Dynamic Pro Gravel Rally Coilovers - Ford Fiesta ST 2014-2019 (MKVI)

Couldn't load pickup availability

Application Notes:

  • Please select desired rear upper mount style when ordering

Yellow Speed Racing's  Dynamic Pro Gravel Rally Coilover  Kits are an affordable coilover option for driver's that prefer the adrenaline of off road racing over normal track racing.  Dynamic Pro Gravel Rally Features:

  • Long shock travel (similar length to OEM travel) (varies by application)
  • Raises the vehicle  higher than factory suspension (2"+, depending on application)
  • Lower bracket is designed for additional rigidity and strength.
  • For suspension systems utilizing a MacPherson strut type, a inverted monotube design is utilized to reduce excessive heat transfer from the brake system to the damping oil and shock piston.
  • This suspension system comes standard with pillow ball upper mounts (where applicable). For some race regulations, we also offer R/U (hardened rubber upper mount) as an alternative for customers.
  • Front upper mount is 4mm thicker than the standard upper mount (depending on applications).
  • 55mm shock bodies with monotube inverted shock insert are utilized to ensure maximum durability and strength.
  • Compared to stock coilovers or general suspension systems on the market, our 2- way  or 3- way  Advanced Pro Plus Rally  Gravel  coilovers can withstand leaping movements and endure the impact from the  gravel  rally courses. These coilover kits offer excellent handling and shock absorbing capabilities for rough terrain. Especially for 3- way  Advanced Pro Plus Rally  Gravel  coilovers, having both low-speed and high-speed compression damping adjustments is a great tuning advantage as it can dissipate weight transfer on low-speed compression and reduce impact on high-speed compression to maintain tire traction.

The 2-way and 3-way Advanced Pro Plus Rally Gravel coilovers are made to order, and the lead time is about 12-14 business days.

High quality components are adopted to ensure product durability and stability. Each application is test fit and completely road tested to guarantee perfect performance and comfort.

Miata Rallycross Coilovers NA/NB (90-05)

THE absolute MAXIMUM wheel travel your Miata’s suspension will allow.

  • Description
  • Additional information

The development of our Rallycross coilover package began as the third major offering from Paco Motorsports for offroad and lifted NA/NB Miatas.  First came the simple yet effective 3″ lift kit, then came the extreme long travel Offroadster kit.  Both offerings are excellent at what they do, but there was a lot of middle ground untouched.  Some enthusiasts just want a little extra ground clearance on the cheap, and some want as much offroad capability possible.  The Rallycross setup fits squarely in the middle, and is even better than we expected, in terms of versatility on and off road.  Through prototyping and testing, the kit has seen many different iterations of shock design, shock mounting, spring rates, valving, etc.  Specific design intent for this coilover and mounting package followed these three main goals:

1. Max wheel travel allowed by the factory suspension — This means identifying and staying within the safe operating range of motion of the suspension’s upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, shock clearance to control arms, rear CV axle maximum angle of operation, etc.

2. Relatively low, progressive wheel rates — This is somewhat contradictory to more traditional street/track coilover packages, which use stiff spring rates to control body roll and aid in quick transitioning of weight transfer. The lower spring rates of the Rallycross setup allow the suspension to move through more of its range, soaking up rough terrain and promoting stability and comfort offroad. As with any quality suspension package, this required plenty of measuring, testing, math, and LOTS of trial and error before we settled on the final specs of all components.

3. Adaptability — We’ve learned so much from our customers over the years about lifted Miatas. Everyone has their own ideas and plans of how they want to take their car off the pavement. Many of our lift kit customers don’t even own a Miata yet. They just love the concept of a lifted Miata so much, they can’t wait to find an old roughed up example to throw some mud/snow tires on and go play offroad somewhere. Some are more serious and want to compete in national Rallycross events or Gambler 500 events, and we have some folks prepping for even higher levels of competition. Whatever the intended use, the Rallycross coilovers were designed to cover a multitude of intended uses.

— TECHNICAL SPECS —

Approx. Ride height range: +1″ to +4″ compared to “stock”

~8.5″ total wheel travel all around (max bump travel could be limited somewhat depending upon large tire diameters interfering with factory wheel well sheet metal. Anything below ~26″ diameter tire should allow full travel.)

Aluminum bodied shocks with 9/16″ pistons, threaded spring perches and heavy duty bump stops

Inverted rear shock design allows the high range of travel we achieve, which is traditionally a big limitation in rear shock setups on Miatas.

25″-26″ tire diameter without major fender/body modifications. Up to ~29+″ possible with extensive fabrication

–NOTES–

At higher ride heights, front camber adjustments will be limited to around zero camber to +1 degree camber.  Our extended front lower balljoints add up to 3 degrees of negative camber to allow more ideal alignment.  Similarly in the rear, care needs to be taken when using high ride heights and too much negative camber because of the extreme angle of the CV joint at full droop (when the suspension is fully extended downward).  Factory CV joints have been known to break with extreme use.  Stronger axles with beefier CVs and more range of motion are available.  Paco Moto Upper Rear control arms recommended on ALL lifted Miatas for proper camber setup and max CV axle angle limits…also provides for clearance with certain wheel/tire combinations, and more ideal wheel alignment.  Finally, the rear swaybar requires extended links to allow full wheel travel, which we also offer separately.

