The guys totally rocked the Absolute 80's weekender at Butlin's Minehead with a barnstorming performance of old hits and covers old and new. Sadly none of lead-singer Peter Cox's solo material but hey that was 90's.

One of the best live 80's bands still doing world tours. If you haven't seen them live, you really should.

As usual go West we're excellent Nik Kershaw teams up well with go West I thought cutting crew were very good and could have listened to more from them this concert has also some very good 80s well know tracks to sing along to in short a really enjoyable evening leaving me and wife very happy

Icons of the 80's - Wow, what an amazing gig. Started off with cutting crew doing their own set, setting the night up. Followed by Go West and the mighty Nik Kershaw sharing the stage on and off throughout the night. Playing separate and together. Also doing songs from Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, Eurythmics amongst others. Everyone on their feet for pretty much the whole 2 hours singing and dancing along. A proper 80's party. Was just awesome, Luvved it.

A message from our Chief Executive, Phil Caldwell:

What a wonderful feeling it is for us all to be getting back to normality! And almost exactly two years after the travel and tourism world imploded almost overnight, and the ‘overnight’ became longer and longer, despite many false dawns. As the collective weight lifts from our shoulders, it is like walking from that long, dark night into a bright new spring morning, a morning offering hope for rebirth and renewal and better times ahead.

First of all I would like to send my heartfelt and sincere thanks to all of our partners who have kept in touch with us over this awful period. This has meant so much to us, as through the various text, email and other messages we knew that when the time for recovery came our partners and friends would be waiting too, waiting to relaunch and return to how things used to be. This really kept us all going.

We also motivated ourselves by doing a lot of essential ‘housekeeping’, cleaning up in-house systems and migrating to the next generation of Tourplan, the NX cloud-based system, so that we will be even more efficient than before and add a presentational freshness to our output and offerings. We are very excited about putting this to good use as we see enquiries and bookings coming in, and are sure you will notice a very positive difference.

But that won’t impact on the former, long-standing Go West ethos of being service-led in everything we do, except in a positive way. We know this is why we are still alive and well after 32 years of operations, serving groups from all over the world.  Offering competitive tailor-made arrangements with top service and a smile on our faces will very much remain the cornerstone of how we work.

Finally a thought for all those who were forced to leave the industry during the pandemic – some 60 million people worldwide according to estimates. This is a tragedy and let us hope that all of them fare well, with many finding re-employment in the industry as the recovery gains pace.

Peter Cox and Richard Drummie first met in 1974. They signed as songwriters with ATV Music in 1982 and as recording artists Go West with Chrysalis Records two years later. Their debut single, We Close Our Eyes, was released in the Spring of 1985. It reached number 5 in the UK charts and became a top 10 hit in the USA. This overnight success was followed by three further UK top 10 hits – Call Me, Goodbye Girl and Don’t Look Down. The album Go West sold 2 million copies worldwide and remained on the UK chart for 83 weeks, establishing them as one of the finest song-writing partnerships to emerge in the 80’s. In 1986 they won the BRIT Award for ‘Best British Newcomer’ – the one BRIT which was decided by the listening public. Six albums and 20 million sales later, Go West are stronger than ever.

They have enjoyed numerous chart singles worldwide, notably King Of Wishful Thinking, the opening song in the extremely successful film Pretty Woman. The film’s soundtrack has sold over 10 million copies. King Of Wishful Thinking received ASCAP Awards in 1991 and 1992 as one of the most played songs on American radio. Faithful, the second single from their Indian Summer album, received similar BMI Awards in 1992 and 1993. The year 2020 was the 35th anniversary of the release of their first album, Go West, and the band were due to tour to celebrate this, but due to Covid this had to be re-scheduled. The band played live shows all around the UK in 2022 and 2023, including 4 hugely successful Orchestral shows with The Southbank Sinfonia. A special edition box set was released to coincide with this tour. In 2024 the band are embarking on a two week co-headline tour of the UK with Wet Wet Wet, followed by a joint tour of New Zealand and Australia with Nik Kershaw. Go West have carried on captivating audiences all over the world for the past four decades. They have certainly earned their reputation as an outstanding, exciting live act.

