JEEP DRIVING SAFARI

One of the most exciting adventures in Crete is exploring the island in an off-road vehicle. Our Jeep Safari tour offers you the best of the best: open-top jeep vehicles for unobstructed views of the valleys, mountains and other cultural highlights.

Approximately: 09:30-17:30

We take you to the hard-to-find places and away from the crowds for spectacular views and the excitement of traveling off-road in the unique landscapes of Crete – all in one day!

We avoid all the usual sites and concentrate on an action-packed day full of scenic beauty and fun. Our professional Safari leader will guide you throughout the day taking you to places that even most local people do not know exist. A stop for swimming is also programmed at the Libyan Sea.

This excursion does not include drivers therefore the clients that wish to participate should be able to drive.

The Jeep Safari is ideal for all age groups and it is a superb way of getting to know Crete Island. Enjoy!

The safari heads south, both on and off road, giving ample opportunity to enjoy the flora and fauna of rural Crete, remote villages and, of course, chance to enjoy the scenery with many photo opportunities. We also stop for a leisurely lunch in a traditional village tavern at the south, and there will be opportunity for a swim in the Libyan Sea.

We vary the route of the safari in order to take advantage of the changing scenery the wild and traditional life of Southern Crete. We promise you a fun packed, memorable day in rural southern Crete.

The jeep will collect you from your hotel, we provide the meal and at the end of the safari, return you pleasantly tired, safe and happy to your hotel! An adventurous experience in a different way!

QUAD & BUGGY SAFARI

We run two safaris daily in the morning and in the afternoon, where you have the opportunity for an exciting and fun experience.

(Both routes are the same, or sometimes can be differ if the group has experience on driving.)

We leave our base taking a route that heads up to the mountains. We will travel through impressive gorges with amazing archeological formations and cross shallow rivers to reach our next destination. We will encounter some incredible wildlife and visit traditional 11th to 12th Cretan villages that are not on the map. We will make several stops on our route, including a stop at a traditional kafenion .

This is a trip you, your family and friends will enjoy and remember for a long time.

• Both safaris include free sandwiches, mineral water and transfers to and from your hotel.

We start our safari tour around 9:00, from Rethymnon, from where we will drive southwards, across wine yards, to reach the village of Castello and a wonderful church of Agia Paraseui, hidden in a laurel forest. Afterwards we will pass through traditional Cretan small villages , Balsamonero discovering the rural life of Creta. Continuing southwards, driving to Ano & Kato MALAKI and cross the famous gorges of Kotsifou and we will reach the wonderful Plakias’ beach where we will enjoy a refreshing swimming and a delicious BBQ.

Our Jeep Safari to Agiofarago gorge starts with a drive through the vineyards of Crete. We use only the best Land Rover jeeps and tour guides for our activities. The villages we will cross are famous for the grape varieties and their wines.

The first step of our journey is the village of Saint Thomas . It is at an altitude of 760 meters. You will have the opportunity to admire at the ancient Byzantine churches dating back to 1371 AD.  Explore the remnants of the Byzantine aqueduct, and discover the Roman tombs.

Odigitria Monastery

As our Crete Jeep Safari progresses, we pass the scenic Messara valley. We make our way through olive groves until we reach the 14th century Monastery of Odigitria. Inside there is a museum. It showcase the artifacts from the daily lives of the locals.

The excitement continues as we navigate the rocky terrain in our land rover jeeps. The road leads us to the entrance of Agiofarago Gorge. We embark on a walk through the gorge. You will witness the thriving wildlife of the region.  Walking through the Agiofarago gorge you will have the opportunity to get close to sheep and goats. They are both beautiful and absolutely harmless.

After an easy 30 minute walk, we reach the bay of Agiofarago.

But the adventure doesn’t end there! After our gorge exploration, we resume our Crete Jeep Safari and make a stop at a local tavern. Here, you can taste a Cretan lunch. Read below for full details of the lunch.
