At some point, you may decide that it is time to replace the seats in your Dodge Journey to enhance your driving experience. When choosing new seats, you have the option of going with similar replacement seats or going with aftermarket seats that may have additional features. Whatever type of seat you go with, you still want to make sure that they will fit in your Dodge Journey and keep you and your passengers safe.

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning an OEM part was made by the same manufacturer that made the original vehicle part. An OEM seat will have the same appearance as the original seats, making your vehicles interior look fresh and clean. Additionally, the original seats were required to undergo certain types of testing to ensure that they were safe for drivers and passengers.

There are four types of back seats to choose from for your Dodge Journey. They include:

• Manual seats: These seats are generally stuck in a stationary position. In some cases, you may be able to manually adjust the backrest.
• Power seats: These seats have buttons on the side that let you adjust the seat to whatever position is comfortable for you.
• Bench seats: These benches are designed to fit snugly in the back seat of your Dodge. The seats are usually connected together. Many bench seats for the Journey also fold down, increasing the capacity of your trunk space when you need to haul a large number of items.
• Bucket seats: These seats hold passengers more securely. They come with built-in seat belts for safety.

If you choose to go with power seats to enhance your Journey, there are several features that you may want to consider adding, including:

• Heat: If your Journey did not originally come with heated seats, you can install aftermarket seats that feature this option. Heated seats make driving in the winter more comfortable for you, especially if you have to be in the car for long periods of time.
• Additional cushioning: Some aftermarket seats have different types of foam in them, making them more comfortable for drivers and passengers.
• Lumbar support: If you have an achy back from driving, adding seats in your Journey that have additional lumbar support can help prevent a sore back.

Hi guys, I own DJ 2009 SE. i would like to replace seats with the leather ones from R/T. Is it just plug and play or there are specific sizes etc ? Those leather ones I've found are from 7ppl diesel 2009. The driver seat has electronic settings, mine is manual. Is it even possible?

I'm sure it is possible. Not sure if you have the air bags in the seats on either one, but I've heard on other vehicles, disconnecting the electrical connector will set off the air bag light and only the dealer can reset it. Probably the brackets are the same since the only changes are appearance.

How about the electonic settings vs manual one? Is there just a cable that I should connect or its more complicated?

Look under the seat and see if a connector is there. Otherwise, you will have to figure out how to run a wiring harness to it.

There are a lot of wires on the right side. However I guess they are for the airbag?

Probably. Air bag, seat belt warning light.

You could always go with a set from Katzkin Leather. You can purchase a set through your dealer, or on their website. Pricing is salty, but they would be made for your seats and you wouldn't have to be concerned with any electronics. Search eBay: dodgejourneyleather. I found a set for my Nitro at a dealer in NY. Someone ordered them, but never had them installed. I got them for what the dealer paid for them, and had a local upholstery shop install them. Then, I resold my cloth coverings on eBay.

Yeah, I've read about the Katzkins... However I can buy a set of seats for aprox $400 and Katzkins are at least twice as much... BTW: I've dig the e-bay and found some used OEM leather covers, does it mean you can take them of? So in case the electronics etc won't fit I can just "switch" the covers?

Yes, you can just switch the covers. There is a tool that you need to reattach the new covers to the seats, and it is a lot easier to remove the seats to swap out the covers. The seats that have air bags in them: the material is designed to split as the air bag inflates. I would compare year to year as to what changes were made with side bolster air bags and active headrests. Even if it were cheaper to purchase the whole seat set, shipping would have to be figured in. The Katzkin covers for my Nitro came in a big box.