GO WEST (GWst)

We head west for an away-from-the-crowds New York eats tour. Tour usually runs as a lunch tour from mid-March to mid-December. Allow about 3.5 hours. Tour meets near 8th Av. at 50th St. One ride or unlimited MetroCard or OMNY is required for the tour but NO SUBWAY RIDE is required in 2024. Tour ends near Times Square in Manhattan.

This is a scheduled public tour with individual ticket sales and each guest requires a ticket.  Public tours do not run during winter from early January to mid-March but you can book a private tour based on availability. The calendar code of this tour is GWst. This tour is also available to be booked as private or group tour by contacting Food On Foot Tours directly. This tour is not currently using the subway. When we return to the subway a MetroCard (subway pass) or per-ride OMNY (One Metro New York) contactless credit, debit, reloadable prepaid card or digital wallet on your mobile phone payment system is required.

We are a QUALITY FRESH FOOD EATING TOUR. We are not a sampling, gourmet, food preparation or history tour. We talk about the neighborhoods to give you a flavor (we had to do it) of the area but we are all about the eating and meeting others. You choose what you like at each stop and how much with either a ticket with a food credit included or you can pay-as-you-go (most people spend about $20 per person on the tours). The tour will replace a meal and maybe two meals if you’re really full. There’ll be plenty of food on the tour. All our stops are a surprise. The anticipation is part of the fun. We want you to experience the city the way New Yorkers do at the smaller authentic places where locals eat. There are sometimes waits at each stop while food is prepared and all our guests finish. That’s why we are a true meet mingle tour. We designed the tours to give you time to take in real non-tourist New York neighborhoods in a relaxed manner while meeting others.

Helpful Tips For Go West Food On Foot Tour

• This tour includes walking. A subway pass or OMNY payment is NOT required in 2024.
• All our tours end within walking distance of the subway.
• You choose what you like and how much at every stop. You eat WHAT YOU LIKE!
• Our tours go up to 40 people and are designed differently than a standard food tour.
• Our tours are surprise tours. We don’t tell you the stops because the anticipation of the next stop is more fun.
• Our stops are brick and mortar (storefronts). We do not go to food trucks.
• Our stops are all local and sometimes small.
• This tour has a minimum of four stops and includes one or more sweet stops.
• All or most stops have vegetarian options depending on the tour. We cannot guarantee vegan options. 
• Gluten free options are available at some but not all stops. Check with us before you book because tour stops can change.
• Tours are rain or shine.
• Not all stops have seating but we will accommodate you if needed, when possible.
• Come hungry and eat a light breakfast. This tour runs most often as an early lunch/lunch tour.

Meeting The Tour

Accessibility, Transportation & Tickets

• Meeting points are clearly noted and simple directions are given on your confirmation to help you meet the group. Tour meets outside on W. 50 th St. near 8 th Av. Exact meeting point is on your confirmation.
• Your confirmation is your ticket. The tour guide will have a list with your name. There are no physical tickets.
• This tour requires no subway ride in 2024. During other times you must show up with your subway pass or payment ready system. Tours will not wait for you to purchase your card. It is not fair to people who show up on time to be waiting.
• You must arrive 15 minutes early for check-in. If you do not, you risk missing the tour and we do not issue refunds under ANY circumstances. Our tickets are the same as any concert, performance or sporting event. They do not issue refunds if you don’t show up or are late and neither do we. 
• Since we are dealing with restaurants and transit, tour times are realistic estimates only.
• Unlike some tours our guide will not just leave you. At the end of the tour your guide will give you directions (by subway or walking) to your next stop. Tour lengths listed do not include return to your next stop once the tour ends.
• We always have at least one stop with a toilet but we recommend you leave extra time at arrival to use the facilities at or near whatever location we are meeting at. Accessible public toilets cannot be guaranteed at the meeting point. 
• This tour is handicapped accessible. Since we do not have our own facilities, we must work within the parameters of the city itself to accommodate special requests. You must contact us before you purchase your tickets to see if we can accommodate you.
• We offer different ticket levels based on cancellation options and whether you’d like food included or you’d prefer to pay-as-you-go. No matter what ticket you pick you choose what you like on the tour.
• If you choose a pay-as-you go ticket or have any ticket where food is not included or we recommend having at least twenty dollars cash in person in smaller bills.
• If you are getting tickets through a partner program, only the type of tickets offered by that program are valid for that tour. Tickets CANNOT be changed once purchased. TICKETS ARE CONSIDERED A PURCHASE. WE DO NOT ACCEPT RESERVATIONS. Check your program for details and requirements. Your booking agreement also has those details. All partner program tickets require a cancellation fee if there is a cancellation option offered. 
• Tickets are sold via our website and we recommend advance purchase as tours often sell out. Walk-ups are welcome based on availability for Gold Tickets only. Walk-up tickets are cash only and exact change is required. Meeting point is noted on the website calendar, not the booking calendar, by clicking on this tour.

