#1 Botswana

Even though many would face some difficulties in locating Malawi on a map, given how tiny it is, the country is home to the world-renowned Lake Malawi National Park. This is practically one-third of the country and is the most biodiverse lake in the world.

Most of the land in Namibia is occupied by the Kalahari and Namib Deserts. Along with that, the country also has 12 national parks and many other areas which are protected. So, if you go there for a safari, you'll have many rich areas to see and explore.

But given all the advantages, it's safe to conclude that South Africa also suffers from over-tourism. I mean, if you have so many great attractions, people will flock towards it. Annually, the country has one million visitors. Its biggest attraction is the Kruger National Park with its enrichment in biodiversity. Visitors there also have the liberty to self-drive, thus, getting a first-person private but superb experience.

Sun City woman killed by elephant in Zambia

A woman, 79, who had Arizona ties was killed after a bull elephant attacked a tour group in Zambia on March 30, according to local outlets.

Rona Wells posted on Facebook saying her mother, Gail Mattson, was on a trip to South Africa with friends and family that she described as a "dream adventure."

Fox 10 reported that Mattson lived part-time in Sun City.

Mattson sustained injuries when an "aggressive" elephant charged a vehicle carrying six guests and a guide in Kafue National Park in Zambia, according to a statement provided to multiple outlets including NBC News   and People . She was among a group staying at the Lufupa Camp and had ventured out for a photography tour.

Zambia is a landlocked country located in southern Africa, bordered by countries including Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.

Another woman who was injured was taken to a private hospital in South Africa, conservation and safari company Wilderness told multiple outlets. Four other people also received treatment for minor injuries.

"The six guests were on the game drive when the vehicle was unexpectedly charged by the bull elephant," Keith Vincent, Wilderness' chief executive officer, said in a statement to ABC News. He added that the safari guide's vehicle was "blocked" by the terrain at the time of the attack.

Mattson's body will be returned to her family in the U.S., Wilderness said in a statement to media.

Israel blames Gaza starvation on U.N. as UNICEF says a third of Gazan infants and toddlers acutely malnourished

Tel Aviv — Under pressure from the U.S. and other allies to flood the Gaza Strip with humanitarian aid, Israel insists it's doing everything it can, and it blames the United Nations for the starvation of thousands of Palestinians in the war-torn enclave. In a Wednesday morning social media post, the Israeli government said it had "scaled up our capabilities" and it included a video clip showing hundreds of white containers that it said were loaded with aid and waiting for collection inside Gaza.

"This is what the content of 700 aid trucks looks like. It is waiting on the Gazan side of Kerem Shalom to be picked up by UN agencies," COGAT, the Israeli government agency that handles affairs in the Palestinian territories, said in the post . "All the UN did was make up excuses. Aid needs to be collected and delivered. The UN needs to do its job."

The United Nations says it's not just about getting food into Gaza, but distributing it once it reaches the territory. U.N. aid agencies say those operations have been severely hindered by the almost total destruction of Gaza's civilian infrastructure. Many roads have been blown up, along with health, water, sanitation and food production facilities.

"The problem is that famine is much more complex," said Andrea De Dominico, who heads the U.N. office for humanitarian affairs in the Palestinian territories. "It's much bigger than simply bringing in flour and baking a few loaves of bread."

In the north of Gaza, Israel said Tuesday that two bakeries had been brought back to life for the first time in six months, after receiving fuel and flour. For many they are a lifeline.

"It had reached the point where we were eating animal feed," said Gaza resident Wissam Dawad.

But it's not enough.

Khaled al-Ghoula said he'd "waited six hours for bread."

Humanitarian workers do what they can. The demand to fill bowl after bowl at emergency food distribution points is never ending.

Still, a third of children under the age of two in Gaza are currently acutely malnourished, according to the U.N. children's charity UNICE. Prior to Israel launching its war against Hamas in Gaza in response to the group's Oct. 7 terror attack, UNICEF did not consider there to be any acutely malnourished children in the Palestinian territory.

Zelenskiy calls for operational changes to Ukraine military after sacking commander

Volodymyr Zelenskiy has demanded rapid changes in the operations of Ukraine’s military and announced the dismissal of the commander of its medical forces.

The Ukrainian president’s move was announced on Sunday as he met defence minister, Rustem Umerov, and coincided with debate over the conduct of the 20-month-old war against Russia , with questions over how quickly a counteroffensive in the east and south is proceeding.

“In today’s meeting with defence minister Umerov, priorities were set,” Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address. “There is little time left to wait for results. Quick action is needed for forthcoming changes.”

Zelenskiy said he had replaced Maj Gen Tetiana Ostashchenko as commander of the medical forces.

“The task is clear, as has been repeatedly stressed in society, particularly among combat medics, we need a fundamentally new level of medical support for our soldiers,” he said.

This, he said, included a range of issues – better tourniquets, digitalisation and better communication.

Umerov acknowledged the change on the Telegram messaging app and set as top priorities digitalisation, “tactical medicine” and rotation of service personnel.

Ukraine’s military reports on what it describes as advances in recapturing occupied areas in the east and south and last week acknowledged that troops had taken control of areas on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River in southern Kherson region.

Ukrainian commander in chief, Gen Valery Zaluzhny, in an essay published this month, said the war was entering a new stage of attrition and Ukraine needed more sophisticated technology to counter the Russian military.

While repeatedly saying advances will take time, Zelenskiy has denied the war is headed into a stalemate and has called on Kyiv’s western partners, mainly the United States, to maintain levels of military support.

Ostashchenko was replaced by Maj Gen Anatoliy Kazmirchuk, head of a military clinic in Kyiv.

Her dismissal came a week after a Ukrainian news outlet suggested her removal, as well as that of others, was imminent after consultations with paramedics and other officials responsible for providing support to the military.

Meanwhile on Sunday, air defence units in Moscow intercepted a drone targeting the city, mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Sobyanin, writing on the Telegram messaging app, said units in the Elektrostal district in the capital’s east had intercepted the drone.

According to preliminary information, falling debris resulting from the operation had caused no casualties or damage, Sobyanin said.