REQUIRES DRILLING FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM SHOCK HOLES ON ALL CARS FROM 12mm to 1/2″ DIAMETER

NB CARS (1999-2005) REQUIRE ADDITIONAL TRIMMING OF SHOCK TOWER HOLES TO FIT RALLYCROSS MOUNTS…

DirtFish Tech: How Rally Suspension Works

Words by Trevor Wert , Director of Marketing

It’s no ordinary suspension that gives rally cars their first-rate ride.

Rally racing puts a car through just about every terrible experience it could have. To name just a few, rally vehicles can expect to encounter and dominate: jumps, ruts, bumps, and rocks. If you hit a pothole in your day-to-day vehicle, it’s probably not going to feel very good. Now imagine hitting that pothole at 100 mph… while racing down a dirt road… in muddy conditions. Without the properly beefy rally suspension, you’d be in serious trouble, wouldn’t you? Rally suspension is key to any would-be rally racer. Here are some of the basics.

What Is Rally Suspension?

Arguably, the suspension is what makes the rally car a rally car. Rally racing is typically defined by its use of “unpaved” and “unforgiving” roads, and what makes a vehicle capable of deftly handling that terrain is its suspension. Simply put, the suspension refers to the system of tires, springs, and shock absorbers that link the car to its wheels. The suspension’s goal is to optimize the friction between the road and the tires, which in turn provides excellent handling and steering. You’re going to need those if you’re competing in rally.

How Is Rally Suspension Different from Regular Suspension?

In a regular car, your suspension is designed mostly for your driving comfort. A rally car’s suspension, on the other hand, is less concerned with how you felt after you landed a jump and more about how your car felt.

In comparison to a normal vehicle, rally car suspensions have: •Inverted monotube shocks •Shocks that are over triple the diameter •Different valving to handle high and low-speed impacts •Mounting tabs that are twice as thick •Shocks with adjustable compression, spring rates, and height of suspension available

These are just a few of the differences, without diving into too much detail. Suspension for a rally car is also relatively difficult to procure in the United States, as most companies in the industry are located in European countries.

Maintenance Is Key

Rally suspension is also unique from regular suspension in that the shocks they utilize can, and should, be maintained on a regular basis. A regular shock can simply be run until it’s dead, and there’s no real way to service it. A rally shock, on the other hand, needs to be greased, and the nitrogen levels need to be checked and adjusted for performance. At DirtFish, rally maintenance technicians do suspension check-ups every 60 hours of drive time for class cars, performing regular tasks as well as larger replacements where they are needed. The DirtFish team has also made modifications to aspects of the suspension, such as reconfiguring the shock “breather” to the interior of the hood to prevent mud, dust and water getting inside the suspension.

And the DirtFish manufacturer of choice? Reiger Racing Suspension. Learn more about rally suspensions by seeing them in action! Book with DirtFish for an unforgettable instructional rally program.

The drop-in TracTive fork cartridge kit on the Tenere 700 features closed nitrogen charged chambers to prevent cavitation which can lead to damping fade. The X-TREME cartridge is designed specifically for adventure motorbikes and has a hydraulic end stop to prevent bottoming during hard impacts.

The cartridges are designed for ultimate feel and control under varying loads and riding conditions. The closed cartridges have specific damping oil and a separated, pressurized nitrogen gas chamber. TracTive features the largest cartridge piston on the market, with a 35mm diameter, to ensure a high oil flow and a stable, well-controlled damping behavior.

The TracTive shock upgrade on the Ultimate Overland Motorcycle is key to getting through any challenge the trail may throw at us, with reinforced seal heads to prevent leaks when the going gets rough. The forged aluminum, hard anodized shock cylinders provide optimal strength and heat dissipation and the stainless mounting bushings prevent distortion where they bolt to the bike. The TracTive’s 3-way damping circuits have adjustments for rebound, high and low speed compression, and preload.

The TracTive X-TREME series is built with a PDS anti-bottoming valve to create a cushion effect when nearing end of travel which prevents hard bottom-out. With hydraulic preload adjustment, these models have the largest and most heavy duty preloader on the market, designed to take a punishment with low internal pressures and an unusually high 15mm of lift.

long travel rally suspension

I assume you’ve read the ‘lifting the RS’ thread a few times, great wealth of information

Thanks for the pointer. I did not read that thread - but I have now. I did read another thread, forgot the name, where it talked about team oneil doing a rally setup on a RS and I watched the youtube multiple times - . Good insight given there as far as protection, suspension heights / adjustments used, and other noticeable changes, like oil / RDU temps, etc.

