetic river dolphins leaping out of the water by the dozen. Even tiger sightings are getting better by the day, with at least one a day. Last year, I even saw a tiger and tigress mating,” says Pallab.

Kaziranga’s lush Terai-Duar savannas are one of the last remaining grasslands of India. The park’s topography of wetlands, grasslands and woodlands is a unique composition, and the density of animals in Kaziranga is found in very few other national parks. Kaziranga has the highest population of one-horned rhinos in the country, with 2,613 rhinos in the park at the moment. According to a 2022 census, the park is also home to 121 tigers. Pallab points out that the rhinos at Kaziranga National Park have become accustomed to being in close proximity to humans. You can witness them in all their glory from as close as 10-20m.

Petting the rhino is strictly prohibited. But Pallab recalls the first time he had the opportunity to touch a rhino. The animal had wandered out of the park and into a neighbouring village due to flooding in the forest. He was desperate to wallow in some mud and water to escape the scorching heat. Pallab and his fellow guides led the rhino to a stream and gently bathed it. “His skin was rough, but he was incredibly placid.” However, it is important to remember that these gentle giants can be quite aggressive when provoked, and are extremely protective of their calves. Tease the rhino, and they will not hesitate to charge.

What to spot at Kaziranga National Park?

Kaziranga has 30 mammal species. Besides the one-horned rhinoceros, you can also spot tigers, water buffalos, the endangered swamp deer, elephants, pangolins, porcupines, fishing cats, leopards, hog deer, sambhar, otters, sloth bears, hog badgers, and wild boars. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the Assamese macaque, capped langurs and the hoolock gibbon. Gangetic river dolphins reside in the Brahmaputra, and are easy to sight all year round. They are heavily protected by the local authorities at Kaziranga.

The park also has 500 different species of birds, both migratory and resident. Some of them are winter migrants, while others are summer. Siberian ducks and geese are seen in the winter. Great hornbills, oriental pied hornbills and a variety of raptors are seen all year round.

What’s the best time to go to Kaziranga National Park?

The park is open from October to April, as Kaziranga gets flooded by the mighty Brahmaputra during the monsoon months. The best time to visit is between November and March, because the cool weather and lack of rain make for an ideal trip, says Pallab. During this period, all the animals, including rhinos, Gangetic river dolphins, elephants and tigers, can be spotted. If you want to bird-watch, November to February is ideal, as the migratory birds start making their way back in March and April. Tourists prefer coming in the winter, while photographers prefer March and April, when the visibility is higher.

How many safaris should you do during a 3-night stay?

Four safaris are ideal; one for each zone, suggests Pallab. Since the boat safaris are almost an hour away from the core zones, he suggests setting a day aside for that.

What are the safari slots in Kaziranga?

There are two safari slots each day, one in the morning from 7.30am to 10am, and the other in the afternoon between 1.30pm to 3pm. You are guaranteed a rhino sighting no matter what time you choose to go. However, you can only catch sight of gibbons in the mornings, as they typically rest in the afternoons, and are hard to spot after noon.

How to book a safari permit at Kaziranga and how much does it cost?

Tourists can book permits online on the official  website . The entry fee to the park is Rs115* per person for Indians and Rs700* for foreigners. Unlike many other national parks in India, Pallab stresses that visitors need not be concerned about any limitations of slots when they book their permits, as there are a large number of jeeps and guides ready to go at all times of the day.

How to book a jeep and guide at Kaziranga?

While it is better to book jeeps  online , you can also do it on the spot from the Jeep Safari Association counter, which is located right outside the park. Jeep rentals vary for different zones—central is Rs4,000*, western is Rs4,100*, eastern is Rs4,900* and far west is Rs5,500*. Jeeps and naturalists can also be arranged by your hotel at an extra cost.

It is not mandatory to hire a guide at Kaziranga, as jeep drivers are typically knowledgeable about the park and its wildlife. But if you wish to be accompanied by a local guide, you can hire one on the spot for anywhere between Rs700* and Rs1,000*.

Which zones are the best at Kaziranga National Park?

There are four zones in Kaziranga. First is the eastern zone or Agoratoli, which is preferred to spot elephants and birds during the morning slot. The central zone or Kohora is great for tigers and rhinos. While tigers roam in all four zones, the central zone has the highest number and is the best for tiger sightings. The western or Bagori zone is good to spot rhinos, too, as it has a larger grazing area. Since they are easily visible out in the open, this zone is particularly good for rhino photography. Sometimes you can spot tigers here as well. Lastly, the far west or Burapahar zone is good for gibbons and capped langurs.

Besides jeep drives, what else can you do in Kaziranga?

You can ride an elephant (for Rs1,450); it won’t take you too deep into the jungle, but you can spot rhinos and several other animals on this joy ride. You can also explore the Burapahar zone of the park on foot accompanied by a guide. If you’re in the mood to spot dolphins, the boat safari adventure starts from Kaliabhumura and Silghat (about 45 minutes away from the core zones), and costs Rs7,000.

Best time for Rhino Sighting

Best time for Rhino Sighting

Kaziranga National Park is open for visitors between the months of November and April. The park becomes inaccessible during the remaining time of the year because it is flooded with water from Brahmaputra River during monsoon. Since the park houses a large population of endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros, so you can be certain to sight the rare animal during jeep and elephant safaris any time during these months. However, the probability of sighting rhinoceroses increases during the spring season. The day temperature soars and it gets hot, compelling rhinos to stay close to water bodies to quench their thirst. However, the probability of sighting rhinos is good even during the winter months of November and December as the animals like to spend time out in the open to bask in the sunlight due to a cold climate. All in all, it can be said that the best time to visit Kaziranga National Park for Rhino sighting is from March to April. Time: Though you can easily spot rhinos near water bodies at any time of the day, early morning safari is recommended for a comfortable safari experience during the months of March and April. However, if you are considering exploring the park during winter months, afternoon safaris may also offer you great sightings. Moreover, the temperature during the afternoon is pleasant.  Must Checkout:  Sikkim Tour Packages From Chennai                              Sikkim Darjeeling Gangtok Tour Package from Pune

Frequently Asked Questions

Which of the two is a better mode of wildlife safari - Jeep or Elephant?

Both the safari options have pros and cons associated with them. While elephant safari lasts for 1 hour, jeep safari lets you explore the jungle for 3 hours. Elephant safari is comparatively more expensive and it could get uncomfortable sitting on an elephant for that long while riding on a jeep is more comfortable. However, elephant safari is rewarding as you can sight rhinos and tigers from a comparatively closer distance than you can on the jeep safari. So, the better option for you is the one that suits your comfort.

What are preferable morning safaris or evening safaris?

Though it is purely a matter of chance, morning safaris are preferred by most visitors at Kaziranga National Park since the animals are more active early in the morning as compared to the afternoon. However, if the luck is on your side, the time of the safari barely makes a difference as you can spot rhinos and tigers in the morning as well as in the afternoon. It is advisable to indulge in the activity of elephant safari in the morning and jeep safari in the afternoon to double your chances to sight the magnificent wildlife species in the park.

Which amongst all zones is the best zone?

