The same weather and terrain that make the Centennial State a skiing destination also make it a popular place for another winter activity: snowmobiling. With the help of traveler input and expert opinion, U.S. News identified the following Colorado snowmobile tours – all of which have knowledgeable and skilled guides – as the best available.

Like Colorado ski resort season, snowmobiling season typically runs from November to April, but specific tour companies' schedules may differ. Be aware that age restrictions for snowmobile operators and passengers vary among tour companies. And be sure to dress for the cold as most companies do not provide boots, scarves, neck gaiters, goggles or other gear beyond helmets.

Vail: Sage Outdoor Adventures – Adventure Snowmobile Tour

Price: Adults from $239; kids from $119 Duration: 2 hours

This excursion on a private course boasts views of several mountain ranges, the Continental Divide and peaks standing 14,000 feet. During the 100-mile ride, participants will climb 2,400 feet to admire the ski areas and alpine ridges below. Snowmobilers rave about both the stunning views and the adept guides. Outings occur daily from mid-November to early April at set times between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Prices include the use of a helmet. Other winter weather gear is available for purchase (and a limited number of snowsuits and boots are available for rental). Kids must be at least 5 years old to participate; drivers must be at least 14 years old.

In addition to private tours, Sage Outdoor Adventures also offers a Performance Snowmobile Tour, which travels a longer distance and costs more. Sage Outdoor Adventures encourages tour-takers to use their own transportation to reach their base lodge in Wolcott (about 30 miles west of Vail), but can provide pickup service in Avon, Beaver Creek or Vail at an additional charge. Note: Anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

We had an awesome time! The views were amazing and our guide was very accommodating with the folks in our party that were new to snowmobiling. Highly recommend the snow tubing too, as the hill was awesome and getting pulled up the hill by your guide is almost as much fun as going down. Learn More

Heeney Outpost We had an absolutely wonderful time. The trail was stunning. Matt, our tour guide, was so helpful. He stopped at places and told us where we were and some stories about the them. He is very knowledgeable and very friendly. We had a great time and will definitely return!!! Learn More

Top of the mountain tour Great time with the guys on this adventure. Will was our guide and was great. Would say a bit of riding experience goes a ways in this more challenging trip up to 13,000ft. Anyone can do it but it was more challenging for some. Will showed good patience and helped with the less accustomed riders. Overall great time and would highly recommend to all! Might… read more →

Great tour. Recommend Devan as a guide. Got a group of guys together and went for the scenic tour. Our guide was Devan and she was great. Great Snowmobile Trip! I've been on snowmobile trips before and this one was my favorite! We took the trip that was at Heeney Road and the scenery was perfect, going through forest, thick trees, and open high country. Great views and a place to "open it up a little"! Our guide, Matt, was great and lots of fun. Highly recommend this adventure! Learn More

It was Awesome We had the pleasure of doing this after an overnight snowfall. The powder was deep, like a foot deep. This made the snowmobile a little sluggish turning, but that was not an issue for us. it was absolutely beautiful driving in and out of Aspens and Evergreens, every turn was like a post card. The tour runs in and out, up and down across a 3000 acre… read more →

It’s ok to be a little nervous thinking about something you have never done! Our goal is to facilitate an experience that will be fun, not stressful. We will never ask you to do anything outside your ability or comfort level. Our guides are courteous, approachable, and polite, and here to help you get confident! They are great teachers that can pick out small flaws in your riding, if any, and give you quick techniques that will have you driving like a pro in minutes!

  • Chevron down OUR SNOWMOBILE EQUIPMENT

Our snowmobiles are manufactured by BRP, the mother company of Ski-Doo, a monstrosity of a manufacturer that makes wave runners, snowcats, airplanes, snowmobiles, etc. In short, they drop millions and millions of dollars into their engineering and development of snowmobiles so that they are the most fun, and easiest snowmobiles to drive on the planet. BRP is great at what they do.

  • Chevron down OUR CUSTOM SNOWMOBILE TRAILS

As for the trails, our grooming team and schedule are setting new standards in the state. We boast 2 snowcat groomers, like the ones you see on the ski hill, and 3 finish grade drag groomers that are pulled behind a snowmobile, and a team that takes great pride in the “art form” of creating the best riding surface possible. NEVER will you encounter the dreaded snowmobile trail “whoops” or “washboards”. That is out of the question for us.

Only on those super windy days will you find some off-camber sections of the trail from snow blowing around, but rest assured, you will probably see a team of guys in neon jackets buzzing around the mountain trying to keep up with mother nature as best we can! We maintain a riding area bigger than Vail ski area, exclusive to Sage guests only. Snowmobiling near Vail Colorado doesn’t get any better than with us here at Sage.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION

The Valley and Action Snowmobile Tours at Birdseye could be the best choice for you if you want a slow paced tour that stays down in the valley.