The suspension:

Attachments

Automotive tire Tool Wood Gas Bicycle part

Before I put the suspension on, the measurements from the ground to the fender well was roughly 26 1/4” in the front and 27” in the back. Since I ordered the suspension with extended struts I decided to go with the lowest height setting on the front suspension for now. That placed the vehicle at 27 1/4 in the front. The rear suspension needed to be raised quite a bit and I’m still in the process of fine tuning the rear suspension height. After adding the suspension I did need to get an alignment. Below is the before and after alignment print out. You can see the toe needed adjustment afterward.

Font Schematic Parallel Rectangle Pattern

As a side note. They said I needed the extended dampener adjustment cables for the rear. But the small ones provided worked just fine. Modifications to the front was needed so that the dampener adjustment and camber adjustment could be reached. See attached. Also if you use the car modes you will need to get a suspension damping canceling kit as it won’t go into track mode without it.

Digital camera Reflex camera Camera lens Point-and-shoot camera Automotive lighting

Yeah I didn’t use the extensions with my YSR kit either. As for drive modes, just turn off the track mode suspension right after you change drive modes. No need for an expensive cancellation kit

Great! Thanks for the advice

@jdogg Please keep updating us! I am really intrigued with this setup as I want a good setup I can use that has a lift while also being able to do some light rallying. This would be perfect for me. Thank you!!!

All The Best Lift Kit Options For Your VA Chassis WRX/Sti

By Ben Boxer

  • May 5, 2022

When the 2015 Subaru WRX hit showroom floors, the feelings were mixed on the styling and the absence of a hatch option. This was also the first model year that Subaru chose to separate the WRX from the Impreza line. Instead of being a trim level of the highly successful Impreza, the WRX and STI were built on their own entirely new platform. But needless to say, the WRX remained popular across a wide range of consumers. Folks who love outdoor activities with a penchant for spirited driving are specifically fond of the powerful AWD rally-inspired WRX.

In recent years there has been an explosion of people becoming unwilling to part ways with their turbocharged WRX or STI in exchange for the ground clearance of a pickup truck or SUV. Instead, loyal Subaru owners have started lifting their cars and multiple companies now make it easier than ever to lift a WRX or STI.

While a WRX will never be able to compete with cars like Rubicons or 4Runners as a dedicated “off-roader,” or rock crawler, thousands of people have enjoyed the ability to reach trailheads and snowy ski resorts in their Subie without getting stuck. Not to mention the practicality, comfort, driving experience, and fuel economy are unmatched when compared to a large 4×4.

In this article, we’re going to give you all the info you need to decide whether or not to lift your WRX or STI, and we’ll share our favorite lift kits currently on the market. While lifting your Subaru is easier than ever, it can be done wrong and some kits out there simply aren’t worth bothering with as they can disturb the vehicle’s factory handling and alignment.

Table of Contents

Pros and cons of lifting your wrx.

While lifting your car in and of itself won’t do too much to change the performance, the supporting mods can create quite an impact. In particular, installing bigger tires can be the most noticeable factor.

The most common pros and cons are as follows:

While you will gain the ability to traverse more challenging terrain, your WRX may experience more body roll and harder cornering ability. This isn’t a huge deal for most drivers. You just need to be aware that it won’t handle as nimbly on the pavement as a lowered WRX or STI.

Fuel economy

Again, the lift kit itself won’t do much to impact this. But once you install larger, heavier tires, you may see a drop of 1-5 mpg. However, this number can vary wildly based on your ultimate tire selection and driving habits, and we think the ability to travel off-road substantially outweighs this issue.

Drivetrain stress

Once your vehicle is lifted with heavier wheels/tires, your engine, transmission, and axles are going to be forced to work harder to handle the added weight. But with some strategic throttle control and realistic expectations of capability, your vehicle can still have a long, healthy life.

Braking capability

While a lift kit itself doesn’t necessarily reduce braking performance, installing a heavier wheel and tire combo on a vehicle can affect braking. Your brakes are going to have to work harder to bring the vehicle to a stop with the extra unsprung weight. Be aware of this and give yourself a little more space on the road for braking distance.

Ground Clearance

Installing a lift kit gives your Subaru the ability to safely navigate non-paved roads. Even if there are rocks or washouts, you can easily enjoy getting to secluded areas. A full 2 inch lift kit and a slightly larger tire will bring your WRX or STI’s ground clearance close to that of a stock Outback.

Three most popular ways to lift a WRX/STI:

Lift springs, strut spacers, upgraded suspension assemblies.

Lift springs are stiffer and taller than the stock springs that came on your vehicle. You’ll have to swap out the factory springs with the new kit. They are really good for anyone who plans to load extra gear into the car. They also help stabilize the car’s handling ability even with a higher center of gravity after lifting. The main complaint with a stiffer spring is that they can be a little more jarring on bumpy roads.