Kaziranga has a total of 4 ranges: Central Range, Western Range, Eastern Range, and Burapahar Range. Every range has its own specialty when it comes to sightings. Kohora or the Central Range is generally believed to be the best range for safari as it houses a dense population of rhinos and elephants. To spot tigers and migratory birds, the Eastern Range is preferred by visitors. While the Western range features a mix of rhinos, gaurs, elephants, etc. So, you can pick a safari zone as per your wildlife preferences.

What is the probability of witnessing a Rhino?

Kaziranga National Park houses a total of approximately 2,500 rhinoceroses, which makes the probability of sighting extremely high. However, the probability of spotting rhinos also depends largely upon the zone and the timing of safari. Kohora Zone has the highest density of rhinoceroses, so if your interest lies in witnessing rhinos, opt for this zone. Morning elephant safaris are recommended. You can almost be sure to catch at least a glimpse of a rhinoceros if you are exploring the right zone at the right time.

Is a permit required for the personal camera or video camera? What is the procedure for obtaining this permit? Can you help?

You do not need a special permit to carry or use your personal or video camera inside the park. However, there are different charges for using still cameras, movie cameras, and video cameras inside the park.

What are the documents required, in order to book the safaris?

If you an Indian citizen, you can make an advance booking for safari by providing  Voter ID, Aadhar card, or Driving License. If you are a foreign citizen, your passport details are mandatory.

Do I need to make any advanced payment for prior booking?

Yes, in case of advance booking, safari entry fee is to be paid in advance. Also Checkout:  Kaziranga Trip Package                             Shillong Trip Packages

Lovrijenac

Fort Lovrijenac, often referred to as St. Lawrence Fortress, has historically served as one of Croatia's oldest significant fortresses. It is regarded as "Dubrovnik's Gibraltar" because of its placement on a steep mountainside just beyond the city's main wall. This spectacular architectural structure rises an astonishing 37 meters above the Adriatic and proved to be invincible during the numerous Venetian sieges that were launched after it was completed in the 11th century. In fact, according to legend, the Venetians originally intended to construct a tower onsite but were outdone by resourceful local residents. Fort Lovrijenac is accessible through two drawbridges and a passageway via its remarkable walls, which are as thick as 12 meters in certain parts, and is distinguished for its odd triangle structure with its multiple terraces. The fort not only serves as a tourist destination but also as a location and silhouette for Dubrovnik's renowned Summer Festival as well as its numerous theatrical and musical acts.

A Jeep Safari experience at Kohora Safari Range in Kaziranga National Park ~

kaziranga safari booking, jeep safari kaziranga, elephant safari kaziranga, kaziranga

At Kaziranga National Park, we organize many Jeep Safari experience for our esteemed guests. Our team owns Jeeps here that are registered with the Jeep Safari association of Kaziranga National Park and we are able to successfully conduct Jeep Safaris here at Kaziranga. Jeep Safari into Kaziranga National Park is conducted across four (4) ranges of the Park at Central range (Kohora), Western range (Bagori), Eastern range (Agoratoli) and the Burapahar range (Ghorakati). Our Jeep safari ride lasts for about an hour and a half after entry into the park and a large part of the interiors of Kaziranga National Park can be covered by this Jeep Safari across each of the Safari ranges. The most popular among the four ranges covered by Jeep Safari are the Kohora and Bagori ranges. The Eastern range and the Burapahar range are slightly away from the main center area of Kaziranga National Park at Kohora and the rush here is less as well. All the ranges are good for animal sighting especially the Indian One Horned Rhinoceros of Kaziranga National Park. Agoratoli range may offer you a chance to spot Tigers, Wild Elephants and various species of birds here at Kaziranga National Park.

We narrate to our esteemed readers and future guests at Kaziranga National Park one of our Jeep Safari experiences with our guests from Bangalore. We had finished our Elephant Safari ride at the Bagori Safari range of Kaziranga National Park by 7.30 AM and returned to our guest house at Kohora by 8 AM. We freshened up and had a quick breakfast and scheduled to leave by 8.45 AM from the place to go for a Jeep Safari ride into the interiors of Kaziranga National Park at the Kohora (Central) Safari range. Krishna our team member who had also arranged for our Elephant Safari arrived with the Jeep in front of our guest house and the five of us would go for a ride at Kohora safari range. The Jeep would take us along the designated jeep safari circuit route at the Kohora Safari range starting from Mihimukh – Kathpora – Daflang -Diffalu river bank – Monabeel -Kerasing and back with designated stop at Kathpora Tower, Daflang Tower and Kerasing Tower.

We reached the safari entrance gate at the Kohora range and we could see a few Jeeps waiting ahead of us making their entry at the Safari gate. At the Kohora Safari range of Kaziranga National Park Indian nationals (non VIPs) are allowed to go for a Jeep Safari ride into the park interiors. We showed our entrance tickets at the gate and started on our Jeep safari ride. The roads are not plain and the ride gets bumpy as well. The Jeep is an all open ride and once you enter the park you can stand behind to admire the varied flora and fauna of Kaziranga National Park.

Just on entering the Jeep safari route at Kohora we got lucky and sighted a wild Asiatic water buffalo crossing the road ahead of us. The driver halted the jeep for a while and we admired the creature taking its walk along the wilderness of Kaziranga National Park. A little while into the Jeep safari ride we spotted few deers grazing ahead of us. Small animals these deers once inhabited various forests and wildlife reserves across the State of Assam. But with uncontrolled hunting their population have now been reduced to smaller numbers inside the protected National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries of Assam. We continued on our Jeep Safari ride into Kaziranga National Park and next up we sighted wild boars and jungle fowls in an open area here. All along the way we also sighted the One Horned Rhinoceros from a distance grazing in the open fields of Kaziranga National Park. We thought we could get lucky by being able to sight the Rhinoceros very close to us but it didn’t happen as yet.

Next up we spotted a herd of Wild Elephants bathing at a poolside here on our Jeep Safari ride at Kaziranga National Park. These mighty beasts looked amazing and we waited for a while to click pictures. We also spotted various birds like lesser adjutant stork, black necked crane, barbets, egrets, parakeets, kingfishers, etc. While coming back on our Jeep safari ride we got lucky and we spotted a rhinoceros crossing our path. The driver slowed down the jeep and allowed the animal to cross the road. It went to a side behind the trees and we got lucky to click pictures from the Jeep. It was an amazing ride here at Kaziranga National Park and we were fortunate to have sighted many animals species in one ride alone. We came out of the park at around 10.30 AM. We thanked the Jeep Safari driver for an amazing ride here in Kaziranga National Park and also Mr. Krishna for all the trouble taken in arranging our safari ride into Kaziranga National Park. We headed back to our guest house taking a bouquet full of memories of our Jeep Safari ride in Kaziranga National Park.

A Jeep Safari experience at Bagori Safari Range in Kaziranga National Park ~

While the Bagori Safari range or the Western Range of Kaziranga National Park is well known for its Elephant Safari Rides (for Indian Nationals), this range is also a good option to go in for Jeep Safari ride as well. As many visitors prefer to do an Elephant Safari ride at Bagori and then head to Kohora range for Jeep Safari, the Jeep Safari rides at Bagori Safari range in Kaziranga National Park doesn’t see a huge amount of traffic. In this part we narrate our experience of conducting a Jeep Safari ride for a school group of 35 students and 3 teachers from Tinsukia at the Bagori Safari range in Kaziranga National Park.

