How to Create a Travel Log (Tips and Examples)

Travel log: definition, essential elements, and examples.

Travel log

As the holiday season approaches, you may find yourself eagerly planning a getaway to that dream destination you’ve always longed to explore. Enhance your travel experience by utilizing a travel log, a versatile tool designed to help you organize and plan your journey, while also providing a space to record memorable moments, new knowledge, and interesting encounters.

Often referred to as a vacation journal, travel logs offer value for both short and long trips alike. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to embark on an epic voyage to benefit from a travel journal; even a brief excursion just an hour from home can yield memorable experiences worth documenting. Moreover, travel logs are not solely for personal use, as numerous companies and individuals maintain professional travel records for various purposes.

Dive deeper into the world of travel logs as we guide you through selecting the perfect journal, exploring diverse writing prompts, and offering tips on preserving your travel memories for years to come.

What Is a Travel Log?

A travel log is a record of your travels that can take many different forms. It can be a physical notebook or journal, a digital document or blog, or even a collection of photos and videos. At its core, a travel log is a way to organize and plan your trip, document your experiences, and capture the memories that you make along the way.

Some people use their travel logs to keep track of their itinerary, jot down notes about places they want to visit or things they want to do, and store important travel documents like passports and tickets. Others use their travel logs as a way to reflect on their experiences, write about what they learned, and share their stories with others.

While travel logs were originally used by travelers to record their experiences for personal reasons, they are now used by many companies and individuals for professional purposes as well. Travel agents, tour operators, and travel bloggers often keep detailed travel logs to document their trips and share their experiences with their clients or readers. Companies may also use travel logs to track employee travel expenses and ensure that their travel policies are being followed.

Why use a Travel Log?

Each person likes going on a trip because it gives you an adventure that you will leave to remember. There are five reasons for using a travel log. These reasons include:

In most cases, you are likely to take many photos during your trip, some of which you can add to your travel journal. Therefore, use your phone to take numerous pictures and carry alongside your phone an HP Sprocket, which is a portable printer. This machine might be smaller than your phone. And it prints wireless from whichever phone you are using.

Many individuals prefer it over other printers because it is lightweight and offers you ink-free prints with the entire stickers backed to print and stick them straight away to your journal. This means you do not need tapes or glue to add photos to the travel journal. You can also add stamps, stickers, flowers, pressed plants or flowers, business cards, receipts, or ticket stubs to keep treasured memories. In addition, you can add other few mementos you are likely to find during your trip.

Many people love the travel log book because they can find time to go through their notes after the trip. Thus, when you revisit your travel journal, you can confidently recap how much your trip varied from the expectations you had jotted down earlier. During this time, you can state what you enjoyed, what you would love to do once more, and what you would love to alter. You can use this as your travel guide on your next trip or even a travel guide for others going for a vocation.

Mindfulness

A travel log helps you to be mindful and focus on your trip. It makes you take a break from your phone and focus on your conversation on your trip. This means you will be mindful of things you do, smell, taste, touch, hear and see while on your trip. These things might look simple, but you must note them to recount them later, especially after your trip. Never wait until you end your trip to make your notes. Take the initiative of making notes each day that passes to avoid missing out on crucial matters. Remember, the little things you are likely to assume are what make your entire trip exciting.

Anticipation

The notes you make in your travel log will leave you anticipating more details. On the other hand, you can even start anticipating before your trip since you will be asking yourself a lot of queries, such as what you expect to do, eat and see, and people’s culture being different from your culture when you record all these questions down. You can answer them later and compare them as you find answers after your trip.

Travel journals are used when you are on vacation. You can use them to establish a travel places wish list, or bucket list, alongside the things you would love to see. After choosing your destination, it is appropriate that you use your travel log to plan for your trip effectively, including details like what you would like to do, see, your trip cost, how you are likely to reach there, and where you will stay. Do not forget to include your expectations as well as the packing list. Most people find planning difficult, not knowing; they can change that conception using the travel journal. Below are a few ways you can use the travel log while planning for your vacation:

  • Packing list- Nothing is complicated like packing for a place you are going for the first time. But you can commence by examining the weather and choosing your outfits accordingly. Do not just focus on clothes but everything you will need on your trips, such as feminine hygiene, medicine, electric adaptors, and phone chargers. Ensure you add them to the list.
  • Travel prep list- You must jot down what needs to be cared for when you are away, which will help you not forget anything. This list includes child and pet care, plant care, a house sitter, and stopping the mail. These are things you must take of before leaving.
  • Things to buy- Whenever you arrange for a trip. You might need to purchase several items like a travel-sized lotion, luggage id tag, cosmetic case, and a new suitcase. Ensure that the list of these things is in your travel journal.
  • Travel itinerary- With the travel log, you will plan and fulfill everything as you have planned in it. It acts as a command center. Therefore, make sure that you stick to the plans you make on your travel journal, and you will not worry about anything on your trip.
  • Hotel reservations and travel plan- The travel log will assist you in keeping track of your entire hotel reservations, car rental, and all flights, among other travel plans you need to make in advance. Write down contact numbers, addresses, confirmation numbers, and flight numbers. Suppose your trip will not be within your country. Ensure you keep your contact info and passport number for your local embassy in your journal.
  • Saving budget- After some thorough research about your trip, you need to know how much the trip will cost you. You can achieve this by writing down the entire cost of everything, including items you need to purchase before your trip, transportation, meal budget, and hotel rates, among many more things.
  • Things to see- It is excellent to write what you would love to see during your trip. You must be sure of open hours and if reservations need to be done earlier plus the total cost.
  • Travel research- After choosing a place for your vacation, you need thorough research and write whatever you discover in your journal. It might be about the weather, what they produce, a figure of individuals visiting the area. And if this area is known.
  • Bucket list- Use your travel list to write down some of the places you would love to visit in the future.

