The weather is one factor which can make or break a Perth fishing charter. We have a strict policy of not taking clients on fishing excursions if the weather conditions are not safe. To that end, we constantly monitor weather conditions and confirm all departures 12 hours prior to your scheduled departure.

In the unfortunate event that we must cancel your charter because of poor or dangerous weather conditions we will reschedule your excursion free of charge. Because of this, please be sure you have confirmed your charter before coming to the dock.

There is no reason to be fretful about the new Recreational Fishing Boat License requirement; all of the paying customers on board a licensed fishing boat are exempt from the recent RFBL. There is also no need to be concerned about the fishing regulations; we take the guesswork out of which fish are keepers and which fish need to go back in the water.

Why Not Take A Sunset Perth Fishing Charter?

For this shorter outing, we don’t venture out quite as far as we do for the standard charter; we anchor over areas with rough ground. This gives you a chance to find some different varieties of fish, and if you are unsure about your sea legs, this smoother and shorter trip is a great way to try out a fishing charter before proper game fishing.

We depart at 6:00pm and return shortly after you have experienced the most beautiful sunset you have ever seen. While on board, cast a line, enjoy the view, help yourself to an ice-cold beer or soft drink, and choose from an array of freshly made sandwiches, salads, and snacks.

Group Fishing Trips

Our Standard WA Charter

Although our tours leave from a variety of locations throughout Western Australia (and therefore the specifies of fish differ), on our standard charters we are on the lookout for species such as dhufish, pink snapper, red snapper, breaksea cod, samson, King George whiting, marlin and baldchin groper.

However, if there is a special fish you have your sights set on (maybe the one that got away) let us know when you book your charter fishing Perth or WA tour and our skipper can get you where you need to go.

On our daylong charters, we depart at 6:00 am and return around 4:00pm. We fish in depths between 45 to 200 metres so you can look forward to an authentic deep sea fishing charter experience.

Once underway there are a few options depending on what you would like; we can troll to catch the surface fish, drift, or go jigging for the likes of Amberjack and Samson fish. If you prefer, a combination of all is also an option. We like to start your day off right so once you are aboard we provide hot beverages, juice, fruit, and biscuits. At noontime, we provide you with a delicious feed.

​ Bottled water and soft drinks are available throughout your day.

Below deck, we have facilities for men and women along with a lounge area with plush seating and bar area. On deck, we have tables covered by overhead canopies for protection from the elements. As you know the Country is dealing with the Coronavirus and Sole-Man fishing is too. We are keeping the boat deep cleaned, and CAN fish, however we are gonna respect the CDC recommendations on distance.

Captain Don Franklin, operates, one of the finest, best equipped Fishing Charter Boats in Fisherman’s Wharf, in San Francisco. When fishing with Sole-Man you will be able to experience some of the finest Salmon, Halibut, Rockfish, Sturgeon, and Shark fishing anywhere! ​Our Golden Gate caught Salmon , are some of the finest King Salmon anywhere in the world. Our size ratio is FANTASTIC. We get some Hogs out in the Pacific, but also late in the year, we get Big River Run Hogs, right here in San Francisco Bay! The feed that the Salmon have here around the Golden Gate is some of the richest anywhere. They love to eat Krill, which is very plentiful here, as well as there being plenty of Herring, Anchovies, and Sardines. Simply put, That’s why our Salmon are the BEST! We also fish Rockcod (Rockfish) where you can load up on multiple species of Cod, some of the best eating fish there is! Hog Halibut and Big Stripers (Striped Bass) are also caught through the spring, summer, and early autumn. They are a great challenge to catch, and taste great too! Great White Sturgeon are caught in San Francisco Bay year-round as well. These pre-historic fish affectionately known as ‘Diamond-Backs’ are some of the largest (and rarest) game fish you can catch! Oversize Sturgeon (over 66″ in overall length) are routinely caught. Although Captain Don is a master at catching all these fish, he is particularly passionate about Shark fishing. San Francisco Bay has one of the greatest abundances and varieties of Sharks in the world. Leopard Sharks, Soupfin Sharks, Sevengill Sharks, Sixgill Sharks, Blue Sharks, and Smoothhound Sharks are readily caught in San Francisco Bay.

Full Day Private Charter

This is our Summer mainstay fishing trip. This trip will depart at 6am and fish for 10 hours returning between 3pm-5pm in the afternoon. This allows for ample time to limit on Halibut, Striped Bass, Salmon, Rockcod and more.