The school group had arrived at Kaziranga National Park in the morning and their accomodation was arranged near the Kohora range of the Kaziranga. After getting fresh and having a quick breakfast the group led by our team member Krishna approached the Bagori Safari range. The Jeep Safari ride was scheduled at 8 AM but due to a certain delay the time to start the Jeep Safari was extended to 8.30 AM. To accommodate the entire group 6 Jeeps were ready for us and we started the Jeep Safari ride into the Bagori Safari range in Kaziranga National Park. We could see guests coming out of the Park after completing their Elephant Safari ride here. Bagori Safari range allows Elephant Safari ride for all Indian nationals to Kaziranga National Park. We entered the range for our Jeep Safari ride across the following circuit ~

Bagori – Dongabeel – Rowmari – Rajapukhuri – Monabeel and back with designated stop at Donga Tower

A little ahead into our safari ride we spotted a beautiful huge bird in the open grasslands of Kaziranga National Park. We admired the beauty of the bird for a while until it flew away. Next we continued on our Jeep Safari ride and a little ahead we spotted the Indian One Horned Rhinoceros from a close distance at the Bagori Safari range of Kaziranga National Park. We continued on our Jeep ride further into Rowmari and we spotted wild boars. There were jungle fowls around the area as well. We spotted swamp Deers from distant at the range as well. Next we continued on our drive into the park and reached at the Monabeel area and we got lucky to spot a Wild Elephant from a distant. It was an amazing sight to see this mighty beast in the wild. We started on our return drive back to Bagori. On our ride back we sighted a wild Asiatic Water Buffalo in a water pool. The animal looked majestic and Kaziranga National Park is home to the highest population of Asiatic Wild Water Buffaloes in the world. We inched a little ahead and got lucky to see an Assamese Roofed Topped Turtle waiting by the pond here in Kaziranga National Park.

There were many other species of birds we spotted here as well. On our way back we spotted another huge adult Rhinoceros from a close distance as well. We came back to the entrance point and took a right to make a final stop at the Donga Watch tower area here at Bagori Safari Range in Kaziranga National Park. Here everyone got down from their Jeeps and we admired the vast forest expanse of Kaziranga National Park. Here everyone posed for a group picture with the students and the faculty members. There is a huge lake area here at the Donga Beel and there are many species of fish to be seen here. We could see the ‘Sital’ fish jumping on the waters of the Donga Beel. It was lovely to sight these species here. We boarded our Jeeps again and came out of the park at 10 AM after completing an hour and a half long ride of Jeep Safari in Kaziranga National Park at the Bagori Safari range. We thanked all the drivers once the safari ended and alighted the bus to go back to Kohora range in Kaziranga National Park.

A Jeep Safari experience at Burapahar Safari Range in Kaziranga National Park ~

kaziranga safari booking, jeep safari kaziranga, elephant safari kaziranga, kaziranga

One of the most unique experiences of enjoying your Jeep Safari ride in Kaziranga National Park is at the Burapahar Safari range. The Burapahar or the Ghorakati range is located on the outskirts of the main area of Kaziranga National Park from Kohora (a distance of about 25 km). Many tourists to Kaziranga National Park are unaware of this range and hence do not visit here leaving the place less crowded and hence best to explore. This Jeep Safari range in Kaziranga National Park covers a larger area than the other ranges around here and hence takes a longer duration to cover as well. Over the years we have conducted a few Jeep Safari ride experiences for our guests at the Burapahar safari range and here we narrate our experience of hosting our guests from New Delhi on a Jeep safari ride at the Burapahar Safari range.

This Jeep safari ride was conducted recently on 7th December 2018. We wanted our visitors to enjoy a unique experience here in Kaziranga National Park and so we arranged their Jeep safari ride in the Burapahar range. The Jeep safari ride was scheduled in the afternoon slot as the guests would be arriving from Guwahati on our vehicle only by afternoon. Krishna our team member was ready with all the arrangements and formalities at the forest office of the Burapahar range of Kaziranga National Park. The guests arrived at 12.30 PM and after a quick lunch the Jeep Safari ride started at 1.30 PM to follow the following designated safari circuit ~

Ghorakati – Potahibeel – Diffalu – Tunikati and back with designated stop at Tunikati Tower

The Burapahar range of Kaziranga National Park is famous for the deer species found in the park of the likes of Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer and Indian Muntjac and indeed it is true as we were able to spot 3 of the deer species here on our Jeep safari ride. A little ahead into the ride we sighted the Indian One Horned Rhinoceros from the Jeep. An amazing beast, the adult female rhino was grazing along with her calf here. Next up continuing on our Jeep Safari ride we spotted a herd of Wild Elephants waiting by a water pool. It was a magnificent sight to see these huge mammal species of Kaziranga National Park in the wild. We were also lucky to sight Asiatic Wild Water Buffaloes and various species of Birds like Great Indian Hornbills, Pelicans, Cormorants, Snake Bird species, etc. It was a wonderful experience enjoying our Jeep Safari ride at the Burapahar range of Kaziranga National Park. We didn’t realize how our time passed away and two hours were up soon. At around 3.30 PM we came out of the park and boarded our car back on our journey to Guwahati.

A Jeep Safari experience at Agoratoli Safari Range in Kaziranga National Park ~

In the month of December 2018 we conducted our Kaziranga tour package with our guests from New Delhi. Across most of our tours our visitors from India choose to have an Elephant Safari ride in the morning from the Western (Bagori) safari range and then they prefer a Jeep Safari mostly at the Central (Kohora) safari range. But our guests this time were nature enthusiasts and animal lovers as well and so they did not want to take an Elephant Safari ride into Kaziranga National Park but opted for Jeep Safaris across all four (4) ranges of the park. In this piece we narrate our experience of hosting them on a Jeep Safari ride into the Agoratoli range of Kaziranga National Park.

kaziranga safari booking, jeep safari kaziranga, elephant safari kaziranga, kaziranga

The Agoratoli safari range entrance is located about 23 km away from the main center point of Kohora in Kaziranga National Park. This distance factor makes Agoratoli range a less frequented range by the army of tourists who come every year to Kaziranga National Park. With the solidarity inside this range as not many Jeeps go in for a ride is what makes the Agoratoli range one of the best ranges for bird watching here in Kaziranga National Park. Some of the bird species to be spotted on your Jeep Safari ride here are Bengal floricans, Great Hornbills, Wreathed Hornbill, Greater Spotted Eagles, Spot-Billed Pelicans, Black necked Storks, etc. Agoratoli range is also where tiger sightings often happens in Kaziranga National Park. Wild Elephants, Asiatic Water Buffaloes, Indian One Horned Rhinoceros, Hog Deers, etc are also common sightings here at the Agoratoli range as well. But visit this place on a Jeep Safari ride if you are an avid bird watcher and want to enjoy your safari in calm.

kaziranga safari booking, jeep safari kaziranga, elephant safari kaziranga, kaziranga

