You might already know these famous hotels by name, but do you know why they’re famous? Here’s what earned some of the world’s best-known hotels their prominence—and why you should stay there.

Burj Al Arab, Dubai

famous hotel burj al arab from a distance

An architectural wonder and one of the most famous hotels in the world, the  Burj Al Arab is a Dubai icon. The third-tallest hotel on Earth, it sits on its own private island and is shaped like a giant ship’s sail. The hotel is over 1,000 feet tall and features infinity pools overlooking the Persian Gulf, nine restaurants, a luxury spa, and a $24,000-per-night suite fit for a king. And if staying here isn’t ritzy enough, the hotel also offers guests the option to arrive by private helicopter transfer or via Rolls-Royce (the hotel owns the world’s largest fleet of the half-million-dollar car; 10 of them).

The plaza hotel, new york city.

tourism hotel list

New York’s most famous hotel is a French-style historic landmark adjacent Central Park that opened in 1907 and was quickly dubbed the “greatest hotel in the world.” The Plaza has served as a filming location for classic movies like Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest  and millennial-favorite Home Alone 2 —and even offers a Home Alone 2 package that will serve you the ice cream Kevin eats in the movie. Because it was the setting of the beloved children’s book Eloise at the Plaza , the hotel also offers an all-pink Eloise Suite . And if all that isn’t enough, The Plaza has also hosted some of the 20 th century’s most famous musical names—from Miles Davis to Peggy Lee. To this day the ultra-luxurious hotel staffs a white-gloved butler on every floor and offers traditional etiquette lessons at The Plaza Hotel Finishing Program .

Marina bay sands, singapore.

famous hotel marina bay sands from afar

A symbol of Singapore’s crazy-rich luxury offerings, the Marina Bay Sands is a famous hotel that’s become best known for its massive rooftop infinity pool, which connects the hotel’s three buildings and overlooks the Marina Bay. You have to be a hotel guest to visit the pool—but base room rates are surprisingly reasonable, starting at around $300 per night. The Marina Bay Sands made headlines when its first opened in 2011, and again in 2018 when North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited it during a summit of world leaders.

Brown’s hotel, london.

Brown's hotel suite bathroom

Famous hotels don’t get much more “fit for a queen” than the five-star luxury hotel where Queen Victoria took her tea: Brown’s Hotel in London’s Mayfair district. Instagram-worthy interiors (hello, marble soaking tubs) and an award-winning afternoon tea program make it the ultimate splurge when staying in the heart of London, just a short walk from Buckingham Palace’s Green Park and Birdcage Walk.

Atlantis bahamas, nassau.

famous hotel atlantis towers

The massive resort and casino built around Nassau’s Paradise Island, Atlantis is a famous hotel for having the largest open-air marine animal habitat in the world. Named for a mythical underwater empire, the real-life resort’s Royal Towers make it looks like a castle. The Atlantis Resort has six unique sections all  centered around Aquaventure , a 141-acre water park featuring 11 pools, a lazy river, and the iconic “Leap of Faith” waterslide—a tube that passes down a faux Mayan temple and through a live shark tank. And if you’re not looking for shark-adjacent thrills, it all sits beside five miles of pristine Bahamian beaches.

Want to sleep where Marilyn Monroe once lived? Dubbed the Pink Palace, the retro-luxe Beverly Hills Hotel on historic Sunset Boulevard has served as a meeting spot and makeshift home to a slew of movie stars like Monroe while they were working on set in Los Angeles. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton also honeymooned at the hotel in the 1960s, and many more celebrities of Hollywood’s Golden Age made the property their go-to hotel. To this day Bungalow Seven, the room which is rumored to have been Marilyn Monroe’s favorite, is nicknamed Norma Jeane—the star’s real name.

The brando, tahiti.

famous hotel the brando

If visiting the far-off French Polynesian islands of Tahiti aren’t enough of a status symbol for you, staying at world-famous hotel on a private island should be. The Brando is named for actor Marlon Brando, who purchased the island after having filmed a movie there.

Brando’s exclusive namesake resort sits on a remote atoll that’s only accessible via a 20-minute plane ride from Tahiti’s capital of Papeete. Made up of private beachfront villas complete with their own outdoor pools, The Brando is billed as a “carbon-negligible” eco-lodge and also supports Tahitian conservation efforts and nature research.

Famous hotel la mamounia pool

A former palace that dates back to the 12th century, La Mamounia Marrakech is a Mudejar-style luxury hotel that will transport you back in time. Omni parker house, boston.

Omni parker hotel restaurant parkers

The longest continuously operating hotel in the U.S., Boston’s historic Omni Parker House dates back to the 1800s and is also a famous hotel for its high-end restaurant, Parker’s, where John F. Kennedy proposed to his wife Jackie in 1953. The table where she said yes still sits in Parker’s Restaurant. The restaurant is also thought to be the birthplace of Boston creme pie (circa 1865). Parker’s has served Boston’s elite for centuries, but packs some lesser known trivia, too—like the fact that it separately employed historical figures Malcolm X and Ho Chi Minh as wait staff and kitchen staff, respectively. And while this famous hotel is super historic, thanks to a recent renovation it’s also modern and luxurious.

The Top 25 Hotel Brands in the World in 2021

tourism hotel list

Note: If you’re looking for our most recent recommendations, check out the 2023 list of our favorite hotel brands .

This year's World's Best Awards survey was open for voting January 11 through May 10, 2021, as destinations around the world were lifting COVID-19 restrictions. Survey rules have always allowed readers to reflect on their travel experiences over a three year period. We hope that this year's honorees will inspire your own travels as you get back out into the world.

During a year that upended the entire world — and, with it, the entire hospitality industry — hotel groups large and small have demonstrated incredible perseverance. They've navigated lockdowns, donated rooms to first responders , found ways to support their staff, and, as conditions improved, welcomed back guests with service that may have looked a bit different but felt no less gracious. In fact, T+L readers awarded hotels even higher marks, on average, than last year, which is especially impressive given all of the COVID-19 safety protocols brands had to implement.

Every year for the World's Best Awards survey, Travel + Leisure asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated hotel brands on their locations, rooms/facilities, food, service, and overall value.

