There is no right or wrong answer to this question, and the number of fixtures that you choose to play is entirely dependant on the needs and priorities of your particular team.

Umpires and officials can typically be organized through the host school, club or team that you select, but it is another important aspect to consider.

Everything worked perfectly! The hotel was good, it was a short walk down a nearby lane to a tram stop on Collins St, it was a few minutes on the tram to the Jolimont/MCG stop, and then a short walk to the MCG.  Our gate was the first one we came to, entry was a breeze, walked straight onto an escalator and got off near the members area, and then a very short walk to the seats.  As we sat down on the morning of the first day, I was just amazed at how easy it had all been. Great seats, too. We were fortunate to have first travelled on the Australian Cricket Tour of the West Indies 1995 when the two 'big-boys' of world cricket still played 4 Test Matches, in four of the region's 5 Test nations.

30 years on, we hope to play 3 Tests from a lottery of 10 test nations, along with 6 white ball games. It's impossible to guess where we'll play but hope for Barbados , Antigua , St Kitts ,  St Lucia , St Vincent, Grenada , and Dominica .

The tiny proud nations filled with gorgeous beaches, swooping palms, awesome seafood, beach parties, rum shacks & catamaran day trips. Rainforests, volcanoes, waterfalls, and sugarcane plantations (that create each island's signature rum) are perfect backdrops for  West Indies Cricket Tours  filled with music, passion, and love for the game.

New York's cricket stadium, which is being purposefully built for June's T20 World Cup and will host the money-spinning India and Pakistan blockbuster, will cost around $30 million, according to sources, with tournament officials confident on a return of investment.

The 34,000-seat modular Nassau County Stadium in Eisenhower Park, 30 miles east of Manhattan, is currently under construction ahead of the T20 World Cup starting on June 1 with an opening match between the U.S. and Canada in Dallas.

New York will host eight games in the group stage with its first match on June 3 between South Africa and Sri Lanka, while cricket powerhouse India will play against Ireland, Pakistan and the U.S.

There has been a tight timeline with construction starting less than three months ago. It is set to be completed in early May with a test event on the 27th.

The stadium is expected to cost T20 Incorporated, the entity established in the U.S. to deliver the event with governing body USA Cricket amid ongoing tumult , around $30 million but officials are understood to be confident that costs will be comfortably recouped through ticketing and hospitality.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) declined to comment on costings.

It is unsurprising that India, cricket's undisputed powerhouse, will be mostly based in New York during the tournament's early stages marked by the marquee fixture with rival Pakistan on June 9.

Previous contests over the past decade have been watched by a viewership of between 300-500 million, with the intense rivalry milked at ICC events as the teams do not play against each other in bilateral cricket due to political differences .

The New York match between foes has predictably been the hottest ticket of the tournament after being oversubscribed more than 200 times the allocation in the public ballot. A standard ticket cost $175, while the standard plus was priced at $300 and premium rose to $400.

Resale tickets on StubHub are currently starting at $2000, while there have been reports on social media of exorbitant hospitality packages.

It is understood that discussions are being held over third party use of the ground post the T20 World Cup.

Cricket infrastructure has been needed to be built given the sport's uniquely shaped grounds. Baseball fields are difficult to convert due to its narrow dimensions.

Finding suitable infrastructure in New York had proven troublesome. Initially, there had been plans to develop a 34,000-seat stadium in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. New York City Mayor Eric Adams supported the divisive proposal , with critics opposing the loss of public space to a private tournament.

But Eisenhower Park, a purpose-built sports and events park, has filled the breach with architectural design firm Populous tasked with developing this much-hyped stadium.

The grandstands, previously used for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, have been repurposed, while all the matches will be played during the day with no floodlights installed.

A drop-in pitch was built in Florida under the guidance of experienced curator Damian Hough, who is based in Adelaide, Australia.

The U.S. has been deemed a target market by the sport's power brokers, with the ICC stating there are already 50 million cricket fans in a country with growing South Asian communities.

It has led to significant, potentially game-changing developments hoped to finally put U.S. on the cricket map, including the launch of well-heeled T20 franchise league Major League Cricket, which surpassed financial expectations in its debut season last year.

After being at the heart of grandiose proposals for some time - former Australia cricket boss James Sutherland once had a rather audacious idea for the T20 World Cup to be held at Central Park - New York will finally be at the center of cricket in June.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that its national side will tour New Zealand next year to play three ODIs and five T20 Internationals. The series, the sixth between the two nations since 2023, was finalized during a meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) CEO Scott Weenink in Lahore on the sidelines of the ongoing five-match T20I rubber. During the meeting, it was in principle decided to conduct the tour after the 2025 Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan. The meeting was also attended by PCB COO Salman Naseer and Director International Cricket Usman Wahla.

With the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon, the 34,000-seat modular cricket stadium in Nassau County , New York is inching closer towards completion.

A new timelapse released by the International Cricket Council shows incredible progress on the stadium's construction, which began in January. Video footage from April shows that much of the seating of the general stands has been set up while the ground has also been leveled and prepared for the games that are scheduled to begin on June 1.

ICC, in a news release Thursday , said the turf outfield has also been laid and "preparation work" on the ground has been completed while the "installation of the pitches begins next week."

The ICC released the timelapse video on Instagram .

The stadium has been roughly divided into three different sections: the general stands on the east and west sides of the stadium for audiences and fans, the players locker rooms to the north with the hospitality and VIP boxes next to them, and the operations offices and media and broadcast areas in the south, close to the Nassau Aquatic Center.

“It is incredible to see what has been accomplished in just a few short months," T20 USA, Inc. CEO Brett Jones said in a statement. "The stands are up, the seats are in, the technology is being installed, the outfield has been laid and the pitches are on their way."

