Uluru, Outback and Red Centre
Taste the red dust of australia's red centre visiting uluru, kata tjuta, kings canyon and alice springs.
Highlighting the very best of what the ‘outback’ has on offer, this tour takes in the most iconic and memorable parts of Central Australia. Riders travel via Port Augusta and on to Coober Pedy with its underground mining and unique accommodation. From there, on a long haul day, we’ll reach Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Here you’ll be enthralled by the vastness of the outback, the panoramic views, the colours, and the colourful and artistic locals. Other activities include camel tours, brilliant sunrise and sunset tours, Aboriginal talks, Sounds of Silence dinner, Field of Lights and lots of walking if you feel like it.
The weather is ideal from March to June and September to November, making it easier and safer to do some walking. At this time of year, the colours of ‘the rock’ are most vibrant and you’re more likely to see the hidden surprises of Uluru, like waterfalls, flowers, reptiles and various other animals.
Two days later we’ll head to the dramatic Kings Canyon. Bring your hiking boots, climb to the rim and take in a vista so grand it will take your breath away (if the walk hasn't already).
Next it’s off to Alice Springs. This is a real eye-opener of a town in the middle of nowhere and well worth exploring the local pubs with their laconic Australian ‘locals’.
On the way back to Sydney we’ll visit Broken Hill. An outback city with so much to see and do we’ll need two days there to see it all. Mad Max and Pricilla Queen of the Desert were both filmed out here. There’s the Royal Flying Doctors and School of the Air to visit as well as Silverton, Mundi Mundi Plains, the Sculpture Park at sunset, and the Living Desert. There’s also mining exhibits, Aboriginal artworks as well as many iconic pubs and interesting locals you'll get the opportunity to have a ‘yarn’ with.
See just how epic this outback adventure truly is here on google maps .
This tour averages 520km a day on ride days.

"See Australia's most iconic landmarks all whilst riding through epic and challenging landscapes!"
Book the trip of a lifetime!
Let us take you along some not-so-beaten dirt bike tracks to experience the Red Centre’s most iconic landmarks on our scenic 6 day all-inclusive ‘The Rock’ tour.
After your first night staying in quality town accommodation, our package has you departing Alice Springs via the (in)famous Finke Desert Race Track, enjoying lunch at stunning Etikaura/Idracowra (Chambers Pillar) and ending day one by camping under the stars along the banks of the world’s oldest river, the Finke.
Onwards we’ll take you through desert oak country, on tracks reserved just for our use, with a jam-packed multi-terrain ride to Mulga Park Station, where views of majestic Mount Connor at sunset will take your breath away.
Arriving at the time-worn landmark of Uluru (Ayers Rock) we’ll set you up in a ‘glamping’ tent for the night, where you can spend the rest of the day relaxing or sight-seeing to your hearts content. Take a ride out to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) or take in some local indigenous culture at the town-centre, Yulara. Our special sunset viewing platform of ‘the rock’ will leave you in awe, and after a lazy wander back to the well-equipped camp you’ll find our private fire pit in action where you can share stories of your day.
Having seen these natural wonders at ground level, the following morning you’ll be whisked away on a private charter flight you’ll never forget. For 2+ hours, you’ll fly over landmarks such as Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Watarrka (Kings Canyon), Pantu (Lake Amadeus) and take in views only a select few get to experience.
After landing at Kings Creek Station, you’ll be transferred to our camp where your crew, support vehicles and bike will be waiting. Once reunited with your bike, continue the scenic adventure by heading to Watarrka National Park, taking on the challenge of the Rim Walk, or a stroll up the centre of the Canyon on the Kings Creek walk. Alternatively, spend the afternoon relaxing at camp in readiness for the following days’ ride.
Perhaps the most spectacular scenery in the NT awaits on day five as we guide you through the Finke Gorge National Park, through Boggy Hole to our final camp beneath the ancient sculptured walls lining Ellery Creek. Here you’ll marvel at the beach-like terrain while spotting local wildlife such as dingoes, horses and birds of prey, and tell tall tales of the week gone by around a roaring fire.
The final days’ ride takes us east towards Alice, along rugged and remote tracks, through the community of Wallace Rockhole and lunch at the ruins of the first Homestead ever established in the Northern Territory at Owen Springs Reserve. As you pull back into headquarters later in the day, perhaps a little tired and muscle-weary, the sights and stories gathered over the week will stay with you for a lifetime.
While accommodation in town is included at either side of the trip, you’ll love our billion-star accommodation on tour, with quality camping gear, hot shower, camp loo, hearty meals, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, roaring campfires and every creature comfort available to keep you happy and safe out in the desert. Along with riding a new-season bike, you’ll have full mechanical support, spares, fuel and riding tips all part of the on-road package.
Do you have a friend or partner who doesn’t ride? Book them a seat in one of our support vehicles and you can experience the tour together where everything except the bike is part of the package!
This is a truly exceptional way to see some ancient and iconic landmarks, from both the ground and the air, tick off the bucket list, and join a group of like-minded riders with everything you need provided – simply ride & relax.