Belmond, with its collection of 34 properties, made this year's list at No. 22, earning raves for sterling service and elegant properties that deeply reflect a sense of place. "Every trip I take, if there is a Belmond option, I splurge for a few nights," wrote one reader. "Worth it every time. Each property is different and feels unique based on the location — but they're all consistent in their commitment to quality."

Generally speaking, more and more travelers are gravitating toward hotels that support guests' well-being and follow responsible business practices . It's no wonder then that T+L readers gave two of this year's spots to brands known for their efforts on both fronts. Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas earned the No. 6 rank, while Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts came in at No. 19. One reader touted Six Senses as a "good example for sustainability and wellness." Of Banyan Tree, a fan wrote, "You can definitely fully relax and recharge your energy."

Small brands also won big this year. With 11 hotels in Europe, the Caribbean, and South America, No. 4 Oetker Collection captured hearts and votes with warm, gracious service: "They make me feel like family every time I visit one of their magnificent places," wrote one reader. No. 2 Capella Hotels & Resorts, which also took second place last year, swayed readers with the "top-notch" service at its eight "beautiful" hotels, readers said.

But it was The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, an India-only brand with just nine properties, that ranked No. 1. Keep reading for details on what makes it so special to T+L readers — and which other hospitality groups made this year's list of best hotel brands.

1. The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts

Maintaining the top spot for the second year in a row, this nine-property brand proved that it's not always a globe-spanning footprint that makes the difference for travelers. Though India has been hard hit by COVID in the past year, the country remains a bucket-list destination for travelers eager to experience its one-of-a-kind draws, including the jewels and handicrafts of Jaipur, the beaches of Goa, and the historic sights of Delhi. In each of those destinations, The Leela's hotels provide top-tier accommodations with "excellent staff and beautiful rooms and suites," one reader wrote. In fact, "excellent" was the most common adjective used by T+L readers to describe the brand.

The best hotel booking sites give customers the broadest range of options with as many details as possible about the listed hotels. In addition to competitive prices, sites offer rewards or discounts to frequent travelers depending on how often they book. Final Verdict

Frequently asked questions, methodology, best overall : booking.com.

This hotel booking site sports one of the largest numbers of hotel accommodations around the world, and guests often gravitate toward it to find a great deal. In addition to hotels, Booking.com allows guests to search for car rentals, flights, and flight and hotel packages.

Broad selection

Reviews only by those who have booked

Customer service challenges

Booking.com is an aggregator site known for its volume of hotel options at all price points, though many travelers turn to the site to compare rates on hotels around the world. The site has been known to deliver some of the lowest rates on the internet. Reviews of hotels displayed on the website are written by individuals who’ve booked and completed travel through Booking.com. It also makes a point of including taxes as part of published rates for hotels located in Europe and Asia.

In 2022, the Amsterdam-based company eliminated a few thousand call center jobs, while existing positions were outsourced, which might mean customer service challenges on the consumer end during this transition.

Best Overall , Runner-Up : Hotels.com

A bulleted list of fees and policies makes listed hotels easy to compare.

Millions of listings

Detailed reviews

You may miss out on hotel brands' loyalty programs

Hotels.com is one of the longest-running hotel listing sites in the business and publishes more than 3 million different listings in nearly 20,000 locations around the world including in cities like Cape Town, Lisbon, countries within the Caribbean, and Japan. Use its search engine to filter hotel results by category, such as by accessibility requirements—like a roll-in shower or sign-language capable staff—preferred neighborhood, and must-have amenities such as an ocean view or free airport shuttle. Search also by type of accommodations, including motels and apartments. Its app also offers an additional 10 percent off bookings.

Its collection of 10,000 VIP Access properties are cream-of-the-crop listings that have received top ratings for exceptional service by Hotels.com guests. Hotel reviews by Hotels.com guests indicate how long and what type of trip users took (business vs. leisure) for additional context.

Best for Luxury : Mr and Mrs Smith

Mr & Mrs Smith

Discerning traveler-curated boutique hotel listings include exclusive perks when you book with this site.

Listed hotels must pass vetting process

Listings across multiple continents

Limited number of listings

The U.K.-based Mr and Mrs Smith considers itself a global travel club. Guests booking through its site receive access to a curated list of more than 1,700 upscale hotels and villas throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean, among other locales. Peruse listings by categories, such as child-friendly hotels, properties ideal for a honeymoon, and pet-friendly hotels.

Each Mr and Mrs Smith property must be invited into its roster after passing a strict, anonymous review by one of the company’s in-house travel specialists. Most of the listings are boutique hotels with a penchant for considered aesthetics and lots of unique touches (such as an onsite restaurant that produces its own olive oil). Many unique accommodations are offered, with options including treehouse hotels and tropical retreats with both overwater and underwater rooms.

The site offers three membership tiers. Its second and third tiers are paid options (choose to make either a monthly or an annual payment, beginning at $150 annually) and include perks like priority booking on exclusive offers, discounted access to airport lounges, and room upgrades as available.

Best Budget : Hostelworld

 Hostelworld

Socially minded and budget-conscious travelers turn to this hotel booking site for affordable rates and a flexible cancellation policy—24 hours prior to arrival.

Caters to budget-focused travelers

Can plan for large groups

Lacks the depth of larger, aggregate sites

Budget travelers looking for a hostel or cheap hotel should check out Hostelworld. It lists 36,000 properties in 178 countries, with more than 13 million verified guest reviews to back them up in backpacker-friendly locales from Amsterdam and Berlin to New Zealand.

Filter results by room type (such as all-female dorms or en-suite family rooms), distance from the city center, and accommodation type. Although the site is called Hostelworld, you can also book bed and breakfasts, apartments, and campsites. Overviews of each listing are provided by the property owners and are accompanied by a Hostelworld description of the property, a summary of amenities like free WiFi or complimentary breakfast, and other travelers' reviews. Select your room type, pay a nominal deposit to reserve your room, and receive instant confirmation.

Traveling in a group of 15 or more? Use the site’s group travel bookings feature to plan your friend-cation, reunion, and more. And since hostels typically have a social, communal vibe, in 2022, Hostelworld announced its platform now offers the optional capability to interact and connect with other Hostelworld guests checking in to the same city and hostel 14 days before arrival.

Best for Spontaneous Travel : Hotel Tonight

Travelers with flexibility and those in need of last-minute accommodations find this app-first hotel booking service offers heavily discounted rooms in a pinch.

