Life Journey Quotes: Final Thoughts

Life for me, like travel, is all about the journey. The shape of that journey is up to the individual.

I hope that these life journey quotes help inspire you to live your best life. That’s all that any of us can aim for.

Enjoy the journey.

Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind. Anthony Bourdain

Journey Begins Quotes

Standart top banner.

journey begins love

Every journey begins with a single step.

Your journey begins with a choice to get up, step out, and live fully

The longest journey begins with a single step, not with a turn of the ignition key.

The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.

Realizing your goal, resolution, or transformation is a journey. Change, like any meaningful endeavor, proceeds sequentially through steps. The journey begins with the contemplation stage of specifying realistic goals, getting ready, or getting psyched. The planning stage is all about prepping. How exactly will I do this thing? At some point you will jump from preparing and planning to perspiring, the work of implementing the new, desired behavior. Getting there is wonderful, but we need to keep you there, which entails persevering through slips and, finally, persisting over time.

I'm the type of person that likes to dream big, and I've often found that every great journey begins with a dream.

According to the ancient Chinese proverb, A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a cash advance.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Watch your step.

Sometimes journeys begin long before their first step is taken

The Day We Let Our Convictions Define Our Life Rather Than Our Insecurities, Our True Journey Begins.

The longest journey begins with a single step.

The journey begins, though, with understanding what it means to be a christian. To say you believe in Jesus apart from conversion in your life completely misses the essence of what it means to follow him. Do not be deceived.

The longest journey begins with a single step, not with the turn of an ignition key. That’s the best thing about walking, the journey itself. It doesn’t much matter whether you get where you’re going or not. You’ll get there anyway. Every good hike brings you eventually back home. Right where you started.

Since the moment of self-consciousness comes to a permanent end - and a new journey begins- is such a decisive stroke or milestone in the contemplative life, I can only speculate why so little has been said of this breakthrough; in fact , I may never get over the silence on the part of writers who say nothing about this second movement.

Compliance status

We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.

To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.

This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.

Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.

If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email [email protected] .

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:

Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.

These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.

Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.

Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
  • Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

  • Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
  • Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different coloring options.
  • Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
  • Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
  • Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
  • Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
  • Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Browser and assistive technology compatibility

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers), both for Windows and for MAC users.

Notes, comments, and feedback

Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs, there may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible. Still, we are continually improving our accessibility, adding, updating and improving its options and features, and developing and adopting new technologies. All this is meant to reach the optimal level of accessibility, following technological advancements. For any assistance, please reach out to [email protected] .

Stages of Love: Unraveling the Journey from Attraction to Commitment

Stages of Love

We’ve all felt it, that dizzying sensation of falling head over heels for someone. But what exactly is happening in our brains when we tumble into the abyss of love? As an expert in human emotions and relationships, I’d like to delve into the stages of love , exploring each phase from a psychological perspective.

In its infancy, love is a whirlwind of attraction and infatuation. You’re consumed by thoughts of your beloved, with every detail about them seeming absolutely perfect. This honeymoon phase can be intoxicating but it’s also temporary – a fact many people find hard to accept.

Beyond this initial enchantment lies the second stage: deep attachment. Here, comfort and companionship overrule passion as you settle into the rhythm of life together. But don’t be fooled! This isn’t a downgrade from those earlier fireworks; it’s a deeper bond formed through shared experiences and understanding. It may not be as flashy as infatuation but it’s arguably more rewarding.

So why does this transition happen? And how can we navigate these stages effectively? Let’s dive in further, examining the science behind these shifts in emotion and offering some tips on sustaining long-term love.

Understanding the Stages of Love

Ever wonder why love feels like a roller coaster ride? It’s because it doesn’t stand still. It evolves, changes and grows through various stages. Let’s unravel this mystery together.

The first stage is the “Infatuation Stage”. We’ve all been there, haven’t we? When our heart skips a beat every time that special someone comes into view. Butterflies in the stomach become a daily phenomenon. Infatuation can feel exhilarating, but it’s often short-lived.

Next up is the “Honeymoon Phase”. This is when you can’t seem to get enough of each other. You’re both head over heels in love, spending every possible moment together. Studies show that this phase usually lasts from one to two years.

  • Stage 1 : Infatuation
  • Stage 2 : Honeymoon Phase

Once the honeymoon phase fades away, reality sets in and we enter the “Disillusionment Stage”. This is when couples start noticing each other’s flaws and arguments may become more frequent.

After weathering through disillusionment (if you make it), you’ll find yourself in the “Deep Attachment Stage”. By now, you’ve seen your partner at their best and worst yet choose to stick with them anyway. This stage signifies deep emotional attachment and stability.

Finally, we have what experts call “Mature Love” or lifelong partnership where companionship trumps passion. The bond forged over shared experiences becomes unbreakable here.

Here are these stages again:

  • Stage 3 : Disillusionment
  • Stage 4 : Deep Attachment
  • Stage 5 : Mature Love

Understanding these stages can help navigate relationships better while also managing expectations realistically.

The First Stage: Attraction and Romance

I’m sure we’ve all felt it, that initial spark when you meet someone who piques your interest. It’s the first stage of love, often characterized by physical attraction and a sense of excitement. This is the time when our hearts race, our palms sweat, and we can’t stop thinking about that special someone .

What causes this overwhelming feeling of attraction? Science suggests it’s a cocktail of chemicals racing through our brains. There’s dopamine, responsible for feelings of happiness and desire; adrenaline which fuels those nervous butterflies; and serotonin that keeps us dreaming about our new love interest.

Let me paint a picture with some examples. Remember that high school crush? The one who made your heart flutter every time they passed by your locker? Or maybe it was a friend who slowly transformed into something more in your eyes. This phase is marked by idealization – seeing only the best in the other person – and intense emotions.

But remember folks, while these feelings might be intoxicating at first, they’re not designed to last forever. Psychologist Dorothy Tennov coined the term ‘limerence’ to describe this state. Limerence lasts on average between 18 months to 3 years before transitioning into deeper stages of love.

So let’s break it down:

  • Physical attraction kicks things off.
  • Brain chemicals like dopamine create happy, obsessive thoughts.
  • These intense feelings don’t last forever but transition into deeper stages over time.

Although this stage can feel like a whirlwind, it sets up an important foundation for relationship building as we move forward through subsequent stages of love!

The Second Stage: Building a Deeper Connection

If you’ve ever been in love, you’ll know it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. It’s during the second stage of love that we really start to build those deeper connections. Let me tell you, it’s more than just sharing your favorite pizza toppings or TV shows.

During this phase, trust begins to solidify as the foundation of the relationship. You’re starting to reveal your authentic selves, not just the polished versions you presented during the initial attraction stage. Sharing vulnerable moments and stories is typical during this period. For example, you might discuss past relationships or personal insecurities – yes, we’ve all got them!

Now don’t get me wrong; this stage isn’t always easy. It can be uncomfortable getting so emotionally raw with another person. But studies have shown that vulnerability is key in building deep relationships! According to a study by Dr.Brene Brown at the University of Houston:

It’s also important to note that communication plays a vital role here too – and I’m not just talking about chatting over dinner! Real communication means expressing needs, desires, fears…the whole shebang.

Here are some pointers for effective communication in this stage:

  • Be clear about what you need from your partner.
  • Show empathy when they share their feelings.
  • Respect boundaries set by each other.

At its core though, building a deeper connection boils down to one thing: understanding one another on an intimate level – physically and emotionally. That’s where real love starts taking root!

So there you have it – that’s the second stage of love for ya! While it may feel like an emotional rollercoaster ride at times (and believe me, it often does), remember that it’s paving way for a stronger bond between you and your partner. But hold on tight, we’re just getting started!

The Third Stage: Disillusionment or Understanding?

I’ve arrived at the third stage of love, and let’s be honest – it’s a bit of a crossroad. We all start off in relationships with hearts full of hope, but then reality sets in. This stage can either lead to disillusionment or understanding. It all depends on how we navigate the twists and turns.

Think back to your first love, when everything seemed perfect. Then suddenly you started noticing flaws in your partner that you’d never seen before. You may have even started questioning if you were right for each other at all. That’s disillusionment setting in, folks! But hold on – don’t hit the panic button just yet.

You see, this stage isn’t necessarily a death sentence for your relationship. In fact, it could be an opportunity for growth – a chance to build deeper understanding and acceptance. For example, instead of focusing on annoying habits like leaving dishes unwashed or forgetting birthdays (yes, we’ve all been there), try focusing on what initially drew you to them: their sense of humor? Their kindness? Their resilience?

Here are some stats to chew on:

Now I’m not saying it’ll be easy; but developing understanding is key for long-term happiness in relationships.

So where does one begin? With communication – that’s where! Talk about your feelings without blaming each other (easier said than done!). Be patient with yourself and your partner during this challenging time.

And remember: every couple goes through this third stage at some point. It’s NORMAL. So take heart – if others have navigated these choppy waters successfully, so can you!

  • Understand that disillusionment is part of the journey
  • Focus on your partner’s positive traits
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate

So here’s to understanding and working through disillusionment – because that’s what love is all about.

A Closer Look at the Fourth Stage: Creating Lasting Bonds

Peeling back the layers of love, we find ourselves nestled in the fourth stage – creating lasting bonds. It’s a step that may seem daunting but is truly rewarding. This phase is all about building on the emotional intimacy you’ve established and solidifying it into a durable, long-term connection.

Let’s get down to brass tacks here. In this stage, you’re no longer just dating or ‘seeing each other’. You’re committed to making this relationship work. The bond that forms during this period isn’t merely based on attraction or romance; it’s anchored in mutual respect, trust, and admiration.

These aren’t just hollow words. Studies back them up too! For instance, a study by Drs John and Julie Gottman found that couples who show mutual respect and admiration are more likely to have long-lasting relationships.

Here are some key aspects of bonding:

  • Shared Experiences : Activities like traveling together or overcoming challenges as a team strengthen your bond.
  • Mutual Goals : Sharing life goals aligns your path forward as a couple.
  • Open Communication : Talking about feelings promotes understanding and closeness.

By now you might be wondering how exactly one goes about creating these lasting bonds? Well fear not! I’ll walk you through some practical steps:

  • Practice active listening: Show genuine interest in what your partner says.
  • Express appreciation regularly: Small acts of kindness go a long way.
  • Keep promises: Trust is built when actions match words.

This stage of love is indeed an art – an art of nurturing, patience, understanding, compromise, and above all else… Love itself! So why don’t we roll up our sleeves and dive deeper into this beautiful journey?

The Fifth and Ultimate Stage of Love: Unconditional Acceptance

Reaching the fifth stage of love, unconditional acceptance, feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s the point where you’ve seen all sides of your partner – the good, bad, and everything in between – and still choose them every single day. You’ve moved past petty disagreements and superficial flaws to understand that no one is perfect.

This stage isn’t about grand gestures or intense passion – it’s about comfort, stability, and an unshakeable bond. Couples in this phase find joy in everyday moments shared together – a quiet dinner at home after a long day or a lazy Sunday morning spent reading newspapers while sipping coffee.

A study published by the Journal of Social Personal Relationships highlights some fascinating statistics regarding couples who reach this stage:

Now don’t mistake unconditional acceptance for complacency. In fact:

  • It means recognizing that your partner isn’t perfect but choosing to love them regardless.
  • It’s about understanding that people grow and change over time.
  • And most importantly, it involves being a consistent source of support for each other without any conditions attached.

Unconditional acceptance doesn’t mean you accept harmful behaviors or disregard your own needs. Instead, it’s all about balance – acknowledging differences but not letting them overshadow the love you share.

Remember that reaching this stage is no small feat but those who do often enjoy relationships characterized by deep respect, mutual understanding, lasting affection…and yes – plenty of laughter too!

Common Challenges During Love’s Various Stages

Navigating the realm of love isn’t always a smooth cruise. Let’s delve into some of the common challenges that crop up during love’s various stages.