Make sure you ask your guide to stop at the Cocoa Hut to enjoy some free hot chocolate and let the kids ride the kiddie snowmobiles.

You can also request to your guide that you would like to stay on the flattest trails we have so that your guide will know to guide you on trails with very little up and down.

Please know that you control the speed of your snowmobile, if you have any concerns you may stop your snowmobile and your guide will happily come to help you.

Please know that you control the speed of your snowmobile, if you have any concerns you may stop your snowmobile and your guide will happily come to help you.

The Scenic Snowmobile Tours at Heeney is a slow paced tour that goes up the mountain, rewarding you with expansive views that you only get with an elevated overlook. On a clear day, you can see over 40 miles and look over the top of the Continental Divide at Rocky Mountain National Park and north to Rabbit Ears Pass. If it’s really clear, you can see mountains over 70 miles away. First you will receive instruction on how to operate the snowmobile at the beginning of the tour. Next you will head out onto the the trail that gently takes you up the mountain.

During your tour your guide will stop you at great places to take pictures and at the Cocoa Cabin so you can warm up sipping hot chocolate while overlooking the Eagles Nest Wilderness. Also let your guide know if you want to open up the throttle on the 3/4 mile long track. You can also let your kids ride the kiddie snowmobiles at this stop.

If I could give 6 points I would! This was a first time on snowmobiles for my wife and me and we took the "Mountain Top Action Tour" which was higher paced. The snowmobiles were in excellent condition and the guide (Spencer) did a great job estimating our level of comfort on the machines. We started easy and during the 3-hour trip he increased the pace to the level that… read more →

Amazing adventure - we were wide open! Took a mountain top action tour today with William - it's hard to impress two 16 year old boys but this was over the top. Breathtaking scenery, "off road advanced add-on where William took us to places we couldn't possibly get on our own", wide open space and wide open throttles! We recommend that specific tour with William highly! Trip Advisor Review

Great mountain top adventure We booked the Mountain Top Action tour and chose the action tour since we were all adults and wanted to go above the tree line. We chose the more expensive snowmobile (only $10 more). We requested to be picked up since we were staying in Breckenridge and didn't know the area. Trevor picked us up in the company van and took us on the very scenic… read more →

As good as it gets! Took a few snowmobiling tours while in Breckenridge for Spring Break. This was by far our favorite as far as value and experience. But then you throw in the "Extreme" tubing that was included (with Spencer) and it just went over the top! Can't wait to do it again with Tim and his team...thanks for an awesome last day adventure!! Nice Adventure off the beaten path We had a great time snowmobiling. It had some awesome scenic views and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. The safety session before the ride was informative but did make us a little nervous as you would be responsible for any damages. I would think that their insurance should cover it. There were no instances of anybody wrecking on our trip and… read more →

Compliance status

We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.

To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.

This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.

Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.

If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:

Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.

These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.

Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.

Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
  • Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

  • Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
  • Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over seven different coloring options.
  • Animations – person with epilepsy can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
  • Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
  • Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
  • Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
  • Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Browser and assistive technology compatibility

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).

Notes, comments, and feedback

Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs. There may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible. Still, we are continually improving our accessibility, adding, updating and improving its options and features, and developing and adopting new technologies. All this is meant to reach the optimal level of accessibility, following technological advancements. For any assistance, please reach out to

Keegan Bradley adds to Mountain West legend with BMW Championship win

Was already in wyoming hall of fame before colorado victory.

Change Text Size

CASTLE PINES VILLAGE, Colo. – Mark Bradley planned a career as a fly-fishing guide when he hitchhiked to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in 1973.

Life intervened.

He would move to Vermont, become a golf pro and, most importantly, have a son. Mark and Keegan Bradley would play a lot of golf, including a game called Rider Cup/Walker Cup, in which young Keegan was afforded a cart ride if he hit a good shot but had to walk if not.

“He would be running behind the cart,” Mark Bradley said at the rollicking BMW Championship at Castle Pines Golf Club, “and he’d be yelling, ‘Dad! Dad! But that was a Rider Cup!'”

Keegan Bradley, who will be a captain’s assistant at the Presidents Cup, Sept. 26-29, and the U.S. Ryder Cup captain next year, was deserving of all the cups, including the trophy, as he shot a final-round, even-par 72 to win the BMW Championship by a shot at Castle Pines on Sunday.

It was his seventh PGA TOUR title and moved him from 50th in the FedExCup – the last man into the field – to No. 4, as players prepare for the TOUR Championship to decide it all.

“I'm in a bit of a state of shock because there was a time a week ago about this time that I didn't think I was going to be coming here,” said Bradley, who made 14 pars, two birdies and two bogeys to convert his 54-hole lead into a victory. “I had to have a lot of magical things happen for me to just play in this tournament, and when I got here, I was so grateful just to be here. I played with a real sense of calm all week, which is not the norm for me.”

