- Gabriela M 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Terrible experience. Operator was Sun Leisure World India. Guide late 1.5 hours. Offer not respected. Worst ever! I have booked the morning of 25th of March, the tour was confirmed from 12pm. I was called at 11:50 to be told the guide will be late 30 min. After many messages he showed up at 13:30. The tour was supposed to last two hours and to include red fort entrance, museum entrance, bottled water and snacks. We only had Red Fort visit, no museum (he lied first that it is closed then confessed he had not tickets), no water and no snacks. One of the most expensive tour organized by Sun Leisure World India, 12,000 INR for three people (120 £)! For you to have an idea, the entrance ticket for Red Fort is 800 INR/person. After many messages they agreed to return 1,200 INR (water, snacks and museum!) saying that 50% of 12,000 was already gone to TripAdvisor! The biggest scam in my life. Very frustrating and I feel I was robbed. Don’t use this company, please! They will spoil your day! And TripAdviser should check their vendors more carefully and not allow this type of scam. Never again. Shame on you, Sun Leisure World India and TripAdviser! Read more Written March 30, 2024

There is a childhood nostalgia, especially applicable to those who have gone through Ray's creations and movies, but beyond that there exists an enigmatic charm in the soul of Varanasi that is deeply rooted to India's culture, tradition and spirituality. Varanasi is the heart of India and I felt her heart beat reverberating. We have fallen in love with the sweet behavior and the dialect of Banarasi people! And food was heavenly - pan to Malaiyo, to Lassi to Samosa Chat and many more, all just WOW ! Words are not enough to capture our enthralling experience at Varanasi. Har Har Mahadev ! - stefanmathiasa 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Stay away from that tour - it is a scam Despite the fact that the tour had been confirmed by the tour operator and already fully been paid for by me, the tour guide elected not to show up. His explanation was that he contacted me by email on the day of the tour a few hours before scheduled starting time. I was supposed to confirm by email to him my attandance. Since I was out and about in the city of Varanasi, I did not notice. The tour had been confirmed, I had paid the full amount up front, the starting time at 5:30pm was set and the meeting point clearly stated. And yet the guide could not be bothered to show up. Tripadvisor and Viator should do a quality check on their business partners! My advice is to stay away from that tour. It is highly overprised and totally unreliable. You will apparently get some unmotivated tour guide who will just book you on a boat with the locals. You can hire a boat ride at each of the ghats for a fraction of the tour price. The best way to see the Aarti is anyway on shore. No ticket needed. Just show up at one of the ghats that perform the Aarti. Read more Written December 28, 2023