The Jeep Safari ride was scheduled in the morning slot at 8 AM and Krishna our team member led our guests to the Agoratoli Safari range of Kaziranga National Park. Our guests were already finished with their Jeep Safari rides across the other range of the park at Kohora and today was their final ride in Agoratoli range before they headed back to Guwahati. The entry passes were checked at the entrance gate of this range and the group started their Jeep Safari ride here across the following circuit ~

Agoratoli – Soholabeel – Rangamatia- Maklung – Turturani- Dhuba and back to Agoratoli with designated stop at Sohola Tower

The time of Jeep Safari scheduled inside the park was for 2 hours. A short while into the ride near the Soholabeel area our guests had their first sighting of the Indian One Horned Rhinoceros of Kaziranga National Park. They even spotted it from a very close distance as well. Next up there were a few bird sightings of the likes of Pelicans, Hornbills, Bar Headed Goose, Herons, etc. It was an amazing experience for our guests to be able to sight these magnificent species in the Wild. Proceeding further near the Maklung area they were able to sight a herd of Wild Elephants by a pool of water. Proceeding further at the Dhuba area they sighted Asiatic Wild Water Buffaloes and Hog Deers. This was the Jeep Safari ride end point and they started on their ride back to the entrance of the Agoratoli range. Along the way they sighted more species of birds like Darters, Barbets and the very grand Black Necked Stork species. There were other migratory bird species as well. They finally arrived at the Sohola tower area where they made a stop for pictures. At around 10.15 AM they were out of the Agoratoli safari range and went back to their Resort to pack their belongings and head on their journey back to Guwahati from Kaziranga National Park.

We had come to Guwahati for a convention and had less time in our hands to explore Kaziranga National Park. Krishna suggested we explore the Burapahar range after coming from Guwahati as it was the nearest and also less crowded as well and then go back to Guwahati. The tour was executed with perfection from pick up at Guwahati to drop. We sighted hog deers, swamp deers, wild water buffaloes, wild boars, rhinos and various bird species at the Burapahar Safari range. Thank you for all the arrangements.

Krishna is one of the most enthusiastic and amazing person to work with. We had a last minute plan to visit Kaziranga National Park and we enquired with Jungleideas for our accommodation and Jeep Safari. Even though most of the good accommodation options at Kaziranga National Park were full, Krishna arranged for our stay in one of the decent guest house properties here. He arranged for our Jeep Safari rides at the Central and Eastern ranges of Kaziranga and it was wonderful having a naturalist and guide with us on the Safari who helped us identify  various animals and bird species of Kaziranga National Park. Thank you so much for all the arrangements.

Our last minute plan to visit Kaziranga National Park in the month of December turned out to be a challenging experience as most of the accommodations were running full and the ones available were charging higher than the normal rates. We had contacted Jungleideas and Krishna from their team assisted us with everything from finding a decent guest house with amazing hospitality and food to arranging the Jeep Safari for us at the Western range of Kaziranga National Park. The Jeep driver and the guide took utmost care for our better sightseeing experience here. Exploring Kaziranga National Park with Krishna turned out to be an amazing experience for us! Accomodations and Jeep Safari at Kaziranga National Park

Our last minute plan of arranging for accommodations at Kaziranga National Park proved to be a challenge as we are budget travellers and the decent stays at Kaziranga National Park were asking for too much money for the four of us. We informed Krishna to arrange for our stay and Jeep safari ride at Kaziranga National Park and he did not disappoint us. He arranged on short notice our stay at a nice and decent guest house and arranged for our Jeep safari ride the next morning as well. The driver took us deep inside the forest interiors with a total duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was an amazing experience. Thank you Krishna!

Mr. Arunav was very helpful in providing us all the requisite information for Jeep Safari at Kaziranga National Park. Our company directors had come for their visit to Kaziranga National Park and as the date was not sure of their visit Arunav helped us to arrange for a last minute plan to visit Kaziranga National Park on a tuesday morning. As they were 10 members in total we required 2 Jeeps and Krishna from their team immediately arranged for the Jeep safari in the afternoon slot. It was a wonderful and simple experience to book our Jeep Safari rides here at Kaziranga National Park with this team. The Jeep drivers were very knowledgeable about the terrain of the Kohora safari range of Kaziranga National Park and guided our guests quite well. Thanks a lot to Arunav and Krishna for all the help and arrangements.

We were 19 of us and Krishna arranged for 3 Jeeps for us on our arrival the next day morning. It was an exciting and thrilling experience going on the Jeep Safari ride into a UNESCO World Heritage Site and we were lucky to have sighted various animal and bird species including the One Horned Rhinoceros. We were lucky to have contacted this team prior to our Jeep Safari experience in kaziranga National Park. We were aware of Jeep Safari in Kohora range of Kaziranga National Park but during our time of visit (due to Rainfall the previous few days) the Jeep Safari rides inside Kohora range was restricted to only 30 minutes time due to muddy roads. Krishna advised us to undertake the Jeep Safari at Bagori safari range of Kaziranga National park and we were not left disappointed. The ride at Bagori lasted for one and half hours and we got the full experience of the money we had paid. The Jeep driver cum guide guided us well with the terrain of Kaziranga National Park and we ended up sighting many rhinos, asiatic wild water buffaloes, wild elephants, deer, many birds, etc. Thank you Krishna for advising us well and organizing our Jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park.

Krishna guided us well along our safari rides along with the Jeep driver who was well accustomed to the terrains of Kaziranga National Park. Thanks a lot to Krishna for making our visit memorable.

We had a last minute plan to visit the Kaziranga National Park and we had contacted this team from Jungleideas to help us with our bookings here. Krishna from the team assisted us with the airport transfers, accommodations, Elephant and Jeep Safari bookings. Our Jeep Safari ride was a highlight of the visit to Kaziranga National Park. We took our Jeep Safari ride at the Eastern range of Kaziranga National Park at Agoratoli and this was an good choice as not many tourists were around in this range. We could sight various animals like rhinos, elephants, hog deers, wild buffaloes, sambar deers and many bird species. Thank you Krishna for all the arrangements and your support. Looking forward in visiting Kaziranga national Park again soon.

Mr. Krishnendu Dey and family

Krishna assisted us with our Jeep Safari bookings at the Western range of Kaziranga National Park. We choose the western range on his recommendation and did not regret the decision as our main motive of sighting the Indian One Horned Rhinoceros in the wild was fulfilled. We spotted more than 15 of them here at Bagori in Kaziranga National Park on our jeep safari ride. Krishna has also assisted us with our accommodations at Kohora in Kaziranga National Park and the pick up and drop from the guest house to the safari point. It was a really amazing experience and all thanks to Krishna for the arrangements.

I was on a visit home at Tezpur in Assam from Bangalore where I work. A few friends and myself had made a last minute plan to visit Kaziranga National Park from Tezpur and wanted to do a Jeep Safari ride at Kaziranga National Park. I contacted Arunav who guided me to Krishna to arrange for our Jeep Safari at Burapahar range the very next day itself. Krishna assisted us with the booking process and our Jeep safari ride was confirmed. The next day we reached Kaziranga National Park but due to heavy rains the previous night the Jeep safari at Burapahar was not being conducted. Krishna immediately arranged to take us to Bagori Safari range and our Jeep Safari ride was conducted here. It was a wonderful experience sighting the varied species of flora and fauna here. He also refunded the amount that was additional for Burapahar range. Thanks to the team who were so accommodating and helped make our visit to Kaziranga National Park a memorable one. Thank you again.

