Having first launched their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour with 25 epic shows across North America in 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began. After a 4-year long hiatus, Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert have announced they will set out on a spectacular North America run this fall. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on October 4 at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena making stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and more before concluding at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. See full routing below.

Brian May says, “Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious. Watch out world.”

And Adam Lambert says: “I can’t wait to tour North America one more time with the Rhapsody tour alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites. Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over.

As with last year’s UK and European dates, the 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured over the last few years, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all of which adds up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history. Read more on the story of The Rhapsody Tour so far, including the special performance opening the Platinum Jubilee concert with the late Queen herself tea cup tapping to the beat of “We Will Rock You” HERE .

TICKETS: Tickets will be available via a general onsale beginning Friday, March 31st at 10AM local time at LiveNation.com .

MORE ON TICKETS:

Queen + Adam Lambert appreciate that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for The Rhapsody Tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.

Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange – which is free to use for buyers and sellers. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

Unfortunately, the states of NY, IL, and CO have laws in place which protect ticket scalpers – these laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face value exchanges only. For shows in these states, Queen + Adam Lambert strongly encourage fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges. More information can be found here , with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Queen + Adam Lambert Unveil North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates: ‘These Are New Glory Days’

Queen Adam Lambert

“These are kind of new glory days for us,” said Queen guitarist and founding member Brian May, who was literally knighted by King Charles III earlier this month. “It’s nice to think that hopefully there will be the demand for that.”

But the guitarist, along with founding drummer Roger Taylor and singer Adam Lambert , was on the other side of the Atlantic in Thursday, in New York to announce the group’s 14-show North American leg of its “Rhapsody” tour — its first since 2019 — which runs from Oct. 4 through Nov. 11.

Popular on Variety

Shows on the overseas “Rhapsody” tour dates featured around 25 songs plus four encore numbers, and included the hits “Killer Queen,” “Fat Bottomed Girls, “Another One Bites the Dust, “We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions” and the song with more than 2 billion Spotify streams that lent its title to a film and this tour, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Queen promises some deeper cuts on this jaunt. Lambert says, “I’m not sure exactly what we’ll pull out for this one. Look, I would be happy just to show up and do what I was told if that was how it was. But I’ve been really fortunate to work with these two gentlemen who are very collaborative, and we get to all throw ideas in and work things out. I’m really grateful for that it makes me even more invested in it.

It’s been a decade since the group’s first live American concert, though the first time they performed was in 2009 when May and Taylor were guests on the eighth season of “Idol.” May remembers the first actual American concert in Las Vegas in 2013 for the iHeart Music Festival: “It felt so good both internally and from the [crowd] reaction that we thought, ‘My God, this is something we shouldn’t be letting go.’ I think we foresaw some kind of future, didn’t we? But not quite as big as it actually happened. It’s been colossal.”

Lambert agreed, “I don’t think I would have imagined that it would have been the gift that keeps on giving.”

The current Rhapsody tour features Queen + Adam Lambert’s regular band members, longtime keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren. Founding bassist John Deacon left the band and effectively retired from music following Freddie Mercury’s 1991 death, and chose not to be present at Queen’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Despite a 30-year-plus age difference between Lambert, 41, and May, 75 and Taylor, 73, the three have an easy camaraderie that’s evident both onstage and off. Lambert was only three when Queen’s iconic 1985 Live Aid performance rocked the world, but it was something he got to recreate at the Fire Fight fundraiser concert in Sydney, Australia in February 2020, a month before Covid shut down the world.

As a fan growing up, Lambert was familiar with Queen’s Live Aid footage. “But when it came time to first join the band on stage, I was like, ‘I have to know my stuff’ so I watched as much as I could. Besides Live Aid, one of my favorite things was Montreal concert where Freddie was running around in a pair of itty bitty white shorts and no shoes,” Lambert says. “I just I remember seeing that and going ‘This guy’s amazing.’ He was so free and ridiculous and just full of joy and I’ve been so inspired by that spirit. I try to approach shows with that same humor…”

“And shorts?” Taylor quipped.

“Not the shorts for me — Freddie had much better legs,” Lambert concluded.