- SrilaRam 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Kashi – A legend beyond time………. Kashi or Varanasi, as it is known, a city that is uniquely, a one-of-a-kind mystery and a saga to many a visitor, whether it is a spiritual yogi on his path to know the ultimate truth, or just about another curious traveller that wants to know the sanctity of the place. Time and space, otherwise known as the Brahmand, have had their special significance here. And so is the belief of many a spiritual seeker, who is on the path to know Life’s Extent, and to experience the possibility of a merger of the Atma (the soul) with the Paramatma (the super consciousness). So then, is there really the presence of an amalgamation of the microcosm with the macrocosm, and if so, is there a mystic way to experience this, a question that lies deep within every spiritual seeker that visits Varanasi…… To every true seeker that visits kashi or Varanasi, the city not only grips them with a sense of ancientness like none other, but also reminds one of how so very ephemeral life really is – yes, ephemeral, transient, and short-lived! May be it is also right to say that, one begins to ponder on the more deeper aspects of his existence, or of his birth, and death, and the existence of the soul and possibly of its journey through the many lifetimes, through which it evolves, and thus also causing human civilization to evolve as a whole. So, what then makes kashi or Varanasi so ancient? Could it be the many old cobble-stoned narrow alleys, or may be its crowded streets, or probably the many old temples that dot the city, or could it possibly be the time immemorial ritualistic traditions that are still in vogue, or may be its age old traditional crafts…..one wonders, if all of these factors contribute to its earning, its justified title as one of the “oldest living cities” on the planet. Like the saying goes, all roads lead to Rome…..so also at kashi, every narrow alley or “gully” leads to the banks of the holy river Ganges. And what strikes the beholder is the stark beauty of its architecture, so much so that the gullies descend down a flight of steps to the rivers’ bank. It sure has been a well conceived plan, so thoroughly perfect in its architectural grandeur, to have conceived these Ghats, that in a way form the very essence of kashi. Some of the famous ghats are the Assi ghat, the last ghat and named after the Assi river of Varanasi and the Varuna ghat, named after the Varuna river, both tributaries of the Ganges. And thus the etymology of the name “Varanasi”. The Dashashwameda ghat, legend has it that it is known for the great sacrifice of ten horses done by Lord Brahma, in His potential yagna, done to appease Lord Shiva! The Tulsi ghat, the Shivala ghat, the Harischandra ghat, the kedar ghat, and the famous Manikarnika ghat. It is also much believed by the Hindus that since kashi is one of the favorite places of Lord Shiva, it is a place where when one meets his final moment, his soul attains moksha or is liberated. And so as the tradition goes, even today, the dead are cremated at the Harischandra ghat and the Manikarnika ghat, and in the old traditional way of lighting a pyre. As the story goes, it is said that, there are always burning pyres at the Manikarnika ghat, as Lord Shiva was enraged after Goddess Parvati lost her earring here and so there is ever a flame that burns here …… These ghats serve as bathing quays for many a pilgrim, that wishes to have his traditional “holy dip” in the Ganges, in the hope of getting rid of their accumulated sins of all their past lifetimes. Even until this day, these bathing ghats on the banks of the Holy river Ganges, serve for many a devout Hindu, to perform his morning prayers while chanting the mantras, standing in the river knee deep, as the rising sun rays bathe and cleanse his body, mind and soul. Legend holds it that, once there was a fight between the two mighty, holy rivers, the Ganges and the Yamuna, as to who would flow into kashi. And at Triveni Sangam, where there is a confluence of the three Holy rivers of Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswathi, it was Saraswathi that decided that Ganga would flow into kashi, but would adopt the colors of the river Yamuna, otherwise known as the green river. Thus, the Ganges, which otherwise is a white river almost until the Triveni Sangam, adopts the shade of green after that point. A must-visit list of some of the most famous temples of kashi are the following – starting from the kashi Viswanath temple, the Kasi Visalakshi temple, the Annapoorna temple, the Durga temple, the Kalabhairav temple, the Sankat Mochan temple, the Tulsi Manas Mandir, the Mrityunjay temple, the Gowri-kedareshwar temple, and the Birla Mandir, just to name a few….. Varanasi is also famous for its famous silk known as “Benares Silk”, that is woven into sarees and fabrics, that are almost a must-have addition to any Indian woman’s wardrobe collection. So also is it rich tradition of weaving, and the thread work with their traditional motifs. Another delight of Varanasi is the “Paan”, a sweet and tangy condiment, that is made from a special variety of betel leaves and betel nuts. Also, kashi is famous for its rich cow’s milk, and hence its dairy products of curd, or sweet cream, and dairy sweetmeats made out of such rich milk. So much to the old and ancient city’s rich heritage and culture. Thus, whether you are a practicing Hindu with utmost faith in Hinduism or just a backpack traveller, Varanasi or kasha, could most definitely be a must-see stopover place on your travelogues……..visit to experience the ancientness of the city, its spiritual history, and its much-deserved place in the annals of human civilization for its own subtle and yet beautiful reasons….. River Cruise on Mandovi River
Mandovi River is too close by to Panaji Kadamba Bus Terminus, just a kilometre away. God tourism boasts of its fun-filled Mandovi River Cruise as a memorable and must-do activity while in Goa for vacation. It tops the chart of tourism activities. The Mandovi River cruise starts from Santa Monica Boat Jetty and Panaji Jetty and proceeds along the course of the panoramic Mandovi River. The evening sunset cruise is the best as watching the sun dipping in the crimson river waters and lighting up the waters with a fiery glow is an experience never to be forgotten. Most of the cruises stretch till Miramar Beach point after an one-hour boat ride through the river. The cruises are a furore of activity with loud music and fantastic Goan cultural shows. The live music along with the colourful vibrant dances are truly captivating. The audience can also take part in the stage shows and shake a leg with the local dancing kings and queens. Also DJs play contemporary music for the audience to show their performance on stage. There are group and couple performances on request participated by the tourists who join from among the audience.
During the cruise, you can see the palace of Adil Shah, which is the first palace to be built in Goa. The Portuguese had occupied it later on. Weekends remain crowded and it is advisable to book tickets in advance. The dinner cruise too attracts a lot of tourists. There are also cruises that stretch till the backwaters along the mangrove-covered banks of the Mandovi River. The boats forage into the Chorao and Divar islands, that encompass the famous Dr. Salim Ali’s Bird Sanctuary at Chorao Island. It is a haven for bird lovers from far and near.