Glenfinnan & Glencoe

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8.30am.

This tour will take you through most beautiful landscape.

Our first stop is Castle Stalker, scenic castle surrounded by water is believed to have been belonging to the MacDougalls when they were Lords of Lorn and built around 1320.

We then drive to Glenfinnan which is perhaps best known for the railway viaduct featured in a Harry Potter movie. You can climb the hill to get a full view of Jacobite Steam Train. A short walk across the road will take you to Glenfinnan monument erected in a 1815 as a memorial of the Jacobite Uprising in 1745.

Our tour continues to one of most beautiful places in Scotland, Glencoe. We will stop at the Three Sisters of Glencoe one of the most prominent features of the Highlands. Leaving the 3 sisters we take a road to Glen Etive with the stunning views and majestic Buacchaile Etive More mountain ridge. The road was used as a location for Skyfall.

As we are making our way back towards Oban we will drive through Rannoch Moor, Loch Awe and south banks of Loch Etive.

Castle Tours

This tour will start with an 8.30 pick up from your hotel.

We will drive to Dunstaffanage Castle one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland and the former stronghold of the MacDougalls. Built around 1220 by Duncan MacDougall, the son of Earl Somerled known as “King of the Isles”.

A short drive from here we will visit Castle Stalker a small fortified building belonging to the MacDougalls when they were Lords of Lorn built around 1320.

Leaving Castle Stalker we drive through Loch Awe and stop at Kilchurn Castle which is a ruined structure. It was first constructed in the mid 15th century as the base of the Campbells of Glenorchy.

Next stop St. Conan’s Kirk. The Kirk is unique in having an example of almost every style of church architecture. The Norman doorway, the Gothic flying buttresses, a Celtic cross, the Arts and Crafts carvings, the Saxon tower and a stone circle.

Inveraray Tour

The day will start with an 8.30am pick up from your place of accommodation.

The journey will take you along south bank of Loch Etive and Loch Awe until we reach our first stop; Inveraray Castle.

Inveraray Castle is a country house on the shore of Loch Fyne, Scotland’s longest sea loch. Home to the Duke of Argyll, Chief of Clan Campbell since 18th century.

Next up on our journey is Inveraray Jail. The jail was open in 1820 and it was prison and courthouse; closed in 1889 it is now a living museum.

On the way back to Oban we will stop at Kilchurn Castle where you will have opportunity to take photos and learn a bit about its history.

In just three days, this Moscow itinerary takes in all the most iconic sights of this attraction-packed destination. After two and half days getting acquainted with the city, we’ve set time aside for you to explore Moscow your way and discover your own favourite hang-outs in a city overflowing with hidden treasures

3-Day Moscow Tour Highlights:

• Panoramic Tour of Moscow: See Moscow beyond the postcard images on a private excursion by car through the city streets including a drive along the banks of the Moskva River. Visit the famous Bolshoi Theatre, pass by Gorky Park and the Novodevichy Convent, and admire the city from on high at the Sparrow Hill observation platform.
• Moscow Historical City Centre Guided Walking Tour : Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of one of the world’s biggest metropolises and discover local haunts on foot, including the Red Square, the Kremlin and the multi-coloured domes of St Basil’s Cathedral.
• Armory Chamber tour: Explore the endless treasures of this unique museum, displaying the wealth accumulated by Russian rulers from the 12th century until the October Revolution of 1917. Walking through the exhibition halls is a journey through the centuries.
• Moscow Metro Tour : Go deep underground on a subway tour of the famous Moscow metro. The world’s deepest metro system is renowned for its palatial, art-adorned stations, complete with marble columns and chandeliers.