"We can’t wait to welcome the world to this incredible venue this June," he added.

The stadium is expected to be complete by May 21, according to the timeline released by the ICC. A test event will be played at the venue on May 27, while the first match at the venue, Sri Lanka vs. South Africa would be played on June 3.

What to know about the 2024 T20 World Cup

Fifty-five matches will be played across nine cities – three in the U.S. and six in the Caribbean, according to the ICC, with the opening match between Canada and the U.S. to be held on June 1 at Grand Prairie Stadium in the Dallas metro area, and the grand finale on June 29 in Barbados. The semifinals will take place in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.

England enters the year as defending champions, having beaten Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup final in Melbourne. The series will mark U.S., Canada and Uganda's first appearances at a Men's T20 World Cup.

General tickets for the 2024 T20 World Cup matches in both the U.S. and the West Indies are available to purchase on the tournament website . While tickets for popular matches, such as the opening match between the U.S. and Canada and the highly anticipated Pakistan vs. India have sold out, tickets for other matches continue to be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. • The Kiwis romped to a seven-wicket win in the third match in Rawalpindi to level the series on Sunday.
• Pakistan won the second match at the same venue with the same margin on Saturday.

Goodbye for now

After the series began on a rather damp squib in the first T20I washout in Rawalpindhi, it has certainly provided plenty of drama and action.

Both sides landed heavy blows to take it right down to the final game of the series.

If New Zealand won, they would have come away with a 3-1 series victory, which would have been highlighted further with the new recruits at hand.

But it wasn’t meant to be as Pakistan held their nerve and used their bowlers judiciously to end up tying the series, which in the end is a fair reflection of how it all went these past few weeks.

‘I felt we were 10 runs short but it was still a par score’

Victorious Pakistan captain Azam shared his thoughts: “The fast bowlers were getting swing early on. After the powerplay, Usama got help from the wicket. We did what we felt best according to the situation”

“We used eight bowlers today and four of them were spinners. It becomes difficult when you have so many options.”

“Maddy [Imad] has great experience. If he doesn’t bowl in the powerplay, he can bowl in the middle overs. Usama Mir bowled a brilliant spell today.”

“The new ball came on nicely to the bat. The way we planned, it didn’t go accordingly. I felt we were 10 runs short but it was still a par score.”

“Throughout the series we tried different combinations. We tinkered with the batting order. We tried different bowlers at different stages. We will focus on where we can improve.”

‘To lose the wickets there cost us’

Losing New Zealand skipper Bracewell, provided his thoughts as well: “It is a pretty fair reflection of the series [the tied result]. It has been close fought. Happy to come here and learn to play in these different conditions. Credit to Pakistan for winning the game.”

“We lost a couple of wickets there in the middle. Shaheen and Usama bowled particularly well. To lose the wickets there cost us.”

“We take a huge amount of positives [from the series]. To expose the guys to certain world class players [and] always good to take experience from playing in different conditions and against a quality side.”

“You are playing against some great players and different conditions from home. How we adapted from game to game is also pretty special.”

‘I try to mix things up but [the] yorker is the best ball in this format’

Shaheen, for his four for 30, is adjudged Player of the Match and had this to say at the post-match presenation: “Whatever is happening, it’s good for the team. I try to strike with the ball [and] also try to contribute with the bat and in the field.”

“The ball was keeping a bit low and so we focused on bowling wicket-to-wicket and it worked. When the ball is reversing, I try to mix things up but [the] yorker is the best ball in this format.”

Pakistan square series with nine-run victory

It all looked improbable when New Zealand started so brightly in the first half of this innings.

Despite getting Blundell out early, Seifert and Bracewell put on 76 for the second wicket to steer the ship.

New Zealand were well ahead of the equation at that point when they reached 97 for two.

But that is when Pakistan’s spinners and Shaheen came roaring back, taking wickets at regular intervals as New Zealand’s innings began to crumble.

In the space of 72 runs, New Zealand lost eight further wickets.

Shaheen’s four for 30 and Usama’s two for 21 were the standout performances from the bowlers.

The fielder gets to it, but can’t steer it away from hitting the rope.

Sears gets a fullish length, and just like Sodhi is unable to get bat on ball.

Shaheen goes up again, but this time the umpire is unmoved.

Pakistan decide to review late, but replays confirm impact was outside leg.

Shaheen is showing why he is considered one of the best in the world.

Bowling round the wicket, Sodhi tries to keep out another fullish length, but misses the ball.

Shaheen goes up right away for leg before, and the umpire deems it so.

Imad into the attack and delivers first ball as he gets McConchie leg before wicket.

The umpire straightaway raises his finger, kicking off scenes of euphoria.

But New Zealand, maybe more out of desperation than anything, call for a review.

Replays confirm there was no bat on it, and ball tracking shows the ball hitting the stumps, so McConchie is soon on his way.

The Men's T20 World Cup takes place in West Indies and the USA in June, with England returning as defending champions for an event expanded to 20 teams.

Every match will be live on Sky Sports , starting with the tournament opener between USA and Canada in Grand Prairie, Texas on Sunday June 2 and concluding with the final in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday June 29.

How did teams qualify?

West Indies and USA earned automatic entry by being hosts, with the latter to now play in the tournament for the first time, while England, Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Australia, South Africa, Netherlands and Sri Lanka secured their places by finishing in the top eight of the previous T20 World Cup in 2022.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh were then included after being the next two highest teams in the T20I rankings, with every other spot determined by regional qualifiers.

Ireland and Scotland came through the European section and Papua New Guinea emerged from the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.

Canada - who will also make their tournament debut - progressed through the Americas Qualifier, while Nepal and Oman are the Asian qualifiers, with Namibia and Uganda coming through the African Qualifier to complete the line-up.
