While Touria, Karmajhiri, and Jhamtara are the core area in the M.P. part of Pench tiger reserve, Sillari, Khursapar, and Chorbahuli are the gates in the Maharashtra core area.
Depending on the gate you choose, you can opt for online safari booking at our website. The bookings can be made 120 days before your visit. You are required to provide all details (name, age, gender, etc.) while booking the safari. Additionally, you must carry the same photo ID card (Aadhar, voter I.D., passport, driving license) with you that had been used to book your online safari.
Jeep Safari Note : Jeep safari is non sharing basis and maximum 6 persons are allowed in 1 jeep. Child below 5 years is complimentary and above 5 years treated as an adult.

Holidays in Madhya Pradesh are a pleasure for people who live their life to the fullest and go beyond the conventional to discover the thrill and adventure of the woods. 201 km from Jabalpur and 93 km from Nagpur, Pench is famous for its Tiger Reserve propagated majorly in Madhya Pradesh and is the best place to visit in Pench. It is named after the Pench river that flows through it.
The Jungle Book connection
No child has come to their teenage years, without reading or watching 'The Jungle Book.' The escapade of the little boy Mowgli, the Bagheera, and the villain Sher Khan written by Rudyard Kipling was inspired by the beauty of Pench National Park. The places described in 'The Jungle Book' are the locations marked at Alikatta village and the Seeonee hills. This is the reason, Pench Tiger Reserve is also popularly known as 'Land of The Jungle Book.'
Flora and Fauna
The vegetation of the Reserve is southern tropical, it is a bit moist teak forest and dry mixed deciduous forest.
A magnificent expanse in Madhya Pradesh, Pench Tiger Reserve, though is a tiger territory, it also shelters a dense population of cheetal (Spotted Deer), followed by leopard, sambhar, gaur (Indian bison), chousingha (four-horned antelope), chinkara (Indian gazelle), barking deer, small Indian civet, and porcupine. It is also home to the migratory birds such as Malabar pied hornbill, Indian pitta and osprey.
From deer to wild boar to tigers, MP has a realm of wildlife. A tour of Madhya Pradesh's wilderness is a kind of never to miss opportunity. It is also interesting to know that the one of the best wildlife series on tigers so far, 'Tiger: Spy in the Jungle' is also filmed in Pench National Park. The series was shot with the use of 'trunk cams'; the cameras held by elephants' trunks, to follow four newborn tiger cubs all the way to adulthood.
Things to do in Pench
The major attractions of the Pench Tiger Reserves are jungle walks and jungle safari. You can book your slot for safari by visiting https://forest.mponline.gov.in
People also explore short treks and wildlife viewing in the presence of trained guides and guards. It is a good way to burn calories along with capturing some spectacular wildlife shots to draw an interesting Instagram feed.
Photographers also visit the reserve with their big zoom lenses to enjoy bird watching and wildlife photography. Who knows? You can try your luck capturing the endangered species of vultures at Sita Ghat or Raiyakassa and elusive leopards at Piyorthadi looking for food and water.
Tourists can also experience the rural lifestyle while staying among Gond families at Khamba Village and create one of its kind memories.
You can also try your hands at the potter wheel making some black earthen pots at the potter's colony which is well-known for black pottery. The Potter colony in Pachdhar village is 10 km from Turia gate. It is a delight to make a souvenir by yourself to remember your visit to Pench.
Watching tigers, birds and several other animals strolling in the woods during the day or night jungle safari or visiting the Kariya Summit hill (popularly known as Kalia hill) at Pench Tiger Reserve will bring back the thrill you used to have while watching Mowgli battle Sher Khan.
Best time to visit Pench National Park
October to February can be considered the best time to visit Pench when the weather is pleasant and the jungle looks lush. However, November to March could be the best months for bird watching when birds come to central India from colder areas to spend winter. You should avoid Monsoon season if you are looking forward to jungle safari as it is kept closed for the safety of both tourists and animals.

Leaves don’t rustle! Water doesn’t trickle! Grasses stop to move! Even the wind pauses to hold its breath and watch the drama unfold! Then all of a sudden the Jungle springs to life! Langurs groan. Branches of trees begin to swing under their springing jumps. Fleeting hooves rustle the grass. Heavy bodies splash the water. Spotted Deer let out the alarm call. Let it be known – the King is here – “Hail, the King!” Lesser creatures flee. The King sweeps a gaze over his Kingdom. Period. Utter silence. The show begins.

Best Tours for Tiger Safari in Pench
This park is different. Located in the AVSM (Aravali, Vindhyanchal, Satpura and Maikal Ranges) belt, this teak forest is a different and a pleasant surprise to the normal and scenic parks of Kanha and Bandhavgarh . The tracks are smoother, the trees are thicker with dense undergrowth, perhaps one reason why the herbivore population here is more larger in size compared to Kanha and Bandhavgarh. There is a distinct silence here. You feel you are the King, when suddenly your driver halts seeing the Pugmarks of the actual King of the area. A Tiger has just crossed, he shows them to you, and suddenly an alarm call from one of the denizens of the forest. You, your driver, your naturalist are all alert. Looking in the direction of the call, eye balls much bigger than usual, heart pounding at 120 beats a minute. Ears as big as of an Elephant, you want to see the true King of Pench. The drama, unfolds, and you are in Pench, the true and original Kipling Country.

Tigers occupy the pinnacle of the food chain and a healthy tiger population in India is an indicator of the well being of the whole forest. Throughout evolution, predators have had a regulatory influence on the population sizes of other species; it is thanks to carnivores, such as tigers, that the number of herbivores is kept in check. In turn, the populations can therefore only fluctuate between certain limits because of this “feedback mechanism”.
With the number of herbivores under control, but not depleted, the forest vegetation is likely to thrive provided humans do not over exploit it. Seeds will be dispersed by new growth will not be prevented by excessive grazing pressure. Healthy vegetation protects the rainwater and safeguards the water table. Many forest are important catchments areas for rivers, upon which many species, including human beings, depend.
Species at the top of the food chain are generally larger and require more space than other animals, particularly if they are territorial . Conserving such species in the wild protects the habitat of many other animals, as well as safeguarding the essential ecological processes such as water and nutrient cycling. Thus the tiger is the guardian of many other creatures.