Navigating the Journey: Overcoming Challenges and Limitations of Travel Logs

While travel logs offer numerous benefits for personal and professional use, maintaining a consistent and effective journal comes with its own set of challenges and limitations. In this section, we will explore the potential obstacles travelers may encounter when keeping a travel log and suggest ways to overcome them.

  • Time constraints : Busy travel schedules can make it difficult to carve out the time needed for regular journaling. To combat this issue, consider setting aside a specific time each day, even if it’s just a few minutes, to jot down your experiences and observations. Alternatively, try voice recording your thoughts and transcribing them later when you have more time.
  • Lack of inspiration : It’s not uncommon to experience writer’s block or feel unsure about what to include in your travel log. Overcome this by using prompts, taking photographs, or sketching scenes as a starting point for your entries. Remember that there’s no right or wrong way to document your journey – focus on capturing the moments that resonate with you.
  • Privacy concerns : Protecting the sensitive information in your travel log is crucial, especially for business travelers who may need to record confidential details. Ensure your log’s security by using password protection for digital journals or locks for physical ones. Additionally, be cautious when sharing your travel log with others to prevent unauthorized access to your private information.
  • Consistency : Staying consistent with journaling throughout your trip can be challenging, especially when dealing with factors such as jet lag or travel fatigue. To maintain momentum, consider setting reminders or alarms to prompt you to update your log. You can also try breaking your journaling sessions into smaller, manageable increments to make the task less daunting.
  • Organization : Keeping your travel log organized is essential for easy reference and navigation. However, this can be challenging when dealing with a wide range of content, such as photographs, sketches, and written entries. To maintain organization, establish a system for sorting your entries, whether it’s through color-coding, indexing, or dividing your log into sections based on your itinerary.
  • Preservation : Ensuring the longevity of your travel log can be challenging, particularly for physical journals that may be exposed to the elements, wear and tear, or damage. Invest in a durable, high-quality journal and use acid-free paper and pens to help preserve your memories. For digital journals, regularly back up your content to secure cloud storage or external drives.

Mastering the Art of Travel Logging for Personal and Professional Adventures

A travel log can serve as an invaluable tool for documenting and organizing your adventures, whether you’re traveling for leisure or conducting business. By following these tips, you can ensure that your travel log becomes an indispensable companion on your journey.

  • Choose the right format : Consider your preferences and needs when selecting a travel log. Options range from traditional paper journals and sketchbooks to digital apps and platforms. A physical journal is ideal for those who enjoy handwriting, while a digital log may be better suited for tech-savvy travelers or those seeking convenient access to their records.
  • Establish a routine : Set aside a dedicated time each day or week to update your travel log. Consistency is key in capturing your experiences and observations in a timely manner. Establishing a routine can help you to stay disciplined and make journaling an enjoyable habit.
  • Include pertinent details : For both personal and business travel, be sure to record essential information such as dates, locations, expenses, and contact details. This will help you keep track of your journey and make it easier to reference specific events or encounters later.
  • Embrace personalization : Customize your travel log to reflect your unique experiences and preferences. You can include sketches, photographs, ticket stubs, or any other memorabilia that captures the essence of your journey. Feel free to experiment with different writing styles, whether it’s prose, poetry, or bullet points.
  • Incorporate reflections : Use your travel log as an opportunity to reflect on your experiences. Consider jotting down your thoughts, feelings, and insights gained during your trip. For business travelers, this could involve evaluating the success of meetings, networking events, or conferences.
  • Organize your content : To make your travel log easy to navigate, create a system for organizing your entries. This can be as simple as dividing your log into sections based on your trip’s itinerary or using color-coded tabs to differentiate between personal and business content.
  • Ensure privacy and security : Protect the sensitive information in your travel log by keeping it in a secure location. For physical journals, consider using a lock or storing them in a safe place. For digital logs, use password protection and secure cloud storage services.
  • Review and share : Periodically review your travel log to relive memories, gain insights, and learn from your experiences. If you feel comfortable, consider sharing your travel stories with friends, family, or colleagues. This can foster connection, inspire others, and potentially lead to new opportunities.

Travelodge by Wyndham, commonly referred to simply as Travelodge , is one of 5 value brands in Wyndham’s vast hotel portfolio . Along with Days Inn , Howard Johnson , and Super 8 , Travelodge by Wyndham is a no-frills economy hotel chain known for offering some of the most affordable overnight room rates in the business.

Convenience and affordability are the brand’s biggest selling points: central locations near major attractions make Travelodge an easy, budget-conscious choice for travelers. Considering rooms often cost less than $100 a night on average, Travelodge is a no-brainer for anyone looking to keep their trip as cost-effective as possible.

That said, you certainly get what you pay for when you stay at Travelodge. With a few exceptions, most properties are 2-star hotels with basic, limited amenities.

Below, we’ll go over what a stay at a Travelodge by Wyndham hotel looks like, as well as the brand’s most popular locations in the U.S.