A general on sale date for the Queen + Adam Lambert  U.S. tour is March 31, and in light of exorbitant ticket prices and “dynamic pricing,” the band stated in a release that “In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for the Rhapsody tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.”

Review - Queen + Adam Lambert @ the Chase Center (11/8/23)

queen tour san francisco

As the clock approached 8:30 pm on a Wednesday night, anticipation built within the Chase Center in San Francisco. A mesmerizing display of mechanical gears unfolded on a vast screen that spanned the front of the colossal stage. Slowly, robots emerged, navigating the turning gears, and signaling the imminent commencement of the show. The atmospheric introduction gave way to the rhythmic resonance of drum cymbals and keyboard synths, heralding the beginning of Queen's "Machines (or Back to Humans)." Freddie Mercury's recorded vocals pierced the air with the opening lyric, 'When the Machines Take Over.' And the arena was instantly bathed in a kaleidoscope of lasers emanating from every angle, creating a dazzling spectacle. Simultaneously, the mammoth screen ascended toward the rafters, unveiling the legendary collaboration of Queen + Adam Lambert .

The transition from "Machines" seamlessly flowed into "Radio Ga Ga," where Adam's dynamic vocals enveloped the audience at the Chase Center in a spiritual experience. It was only the first song of the night and already it felt as though Freddie Mercury's presence was casting a benevolent gaze, manifesting through Adam and connecting with the crowd in a profound way.

Renowned for his theatrical flair, Adam Lambert appeared onstage adorned in a musical superhero ensemble. His silver and purple attire featured a flowing cape, chest plate, arm-length gloves, and oversized sunglasses reminiscent of Bono's iconic Fly glasses. Positioned just behind Adam's central stage location, Roger Taylor held his place behind the drum kit, while the legendary guitarist, Brian May, occupied a spot not far from the center-right of the stage. Throughout the night, both Adam and Brian gracefully took turns navigating the 50-foot long catwalk, which extended from the stage towards the center floor of the arena.

From my perspective, I can't stress enough how well Adam Lambert fits into the monumental role left behind by Freddie Mercury's passing. There's simply no other living singer who can capture the flamboyance and master the vocal range that Freddie so brilliantly possessed. Despite Adam's decade-long tenure touring with Queen, this marked my inaugural experience witnessing their performance, and it left me utterly captivated. The evening unfolded as a tour de force, guiding the audience through a spectacular array of Queen's greatest hits. It effortlessly highlighted not only the dynamic range of Adam's vocals but also underscored the remarkable diversity found within the extensive catalog of Queen's hits.

Honestly, it's a challenge for me to pinpoint my favorite moments from the night because there were just so many remarkable ones! In a particularly memorable instance during "A Kind of Magic," Brian May graced the end of the catwalk, treating the audience to a guitar solo while launching fireworks from the neck of his guitar. Another poignant moment unfolded when Brian paused to address the crowd before "Love of My Life," a song dedicated to Freddie. He candidly shared his feelings of insecurity, expressing, 'you know I love to hear you sing, and I love to see your lights.' As he sat at the edge of the catwalk, playing the opening notes on his acoustic, the Chase Center illuminated with the glow of the crowd's collective phone lights.

If I had to choose just one song from the night, it would undoubtedly be the rendition of "Who Wants to Live Forever." The performance started with Freddie's recorded harmonized vocals, seamlessly transitioning into a hauntingly melodic crescendo of Adam's beautifully elongated verses. His notes resonated, gracefully soaring throughout the entire arena, leaving an indelible impression that still gives me goosebumps when recalling the performance. Brian's guitar introduced an additional layer, employing a slow, layered effect that perfectly complemented Adam's emotive delivery.

Undoubtedly, the biggest hits of the night were the true crowd-pleasers – a well-deserved accolade. The main set concluded with the powerful performances of "The Show Must Go On" and the timeless "Bohemian Rhapsody." Following a brief intermission, the band returned to deliver a spectacular encore featuring the anthems "We Will Rock You," a reprisal of "Radio Ga Ga," and the triumphant finale, "We Are the Champions." As we, the audience, exited the venue that night, there was an unmistakable sense that we had all just experienced a musical victory akin to winning the Super Bowl. Champions indeed, and what an extraordinary night it was!

