We went to book a short cruise unfortunately staff had rung in sick so we had a quite a wait before we could see someone. However the staff were very attentive and apologetic advising us and offering alternatives. We decided to wait and when we saw a consultant she was very helpful, pleasant and informative we were very pleased with the service she gave and did book our short break. The advice we was very useful when it came to deciding on our holiday. So much more enjoyable than flicking from one site to another trying to compare. Don’t really mind if we paid a bit more… worth it for the human touch. The only negative was the slow internet connection the member of staff was having to deal with and maybe this could be addressed as some customers may not be as patient as we were!

I booked and paid for a 2 week break to Lanzarote - upgraded price of a "superior apartment" on arrival I was told that it was only a standard apartment that we had paid for! (nothing wrong with apt we got - just didnt have the facilities that the superior had! spoke with 2 other couples who had booked with Co op Travel, and the same has happened.

On return yesterday, I spoke to the rep at the travel agent (same one who booked us) all I got from her was "I will need to fill in a form" "It's only £40 each more for a superior anyway" which, I think is a cheek. that amouts to £80 SPENDING Money

Just read this thread, can't really believe it.

How come so many people haven't got a clue what they are booking and who they are booking it through and don't know the difference between a travel agent and a tour operator. Truly amazing.

Particularly like the person who booked the wrong airport and it was everybody's fault but his what a dumb nuts. Man up if you make a mistake and admit to it for goodness sake - a man of the cloth as well, he must be breaking a few commandments there blaming everyone but himself.

Personally, I would be down my local branch kicking off....! ask to speak to a manager, refuse to budge till they sort it, any crap from them , tell them you will be calling Trading Standards (have this number on your phone to call from their office, local rag too if needs be) after all, they are sitting with your money! making interest in their account, when it could be doing just that in yours!

Sorry not back to you sooner but finally after so long in court got my money back coop payed me the money and payed the court costs so if you are willing to fight for your rights do so and don't let anyone tell you different coop said they would claim the money from the company that tried to rip me off good luck to that I say

Dear trip advisor, I have been using Co-op travel for any years and have never had any problems with them.

Four or five bookings per year. Please do not take any notice of most of the above comments especially the person who claims to be of the church, his spelling points to the suspicion that he is not a Rev and that his comment is probably non-fiction. I am sure that any vicar or similar would know how to spell "their".

One comment about this travel agent, this morning I wanted to pay the £4500 balance for my next holiday but they no longer accept cheques, only cash or cards. Can anyone tell me a good reason for this change?

Are we talking about the same Co-op here? As the one I had problems with has been taken over with Thomas Cook

Lots of companies don't accept cheques, and haven't done for some time. Co-op have always been a perfectly good agent, but as with any company there will be people with mixed experiences. People not getting the rooms they booked isn't usually down to the agent. It's either their supplier, but more often than not, the hotel itself. If your confirmation was right when you initially booked the agent had done their job correctly. If it wasn't the time to sort it out was then.
