What's New for 2025?

Sprinter updates for 2025 start with a new Hightech Silver finish and extends to a reshuffling of package content and standard and optional features. Tire pressure monitoring is now standard on dual-wheel models, rain-sensing wipers are now standard, and the Comfort Plus package adds a heated steering wheel. The blind-spot monitoring system has the ability to warn drivers of a cyclist to their right when making a right turn, and the 360-degree camera system now also scans the area immediately ahead of the van and warns of a pedestrian or cyclist in that zone when the van first starts moving.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter starts at $53,195 and goes up to $59,295 depending on the trim and options.

It’s difficult to pick an overall favorite as most tradesmen and fleet buyers have a specific idea of what they want and need from a van before they hit the showroom. That said, the crew van serves as a nice middle ground with a second row of seats and windows that still leaves room for plenty of gear. We’d add the Comfort Plus package for its power-adjustable, heated front seats and heated steering wheel. Replacing the standard 7-inch infotainment with the 10.3-inch screen requires the pricey Premium Plus package, but it includes navigation, traffic sign assist, wireless charging, and an acoustic noise reduction package.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Sprinter relies exclusively on diesel power (save for the eSprinter EV , reviewed separately) in two strengths. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel rated for 168 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The optional high-output engine is rated for 208 hp and 332 pound-feet. Both feed a nine-speed automatic transmission; all-wheel drive is available, but only with the high-output engine. While not as potent as the Ford Transit’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 with 310 horses and 400 pound-feet or the 6.6-liter V-8 in the GMC Savana making 401 ponies and 464 pound-feet, the Sprinter's diesels serve dutifully if without any sense of urgency. Though no van boasts razor-sharp handling, the Sprinter's standard load adaptive stability control and available crosswind assist at least help keep it out of trouble in dicey situations.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The 2025 Sprinter can tow up to 7500 pounds when equipped with the high-output diesel, but the standard diesel is good for only 5000 pounds. The Passenger van is also good to tug 5000 pounds, but only in the regular length, 12-passenger version not the 15-passenger spec. The Sprinter's maximum payload is 6812 pounds, but that requires opting for the Cargo van with the high-output engine in its heavy-duty 4500 chassis; the passenger van is rated for 3307 pounds.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

Commercial vehicles with a gross-vehicle-weight rating (GVWR) of more than 8500 pounds are not subject to fuel economy testing by the Environmental Protection Agency. The last Benz van we tested was a 2019 Sprinter 3500XD with a discontinued 188-hp turbodiesel V-6 and seven-speed automatic. During our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test, it managed 15 mpg.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Full-size van interiors have always been spartan from the factory, but the Sprinter offers a modicum of comfort features. The Comfort Package Plus brings several features including sculptured, power-adjustable seats with lumbar support and an overhead control panel, and an available leather covering for the standard tilt steering wheel. There’s also a swivel-seat option with a lower seat base for the front occupants that can aid with ingress and egress. Crucially, the Cargo van offers a maximum of 533 cubic feet of load space; the Crew van can swallow a max of 371 cubes, and even the Passenger van can hold 111 cubes. Speaking of which, the Passenger Van with the 144-inch wheelbase seats 12 comfortably while the 170-inch wheelbase version can fit 15 passengers.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Given the focus on utility, Infotainment and connectivity options in full-size vans typically skew towards simple functionality rather than stunning gee-whiz presentation. Fittingly, the standard audio system is a basic AM/FM radio with a tiny LCD screen, Bluetooth, and a single USB-C port. The Premium package includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen and, somewhat curiously, is bundled with lane-keeping assist and a windshield wiper-washer system that dispenses fluid from the wiper blades rather than spray nozzles. The Premium Plus package steps up to a 10.3-inch screen, adds navigation, a wireless phone-charging tray, Traffic Sign Assist, and additional air vents for the storage area on the instrument panel. Both option packages also include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Mercedes provides the Sprinter with a list of driver-assistance technology , but the majority of systems offered are optional. For more information about the Sprinter's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) websites. Key safety features include:

• Available blind-spot monitor
• Available lane-keeping assist

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Mercedes-Benz's limited warranty on the Sprinter is typical for this class. However, its powertrain coverage is longer than most. Mercedes also doesn't pay for any scheduled maintenance.

Absolutely love the rack. Great views and storage. Took more time to install than some folks on You Tube suggest. Plan a day. Also, grab more lock tight (red). The tube provided with the kit doesn’t work very well. The modular design is WAY more user friendly for a diy install, but lots more screws n pieces (to lock tight).