Strut spacer kits are usually less expensive and easier to install than a spring lift. You bolt them to the top of the strut towers and they push your entire shock absorber down to add lift. The main issue with using only a strut spacer is that they don’t create additional suspension travel or offer a performance spring rate. So you may experience “butt sag” when loaded up with camping gear or off-road recovery gear. Here are some of the most important things to look for when selecting a good strut spacer kit: camber correction, multi-link/subframe spacers, customer service (reputation) and quality workmanship.

Some kits actually offer both springs and spacers. For example, RalliTek incorporate both forms of lift to provide proper off-road capability.

Longer suspension assemblies (longer struts, or long travel coilovers) are the ideal way to lift a vehicle. However, they are extremely expensive. Long travel coilovers usually start at $1600 and will require special order if they ever need to be replaced. This will cause at least a week of downtime in most cases.

We typically only recommend this option to people who have a chunk of disposable income and truly plan to abuse the vehicle. Anyone who wants to participate in higher speed “rally style” driving will require a long travel coilover setup (it’s okay. Sometimes we pretend to be Ken Block too.) If you are planning to just casually drive your Subaru through the forest at lower speeds, this might be overkill.

We also suggest this option to anyone who already has worn out shocks and is planning to replace them anyway. In this case, you may actually save money. If your current struts are in good condition though, this might not be the best choice.

Best 2015-2021 WRX/STI Lift Kits

Anderson design & fabrication 1" lift kit (strongest lift kit option).

lifted subaru wrx 2013 offroad in snow

We really appreciate the research and development that ADF puts into their products. They’re always one of the first companies to offer a lift kit when a new model comes out.

As far as strut top spacers go, ADF offers multiple options. However, their 1 inch lift is cost-effective and basic enough for the average DIY’er to do at home.

Their HDPE kits are really affordable and are available with a 1-3/8″ rear option for anyone who carries extra gear in the trunk. This helps cut down on “butt sag.”

ADF also offers steel spacer lift kits that are very well built. I use their steel spacers on my Subarus. The welds wrap around the spacer properly and are powder coated for long-term rust protection.

If you’re not 100% sure where to start or what lift will best meet your needs, we recommend calling ADF. They’ve always been really helpful any time we’ve had a technical question. We’ve used their kits and have had great results.

Need more than just a one inch lift? ADF has a ton of bigger options for your WRX as well.

Highlights:

  • 1 inch of lift with an additional 3/8″ available for the rear at only $20 extra
  • Usually available for under $170
  • HDPE construction makes corrosion a non-issue
  • Requires no extensive modification or additional expensive parts
  • Perfect for the casual driver who just wants a tad bit more clearance with a bigger tire
  • Larger steel lift kits available like this 2 inch full lift:

LP Aventure is a company based in Canada that has years of authority in the off-road and over-landing industry. They pride themselves on NHTSA and FMVSS126 motor vehicle safety standards, meaning that their kits allow your WRX to retain full factory safety features while providing extra all terrain capabilities.

Their 2 inch lift kit for the VA chassis WRX & STI will give your car the extra clearance to get around in the forest a little easier. We really like how comprehensive their kits are. They come with everything needed in order to lift your car the right way.

We see a lot of questions from people asking “I just installed a lift kit and now my wheels aren’t centered in the back anymore. How do I fix it?” or even “I bought a cheap kit from someone on Ebay and the alignment shop can’t get my camber within spec.” This kit takes the guesswork out of tracking down additional parts to do the job right.

Installing this lift kit will not interfere with your Subaru’s Eyesight system. We’ve talked to multiple people who’ve used it with no issues whatsoever.

Their kits are available from them or on Tire Rack which offers free shipping. If we were to purchase this kit, tirerack.com is probably where we would buy it. We’ve bought tires from them in the past and had fantastic customer service experiences.

  • Kits arrive with everything needed to lift your WRX or STI 2 inches without changing ride quality
  • Spacers are designed with 304 stainless steel and are TIG welded. They are tough, durable and resistant to corrosion. (Make sure to spend a little extra on the powder coated kit unless you want to paint them yourself)
  • Maintains original camber specs
  • Includes multi link spacers for rear tire alignment
  • Lengthened brake lines spacers
  • Longer exhaust spacers included
  • Hand brake spacers
  • Installation instructions conveniently located on their site for DIY’ers.

The LP Aventure WRX lift kits are a little more expensive than some spacer options, but they have a great reputation, are well designed, and contain a comprehensive parts list to make sure you have everything you need! If you want to order a kit and have it installed with no headaches, this is the right kit for you.

Flatout Suspension Long-Travel Coilover Lift Kit

If you have a taste for the finer things in life and prefer to install only the most premium equipment on your off-road builds, going with a coilover lift is a great choice for you.

A coilover system allows drivers to fine tune their suspension. For those who want to adjust dampening and dial in ride height, this is the best way to to accomplish a customized driving experience.

The adjustability is also helpful for those planning to carry extra gear in their WRX. Things like roof top tents, tire carriers, and camping gear can weight the rear down and these allow you to adjust for that load.