The initial stage, often referred to as the ‘honeymoon phase’, is no stranger to pitfalls. It’s characterized by intense attraction and infatuation, which can cloud judgement. We become so engrossed in our partner that we might overlook red flags or potential issues down the road. We’re also likely to idealize our partners during this phase, which can lead to disappointment when reality finally hits.

Moving on to the power struggle stage, couples often wrestle with differences and conflicts. This is where individuality and independence come into play – we start realizing that our partner isn’t perfect and may not align with every aspect of our life. The key challenge here lies in maintaining respect for each other while navigating these differences.

Next up is stability – a stage where many relationships face comfort zone issues. As mundane routines set in, passion may take a back seat leading to feelings of boredom or dissatisfaction. How you keep the spark alive becomes crucial at this point.

Then comes commitment – deciding whether you’re ready for long-term investment can be daunting. Fear of losing personal freedom or making wrong decisions are common challenges faced in this stage.

Lastly, co-creation involves building something together like starting a family or business venture. Balancing personal goals with joint dreams can be tricky here.

Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Honeymoon Phase: Overlooking flaws due to infatuation
  • Power Struggle Stage: Dealing with differences and conflicts
  • Stability: Waning passion due to routine
  • Commitment: Deciding on long-term investment
  • Co-Creation: Balancing personal goals with joint ventures

So remember folks, love isn’t just about hearts and flowers; it comes bundled with its fair share of trials and tribulations. But hey, that’s what makes the journey worthwhile, doesn’t it?

Conclusion: Navigating the Journey of Love Successfully

We’ve traversed quite a journey, haven’t we? From the exhilarating first stages of infatuation to the profound depths of enduring love, each phase plays its unique role in our love journey. And just like any other expedition, navigating this path requires understanding, patience, and above all, commitment.

Remember that falling in love is easy; it’s staying in love where the real challenge lies. It’s not always about grand gestures or romantic escapades. Sometimes it’s about those quiet moments you share with your partner on a lazy Sunday afternoon or how you communicate during a disagreement.

Don’t be afraid of conflict either. I can’t stress this enough – conflicts are not necessarily bad for your relationship. On the contrary, they’re opportunities to learn more about each other and grow together as a couple.

  • Understand your partner’s perspective
  • Learn to compromise
  • Communicate effectively

The keyword here is resilience. You need to withstand storms and navigate rough seas if you want to keep sailing together.

And let’s not forget the importance of maintaining your individuality while being part of a pair. It’s vital for both partners to have their own hobbies, friends and interests apart from each other because at the end of the day we’re all individuals sharing our lives with another individual.

Lastly but certainly most important – never stop expressing love for one another. Say ‘I love you’ often and mean it every time you say it.

So there we have it! These are my thoughts on successfully navigating through different stages of love:

  • Patience and understanding
  • Effective communication
  • Maintaining individuality
  • Never stop expressing love

Love isn’t always going to be perfect but remember – “A great relationship doesn’t happen because of the love you had in the beginning but how well you continue building love until the end.” Go out there and build your love story with courage and conviction.

That is until a handsome widower named Clark Davis (Dale Midkiff) suggests a platonic “marriage of convenience” until Marty can return home. As the months pass, though, Marty and Clark discover an unexpected new love where there was once only loss.

#7 –  Love’s Christmas Journey (2012)

Love's Christmas Journey

It was really hard to decide where to put this movie since it has characters that are barely mentioned or not mentioned at all in any of the other movies. I decided to put it here because it makes the most sense character-wise since all the movies that follow this have Belinda in them. You may wish to watch it last or watch it separately, at Christmas time.

Main Characters –

Ellie Davis King (Clark and Marty’s daughter, not mentioned in the films but in the book Love’s Enduring Promise) & Aaron Davis (Clark and Marty’s daughter, seen in the movie Love’s Enduring Promise), both half-siblings of Missy (daughter of Clark & Ellen, who dies in Love’s Everlasting Courage)

Summary – Inspired by the best-selling “Love Comes Softly” book franchise written by Janette Oke, the first-ever uplifting, almost 3 hours, Christmas story in the series.

While still mourning the loss of her husband and daughter (neither her husband nor daughter are in any other movies), recently widowed Ellie Davis King visits her brother Aaron Davis and his children for Christmas.

Ellie agrees to watch Aaron’s children when he has to leave town. When a fire is set, Ellie works with a handsome deputy to clear a friends name and learns that if she can trust her faith, this Christmas may bring more miracles than she hoped.

#8 –  Love’s Unending Legacy (2007)

Loves Unending Legacy

Is it any Good?  Bear-ometer score: 75% like it

Mommy bear’s family movie review –this is not my favorite of the series but i still liked it a lot. it has a cute and precious storyline and makes it intriguing to watch. this movie is sweet and shows another great side to love.

Main Characters – Missie Davis LaHaye & Son Mattie LaHaye – Belinda Marshall, Jacob Marshall – Zach Tyler

Summary – Missie LaHaye bids a reluctant goodbye at the grave of her late husband Willie, who died two years previously in the line of duty as the sheriff of Tettsford Junction. Even after giving up her job as the town schoolteacher, Missie has found running the ranch on her own overwhelming, so she has resigned herself to letting her son Jeff and his new bride take control of it jointly with her brothers Aaron and Arnie.

Missie and her ten-year-old son Mattie travel back to her hometown to live near the farm of her parents, Clark and Marty Davis.. Certain she will never find love again.

Missie redirects her feelings and when the “orphan train” arrives in town, she adopts Belinda, a feisty young teenager who’s arrived with a secret. As Missie struggles with raising Belinda, she finds she is falling for the local sheriff who might be the only man who can help her save Belinda….and herself.

#9 –  Love’s Unfolding Dream (2007)

Love's Unfolding Dream

Is it any Good?  Bear-ometer score: 80% like it

Mommy bear’s family movie review – this is a cute film from the love comes softly series. there is a lot of determination and dedication shown by the main characters and not to mention some fun romance to go along with it. it is fun to watch the story unfold as you wonder what will happen next..

Main Characters – Belinda Marshall LaHaye Tyler – Drew Simpson

Summary – Missie’s (Erin Cottrell) adopted daughter Belinda (Scout Taylor-Compton) is determined to become a doctor, but despite her dedication and ability, Doc Jackson (Robert Pine) believes women should stay at home – and so does Belinda’s suitor, Drew Simpson (Patrick Levis)!

But with faith and hard work, Belinda begins winning the hearts and minds of everyone around her, including a wealthy dowager (Nancy Linehan Charles), who just might help make Belinda’s dreams come true in this satisfying family drama that also stars Samantha Smith and Dale Midkiff.

#10 –  Love Takes Wing (2009)

Love Takes Wing

Mommy Bear’s Family Movie Review –This movie is great for learning and seeing a good example of faith and hope when you endure and keep trying.

Main Characters – Belinda Marshall LaHaye Tyler Simpson

Summary – Still as feisty as ever, Belinda Simpson is now a doctor in a small Missouri town where an unknown plague is spreading fear and resentment among the townspeople. One local resident thinks the illness was spread from the town orphanage and wants to see it shut down.

Belinda struggles to make sense of the disease and God’s plan for the beleaguered town. But with the support of Lee Owens, the town’s handsome young blacksmith and her best friend, Belinda learns that if she can rely on faith and love then everything else may just fall into place!

#11 –  Love Finds a Home (2009)

Love Finds A Home

Is it any Good?  Bear-ometer score: 76% like it

Mommy bear’s family movie review –this one is a little bit more boring than the others in the series in my opinion but i still enjoyed it. the storyline is not as dynamic as the rest of it is..

Main Characters – Belinda Marshall LaHaye Tyler Simpson Owens

Summary – The eight compelling film based on Janette Oke’s acclaimed Love Comes Softly novel series stars Sarah Jones as Dr. Belinda Owens, a young woman with a loving husband (Jordan Bridges) and a rewarding career. But when Belinda’s pregnant friend Annie (Haylie Duff) comes to stay, Belinda must come to grips with her own inability to conceive.

And when Annie’s meddlesome mother-in-law (Oscar Winner Patty Duke) gives Belinda advice about her medical practice. Belinda looks to a higher power for strength, wisdom and even diplomacy in this riveting installment of the popular, uplifting films about the enduring power of love and faith.

You forgot the last movie Love's Christmas Journey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love%27s_Christmas_Journey

September 18, 2012 at 11:17 pm

Thanks for the heads-up. I did not include it since it is not on DVD yet, but looks like it's coming out on 10/30/12 so I'll order it and get it on our site when it comes out.

I don’t have the dvd’s, but I’ve watched them several times. It would be nice if the hallmark channel would play all of them and in order. Have any pull with them? Thanks

Unfortunately, no. I wish they would do the same thing!

July 21, 2018 at 10:56 pm

On this movie Haley Duff’s character was pregnant. She then qent to be with her husband before the birth of her baby. Lillian was adopted from the orphanage on this movie. She wasn’t grown up. Also it ended with Belinda getting married. She wasnt pregnant. There is another movie out there somewhere. I remember seeing it several years ago. Lillian was probably 16. Belinda was pregnant. They lived in a white house. I think Belinda and a boyfriend went in a cave and started caving in. She and the boyfriend were rescued by her adopted Dad. Does anyone remember what I’m talking about?

July 21, 2018 at 10:59 pm

I accidentally typed Belinda. It should be Lillian and her boyfriend went in a cave or something similar to one.

I agree, I would love to see them in order, to make more sense of the story he is trying to portray, I loves these shows but would like to see them in order and WITHOUT Commercials. Also I saw them on TBN and they are selling them which I thinks sucks.

I am not sure what you mean by “they are selling them.” Could you elaborate?

Love’s Christmas Journey comes sometime after Love’s Unending Legacy and around the time of Love’s Unfolding Dream since Aaron and Ellie are Clark and Marty’s children (married in Love Comes Softly) and Missy is older than Aaron by 10-12 years (Belinda in Unfolding Dream is Missy’s adopted daughter). Hope that helps.

' src=

January 10, 2016 at 9:46 pm

I thought marty and clarke had two son’s. Aaron who Marty was pregnant with when her husband Aaron died and another son who is “Loves enduring promise”? I did not remember that they had a girl (ellie). Can anyone clear up?

' src=

August 21, 2016 at 3:46 pm

Me either I’ve watched all except this one

July 21, 2018 at 9:23 pm

Clark snd Missy had 2 boys. The first one was by her husband that died then they had a boy together.

' src=

December 21, 2016 at 9:35 pm

I believe in the books series they had a daughter named Ellie =)

' src=

April 17, 2020 at 5:40 am

The movies are quite different from the books. I think the titles are in the same order as the books, but there are a lot of differences in the story line.

' src=

October 17, 2020 at 6:36 pm

Yes the difference are vastly different! In my opinion so different that they are barely related. Same time period and some similar names but other than that they don’t go together. I like the movies but can’t think of them as the books turned into movies. Even the movies seem a bit disjointed.

' src=

March 27, 2021 at 5:51 am

' src=

July 2, 2017 at 7:30 pm

Clark had a daughter by his first wife..his first wife died ND then he met soon to to be second wife who was married too..and her husband died. She was pregnant by her first husband had a boy..then she had another baby boy by Clark her second husband..

' src=

July 25, 2017 at 4:58 am

Ellie was in the book series but not the movie. It gets confusing. Hope this answers your question.

' src=

August 3, 2017 at 2:06 am

I was also wondering who Ellie was also, when Missy met Willy, Clarke and Marty had 2 sons?

' src=

August 19, 2017 at 3:56 am

in the book Marty has the son of her first husband, then a son and a daughter with Clark. In the movies they change Willie’s background to add more drama and they neglect to add Marty & Clarks adopted daughters.