Everything You Need to Know About Travelodge by Wyndham

As previously mentioned, Travelodge by Wyndham is an economy hotel brand owned by Wyndham Hotel Group — economy is the lowest tier of the company’s 6 hotel categories, which also include upscale brands like Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and lifestyle brands like TRYP.

The first TraveLodge (as it was styled at the time) opened in 1940 in San Diego as a budget motel and expanded throughout the U.S. before eventually merging with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in 2006. Today, the chain includes more than 430 properties spread across North America and has become one of the more recognizable economy hotel chains in the country.

Generally, Travelodge by Wyndham competes with similar 2-star economy brands like Econo Lodge.

Be sure not to confuse Travelodge by Wyndham with Travelodge hotels overseas — separate European and Asian chain hotel companies with locations in the U.K., Ireland, Spain, Australia, and Asia. Despite sporting the same “Travelodge” name, these properties are not overseen by Wyndham and do not participate in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program.

To earn Wyndham Rewards points, stick to Travelodge locations based in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

As a 2-star hotel chain, Travelodge by Wyndham offers limited services for its guests. Generally, properties feature a 24-hour front desk, fitness center, self-service laundry room, free Wi-Fi, and an outdoor pool. In rare cases, there’s even a hot tub and on-site restaurant, while some serve complimentary continental breakfast.

Guest rooms are basic with generic décor, though they do come with a flat-screen TV, work desk, tea and coffee maker, and daily housekeeping. Some rooms feature a microwave and mini-fridge, though it depends on the property.

In recent years, Travelodge by Wyndham has positioned itself as a “basecamp for adventure.” More than 75% of Travelodge hotels in the U.S. are located within an hour’s drive of national parks — a compelling reason for outdoorsy types to consider the brand when planning their next escape.

In addition to being an official partner for the National Parks Conservation Association, Travelodge features See America Project artwork in many of the lobbies at its national park gateway hotels.

Travelodge is also upping its eco-friendly efforts by launching the forthcoming Travelodge + GO Green initiative that will introduce new brand-wide policies that streamline breakfast, housekeeping, and amenity programs in order to reduce the brand’s environmental impact.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Cards

Unlike the more built-out rewards programs offered by Hilton or Marriott, there are only 2 ways you can earn points within the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program : by staying at Wyndham properties or by making purchases using one of the 3 Wyndham Rewards Earner cards issued by Barclays.

Barclays offers 3 co-branded credit cards that make it easy to stack up the points you need to redeem a free night at Travelodge by Wyndham properties. In general, the higher the annual fee, the higher the elite status membership you start with — and better perks.

Wyndham Rewards ® Earner℠ Card

  • Earn 30,000 points (equal to 4 free nights) after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days from account opening
  • Automatic Gold status each account anniversary year and 7,500 bonus points every year after your account anniversary after you spend $15,000 in eligible purchases
  • Earn 5x points per $1 spent at Wyndham hotels and gas, 2x points per $1 spent on dining and groceries, and 1x points on all other purchases
  • No annual fee

Wyndham Rewards ® Earner℠ Plus Card

  • Earn 45,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first months (equal to 6 free nights at participating hotels)
  • Automatic Platinum status each account anniversary year, and 7,500 bonus points every year after the account anniversary
  • Earn 6x points per $1 spent at Wyndham hotels and gas, 4x points on dining and groceries, and 1x points on other purchases
  • $75 annual fee

Wyndham Rewards ® Earner℠ Business Card

  • Earn 45,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months
  • Automatic Diamond status each account anniversary year, and 15,000 bonus points every year after the account anniversary after you spend $15,000 in eligible purchases
  • Earn 8x points per $1 spent at Wyndham hotels and gas, 5x points on dining and groceries, and 1x points on all other purchases
  • $95 annual fee

Once you rack up enough Wyndham Rewards points , you can redeem them for a handful of perks including free award nights at Travelodge by Wyndham locations. The best part is that no matter which card you sign up for, all cardholders receive a 10% redemption discount on free night award stays.

The 13 Most Popular Travelodge by Wyndham Hotels

As a value hotel brand, you’ll often find that the Travelodge properties travelers search for and stay at most within the U.S. are concentrated in major cities and business hubs, close to major attractions, and conveniently positioned off highways or by airports.

As for points redemptions, Wyndham divides its free night award costs by category — 7,500, 15,000, and 30,000 points per night, depending on the level of the hotel brand. Most Travelodge properties fall within the middle tier of the Wyndham Rewards point redemption chart, with a few exceptions.

Let’s take a look at the most popular Travelodge locations in the U.S. right now.

Travelodge by Wyndham Las Vegas Center Strip Pool

You can easily spot ARIA Resort and Casino and the Shops at Crystals from the pool at Travelodge by Wyndham Las Vegas Center Strip, but that’s not all you’re close to.

Some of Vegas’s biggest and most sought-after resort destinations are within a 10-minute stroll including the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas , MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood, and the Bellagio (as well as its famous fountains ). You’ll also be near lots of popular Las Vegas attractions.

There’s not much else to write home about concerning this 2-star hotel, but the central Strip location can’t be beat and the 125 guest rooms are some of the most affordable rates in the area — all the better for saving up to spend on the slots and celebrity-chef-run restaurants nearby.

Among the property highlights include the aforementioned outdoor pool  that is ringed by cabanas, along with free Wi-Fi and parking. You’ll also find laundry facilities and an on-site mart that sells snacks and beverages.