If you have the funds and plan to really test your WRX on the trails, the Flatout Suspension GR Lite is a great option. It’s the first long-travel coilover system that has been offered to the Subaru community at an affordable price with good post-sale support.

These coilovers can be rebuilt after they’ve been used on the trails. This means you’re not going to be stuck having to buy an entirely new setup once you finally wear them out.

  • Fully adjustable up to 3″ over stock height (remember to purchase multi link spacers to keep your rear wheels aligned properly if you go above 1 inches of lift)
  • Provides 6 full inches of travel in the front and rear
  • Hand Assembled
  • Fully Serviceable
  • Highly Polished Electro-Plated Nickel Cartridge
  • CNC Machined High-flow Aluminum Piston
  • Stainless Steel Shims
  • Light Weight Synthetic Shock Oil

RalliTek (Great Spring/Spacer Combo Kit)

lifted 2015 subaru wrx offroad with custom bumper

RalliTek is an Oregon Based rally/performance shop that’s been on the forefront of creating cutting edge parts for all Subaru models for over two decades. As partners with one of the most well-known Subaru tuning shops, PRE, they have a heavy presence and knowledge base in all areas of Subaru culture.

This authority and knowledge base has carried over into their off-road presence. They provide solid parts that they have tested extensively. If you live in Oregon, you may run into them at Brown’s camp doing big boy trails in their test vehicles.

We really like the fact that this kit incorporates a combination of lift springs and small spacers to achieve a 2 inch lift. This means the spring rate will be improved without having to switch over to a completely new shock/strut system.

“The RalliTEK 2” lift kit for the 2015+ STI features either RalliTEK Subframe Drop Spacers OR Whiteline adjustable rear control arms for camber correction after the lift. Factory front arms are adjustable from the factory and do not need to be replaced.

When lifting any car over an inch it’s also important to consider sway bar geometry. With RalliTEK adjustable endlinks the factory bar geometry can be retained. In order to keep body roll under control RalliTEK pairs this kit with RalliTEK springs. The spring rates are slightly stiffer than the factory spring rates to counteract the elevated center of gravity due to the lift. These springs sit more level than King springs for the best look.”

In this article, we’ve given you all the info you need to decide whether or not to lift your WRX or STI, and we’ve shared our favorite lift kits currently on the market. While lifting your vehicle is easier than ever, it can be done wrong, and some kits out there simply aren’t worth bothering with as they can disturb the vehicle’s factory handling and alignment. Consider the pros and cons to determine if it’s the right decision for you. If a lifted Subaru seems like the best option for you, choose the right type of lift, and you’ll be on your way to enhancing your WRX or STI for your next adventure!

Well first off, it's a super clean, 5 speed, that would make 99% of other 325's jealous. Second, its your car so send it all you want, just know many enthusiasts will cringe. If your going for it regardless, in my opinion you need to figure out your diff situation, whether you are going the cheap route with welding it and killing driveability, or spending the big $$$$ on a legit LSD. Then suspension and tires, but the way she rides now you will always be one wheel peeling, especially offroad. Another reason a cheap beater Xi would be more suiting to get all your wheels giving you traction. Not one. Either route you take good luck! Interested to see the outcome either way

There are separate classes for AWD and 2WD. SCCA Rallycross even separates FWD and RWD. A RWD BMW with an LSD will have traction relatively on par with everything else in its class. An xi with suspension mods would be competing against WRXs with LSDs in at least center and rear. Xi are open diff all around. There was a guy running a 330xi at nationals. He looked like he was driving very well, but the subarus had a clear traction advantage. To the OP, yellow speed racing and Ceika make "gravel rally" coilovers for the E46. I have a 330i I'd like to run a few rallycross events with. Since other mods would already put me in prepared or modified class, I've looked hard at these coilovers. I can't find any real reviews. May end up going with a set of B6s to replace the no name brand replacement stuff a previous owner put on. I've done a few events in my current car with KYB Excel G shocks/struts. They are widely recommended for stock class and held up fine through some pretty rough stuff.

Ima stay up on this thread and let you know how things go because I’m also building an e46 rally car, my base is a 2002 325ci. Not nearly as clean as yours but we going full send

I would be talking with the SCCA Rally participants first. Rally suspension and setup is a grey area even for a seasoned track guy like me.

Gotta love SCCA. Subaru with a real differential either in the center or rear, runs in the same class as a 330 Xi..... Laughable. But nothing new to me. It's been that way forever.

It's the simplest way. There are nine classes (stock, prepared, and mod) for each of three drivetrains. Dividing competition up any more would be too much.

Maximize wheel travel of your Exocet Off-Road's Miata-based suspension!

Description

  • Reviews (0)

The newest offering from Paco Motorsports for the Exocet Off-Road platform allows you to maximize the suspension travel when retaining Miata-based suspension. The Exocet Off-Road Rallycross Suspension package is an excellent step up over the basic 3″ lift kit without moving to the full long-travel Exocet Off-Road Ultimate Suspension package.