Accommodates short-term needs

Loyalty program

Still must coordinate some details directly with hotels

Need a last-minute hotel room, or have a flexible schedule and like to make travel plans as they unfold? The HotelTonight app, owned by Airbnb as of 2019, is your answer to discounted hotel rooms in a pinch (though the app will allow bookings up to 100 days in advance). Search for a hotel by date and location, and if it’s available, choose your room type. Insider tip: HotelTonight lists excess hotel room inventory, which is why you aren’t always able to select your room.

Hotels are categorized with descriptors like Hip (stylish and quirky), Charming (intimate, and can include bed and breakfasts), and Luxe (for impeccable service and impressive amenities). Its tiered loyalty program unlocks steeper discounts the more you book with the app, and its Deals offers are occasional flash sales that offer even deeper discounts if you book within a 15-minute window. Note that as of October 2022, specific requests like early check-in can’t be made within the app, so you’ll have to coordinate with the hotel directly.

Best for Membership Rewards : Marriott Bonvoy

There are 30 brands under the Marriott name and growing, and you can sign up for its free travel rewards program to begin earning points and perks.

Includes all 30 Marriott brands

Compatible with Marriott Bonvoy-branded credit cards

No access to non-Marriott hotels

If you’re booking a hotel, chances are it might be a Marriott brand property. Marriott boasts 30 brands at all price points within its portfolio, from SpringHill Suites to Design Hotels, and Westin to the Ritz-Carlton. That said, travelers should take advantage of its free loyalty program, Marriott Bonvoy. When you sign up, rack up points to climb its tiered status levels. The more you stay, the more points you earn toward perks like free upgrades, access to club lounges, late check-out, and upgraded WiFi. And the higher up in elite status one goes, the higher the percentage increase in points you receive per booking.

There are a number of ways to earn points with Marriott Bonvoy in addition to booking a hotel room, including making purchases with a Marriott-branded or partner credit card (like The Platinum card by American Express), and booking a car rental with Hertz. Note that points expire after 24 months if you do not complete at least one of a host of actions to remain eligible in the program.

Best for Social Impact : Kind Traveler

As of 2023, this hotel booking site is still arguably the only one out there with a business model that accounts for social and environmental impact.

Recommendations for nearby sites to see

Rewards charity donations

Limited to a niche market

Travelers in pursuit of peace of mind knowing their travel dollars are making a direct impact on the destination they’re visiting will enjoy perusing the hotels listed on Kind Traveler. This hotel booking site’s get-and-give model asks travelers to make a $10 donation to a charity in exchange for a dollar amount off nightly rates. Booking with Kind Traveler also means exclusive perks and amenities—for example, a reservation at pet-friendly Kimpton Armory hotel in Bozeman, Montana, includes a room upgrade and late check-out (though both perks are dependent on availability). At this property, your $10 donation goes toward funding day camp experiences for people with disabilities.

We also love that each hotel listing includes several recommendations to “do good for the day” near your selected hotel. In Bozeman, for example, Kind Traveler suggests a visit to the Emerson Center for Arts and Culture to support its art community, or a donation to No Kid Hungry Montana, an organization serving the food-insecure.

When it comes to hotel booking sites, there’s something for every type of traveler. Many of the sites key in on finding the best deals on the web, and some get super-specialized, such as presenting hotel room listings for last-minute travelers. Overall, for tons of options with an eye for affordability, Booking.com is our top pick for the best hotel booking site.

What Is the Best Hotel Booking Site?

The answer may vary depending on specific needs, but we found that Booking.com offers the broadest range of hotel properties along with ease of use and opportunities for discounts. Another aggregate listing site, Hotels.com, was a close second, and most travelers should be able to find what they need through one of those sites.

Is It Better to Book Directly With the Hotel?

It depends. If you can speak with someone at the hotel with authority to offer discounts, you may be able to negotiate a lower rate , a free room upgrade, or other amenities. However, this requires taking the time to reach out directly to hotels and the skill to negotiate such deals. If you're in a hurry or if haggling isn't your thing, a hotel booking site may be your best option.

What Is the Cheapest Site for Booking Hotels?

Most of the sites on our list allow customers to search by price. While Booking.com and Hotels.com have the largest listings and should be able to direct customers to cheap options, Hostelworld is specifically geared toward budget travelers .

What Days Are Cheapest to Book Hotels?

This is another question that depends on the details, such as the type of hotel. If it's a hotel that caters to business travelers , it's likely to be busiest during the week, meaning you might find weekend deals. However, if it's a hotel in the middle of a popular tourist destination, weekends might be the busiest time, meaning a weekday trip might fetch the best deal.

We evaluated the major (and some niche) hotel booking sites for the volume of hotel room listings, unique value propositions (such as steeper discounts for last-minute bookings), and guest reviews. We also considered travelers’ values, such as social- and environmental-impact opportunities, and budget preferences.

On April 24, 2024, the MICHELIN Guide revealed the brand new list of One, Two, and Three Key hotels in the United States. In this first ever announcement of MICHELIN Keys in the United States, hotels in Atlanta, California, Chicago, Colorado, Florida, New York, and Washington DC were eligible for the distinction. This announcement of the most outstanding hotels in the country comes four years into a comprehensive refresh of our hotel selection. The MICHELIN Guide now includes over 5,000 hotels across the world, and not a single one is simply a room for the night. These are places that significantly add to your experience as a traveler, each vetted and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting. Which brings us back to the Keys. The culmination of countless hours of evaluation by our team of experts, the Key hotels below represent the highlights of our broader selection. Like the MICHELIN Stars for restaurants, the MICHELIN Keys are our most outstanding hotels. In total, the 2024 MICHELIN Guide hotel selection in the United States includes 11 Three Key hotels, 33 Two Key hotels, and 80 One Key hotels. Want to know more about the MICHELIN Key? The Aman New York — New York, New York

The Three Key Club in New York City

Expect: The highest luxury and impeccable design in Soho, Midtown, and the Financial District. Within the small club of Three Key hotels in the United States, four make their home in New York City. The Aman New York (Midtown) and Casa Cipriani (the Financial District) both make use of glamorous Beaux Arts buildings, the former a gold-crowned skyscraper in Midtown, the latter a glamorously restored ferry terminal at the very southern tip of Manhattan. Each is a refuge: an elegant, painstakingly designed escape from bustling city life. Meanwhile, two Firmdale hotels round out the list of Three Key hotels in New York City. Each is a quintessential example of the style and execution of the group’s co-owner and interior designer, Kit Kemp. Jewels on the Coast: Up and Down California

Its sheer breadth of size and variety means it’s no surprise to announce California as the state with the most Key hotels in America. Here, we’ll point you towards coastal gems like the sublime architectural achievements in Big Sur ( Post Ranch Inn and Ventana ), beachside luxuries in Santa Monica (in particular: the newly opened Georgian ), and wine country favorites like SingleThread and the Madrona . What we love: how each one of these hotels opens the door to the very best of their locations — and gives us a look at each setting through fresh eyes.