Day Before Riders team meeting at 4pm day before departure at our predetermined motel, safety talk and next day’s travel plan.
Day one 330km Depart Alice Springs at 8:30am An easy run down the Maryvale Rd for smoko at Rodinga Sliding, the old Ghan train line ruins. You will have the chance to ride on the famous Finke desert race track after Rodinga Sliding. We will regroup at the second Finke race day fuel stop to see how everyone is going and be mindful of the 12:00 turnaround time rule for track direction. Riding on the Finke desert race track is a reality checker for first timers, you probably won’t last too long on the track as it is rather brutal, energy sapping and requires a certain skill level but it will sure give you an insight what the race is all about and why it is considered so tough of an event! After Bundooma water tower everyone will be back on the Finke service Rd, from here on the road to Finke can get quite rough, a real car breaker. Lunch hopefully will be at the Finke Start/Finish tower baring any mishap. After lunch hopefully an easy run into Mt Dare Station with a couple pioneering points of interest along the way to have a look at. Dinner will be at Mt Dare in the restaurant. There are bush showers and toilets at Mt Dare Station.
Day two 180km This day is all about checking out pioneering history of the early settlers of remnants left behind and having a little ponder on how tough these guys were to come out to isolated areas with very basic and primitive transport. The roads that you will be riding will a mixture of corrugated dirt and some light sandy sections but nothing too hard. Our goal is to reach the very impressive Dalhousie hot springs were will make camp for the evening and unwind in the warm waters of the hot springs and hopefully the cook will cook up something nice!
Day three 180km The days riding will encompass sandy sections of road for the first half. We will be checking out the best settlers ruins in the area considered by most, Dalhousie ruins great pioneering stone work and what is left of the old stock yards. We will have smoko on the Old Ghan railway sliding Pedirka. The later part of day will see you ride south towards Oodnadatta which is basically an aboriginal town one of the better ones and is famous for the Pink Road House, famous around the world and a must to have your picture taken out the front. We will be camping and having dinner at the Pink Road House, a little latter on wonder down the street to the Transcontinental Hotel for a couple of drinks.
Day four 390km Before we leave Oodnadatta it has a great museum which we will check out before we ride out of town. We will be riding on well-maintained remote dirt roads up until lunch and if we are lucky have a road train come past us creating a huge dust cloud, great for a camera shot if you can get it. Lunch will somewhere on the side of the track. The later part of the day will see make our way onto the Stuart HWY with a transport section of 179km which will break up into two rest stop. We will stop off at the Northern Territory/ South Australian border for a mandatory picture with the monument before heading down the road to Kulgera for our final stop of the day, you will be tired as it will be a long day. Dinner will be at the Kulgera road house and you never know what entertainment awaits out the front! Hopefully we will be there in time for happy hour where you can mingle with other tourist over a nice cold beer. Later on in the evening where we will have a fire going at camp so you can in enjoy your cold drinks and we might even pull out our trump card with some lovely dessert for you.
Day five 300km Day 5 is a beautiful ride on real deep red desert sandy roads, where your bike will be following the gentle sandy corner watching scenery go by. The road is not very touristy with limited traffic use. The first big stature you will see is Foolaroo (Mt Coner) which most people think that is Uluru but it is not. After lunch we will get back onto the main road heading into Uluru, this brings us back into the fast pass of the modern world again. We will have a couple of nice little rest stop on our way and then finally get a glimps of Uluru (Ayres Rock) and our goal is to make to the sunset viewing area to watch the sun set over Uluru, it is well worth it. We will head back to Yulara resort for the evening, get checked into our Hotel and enjoy our evening meal.
Day six 40km The day starts off with breakfast at Yulara resort, then once satisfied we ride our bikes to Uluru some 20km away to get a closer view of this majestic piece of rock. It is a once in a life time thing and you won’t be disappointed.
Tour Summury This ride is for the not so experience enduro rider wanting to experience remote Australian outback riding in the heart of central Australia with the ultimate journey starting in Alice Springs and finishing at the majestic Uluru. You have peace of mind knowing that you have a fully equipped support vehicle behind you during this tour. Total kilometers traveled 1420km

Rising up from the silent desert floor like a gargantuan monolith, ochre-hued Uluru is one of the world’s most bewitching sights – more so, as its colour and appearance constantly change depending on the season and time of day.
Formed more than 600 million years ago, and reaching a height of 348 metres, it overlooks wild and desolate desert landscapes, home for millennia to the Aboriginal people. The area is steeped in their legends and traditions; combined with the scenery, Uluru has an intense, unforgettable atmosphere. The thing has presence .
Climbing Uluru was banned in 2019, but there are still myriad ways to see and experience Australia’s most sacred site. Walking trails encircle the rock allowing you to get close to see the many fissures, gorges and galleries in to the sandstone, some containing centuries-old rock art, whilst learning about its mysteries and legends from local Aboriginal guides.
Those looking for a speedier or less strenuous introduction can opt for a Segway tour or a camel tour. Meanwhile, helicopter and scenic flights are the best way to truly appreciate the scale and strangeness of this geological anomaly sticking out from miles of flat landscape.

Getting there & doing it
Since ‘The Rock’ is located inside a national park, it’s entirely feasible to explore independently, but guided tours offer a much richer insight into the local legends and culture of the Aboriginal people and will take you to interesting places you won’t discover on your own.
Anyone staying at the nearby town of Yulara will find a dazzling variety of tours and cultural experiences available. All tours can be booked through Ayers Rock Resort and its associated properties.
When to do it
Dawn and sunset are the best times to see The Rock, the latter being particularly spectacular. Uluru absorbs heat during the day and seems to glow as the sky darkens.
Winter (June to August) is the ideal time to be in the desert. This is also the busiest time of the year, so spring and autumn can work well too.
Desert summers (December to March) are notoriously hot and when the air is filled with relentless swarms of annoying flies (though you can buy the classic hat with accompanying fly net to keep them off your face). On the plus side, it’s less crowded and rainfall over Uluru is spectacular.