We took our tour of Assam and Aruanchal Pradesh with this team and Krishna made all arrangements for us from booking our vehicles, accommodations, permits, safaris, etc. We took our Jeep safari rides at Kaziranga National Park at the Eastern, Burapahar and Western ranges. The Jeep that took us along was in a very good condition and we were accompanied by Krishna, the Jeep driver and a forest guard. All of them were equally knowledgeable about the terrain of Kaziranga National Park (language was a barrier though that Krishna bridges successfully) and Krishna himself being an avid birdwatcher and photographer helped us identify various bird species on our Jeep Safari ride across the ranges. The forest guards played his bit by making us see various animal species as well. All thanks to Krishna and Arunav for their efforts and organizing and executing our tour perfectly. Looking forward to visit North East India again during the Hornbill festival of Nagaland with this team.

This was our first visit to North East India and we were covering Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya across 9 days. Arunav was my batch-mate in college while we were pursuing our masters and he was known to be a guy who executed all his tasks with responsibility and precision. So I ensured to book my North East tour with him. As he was busy during our time of visit he entrusted Krishna from the team to make all arrangements for our tour and he ensured to answer all our queries and design a customized itinerary for our tour. We took Jeep Safari at the Western range of Kaziranga National Park in the afternoon and guess what we got lucky to spot the tigers of Kaziranga National Park. The Jeep driver informed us that only a lucky few visitors get a chance to sight tigers here at Kaziranga and we were blessed to have this opportunity! We also spotted many rhinoceros here along with capped langurs, hoolock gibbons, deers, sambar deers, hog deers, wild elephants, wild boars, jungle fowls, Asiatic wild water buffaloes, etc. Out tour was well planned and executed by this team and we look eagerly in exploring more of North East India especially Assam and Nagaland with them.

Our last minute plan to visit Kaziranga National Park and to enjoy our Jeep safari ride at the Burapahar range turned into a hurdle as we couldn’t find any Jeep Safari operator ready to conduct the safari at Burapahar range as this range is far from the main central area of Kaziranga National Park. We got in touch with this team and Krishna readily agreed to assist us with our Jeep Safari rides here. Our safari ride was confirmed upon paying a nominal amount as advance towards our booking. We arrived at the entrance of the Burapahar Safari range of Kaziranga National Park the next day and the Jeep was awaiting our arrival. Jadu the jeep owner had come along with his Jeep and he took us into the forest reserve of Kaziranga National Park at the Burapahar range accompanied by a forest guard. There were no other safari rides and we were the only people taking this ride. We chose Burapahar as the ride is longer here and takes us quite inside the forests of Kaziranga National Park. The Jeep ride was interesting and we spotted many rhinoceros, hog deers, Asiatic wild elephants, Asiatic wild water buffaloes, wild boars, deers, jungle fowls and various bird species of Kaziranga National Park. Thank you for all the arrangements and awesome Jeep ride!

We were travelling from Kerala and had priorly booked our jeep safari ride at Kaziranga National Park at the central range. However, we were arriving early afternoon and hadn’t planned on taking any safari and so we made a final plan to visit the Burapahar range and enjoy our Jeep safari ride here. Krishna arranged for our jeep safari the very next day afternoon at Burapahar range and we were greeted on our arrival at the Burapahar range by him. As our visit coincided with the Assamese New Year of Rongali bihu there were many visitors to Kaziranga National Park but interestingly only a few people were here at the Burapahar range. The Jeep ride went well and we spotted various animals and bird species,. Thanks to Krishna for all the arrangements.

I was travelling with my family (my wife and young son) and was not aware much about the Jeep safaris being conducted in Kaziranga National Park. I happened to come across this website and got a fair idea of exactly in which safari ranges of Kaziranga National Park Jeep Safari was being conducted. As we wanted to stay away from the very touristy circuit we choose Burapahar range and Krishna helped us with our Jeep Safari bookings here. The safari ride was confirmed upon payment of a token amount as advance and we reached Kaziranga National Park for our safari day here. The Jeep picked us up from our place of stay in Bagori and the driver took us on a well guided ride inside the forest reserves of Burapahar. The Jeep rides was amazing and we ended up sighting various animals and birds with the highlight being the flagship species of Kaziranga the Indian one horned Rhinoceros. Thank you team for all the help and arrangements.

We visited Kaziranga National Park towards the end of April and it turned out to be during the closing season. Many visitors had come over to Kaziranga National Park as it for the last time in this season they could take their Elephant and Jeep Safari rides into the park interiors as the gates of Kaziranga National Park would close for tourists from the 1st of May 2019. I contacted these people over internet and to my surprise I was informed that Kaziranga National Park had reopened for Jeep Safari for tourists. Krishna helped me with the bookings on a short notice of a day and we had a successful Jeep Safari ride at the Western Range of Kaziranga National Park. We had planned on visiting Kaziranga National Park and this team helped us a lot with our Jeep Safari arrangements at the Eastern range of the Park. While many of the operators insisted us to take a ride in the Kohora and Bagori range Krishna offered us to take a tour of the eastern range of the park and it was a nice decision we took as there was less tourist in this range and we had nice sightings of wild animals including the rhinoceros from a very close range.

As a part of our 12 member group package handled by Arunav we undertook Jeep Safaris at the Eastern and Western ranges of Kaziranga National Park. Our morning safari was at the Eastern range of the park where we sighted various species like Rhinoceros, Hog Deers, Asiatic Wild Water Buffaloes, various birds like Grey Headed Fish eagle, Black Necked Crane, Wild Elephants, Wild Boars, etc. But the highlight was the Western range of the Bagori at Kaziranga where we had close encounters with Rhinos and even had a Male Wild Elephant charge towards our jeeps. At the Sildubi lake we spotted a rhino from about 2 feet distance and even got to sight two rhinoceros fight for territory. It was indeed a wonderful experience of safari here at Kaziranga National Park.

We had finished our elephant safari ride in Kaziranga National Park as the western range in the early morning and we had not availed our jeep safari as we had our flight back from Guwahati in the evening. But our driver told that we could easily reach Guwahati by afternoon even if we took our jeep safari at Kaziranga. So I called Krishna and he helped to arrange the Jeep safari for my family at 7.30 AM at the western range itself and the jeep came to pick us up. It was good to know that in such short notice the team had arranged our jeep and we went into the western range of the park to sight various animal species and the experience was thrilling. My friends from USA had contacted me for their safari bookings at Kaziranga National Park and as they would be flying in from Delhi and would be staying with us at Nagaon we decided to go for a day of Jeep Safari at Kaziranga National Park. I had contacted Arunav and he had explained the various details about the safaris here at Kaziranga. The various jeep safari ranges and elephant safari ranges were explained to us and also how the prices varied from Indian and Foreign nationals. We asked Krishna to make arrangements for 2 jeeps as there were 12 adults and 2 children and they arranged for the bookings. However due to the recent happenings because of the implementation of the CAB, there were numerous unrests across Assam and so our group was skeptical whether to travel to Kaziranga National Park for their Jeep safari or not. Finally they decided to come over and I agreed with Krishna to make the final arrangements and did not regret it. The Jeep safari ride was conducted smoothly for our group and all of us enjoyed the ride a lot. Kudos to this team for working and planning our safari even with these recent happenings. We look forward to visiting Kaziranga National Park for our safari rides soon.