Very positive experience from start to end. Being a noob, the install took me much longer than I had anticipated, but I was able to complete it, and I could not be happier with how everything turned out. The rack is very high quality and feels rock solid on the van after assembly and installation. I feel very confident in my handiwork, which is pretty huge for an inexperienced builder like myself. It looks great! I've already gotten several compliments from family and neighbors. Excellent customer service. I thought I had been shorted some hardware and the FVC representative I corresponded with was helpful, professional, and patient. Eventually I realized that my issue was user error (the "missing" hardware was tucked away in a separate box) so things self resolved, but I am still very happy with my interaction with customer support. I highly recommend FVC and plan to purchase more components from them as my build progresses!

Great rack! After debating on several racks Im very happy I chose the Safari rack from FVC. Because I've purchased other products from FVC I was confident the rack would be a quality product. They ship immediately and so far, you can't go wrong with their products. You can install the safari rack on your own as I did (although it would be easier/quicker if you had a helper), the directions are very strait forward and none of the individual pieces are to heavy for one person to handle.The end result is a great looking, sturdy, platform on the top of your van. I purchased a drop down front so it would be easier to load my kayak. I've found there is no additional wind noise at speeds up to 70 mph. If you are on the fence on which rack to buy, you won't be disappointed with this one. Overall, super satisfied with the rack!

Sensitive Information

Generally we do not collect sensitive information.  However, we may collect sensitive information about you (for example, health information and criminal record checks if you are applying for a job with us), if we have your express consent (such as for the purpose of confirming your identity) or if the collection is required or authorised by law.

2.  PURPOSE OF COLLECTION, USE AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

2.3 Cross border disclosure

In the ordinary course of our day to day business activities and those of our related and associated entities and service providers, your personal information may be transferred, accessed, processed and/or stored in various countries which include but are not limited to, the European Union (most notably Germany), the USA, Mexico Singapore, India, Philippines, Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, China, Malaysia, United Kingdom and Japan.

Where we arrange for work or services to be undertaken on our behalf, that work is undertaken under conditions of confidentiality and may result in your personal information being transferred, accessed, processed and/or stored (for example, on clouds or servers) in various countries for the purpose of service delivery to us or you.

Unless an exception applies in the Privacy Act, prior to disclosing personal information to overseas recipients we will take reasonable steps in the circumstances to ensure that the overseas recipient adheres to the APPs.

Overseas organisations may be required to disclose information we share with them under a foreign law. In those instances, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be responsible for that disclosure.

Direct marketing involves us communicating directly with you to promote the sale of our goods and services. We do not actively market to children or knowingly collect personal information about children without parental consent. Where we electronically communicate with you (e.g. by instant messaging, SMS/IM/MMS, and other mobile phone messaging (but excluding voice to voice communications)) for the purpose(s) mentioned above, we comply with the  Spam Act 2003  (Cth) as amended from time to time. We take steps to ensure that our electronic communications meet the following conditions, they:

• will only be sent with your consent, which you either provide expressly, or in very limited circumstances, that consent is inferred by your conduct or an existing ongoing business relationship;
• contain accurate information about us and how to contact us; and
• contain a functional unsubscribe facility to allow you to opt out of receiving electronic messages from us in the future.

2.4.2  Do Not Call Register Act 2006  (Cth)

The  Do Not Call Register Act 2006  (Cth) allows telephone numbers to be registered if they are used primarily for domestic or private purposes in order to allow you to opt out of receiving most telemarketing calls or marketing faxes. MBAuP follows the Mercedes-Benz Group global policies, guidelines and standards to secure your information.  We continually train and remind our staff of the importance of keeping information safe and secure.

We have adopted active security measures to ensure that your personal information is kept safe from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, disclosure and modification, such as:

For the credit decision making and portfolio risk steering, the aforementioned data is processed with the customer name and application number. For what purpose and on what legal basis is the data processed? Data processing by MBM as the responsible party in the Mercedes-Benz group for steering all companies worldwide belonging to the segment “Mercedes-Benz Mobility” for Risk Management, Portfolio Risk Steering and as far as the credit request exceeds the credit decision competence of MBFSAu for the Credit Decision  is based on a legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR in conjunction with §§ 91 II and III, 93 I German Stock Corporation Act . Information on the role of MBM and MBFSAu for the data processing can be found under “Who is responsible for processing my personal data, and who can I contact on the topic of data protection?” The purpose of those Risk Management processes is to use the data in order to create risk models, perform various analysis, make risk situation transparent and steer the MBM. Such processing includes, but is not limited to:

