Very good gym in the heart of city…

Very good gym in the heart of city centre. They should provide at least one d - cline machine bench and some space for bodybuilding posing with mirrors.some bodybuilding and fitness posters should be on the walls(male & female)some purifying green plants.Star awards for every month for good responsible behaviour by putting their photo on notice board. Appreciate members by choosing the most Muscular or fittest male - female category by giving them titles as Mr pure gym or Miss pure gym, etc..... Goodluck

Effective and satisfactory

I’ve been going to pure gym on and off for years and always worked well for what I needed, 24 hour access is great! A variety of classes are also accessible. Pure gym in the city could do with a few gum equipment replacing (squat machine) it’s also very spacious with 3 floors I’ve also been to pure gym at kingsway and they have new equipment and changing rooms. A 2nd pure gym in derby was definitely needed.

Great, clean Gym!

Great, clean gym, lots of equipment available. A good variety of classes. Open 24 hours which suits me great! Never had a problem with anything. All equipment is easy to use. Locker rooms are kept clean and tidy as are the toilets. I feel safe and confident working out. Everyone is very approachable and friendly.

Excellent gym... but

Excellent gym. Great staff. My only issue is people sitting on equipment I'm waiting to use just texting on their phone or having a conversation with another person. I think it would be a good idea to have signs in the gym displaying gym etiquette as it's really annoying. Apart from that I really enjoy going there.

It's fine I guess

It's fine I guess. Does get a little crowded and sometimes the unwashed men make me want to throw up and they could do with a hack squat machine and sometimes it's too warm in the Cardio section. But ya know tis a cheap gym so whatever.

Pros & cons

Pros: • good quality equipment • refreshments (drinks etc) • clean facilities • some nice staff Cons • need more then 1 equipment machine as when it’s busy you having to wait for ages • more space • more useful equipment such as a hip thrust machine

Great location for me as a senior citizen central and free bus travel to get there,have been here in Derby since it opened great atmosphere and manager Jake

PureGym - Derby

PureGym is a great gym with wonderful staff members. My only concern is that the training equipment needs maintaining better and cleaning stations needs filling up every day.

PureGym Derby City Centre - great staff, sad gym

Been a member of this gym for 8 years, and have seen a steady decline since Covid, with a lack of investment and good staff leaving. The gym goes weeks waiting for equipment to be fixed. The lift has been broken for months and has stopped disabled members from accessing the gym. Staff are difficult to retain, and the ones left now work so hard to keep it clean and fix equipment when they can. But the gym needs a massive refurbishment plan, new equipment and better management of the clientele (we have a lot of Derby College kids that abuse the membership by sharing access codes).

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. I've been a member of puregym at this…

I've been a member of puregym at this site for 7/8 years now and have always been happy with it. Unfortunately over the last 8 weeks or so the standard of everything is slowly deterirating. Music is very intermittent over the last 2 months front doors not operating properly temperature inside the gym is usually cold ( even had to borrow a hoodie to wear on one occasion). The worse thing though is the standard of hygiene in the showers and changing room. Dirty most the time and disgusting on occasions. I've now bought some flip flops to wear when in the shower. On the plus side the staff are friendly and helpful.

You are really a fraud and scammer. In the advertisements, you said that you do not receive a participation fee and there is a fifty percent discount in the first month. But it was all a lie and you bought me 30 ponds . And most of the items and supplies at the gym are broken and work very poorly. I regretted Dan, whom I stayed with you very much.

Great little gym.

Great little gym. I asked for a tour as I was in the market for a new membership. Jake, whom I believe is the manager, was absolutely brilliant. He was inquisitive without being pushy. I was made to feel so comfortable, in a situation in which I could have felt particularly nervous or vulnerable. Honestly, he is such an asset to the place. It’s always clean and tidy here, and the facilities in the changing rooms are too. I will say that the showers Huron at a very high temperature, but that’s my only gripe. Very satisfied.

Good environment for physical fitness

spacious, reasonable amount of equipment, good staffs and variety of optional activities.

Almost 8-9 out of 10

In terms of equipment, it's got just about everything you need, is serviceable and clean. Toilet and showering facilities could be cleaner, locker area is generally clean and tidy. My main issue is the atmosphere. I feel as though gym users are quite guarded, particularly female gym users, I've noticed the poster campaign around the gym around harassment, so I assume there has been issues there. It doesn't feel like a community, or perhaps it's just not my type of training environment.

I don't like it

I don't like it. There is no one to complain to about people. There were several people who did not use machines, just sitting and playing on their phones.

should be called pure ego

Should be rebounded as pure ego. Cheap budget gym however there is never enough equipment to meet demand and it is unsafe to use. Equipment is constantly broke and I have once got injured due to faulty machines where the cable snapped. Manager refused to take any accountability You got people hogging machines or equipment/weights for upto an hour

Amazing gym great environment to work out

PureGym announces opening date for new Kingsway Retail Park branch

A new PureGym will open at Kingsway Retail Park next month, it has been confirmed. The British-founded company already operates one Derby branch by The Spot just outside the Derbion shopping centre.

The new branch at Kingsway Retail Park will create a dozen new jobs and is set to open on Friday, November 24 . The expansion plan means the company will soon have two gyms in the city - with a third planned for the Meteor Centre retail park next year.

The 13,000 sq.ft gym will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will have free Wi-Fi for those working out. Inside the gym, there will be a range of equipment, including an Olympic weightlifting platform, dumbbells up to 50kg, air-con, classes and many plate-loaded machines.

Unlike the Derbion branch , it will offer free parking which may attract new customers who formerly didn't want to pay to park at Derbion or walk into the city centre. The current nearest PureGym to Derby which isn't in the city centre is in Heanor.

PureGym is among the most popular gym chains in the UK. It is one of the cheapest, with no contract required to sign up and monthly memberships starting at below £20 for off-peak times.

In terms of equipment, it's got just about everything you need, is serviceable and clean. Toilet and showering facilities could be cleaner, locker area is generally clean and tidy. My main issue is the atmosphere. I feel as though gym users are quite guarded, particularly female gym users, I've noticed the poster campaign around the gym around harassment, so I assume there has been issues there. It doesn't feel like a community, or perhaps it's just not my type of training environment.

I don't like it

I don't like it. There is no one to complain to about people. There were several people who did not use machines, just sitting and playing on their phones.

should be called pure ego

Should be rebounded as pure ego. Cheap budget gym however there is never enough equipment to meet demand and it is unsafe to use. Equipment is constantly broke and I have once got injured due to faulty machines where the cable snapped. Manager refused to take any accountability You got people hogging machines or equipment/weights for upto an hour

Amazing gym great environment to work out

Amazing gym from my first visit feeling a bit intimidated by the gym to where I am now can’t wait to come and do my workout have my p t session always wanting the best for me teaching the moves the correct way to then be used in future workouts great gym company with great benefits