A Go Free award night at this property costs 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points. If paying by cash or card, standard rooms average about $58 per night.

Travelodge by Wyndham Downtown Chicago Lobby

The best perk about staying at Travelodge by Wyndham Downtown Chicago — apart from the hotel’s incredibly affordable rates, of course — is that it sits just 1 block away from Millennium Park , putting guests within a 20-minute walk of a host of popular Chicago attractions including the Art Institute of Chicago, Shedd Aquarium, and Cloud Gate.

When you’re not busy exploring the South Loop, kick back with free Wi-Fi in your guest room (suites come with wet bars and microwaves) or enjoy a casual meal at either of the 2 on-site restaurants , Luna Café and Thai Spoon.

Unfortunately, there is no on-site parking available , though off-site garages and valet parking are available nearby for a fee.

This hotel charges 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points for a Go Free award night. Alternatively, if you plan to pay out of pocket, cash rates hover around $100 per night for a standard room.

Travelodge by Wyndham San Francisco Central Guest Room

Directly off Route 101, Travelodge by Wyndham San Francisco Central is an affordable place to bed down if you’re looking to stay close to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and all the pleasures of Market Street — a main thoroughfare of restaurants and tramways that slices its ways through San Francisco’s historic Castro District all to way to the Embarcadero.

Aside from the competitive rates, free Wi-Fi, in-room mini-fridges and coffee makers, and on-site parking are all desirable features at this motel.

That said, recent guest reviews have complained about the noise and lack of cleanliness. Another caveat of this hotel: you have to drive or take public transportation to reach more attractive neighborhoods like the Mission District, the Presidio, or the waterfront.

Go Free award nights can be redeemed at this property for 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points. Paid rates average about $95 for a standard room.

Hot Tip:  A 2-mile stretch of Market Street — starting at the intersection of 10th Street and Van Ness Avenue (close to this Travelodge) and reaching all the way to the Ferry Terminal — was recently closed to cars, making it more pedestrian-friendly than ever.

Travelodge by Wyndham Las Vegas

While the Travelodge brand’s Center Strip sister property sits within spitting distance of MGM Grand and the Bellagio, Travelodge by Wyndham Las Vegas is located more towards the northern end of the Strip , putting it closer to a different collection of surrounding resorts and casinos including Treasure Island, the Venetian, Wynn Las Vegas, and Circus Circus.

Property highlights include an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi, complimentary on-site parking, and a pet-friendly policy in addition to a fitness center and laundry facilities.

Expect to redeem 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night for a Go Free award stay here. Otherwise, cash rates hover around $145 per night for a standard room.

Travelodge by Wyndham Bloomington

Holing up at Travelodge by Wyndham Bloomington, about 1 hour south of Indianapolis, is an easy and convenient choice for college parents. The hotel sits just a half-mile away from the Indiana University campus and directly across the street from the fun-filled shops and restaurants of College Mall.

In addition to free Wi-Fi, this location also offers free breakfast and parking, bike rentals , a business center, a laundry room, and even an airport shuttle (for a fee) that makes runs to and from Indianapolis International Airport (IND) .

What’s more, the hotel’s pet-friendly policy means you can bring the whole gang along when you’re visiting town. When you’ve got free time, take the group out to Lake Monroe Reservoir , a rejuvenating spot to go picnicking or boating and an easy half-hour drive from the hotel.

For an award night stay, expect to redeem 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night here. Paid rates for a standard room average about $70.

Travelodge by Wyndham Absecon Atlantic City

Roughly equidistant from Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) and the city’s famous casino-lined boardwalk , Travelodge by Wyndham Absecon Atlantic City is an accessible and affordable place to stay for Atlantic City visitors that want to avoid the traffic and tourist crowds that clog the popular waterfront.

Let’s not sugarcoat it: the hotel is a 16-minute drive from downtown Atlantic City , so you’ll be far away from the action. However, what the hotel lacks in sites it makes up for with affordable rates and essential amenities including free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and a shuttle (for a fee) that’s on hand to drive guests to and from the airport as well as local stops.

Business travelers also appreciate the spacious meeting room that can hold up to 150 guests for conferences or events.

Go Free reward stays here cost 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night. Cash rates hover near $65 per night for a standard room.

Travelodge Inn Suites by Wyndham Anaheim on Disneyland Drive Pool

When you book a room at Travelodge Inn & Suites by Wyndham Anaheim on Disneyland Drive, you’ll be within 1 block of 3 of the area’s biggest landmarks — I-5 to the north and Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to the south. Heads up, business travelers: Anaheim Convention Center is also just a 4-minute drive away.

While still a 2-star stay, this location is a step up from your typical Travelodge motel, offering a heated pool and hot tub as well as complimentary continental breakfast in addition to the usual amenities like free parking and free Wi-Fi. After long days of sightseeing, whip up some java or heat up some snacks with your in-room coffee maker and microwave.

Groups staying in town for multiple days will especially appreciate the inn’s laundry facilities and free parking, though being within walking distance of the Downtown Disney monorail station (which connects to Tomorrowland within Disneyland Park) is what many people check in for. Here for a baseball game instead? Angel Stadium is an 11-minute drive east.

Go Free award nights here cost 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night, while paid rates average about $90 for a standard room.

Travelodge by Wyndham Seattle By The Space Needle Guest Room

Not every room at Travelodge by Wyndham Seattle By The Space Needle has a view, but those that do feature dead-on vistas of Seattle’s skyline-defining landmark.