The Chicago Athletic Association — Chicago, Illinois

Across America: The Golden Age of Celebrity

Our French Keys bask in the tradition of ancient vineyards, stone chateaus, and historic palaces. In the United States, we see a different tradition. In Los Angeles, places like Chateau Marmont , the Paramour Estate , Sunset Tower , and the Charlie date back to guests and residents as illustrious as Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe. These are spaces that play ingeniously with their history, even as they forge ahead with cutting-edge amenities and experiences. But it’s not just California. New York’s historic artist hotspot, the Hotel Chelsea , once hosted Bob Dylan and Andy Warhol. Today, it decorates every space with art donated by former residents. Look too to the Chicago Athletic Association , a former member’s club for 20th century business magnates and athletes — now among the city’s most impressive and vibrant hotels. A Guide to 21 of the Most Popular Types of Hotels

gold sign on exterior of hotel

From cozy roadside inns with basic cable and morning coffee to massive all-inclusive vacation resorts in the world’s most luxurious destinations , there are dozens upon dozens of different types of hotels located throughout the world.

While some of these properties have many similarities — for example, an all-inclusive resort may also be classified as an extended stay property — there are also some that couldn't be more different (i.e. casino hotels vs. hostels).

Confused? Don't be. In this post, we break down 21 of the most popular types of hotels and explore the similarities and differences of each. Whether you’re a traveler looking for a low-priced economy room or an aspiring hotelier looking to take a deeper dive into your options, the wide world of hotels has something for everyone.

21 of the most popular types of hotels

1. chain hotels.

The most common hotel type on this list,  chain hotels make up  tens of thousands of properties located throughout the world. Chain hotels typically fall under a group of hotels operated by a company or owner. Hilton, for example, has a portfolio made up of over a dozen "separate" brands , including DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hampton, Homewood Suites, and Home2 Suites. Another example is Marriott , which boasts brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton, Westin, Gaylord, Courtyard, and SpringHill Suites.

Franchise ownership is common at these properties, which are also known for their frequent renovations and even "secret menus" at some hotel restaurants and bars.

Hoteliers at these properties should know travelers are on the lookout for hidden fees like resort fees and explore the perks of hotel loyalty programs. For example, Marriott International offers a VIP program called Marriott Bonvoy that includes various tiers with rewards like free nights, room upgrades, and even airline partnerships. Some chain hotels offer unadvertised discounts to specific groups when booking directly with the hotel or have fewer fees than third-party booking sites.

The term “motel” evolved in the 1920s , long after the term hotel, and is a blend of the words “motor” and “hotel.” Motels started cropping up to cater to travelers as an affordable, accessible place to stop overnight during long trips. They're typically located along highways and other major roadways, and offer minimal amenities, if any.

Motels usually have a different layout than standard hotels as well, with rooms being accessible from the exterior. Additionally, motels are typically one to two stories high, while hotels can be much larger. Motel 6, Super 8, and Econo Lodge are some of the most well-known motel chains, though motels can be independently operated also.

For hoteliers considering the motel business, understanding the preferences and expectations of road-trip travelers is essential. Offering personalized service such as valet, historical tours for older properties, and even complimentary fluff and fold can set motels apart in this niche market.

A resort is usually a destination that attempts to provide travelers with everything they need in one location: Accommodations, dining, drinks, shopping, and entertainment. Often located in popular vacation destinations, some resorts are all-inclusive , allowing travelers to pay one price for unlimited service. The Hyatt Ziva Cancun , for example, is an all-inclusive resort catering to Cancun vacationers, providing them with lavish services and an uninterrupted view of the Caribbean.

While some resorts are budget-friendly, there are also luxury options available. Luxury resorts are the epitome of grandeur and indulgence. These establishments offer guests lavish accommodations, world-class amenities, and exceptional service. Often located in exotic destinations, luxury resorts provide a complete escape from the ordinary. Expect stunning oceanfront villas, private butlers, gourmet dining, and top-tier spas. These resorts are perfect for honeymooners, celebrities, and anyone seeking an unforgettable, pampering experience.

An inn is usually much smaller than a standard or chain hotel. Often individually or family-owned, inns tend to offer a cozy, homey feel for their guests. Typically offering fewer in-room amenities than a larger hotel chain, you may find in-room coffee, Wi-Fi, or small breakfast options available at an inn.

Many inns offer unique styles or decorations from room to room, providing guests with a unique experience. Some inns, like the Ponte Winery and Vineyard Inn in Temecula, California, have a vineyard on-property and specialize in wedding services as well.

For innkeepers, it's important to understand that maintaining the historical or unique character of the property while providing modern comforts is both a challenge and a major selling point. To stand out, inns can create a strong sense of community by hosting local events, art displays, or culinary experiences, attracting both guests and locals.

5. All-suites

Hotels in which all of the guest rooms are suites are commonly referred to as all-suite hotels . These hotels typically have “suites” in the name, making them easier for travelers to identify.

All-suite properties usually offer each guest a bedroom, separate living area, and a kitchen area or cooking accessories. Many large hotel companies have an all-suites brand or two under their umbrella, such as Comfort Suites by Choice Hotels, Embassy Suites by Hilton, or Staybridge Suites by IHG.

For hoteliers, it's essential to recognize that all-suites hotels often cater to guests who desire more space, convenience, or a longer stay. This makes it crucial to focus on room layout, functionality, and maintenance. Plus, all-suites properties can attract business travelers seeking a home-like environment for work trips. Interior design that brings in elements of both luxury and coziness are essential for this audience.