• Development of risk instruments that are used to determine customer creditworthiness, and thereby minimize the financial risk through an appropriate credit decision
• Calibration of risk provisioning parameter and monthly provisioning calculation as a requirement under the accounting standard IFRS9
• Planning activities with regards to forecasting as well as simulations of developments
• Risk steering of the MBM company which includes: calibration of risk parameter, economic capital calculation, risk adjusted profitability steering,  monitoring and reporting to steer and control credit risks, assure quality of credit applications and to analyze the credit portfolio
• Reporting, e.g.  monitoring the development of number of sales as well as  financing and leasing contracts per vehicle model, monitoring of profitability,  monitoring of the share of “green financing” (electric vehicles), monitoring the development of risk KPIs such as delinquencies, credit losses, provisions, quality of the acquisitions, monitoring the performance of the different risk models, etc.
• Market risk analysis especially interest rate and liquidity risk management  for the purposes of asset and liability management
• Internal or external audit activities
• Performance of Credit Decision: MBFSAu processes as Data Controller your data for the performance of Credit Decision within its credit decision competence, whereas MBM provides as service provider the IT infrastructure and processes the data as Data Processor on behalf of MBFSAu . As far as the credit request exceeds the credit decision competence of MBFSAu it and MBM process as Joint Controller your data for the performance of Credit Decision.

The data is used for the calibration of risk provisioning parameters, monthly calculation of provisions and risk KPIs, forecasting the cost of credit risk as part of the plan-is comparison processes, economic capital parameter calibration and calculation, risk adjusted profitability steering, creation of various reports and dashboards and market risk analysis, such as interest rate and liquidity risk management. DMO AG builds precise risk models, makes risk situation transparent, gains specific knowledge about its portfolio, steers the company and perform efficient risk management so that the management can protect the economic interests of MBM. Will my data be shared? For the purposes of performing the different Risk Management activities mentioned above, the personal data processed is provided by MBFSAu to MBM. Auditors and IT suppliers have in certain cases also an access to the personal data. Since MBM provides as Data Processor the IT infrastructure MBFSAu, the data processed within the Performance of Credit Decision and Portfolio Risk Steering is internally shared with MBM Credit Management Europe Department, MBM Risk Management Department, MBM Regional Credit Committee Europe, MBM BoM. For the purposes of the credit check, data on creditworthiness is requested from the credit agencies. As part of the data request, customer data (such as name, commercial register no.) is provided to the credit agencies. As part of the processing, we use contractually obliged service providers, e.g. for the hosting of the data. In such cases, personal data is passed on to these processors. These processors are carefully selected and regularly reviewed by us to ensure that your privacy is protected. The processors may only use the data for the purposes specified by us and are also contractually obligated by us to treat your data exclusively in accordance with this privacy policy and the applicable data protection laws. Will my data be sent to a third country or an international organization? Your personal data might be transferred to and processed by MBM, its affiliates (i.e. any member of the Mercedes-Benz Group companies) and appointed 3 rd parties both inside and outside the MBFSAu. How long will my data be stored? The personal data used for the aforementioned risk management and credit decision processes is stored as long as the legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR persists. The legitimate interest ends when the contractual agreement between the data subject and the market ends. Four exceptions apply here:

• Retention period is prolonged if outstanding payments are expected from the customer for example if the customer is involved in collection processes and the vehicle(s) have to be repossessed or they are stolen, etc.
• In accordance with the local legal regulations, booking relevant data is kept up to 10 years
• For the purposes of development and reporting, the data from credit checks is processed and joined with information on your payment history. In case no contract comes into force, data is an anonymized upon cancellation of your application.
• For the credit decision, data retention will be handled in accordance with the local legally regulations, which is seven years.

Upon expiry of the retention period, the personal data will be anonymized/deleted and hence it will not be possible anymore to trace back to the original customer. What rights do I have with MBFSAu or MBM? According to EU GDPR, you have extensive rights regarding the processing of your personal data. Making you aware of these rights is very important to us:

• Right of access: You can request access to your personal data processed by us (Article 15 GDPR).
• Right to correction of inaccurate data: You have a right to demand from us the immediate correction of your personal data, should it be inaccurate (Article 16 GDPR).
• Right to deletion: You have the right to demand that we delete your personal data. The criteria allow you to demand the deletion of your personal data if we, for instance, no longer need the personal data for the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise processed, if we unlawfully process the data, or if you have rightfully objected to the use of your data, revoked your consent to the same or there is a legal obligation to delete (Article 17 GDPR).
• Right to restriction of processing: You have the right to demand a restriction of the processing of your data. Russia and Moscow are synonymous with Red Square and the Kremlin and that's hardly surprising as you'll find these places absolutely stunning!