' src=

September 28, 2018 at 8:52 pm

Please forgive me if I’m wrong. I got interested in the series when Hallmark showed several of them on s Saturday a few weeks ago. I haven’t seen all of them yet. I have ordered the DVD’s. In one of the movies I watched Marty and Clark had two sons and the daughter that they lost due to crib death. Then the local pastor talks her in to adopting an older daughter. Afterwards they find out that the girl has a brother given to another abusive family. Anyway they eventually get him away from the family. I’m sorry but I don’t remember all the names.

' src=

December 2, 2019 at 2:47 pm

They did not state that the last child after Aaron was a boy. The child never spoke in the movie and the child’s name was never mentioned. It could have been a girl. Remember Missy as a child, she dressed in boys clothes. Also the boy Marty had from her first husband did not die. She named him after her first husband. He is the child that caused Clark’s accident with the ax on his leg.

' src=

April 12, 2020 at 12:25 am

Marty had Aaron, from her late husband. Clark delivered and raised him. Clark had Missy, from his late wife Ellen. Clark and Marty has another boy; which they named Arnie. He does speak a few lines in the movie, Love’s Enduring Promise, then you never hear him mentioned again.

' src=

February 27, 2022 at 9:06 pm

Ellie was adopted

' src=

July 5, 2021 at 8:54 pm

I believe the second child’s name is Ernie, not Ellie. He is the direct child of Clark and Marty after their marriage. He appears in Love’s Enduring Promise. Patrick 😊

August 11, 2018 at 3:46 am

Please Note: Number 9 and Number 10 came out last in production but if you want to watch them in the order of the story line and what comes first in the order of time then you must start with no#9 listed here as it is number #1 in the story. Then watch #10 listed here next which is the 2nd DVD in the story. Then the rest of the order here is correct because their listing of no#1 Love comes softly is 3rd in the story line. Love comes Softly was the first book written and most of us read it and fell in love with the story. And each year or so the Author would come out with another book; usually of the next generation. After the last DVD in the series; Love finds a Home, The Public Loved the Story so much that Janette Oke finally went back and wrote about the past lives of the 2 main characters that started in her first book Love comes Softly. So those are Love Begins and then Love’s everlasting courage. That should be watched before Love comes Softly. As far as Loves Christmas Journey…i would watch that last. You can kept reading the many comments but i can assure you my comment is the real deal. I have all 11 DVDs and all the books and plan to past them down in my family after I’m dress and gone. I’m 65 yrs old and have been enjoying these since i was a young mother. GOD BLESS , ENJOY!

' src=

September 19, 2018 at 8:39 pm

Pamela, That is awesome! I watched “Love Comes Softly” on Hallmark Channel last night. (I recorded it and got too busy to watch it a couple of weeks ago when it was on.) I knew of the book and remembered it as I watched the movie because years ago my younger sister passed all her Janette Oake books on to me after she read them. Anyway, I decided last night to share these movies (the whole series) with my soon to be 11 year old granddaughter. (I also have to look and see if I still have the books in my book collection – probably do!)

I am a couple of years older than you and still enjoy a good, Godly love story. This is why I want to share it with my granddaughter! Thanks for sharing – it blessed my heart to know there were others in my age group watching these movies. I pray they have a wonderful impact on my granddaughter!

' src=

February 3, 2021 at 7:18 pm

Putting #9 and #10 at the beginning makes no sense! They are about Clark and Marty’s adopted granddaughter. To put them at the beginning before Clark and Marty even meet is illogical!

' src=

May 24, 2021 at 4:18 am

Thank you for clearing that up. It was confusing to have the #9 character have the same name as the #1 character and HIS daughter is also named Missy! NOW it all makes since!! My husband and I love these sweet Christian movies and will be sad to get to the end. I guess all we lack is the Christmas movie. Thank you again!

July 22, 2019 at 3:17 am

It’s listed. It’s number 7. I love the movies. I’ve watched them so many times.

' src=

November 6, 2021 at 11:06 pm

Its number 7 on the list above

' src=

January 4, 2023 at 9:52 am

It’s mentioned earlier. I think #8

September 18, 2012 at 12:29 am

Love's Christmas Journey takes place after Love Finds a Home.

' src=

December 19, 2016 at 10:01 pm

You are correct on that!

November 14, 2012 at 6:19 am

I haven't watched any of these yet because it seemed impossible to figure out the order, and I'm picky that way. Thank you so much for doing this!

November 24, 2012 at 11:37 pm

the order is definitely confusing! I'm not sure the order listed here is correct? Can anyone help? I have 10 DVDs in the series…. now I found Loves Beginning and Love's Christmas Journey…. so… Is Loves Beginning the 1st and not Love Comes Softly?

November 28, 2012 at 11:30 pm

Yes. The order is very confusing. The first three came out last but are actually the first ones in the series. Love's Christmas Journey is first (just came out on DVD about a month ago) then Love Begins and so on.

' src=

March 28, 2016 at 1:30 am

loves christmas journey is not first, as it is about Aaron which is Marty’s son from her first marriage, that she has in love comes softly, so it would most likely be last or around the same time as the last one which is love finds a home.

July 22, 2019 at 3:22 am

It should be after loves abiding joy. I wish Clark and Missy were in the latter movie

' src=

May 20, 2017 at 1:31 am

If you go by the way they came out, the order is: 1.Love comes softly. 2:Loves enduring promise 3:Loves Long journey 4: Loves Abiding Joy 5:Loves unending Legacy. 6:Loves Unfolding Dream 7: Love Takes Wing. 8:Love finds a home 9:Love Begins. 10:Loves Everlasting Courage 11:Loves Christmas Journey. I bought them as they came out in this order.

' src=

September 12, 2021 at 3:38 am

We have watched 2 of these movies and I really liked them, so glad you put them in order for my husband and I. Thanks

November 29, 2012 at 5:05 pm

SO: There are 11 total in the Love Comes Softly Series?

' src=

December 2, 2016 at 4:37 pm

I have just purchased the 10 DVD set of “Love Comes Softly”. Now I want to purchase the “Loves Christmas Journey”. I have fallen in Love with this series ans wish to find out if there is a listing of anymore in this same art of watching and the older ones that take part in this age or Year. I am 89 years of age and I find these type of film to be the finiest ever printed in to film. The younger Generation can learn much from the way of life in those days and what they had to do to get along and it was fun time too. Thank You for any and all information you can give to me. I am late at finding this site and much has gone on before my seeing this site. Please excuse my intelligence on this must wonderful Site. Please keep up your good work for all of us.

August 3, 2017 at 2:13 am

If you watch Love Begins, (1st movie) that is when they introduce Clarke Davis, he ends up marring Ellen, his first wife. Then comes Loves Everlasting Courage. Ellen and Clarke have a daughter Missy. Then the story goes to Love Comes Softly after Clarke lost his wife Ellen, Missy is about 8 when Marty comes into the picture.

February 3, 2021 at 7:26 pm

I totally agree!

March 12, 2013 at 10:46 pm

Thanks for the list. I haven’t seen half of these. Guess I have something to look for.

March 13, 2013 at 4:46 am

Thanks for the list. I haven't seen half of these. Guess I have something to look for.

March 24, 2013 at 12:25 pm

This order is wrong. Movies in a series are meant to be viewed chronologically which is how the writer/director intends it for the audience. It is impossible to look at movies in your order, because while we were viewing Love Comes Softly in 2003, Christmas Journey was not created until a decade later. Christmas Journey has to be viewed last… that is the point of creating what is known as a “prequel”.

March 24, 2013 at 6:03 pm

i love this series! and yes this MUST MUST be watched in order

March 28, 2013 at 6:00 pm

This list is meant for those people who buy the movies and want to watch them in the order that they happened in the character's lives, not production order. If you want to watch them in production order, we have the release date so you can easily figure that out. Thanks for stopping by!

' src=

August 10, 2014 at 3:49 am

Vishwanath Samsundar- Sorry to tell you but this order listed here is correct- They just weren’t produced that way. I’ve watched all of these on numerous occasions and own several.

August 3, 2017 at 2:15 am

Who is Ellie? In the Christmas Journey…I haven’t seen that one yet, but can’t seem to be able to figure out where she fits in?

' src=

March 31, 2019 at 5:37 am

She was Marty and Clark’s daughter in the books. I like the movies but I am tired of all the husbands dying. They didn’t in the books. Belinda was not adopted but Clark and Marty’s youngest daughter. The movies have changed the family members around and changed story lines. I whole heartedly encourage reading the book series it was my absolute favorite growing up and I made sure I got it on kindle so I know I can read it at any time.

March 26, 2013 at 4:19 am

I love these movies Love Comes Softly. Can someone email me the names and order the movies comes in so I can make sure I have them all. My email is [email protected] . Thanks Mary

Rebecca the list you posted is correct right? I remember watching several of them it went way back to before Missy was born so it was kinda confusing. I love these movies. Will there be any more in the future to add to the Love Saga?

May 2, 2013 at 8:00 am

I appreciated your listing all the Janette Oke movies in order! Thanks–these movies have really given me a much needed lift!

May 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm

May 14, 2013 at 12:08 pm

loves christmas journey is not the first one. its one of the last arron is marty’s son which she dosen’t have till she marries clark. but love begins and loves everlasting courage are a prequal to love comes softly and are before marty and clark meet.

November 4, 2013 at 9:38 pm

Love’s Christmas Journey takes place after Love Finds a Home.

November 5, 2013 at 4:38 am

Love's Christmas journey cant be first its about Aaron, Marty's son so how can it be first? Love Begins is first, Love's Christmas journey is or should be last. I am going to keep searching, I have all the movies and would also like to know the order.

January 7, 2014 at 7:55 pm

1.Love Comes Softly is first,2. Love's Enduring Promise, 3.Love's Long Journey,4. Love's Abiding Joy,5. Loves, Unending Legacy,6. Love's Unfolding Dream, 7.Love Takes Wing,8.Love Finds A Home, 9. Love Begins.10. Love's Everlasting Courage, 11. Love's Christmas Journey. I have all of them but the last two. I Love them and watch them often.

' src=

October 29, 2015 at 6:53 pm

I don’t understand how everyone can say that Love comes softly is first…how do you think the whole sequence started.. with Clark Davis and Ellen Barlow..which afterwards they got married and missy was born… now the story goes on after that..

January 7, 2014 at 8:28 pm

Love that series but only have first 3 hint hint my husband

January 8, 2014 at 12:24 am

I have 9 of them.

June 2, 2014 at 2:46 pm

You forgot the last movie Love’s Christmas Journey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love%27s_Christmas_Journey

June 2, 2014 at 8:46 pm

They have the order right except for the first one. Ellie and Aaron are Marty and Clark's kids, so that movie would have to be sometime after Love Comes Softly. These movies have the characters and the timeline all screwed up. The books make more sense. But I still love these movies.

' src=

June 15, 2014 at 2:11 am

My daughter and I are reading the books. We just read the movie synopsis that says that Willie dies. My daughter doesn’t even want to watch the movies anymore. Why would they stray that far from the original story line? Then she adopts the girl who is her sister in the books? I do not understand why they made such major changes in the story line. Disappointed 🙁

' src=

April 5, 2015 at 10:32 pm

Love comes softy is the first movie and love endearing promise is this second

October 28, 2015 at 2:27 am

This is how it begins… Love begins.Love’s Everlasting courage..Love comes softly..love’s Enduring Promise…love’s long journey…love’s Abiding joy…love’s Unending Legacy…love’s Unfolding dreams…love’s takes Wings…Love finds a home..love’s Christmas journey…

YESSS!! Deb M.. I have them all and all of the books. Watching them today.. I didn’t want to argue with anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings by sounding rude. But YOU ARE CORRECT!! (smiley face) Thank you for clearing this up for everyone..

August 11, 2018 at 2:58 am

I agree. I have researched this for years and this is the way i watch them. If you what them how they came out then you will just get confused!!

' src=

May 30, 2015 at 12:15 am

So i’m confused…where is the Christmas one supposed to go in the story?