6. Conference/convention center hotels

Conference or convention center hotels  are characterized by their combination of guest rooms and meeting space. These properties are designed to host large events and provide a wide variety of event options to accommodate different setups, entertainment opportunities, A/V equipment, and breakout needs.

These types of hotels specialize in accommodating everything needed at a conference: The event location, overnight rooms, food and beverage services, and transportation. They typically hold thousands of feet of flexible event space and are frequently found in larger cities or popular business destinations.

7. Extended stay hotels

While many lodging options cater to overnight or short-term stays, some properties specialize in accommodating travelers looking for an extended stay. This type of hotel is called an  extended stay hotel , and it's popular among  business travelers and other individuals staying in one location for multiple days, weeks, or longer.

Most extended stay properties provide guests additional amenities to make it feel more like home, such as a fully-equipped kitchen.  Extended Stay America offers studio rooms at many locations, as well as daily, weekly, and nightly rates to accommodate a variety of budgets.

Many extended stay hotels have partnerships with local restaurants, gyms, and businesses, offering discounts and deals to guests for even more savings. However, they may lack the daily housekeeping services found in traditional hotels, which can be a consideration for those who prefer daily cleaning.

8. Boutique hotels

Boutique hotels  are typically much smaller than the average chain hotel. Usually made up of 100 guest rooms or fewer, you can expect to find boutique hotels in exciting locations or near popular destinations, such as an urban city center or hip shopping district. Boutique hotels can be independently operated, or part of a chain , but they tend to cater to a specific audience, offer a unique style, and provide thoughtful services.

“There are an infinite number of recipes, but the key ingredients I see in a boutique hotel are individuality and a great emotional impact," Shlomo Gabbai — the director of the annual Boutique Hotel Awards, which recognize the best-of-the-best in boutique hotels — told Business Insider .

9. Bunkhouses

Basic accommodations sporting bunk beds, or a barracks-like building style, are commonly referred to as bunkhouses . Originally, bunkhouses were used to house field-hands , ranchers, working cowboys, and other migratory workers. However, bunkhouses have evolved over the years, and now, many hotels offer modern versions used to accommodate large groups. The Atticus Hotel in Mcminnville, Oregon, for example, boasts a luxury bunkhouse that travelers can enjoy while soaking in all Oregon has to offer.

"With a wall of luxury bunks, cubbies for six and a bathroom artfully designed for a crowd, our Luxury Bunkhouse is equipped for late nights of laughter with good friends," reads the hotel's website .

Hoteliers take note: bunkhouses are often located near outdoor recreational areas. So offering camping or outdoor sport equipment rentals or even guided nature tours such as snowshoeing or stargazing can attract more visitors.

10. Bed and breakfasts

Typically smaller, privately-owned properties, the bed and breakfast is a favorite accommodation among travelers looking to experience the intricacies of a destination. Known for providing a bed, as well as food services (most commonly breakfast), many “BnBs” are operated by live-in innkeepers. The owners often live somewhere on-property or nearby, operate the property themselves, and may even prepare meals for travelers.

Highlighting the unique character of the property—whether it's historical, architectural, or themed—can help differentiate the B&B from competitors. Also, participating in B&B associations and online directories can boost visibility and credibility. It's crucial for hoteliers to manage their time effectively, as running a B&B can be demanding due to the hands-on nature of the business.

11. Eco hotels

An eco hotel — also commonly referred to as a green hotel  or sustainable hotel — is a type of hotel that puts a lot of focus on operating in an environmentally-friendly and sustainable manner. Eco-friendly hotels promote green initiatives, such as utilizing solar power and reducing waste, and make it a priority to reduce their environmental impact.

For hoteliers interested in operating eco hotels, it's essential to understand that sustainability can be both a selling point and a cost-saving measure. While eco-friendly technologies may have an upfront cost, they can lead to long-term savings in energy and water expenses. Adding local and seasonal meal options, as well as vegetarian and vegan ones, can be an easy-to-implement sustainable measure. Collaboration with local communities and support for environmental and wildlife conservation projects can also create a positive impact beyond the hotel's operations.

12. Casino hotels

Casino hotels are located in — you guessed it — casinos! They typically offer overnight guest rooms, access to an in-house casino, and often include a variety of restaurants, bars, activities, and shopping options for guests.

13. Pop-up hotels

Stylish and trendy, pop-up hotels are temporary lodging options that “pop up” for a short period of time. Pop-up hotels are appealing to travelers seeking new experiences, or those who want to enjoy “untouched” locations.

The exclusivity of these types of hotels makes them appealing to many trend-setters and social media influencers. Just take  Taco Bell’s wildly successful pop-up hotel  as an example.

14. Pet-friendly hotels

Pet-friendly properties allow guests to bring their pets with them when they travel. Some of these properties charge a pet fee, while others allow complimentary pet stays. Weight limits, breed restrictions, or the number of animals a traveler may check-in with can vary from property to property. Websites like petswelcome.com  allow travelers to search for pet-friendly properties.

15. Roadhouses

Roadhouse  is a term that was commonly used to refer to motels or small lodging options along the highway. It was also a popular term in Britain used to describe roadside pubs that included lodging options . While the term can still be found on advertising at some hotels and venues, it’s more commonly associated with restaurants now.

16. Gastro hotels

Perfect for foodies, gastro hotels are focused on providing travelers overnight accomodations coupled with fantastic food. Gastro hotels are usually on the smaller side with fewer than 50 rooms . For example, The Cookbook Gastro Boutique Hotel & Spa has only 17 rooms and takes special care creating culinary delights for guests who choose to book with them.

17. Micro hotels

Micro hotels are exactly what they sound like: Small hotels. Designed for people who need a place to sleep and not much else, the presence of micro hotels is growing . Hilton recently entered the micro hotel space with the creation of its Motto brand , which features city-centric properties that supply "travel-sized rooms for all-sized trips."

18. Transit hotels

Transit hotels , also called airport hotels, appeal to travelers with a flight to catch. Transit hotels are  located inside of an airport , typically close to a terminal and within a security checkpoint. Passengers facing long flights, or international flights, are able to check in and get some rest at transit hotels in between trips or during lengthy layovers.

Some transit hotels offer short and flexible check-in/check-out times which means guests can stay for as little as a few hours to fit in a quick nap before a connecting flight. Additionally, these hotels are often equipped with soundproofing to reduce noise from nearby transportation terminals, ensuring a peaceful rest. Amenities like luggage storage and proximity to transportation terminals are also key selling points for transit hotels.