Our family of five members had made a long plan to visit Kaziranga National Park and take a tour of Meghalaya as well. We had made all our bookings and Krishna assisted us with our Jeep safari ride here in Kaziranga National Park and as we did not not want to go for Elephant Safari ride. But due to the unrest in Assam because of the implementation of CAB, we were reluctant to continue on our visit but Krisha convinced us to come and he personally would assist us with our travel and so we continued with our plan of visit to Kaziranga National Park. Our jeep safari ride was executed very nicely and the driver cum guide showed us around the park and we did many animal sightings. A very wonderful safari experience at Kaziranga and all thanks to Krishna for his motivation to come along and help.

As a part of our Christmas plans and to refresh from the unrest due to the CAB across Assam we decided to come to Kaziranga and take a Jeep safari ride to explore the varied flora and fauna of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and this would be an ideal retreat for our Christmas holidays. We contacted Krishna through this website and it was a very simple process of booking the jeep safari ride with them. We had planned on a day trip from Jorhat and so we went for our safari ride in the interiors of Kaziranga National Park in the morning at around 8.30 AM and Krishna instructed the jeeps to be present at their office before the Kohora range of Kaziranga National Park and we embarked on our ride. With the numerous cancellations there were quite few tourists at Kaziranga and we enjoyed the safari ride in calm.

This was before the unrest that prevailed in Assam before the implementation of the CAB and we had a tough time searching for accommodations here at Kaziranga National Park as december is the peak season here and visitors from all around the world come here. We thankfully found these guys over the internet and Krishna immediately assisted us with our bookings. Actually we wanted a resort accomodation but due to unavailability we had settled for a decent accomodation that was newly built named as Kaziranga Holidays just near the State Bank of India building at Kohora in Kaziranga National Park. Along with the accommodations Krishna helped us book our jeep safari rides at Kaziranga as well. On the day we reached we were surprised that not many people were present in Kaziranga due to unrest and they had cancelled their visit. As we already made our reservations we did not change it and enjoyed our stay here at Kaziranga and also our safari ride as well.

We were a group of 18 people and we travelled early morning from Jorhat as we had some work there and after our safari ride we would continue to Dimapur and we wanted to do the longest safari range at Burapahar but Krishna instead guided us to continue our safari at the Western range as the sighting of animals were not happening well at the Burapahar range even though it meant that they would make less margin our of our ride. It was nice to know that people cared about your experience and not only the money. We took 3 Jeeps that guided us well across the western range on our safari here at Kaziranga National Park. On our drive to Jorhat from Guwahati we made a sudden plan to do a round of jeep safari at the central range of Kaziranga National Park while we were having our lunch here at a restaurant near the Kohora range. I spotted a jeep safari office just adjacent to our restaurant and enquired if they had a jeep available to take us for a safari ride into the park interiors. Krishna who was present at the office immediately arranged for a jeep to take the four of us on a safari ride at the Kohora range of Kaziranga and his fast and prompt response is what is needed for tourists to enouy the real tourism potential of Kaziranga National park and Assam. Our ride lasted for an hour and half and we spotted many rhinos and other animal species as well. Thank you Krishna for the assistance.

The recent turmoil in Assam due to protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act had subsided and tourists were showly visiting the famed UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its population of Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. We made our safari bookings with Krishna and we were a family of four visiting Assam and Kaziranga National Park for the first time. As our parents were aged so we did not opt for the Elephant safari rides and only the Jeep safari into the interiors of Kaziranga. Our jeep safari was booked at the western range of Kaziranga National Park at Bagori as we were taking an afternoon jeep ride and Krishna suggested we take it up in this range and it was a decision we didn’t regret. Our objective to visit Kaziranga National Park to sight the one horned rhinoceros was fulfilled completely as we got to spot many of them and some from very up close as well. The hour and half long jeep safari ride was one of the most thrilling experiences of our life and thanks to Krishna we took the ride at the western range or else we would have gone to the Burapahar range in Kaziranga National Park where our sightings of rhinos might not have had been this amazing. Thanks a lot for your assistance and we look forward in visiting Assam and Kaziranga National Park again soon!

We booked our jeep safari with Krishna who ensured it to be a very smooth process. We were coming to visit Kaziranga National Park on the first day of opening for the tourist season 2022-23 and it was sure to be a lot of rush as the National Park was opening after a gap of 4 months. With the visit of Sadhguru and Guruji Sri Sri Ravi Shankar it was sure to attract a good publicity for the tourism here at Kaziranga National Park and no wonder when we visited the park we found a lot of tourists who had come to attend the Day 1 of the opening of the park. It was a wonderful experience of going for jeep safari at the Central range of Kaziranga National Park. A visit to Kaziranga National Park is a must for all wildlife lovers coming to visit the place and all thanks to Krishna we could book our jeep safari without any hassles. He also helped us to book our stay at a nice guest house that provided us all the modern facilities at budget prices and it was a wonderful experience.

It was our first time visiting Kaziranga National Park and we were travelling all the way from Mumbai to Kaziranga National Park. We contacted Krishna over the internet and he immediately got to checking out the availability for the jeep safari rides and stay for us. It was a seamless process to book the safari ride and the hotel and as we were not fussy about the deluxe resorts and so he arranged to make our stay at a budget guest house that had all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay experience here. We simply filled the requirements form on the website and we were contacted immediately by Krishan who explained to us about the accommodation options and the safari options. Only jeep safari was made available as the park has reopened after the monsoon season and the track had been repaired inside the park. It was a positive experience and everything was kept ready for us as we just had to arrive and reach our place of stay here at Kaziranga National Park and Krishna Ji has made all arrangements and even our jeep safari vehicle picked us and drop us back at our guest house.

Jeep Safari at the Central and Western Ranges of Kaziranga National Park was opened to tourists during the month of October 2022 as it was time of the Durga Puja vacations and so many of the locals as well as the domestic and international tourists had come to Kaziranga National Park to be a part of the celebrations of the first days of the start of the season here at Kaziranga National Park. We were  group of 12 members that comprised a family along with our children and we contacted the team to help us book our jeep safari rides inside the forests of Kaziranga National Park and he had recommended that we take our jeep safari rides at the central range of the park because this is known as the place that is known for the various animals sightings along with the Tigers of Kaziranga as well. The road tracks inside the forests of Kaziranga National Park was just repaired after the monsoon season and so we were not able to do a full two hour safari but yet the experience was amazing because we were able to spot many animal species inside the park. Our jeep vehicle was equipped to show us around and it was in very good condition as well and the owner of the vehicle himself drove us inside the forest interiors and he took every opportunity to stop and show us the animals inside the park.