3. Adjustability — Each Exocet Off-Road builder has their own ideas and plans of how they want to take their car off the pavement. Regardless of your intended use, the Rallycross coilovers were designed to give you options and adjustability. The ride height can be adjusted easily with the threaded spring mounts and the rebound damping is 4-way adjustable.

Technical Details:

  • Approximate ride height range: +1″ to +4″ over stock
  • ~8.5″ total wheel travel all around
  • Heavy duty, KONI 4-way rebound adjustable monotube shocks with threaded spring perches and heavy duty bump stops
  • Inverted rear shock design allows the high range of travel we achieve, which is traditionally a big limitation in rear shock setups on Miata-based suspension.

Setup Notes:

At higher ride heights, front camber adjustments will be limited to around zero camber to +1 degree camber. Our extended front lower balljoints add up to 3 degrees of negative camber to allow more ideal alignment. Similarly in the rear, care needs to be taken when using high ride heights and too much negative camber because of the extreme angle of the CV joint at full droop. Factory CV joints have been known to break with extreme use. Stronger axles with beefier CVs and more range of motion are available. We recommend Paco Moto Upper Rear control arms on lifted Exocet Off-Roads for proper camber setup and max CV axle angle limits. If retaining a rear swaybar, extended links will be required to allow full wheel travel.

*REQUIRES DRILLING FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM SHOCK HOLES ON ALL CARS FROM 12mm to 1/2″ DIAMETER

By Troy Closson and Anna Betts

Many of the more than 100 Columbia University and Barnard College students who were arrested after refusing to leave a pro-Palestinian encampment on campus on Thursday woke up to a chilly new reality this week: Columbia said that their IDs would soon stop working, and some of them would not be able to finish the semester.

The students who were arrested were released with summonses. The university said all of the 100 or so students involved in the protest had been informed that they were suspended.

For some of those students, that means they must vacate their student housing, with just weeks before the semester ends.

Yet whatever the consequences, several of the students said in interviews that they were determined to keep protesting Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza.

They said that after being loaded onto buses with their hands tied, they had sung all the way to police headquarters. Many expressed a renewed belief in their cause, and were glad that the eyes of the nation were on Columbia and Barnard , its sister college .

The protests, the arrests and the subsequent disciplinary action came a day after the congressional testimony this week of Columbia’s president, Nemat Shafik, at a hearing about antisemitism on campus. Columbia has said there have been a number of antisemitic episodes, including one attack, and many Jewish students have seen the protests as antisemitic.

Responding to aggressive questioning from the House committee, Columbia officials said some of the protesters on campus had used antisemitic language that might warrant discipline.

But on campus fury was building. The administration called in the Police Department to quell the protests. Arrests — at least 108 — soon followed.

The aggressive response left students shaken — but also, they say, energized.

Among the protesters, whose demands included that Columbia divest from companies connected to Israel, was one particularly high-profile name: Isra Hirsi, a Barnard student who is the daughter of Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota.

At the congressional hearing on Wednesday, Ms. Omar had questioned Columbia administrators about their treatment of Palestinian and Muslim students. As Ms. Omar spoke in Washington, her daughter was in New York helping to organize the campus encampment of about 50 tents.

Ms. Hirsi, a junior, said in an interview that while she had been “mentally preparing” for being arrested, she was “shocked” at what actually unfolded. She left a precinct house at around 9:30 p.m. “So I was in zip ties for over seven hours,” she said.

Since being released, Ms. Hirsi, 21, said her professors had been supportive, although she was unsure what the future held. Still, she added that she was glad students had put a spotlight on the “hypocrisy coming from the Columbia University administration.”

“Everybody is invigorated,” she said.

“Even at this moment in time, they’re still holding down the south lawn,” she continued. “I think it’s beautiful.”

The next several weeks will be an uncertain period for those who were arrested, as well as for the university’s leaders. Many student protesters remained defiant after the arrests and vowed to continue their demonstrations.

For the unknown number of students who were suspended, a major shake-up looms as the semester ends.

Police officials said the students had received summonses for trespassing. The students said they expected to make initial court appearances next month. All of the students who were at the encampment have been suspended, university officials said, though it was not clear if every student at the encampment had been arrested.

The suspensions prohibit students from attending university events or getting into campus spaces, including dining halls, classrooms and libraries, the university said. It was not clear how long those prohibitions would last.

Some Barnard students said that they had received unexpected email warnings giving them 15 minutes to pack their belongings. Staff members would then escort any suspended students out of their dormitories, these students said they were told.

Some students, including Ms. Hirsi, said they were now bouncing between friends’ apartments. She said that she would fight her interim suspension. She said she had not yet returned to her room because doing so would require going with a chaperone from Barnard’s public safety team.

“I don’t really like the idea of that,” Ms. Hirsi said. “It makes me feel like more of a criminal than I think that I am.”