' src=

November 2, 2015 at 1:25 am

These movies are wonderful I love God’s message in each one There is not enough movies like this anymore.

' src=

December 8, 2015 at 11:51 am

I just recently purchased Loves Comes Softly, and my mother (91) and I watched it about 5 times, plus. Then I saw 4 other movies from this series and purchased them and now we are watching them. The order is confusing, but when I found your list of the correct order that was so helpful, now I can tell my children what I need from my Christmas list.

' src=

August 20, 2017 at 1:11 am

I just finish Volume 1 & 2 of the Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke. I just read a comment from Yvonne Hale from Dec Dec 8th 2015, saying they found 4 more movies from this series. I would really like to find these DVDs. Is there any way I can find out the names and where to find the rest of this series??

Where does ellie come in when did clark and marty have her? Thought the only girl was missy….

' src=

January 10, 2016 at 8:10 pm

You commentators are largely correct on “Loves Christmas Journey”. The story occurs somewhere between “Love Takes Wing” and “Love Finds a Home” but is not directly related to these characters. Aaron Davis and Ellie King in this story are the half-brother and sister of Missie Davis and the natural children of Clark and Marty. The story, like “Love Begins” and “Love’s Everlasting Courage” is not written by Janet Oke. It should appear last in your published order for viewing. Maybe there is confusion over Ellie. She is not the Ellie who marries Clark Davis, but his daughter.

You can date the movies roughly from the 1850’s gold rush (Love Begins) and the dates on the crosses at the start of “Love’s Unending Legacy” (Sonny Huff – 1879, Kathy LaHaye – 1885 – Willie LaHaye – 1886)

I hope this helps

Uh, Aaron is the baby who was born at the end of Love Comes Softly. His father was Aaron, who died, making Marty a widow, who then married Clark. He was an adult in Love’s Christmas Journey in 2011 (8 years after he was born in the 2003 movie! ). Clark and Marty had another son, Arnie, in the second movie. I don’t know who Ellie is, from Love’s Christmas Journey. Maybe Clark and Marty had another daughter after Missy married Willie and they moved away? Is she mentioned in any of the movies when Clark and/or Marty visit or write to Missy? And I always wondered what happened to Ellen’s younger sister, Cassie, after Ellen married Clark in Love Begins. (I’ve seen them all lots of times on Hallmark and TBN!)

July 23, 2017 at 11:12 pm

I meant in the movie made second (2004), Love’s Enduring Promise, not the second chronologically. So confusing!

p.s. I’ve only seen the one where Willie dies two times, several years apart. I don’t like that one.

i like all of them ,, i hope she can make more 🙂

Thanks for the list! Exactly what I wanted.

It made me laugh that you find the last one boring – that’s my very favorite! I think it’s hilarious. I guess I like character development more than exciting plot.

Where did Cassie go? I don’t recall her being mentioned.

What happened to Ellen’s sister, Cassie. She is not mentioned in the next movie after Ellen and Clark at wed.

I assume Clark Davis had a son also named Clark Davis, but there is no explanation as to how they became separated.

everyone who left comments said something different about the order of the movies …so I am still very confused ….

' src=

August 5, 2017 at 12:39 am

I just watched in this order..

Love Comes Softly Loves Enduring Promise Loves Long Journey Loves Abiding Joy Loves Unending Legacy Loves Unfolding Dream (it says The sixth installment) in the description.

I’m gonna watch the other 4 now and see if I can figure out the order. I watch it every time it’s on but they haven’t had all 11 on yet. Unless I missed recording them.

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 3:47 pm

My friend recommended these books to me, so I bought part 1 of the collection (books 1-4) but haven’t read them yet. Just last night I found 3 of the movies in a used book store and snatched them up, but had no idea what order they go. Thanks for this page – it will really help me to know in what order to watch the movies as I track them down!

' src=

April 10, 2018 at 4:41 pm

Here is a couple possible ways that I think the order of the movies go. 1. Love Begins; 2. Love’s Everlasting Courage; 3. Love Comes Softly; 4. Love’s Enduring Promise; 5. Love’s Long Journey; 6. Love’s Abiding Joy; 7. Love’s Unending Legacy; 8. Love’s Christmas Journey; 9. Love’s Unfolding Dream; 10. Love Takes Wing; 11. Love Finds a Home; 1. Love Begins; 2. Love’s Everlasting Courage; 3. Love Comes Softly; 4. Love’s Enduring Promise; 5. Love’s Long Journey; 6. Love’s Abiding Joy; 7. Love’s Unending Legacy; 8. Love’s Unfolding Dream; 9. Love Takes Wing; 10. Love Finds a Home. Then Similar to /Inspired by movies Above is Love’s Christmas Journey. My sisters and I have been trying to figure the exact order of the movies and we have come to the conclusion that maybe Love’s Christmas Journey doesn’t fit into the order of the rest of the movies so it should be watched at a different time then the rest of them. If one of these orders is not correct then I am still very confused. So if someone could let me known what you think that would be great!

' src=

September 18, 2018 at 5:31 pm

Hi there… took me a little while to figure them out as well but I think viewers have a better knowledge of the order than the producers or TV networks. I agree with your second version and that Christmas Journey is not part of the series- Aaron would be a character but his sister was Missy, not Ellie. He was named after his mother’s first husband, & his biological father(Marty was married to Aaron when he died in Comes Softly). I am rewatching all the movies right now and started with Christmas Journey, just finished Long Journey, so the first few are fresh in my mind.

July 24, 2018 at 6:07 pm

Sorry, everyone! I just went through and changed the order of the movies and now I’m pretty sure I have them in the correct order. I got my information from the link at the bottom of the page from Hallmark Channel. They should know the order but I did find they don’t know as much as they should. They forget to include one of the movies. I researched IMDB and found where it fits in. Enjoy the movies!

September 17, 2018 at 7:22 pm

WOW! From the first time I pulled this page up until now, approximately 6 months time span, SOMEONE has changed the “order” of the list of these great movies! You can’t just do that – Love’s Everlasting, the one SOMEONE has changed to #-10 HAS be number ONE because it STARTS the series with Clark and his FIRST wife. My question is, WHERE does Christmas Journey fit in? It’s obviously not the first but not the last either as Aaron, one of the main characters is the baby from Love Comes Softly(named after his deceased father) after Clark remarries but Ellie was not Aaron’s sister, Missy was…. so was this a production error or just an extra movie??? And this also would have meant Missy had remarried a third time from her sheriff husband, had a third child(WHEN DID ALL THIS HAPPEN??!!) YES, I HAVE WATCHED THESE MOVIES A LOT AND AS I AM NOW AN ENGLISH MAJOR, AM VERY INTO PROOFING/EDITING….

September 17, 2018 at 7:42 pm

Oh my! And I have to admit I am wrong…Love Begins HAS to be the first because that’s when Clark and Ellen first meet- then Everlasting Journey, followed by Comes Softly…..then etc etc. I still think Christmas Journey IS NOT part of the series but from the same producers, writers and same storyline.

September 18, 2018 at 5:39 pm

Lots of opinions but I guess when you watch these movies so many times, one would become somewhat of an expert(of what I’m not sure), but seems like I notice something more or different every time I watch. So, it would start with Love Begins, Everlasting Coursge, Comes Softly, Enduring Promise, Long Journey, Abiding Joy, Unending Legacy, Unfolding Dream, Takes Wing, & Finds a Home(all Love, of course). The Christmas Journey is not part of the series but does have some of the same characters, follows a split storyline, etc.. I have to say, these movies have a calming influence on my mind when I’m stressed- glad they came out on DVD!

' src=

September 19, 2018 at 4:19 am

From what I’ve seen, April has the perfect list according to storyline. Even though Love Begins & Love’s Everlasting Courage were produced last (2011), they were written to begin the series. After the 1st two, the rest were produced from 2003 to 2009, except for Love’s Christmas Journey=2012. Clear as mud?? Anyway, very worthwhile TV watching. Yay, Hallmark! PS FYI: Some movies are shown on Hallmark Channel & some on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Do check the guide…

September 20, 2018 at 6:58 pm

And is it just me it seems to me like they like to play some of them a lot and then some of them hardly ever. I’m sure that’s partly because some really aren’t as good as the others . . .

' src=

November 1, 2019 at 1:09 am

So where do you watch the Christmas movie in the series? I am going to binge watch them with my kids but it’s been a while so now I lost track of the order and I just ordered the Xmas dvd that I was missing. I know it’s been a year but I appreciate it. 🙂

September 20, 2018 at 7:00 pm

OK. Check out the list now and see if you think I got it right. I was confused there for a bit. It makes it especially confusing when they use different characters for the same people and they just play them so randomly on Hallmark.

September 20, 2018 at 7:56 pm

AARON DAVIS AND ELLIE KING IN THIS STORY ARE THE HALF-BROTHER AND SISTER OF MISSIE DAVIS AND THE NATURAL CHILDREN OF CLARK AND MARTY. THE STORY, LIKE “LOVE BEGINS” AND “LOVE’S EVERLASTING COURAGE” IS NOT WRITTEN BY JANET OKE. DON’T BE CONFUSED BY ELLIE. SHE IS NOT THE ELLIE WHO MARRIES CLARK DAVIS, BUT HIS DAUGHTER. This is the plot summary for Love’s Christmas Journey… not sure where it came from because if Ellie were really one of Clark & Marty Davis’ natural children, I think she would have shown up in an earlier movie, such as Love’s Unending Legacy OR Love’s Unfolding Dream. Also, Aaron is Marty’s natural child but not Clark’s- Aaron’s father died at the beginning of Love Comes Softly, that’s who he’s named after “Aaron Luke, his father and mine” Marty tells Clark the day he’s born. Marty and Clark do have a son together but his name is Arnie. Ok, this has made me tired and I need a nap… The movies are all good and Hallmark is remiss in playing them all together when they show “marathons”.

' src=

November 4, 2018 at 11:55 pm

read the book series I don’t understand how anyone could get things so messed up. the baby who died was Kathy and she was not clark and marty’s baby but willie and missy’s. also missy is the one who adopted belinda who was the orphan from the train and her brother eventually. yes clark and martie did have two sons. in the love’s enduring promise aaron who is the son from aaron and marty then there is arnie who is the son of clark and marty. in that series they have three children.

' src=

February 27, 2019 at 9:29 pm

Thank you SOOO MUCH, this has been a huge help. I also agree with all of your comments on each mobie, the zingers and not-so zingers in the series but all wonderful movies about strong faith 🙂

March 10, 2019 at 12:03 am

Yep. It’s an awesome series!

Aaron the son of Marty and Aaron in Love comes Softly, I assumed got married as he has 2 children in loves Christmas Journey. What happened to his wife? and is their courtship and her death addressed in the book series?

' src=

April 23, 2020 at 8:46 pm

What happened to Ellen’s sister Cassie?

' src=

November 12, 2020 at 11:54 am

Sorry, but if you read the books you know that they are in the right order, to begin with, the way the movies were made. As a writer myself I know we sometimes go back after and do a backstory to fill you in like them remembering where certain things happened. It doesn’t make the order wrong with the way the books or movies were made. Think of it as someone coming into your life at one point then later you telling them about your parents’ or grandparents’ lives before you. It doesn’t mean that they should’ve told you about them before you learn about them.

January 31, 2021 at 5:04 am

What ever happened to Cassie (Ellen’s sister)?

The Relationship Journey: Beginnings, Middles, And Ends

Young Senior Couple Holding Hand Up Together And Smiling Love Concept

Just to state the obvious, relationships can be very rewarding but they are not easy. They are journeys that may bring challenges in the beginning, the middle, and the end. I want to share in this post a few of the difficulties and things to keep in mind, as couples navigate these stages.

