We continue to advise Singaporeans to defer all non-essential travel to high risk areas such as border areas between India and Pakistan, Balochistan province and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province given the volatile security situation in these regions. 

We also continue to advise Singaporeans to take additional security precautions when travelling to other parts of the country (such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi). If you are already in Pakistan, you should take all necessary precautions to ensure your personal safety. You are advised to stay vigilant, monitor developments through the local news, and heed the instructions of the local authorities. Do stay in touch with your family and friends in Singapore so that they know you are safe. Areas where FCDO advises against travel

Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against FCDO advice.

Pakistan-Afghanistan border

FCDO advises against all travel to within 10 miles of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province

FCDO advises against all travel to these areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province: 

  • Dera Ismail Khan 
  • Lakki Marwat 
  • Peshawar, including the city of Peshawar 
  • North Waziristan
  • Upper South Waziristan 
  • Lower South Waziristan  
  • the Karakoram Highway between Mansehra and Chilas via Battagram, Besham City, Dasu and Sazin up to the junction with the N15  
  • the N45 Highway, from the north of the Mardan ring road, to the edge of Chitral City

Balochistan Province

FCDO advises against all travel to Balochistan Province, except the southern coast of Balochistan. 

FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the southern coast of Balochistan. That is the: 

  • area south of (and including) the N10 motorway  
  • section of the N25 from the N10/N25 intersection to the Balochistan-Sindh border, including the port city of Gwadar

Pakistan-administered Kashmir 

FCDO advises against all travel to within 10 miles of the Line of Control.

Sindh Province  

FCDO advises against all but essential travel to all areas of Sindh Province north of and including the city of Nawabshah.

VISA REGIME

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY Citizens of the Republic of Serbia who are holders of regular passports must obtain visa from the Embassy of Pakistan in Belgrade before travel.

SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT No social security agreement has been concluded.

USEFUL INFORMATION  

HEALTH SITUATION —  Health insurance and proof of vaccination are recommended, especially against yellow fever and cholera. There is a year-round risk of malaria in areas below 2000 m in Pakistan.

SECURITY SITUATION — Public demonstrations and civil unrest are common in Pakistan, especially during national elections. It is recommended to avoid public events, demonstrations and larger gatherings. Tourists are advised to take special care of personal belongings (passport, payment cards, jewellery, mobile phones, laptop). There is an active black market for forged and stolen travel documents, and credit card theft is common. Most of the province Baluchistan, rural parts of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are considered unsafe areas.

TRANSPORT —  The main airports are Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, and Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore.

OTHER INFORMATION —  The national currency of Pakistan is Pakistani rupee (PKR). Pakistan is a Muslim country, which should be borne in mind in order to avoid behaviour and appearance that could offend the religious feelings of the local population. Modest attire is recommended, especially for women.