19. Heritage hotels

Travelers looking to soak up local culture or explore the history of an area may choose to stay at a heritage hotel . These types of hotels are typically located in historically-significant areas or have a direct connection to major events that shaped the local culture. Due to the age of many of the original structures, some heritage hotels are remodeled versions of old castles or temples.

20. Hostels

A term you may associate with backpacking across Europe, or similar travel styles, hostels are lodging options that appeal to travelers on a budget. Most hostels provide dorm-style sleeping arrangements and target a specific type of traveler, such as students and short-term younger travelers.

Many organize events, tours, and group activities to help guests connect and make new friends during their travels. This can be an ideal situation for solo travelers or remote workers interested in moving to a new area.

21. Unique concept hotels

An exciting, fun, and unique type of hotel, concept hotels allow travelers to fully immerse themselves in one-of-a-kind experiences. Concept hotels include ice hotels , underwater hotels , and just about any other unique property you can think of.

FAQs about the different types of hotels

How many different types of hotels are there.

There isn't definitive number of hotel types to choose from. As the industry evolves to meet the needs of modern travelers, new hotel styles are popping up all the time. We’ve outlined 21 of the most common in this post, but there are still more varieties out there, especially in niche markets of the hospitality industry .

What do stars mean for different types of hotels?

The five-star rating system is commonly used by independent organizations to determine the quality of a hotel . The rating system measures different criteria including the condition and quality of the hotel and its guest facilities.

To put it simply, a one-star hotel is typically an economy-priced hotel with no extravagant amenities or additional frills. A luxury hotel, however, may be rated five stars if the property is flawless, provides premium dining services, and offers personalized services to guests. Some hotels these days are even receiving seven stars!

How are hotels categorized?

Hotels can be categorized in a variety of ways, such as by size, location, services, star rating, and amenities. Hotels are most commonly categorized by the level of service (full or limited) and property type (full-service resort, limited-service hotel, and so on).

What do different types of hotels cost?

The price of a night’s stay at a hotel can range widely based on various factors such as included services, the location of the property, the time of year, and any discounts you may qualify for. For example, while a motel stay may run you less than $100 a night , a luxury five-star hotel stay can cost an average of over $850 per night .

Why are there different types of hotels?

Different hotel types exist to accommodate the varying needs and preferences of travelers. A motel is designed to appeal to travelers on the highway in need of an affordable place to sleep for the night, while an all-inclusive resort appeals to vacationers in a specific destination.

There are so many different types of hotels to choose from!

Fraud is "rife" on second hand marketplaces including Depop, Shpock and Preloved, according to a new survey by Which?.

The consumer magazine/website found that, of 1,300 buyers, 32% had been scammed on a second hand marketplace in the two years to January.

The most common ruse involved consumers receiving incorrect goods or nothing at all, while others were delivered an empty package or fake goods.

57% of those surveyed said they had experienced a scam on Depop.

This compares with 53% for Shpock and 51% for Preloved and Nextdoor.

Amazon Marketplace came in at 35%, while for Gumtree and eBay the figures were both 29%.

The number for Facebook and Vinted was 24% and 22%, respectively.

Rocio Concha, Which? director of policy and advocacy, said the survey’s findings were "worrying".

"It's important that people properly check the seller's reviews and profile," she said, adding that marketplaces need to have proper checks in place and ensure that scam profiles are removed quickly.

Depop told the Guardian it offered protection for buyers and sellers and was investing in new technology.

"We strongly encourage consumers who are buying and selling anywhere online never to share personal information with other users, to be very wary about following links to other sites, and to report any suspicious behaviour via in-app reporting systems."

Sky News has reached out to the other companies mentioned.

You may remember our coverage here a few weeks back on the proliferation of scams targeting Taylor Swift fans hoping to buy tickets to see one of her current run of shows across Europe...

The Shake It Off star will hold a series of concerts in the UK as she continues her Eras tour, with the first taking place in Edinburgh on 7 June.

But the artist's megastardom has seen a huge demand for tickets, which were not cheap even before they sold out within minutes - with prices ranging from £58.65 - £194.75.

Resale prices from legitimate websites have been in the region of £700 each - with some fans reported to have spent well in excess of that to see their hero.

However, such is her popularity among an army of mostly young female devotees that the market has become a target for people seeking to exploit the widespread desperation for tickets.

As reported here, a spate of attempts had seen Facebook users' accounts hacked by scammers, who would then create seemingly genuine posts in groups on the site that the users were members of.

Initially, the posts would suggest the user was seeking to sell tickets - generally four - that were invariably just a few rows from the front of a specific venue for one of Swift's UK shows.

The price suggested in the posts was generally around £180, more expensive than the face value of most tickets, but a fraction of the cost of those being advertised on legitimate resale sites - especially for such desirable seating.

More recent instances indicate the methods being employed by scammers have since evolved and, it appears, become significantly more sophisticated.

In these more recent attempts to defraud so-called Swifties (and in many cases, the parents purchasing the tickets), the posts detail the specific rows and seat numbers.

A further departure from the previous efforts is the scammers no longer including the asking price for the (non-existent) tickets.

Both these changes were evident in one attempt Sky News has become aware of - as was another and decidedly sinister tactic.

In this case, given the number of previous scams that have flooded Facebook, the admin for the group in question first removed the post - correctly assuming it was fraudulent.

But, he told Sky News, he was subsequently sent a photo of what appeared to be the user's passport as a means of verifying her post was genuine.

This development indicates the scammer in question had used some form of photo-editing software to create an image that appeared to be of the user's passport.

"I contacted her to explain that I had deleted her post and removed her account from the group as there are so many scams around, and I could not verify their identity or the validity of the ticket offer," said Trevor Williams, who runs the local community Facebook group in Birmingham.

"Within a few minutes, I received a photo of a passport in this name and an assurance that she was genuine.

"This was enough to change my decision and the post was put it back on the group.

"Most people have no idea of the problems of being an admin on these groups, as you simply cannot win."

How can you protect yourself against these scams?

For those looking to buy resale tickets, the main advice is to simply avoid being tempted into seemingly genuine offers posted on Facebook, unless it is from someone you know and have spoken to directly (and not just over Facebook).