To start a relationship we may need to overcome fears and doubts , old and new, that get in the way. Taking the risk of being open and vulnerable can sometimes be really difficult. Do we feel safe enough to let the other in? Do we allow ourselves to love and to be loved? Should we risk expressing our feelings despite the fear –or maybe the anticipation- of rejection and pain?

Many of the people that I have worked with in my practice have struggled with these questions. Some believe that their emotions are too big, they are too needy, or their baggage is too complicated, and wonder if they will be too much. Others, on the other hand, feel like there is something wrong with them and wonder if they will ever be enough. Some others carry a deep secret and a profound shame with them, and wonder: if they really knew me, would they run away?

These questions are not unusual, but can sometimes be paralyzing. The answers are never simple and cannot be known in advance. Becoming aware of our doubts, fears, hopes, and motives, accepting them as part of us, and understanding where they come from, are usually helpful first steps. While self-awareness is essential, sometimes we may think too much, so it is important to listen to our mind, our heart, and our body. Looking inside of ourselves with love and kindness is also crucial, in order to have a sense of what is important for us in a relationship, what we are looking for, and what our own personal boundaries are.

The more time we spend together with our partner , the more opportunities we have for connection and intimacy, but also for friction and disappointment. The more history is shared, the more opportunities to become closer and create meaning together, but also to harbor anger or to feel hurt. Whatever will happen to an established couple relationship is a function of three elements: the two individuals and the relationship itself.

The first two are each individual’s experiences, thoughts, and feelings. These will define what each person believes they need and want from a relationship, and how capable or willing they are to find a middle ground. For example, I once had a client who, a few months before his wedding, told me: “I want to do what my father did with my mom: I just want to tune out, find a way to ignore her.” The role-models we had in our life many times define, consciously or not, what we believe relationships are about.

The relationship itself is the third element, and it is bigger than the sum of its parts. For example, a dynamic I have observed often times can be called “pursuer-avoidant,” in which one person wants more from the other (more affection, more attention, more communication, more time, etc.), and the other is evasive or avoidant, whether because he feels uncomfortable, overwhelmed, or afraid. This dynamic sometimes leads to gridlock in the relationship, undermines the possibilities for negotiation, and can trigger resentment on both sides.

What to do when our baggage and our partner’s does not seem to match? There is no one single answer because a couple is a complex, ever-evolving entity. However, it is important to keep an open and curious mind about our partner’s experience, thoughts, feelings, needs, dreams, and goals. Truly acknowledging and respecting our differences is vital for understanding each other. Taking ownership and responsibility for our actions and the things we say (or do not say), as well as being open to receiving feedback, is important to maintain a strong friendship and a sense of safety and trust in the relationship.

Endings are almost never easy. Sometimes the difficulty resides in becoming willing or able to end a relationship that feels stale, is not meeting our needs, or has become toxic or abusive. Sometimes the challenge is to cope with the loss of a relationship, whether it was our own choice, our partner’s decision, or caused by life events out of our control.

The prospect of ending a relationship can be daunting, especially after a long time together. Are we making a rushed decision? Is there no way we can work this out? How much more can I stand? Have I been waiting for too long already? How can I deal with this uncertainty? These are some of the questions I have heard several times. As a therapist, it is not my job to answer them, but to be with my clients as they struggle with them, helping them untangle, make sense, and understand the meaning of the situation.

Most times this process is anything but rational and linear. A wide range of feelings will probably emerge, many times in conflict with our rational thoughts. Love, guilt, fear, pride, avoidance, grief, sadness, anger, and hope – we may feel them all at the same time, or we can go back and forth between them.

Paying attention to our patterns and personal history is equally important: do we tend to cut relationships as soon as we feel uncomfortable? Do we turn relationship into a personal project that admits no failure? Developing self-awareness to understand the nature of our fears is useful to reduce their effect on us. Kindness and patience with our difficulties, as well as respect for ourselves and our partners, are some of our best allies in this part of the journey.

Even though human beings are “wired” to be in relationships, these are not easy and sometimes require a lot of work. This “work” involves looking within and looking across. We must look within to become aware, accept, and understand our own thoughts, feelings, wishes, hopes, and challenges. We must look across to recognize, make space for, and honor our partner’s experiences and reality. Each step of the journey brings new challenges and opportunities for each person and for the relationship itself. It is in this journey, more than in any imagined destination, where the promise of love, connection, and fulfillment can be found.

Journey to Self-Love: 39 Tips on How and Where to Start Yours

Journey to Self-Love

When was the last time you really felt like you loved yourself? It’s a question that I used to ask myself often, and one time, in particular, comes to mind.

Recently, I was praising my son’s latest efforts at learning how to ride a bike. As lots of parents know, it can take some serious work to find positive and encouraging words for them to keep going.

But, I knew my son was doing his best, which is worthy of praise.

That’s when it hit me-my hard work also deserves recognition. Yet, too often, I’ll zero in on all of my imperfections.

While I may always have a different kind of love for myself than I do for my child, it’s important to step out of cycles of negativity and engage in a journey to self-love that transforms my mental well-being.

Self-love is integral to so many aspects of your life. Without self-love, your mental health, your physical health, and even the opportunities you take can be negatively impacted.

My life without self-love was a difficult journey, and it wasn’t until I started loving and accepting myself that things became much easier for me.

Where there is self-love there is endless happiness .

But the one major obstacle in my path was where to start with self-love.

If you’re ready to cultivate change in your life but don’t know where to begin with self-love, in this article I’ll be given helpful tips that will get you started on your self-love journey.

  • Identify negative self-talk, and replace it with compassionate understanding. Speak to yourself like you would to a beloved friend, with care.
  • Invest in activities that feed your mind and soul. Find hobbies that make you feel alive, fostering a deeper connection with yourself.
  • Understand that self-love is a journey, not a destination. Commit to continuous growth and acceptance, knowing that taking care of yourself evolves with you.

Journey to Self-Love: How to Start?

A girl sitting on her window sill, reading a book with a few other books stacked up behind her and the view of the distant buildings from her window.

1. Acknowledge How You Are Feeling

One of the easiest ways to figure out how to begin a self-love journey is to simply acknowledge and validate your emotions. Doing so is an important aspect of practicing self-care and self-love.

While it might be hard at first, taking a moment to recognize how you feel makes it possible to begin creating a strong and deeper connection with yourself that promotes emotional well-being.

One simple and effective way to do this is through self-love journaling, which allows you to express your emotions freely and without the fear of being judged.

I’ve established a daily practice of spending at least 30 minutes every night journaling so that I can get in touch with myself and dive deeper into the events of my day.

It’s amazing how many things can just fly by you if you don’t take the time to fully explore what’s happening to you, both internally and externally.

Alternatively, you can also achieve similar benefits by verbally acknowledging your feelings. For instance, I like to say my feelings out loud.

Saying, “Today, I feel stressed out and overwhelmed” makes my feelings seem more concrete and valid.

It’s hard to ignore what you just wrote down or said, which means you’ll already be doing the work of acknowledging that your feelings exist.

This kind of self-awareness empowers you to manage your emotions effectively, which gives your personal growth a boost.

2. Accept How You Are Feeling

Emotions are a normal and inevitable part of the human experience, and it is important to embrace this truth.

By accepting your emotions, you create a space of compassion and understanding within yourself. Instead of criticizing or suppressing your feelings, remind yourself that it is perfectly okay to feel the way you do.

I’m a big fan of positive affirmations that remind me of the fact that it’s normal to feel emotions and experience them.

I’d recommend repeating affirmations such as, “It’s perfectly okay to feel this way right now, and I fully accept and honor all of my emotions, even the big ones.”

Embracing this acceptance allows you to develop a healthier relationship with yourself, promoting emotional well-being and self-compassion.

It opens the door for personal growth and self-acceptance, leading to a more authentic and fulfilling life.

3. Think About Your Feelings From Another’s Perspective

It’s helpful to picture yourself in someone else’s shoes to gain a fresh perspective on your emotions. For instance, you can think about what it would be like for a friend who is dealing with the same emotional experience.

I’ve always found that stepping outside of myself worked wonders for me emotionally.

Recently, I had a stressful time at work when I had to take on some extra responsibilities while my coworker was out on leave.

Naturally, adding more onto my plate left me frazzled, and I’ll admit I felt incompetent when it came to doing a few things that were new.

But, I made sure to take a step back and view myself like I would someone just starting their first day at a new job.

Suddenly, I started to feel the same sense of compassion and empathy for myself as I would give to someone else.

Whenever you get stuck in a negative downward spiral, try this exercise for size.

While it might take some imagination to see yourself from someone else’s perspective, it’s a great way to stop beating yourself up for something that’s completely understandable from another angle.

4. Create a Habit of Accepting Who You Are

Embracing your unique qualities and traits is a powerful act of self-acceptance and self-love.

By recognizing and appreciating the aspects that make you who you are, you cultivate a sense of confidence and authenticity.

Instead of seeking validation from others, shift your attention inward and focus on the qualities you genuinely love about yourself.

I used to play the comparison game all the time and look to people to tell me that I was indeed worthy. But rather than assuring me or bolstering my confidence, it left me feeling worse.

Treat yourself with utmost respect and kindness, acknowledging that you are deserving of love and appreciation from within.

By doing so, you cultivate a strong sense of self-worth and build a foundation for a fulfilling and authentic life.

Tip

5. Focus on What Calm Your Mind and Soul

Cultivating self-love can be achieved through the practice of being present at the moment.

When you consciously focus on the present, you become more attuned to your thoughts, emotions, and sensations.

By practicing mindfulness, you develop a heightened awareness of your inner world, gaining a deeper understanding of your feelings and experiences.

This understanding is important if you wish to love yourself, as it allows you to recognize and acknowledge your emotions without judgment.

Being present also enables you to fully engage with the world around you, appreciating the beauty and opportunities that exist in each moment.

Through this intentional awareness, you create space for self-compassion, self-acceptance, and ultimately, a profound sense of self-love.

Mindfulness can be cultivated in any number of ways, but my favorite is mindfulness meditation.

I meditate for at least 10 minutes each day, and I’ve found plenty of audio and videos to guide me through it so that I never get distracted.

6. Set Personal Boundaries for What Matters to You

Learning to set boundaries is an essential aspect of self-care and preserving your overall well-being.

It involves recognizing your limits and understanding when to say no to others in order to prioritize your own needs.

By establishing and enforcing healthy boundaries, you protect your time, energy, and emotions from being drained by external demands and obligations.

This practice allows you to create space for self-reflection, relaxation, and pursuing activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.

Setting boundaries also helps in maintaining healthy relationships, as it encourages open communication, mutual respect, and a balanced give-and-take dynamic.

I learned the hard way that my lack of boundaries was making me feel as though I mattered less and opening me up to poor relationships.

Boundaries can also be simple and designed to preserve relationships.

By valuing and protecting your own needs, you cultivate a stronger sense of self-worth and preserve your mental and emotional health.

7. Find Physical Activity That Gives You Joy

Exercising isn’t on everyone’s list of top priorities, but it’s far more important than it seems, especially in regard to loving yourself.

Engaging in regular physical activity offers a multitude of benefits for both your physical and mental well-being.

By finding an exercise routine that you genuinely enjoy, you can make it a consistent and fulfilling part of your daily routine.

Physical activity not only boosts your mood and increases energy levels through the release of endorphins, but it also promotes overall health and longevity. Whether it’s jogging, dancing, swimming, or practicing yoga, the key is to choose an activity that brings you joy and suits your preferences.

By incorporating regular exercise into your life, you can experience improved cardiovascular health, increased strength and flexibility, reduced stress and anxiety, better sleep quality, and increased self-confidence.

8. Maintain a Healthy Diet

Nourishing your body with nutrient-dense foods is an essential aspect of taking care of yourself and your overall well-being.

By focusing on a well-balanced diet that includes ample amounts of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains, you provide your body with the necessary nutrients for optimal functioning.

Not only does this benefit your physical health by supporting proper organ function, boosting the immune system, and maintaining a healthy weight, but it also has a profound impact on your mental well-being.