We also boked our stay with Krishna itself who recommended and arranged our booking at a very nice guest house that was located near the Central range of the park and it had all the basic modern facilities that is needed to make the stay of guests comfortable here at Kaziranga National Park. Our jeep safari vehicle had come to pick us up at the guest house itself and we did not have to think much about how to travel to the safari point and Krishna Ji managed to arrange everything for us here. The safari experience is a must to enjoy at Kaziranga National Par and even though we definitely wanted to take the opportunity to go for elephant safari ride at the western range of Kaziranga National Park but owing to the flood this safari was not yet opened and we would have the opportunity to enjoy our visit in November to enjoy this safari option. Thanks a lot Krishna Ji for all your guidance and support in making our arrangements here at Kaziranga National Park.

Current local time in Moscow, Russia

Daylight saving time (dst) changes in moscow, sunrise and sunset time for moscow, moscow, russia, time and time zones.

The length of a solar day is determined by the time that it takes for the Earth to complete a full rotation around its axis and equals 24 hours. The Earth’s rotation on its axis leads to change between day and night. Another consequence of this rotation is the fact that while moving by 15° from West to East local solar time increases by an hour.

In everyday life people use official local time which almost always differs from solar time. All of the Earth’s surface is divided into time zones. All places within the same time zone observe the same time. Time zone boundaries usually follow country or administrative borders. Time difference between adjacent time zones normally equals one hour, though sometimes time in neighbouring time zones may differ by two or more hours. There are also cases when adjacent time zone difference equals 30 or 45 minutes.

For most countries the entire country’s territory lies within the same time zone. Countries whose territory stretches from West to East by a significant distance, such as Russia , USA , Canada , Brazil and some others, are usually divided into a few time zones. One notable exception is China where Beijing time serves as the official time all over the country.

Coordinated Universal Time or UTC is the reference point to determine time zone offsets. UTC corresponds to mean solar time on the Prime or Greenwich Meridian (0° longitude). Time zone offsets from UTC range from UTC-12:00 to UTC+14:00.

Almost all countries in Europe and North America as well as many other countries observe Daylight Saving Time (DST) and put their clocks an hour forward in the spring and an hour back in the autumn. In these countries time zone offsets from UTC change twice a year. Most countries do not observe DST though.

As stated in ancient chronicles, in 1147, Prince Yury Dolgoruky invited his relative, Prince Svyatoslav Olgovich, to see him in Moscow, which was a small castle lost in the boundless Russian forest. Thus, the history of Russia's most important political, economic, cultural, and scientific center began. In the 12th century, Moscow turned into a fortress. By the 13th century, it was already a town, and in the 15th century, Moscow became the capital of the Russian State. Today Moscow, with its history, architectural masterpieces, and innumerable art treasures, has found itself in a whirlpool of global currents determining world development. People worldwide come to witness Moscow's splendors and fall for the charm the capital of the largest empire on earth certainly possesses.

Walking on Red Square in Moscow: one of the unmissable things to do in Moscow

Iconic place and one of the must-see places in Moscow and even in Russia! Besides, if there was only one place to visit in Moscow in 2 days, this place would then be Red Square, without hesitation. Therefore, starting the city tour with Red Square is ideal . Several buildings are on the square, but not all of them have to be visited. Check out my blog post about Moscow’s Red Square in detail to learn more and not miss anything.

Red Square Moscow

Visiting Saint-Basil’s Cathedral inside

Even more emblematic than Moscow’s Red Square! Built in the middle of the 16th century under the orders of Tsar Ivan Le Terrible, this cathedral is one of the most beautiful monuments of Orthodox art, and definitely one of the unmissable places in Moscow. Visiting Saint-Basil’s Cathedral inside is one of the most beautiful things to do in Moscow!

Saint Basil's Cathedral

Take a walk in Zariadye park: one of the coolest things to do in Moscow after visiting Red Square

Zaryadie Park is just a 10-minute walk from St. Basil’s Cathedral, so it’s easy to include in your itinerary if you’re going to visit Moscow in 2 days. From its heights, you can see the red walls of the Kremlin. But, the most impressive point of view is the platform which overlooks the Moskva river. A must see! And clearly one of the coolest things to do in Moscow!

  • Open 24 hours a day
  • Good to know! Park Zaryadye is also a place to visit in Moscow in winter. Find out more here: What to do in Moscow in winter?

See the Bolshoi Theatre and discover the Kuznetsky Most district

The Bolshoi Theatre is the most famous Russian theater in the world. The most economical way to see a presentation at the Bolshoi Theater is to take the tickets on the theater’s official website in advance, so here is our tutorial to help you: How to buy entrance tickets to the Bolshoi? In addition, several pedestrian or one-way streets

In addition, several pedestrian or one-way streets are located north of the theater. It is therefore very pleasant to find them to leave the main axes of the megalopolis.

Visit the Moscow Kremlin

Visit Kremlin is on top of things to do in Moscow. A place of power for centuries, the Kremlin then shows us a whole different image when viewed from the inside. If you want to visit Moscow in 2 days, the Kremlin is certainly one of the must-see places in Moscow.

  • Opening hours : Daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thursday.
  • See our blog post about visiting the Moscow Kremlin

Moscow Kremlin: skip-the-line tickets and 8 things not to miss

Visit the Cathedral of Christ the Savior

This impressive Moscow Cathedral is the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is a must see if you visit Moscow in 2 days and clearly one of the things to do in Moscow. The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was first built in 1883 in memory of Russia’s victory over Napoleon’s Grand Army. Then in 1931 Stalin ordered its destruction. It was then rebuilt again (identically) only in 2000.

  • Where? Ulitsa Volkhonka 15. At the foot of the Kropotkinskaya metro station.
  • Opening hours . Daily: 10: 00-17: 00, except Monday: 13: 00-17: 00
  • Free entry (some closing restrictions, for example a short)

Good to know! In orthodox religious places, one must avoid excessively uncovered clothing. Women should cover their heads. After visiting the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, you can explore Bolotny Island and Gorky Park. This is one of the routes our guide to Moscow.

Cathedral of Christ the Savior

The old Krasny Oktyabr factory: one of the coolest things to do in Moscow

If you cross the Moskva River by a pedestrian bridge which is located just in front of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the city and at the same time you can discover Balchug Island. Furthermore, if you want to visit Moscow in 2 days, you can include this island in your itinerary between the cathedral and Gorky park. Here is the old confectionery factory Krasny Oktyabr, which has gradually turned into a fashionable micro-district. There are then some elements of street art, cafes and restaurants and some Moscow bohemian side. At the end of the island you can see a gigantic 98-meter-high monument dedicated to the Russian reforming tsar Pierre The Great.

Good to know! You can find on this island are the trendiest nightclubs in Moscow. On weekends, there are taxi caps after midnight so there are so many people. On the other hand, if you go there in winter and during the day, the island is quite empty and less interesting to see.

Gorky Park is one of the TOP places to visit in Moscow, because it allows you to better understand the life of the locals and their rhythm. In fact, it’s a huge entertainment park. For example, in winter there is a giant ice rink and in summer – free dance or yoga lessons, sandy beaches for playing volleyball, an outdoor cinema. So, like the locals, have a Stakantchik (ice cream or cooked corn), and enjoy the atmosphere of the place: that’s one of the interesting things to do in Moscow to discover the city.

