Sunset cruises, dolphin tours combined with a little history of the Jacksonville area make for a fun day on the water. Your captain has over 25 years experience and is licensed with the  USCG.

 Sunset Cruises, Dolphin Tours, trips to the local restaurants on the water, and just general time on  the water including a little history of Jacksonville from a captain and crew that have been involved with the Jacksonville waterways for over 25 years. We limit the number of passengers to 6 so your time on the water will be personal and tailored for you and your guests.

We were able to book a last minute cruise because my husband forgot to do so earlier in the week as a birthday present! He was very accommodating on the time. He even brought me a t-shirt for my birthday! When we reached the marina it started to rain. My husband and I are known as "The Rainmakers" so this isn't new for us. It lightly showered for about 45 minutes. The four of us and the captain sat under the top and talked until the rain stopped, then we did our tour. We saw turtles poking their heads out of the water, spoonbills, herons, and on the way back in we saw plenty of dolphins! First Captain Dan -- he strives to provide customer satisfaction! Second, Captain Dan's boat! Third, the awesome tour that he gave us! I wanted my wife and kids to see dolphins up close and Captain Dan, put us right on several! We are "local yokels", and it was really nice to see the popular attractions around Saint Augustine viewed from the ocean!!! Your guide to Jacksonville

Because this city is so large, it's not very walkable. At least, not outside of a few pockets. The bus system can get you around the main city, but most visitors agree it's best to have your own car. In a pinch, taxis and rideshare services can do the job.

Subtropical Jacksonville gets wet, stormy and very, very hot throughout the summer. Come in July and you can expect your average temperature highs in the 90s°F to come with a hearty side order of thunderstorms and sudden downpours. Choose spring and fall instead for more moderate temperatures and much less rain. And, at these times of year, there will be fewer other tourists to contend with, too.

The heat means you can travel pretty light when you come to Jacksonville. No need for heavy coats and woolen sweaters here. You should still pack carefully though, and make sure you bring:

• Breathable clothes: In humid climates, things get really sticky really fast. Linen and light cotton are good choices; polyester not so much.
• Comfy shorts: Jacksonville is more laid-back than style-conscious, so bring relaxed clothes that are easy to move around in rather than ultra-fashionable.
• A swimsuit: Jacksonville is a coastal city with hot weather, so you're going to need to come equipped to take full advantage of this great combo.

The sunset cruise was a lot of fun while also informative. Kevin was our tour guide and he was great...he and the captain, Mike, gave us the perfect introduction to St. Augustine! I would highly recommend this tour. Oh, and we saw dolphins and a stingray jumped out of the water right next to our boat! That was such a thrill!

Florida airboat flips sending 9 passengers into gator-infested waters, operator arrested

An airboat tour in the Florida Everglades capsized sending passengers overboard on Friday, officials say. This happened when the airboat's driver took a sharp turn to try to see an alligator in the water, according to multiple reports.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said three units responded to a waterway near Coopertown The Original Airboat Tour in the Everglades Friday afternoon. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, nine people and the operator all fell into the water when the boat took a quick turn.

By time MDFR arrived, everyone had climbed out of the water, and only one patient was treated for injuries on the scene.

But the boat's operator was arrested after FWC said he did not have the proper documentation necessary to operate the boat. His employer, Coopertown, did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment Monday morning.

Boat passengers say they were afraid of alligators in water, reports state

Passengers told Local 10 the boat operator was trying to get a closer look at a nearby alligator when the airboat flipped.

“My first thought was panic, I was afraid for my wife and family members, and then I thought about the alligator,” passenger Jose Maldonado told Local 10.

NBC Miami said the boat was partially submerged in the water and some passengers were standing on top waiting for help.

Alligator mating season runs from early April until the end of June, when the Sunshine State sees more activity and they become more aggressive.