• - Walk-through the Resurrection Gate and don’t forget to flip a coin so you’ll be sure to come back one day!
• - Visit the world's famous Kazan Cathedral .
• - See the State Department Store (GUM), once the Upper Trading Stalls, which were built over a century ago and still operating!
• - Admire the lovely St. Basil's Cathedral! The French diplomat Marquis de Custine commented that it combined "the scales of a golden fish, the enamelled skin of a serpent, the changeful hues of the lizard, the glossy rose and azure of the pigeon's neck" and wondered at "the men who go to worship God in this box of confectionery work".
• - Walk by Lobnoye Mesto (literally meaning "Execution Place", or "Place of Skulls"), once Ivan the Terrible's stage for religious ceremonies, speeches, and important events.
• - Entering the Alexander Garden , you’ll take in spectacular views of Russian architecture from ancient to Soviet times, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame. Watch Changing of the Guard Ceremony every hour in summer and every half an hour in winter.

Kitai-gorod:

Stroll along medieval Kitai-gorod with its strong ancient Russia feel, known for its bohemian lifestyle, markets and arts.

• - Nikolskaya Street. Here you will find the Russia's first publishing house, the second oldest monastery, and Ferryn Pharmacy, known as the number one pharmacy back in Soviet times and famous for its Empire-style architecture.
• - Ilinka Street. The financial street of the Kitaigorod (China Town) district, where you’ll find the Gostiny Dvor (Merchant’s Yard), which is now a showroom for Ferraris and Maseratis. The street was designed in the 1790s by Catherine the Great.
• - Varvarka street. The oldest street in Moscow, which dates back to the 14th century, and still has remnants of early Muscovite architecture, such as the Old English Court and the Palace of the Romanov’s.
• - Kamergersky Lane. Only a small road of about 250 meters, it is home to some of the oldest artifacts of the city, as each building holds a fascinating story. Some of Russia's most famous writers, poets, and composers from as far back as the Golden Age of Russian culture, have lived or worked on this lane.

Historic City Center

Walk the historical old center of Moscow with its cool local vibe, including the main Tverskaya street , and indulge in desserts in the first grocery “Eliseev's store” , housed in an 18th century neoclassical building, famous for its baroque interior and decoration.

From our tour. Impressions of our American tourist:

At 3:30, as energy flagged, lunch was on the agenda at a Ukrainian restaurant.  Just in time!  We asked our guide to order for us.  We all had the same thing....borscht (the Ukrainian version has beans and more tomatoes than the Russian version, which has more beets and includes beef). 

The special high bread served is called galushki.  Our main course was golubtsy...a dish of minced meat rolled in braised cabbage leaves.  Both dishes called for optional sour cream as a topping....of course, yes, please....I recommend it. 

Full, satisfied, and completely refreshed, it was off to Red Square and St. Basil's and GUM department store.  Red Square is not so named because of the color of the brick walls of the Kremlin.  Rather the word for 'red' and the word for 'beautiful' are similar in pronunciation....and, there you have it. 

As we made the turn by the National Museum in front of which is the mounted sculpture of the "Marshall of Victory," Giorgy Zhukov from WWII and caught our first view of St. Basil's, my friend and I simultaneously emitted "Oooohhhhh!"  There it was....the iconic onion domes of St. Basil's!  Hooray....it was open until 7....we had about 30 minutes and were allowed in, AND we could take photos with no flash. 

Now, I can give you a taste of what we saw in the other cathedrals in Cathedral Square.  What we learned is that St. Vasily and St. Basil are one in the same....Russian/English.  He was a common man who wandered Moscow unclothed and barefoot.  But, all, even Ivan the Terrible, heeded his opinions derived from his visions.  Ivan had this cathedral built over his tomb. 

As we exited and took photos up close of the onion domes, Inna presented us with chocolate (how did she know we were ready for another energy boost, and we each got a big piece of chocolate.  The baby's name pictured on the wrapper of this famous Russian chocolate is Alyonka....the Russian Gerber baby, don't you think? 

One could wear out the credit card in GUM's (capitalized because it is actually a government abbreviation), but the 'kitty' and my credit card stayed in my pocket as we strolled through the glass-topped arcade. 

We then strolled through some of Moscow's lovely pedestrian streets; paused to listen as a wonderful quartet performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" in an underground passage to cross the busy street (hooray!....we DID have our 'classical concert' experience after all; a request Alina tried in vain to fill because none was scheduled those days), saw the Bolshoi, which means 'big' (my friend has yet to recover that their performance schedule did not coincide with our cruise), saw the Central Telegraph Building, dating from the 1930's, and made our way to the Ritz-Carlton to see the night view of Moscow from the rooftop bar, called O2. 

There were fleece blankets to wrap yourself in....yes, it got that cold when the sun set.  We each ordered something hot to drink...the ginger, mint, lemon tea served to me in a parfait glass (for 600 rubles...about $9....you pay for the view here!) was delightful and hit the spot perfectly.  It was time to call it a night....