Certain nutrients found in these foods, such as omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and antioxidants, have been linked to improved cognitive function, mood regulation, and reduced risk of mental health disorders.

Additionally, eating a balanced diet can increase energy levels, enhance focus and concentration, and promote a more stable emotional state.

With that in mind, I know how much of a struggle it can be to change your diet, I’ve been there. My advice is to start small.

Gradually begin introducing healthy snack foods and more fruits and veggies over time without restricting yourself.

As you get used to eating healthier, making small changes all the time to switch over to a healthy diet becomes quite simple.

I’ll also note that keeping some pre-cut veggies and packable fruit handy makes it easier to stick to this goal when you’re on the go.

9. Have a Good Sleep Routine

Getting sufficient sleep is paramount for maintaining optimal physical and mental health. It is recommended to aim for a minimum of 7 hours of restful sleep each night.

Establishing a nightly routine and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule can contribute to creating a healthy sleep environment.

By prioritizing regular sleep patterns, you allow your body to regulate its internal clock, promoting better quality sleep.

Some of the ways I’ve improved my sleep hygiene include winding down before bed by reading a book or listening to a podcast, creating a relaxing ambiance, and avoiding stimulating things like screens and caffeine.

Sustaining healthy sleep habits sharpens cognitive function, boosts mood, strengthens the immune system, and supports overall well-being.

10. Start a Gratitude Journal

Journaling is great for self-love . Gratitude journaling? Even better!

Creating a special time each day when you can acknowledge and appreciate the positive aspects of your life is an amazingly powerful practice that boosts your positivity and elevates your mindset.

Loving yourself becomes much easier when you can see yourself in a positive light.

Practicing gratitude is something that you might already do in your thoughts, but writing down the things that you are grateful for reinforces all of the good things that come when you start shifting your mindset to one that is focused on positivity and abundance.

This simple act of reflection helps you recognize the blessings and beauty that exist in your life, no matter how small they may seem.

As you develop a habit of gratitude, you become more aware of your own worth and the richness of your experiences, nurturing a sense of appreciation and contentment.

11. Seek Therapy or Counseling Only if You Feel You Need It

A colorful illustration of a group of women siting at a table, having a cup of coffee.

As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, loving yourself is often much easier said than done.

If you find yourself grappling with self-love, reaching out to a licensed therapist or counselor can provide invaluable support on your journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance.

These professionals possess the expertise to help you navigate the complexities of your thoughts and emotions, offering guidance and insights tailored to your unique experiences.

Through therapy, you can gain a deeper understanding of the underlying factors that contribute to your struggle with self-love, and develop effective strategies to challenge negative beliefs and cultivate self-compassion.

Therapists create a safe and confidential space for you to explore your inner world, offering empathy, validation, and practical tools to promote healing and personal growth.

Seeking professional help is a courageous step towards prioritizing your well-being and can empower you to transform your relationship with yourself, allowing you to develop a genuine and enduring sense of self-love.

12. Learn to Say “No”, It’s Mandatory

Protecting your time and energy requires discernment in accepting commitments that truly align with your priorities and values.

It’s essential to recognize that putting yourself first is not selfish but rather an essential act of caring for yourself.

By respectfully declining requests or obligations that don’t serve your well-being, you honor your own needs and prevent burnout.

I could never say no, and it made self-love much more difficult to attain.

Saying no allows you to create space for activities and relationships that truly nourish and uplift you, people with a lack of self-love will shy away from doing such action. This behavior will empower you to set clear boundaries, prioritize self-care, and live in alignment with your authentic self.

13. Limit Your Social Media Use

Excessive time spent on social media can have a detrimental impact on self-love as it often negatively affects self-worth.

Setting boundaries on social media usage is critical to promoting a healthier relationship with oneself.

By consciously limiting the time you spend scrolling through feeds and engaging in comparison, you create space for self-reflection and self-compassion.

I used to scroll through social media, paying attention to every negative thing that was targeted my way or comparing myself to others I saw leading the perfect lives.

Guess what? It never helped me in any way, shape, or form.

Redirecting that time and energy towards activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul allows you to focus on your own growth and happiness.

By disconnecting from the constant stream of curated lives and embracing your own unique journey, you cultivate a stronger sense of self-love, acceptance, and appreciation for the present moment.

14. Regularly Spend Time in Nature

Nature has a profound impact on mental health, offering a multitude of benefits such as stress reduction, improved mood, and relaxation.

Actively seeking opportunities to spend time outdoors and immerse yourself in the beauty and serenity of the natural world can greatly contribute to your overall well-being.

Whether it’s taking a walk in a nearby park, going for a hike in the mountains, or simply sitting by a peaceful lake, connecting with nature allows you to escape the pressures of daily life and find solace in its tranquility.

The sights, sounds, and scents of nature have a soothing effect on the mind and body, promoting a sense of calm and inner peace.

Engaging with the natural environment also encourages mindfulness and present-moment awareness, grounding you in the here and now.

Of course, this works best if you’re near nature. If you’re a bit far removed like me, you can always grow your own houseplants indoors, look at videos or photos of nature, and find other ways to get your daily dose of nature.

15. Dress The Way That Makes You Feel Good

Choosing clothing that makes you feel confident and comfortable is an important aspect of cultivating self-love.

The clothes you wear have the power to influence your mood, self-perception, and overall confidence.

When you select clothing that aligns with your personal style and makes you feel comfortable in your own skin, it becomes a form of self-expression and a reflection of your authentic self.

Dressing in a way that makes you feel good uplifts your spirit and boosts your self-esteem. It reminds you to honor and appreciate your unique body and personal taste.

By intentionally choosing clothes that make you feel confident, you are embracing self-love by valuing your individuality and presenting yourself to the world in a way that resonates with your true self.

I like to keep things sporty but still fashionable when I’m out and about with my family and friends which helps me shine when I go out. It’s how I stay confident and in love with myself.

16. Invest Time in Hobbies and Interests

Dedicating time to activities that bring you joy and fulfillment is an essential component of self-love.

By carving out regular moments in your schedule for hobbies, passions, and interests, you create a space for personal growth and self-expression.

Engaging in activities you enjoy allows you to tap into your creativity, explore new talents, and experience a sense of accomplishment.

It also provides a break from the demands of daily life, nurturing your mental and emotional well-being.

Although I’m rather busy, I always make time for things that I enjoy doing like writing my own stories or making candles!

Do what enriches your life.

17. Do 5 Minutes of Deep Breathing and Meditation Daily

Deep breathing and meditation are powerful practices that can have a transformative impact on your well-being and self-love journey.

By consciously engaging in deep breathing exercises and regular meditation, you can reduce stress and anxiety, and cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness.

Deep breathing techniques, such as diaphragmatic breathing or box breathing, help activate the body’s relaxation response, calming the nervous system and promoting a state of inner peace.

Meditation, on the other hand, allows you to observe and detach from your thoughts, creating a sense of mindfulness and presence.

Through these practices, you develop a deeper understanding of your inner landscape, allowing you to cultivate self-compassion, self-acceptance, and a stronger connection with your authentic self.

I’m a big fan of using both, with meditating being my go-to exercise when I’m at home and deep breathing being the perfect exercise for when I need a quick reset when I’m at work or otherwise out of the house.

18. Avoid Toxic Relationships or Walk Away if You’re in One

Safeguarding your emotional well-being involves consciously distancing yourself from toxic or harmful relationships.

Recognizing and acknowledging relationships that drain your energy and negatively impact your self-worth is an important step towards self-love.

By setting boundaries and creating distance from individuals who exhibit toxic behaviors or consistently bring you down, you create space for healthier connections.

Surrounding yourself with positive, supportive, and uplifting individuals can have a profound effect on your self-esteem and overall well-being.

Seek out relationships that energize and inspire you, where you feel valued, accepted, and respected for who you truly are.

I used to solely spend time with people who I thought were fun but who actually said many things behind my back and treated me poorly on occasion.

Now, I only spend time with people who love me for me.

19. Surround Yourself with Like-Minded People

Spending time with supportive and understanding individuals who share your goals and values is great for your sense of connection and self-acceptance.

Surrounding yourself with like-minded people creates a supportive network that understands and celebrates your aspirations.

Their presence can provide a sense of validation, encouragement, and a shared sense of purpose.

Engaging with individuals who genuinely support your journey nurtures a deeper sense of connection, as you feel accepted and understood for who you are and what you strive for.

These relationships become a safe space where you can openly express yourself, share your challenges, and celebrate your victories.

I started by asking myself, who am I? Then, I looked for spaces where I could find people who would share a similar journey and goals that I could connect with.

20. Set Personal Goals and Track Your Progress

Establishing and actively pursuing personal goals is a powerful tool for boosting your sense of accomplishment and self-worth.

By setting meaningful objectives and working towards them, you create a sense of purpose and direction in your life.

Regularly assessing your progress allows you to track your growth and development, providing a tangible reminder of your capabilities and achievements.

Celebrating both small and significant successes along the way reinforces a positive self-image and cultivates self-love. It serves as a reminder that you are capable, resilient, and deserving of recognition.

I recommend getting started by setting s m a r t goals . These goals help you stay on track, keep you focused on exactly what it is you want, and make it easier to celebrate every milestone until you reach the final lap.

By acknowledging and appreciating your accomplishments, you develop a mindset of self-empowerment and motivation, encouraging you to continue striving for personal growth and fulfillment.

21. Learn New Skills to Advance in Your Life

A woman with long hair, working on a book and surrounded by pieces of paper, leaves and books.

Engaging in the process of learning new skills can have a profound impact on your self-esteem and experience a sense of achievement.

When you challenge yourself to expand your knowledge and abilities, you embark on a journey of personal growth and discovery.

As you acquire new skills, whether it’s learning a musical instrument, mastering a new language, or acquiring a professional skill, you experience a boost in confidence and a deep sense of accomplishment.

Each milestone reached and each obstacle overcome reinforces your belief in your own capabilities, nurturing a stronger sense of self-love. By actively engaging in the pursuit of knowledge and skill development, you demonstrate self-care and a commitment to your personal growth.

I love learning new skills so much that I make time for at least an hour of a course each day. I also dip my toes into new hobbies every now and again to expand my horizons.

21. Make Time Daily for Self-Reflection

Regular self-reflection is a powerful practice that allows you to gain deep insights into your thoughts, feelings, and actions, aiding your journey toward self-love.

By setting aside dedicated time for introspection, you create an opportunity to evaluate your progress and make necessary adjustments.

Self-reflection helps you become more aware of patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be hindering your self-love journey.

It enables you to identify areas where you can improve and develop greater self-compassion.

Self-reflection comes in many forms, but my favorite still remains journaling. It allows me to keep a consistent record of my thoughts, feelings, and personal growth.

If I never need to see how far I’ve come or get advice from old me, I just have to flip the page.

22. Listen to Your Favorite Music

Music has the remarkable ability to influence our mood and mindset, making it an incredible tool for promoting self-love and positivity.

By curating a playlist of songs that inspire and uplift you, you create a personalized soundtrack for your journey toward self-acceptance.

Choose melodies and lyrics that resonate with your aspirations and evoke feelings of empowerment, joy, and self-appreciation.

As you immerse yourself in the melodies, the music acts as a therapeutic outlet, allowing you to connect with your emotions and find solace.

It serves as a reminder of your strength, resilience, and unique journey. The power of music lies in its ability to create a safe space for self-reflection, healing, and self-expression.

Still, I’ve found that using my own playlists can get quite stale.

If you need something new and exciting to give you a boost during any part of the day, look on platforms like Spotify for something uplifting that someone else created.

23. Have a Self-Care Routine

Prioritizing self-care is essential for nurturing your mind, body, and spirit.

Of course, self-care encompasses nearly everything, from goal-setting to exercise.