The iconic Space Needle is just a 5-minute walk from the motel, meaning guests are also within easy reach of other major area attractions including Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Pacific Science Center, and the monorail that connects to downtown.

While certainly not the most tricked-out stay in the area, the affordable rates at this Travelodge make it a basic but convenient spot to base yourself — especially when you consider reservations include free Wi-Fi and access to a fitness center, outdoor pool, and hot tub .

Did we mention CenturyLink Field (home of the Seahawks) and T-Mobile Park (home of the Mariners) are just a 10-minute drive south along the waterfront? Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is also less than 30 minutes away by car.

Award nights can be redeemed for 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points here. Paid rates average about $90 for a standard room.

Travelodge by Wyndham Las Vegas Airport Near the Strip

When it comes to easy airport access, you can’t get much closer than the Travelodge by Wyndham Las Vegas Airport – Near the Strip, which sits directly across the street from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) .

The motel offers a free airport shuttle (7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily) and complimentary grab-and-go breakfast bags for guests, so you’ll never have to worry about missing your flight due to parking or leaving on an empty stomach.

Guest rooms include microwaves, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi as well as access to the property’s laundry facilities and an outdoor pool. There’s even a small outdoor grill area for those who’d prefer to cook their own meals.

Free parking is available on-site for drivers arriving off Highway 15. If you’d prefer to avoid traffic and parking along South Las Vegas Boulevard, MGM Grand, Excalibur, and the Luxor are all within a 15-minute walk .

For a Go Free award stay, Wyndham Rewards members can expect to fork over 15,000 points per night. Alternatively, cash rates hover around $75 for a standard room.

Hot Tip:  Have an early arrival flight, or just can’t wait to drop your bags and hit the slots? Travelodge by Wyndham Las Vegas Airport – Near the Strip has an official check-in time of 2 p.m. — an entire hour earlier than many other Travelodge locations.

Travelodge by Wyndham Miami Biscayne Bay

Drive a little north of mainland Miami along Biscayne Boulevard and you’ll eventually hit Travelodge by Wyndham Miami Biscayne Bay, just shy of Little Haiti in Miami’s Modern Design District . Remnants of the hotel’s former life as Bianco Hotel remain, from the stylish front entrance to the mod furniture in the lobby.

Despite being a ways away from downtown Miami, guests can still easily drive to major art landmarks including Wynwood Walls (9 minutes) and the Pérez Art Museum (13 minutes).

Free parking and Wi-Fi are nice perks, though guests have complained about noise levels, room cleanliness, and an unimpressive continental breakfast — making the affordable rate the location’s major selling point. There are also no laundry facilities at this property, which is atypical for Travelodge, and no pool — a feature many guests have come to expect from Miami hotels .

Wyndham Rewards members will have to redeem 15,000 points per night for a Go Free award stay at this property. If paying by cash or card, standard rooms average around $74 per night.

Travelodge by Wyndham San Francisco Airport North Guest Room

Flying in or out of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and searching for an affordable spot to stay nearby ? You’re in luck: Travelodge by Wyndham San Francisco Airport North is less than a 10-minute drive from the main terminal and within 20 minutes of downtown (depending on traffic).

Plus, if you’re in town for just the night and don’t want to rent a car, the hotel even runs a free airport shuttle that connects to SFO.

The heated outdoor pool is a nice place to refresh yourself before or after your flight — as is the 24-hour IHOP right on the property where you can enjoy breakfast literally anytime you want. Guest rooms include free Wi-Fi, free parking, and access to both a business center and a self-service laundry room.

Award stay redemptions cost 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night at this hotel, while cash rates for standard rooms hover around $75.

Travelodge by Wyndham Anaheim Convention Center

Although you’ll see some families checking into Travelodge by Wyndham Anaheim Convention Center — Disneyland is 2 blocks away , after all — the scene here is mostly business travelers who come to take advantage of the hotel’s proximity to the Anaheim Convention Center, which sits even closer to the property.

No matter what guests come to do during the day, however, everyone makes good use of the property’s free continental breakfast , free parking, outdoor pool and hot tub, and laundry facilities. Oversized rooms are available to book for families and groups, and there is also a business center on-site.

Go Free reward stays cost 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night. Cash rates average about $87 for a standard room.

Travelodge Suites by Wyndham Kissimmee Orange

Despite its 2-star status and limited amenities, Travelodge Suites by Wyndham Kissimmee Orange goes beyond your typical Travelodge to make stays as family-friendly as possible.

In addition to an outdoor pool, there’s also a separate kids’ pool, hot tub, and game room . For extended-stay guests, laundry facilities, kitchenettes in select apartment-style rooms , and free parking make checking in for multiple nights a breeze — although no free breakfast is a bummer.

The best perk, of course, is the hotel’s convenient location off of I-4, just 10 minutes from Walt Disney World Resort . Old Town theme park is even closer — just 4 minutes down the road — while SeaWorld and Universal Orlando Resort are both within a 20-minute drive if traffic is moving well.

Surprisingly, Go Free reward stays at this property are cheaper than others on this list — just 7,500 Wyndham Rewards points per night. Paid room rates, on average, hover around $68.

Travelodge by Wyndham is a solid value brand among many within Wyndham’s portfolio of hotels and has grown to be one of the leaders in budget travel accommodations across the U.S. and Canada.

