Château La Tour 2010 Sauternes is a Premier Grand Cru Classé dessert wine from the Bordeaux wine region. Fragrant with ripe peach, pear compote, lemon blossom and honey, this dessert wine is lush and viscous with layers of ripe peach, passion fruit, mango, candied lemon zest, brioche, fresh nut flavours, sweet and balanced with brilliant acidity. Finishes long and luxurious with a hint of minerality. So complex and good.
Food pairings: blue cheeses, lemon tarte topped with fresh berries, fresh fruit cup.

Description
A gourmet and aromatic Premier Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes
Built in the 18th century, Château La Tour Blanche is today home to the La Tour Blanche School of Viticulture and Oenology. A Sauternes First Classified Growth of 1855, the Château La Tour Blanche has belonged to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region since 2010 and has recently dedicated itself to education, while also continuing to contribute to the history of the great wines of Sauternes.
The vineyard
The 40 hectares of the estate are located on a terroir subject to the influence of the morning mists generated by the two rivers, favouring the development of botrytis cinerea, the fungus that gives rise to noble rot. Château La Tour Blanche produces elegant Sauternes wines in the shady tranquillity of its cellars, bearing the colours of the appellation.
The vintage
The harvests, though disrupted by the rain, yielded a low quantity of very high-quality grapes but with low yields. The harvest was manual and took 3 sortings.
Winemaking and ageing
Ageing was carried out in new oak barrels.
Sémillon (89%) Sauvignon Blanc (5.5%) Muscadelle (5.5%).
Colour The wine is of a beautiful straw yellow colour.
Nose The nose is intense, blending scents of lime blossom and orange blossom.
Palate Generous and gourmet, the palate delights with its scents of tarte tatin, along with fruity and fresh citrus notes. The finish reveals powdery vanilla flavours.
For the best tasting, serve at 10-11 °C.
The Château La Tour Blanche 2020 can be laid down until 2042, developing beautifully in the bottle.

Great aged Sauternes consumed 20 years after the vintage. It had been in my cellar the whole time. Rich, caramelly and perfumed. It lacked the slight bitterness that Botrytis sometimes infuses. It was loved by everyone. If it had had a little bit more acidity, it would have scored better, but that is a tough ask of a very hot vintage like 2003.

Golden. Nose of pineapple, apricot. Taste on the sweeter side, better with cheese or as dessert rather than WITH dessert. Long aftertaste. Good.
