Brandi Carlile is an American singer-songwriter from Ravensdale, Washington. Born in 1981 the folk rock singer has had two number one albums on the US Folk Music charts.
Musical pretty much since birth, Brandi Carlilie grew up listening to the likes of Johnny Cash and was encouraged to perform regularly by her mother. Learning the guitar in her teenage years, Carlilie began to take her craft more seriously and even dropped out of high school to pursue her musical passions.
Moving to Seattle, Brandi Carlile was picked up by Columbia Records in 2004 after she was seen performing at a series of music clubs throughout the city. A year later, the singer released her eponymous debut album with the label. The record was well received and won Brandi Carlile a large fan base after the album peaked at number 80 on the US Billboard 200 chart and hit the number one spot on the US Folk charts.
It wasn’t long until Brandi Carlile followed up the success of this first album with her 2007 release, “The Story”. The album peaked at number 41 on the US Billboard 200 and sold over 300,000 copies. Multiple tracks from the album were used in commercials and on television shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy”. She was also named one of Rolling Stone’s “Top 10 Artists to Watch in 2005”.
These opportunities introduced Brandi Carlile to a wider, commercial audience and this in turn helped her next two albums, 2009’s “Give Up the Ghost” and 2012’s “Bear Creek”, hit the top 30 on the Billboard 200 and the top five on the US Folk chart. “Bear Creek” actually hit the number one spot on the US Folk chart.
Brandi Carlile has toured alongside Ray LaMontagne, Hanson, Indigo Girls and Tori Amos. In 2014, Brandi Carlile was invited to sing the National Anthem at the NFL Playoff game between the Saints and the Seattle Seahawks.
Live reviews
Brandi Carlile. I just can’t get enough of this brilliant woman. Her lyrics are heartbreaking, her voice is earth shattering, and her seemingly gentle exterior makes it impossible not to love her.
The most incredible thing about the 33-year-old singer is that her voice is just as striking and brilliant live as it is on her recorded tracks, which is admirable in and of itself. Her range is so astonishingly wide and smooth in her recordings, it is hard to believe that she is able to accomplish that same perfection on stage without an engineer going in and fixing the kinks. The woman is a force to be reckoned with. Brandi is a charming performer, and you don’t even have to watch her performing to know this—you just have to watch her fans. At every live show, the audience is always quite visibly entranced by her strong stage presence, her powerful vocals, her staggering lyrics, and an unmatched ability to connect with them on an intimate level, even from the stage. During her performance of “Turpentine” at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, she begins by yelling “Sing along with us, Red Rocks!” and the crowd yells back in delight at her openness and her obvious love for them.
Brandi’s ability to permeate her audience is what makes her live performances so magnetic, and her shows have a unique atmosphere that you won’t find anywhere else.

On the current Everyone's In Pendleton Tour, Brandi and The Hanseroth brothers are in excellent form and Phil has this kick ass amplified thumper to emphasize the bass on key notes. On some choruses, they move as a line and it's very cute. Brandi has one of those big loud voices (vibrato included) and she sings with such ease. So empathetic, so inclusive, she has a devoted following with an adoring chapter in Ithaca. When she got to her signature I Was Made For You, everyone was on their feet screaming the lyrics back at her emphasized by whole body gestures and spasms. Wonderful. Backed up by classical cellist and violinist who looked totally WTF out of place, a hammering drummer in Chris Powell (whose three year old has a doll named Death), and an unbelievably joyous keyboard player in Jacob somebody, she brought it for a solid two hours. She even brought on and eleven year old busker named Conner she had listened to in The Commons during the day. We've seen her several times before, including a LAMPEDUSA benefit last year, and her life as lived is a real contribution in so many ways. Her hero Is Elton John and the band even had a go at Madman last night.
What a vocalist, what an instrumentalist. Brandi Carlile is one of the most talented folk/country musicians currently working on the circuit at the moment. Having originally been introduced to the music of Elton John, a young Brandi developed a refreshingly honest take to songwriting and placed this alongside traditional melodies to create moving pieces of music.
Now with a huge following globally, the singer confidently takes to the stage to demonstrate why she has achieved such critical and commercial acclaim in a career that spans less than ten years. From the first chilling tones of 'Again Today', she has captivated the already receptive audience as they watch on transfixed by the performer. The applauses are momentous at its finale and Carlile coyly says a quick thank you before promptly moving on.