Whether you’re staying near a major city, resort area, or near a national park, Travelodge’s mission is completely value-oriented by providing centrally located rooms at budget prices — with a few added conveniences to boot, like laundry facilities and free Wi-Fi.

While you won’t be bragging to anyone about checking into a Travelodge, you’ll certainly be saving a hit to your wallet — not to mention rack up Wyndham Rewards points to use towards another adventure. Plus, if you have Wyndham Rewards status, you can take advantage of better perks like late check-out or early check-in.

For travelers who simply need a place to rest their head at night and want to save big, considering cashing in on a stay at a Travelodge by Wyndham hotel.

What is a travel log?

Travel Log

A travel log is a way of documenting your travels, whether personal or professional. A travel log can be beneficial in helping you recall memories of your trips and also act as an excellent guide to help you plan your next. It enables you to keep track of all the information you need on each trip so that when it comes to following up with it, you can do so.

The travel log only travels within the framework of a route. Rather than ordinary diaries, it is an object that tries to convey the ambiance of the places visited. People can keep a travel diary for themselves or share their journey with a community. The language to be preferred in travel diaries is entirely up to the individual, but if shared with a community, fluency in the language to be created and the chronological order of events are of great importance.

How to write the perfect travel log?

“How to write a travel log?” It is the most logical option for travelers searching for an answer to the question to start by obtaining a notebook set first. One of the notebook sets should be divided into days directly with its pages or sections, and the travel notes for each day should be transferred to the relevant sections. Other essential features of the travel book are that it is easily portable, has a stylish structure, and is of high quality. The successful storage of the notes obtained during the trip will be possible with the travel book.

  • Flow is a significant detail in a travel diary to be created from scratch. To prepare the flow according to the route and to make the events consist of a pattern, the “chronological” order is of great importance. Just before the creation of the travel book or diary, there are various notes, photographs, sound recordings, etc., that individuals must do. It is to obtain records that will facilitate the recall of the moments put into the memory with the elements. Thanks to these records, creating the final version of a travel diary will become much more perfect.
  • Of course, every traveler takes a lot of photos during travels, and from time to time, he may not even be able to find a space to fit his photos. While preparing a travel diary, the inability to fit the images on the pages is a bigger problem than the pictures cannot be stored in the digital space. It is of great importance that the images of the days are chosen very well in the travel diaries. The most crucial photo of the day should be on the page related to that day, not to exceed a few.
  • What’s a good travel log be like? Individuals looking for an answer to the question should pay attention that photographs tell much more than words. On the other hand, it is a much better reminder of the details of that moment. Therefore, doing a little photography training before preparing a travel diary or even before traveling will improve your travel diary. Afterward, it will be straightforward to decide on the photos to be chosen while organizing a travel diary and the photos taken at critical moments and times during the trip. Then, the travel diary can obtain photographs that contain the most important and most profound meanings of the days or contain the most details and describe much more than words.
  • A street, a monument, a museum, a garden, a historical place, etc. You may have visited many places. Unfortunately, boring your diary with details while talking about these visited areas will make it difficult to read. It will disrupt the flow of the log and make it boring. Only the necessary details should be included in the travel diary to avoid such a situation.
  • Avoiding telling personal details will be one of the best moves when writing a travel journal. For example, I did my hair like this today, chose that color bag, etc. Instead of unnecessary details, more details should be given about the cultures of the places visited during the trip or the ambiance of the events at that moment. With accurate descriptions, one of the primary purposes should be to make the reader live that moment in his mind with the diary and feel himself in that journey.

To better convey the feelings or experiences you have experienced while traveling a place, you need to include the sense organs in writing. Details such as talking about the smell of the environment during the trip, indicating the condition of the air temperature, giving information about the taste of what you eat and drink, conveying the details that catch your eye, and being descriptive about the general sound of the environment are the elements that should be included in the diary when writing a travel log.

Have you learned how to write but haven’t gone anywhere yet? Then hit the road, travel, roam, and share your experience with us!

Please note that location entries may feature older photos or post card views that may not represent the current appearance, features, addresses, phone numbers, or contact names of the attraction. This site is intended to be a historical as well as current record of various attractions but it is not always possible to have up-to-date information due to the vast number of locations featured here. We ask you consult the propietor for current information.

The 14 unit Travel-Log goes back to the 1950's or 1960's and is still operating under the original name in 2022. It appears there was an addition added to the front of the building at some point. It is hard to make out on the historical aerial photo, but it looks as if part of the lot was tourist cabins. Those were eventually removed and a 2nd motel building was added as it is today in 2022. The classic old sign I saw when I went by there was removed by 2016. This motel was for sale in 1992, 2000, and 2002.

Within walking distance there is a Belorussky railway station, where you can pick the express to Sheremetyevo. The staff in the hotel is friendly and helpful. Pets are allowed, which in our case, was great benefit. Room is quite comfortable and big. I would like to take a chance and to mention that Agoda indeed gives very good rates. I couldn't find such rates even within Russian sites. even more, as I need to extend check out time till 6 p.m. I have paid almost same amount as I paid to agoda for the full day. Overall, I do recommend the Holiday Inn Lesnaya to travelers in Moscow. Value for Money - it's nearly best, but assuming you got the right rates in internet.

Room plan

Will place 2nd book for my next trip to Moscow.