On your first day, you’ll be treated to a panoramic, drive-by tour of Moscow to get a feel for the immense scale of one of the world’s most rapidly developing urban centres. The city’s history unfolds in real-time as you pass lavish imperial mansions, solemn Soviet structures and luxurious modern shopping centres.

Day two kicks off exploring Moscow’s historic centre on foot, followed by a tour of the Kremlin, the seat of Russian power and political intrigue for centuries. Stand in the Red Square, surrounded by the stunning architecture as you hear stories of the people and events behind many of Moscow’s most iconic landmarks.

On your final day, we’ll head beneath the city for a tour of the Moscow Metro and its famously ornate underground stations. Art lovers should hit up one of Moscow’s many world-class galleries such as the Tretyakov State Gallery, the Pushkin Museum or Garage, Moscow’s cutting-edge contemporary art museum. History fans can follow a Soviet trail through the city including Stalin’s Bunker, while those seeking a more indulgent experience can browse trendy neighbourhoods like Kitay Gorod or shop for everything from fashion to kitsch souvenirs at the enchanting Izmaylovo Flea Market. Foodies can head to one of the countless speciality stores sampling vodka, caviar and chocolate.

Day 1 Panoramic city tour

Welcome to the glorious capital of Russia, Moscow! You’ll be met by your driver at the airport and taken to your centrally located hotel.

After check-in and rest, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby for a comprehensive tour of Moscow by car. Visit the starkly contrasting Theatre Square to see the stunning Bolshoi Theatre, pass Tverskaya Street, the city’s main boulevard and home to the landmark Yeleseyevskiy Grocery Store.

You’ll enjoy a panoramic drive along the Moskva River, where a huge, controversial state of Peter the Great was erected. Pass by the legendary Gorky Park and the White House before a stop at the architecturally stunning Novodevichy Convent, and the observation platform at Sparrow Hills, for a bird’s eye view over this staggering megalopolis.

Day 2 Red Square and Kremlin

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical city centre. Stroll through the Red Square, the hub of cultural life in Moscow, with its elaborate ‘stone flower’ fountain and fantasy-like St Basil’s Cathedral – a postcard-perfect symbol of the nation. Admire the grandiose façade of GUM, the city’s most luxurious shopping centre, and visit Alexander’s Garden, with its eternal flame and the chance to watch a changing of the guards.

Break for lunch before continuing on a tour of the Kremlin and Armoury Chamber, famous of its collection of tsarist fashion, with regalia such as jewel-encrusted crowns, orbs and sceptres as well as arms and armour, exotic gifts from the leaders of faraway lands, and an illustrious case of Imperial Faberge eggs.

As an option* spend an evening on a sumptuous dinner cruise, taking in the stunning sights and city lights of this mesmerising metropolis by night.

Day 3 Metro and Arbat Street

Start a day with a tour of Metro, stopping on the way to marvel at some of the most elaborately decorated stations of the world-famous Moscow subway system. Take a stroll along Old Arbat street - the most famous street in Moscow. Through the centuries Arbat used to be one of the most bohemian places in Moscow. Today Arbat is a promenade full of small cozy cafes and street life.

The afternoon is free for you to either enjoy the rest of the day on your own or choose among optional excursions to explore more of Moscow. Visit the Tretyakov Gallery or Pushkin State Museum to admire Russian art. Join locals for a stroll at the Gorky or VDNH park.

Visit beautiful Kolomeskoye Estate or Izmailovo Kremlin, or spend a day exploring the beautiful city of the Golden Ring (Russian province) - Sergiev Posad. In the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your departure to your next destination.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