On Friday, Ms. Omar posted a message on social media saying that her daughter was not a lawbreaker, but a leader. She wrote that she was “enormously proud of her” for “pushing her school to stand against genocide.”

“Stepping up to change what you can’t tolerate is why we as a country have the right to speech, assembly, and petition enshrined in our constitution,” Ms. Omar wrote.

In a sharp editorial published this week , the campus newspaper, The Columbia Daily Spectator, denounced Dr. Shafik’s decision to arrest students and called on her to do more to protect protesters who have been doxxed, saying she had “demonstrated a complete lack of consistency in enforcing her principles, failing to differentiate between speech she personally opposes and speech warranting suppression.”

Dr. Shafik, who goes by Minouche, said in a letter on Thursday announcing her decision to summon the Police Department that the encampment had disrupted campus life and had created an atmosphere of intimidation.

Dr. Shafik said of calling in the police that she had taken “this extraordinary step because these are extraordinary circumstances.”

But many of the protesters, including several Jewish students, objected to the administration’s characterization of the tent demonstration. One Ph.D. candidate at Columbia who declined to give her last name said she was standing by the morals and ethics her Jewish faith had ingrained in her — not menacing her classmates.

Another Jewish sophomore at the university, Iris Hsiang, said it was the college — rather than her peers — that had made her feel unsafe. Her only crime, she said, was “sitting and singing on the lawns.”

She added that the coming commemoration of Passover, which marks Jewish freedom from slavery in Egypt, weighed on her. It was part of why she felt compelled to join the encampment.

“Judaism means standing for the liberation of all people,” she said. “And ‘never again’ means never again for anyone."

Ms. Hsiang was among the students who were shuffled into a series of holding cells and processed at police headquarters over the course of eight hours. Men and women were split up, and officers eventually cut off some of the zip ties. A number of Muslim students struggled to find space for their daily prayers, protesters said.

The Police Department did not respond to a request for comment.

The mood was anxious at times. But the students said they tried to maintain their morale.

“We were chanting all the way through until we were put in our cells,” said Marie Adele Grosso, a 19-year-old Barnard student.

Ms. Grosso said she joined the encampment in part to follow a model of activism her family had set. Her family has loved ones in Gaza.

“I’ve known for a while that this is something I would be willing to be arrested for,” she said.

When her grandmother heard about what had happened on campus, she sent her a text.

“She was proud of me,” Ms. Grosso said.

Ticket prices for the Trans-Siberian Railway also depend on the current ruble exchange rate.

Is the Trans-Siberian Railway expensive?

Before starting on your Trans-Siberian Railway adventure you naturally want to know what the entire trip will cost. Although this sounds like a simple question, it is pretty difficult to answer. The Trans-Siberian Railway price of travel depends on the following factors:

  • Which travel class do I want to use? The price for a first class ticket is about three times the price of a 3rd class ticket
  • Am I willing to buy the tickets myself and assume responsibility for the organisation of the trip?
  • How many stopovers do I want to make? The more breaks, the higher the total price.
  • What sort of accommodation do I want? Will it be a luxury hotel or will a hostel dormitory be sufficient?
  • What tours and excursions would I like to go on?
  • What is the current exchange rate for rubles?

Basically, everything from a luxury to a budget holiday is available. If you buy yourself a 3rd Class nonstop ticket at the counter, a few hundred Euros will cover the price. All you will experience is a week on the Trans-Siberian train and will see nothing of the cities on the way. There is, however, any amount of room for upward expansion. Everyone makes different choices about which aspects they are willing to spend money on. I personally prefer to save money on accommodation and railcar class, visit as many cities and do as many trips as possible. To enable better classification of your travel expenses I have contrasted two typical traveler types. In the third column you can calculate the total cost of your own journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that these are only rough estimations and not exact prices.

The all-in costs seem fairly high at first. However, they cover everything and it is quite a long journey taking four weeks. Many people forget to consider that when looking at the list. We should also deduct the running costs for food and leisure at home. I think most visitors to this page will classify themselves somewhere between the two categories, that is around the € 2,000 – € 2,500 range. When comparing these prices with other travel packages, you get the impression that it is hardly worthwhile travelling individually on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that most packages last no more than 14 days and you are herded like cattle through the most beautiful locations.

If you spend less time on the Trans-Siberian Railway you will, of course, pay less. I chose this particular travel length because I prefer not to do things by halves. If you fulfill your dream of travelling on the Trans-Siberian Railway, enjoy it and don’t rush things. But it’s up to you, of course. Try playing around with the form a bit to find the appropriate price for your trip.

CHP finally clears pro-Palestinian protesters from I-880 in Oakland; all lanes reopened

By Dave Pehling , Itay Hod

Updated on: April 15, 2024 / 6:54 PM PDT / CBS San Francisco

Authorities were finally able to clear two separate pro-Palestinian protests that closed lanes on I-880 in Oakland in both directions for hours starting Monday morning, according to CHP.