We nearly had a complete bad time in Moscow during a 1-day visit to the city due to a robbery event near the Kremlin, but the hotel staff team had helped us deal with the process of police report with great speed and attention. They coordinated with the police and called for them to come to the hotel at 3 a.m. in the morning, acted as our translator, helped us through 1 hour of document filling which had to be done in Russian language, and made us feel comfortable. In the next morning when we asked for a copy of the report, they efficiently coordinated with the police and when we had to leave the country they sent us the requested copy via email within the same day. We were so impressed by the professionalism and kindness of the hotel staff to the extent that our faith in Moscow had been restored. We will never forget your help.

I had some problem during the chekc-in, because they told me they changed (arising) the tarifs the week before, but I didn't get any email of these changes neither from them or Agoda. Breakfast is good, the hotel is clean, interiors maybe a little bit "fanè, wilted", but I think for this price is pretty good for Moscow.

Our visit to Moscow was enhanced by the stay at the Borodino. It was close to Metro stations and Railway stations. So it was easy to access the city and its attractions. We have already recommended to our friends via social media and e mail. But have also recommended to Real Russia, who organised our rail tickets etc to get here. We would definitely stay again

Nabat Palace Hotel

I liked the hotel. The only complain was about the charges that i had to pay for the taxi to the airport. It was four times higher than it should have been. The hotel strangely didn't have a shuttle to the airport.

My only regret is that I didn't have more time to stay and relax more!

I got to your facility without my luggage key. Your people in housekeeping were wonderful and helped to open my bag without calling me a follis have Americian. Thanks to them for a great experience in Moscow.

Exterior view

Do not stay anywhere else in Moscow. Awesome palace/ hotel . Five minutes walk to the metro and just four stops from the red square. Huge rooms and the most friendly staff especially Vlad the conceage. Sitting in the palace outside courtyard drinking tea is the best experience ever. No need to even go outside to enjoy the lovely place. Don't think twise and book now.

The Rooms Boutique Hotel

Comfortable bed, clean shower room, convenient facilities, delicious breakfast. Regina, Rateb! Thank you.

Exterior view

Quality at every turn, from the food, decor, furnishings, bedding... They don't do many things but everything they do is executed with perfection. The polar exact opposite of chain hotels and a lesson to fussy and badly executed "boutique" hotels.

However it is also good option to stay for sightseeing and shoping purpose. Between your busy business time you can enjoy the hotel as one of Moscow landmark as it has city sky lounge to see Moscow city light. Besides it is only 2 metro station to Moscow Red Square or Arbat street wellknown as Moscow souvenir shoping centre. It is also quite easy to reach Moscow Domodedovo airport by catching the train from the station close to the hotel.

Moscow Grand Hotel

The hotel is not like a Marriott, just like a 3-star one with old and dilapidated interior, not much choice of breakfast. Really disappointed.

Meeting room / ballrooms

I was in Moscow for 6 nights. Kremlin is 12 minutes walk from the hotel. Really good night life around the area. The surrounding is very beautiful. Recommend for 1st timers to Moscow to stay at a good location like this to enjoy Moscow.

Really the VERY BEST Hotel at the VERY BEST LOCATION in Moscow, right at the Red Square and just steps away from the Kremlin and GUM. Bolshoi and most 1st class restaurants are in walking distance. Basically near all main attractions and sights in Moscow. Staffs and services all very good. Should be 1st choice to stay in Moscow. Cannot be more than perfect.

Lobby

This is one of the best hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. It was a total value for money. The location is not that great, since it's around 7-8 mins walking from the closest metro station, but the facilities and room make up for the location.

Real reviews for hotels

Great architecture. although super cold and snow = its still amazing to walk there and see exactly that.

Great food at good price... lots to see and a mix of old and new... a vibrant and interesting city.

There are 96 parks and 18 gardens in Moscow, including 4 botanical gardens. There are also 450 square kilometres (170 sq mi) of green zones besides 100 square kilometres (39 sq mi) of forests.

Moscow is a very green city. Moscow is also the heart of the Russian performing arts, including ballet and film. There are 93 theaters, 132 cinemas and 24 concert halls in Moscow. Among Moscow’s many theaters and ballet studios is the Bolshoi Theatre and the Malyi Theatre as well as Vakhtangov Theatre and Moscow Art Theatre.

I visited mid October just as the weather started turning, and it is recommended to bring appropriate warm clothing as it can be extremely cold.

The metro has many stops to get you around the city, but it might take a moment to understand how it all works. There are plenty of sights to see both inside and on the outskirts of the city. Lots of shopping available, and many cafes to enjoy food and drink. I didn't find it very busy, but then it is much more spacious than most cities. Very friendly people.

Moscow was one of the best city i have ever visited and people were freindly , the only thing i faced was the language since they do not talk English , but overall was just perfect .

Moscow is a vibrant City with plenty of restuarants and plenty of architectural buildings to see, like The Kremlin, and St.

Basils Cathredral There is a lot of walking involved when in Moscow as it is a large city.

It's better to use a service from hotel for taxi. If you call taxi by your own, you would be over charged from Moscow taxi.

They didn't use a meter.

it's a more or less a cold city, in that i mean the person is not very welcoming and not with warmth!! generally cold and without smile!!

it's very difficult to communicate in Moscow, they don't speak English, and no English sign board, I have to take metro to go everywhere at the same time read through the map, otherwise I make sure i got lost!

Nice city with many cultural sites and historical memories. My short visit was impressive (after 25 years).

People were more friendly than 25 years ago and more relaxing from my very short observation and interaction at public transport and restaurant. Nice city and will come back for cultural and historical visits.