I like to start by focusing on certain parts of the day. Say, for example, your mornings.

My mornings consist of getting up, stretching, exercising, then doing some meditation.

Once I’ve meditated, I’ll then jump in the shower and eat a hearty, healthy breakfast before I get started on work.

It hasn’t failed me yet!

24. Learn and Practice Forgiveness Towards Yourself and Others

Acknowledging your mistakes and accepting that everyone is prone to errors is an essential step in cultivating self-love.

Embracing a mindset of self-forgiveness allows you to release the burden of past transgressions and create space for personal growth.

Recognize that making mistakes is a natural part of being human, and they offer valuable lessons and opportunities for self-improvement.

By forgiving yourself, you demonstrate compassion and understanding toward your own imperfections.

Letting go of self-judgment and guilt enables you to move forward with a renewed sense of self-acceptance and love.

I used to judge everything little thing I did that I deemed as bad. Now, I’ve embraced radical forgiveness to move past the minor mistakes I make and work towards the life of love that I deserve.

Embrace the transformative power of forgiveness as a catalyst for growth. It will advance your journey to self-love with openness and compassion.

25. Celebrate Your Achievements, No Matter How Small They Are

Recognizing and celebrating your successes, no matter how small is a powerful practice that can significantly impact your self-esteem.

By consciously acknowledging your accomplishments, you shift your focus toward the positive aspects of your journey. Celebrating even minor milestones cultivates a sense of pride and reinforces your belief in your abilities.

It serves as a reminder that you are capable and deserving of recognition.

I like to celebrate myself by keeping a document open with all the things that I’ve achieved throughout the week. Then, when I’m satisfied with what I’ve accomplished, I’ll treat myself to something small as a reward.

26. Seek Support From Loved Ones That You Can Trust

Reaching out to friends and family for help and encouragement is a valuable aspect of your journey toward self-love.

Recognize that you don’t have to navigate this path alone. Your loved ones can provide support, understanding, and a sense of belonging as you embark on your journey of self-discovery and acceptance.

Sharing your challenges, fears, and triumphs with trusted individuals strengthens your bond and creates a support network that uplifts and empowers you.

Their perspective, guidance, and encouragement can offer valuable insights and inspire self-reflection.

Opening up to others also helps you develop vulnerability, deepening connections and reinforcing the notion that you are deserving of love and support.

27. Take Regular Breaks From Work to Fresh Up Your Mind

I’ve been known to overwork myself. But speaking from experience, burnout is very real , and it doesn’t contribute to a healthier happier you.

In fact, overworking is actually reinforcing the belief that you don’t deserve time and space to yourself.

Allowing yourself time to rest and recharge is important for maintaining your overall well-being.

Regular breaks serve as a vital antidote to stress and prevent burnout by providing an opportunity to replenish your energy reserves.

Take moments of pause to step back, reflect, and prioritize self-care. It gives you the chance to engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, nurturing your mental health.

Better yet, embracing rest and relaxation paves the way for a healthier mindset, increased productivity, and a greater sense of balance in your life.

28. Learn to Manage Stress Effectively

Developing healthy coping strategies is essential for managing stress and nurturing your self-love journey.

Prior to learning self-love, I would turn to a wide range of coping mechanisms to try to get through life, and they weren’t always healthy.

Things like overeating or avoidance prevented me from treating myself with love and care.

But like me, you can turn it around.

You can manage stress more effectively and healthily by incorporating practices like exercise, mindfulness, and effective time management into your day.

29. Find Ways to Help Others

Engaging in acts of kindness and helping others not only benefits those receiving support but also has a profound impact on your own mental health and overall well-being.

Volunteering or offering assistance to those in need can create a sense of purpose and fulfillment, creating a deeper connection with your community.

Helping others promotes feelings of empathy, compassion, and gratitude, which in turn boost your own self-worth and sense of self-love.

It reminds you of the power you possess to make a positive difference in someone else’s life. The act of giving generates a ripple effect, spreading positivity and creating a virtuous cycle of well-being.

In today’s world, you have two ways you can go about this.

I got started by volunteering for various organizations online, but there are plenty of in-person opportunities that are likely available to you if you ask around in your city.

30. Learn to Laugh at Yourself, Don’t Take Life Too Seriously

Developing a sense of humor is a valuable asset in your journey toward self-love.

Embracing lighthearted moments and allowing yourself to laugh not only brings joy and positivity into your life but also helps you navigate tough times with greater resilience.

Laughter has a remarkable ability to reduce stress, uplift your spirits, and promote a sense of well-being.

It allows you to find light in challenging situations, shifting your perspective and enabling you to approach obstacles with a more positive mindset.

It serves as a reminder to embrace imperfections and find beauty in the whimsical and unexpected.

I always get a good chuckle when something unexpected happens, and sometimes I’ll even seek out laughter by watching funny videos online.

So, allow yourself to laugh, find humor in everyday moments, and embrace the transformative power of laughter as an integral part of your self-love journey.

31. Give Yourself Time and Be Patient With Your Progress

A young woman sitting comfortably on the floor, wearing her glasses and headphones while typing away on her laptop in a cozy room.

Framing self-love as a journey, rather than a destination, is essential for cultivating a sustainable and fulfilling relationship with yourself.

Recognize that it takes time, effort, and dedication to develop a deep sense of self-acceptance and love.

Be patient with yourself as you navigate through ups and downs, setbacks, and triumphs.

Practice self-compassion, extending the same kindness and understanding you would offer to a dear friend, and embrace the process of self-discovery, acknowledging that growth and transformation occur gradually.

After all, if you can’t be patient and kind to yourself, how can you expect to navigate life with joy?

32. Disconnect From Technology Regularly

Unplugging from devices and disconnecting from screens offer a valuable opportunity to cultivate mindfulness and self-love by embracing the present moment.

In a world filled with constant digital distractions, dedicating time each day to detach from screens allows us to fully engage with our surroundings, thoughts, and emotions.

By immersing ourselves in the present moment, we can develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, appreciation, and gratitude for the simple joys of life.

This intentional disconnection enables us to develop a stronger connection with ourselves, enhancing our overall well-being and nurturing a greater sense of self-love and acceptance.

If you’re like me and you’re always on electronics but you want to limit your time, try installing website or app-blocking software . You’ll be amazed at how much personal time you’re able to spend with yourself when you limit your online activity.

33. Love Your Flaws, They Are What Make You Unique

No one is perfect, and it’s vital to accept and embrace your unique qualities, quirks, and flaws.

Self-acceptance is a powerful act of self-love that allows you to recognize and honor your authentic self. By acknowledging and embracing your individuality, you cultivate a sense of self-worth and inner peace.

It used to bother me that I couldn’t be or do everything perfectly. But I soon came to realize that no one can.

Understanding that flaws and imperfections are a natural part of being human empowers you to let go of self-judgment and unrealistic expectations.

Instead, you can celebrate your strengths, talents, and other aspects of yourself, knowing that they make you beautifully and wonderfully unique.

34. Learn to Spend Time Alone With Yourself

Embracing solitude is an essential part of self-love, as it allows you to truly understand and appreciate who you are.

It’s in these moments of peace that you can discover your likes, dislikes, and passions.

Whether it’s enjoying a book on a rainy afternoon or exploring a new hobby, appreciating your own company can open up a new world of self-discovery.

After all, you’re a fascinating person with unique talents and perspectives.

I like to spend some time with myself throughout the week just to get in touch with who I am enjoying an activity I like and doing some of my favorite things like making candles or watching a good show.

Spend some time getting to know yourself better, and you’ll find your own company to be truly enjoyable. Remember, being alone can be a good thing, and it’s certainly not the same as being lonely!

35. Practice Self-Love Affirmations Daily

Repeating positive affirmations daily can be a game-changer in your journey of self-love.

Speaking positive words to yourself, such as “I am worthy, I am capable, I am strong,” can help cultivate a mindset of positivity and self-belief. You’ll be surprised at how this simple practice can transform your outlook and elevate your sense of self-worth.

If you’re like me and you struggle a bit at the beginning, don’t worry. Affirmations can still work for you.

I started with something that was more believable: “I am worthy of love.”

By doing this, I was able to make sure that I was gradually building myself up so that I could confidently repeat some of the affirmations that I wasn’t ready for yet.

36. Work on Creating a Positive Mindset

One of the best decisions I’ve made was to intentionally cultivate a positive mindset.

Whenever I face a challenge, I remind myself of my past victories and use them as a springboard to overcome whatever lies ahead.

I’ve learned that staying positive isn’t about ignoring the negative, but rather understanding that even in adversity, there is potential for growth and learning.

Don’t become bitter and resentful toward the world. Instead, think of every development as an opportunity to challenge yourself and grow.

When you change your mindset, the world around you and the world within you completely transform.

37. Make Your Environment Serene and Uplifting

My home is my sanctuary, a place where I find peace and inspiration.

I’ve made it a point to fill my space with things that uplift me – be it plants, art, or a cozy reading nook.

This tranquil environment acts as a constant reminder of what brings me joy and peace, helping me love myself and my surroundings more.

Make your space a sanctuary that reflects your personality and uplifts your spirit. Fill it with things that bring you joy and help you know and appreciate who you are.

A serene and uplifting environment can serve as a daily reminder of your tastes, interests, and the things you love, helping to develop a sense of self-love.

38. Take a Vacation or Short Break When Needed

Remember, it’s okay to pause when you need to.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, taking a short break or a vacation can do wonders for your well-being. It doesn’t have to be a grand getaway; even a simple day off can refresh your mind and rejuvenate your spirit.

As someone who used to work to the point of burnout and past the point of burnout, doing this does not serve you at all.

In fact, one of the ways I managed to take on more responsibilities at work was by carving little mini-breaks into my day.

Taking a quick walk around the office, warming up a cup of tea to enjoy at my desk, and striking a yoga pose when the door was closed were a few little “me” times I enjoyed that relieved my stress.

It’s really all about paying attention to your mental and physical health and wellness that’s true self-love.

Always listen to your body and mind, and give them the rest they deserve. It’s not an indulgence, but a necessary act of self-love.

39. Respect Your Own Feelings and Intuition

I’ve learned the hard way that dismissing my own feelings and intuition can lead to regret.

Now, I make it a point to listen to that inner voice, trusting in my own judgment and emotions whenever a situation arises. When I feel uncomfortable or uncertain, I step back to reflect and honor those feelings.

Do you have gut feelings that you push down? Do you tend to ignore your intuition when it shows its face?

If so, it’s time to show yourself some love and listen to that inner voice that is so essential to the quality of your life.

Loving Yourself Begins With You

Are you looking for where to start with self-love?

Look no further than the person in front of the mirror. Discovering where to begin with self-love starts with you!

As long as you put the effort in and gradually build up a list of habits that help you love, accept, and appreciate yourself, the life you dream of is more than possible.

After all, where there is self-love, there is endless happiness!

Just remember that as with any new journey, making progress takes time.

Similar to how my daughter’s saxophone journey will take years before she reaches a professional level, gaining greater self-love requires consistent effort.

Soon, you’ll be able to look back at when you used to wonder if you really loved yourself and be able to say that today you truly do!

How To Start A Self Love Journey For Beginners

Congratulations on taking the first step of learning how to start your self love journey! Read this blog post to learn more on how to navigate the journey of self love.

how to start a self love journey

To give a disclaimer before I begin: I’m young AF. I’m in my early 20s and I mainly know how to start a self love journey from a young person’s perspective. It might be difficult to learn from me if you are older. I feel so weird and awkward giving my 30-something-year-old cousins advice, so… I don’t ever want to be a 20-something life coach. I want to give advice about self love. I truly know how to advise teenagers and 20-somethings.

Disclaimer 2: I honestly recommend getting a therapist. Finding a therapist that works for you does wonderful things for your mental health. After reading this post, please Google, “how to find a therapist” because therapy changed my self-esteem and anxiety tremendously.