Those looking to sell on their tickets will invariably use the established and legitimate resale sites such as Viagogo or StubHub.

Perhaps the most useful piece of advice is an old one - if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

In terms of protecting yourself against your account on Facebook (or any social media site) being hacked by scammers, the best measure is to ensure you have enabled two-step or two-factor authentication.

This can be found through the security and privacy settings on your Facebook account, and involves the use of your telephone number or a separate authentication app on your phone whenever someone attempts to log in.

A Harvard study over 30 years tracked more than 114,000 adults.

The highest risks were linked with the most processed meats such as sausages and ham.

Regular eaters had a 13% higher chance of dying over the 34 years tracked.

Diets high in sugary and artificially sweetened drinks had a 9% increased risk, the study found.

The used car market increased by 6.5% in the first quarter of the year , with sales of over 1.9 million vehicles, new figures show.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) says the total reveals the strongest start to a year since pre-pandemic 2019.

Sales of used hybrids also increased.

That's all from an enlightening news conference in which we heard an interest rate cut in June hadn't been ruled out - and that rates could fall more than markets expect.

Scroll through to read and watch some of the key moments - meantime, we'll return to general money and consumer news.

We're now hearing the final questions of this news conference.

The governor of the Bank of England is asked if August is more likely than June to see the Monetary Policy Committee cut interest rates.

"Nice try to introduce the 'is it June' question again," Andrew Bailey says with a smile.

"We're going meeting by meeting," he adds, stressing that more data [which will be at the MPC's disposal over the coming months] will allow them more visibility and more scope to make a decision."

Our  economics editor Ed Conway  is next to ask the governor a question.

He asks whether increasing government interest in the Bank's workings has any influence on an interest rate cut.

"We [the Monetary Policy Committee] never discuss politics," Andrew Bailey replies.

"We are an independent central bank, we have a remit and it is our duty to exercise that remit at all times."

"Our remit applies at all times, so it [politics] isn't a consideration."

Asked if inflation dynamics in the UK are different to the US, Andrew Bailey says there is no law that says the US moves first on interest rate cuts and everyone else afterwards.

"There is no law," he says.

"Moreover, we have a remit and target which is related to domestic inflation in the UK.

"We're an open economy so we take the rest of the world into consideration

"But there is no law to say we can only move once the Federal Reserve (central bank of the US) moves."

There is a feeling among economists that, although the US often leads, the European Central Bank may be the first to move with an early June cut.

This could, it has been suggested, push the UK to cut on 20 June.

The 11 Best Hotels in Phoenix and Scottsdale

By Lizbeth Scordo

A swimming pool.

There’s a reason (many, actually) that Phoenix is one of the fastest-growing cities in America. It boasts amazing weather most of the year, is surrounded by natural beauty—thanks to multiple mountain ranges and the Saguaro-dotted desert—comes packed with outdoor activity options, and has an increasingly impressive culinary and cultural scene. While Phoenix and nearby Scottsdale have always been heavy on hotels and resorts to cater to its 40 million annual visitors, several shiny new properties have come online over the last few years while many of the area’s most fabled resorts have unveiled major renovations. Here are the best hotels in Phoenix and Scottsdale to consider for your next Arizona getaway.

Read our full Phoenix travel guide here .

Every hotel on this list has been selected independently by our editors and written by a Condé Nast Traveler journalist who knows the destination and has visited that property. When choosing hotels, our editors consider properties across price points that offer an authentic and insider experience of a destination, keeping design, location, service, and sustainability credentials top of mind.

The Global Ambassador — Phoenix Arrow

Phoenix has its fair share of easy-to-categorize hotels, from rambling retreats for families to Old Town Scottsdale party spots seemingly custom-made for bachelorette blowouts. But a chic, cosmopolitan hotel? A property that’s a legitimately cool day-and-night destination for locals? Absolutely nonexistent in the Valley of the Sun—until the arrival of the Global Ambassador. At first blush, you feel more like you’ve touched down somewhere in Europe: Peek outside at the sweet pool with its pink-striped chaise lounge and orange-with-white-piping sun umbrellas, and you’ll swear you’re on the Amalfi Coast. Despite the abundant modern touches (and complete lack of southwest design aesthetic), however, the backdrop of the magnificent Camelback Mountain will remind you exactly where you are. The overall palette in the 141 guest rooms and suites is soft beiges and whites, with many different textural delights—and there’s good framed art everywhere. Of the five food and drink venues, rooftop restaurant Théa is the crown jewel, thanks to a Mediterranean-inspired dinner menu and 360-degree views of Camelback at sunset. The cutting-edge spa and fitness offerings nicely round out this stylish, sophisticated hotel—one that feels totally transportive yet exactly right for this fast-changing desert city. —Rebecca Misner

Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort — Phoenix Arrow

Once you’re at the Biltmore, there’s no need to really leave. You’re here to be here, though the surrounding desert landscape and Piestewa peak in full view behind the main lawn deliver the “you’re in Arizona ” memo. For a hotel with over 700 rooms (amazingly, it doesn’t feel like it), each manages to feel classically luxurious without steering into the cold or cookie-cutter. Plush beds, desertscape artwork, and bulbous ceramic lamps all over make the room feel both set in the Southwest and tony enough for a Waldorf. For a resort where you plan to stay on-site most of your time, the food has to deliver—by and large, it does. McArthur’s serves reliable American classics, though Renata's Hearth with its smoke-inspired menu is the place to dress up and dine at after a long day in the sun. You could come here just for the spa, where they lean into astrology, crystals, and chakra opening in a big way, resulting in massages and body work that are just that much more interesting than the usual offerings. There are unsurprisingly a ton of families here thanks to family-friendly features like connecting rooms, activities and areas just for children (such as the very popular kids’ pool), and the ease with which parents can take turns escaping for a yoga or pickleball class (it’s a very big place). That said, no matter how great the spa treatments are, nothing can melt away stress like flinging yourself down the waterslides—don’t write them off as just for kids. —Megan Spurrell

Rise Uptown Hotel — Phoenix Arrow

With its midcentury design, groovy rooftop cocktail lounge, and cute perks (popsicles upon check-in, record players in every room, and weekend DJs at the pool), the Rise Uptown is a nice—and affordable—option for those who want to stay near the heart Phoenix but skip the corporate chain high rises. It’s clearly a location for cool kids, within walking distance of quirky retailers including vinyl stores, antique shops independent bookstores, and handmade home décor boutiques plus the heavy mix of restaurants, bars, breweries, and live music venues of Uptown Phoenix and 7 th Avenue’s Melrose District.