Full Day Shared Charter

This trip is a way for smaller groups of 2-4 people who would like to avoid big groups and split the cost of a private charter. This trip will depart at 6am and fish for 10 hours returning between 3pm-5pm in the afternoon. This allows for ample time to limit on Halibut, Striped Bass, Salmon, Rockcod and more.

Half Day Private Charter

Half day private charters are great for families or groups of friends that do not have a full day to fish. We can still fish Halibut, Striped bass, Rockcod and ​Shark. We will be back to dock between 11:30am-12:30pm to allow for your afternoon adventures.

Half Day Shared Charter

This trip is a way for smaller groups of 2-4 people who would like to avoid big groups and split the cost of a private charter. We will still fish Halibut, Striped bass, Rockcod and ​Shark. We will be back to dock between 11:30am-12:30pm to allow for your afternoon adventures.

If you want to see how good Captain Don is with kids, watch him in action as he teaches the fishing tradition to new generations each year. The Department of Parks and Recreation put on a Fishing Camp for youth onboard Sole-Man Sportfishing. Youth get to experience different aspects of fishing. The children participating get to fish from a pier and fish from a boat (Sole-Man). The Fishing Camp goes over the basics of fishing and types of fish caught in San Francisco Bay and reviews different kinds of equipment used to fish.

About Our Shark Fishing Trips

This is a specific type of trip with typically one thing on the agenda…. SHARKS!!!!!!! Although we may spend time to catch a few fish for dinner, the majority of the time will be spent looking for, and ideally catching lots of sharks along the beachfront and nearshore waters of Galveston. 

Shark fishing in Galveston is typically good in late spring to late summer, May-September. The best time of the year is definitely in late july to the middle of September! That’s when they are most abundant and plentiful around Galveston. Also when we have the chance at catching a big shark too!!!

Sharks can be caught on a variety of different live and dead baits, drifting and bottom fishing. They’re hard fighting and really fun to catch, although we don’t particularly like to keep them since they’re not great to eat. However, there are plenty of people out there that really enjoy eating shark, and we do allow legal sharks to be kept as long as it will be eaten and not wasted. As long as it is a legal species to harvest

We offer morning and afternoon half-day 5 hour trips for shark fishing in Galveston for up to 6 people per boat, and often have great catches from both trips as well. So don’t worry if the morning isn’t available for the date you had in mind. This also allows you to sleep in and relax for the morning or enjoy a great afternoon on the beach in Galveston after your fishing trip too. Our online bookings have availability for trips in real-time as well, we recommend booking ahead to ensure your preferred date.

If this is your first shark fishing experience; don’t worry, free fishing lessons are included!!!

We also provide all of the rods and reels, fishing tackle and bait for the trip, there’s no fuel surcharge, and we also include fish cleaning! All you’ll need are snacks, drinks (no glass), and a fishing license. We have a cooler on board (with cold beer!!!) to put drinks and snacks in, but feel free to bring your cooler as well. Remember that your captain and crew work hard to ensure that you have a great experience on your deep sea fishing experience, you can show them your appreciation with a 15-20% tip and a 5-star review online. Both are greatly appreciated.

This trip is usually fishing within 20 miles of Galveston. Common species can also include king mackerel, spanish mackerel, red drum, cobia, tripletail, and others. The length of the trip is measured from dock to dock and starts at the scheduled time for the trip. We try our best to stay on time, as there are often multiple groups scheduled during the day to go fishing.

FAQs About Galveston Shark Fishing

Honestly. If the fishing wasn’t good, we wouldn’t offer the trip. It often depends more on the weather conditions than the time of day. We can’t control the weather, but we spend enough time on the water to find fish nearly every trip of the year. There’s an average of 1 trip in every 150-200 that doesn’t catch some fish, so the odds are in our favor.

We only offer private charters for up to 6 people. Our pricing is per trip, not per person. All of our Galveston Fishing trips are the same price for 1-6 people. Since the input costs for the trip don’t really change depending on the number of people— neither do our prices. We offer a simple, straight forward price for the trip.

Yes, anyone over the age of 17 is required by law to have a valid Texas saltwater fishing license. There are a number of options for licenses available, but we recommend a one-day license for most cases. You can purchase the licenses online or in person at Academy, Wal-Mart, or most any sporting goods store. Make sure when you purchase the license, it does include the oversized red drum tag on the license for any inshore or nearshore trip if you would like to keep a big Redfish on the trip.