  • Where? Krymsky Val 9. 20 minutes’ walk from Krasny Oktyabr, along the quays.

Sparrow Hill and Moscow State University

The Sparrow Hill, Vorobiovy Gori in Russian, is the highest point in Moscow. It is rather known to Russians, but less to travelers. A nice view on Moscow opens from the hill, and in particular on the Luzhniki Stadium. In addition, on the hill itself is the Moscow State University: an impressive skyscraper from the Soviet era.

  • How to get there? By bus T7 (35 min) from Oktyaborskaya station, near Gorki Park. By metro (Vorobiovy Gorki station) + climb the hill on foot. On foot along the Moskva along the Gorky Park (1h30) + climb in funiculars.

Good to know! It is possible to cross the Moskva river by funicular. We actually tested it and it was pretty cool! That is one of our favorite things to do in Moscow!

What to do in Moscow

What to do in Moscow in 3 days?

If you are going to visit Moscow in 3 days, it would be interesting to dive into the Soviet era which strongly marked the country and the city. After the Bolshevik Revolution, the capital was transferred from Saint Petersburg to Moscow, in order to mark the change of power. Moscow then became the world showcase for communist ideology. Here are the best things to do in Moscow for 3-day-trip!

VDNKh, visit Moscow of the Soviet era

VDNKh is a large exhibition center in the north of Moscow, where there are still several striking witnesses of the USSR. The most interesting are the Museum of Cosmonauts and the Statue of the Worker and the Kolkhozian , which will certainly impress you with its size!

Visit

GULAG History Museum

The explanations of the museum are very well done. We really have the feeling of going back in time. If you are going to visit Moscow in 3 days and you are interested in history and this subject in particular, I recommend this museum. Visit the GULAG History Museum is one of the most interesting things to do in Moscow.

jeep safari timings in kaziranga

Discover the Patriarche Pounds district

It’s a nice neighborhood in Moscow where you can come across rather affluent locals, but not necessarily very bling-bling. Take a walk in this area is really a cool thing to do in Moscow! In addition, the Ponds of Patriarch is one of the places of Bulgakov’s novel “Master and Margarita”. As this is an interesting area to see, we have included it in a walking tour of Moscow. The route ends at the Moscow Kremlin, which is very convenient, because you will be able to visit Moscow in 3 days by optimizing your trips.

jeep safari timings in kaziranga

What to visit in Moscow in 4 days: TOP things to do in Moscow in 4 days

If you want to visit Moscow in 3 days, you will already see a lot of things. On the other hand, if you stay one more day, you have plenty to do! The Novodevichy Convent, the Tchistie Proudy district and the Izmaylovo Kremlin are very good candidates for you, if you are going to visit Moscow in 4 days.

Visiting Novodevichy Convent in Moscow

The Novodevichy Convent is one of the most brilliant examples of Russian architecture, according to UNESCO. This beautiful complex was built in 1524 and today consists of the convent, but also of a cemetery whose status could be compared to that of Père-Lachaise in Paris. Visiting Novodevichy Convent is one of the great things to do in Moscow, if you want to go a little bit outside of the center!

What to see in Moscow in one day

Discovering Tchistye Proudy district

It’s one of the most popular areas of Moscow, with many cafes, restaurants and bars nearby. It is therefore a place to discover if you want to visit Moscow in 4 days. It is just as pleasant for a stroll as for the discovery of local life. For example, in winter the pond turns into an ice rink.

Visiting the Izmaylovo Kremlin, one of the coolest things to do in Moscow!

The Izmaylovo Kremlin is more of a tourist than a historic place. On the other hand, it is a pretty impressive place to discover, especially on weekends. Inside the Kremlin, there is a flea market where you can find a little bit of everything, but mostly good souvenirs to bring from Moscow. For example, chapka, traditional Russian scarves or matryoshka (Russian dolls). Add the Kremlin and the Izmaïlovo market to your itinerary if you are going to visit Moscow in 4 days, because it is a nice and very colorful place! Visiting the Izmailovo Kremlin is one of the things to do in Moscow, if you want to put colors in your Instagram account! 😉

Things to do Moscow blog

In 4 days, we will have the opportunity to see several Moscow: Classic Moscow, Moscow of old Russia, Soviet Moscow and a little bit of the new Moscow. So what to visit in Moscow on the 5th day of travel?

What to visit in Moscow in 5 days?

Art lovers will be delighted to discover the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, while others will prefer to stroll along Arbat Street, see the buildings of Moskva-City or visit Bunker 42.

Admiring Russian art at Tretyakov Gallery

Founded in 1856 by an industrialist and great lover of art, the gallery has grown over the decades, and then bequeathed to the state. Today the collection includes more than 140,000 pieces, 15,000 of which are paintings. Visiting the Tretyakov Gallery is one of the things to do in Moscow if you want to discover Russian art!

  • Where? Pereoulok Lavrouchinski 10. A 5-minute walk from Tretiakovskaya station
  • Opening hours. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Closed on Mondays.
  • Entry tickets. 500 RUB.

Museum to see

Visiting the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts

The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts presents the treasures of ancient Egypt, the paintings of Rembrandt and Cézanne, a fine collection of Impressionism.

  • Where? Ulitsa Volkhonka 12
  • Opening hours. Daily: 10: 00-20: 00, except Thursday: 11: 00-21: 00. Closed on Mondays. The boxes close an hour before closing.
  • Entry tickets. The prices vary according to the collections from 300 to 750 RUB.

Walking on Arbat Street

All Russians know Rue Arbat. So, walking on Arbat street is one of the things to do in Moscow. However, after the years, little by little it became very touristy. This is a pedestrian street only. There are souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes there, but it is no longer the most authentic neighborhood in the city.

Seeing the buildings of Moskva-City (Moscow City)

Moskva-City is Moscow’s business center, much like Paris’s Defense district. The skyscrapers of Moskva-City are among the tallest in Europe: 373 meters high! Very nice place to see at dusk.

Good to know! You can admire a nice view of Moscow City from the docks of Tarasa Shevchenko. It’s especially beautiful in the evening with all the lights on.

Bunker 42, one of the most unusual things to do in Moscow

Bunker 42 is a secret military complex which was to be used by the Soviets in the event of a nuclear attack: a space of 7000 m² 65 meters underground!

  • Where? 5 Kotelnitcheski Lane, 11.
  • Prices. 2200 RUB per person
  • Opening hours. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Restaurant inside. Original, but rather a tourist trap.

What to visit in Moscow in 6 days or more?

There are still so many places to see, because Moscow is a big megalopolis and there is always something exciting to do there. For example: the ancient Kolomenskoye village or the WINZAVOD contemporary art center .

If you are interested in history and want to see Russian cities on a rather “human scale”, it would certainly be interesting for you to discover the cities of the Golden Ring . For example, it is very easy to get to Sergey Posad from Moscow (less than 2 hours in train). Visiting the Golden Ring is one of the best things to do in Moscow if you are staying more than a 5-6 days.

There are still plenty of places to see in Moscow, however I did my best to list here the best things to do in Moscow, what to see in Moscow in one day, but also in 2, 3, 4 or 5 days in Moscow!