The protest was among multiple demonstrations blocking freeway traffic in the Bay Area, with another group of activists blocking southbound traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge starting at around 8 a.m.  That protest would shut down the entire span.

CHP initially reported an accident at 23rd Ave. at around 6:15 a.m. blocking northbound lanes of the freeway, according to a sig-alert.

A short time later, KCBS Traffic posted on social media that there was additionally a protest in the area that blocked all northbound lanes.

ALL LANES ARE BLOCKED. NO ESTIMATED TIME OF OPENING. There is a protest here. No one is sure what they are protesting, but all lanes are blocked. Reports of barrels, people on lawn chairs sitting between the barrels, all in chains. #KCBSTraffic https://t.co/K98t3TDUif — KCBS Radio - The Traffic Leader (@KCBSAMFMTraffic) April 15, 2024

The protest was in the area of 5th Ave., according to reports.

The post said there were reports of barrels in the roadway as well as people on lawn chairs sitting between the barrels that were all chained together. The post did not indicate what was being protested, but there were reports of a banner being displayed that read "A-15 Economic blockade for a free Palestine."

CHP confirmed there were about 15 protesters blocking northbound 880. Video from the area indicated that southbound lanes were not blocked, though traffic was slowing as cars passed the protest.

CHP and Oakland police officers were at the scene in force to respond to the protest and clear lanes.

As of shortly after 7 a.m., the back-up on I-880 was stretching from Oakland to San Leandro.

Video showed police working to cut through the chains and steel barrels that the protesters were linking arms through so they can safely be removed.

At around 8:15 a.m., another group of protesters blocked the southbound direction of I-880 at 7th Street near the Port of Oakland and Jack London Square. The group of demonstrators on foot at that location grew to approximately 300 over the course of the morning, CHP said later.

The protests also closed all lanes of the eastbound and westbound I-80 connector ramps to southbound I-880 in Oakland.

By 11 a.m., one lane of northbound 880 near the 23rd Avenue protest has reopened and one lane of southbound 880 near the 7th Street protest had reopened.

Shortly before 12 p.m., CHP confirmed that two lanes of traffic in the northbound direction had been reopened hours after the protest started. It was still another 90 minutes before authorities were able to completely reopen the northbound lanes.

UPDATE: Residual Delays on Northbound I-880 South of 5TH Avenue in Oakland. All Lanes Now Open. — 511 SF Bay (@511SFBay) April 15, 2024

At around 12:40 p.m., authorities said one lane of southbound I-880 between 7th and Broadway had reopened.

A short time later, it appeared CHP had cleared the protesters from the southbound lanes of I-880, backing them down onto freeway onramps. CHP did not announced that all southbound lanes of I-880 reopened until around 2:15 p.m. The eastbound and westbound I-80 connector ramps to southbound I-880 were reopened at about 2:40 p.m. A total of five protesters were arrested among the demonstrators who blocked traffic on southbound I-880.

Among those stuck in the backup included Sal Valencia, a construction worker who had been rushing to bring materials to a job in Hayward when he became stuck.

"At the beginning I was kind of afraid, I didn't know what was going on. I was afraid for my life." Valencia said.

He was stuck on the freeway for a total of five hours.

"Basically this is not fair for a lot of people that are going to work, They're trying to make some money and look what happened? This is just, to be honest, ridiculous," Valencia went on to say.

Valencia, who said he has not followed the events in the Middle East, believed that the protesters were not achieving their goals.

"It's not helping. To me, this is not helping," he said.

During an afternoon press conference to address CHP response to the demonstrations, a spokesperson said that the protesters made a coordinated effort with the northbound I-880 blockade, using a truck to transport 55-gallon drums filled with cement, rebar and heavy-duty chains to make it more difficult for law enforcement to remove the activists from the roadway.

The demonstration blocking northbound I-880 near the Embarcadero began at about 6 a.m. CHP were able to initially reopen lanes at 10 a.m. with all lanes reopened by 1:15 p.m. A total of seven protesters were arrested at that location.

The protesters arrested are facing a variety of charges, including unlawful assembly, remaining at an unlawful assembly, refusing to comply with a lawful order, unlawful stopping on a bridge, unlawfully being a pedestrian on a freeway, impeding an officer, conspiracy to commit a crime and false imprisonment.

The actions were planned as part of an "economic blockade" coordinated with similar protests around the world with disruptions happening  in New York and  Chicago . Protesters are hoping to target "the global economy for its complicity in Israel's ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people," organizers under the banner A15Action said.

Back in November, a large group of protesters shut down the westbound Bay Bridge  as President Joe Biden and other world leaders visited the Bay Area for the APEC Summit. Last month, dozens of those protesters were able to reach a deal with a judge to avoid jail time .

A similar protest blocked traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge last February.

According to Bay City News Service, an additional protest is planned for noon at UN Plaza and Market and Hyde streets in San Francisco, by the Group Code Pink. An action by the A15Action group is also planned at 5:30 p.m. at the Tesla factory in Fremont.