About our vessel.
Noahs Ark – is one of the Kettuvallam masterpieces floating on the serene waters of river Mandovi. Also popularly known as the House Boats in Kerala, 'Kettu' means "to tie" and 'vallam' meaning "boat", is a unique and ancient technique of boatbuilding. Noahs Ark is built using a special wooden plank of 'Iroko' also known as African teak tightened together. Legend has it that it was a British gentleman who was the brain behind building bamboo roof shades over the boats, which led to the creation of exquisite floating houses, and Noah's Ark is one such beauty! On-board Noahs Ark, your cruise will include gourmet food, excellent music, and most importantly – an exemplary experience of Goa's culture and heritage with a picturesque view of the banks of river Mandovi.
While scenic beaches, colorful shacks, water sports and a glamorous nightlife define Goa, it is also known as ‘The Pearl of the East’ for its gothic churches, crumbling forts, coconut groves, ferry rides and bubbly folk music. Rated globally among the top 10 destinations by National Geographic, it is an important locale in every tourist's itinerary. Over 450 years of Portuguese influence presents to visitors a cultural environment that is not found elsewhere in India. Goa is often described as a fusion between Eastern and Western culture. Church feasts and temple processions are marked with equal fervour. Shigmo, the Goan take on Holi, and the colourful Carnival, commemorating the advent of the holy Christian month of lent - all mark the Goan calendar. The unique celebration of St. Joao that involves wearing fruit and flower crowns and leaping into rain-filled wells, representing the Jesuit ritual of baptism, and Chikhal Kalo where people play in rainy muck, mimicking the childhood games of lord Krishna, are unique monsoon celebrations. Besides religious festivals, Goa is also known for its cultural dances, distinct arts and crafts, and delectable cuisine. You will discover such singular and stunning facts about Goa, onboard the Noah’s Ark.
From a soothing cruise to the indigenous food, from live entertainment to immersive culture, come experience Goa in its most authentic form. On-boarding Noah's Ark is one the best ways to experience the enchanting Mandovi river along with the charming capital city-Panaji, the world heritage site of Old Goa, and the adjoining village of Ribandar alongside the quaint islands of Divar and Chorao - also a bird sanctuary. Offering more than a mere journey, we take you on an experiential voyage into luxury, art, culture, and numerous stories that will help you discover Goa. Every little detail on Noah's Ark has been carefully crafted to make your cruise fulfilling.

Five river cruises you must experience in India
Amongst the rising travel trends in the country, river cruise tourism has emerged as a popular choice in India thanks to its flexibility for allowing travellers to explore the country’s diverse landscapes, vibrant cultures and rich history from a different perspective. Moreover, river cruises in India are known for their small and intimate nature, allowing passengers to enjoy a more personalised experience and creating a sense of community among passengers. This mode of vacation allows travellers to explore different destinations without the hassle of packing and unpacking, waking up to new locations each day.
The itineraries are designed to balance activities with free time, allowing passengers to indulge in peaceful solitude. The trend was further exemplified by the recent collaboration between the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board , the Government of Gujarat and the Inland Waterways Authority of India — leading to the introduction of floating jetties to experience river Narmada. Other recent announcements include dolphin-watching cruises off the Okha coast and cruises on the Sarayu River in Ayodhya. Besides the famous Ganga and Yamuna cruises, we bring you five must-experience riverine destinations across India.
1. Mandovi River Cruise
Departing from the Santa Monica Jetty in Panaji, the cruise takes passengers on a leisurely journey along the Mandovi River. As the cruise meanders through the serene surroundings, passengers can enjoy stunning views of the Goan coastline, lush greenery and historic buildings along the riverbanks. Experience the beauty of the Mandovi River in Goa with a thrilling speedboat ride to spot dolphins. Alternatively, opt for a relaxing sunset cruise aboard a two-deck boat, where you can enjoy live DJ music, a dance floor and mesmerising views of Goa. Delight in Goa sightseeing from the water and be entertained by lively Goan folk dances.
2. Chilika lake cruise
Odisha’s Barkul Chilika now hosts the state’s first luxury cruise houseboat, offering guests a lavish experience amidst the stunning beauty of Chilika Lake. The houseboat by Vikash Eco Resorts boasts six bedrooms with luxurious amenities, including four premium rooms and two suite rooms. Guests can enjoy a 24-hour package that includes an overnight stay, full board meals, activities and cruising to explore the vibrant marine ecology of Asia’s largest lake. The houseboat features two floors, with a bar and restaurant and an open-air lobby on the upper deck, providing a luxurious and immersive experience in the heart of nature.
3. Godavari river cruise
The picturesque Papi Kondalu range, visible from Koruturu in West Godavari District, gets its name from its resemblance to a well-designed partition that divides the Godavari River. Located near Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, these hills offer a scenic journey that begins with an eight-hour boat ride. The boats leave from Polavaram and cover a distance of 130km en route a Shiva Temple at Pattiseema. The Mahanandiswara Swamy Temple housing a crystal Shiva linga is also located on an island nearby. The final destination is the Papikondalu National Park, where one can witness a majestic waterfall.
4. Antara Luxury River Cruise

With a delicious food and beverage menu showcasing the specialties of the land each day, guests will also have the opportunity to explore off-shore experiences guided by an in-house expert.
5. Brahmaputra River Cruise
Operating between October and April, the MV Rudra Singha (vessel) offers a unique exploration of Assam spanning wildlife encounters to temples and tea gardens, including walks through tiny villages.