Playing a selection of her preferable material, the crowd is ready to cheer and applaud throughout. It is a cover of 'The Chain' by Fleetwood Mac that really allows her vocal to shine and the room explodes in appreciation for this truly talented songstress.
Even as a fan this performance knocked my socks off. As a live act, and egged on by a loving, responsive and what appeared to be a sold out crowd, Brandi and her band are a tour-de-force to be reckoned with
Best part of the performance was when the twins each banged a drum to the left and right of the stage ... But there were other spine tingling and goosebump enducing moments to enjoy. I would also suggest the Shepard Bush O2 was the perfect size venue to see them play (I may endeavour to see others play here in the future
All in all so very happy I made the time and I will actively await an event I can make time to get to from her again in the future ... Word to the wise, if you have the opportunity to see Brandi Carlile play live I highly recommend you don't miss out
This is about the 10th time I have seen Brandi Carlile but my first show at the Ryman. She and the Twins did NOT disappoint. The string opening of her songs was mesmerizing. The show, from start to finish had amazing energy. I don't think I have ever been to another performers show where the crowd has been so engaged. Anyone who did not figure out that Brandi Carlile was the real deal a long time ago has be truly missing out! Another, in the long list of amazing performances. Added bonus...the special appearance by Tanya Tucker brought tears to my eyes, it was incredible!
I cannot express how happy I am that I got to see and hear Brandi Carlile play at the Greek Theatre. That voice on that soundsystem in that venue was nothing short of magical. To give you some idea of how good it was, out of all the songs that I WANTED to hear, she only played two; and I didn't care one lick because the show was THAT good. That voice is an undeniable godsend.
I obviously LOVE Brandi, but even if you "kinda like her", do not miss her if you get the chance to see her.
Great Show. Brandi was a lot of fun. It was my first time to see her, and I loved it! She was very personable & told some life stories which, no matter what some artists say, makes her very likeable. She seems super cool and Oh...what a crooner! LOVE HER VOICE!
The House of Blues Anaheim venue was very nice, HOWEVER.......It was very annoying to hear the other band playing next door during her quieter moments! I imagine SHE did not like that either!
Brandi Carlile was great opening for the Avett Brothers. She has such a powerful voice and the crowd in Minneapolis just loved her. Late in the performance, she played a tribute to Prince by performing "Nothing Compares 2 U". She followed that up with "Going to California" by Led Zeppelin. It was cool but I personally found the cover kind of strange. Not sure why, but her singing that song just seemed out of place. Overall though, great performance.
Attended her concert mostly to see her opening act, Darlingside, but I was wowed by Brandi, too! She has a powerful voice and great songs, and is very personable with the audience besides! I really enjoyed hearing her talk about her history, her wife and kids, the inspiration for different songs. I was also impressed when she stepped away from the mic to perform one song (and this was not a small concert venue). So glad I got to see her!
Brandi has the most beautiful, soulful voice around. She has come so far since her days in the 9:30 club and the audience appreciated her success with multiple standing ovations and genuine enthusiasm. She started with “Story” and ended with “Hallelujah.” Such beautiful music she makes. Brandi and her ensemble’s version of Elton John’s “Madman Across the Water” was outstanding. It was a great evening!

Pink Announces Summer 2023 Stadium Tour with Brandi Carlile, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo and More
Alt-rock band Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp will also join Pink for the 21-date Summer Carnival 2023 tour
Pink will be flying around stadiums this summer on her biggest United States tour to date!
Fresh off the release of her new single "Never Gonna Not Dance Again," the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, 43, announced on Monday that she'll be embarking on a North American stadium tour next summer alongside opening acts Brandi Carlile , Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp.
The 21-date trek, titled the Summer Carnival 2023 tour, will kick off with a July 24th concert at Rogers Centre in Toronto and hit venues in Boston, New York City, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Las Vegas before wrapping up at Chase Field in Phoenix on Oct. 9.
Tickets go on presale for Citi cardmembers from Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. local time through Nov. 20 at 11 p.m. local time. Another presale for members of the Verizon Up loyalty program will go on sale for select shows from Nov. 17 at noon local time through Nov. 20 at 11 p.m. local time. General on-sale tickets then become available Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. local time via Live Nation. More information can be found on Pink's Live Nation page .
Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp will perform as opening acts on all 21 dates, while Carlile as well as Benatar and Giraldo will each appear at select shows.
Ahead of the tour's announcement, both Pink and Carlile, 41, performed a tribute to Dolly Parton at the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last week. On Sunday, they teased the stadium tour on social media with a hilarious video filmed backstage at the event.
"Sorry, I'm not trying to ignore you. I just have to make a really important phone call," said Pink in the clip while seated alongside Carlile — before calling the "Right on Time" singer on the phone.
Both musicians greeted each other on the playfully tongue-in-cheek phone call before Pink expressed feeling "really afraid" to ask Carlile a question. "Oh, I'm married," replied Carlile with a laugh, referencing her wife of a decade, Catherine Shepherd.
"Yeah, I do love your wife," giggled Pink, "But will you go on tour with me?"
"F--- yeah!" exclaimed Carlile. "Are we doing this?"
"Yeah!" replied Pink, before the performers shared a high five and ended the pseudo call.
Last week, Pink released her latest single "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" alongside a music video. She'll give the track its live TV debut performance at the 2022 American Music Awards on Nov. 20, where she'll also perform a tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.

Inspired by the mining of Carlile’s own history while writing her #1 New York Times Best Selling memoir, Broken Horses (Crown), In These Silent Days was released via Low Country Sound/Elektra to overwhelming acclaim, with NPR Music praising, “absolutely breathtaking, across the whole album Brandi Carlile pulls out all the stops. It’s just extraordinary.” Following the release, Carlile shared a special deluxe version last fall entitled In The Canyon Haze, which features reimagined Laurel Canyon-inspired versions of each song from the album, plus a special rendition of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” (stream/purchase here ). In addition to their work as a band, Carlile and the Hanseroth twins remain committed to social activism and advocacy. Together they are founders of the Looking Out Foundation, which amplifies the impact of music by empowering those without a voice with varied initiatives including campaigns focused on Children in Conflict/War Child, The IF Project, Fund Racial Justice and more. What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Standing at Concerts
Standing and Dancing at Concerts: DPAC is proud to welcome all types of concerts to our stage. Sometimes during the course of a concert performance, audience members will show their enthusiasm by standing and dancing, especially when encouraged by the performers to do so. Unless directed by the show, we do not ever enforce a must sit policy at concerts. For most concerts, this would not be acceptable to the performers on stage who often love it when the crowd is moved enough by the performance to stand. This is especially true for rock shows and for seats closest to the stage.
Please know that DPAC does not have a “no standing” policy and in most situations will allow guests to stand even if they block the view of the stage for other guests. If your view is ever blocked by a standing or dancing guest, please contact an usher and we’ll attempt to find alternative seating.
- Most tickets buyers purchase right from our website using the Buy Ticket s button on this page.
- In addition to purchasing online, DPAC offers several other ways to purchase the seats you want to the best Broadway, concerts, comedy, family shows and special events in North Carolina.
- Our computerized ticket system enables you equal access to great DPAC seats whether you buy online, by phone, or in person at DPAC.
- For more details, visit our Purchase Seats page for complete information on purchasing great seats for all events at DPAC.
- All tickets for DPAC events are fully digital and only accessible via your mobile device. A mobile ticket is the safest, most convenient, and flexible way to receive and manage your tickets while increasing protection against fraud. To learn more about mobile entry, please visit our Mobile Entry FAQ .
Vaccination / Negative Test Result – NOT REQUIRED
- Given the declining number of cases and the declining percentage of people who test positive here in our region, this show will no longer require verification of vaccination status or a negative test result as a condition of attending events.
- DPAC continues to encourage guests to consider public health guidance or advice from their medical providers on becoming fully vaccinated, receiving the booster vaccine (if eligible) or being regularly tested before coming to an event at DPAC.
Video Screens
Currently, this event has not approved using our video screens. Please feel free to check back closer to the event for updates. If approved, we will post notice here.
For many concert, comedy, and special events at DPAC, we offer added views of the stage with two big screens (size: 16’ x 9’) hung to the sides of the stage or above the stage. These big screens can add to the visual experience of our concert, comedy, and special events and give guests seated farther from the stage what we like to call “a tenth row view”. Approval to use these screens always rests with the visiting show and about half of all concert and comedy events do use these screens.