Queen + Adam Lambert at Chase Center in San Francisco

queen tour san francisco

Queen + Adam Lambert

queen tour san francisco

Queen and Adam Lambert’s “The Rhapsody Tour” hit San Francisco’s Chase Center for the first of two night of classics. No opener, just a packed house in front of a massive stage and as the scheduled 8 pm set time came and went, the jittery crowd reacted to every guitar and drum sound emanating from behind the curved LED screen as the crew readied the band.

Finally the screen raised at 8:25 revealing the band. Adam Lambert, in a silver cape and high platform boots that would make Gene Simmons envious, busted right into “Machines.” The legendary Brian May took a more subdued approach with Adidas sneakers and black pants, but in a twist of irony probably had more wardrobe changes than Lambert as he repeatedly changed shirts between songs.

While Lambert’s voice was flawless the entire night, the difference from Freddie Mercury’s power was obvious (“Tie Your Mother Down”). But it was clear as the performance went on that this was in no way intended to be Queen karaoke, but rather a tribute to both the man and the musical legacy that Mercury left behind. What that meant was a tasteful integration of Freddie into the program including an appearance for a duet with May at the end of “Love of My Life” which was absolutely spine tingling.

Of no surprise was a production that was over the top. The long thrust into the seated floor made for an intimate setting when May, Lambert and drummer Roger Taylor performed a mini set. In an interesting twist, there were balconies at the rear of the stage where VIPs could watch the whole performance up close and personal.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” wrapped the main set with a return of Freddie and a 1975-era Queen to ensure that the harmonies were nailed. What could have been seen as a cop out actually came across as the intended tribute. The 2+ hour set wrapped with the triple-threat of “We Will Rock You,” “Radio Ga Ga,” and “We are the Champions” leaving the San Francisco crowd appreciative but likely doing a mental tick through the band’s discography to identify the obvious misses like “Stone Cold Crazy.”

Dutch Queen Begins 3-Day US Tour in San Francisco

Tuesday's visit by dutch queen máxima is the first official royal visit to san francisco since 2005, by sergio quintana • published september 6, 2022 • updated on september 6, 2022 at 10:20 pm.

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands visited the Bay Area on Tuesday as part of a three-day tour of the United States.

San Francisco was the first stop, with City Hall rolling out a red carpet welcome for the queen.

During a discussion at Salesforce Tower, panelists highlighted the goals and challenges California and Holland share.

"So many of our conversations stem from our lack of housing," San Francisco Mayor London Breed said. "I know that the Netherlands faces these same challenges especially in its largest city, Amsterdam.

Climate change, trade, and security are all themes of the queen's three-day visit -- inclusion is another.

Queen Máxima also toured San Francisco's Castro neighborhood, visiting the LGBT Historical Society Museum.

For Holland natives living in San Francisco, this was a rare up-close encounter with the queen.

"I have never ever seen her," San Francisco resident Ingrid Buscher said. "In Europe, whenever there's a royal visit, the queues, the lines are six or eight rows deep."

The queen also met with HIV advocates and trans community leaders inside the Twin Peaks Lounge.

"The Netherlands and San Francisco share so many things in common," Queen Máxima said. "But the support for the LGBT community, it is something that we feel so strongly about."

The Netherlands was the first country in the world to recognize same-sex marriage in 2001, so having the queen in the Castro is significant.

"I think it's a big deal," San Francisco Supervisor Rafael Mandelman said. "I think it shows the big role that the Netherlands has played around LGBTQ equality, and clearly the importance of the Castro around the queer civil rights movement and queer culture."

Tuesday's visit by Dutch Queen Máxima is the first official royal visit to San Francisco since 2005, when Prince Charles of the United Kingdom visited the city.

Queen Máxima was supposed to accompany Dutch King Willem-Alexander on this trip, but he could not travel because has pneumonia. The queen's tour of the United States continues with a visit to Berkeley and Stanford on Wednesday, and will conclude with a visit to Austin, Texas.