We provide all the rods and reels, tackle and bait for the trip. Fuel is also included in the price of the trip. We are happy to provide fish cleaning services as well, especially with a generous gratuity of 15-25% for your trip.

What to expect.

Upon your arrival to our private marina, your captain will meet you inside or on our covered porch and will offer you a coffee to wake you up and the restroom before you depart. They will have the boat gassed up and stocked with water, fishing gear, and bait. This ensures that your entire 4, 6, or 8 hour charter will be non-stop fun!

 You will enjoy an action-packed day with your captain as they put you on the fish and take tons of pictures so you can remember this day for a lifetime! After an amazing fun-filled day on the water, your captain will bring you back to the dock where they will filet all of the keeper fish you caught. They can even recommend a few restaurants that will cook your catch for lunch or dinner!

We offer sightseeing and fishing charters in Shark Bay 7 days a week. Private and normal Charters available up to 10 people, We offer a variety of tours from a Day on the Bay which includes a variety of exciting water activities, marine life and landscapes or a full day experience to explore Shark Bay and it’s landscapes from the water. If world-class fishing is what you;re after then we have full day Fishing Off-Shore or half day options fishing 20 nautical miles off Steep Point in 80 metres of pristine water. We also offer a sunset fishing option which includes the perfect backdrop: a guaranteed sunset to end the day in style! Shark Bay is a World Heritage site and contains an abundance of phenomenal marine life. We guarantee you’ll leave having a better appreciation for everything you experience. All Shark Bay Charter tours depart from the Denham Commercial Jetty.