I learned that reading all the posts and IG self love quotes is one step out of many when on a self love journey. A self love journey is also continuous.

How I Started My Self Love Journey

When I turned 20, I told myself that I’m not spending my 20s hating myself just like I did when I was a teenager. I was exhausted and tired of crying myself to sleep, fitting beauty standards that weren’t ever meant for me to fit, overworking, feeling like everyone else is better and prettier than me, and everything else. I was mentally, physically, spiritually, and even somehow mathematically exhausted.

I was closing my third semester of college and I had the worst semester ever. I was trying to fit into a crowd that wasn’t ever going to accept me, took a lot of my professor’s shi*ty attitudes personally, overworking myself to please my then-boss, and felt ugly. It seems like everyone was living their best life and I wasn’t. I felt like a complete failure.

Self love was something I always wanted. I honestly don’t want a million dollars or to be the smartest person in the world or the prettiest either. I want to be so confident and to love myself fully. You have no idea how jealous (and I admit it) I get of people who are so confident (and not the kind of confidence that’s a front to impress others) and full of self-love.

But being a self love journey never honestly ends. It’s almost like a muscle that we always have to take care of.

Here are my self love journey tips:

How To Start a Self Love Journey

1. realizing that you want to change & that you are worthy of self love..

Like I mentioned before, I was tired of hating myself. Hating myself was not getting me anyway and I finally realized it. I read a quote once that went like this, “Hating yourself isn’t getting you anywhere; why not try loving yourself.”

We are generally harder on ourselves and it’s so hard to love ourselves. I know. I’m still learning how to love myself.

2. Take time to get to know yourself.

This part of the self love journey can go in many directions, but it’s important to know who you want to love aka YOU. Figure out what you like and what you dislike. Create boundaries. Learn your love language .

This part of the self love journey is crucial. I recommend that everyone takes the time to figure out who they are and learn how to accept themselves. It’s difficult and I’m still trying to accept myself (even after a year after writing this blog post) .

3. Take care of your body.

Yes, that includes exercising and eating healthier. I can honestly say that exercising has made me feel more confident about myself. A good 30 minutes of exercising changes my whole day and mood. I may not have my ideal body yet but the fact that my body can move, stretch, sweat, etc. is so amazing.

Aside from exercising, you should change your diet to healthier options. I know that may be a pain in the butt to change your whole diet, but it’s worth it. The foods you eat affect your mood and energy. It is also important to remember in order to care about your body, you have to nourish it. Yes, it’s nice to eat doughnuts and pizza now and then, but it shouldn’t be every day.

Finally, you also need rest. Resting is a huge challenge for me because I love working and doing my hobbies. I find that sometimes resting is the best option for me. If someone you love was working all night until they couldn’t keep their eyes open, you’d most likely tell them that they need to go to bed. You have to know when to tell yourself that.

4. Start a gratitude journal.

Gratitude is one of the best emotions you can have. When I started my self love journey, I used a small notebook. Now I can probably fill up a college-ruled notebook with things I like about myself and what I’m grateful for. I also included external things and I remember thinking about how great my old college apartment was during my senior year of college and how grateful I was for it.

Understanding what gratitude is can help you on your self love journey because of how you appreciate what you already have.

Update:  I also find gratitude helps out a lot more when you’re consuming tons of social media, especially TikTok or Instagram because of the consumerism and influencers constantly telling you that you need this product or that product or need this to look better. Sure, there are products that may help you, but most of the time influencers recommend products for the check—let’s be honest.

5. Write a list of things you like about yourself.

I know this sounds hard, especially in the beginning. But when I first started my self-love journey, I made myself write a page of things I liked about myself. I challenged myself. Even if I struggled, I finished the page. It’s one of the self love habits that is the hardest. Even though I don’t do it that much anymore, it’s a nice way to begin. You have to like something about yourself (even if it is your taste in music or the way you can draw or if you can do a backflip).

Also, a thing that helped me with my self-esteem is that I realized that I never hated myself when I was younger. I learned how to hate the littlest things about myself due to society’s beauty standards and being told simple things such as hairy legs is a flaw. Remember those beauty companies have to make money so they created random flaws (e.g. thigh gaps, hip dips, etc.) I also realized that most of my insecurities also stem from other people projecting their own onto me.

6. Start with small habits of kindness toward yourself.

Take yourself on dates. Buy things that you love. Save money for a nice vacation. It’s the little things that count. Pay off your credit cards. I recommend getting into the habit of creating habits to help you achieve the life you want. One book that changed my view of habits was Atomic Habits by James Clear . It helps you realize that habits can be good or bad and how doing a small thing every day can yield huge results.

7. Work on self-talk.

This is the BIGGEST change I made in my self-love journey. It wasn’t until I went to therapy that I learned what self-talk was. Self-talk essentially is the way that we talk to ourselves. We are always going to be our biggest critics. Changing my self-talk is one self love technique that I always have to do. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not as critical of myself, but there are times when I feel pressured and self-reject myself, especially at my first job after college.

I recommend trying to find evidence for your thoughts and starting to question them. For example, if you consistently think everyone hates you at your job, then figure out if they really do. I remember this one of the things I was telling myself, but I didn’t have any evidence. I was assuming and catastrophizing (more terms from my therapist).

Basically, work on how you talk to yourself. Most of the thoughts that we have are very black and white or extreme. A majority of our thoughts are not even our own. Our brain picks up on so much each day. 99% of the time people project their insecurities, values, fear, and opinions on us. Speak kindly to yourself. It’s enough that the world makes things hard, don’t add to it….which adds to my next point.

8. Be easier on yourself.

As I mentioned before, it’s hard to love yourself. In a world where we are taught that our natural features are flaws and that some random product will fix it, it’s just hard. It’s not until you realize that most of our flaws aren’t flaws that it gets easier. Society creates such rigid, unrealistic beauty standards that should not even exist. We’re humans. We are going to make mistakes. Most things are out of our control, anyway. We are going to not look perfect. Perfection does not exist.

Simply, be easier on yourself. Do not give yourself impossible expectations.

9. Reject society’s expectations and pressures and follow your own path.

One of the key steps of being on a self love journey is rejecting society’s expectations for your age, beauty, and lifestyle. Like I mentioned before, society has unrealistic beauty standards and expectations for us. Most of these expectations are outdated and only for the extremely wealthy, lucky, and/or intelligent. We only see the special .00001% of people.

Quit comparing yourself to the 19-year-old millionaire. They probably did not have fun during their teens and had to work every day or had a trust fund.

Quit comparing yourself to the ultra-beautiful girl on Instagram. She may have plastic surgery. She maybe hates her body. Maybe she uses Photoshop (which a lot of influencers use, so PLEASE DON’T COMPARE.)

Quit being jealous of the popular friend group at your school. They probably do not even like each other and only tolerate each other for convenience.

Quit comparing. It steals the joy.

Instead, figure out your own path in life. Again, find yourself. Learn what you love and dislike. If you don’t want a corporate job, then find another job path. Learn how to ignore society’s impossible standards. Also, learn that Instagram and most social media are just people’s highlight reels. Gone are the days of casual and fun social media, sadly.

10. Surround yourself with positivity.

Listen to motivational videos, follow self love and body positivity accounts on social media, unfollow anyone who makes you feel unworthy, and keep a Pinterest board just for positive quotes. Fight negativity with positivity. Learn how to be realistic with your thoughts and actions instead of jumping to conclusions and thinking the worst. Think about a positive outcome and if that’s too hard for you at first, think of neutrality.

To add, also don’t be delusional about your positivity or get into toxic positivity. I prefer to find practical positivity. For example, I may not be the best, but I’m a hard worker and my best is enough. I’m not the best at this task today, but I can learn how to get better if I keep trying.

Update: I know that a lot of self love prompts and quotes turn into this “Everyone loves me” or “I’m the most beautiful or attractive in the room,” which is fine. I do not want to diss anyone who likes this type of content. But that is a long way from first starting out loving yourself and isn’t addressing if you love yourself internally even if you’re not the most attractive in the room. Because there will be times when you simply aren’t and are you going to be fine with that? I honestly feel like it’s super surface-level. This is a new trend I’ve seen everywhere on social media and think it can be more useful. Instead, the quote can be “I love me,” “I’m beautiful in my own way” or “I’m beautiful according to my personalized beauty standards.”

11. Learn your love language.

During my first self love journey, I wrote down affirmations daily and journaled a lot. I also listened to positive videos. This helped me a lot because my love language is words of affirmation.

Find out what your love language is and self love exercises and activities for it.

12. Realizing that material items don’t mean much.

A ton of self love/self care content centers on buying this and that. But I will tell you that I got caught in spending tons of money on material items that later did not matter. Yes, buy those face masks for Self Care Sunday and buy yourself a nice outfit now and then.

But DO NOT rely on materialism. A lot of self love and care content tells you to buy whatever. But are you coping with life through shopping sprees and retail therapy?

You don’t need a designer bag or fancy sports car for self love. You need to work on your thoughts, habits, and self image.

13. Set standards for every aspect of your life.

It’s common for people to say set standards for dating, but really we need standards everywhere. Even for things such as eating, socializing, and how you treat yourself. One thing that was personally hard for me was sticking to my standards. If I didn’t want to buy produce at a certain store, I didn’t. It’s hard when you have limited options, but have standards.

This even goes as far as what thoughts you tolerate and the habits you have. Create standards for both external and internal things. It’s not being picky, but it’s realizing what you like and what you don’t want. You don’t owe anyone anything.

You don’t have to work at this job. You don’t have to lower your dating standards. You don’t have to hang out with those people. Set standards and stick to them.

14. Do a lot of self-reflecting.

Journal. Journal. Journal. Be with yourself. This is where you truly learn about yourself. Question your insecurities and projections. Figure out if you are settling or if you are leveling up.

15. Realize that going on a self love journey is not easy.

There is a lot of heartbreak and healing when it comes to a self love journey. You can look up all the self love activities and tips, but you need to realize that it takes commitment and work. It’s not easy. You’ll have times when you realize that you felt like you wasted so much time. You’ll realize that you need to go back to the drawing board. There are times when you think you’re good, but really not. You really need to sit back and realize that you are taking a huge step towards undoing a lot of what you learned and changing habits.

16. Commit to self love.

Over the summer, I realized I needed to adjust and get back on my self love journey. 2020 was rough and 2021 was rougher for me. I graduated college and had tons of anxiety because I was distracting myself from the fact that I was no longer a student and my life was centered around being a student. I had a lot of regrets and felt like a failure. I was constantly comparing and looking at people’s Instagram.

I failed to commit to self love and putting myself first. I was so caught up in what others were doing that I wasn’t even realizing the things I had. I lacked patience, abundance, and self-compassion.

I recommend really sitting and realizing that self love is a commitment. It’s a muscle that you have to work out. It’s like a plant that you have to water. It’s realizing that self love isn’t all rainbows and butterflies.

17. Self love is continuous.

Originally, I wrote this blog post back in 2021, and about a year and a half later, things later. I’m older, a little wiser, and more of an adult. I think that now I realize that a self love journey is really a journey. It never stops. Similar to the last point, self love is a commitment and it’s an important commitment that we promise ourselves. Now, that I’m looking back and reflecting, I think that we always need to check in ourselves. I thought for a while that I was at peak self love and that it’ll stay, but it dropped and I had to get back on a focused self love path. I think that we need to realize that self love isn’t a one time thing we do, but it should be ingrained in our habits and for us to continuously work on.

Overall, I recommend starting out with a 30-day self love journey challenge and reflecting on it. Take it easy and be easy on yourself.

Kinda optional:

Also, I recommend listening to BTS’s Love Yourself album or even one song. This album honestly is what made me revive my self-love journey over the summer. I listen to that album a lot to remind myself that I have reasons to love myself. I recommend checking out my blog post about BTS self-love songs because their music honestly is so moving and deeper than you’d ever expect.