How did this happen? How did Bradley, who made it into the BMW Championship field by just 17 FedExCup points over Tom Kim, go out and win the tournament?

If there was a shot to remember, said Bradley’s caddie, Scott Vail, it was Bradley’s 5-iron into the par-5 17th hole. He had faced the same shot the day before but come up short. This time, the ball soared through the thin Colorado air so majestically, settling 16 feet from the pin for an easy two-putt birdie. “The best shot I’ve ever seen,” Vail called it. He even wrote it down that way in the yardage book, in all caps with three exclamation points.

Keegan Bradley’s clutch 71st hole approach is the Shot of the Day

He got no argument from his boss.

“That 5-iron was as pure of a golf shot as I've ever hit,” Bradley said. “… I was aiming at the tongue of the bunker, and I hit it right there. It's one of those moments when you realize you can hit these shots in contention when it matters most, and to be able to pull that shot off – I mean, for me that was the shot of the tournament and a shot that I'll remember forever.”

The birdie gave Bradley a two-shot lead going to the last, and he would need it, three-putting for bogey from just off the left of the green before thrusting his arms in the air as the crowd roared.

All week, players struggled to figure out yardages at altitude, but Bradley excelled here.

“We’re really good at elevation change,” said caddie Vail. “We’ve had all those numbers really dialed in. It just felt right, like it was going to be a solid week the way he was hitting it. You’ve got to eliminate the variables, which means being a good ball-striker. If you hit it thin, elevation isn’t going to help much. He hits it on the screws; we’ve got a formula.”

It didn’t hurt that Bradley is not just of the Northeast (Vermont and Hopkinton, Massachusetts), New York (St. John’s University in New York), and South Florida (he lives in TOUR pro-heavy Jupiter). He’s also of the Mountain West. Mark Bradley, who had never been on site to witness one of his son’s victories until Sunday, would move back to Jackson Hole again and continue his teaching career as Director of Instruction of Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club.

Keegan would visit Colorado’s neighbor to the north whenever he could.

Keegan Bradley shows off his home memorabilia room

“When I went to St. John’s, my college years, I would drive out to Wyoming and I would work at the golf course and I would play in the Wyoming State Amateur and the Wyoming Open,” he said. “I was out there for three summers, I believe. I would get done with school in Queens, get in my Ford Focus and drive for three days to Jackson and work all summer, play golf and fish and play in those local tournaments, and it was great.”

So great, in fact, that Keegan Bradley won the 2005 Wyoming State Golf Association Amateur and the 2006 WSGA Match Play Championship and is in the WSGA Hall of Fame.

Those victories would translate into success on TOUR, although not without some struggle and strife. Thrown by the ban on anchored putting, Bradley would endure a six-year win drought. It’s why he makes sure to celebrate his victories, he said Sunday.

“I always try to take a second to really enjoy it, not underreact to a situation like that,” he said.

Keegan Bradley clinches victory on 72nd hole at BMW Championship

His latest victory seemed to be in doubt when he was tied at the top with playing partner Adam Scott, who eagled the par-5 opening hole and went out in 2-under 34 to Bradley’s 35.

Alas, Scott (72, T2) bogeyed four of the first six holes on the back nine, leaving Sam Burns (65, T2) as the most serious threat after Bradley bogeyed the par-4 15th hole. It took his birdie at the par-5 17th, and that 5-iron second shot that Bradley will never forget, to restore order and a two-shot lead going into 18. He could breathe again, even in the thin air.

Although his approach missed left and short, rolling back off the green, his ensuing three-putt from the front fringe didn’t matter. He tapped in before hugging Vail and then his beaming father.

Keegan Bradley recounts playing basketball with Michael Jordan and Tom Brady

You’d have to say Mark Bradley’s “Rider Cup/Walker Cup” games paid off.

As for those other cups, as in Presidents and Ryder, who knows? Bradley, 38, would need to be one of the six captain’s picks, to be announced after the TOUR Championship, to make the playing roster for the Presidents Cup next month.

Then there’s the question of next year’s Ryder Cup at New York’s Bethpage Black. Bradley has gone on record saying he won’t pick himself, but he’s got plenty of time to make it on points.

“I still feel like I'm in the prime of my career,” he said.

So good from tee to green as to negate a balky putter (-1.693 Strokes Gained), Bradley backed up that claim with his clubs. He thought he had missed out on the BMW Championship. He thought the TOUR Championship in Atlanta wasn’t even worth thinking about. Now he’ll go to East Lake just four strokes behind No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Walking or riding, player or captain, Northeast or Mountain West, Keegan Bradley’s life is changing fast.