Cancellation Policy

We understand plans can change, so here are our conditions and policies

Charter – Any hired use for a function of any description held onboard any vessel owned or supplied by SHARK BAY CHARTERS SBC SHARK BAY CHARTERS Charter Organiser – the hirer of the vessel, the person/s responsible for the final payment and conduct of the charter. Vessel Master – An employee or representative of SBC employed as the person in control of the vessel for any charter, identified to all passengers during the induction to all on board. Crew – An employee or representative of SBC employed as deck crew for any charter, identified to all passengers during the induction to all on board. CHARTER TERMS Any charter booked direct or through a booking agent on board a SBC vessel will only be confirmed after receipt by SBC of a deposit as described in Payment and booking terms. At this time details of the person/s responsible for the final payment of the charter must be supplied to SBC and they will be considered to be the charter organiser. SBC reserves the right to terminate any charter without compensation or consultation under the following circumstances: Any member of the crew observes underage drinking Any member of the crew observes excessive alcohol consumption by any passengers Passengers behave in an antisocial or threatening manner toward any person on board the vessel, any crew member or any member of the public who has cause to be in contact with the passengers at any time prior to or during the charter. Passengers behave in a manner as assessed by any member of the crew which is deemed dangerous to them selves or any other person. 2. Passengers behave in a manner likely to damage or risk damage to the vessel, facilities & equipment on board. Also if any member of the crew observes any intended passengers causing damage to any facilities at any of the public or private berthing facilities prior to the commencement of the charter that person may be denied access to the vessel. o Passengers behave in any manner contrary to the instructions given by the crew during the induction at the commencement of the charter. o Any member of the crew witnesses or suspects any passenger/s of the abuse of illicit or prescription medications. o Any passenger fails to abide by the Terms and Conditions as printed and enforced by SBC Management, crew or representative. If any of the above situations occur the action taken will be at the discretion of the master of the vessel. Any of the above may result in some or all of the passengers being removed from the vessel. The location of disembarkation in any of these circumstances may not be the original planned point. It will be the nearest jetty to the vessel at the time of the occurrence.  Any damage caused during any charter to the vessel, its fixtures, appliances or any other equipment on board by the charter organiser or any of the passengers on board during their charter will be the responsibility of the charter organiser and SBC will seek restitution for those damages.  SBC accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of any personal belongings of any passenger whilst on board any vessel supplied by TGC. Passengers must accept total responsibility for their own belongings.  Prior to the departure of the vessel from the departure point the master or a member of the crew will deliver an induction which will relate to the rules of the vessel and the safety procedures in an emergency. This should take no longer than 10 minutes with the cooperation of passengers on board. everyone on board is aware of the safety Requirements and rules of the vessel. procedures explained they should see the crew immediately after the conclusion of the induction. The charter organiser and all passengers acknowledge that the Vessel Master has absolute authority over the vessel and any of the equipment belonging to SBC including but not limited to tenders, sporting equipment and catering equipment for the entire duration of the charter. This authority extends to all passengers and crew. The charter organiser and all passengers acknowledge that the Vessel Master may at any time alter the scheduled route, destination or conduct including activities of any charter if it is deemed necessary for any reason pertaining to the safety and welfare of the vessel, the crew, and any person on board. CHARTER TERMS RELATING TO ALCOHOL The management and crew of SBC will always maintain a service and environment that values and adheres to guidelines to minimize the risk of harm through the consumption of alcohol. These guidelines are a combination of those set by the Department of Racing Gaming & Liquor and self imposed guidelines and rules specific to any vessel supplied by SBC for charter by SBC Management. The following apply in relation to the bringing and consumption of alcohol on board any supplied vessel: Any intended passenger who in the opinion of the crew shows any signs of intoxication either from alcohol or any other substance abuse prior to the commencement of a charter will be refused access to board the vessel. Any subsequent attempts of that person or others to argue with the crew may result in the termination of the entire charter. SBC crew members or representatives will not serve alcohol to any passenger. SBC reserves the right to withhold and control the amount of alcohol made available to the passengers for consumption during the charter. Just because it comes on board does not mean that it will be made available and put into the esky. Any withheld alcohol will be returned in sealed containers at the conclusion of the charter. Bottled water will be provided by the SBC. Additional Fresh water is always available free of charge on deck during any charter Any person/s deemed to be intoxicated by the master or crew will be identified to the charter organiser. It will be the responsibility of the organiser to ensure that that person does not consume any more alcohol for the duration of the charter. If this is not complied with the person/s may be removed from the vessel at the nearest jetty. The vessel will only return to the charter once the master is satisfied that that person/s is safe and in the care of a responsible person. Lost charter time will not be made up and the charter will conclude at the scheduled time. If the situation is serious enough the entire charter may be terminated without compensation. Costs associated with removal from the vessel i.e. taxis, public transport are the responsibility of the person/s being removed. If the master or any member of the crew observe anti social or potentially dangerous behaviour by passengers disembarking from other vessels or any other person/s at the point of disembarkation the master may alter the drop off point or wait until the problem has cleared. SBC will not risk our passenger’s safety by dropping them into a dangerous situation or environment nor will we add to the problem. If other arrangements have been made by the charter organiser relating to other activities or transport after the charter TGC accepts no liability for cost incurred by the passengers because of their delay in this situation. SBC will act in a reasonable and responsible manner to try to ensure the safety of our passengers, crew and the general public within the vicinity, within reason. TERMS OF PAYMENT Any charter booking will remain a tentative booking until confirmation is received by SBC. Confirmation must be received within 14 days of the booking and must be accompanied by a deposit of 50 Full payment of the charter is required 14 days prior to the charter date. Any charter will only proceed once full payment has been received. The previous point applies to all charters unless other arrangements have been negotiated by SBC management and the group organiser. All quoted prices are in Australian Dollars and include GST. Payment can be made by Cash, Electronic Funds Transfer or Cheques by prior arrangement with management. A $500 surcharge may apply to Public Holiday bookings. CANCELLATIONS SBC must receive notification of cancellations in writing. The master of the vessel or management reserves the right to cancel any charter due to weather or in any circumstance that the master thinks that the safety of passengers and or the vessel would be at risk prior to the commencement of the charter. If this occurs either a full refund or an alternative date will be arranged with the group organiser. This does not apply if the cancellation is due to the assessment of the intended passengers at the pickup point if they are all intoxicated or deemed disorderly. In this instance no compensation will be offered. If a group organiser wishes to cancel a charter booking once a deposit has been received they may be liable for a % of the full charter cost. % will be calculated on the following guide. - 30 days or more from the booked charter – $500 deposit held - 30 days to 14 days from the booked charter – 50% of the DEPOSIT - 14 days to 7 days from the booked charter – all of the deposit - 7days or less including no shows or cancellation on the day – 100% of the total charter fee. COVID-19 Payments for trips cancelled due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and/or complications are non-refundable. However, SBC will endeavour to book you in for an alternative date. If a date can’t be settled a credit note/voucher will be issued to be used within 2 years of the original booking date. All of the terms and conditions are set by the management of SHARK BAY CHARTERS. Any variations or exemptions from some or all of the conditions will only be accepted on written advice from the management of Top Gun Charters.