Senna House Scottsdale, Curio Collection by Hilton Arrow

While Scottsdale is best known for its sprawling resorts, Senna House is doing its own thing as a compact urban hotel. During the day you’ll find locals and business travelers taking meetings in the lobby, airline crews jumping into shuttles, and vacationers catching some sun and a swim on the second-floor rooftop pool, Sonora Swim Club, overlooking town and Camelback Mountain. Glam ground-floor restaurant Cala has been a hotspot since it opened in early 2022, so expect a steady stream of locals both day and night, and big crowds on weekends. The property is about as centrally located as it gets, in the heart of Scottsdale's Entertainment District. From here, you're walkable to dozens more bars and restaurants.

JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa Arrow

The JW Desert Ridge—one of the largest resorts in the area—feels almost like a small city packed with everything and anything you can imagine including multiple pools, two 18-hole golf courses, a driving range, an array of restaurants (including the new, not-to-be-missed Tia Carmen) plenty of pickle ball and tennis courts, a spa and fitness center, lawns and lounge areas throughout, and lots of experiences geared for children, from a large kids’ club with a long list of daily activities to a lazy river to an arcade. Not surprisingly, families make up a big portion of the guest population and the pool areas are more energetic than serene. The resort first opened two decades ago and, in 2022, completed the first phase of an $80 million renovation—updating rooms, the lobby, and common areas, plus unveiling its new signature restaurant. Both a waterpark and an adults-only pool area are slated to come online later this year. Adero Scottsdale

Adero Scottsdale Arrow

With easy access to 55,000 acres of hiking and biking trails that criss-cross the saguaro-studded Sonoran landscape, days at the new Adero Scottsdale are made for outdoor adventures. But it’s after the seemingly alway-shining Arizona sun finally sets that things really get exciting. The hotel is the rare property to open within a Dark Sky community (of which Arizona only has a handful); this means, in layperson terms, that you’ll have access to some killer stargazing. The hotel’s on-site Dark Sky experts (fondly referred to as “Star Dudes”) lead stargazing sessions. For self-guided tours of the galaxy, telescopes along with daily night sky charts can be delivered to guest rooms; 177 of them, kitted out in desert hues with a midcentury vibe (Frank Lloyd Wright’s home Taliesin West is just a few miles away). If sipping while looking skyward is preferable, the outdoor lawn and patio at the hotel’s bar-restaurant Cielo, is a solid place to watch the surrounding McDowell Mountains turn a sherbety shade as the stars take the stage for the late show.

Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass Hotel

Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass — Phoenix Arrow

Just far enough into the Arizona desert to make it feel like you're on an adventure, you'll be especially smitten with the 10 murals in the main lobby, which encompass local Native American tribes' (Pima and Maricopa) styles of art. The lobby also showcases a panoramic view of the Sierra Estrella mountain range, which is truly beautiful. There's something so refreshing knowing that there's a cultural director on staff. This individual is from the Pima Tribe and her position to ensure that all design and actives surrounding Native American culture is both authentic and respectful. The tipping point, though, is the on-site restaurant and crown jewel, Kai. Chef Drew Anderson provides what is possibly the best fine dining in all of Arizona. The menu is seasonal, but Swansons’ take on pozole and his cocoa- and mesquite-cured duck breast are not to be missed. If weather permits, opt for an outside patio table during sunset to really top the experience. A great desert getaway when you need it.

Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows Arrow

If you weren’t looking for it, you’d likely never know that tucked behind a large shopping center and some residential buildings lies this gem of a resort. The Andaz—a sprawling, low-profile resort mainly made up of individual bungalow-style rooms—sets itself apart from other resorts in the area in part with its heavy focus on art of all kinds. Local craftspeople created much of what you see on the property and the resort offers guests both art classes as well as tours of a nearby artists’ compound that it has a close partnership with. Plus, there’s a weekly schedule of other types of activities and wellness classes—from pasta-making to sound healing to a peek at the property’s own beehive—along with performances by local musicians several days a week, and an excellent restaurant and cocktail program.

Mountain Shadows

Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale Arrow

Mountain Shadows wears multiple hats beyond being a resort, since it’s home to a well-known, par-three golf course that’s open to the public, and the Citizens Club, a private club that offers residents and members access to the resort’s facilities. Throw in the fact it’s a popular venue for wedding and corporate events, and you’ll find a true mix of guests any given day. You might see couples and young families around the resort’s two connected pools, a bachelorette group toasting in one of the cabanas, and locals coming through to play a round or for lunch on the poolside patio of main restaurant Hearth ’51.

Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, A Gurney’s Resort & Spa — Paradise Valley Arrow

There’s a lot to love about this resort: the variety of design-centric accommodations, perfectly manicured grounds, standout restaurant, and robust health and wellness program, for starters. But the unparalleled views of both the valley below and neighboring mountain ranges, courtesy of Sanctuary’s coveted location on the side of Camelback Mountain, is high on the list. Most of its casitas, suites, and villas tiered on the 53-acre property having their own private entrances, so a stay here can feel like a semi-private respite. The infinity-edge pool area is still lively (though tame compared to many other pool scenes), with vacationing couples in their 30s, 40s, and 50s sipping day drinks or small groups of friends here for a chill getaway. You’ll often catch lanyard-wearing business travelers whizzing by during the week as the resort frequently plays hosts to meetings and corporate events.

The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort, Scottsdale Arrow

One of Scottsdale’s most iconic resorts, the Phoenician’s unbeatable location on 250 acres at the base of Camelback Mountain, as well as its magical spa, multiple pools, several dining options, and wide array of onsite outdoor activities make the property an excellent option for just about any type of traveler looking to stay at a luxury property. The crowd varies depending on where you are within the resort. Over at the three tiers of pools during a late spring weekend visit, couples in stylish swimsuits lounged around the adult’s only pool, groups of friends sipped margs while wading in the main Mother-of-Pearl pool, and kids frolicked in the separate splash pad area. Conference-goers are often ducking in and out of the big ballrooms day and night and the lobby is nearly always abuzz with travelers coming and going
