Chhattisgarh: Major Reshuffle in Administrative Setup as 15 IAS Officers Get New Roles By Elets News Network 01-August-2023
In a significant administrative overhaul, the Chhattisgarh government has issued a transfer order affecting 15 IAS officers. Among the notable changes are the collectors of Bilaspur and Korba districts.
According to the official list, Amrit Kumar Khalkho, a senior IAS officer, has been temporarily assigned the position of Secretary in the Social Welfare Department until further notice. Furthermore, he will also hold additional responsibilities as Secretary to the Governor and Commissioner of Social Welfare.
Another key appointment includes Alarmelmangai D. taking charge as Secretary of the Labor Department. Meanwhile, Ankit Anand has been assigned the role of Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat until further instructions.
Several officers have been assigned additional charges in various departments. Yashwant Kumar will now also be the Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Mandi Board in addition to his existing duties. Similarly, Janak Prasad Pathak has been entrusted with the added responsibility of Commissioner of Town and Country Investment Commissioner. Bhim Singh will now serve as Labor Commissioner for Chhattisgarh , while Saurabh Kumar has been transferred from Bilaspur Collector to Korba district’s Collector position. The former Korba Collector, Sanjeev Kumar Jha, has been appointed as the new Collector of Bilaspur.
Furthermore, K.D. Kunjam will take on the role of Bilaspur Divisional Commissioner, and Ramesh Kumar Sharma will hold multiple responsibilities, including Director of Land Records, Printing and Stationery, Religious Trust and Endowments, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, and Controller of Food and Drug Administration.
Jitendra Kumar Shukla has been assigned as the Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and will also oversee the position of Director of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection.

Additionally, Chandan Sanjay Tripathi has been given the extra responsibility of Director of Agriculture and Officer-in-Charge of Yuva Mitan Club alongside his existing duties. Mamgai will now serve as the Korba Municipal Corporation Commissioner. On the other hand, Prabhakar Pandey, the Commissioner of Korba Municipal Corporation, will now take on the role of Chief Executive Officer of Mungeli District Panchayat. Meanwhile, Abhishek Kumar has been appointed as the Commissioner of Ambikapur Municipal Corporation.

Chhattisgarh, TOFTTigers Host Workshop on Sustainable Tourism
Chhattisgarh Tourism, in collaboration with TOFTigers, recently organised a workshop on Sustainable Tourism, Best Practices in the Hospitality Industry, and Evaluation. The workshop was inaugurated by Vice Chairman, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chitrarekha Sahu and MD Anil Kumar Sahu.
“It was a good platform to get all stakeholders together, to think of ways in which sustainable Tourism can grow in the state and create livelihood opportunities for the locals,” Chairman Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Atal Srivastava said.
The workshop aimed to address the importance of sustainable tourism practices in preserving our natural and cultural heritage. Participants engaged in insightful discussions and gained valuable knowledge on implementing sustainable initiatives within their respective organizations.
The speakers for the workshop were Ritu Makhija, TOFTigers Director Sustainability, and along with Chindu Chandran, TOFTigers Green Team Member and a Research Scholar. They shared their expertise and experiences, providing practical insights and case studies of successful sustainable tourism projects. Their presentations emphasized the integration of sustainable practices within the hospitality industry and highlighted the instrumental role of certification in driving responsible tourism.
Anil Kumar Sahu expressed immense delight at the workshop’s resounding success, saying, “We are thrilled with the success of this workshop and the level of engagement demonstrated by the participants. By bringing together industry professionals and promoting sustainable practices, we are fostering a responsible tourism culture that will benefit Chhattisgarh’s tourism industry in the long run,” Sahu said.
Dr. Shubdha Chaturvedi, Head – Communications and, Marketing & Promotions, stated that “Chhattisgarh Tourism remains steadfast commitment to promoting responsible and sustainable tourism, ensuring the preservation of the state’s rich cultural heritage and pristine natural landscapes. In tandem, TOFTigers continues to play a pivotal role in advocating and supporting responsible tourism practices, contributing to wildlife conservation and forest preservation across the Indian subcontinent.”