People are calm and cool. They don't smile and with no facial expression. No one talks inside the subway.

Staff everywhere are not helpful at all. Be positive and don't get upset nor mad when ignored by the staff in tix office/conceirge. The funny thing is even though they aware that you don't speak Russian, they will still continuesly speak Russian to you blablablablabla.... Architecture are amazing and subway station is unique!

Moscow is a wonderful place to visit, there are lots go interesting place to see. Transport around the city is well, organised and on time.

By a good book and a map, where good shoes because it's huge. There are lots of reasonable places to eat and drink. Of course it's a wonderful cultural place.

Moscow is a great city. Plenty to see and do. Cheap at the moment with the Ruble to GBP rate! Excellent shopping.

Metro very easy to use.

Among the world's great cities. Very much recommended. Leave the stereotypes at home and embrace the city and the inhabitants and you will love the experience.

People in Moscow seem not to be friendly but they are actually helpful and kind. We were reluctant at the train station to buy a ticket for the metro and there was a guy gave us a hand, took us to the right ticket booth and explain us everything.

He is really kind. There are a lot of impression about people in Moscow and if we have a chance, we will definitely go back there.

Wonderful city for history and culture. The Metro stations, Alexander Garden, the Kremlin, St Basil Cathedral, Bolshoi Theatre and the architecture are all awesome.

The local people were friendly and helpful even though they didn't speak English. I had a brilliant time as a solo traveler.

- Big and cold city. - All Hotels are very expensive. - Aint good and cheap food. + Awesome underground stations.

+ A lot of pretty girls).

Moscow is a nice city, its just too expensive. The traffic take the most of your time. The best way to get to your hotel is to take an express tram from the airport to the city and then continue in a taxi.

People are very rude, they are up themselves and they expect you to speak their language.

Sales in shops, even hotel staffs and people in the city hate travelers. They willfully let you now it.

People generally do not speak one single word in English. I rent a car and drive. A police car stop me. Tell me I run a red light. As me put USD300 in his police car before let me go. Otherwise, they said that they will detain me and take away my drives license.

I like the city centre and the architecture in Moscow., but outside it is a bit messy. You can really experience the extreme of rich and poor in this city.

This is quite interesting, but besides, a bit scary for a girl who travel alone, as people looks a bit defensive.

Red square area is the only area we think we are happy for.. Apart from that, it's nothing and overestimated from advertisement.

People are mostly not friendly, they never smile, thanks or say sorry before you say.. They response to your question with an annoy feeling with the annoy face. However, we try to understand it is thier nature. Anyway, some are better, they try to help with no smile and feeling of annoy.

I loved Moscow despite everything I had heard. Red Square and the Kremlin were interesting, the National Museum was very well presented and the shops in the area (including the famous GUM) provided a delightful shopping experience if you like that type of thing.

I was lucky enough to have friends who were able to drive myself and my Mum around to show us a lot more than we could have seen otherwise (as my mother is elderly). The main drawback is the public transport is only in Cyrillic so be prepared with a translated map to figure it out if you don't speak Russian. Russians were very friendly, with several offering assistance with Mum's bags and a couple of elderly folks striking up conversation with us, despite the language barrier. Visa requirements are difficult for most travellers to Russia but well worth the effort. We did not feel unsafe, but have travelled a lot in a lot of different countries, also we were travelling in the very low season so there were not crowds to deal with. The train from St Petersburg to Moscow was very modern, comfortable and clean. If you are thinking about it - GO you will love it too.

Moscow is biggest city. For sure You should know what are U looking for and find the right places.. Amazing city.

It is a very beautiful(probably the most beautiful) city in view of the very impressive classical building styles, etc.

Citizens are very law-abiding. Weather must be one of the reasons to create a people that are quite resilient in facing life. (Russian people don't complain at all!)

It is nothing to add if everybody have a travel book. History of Moscow is very long and interesting, especially when you want to see how looks the capital of collapsed Soviet Union, how people lived in so called "building communism society".

Russian people in Moscow and St.Petersburg are very much difference but People in Moscow is worse who usually have attitude, fierce and not helpful and friendly.

You can't be relax there as there is no English sign at anything and people don't speak or try to speak in English. If you speak English with them even at the airport, they will stare at you badly. There is no tax refund like most of the country in the World. All brand name stuff is even more expensive than Hong Kong. The only attractive is Red Wall...that's it.

MOSCOW IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL CITY. THE ONLY THING THAT I CAN COMPLAIN IS THAT THE INHABITANTS ARE NOT FRIENDLY ANDIF YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH ENGLISH AS YOUR LANGUAGE, IT IS GOING TO BE HARD TO YOU .

ALL THE METRO STATIONS ARE IN THE CIRRILIC ALPHABET AND THEY HAVE NO INDICATIONS IN ENGLISH OR ANYOTHER LANGUAGE .

Moscow appeared to be trying to overcome 70 years of austerity, despite the obvious attraction of most visitors to this period of its history.

Moskwa is good city with old fashion nice metro stations. It's reflect from the buildings and cultures.

From the airport we took airport taxi to avoid 'black taxi' to the hotel. We had to prepare city map and metro map to travel in group by our selves. Some peoples couldn't speak English. Nice place to see are : Kremlin, Red Square, Kievkaya mall, river cruise tours. There were a free city tour in the city to travel around. Nice to visit Moskwa.

great City to visit, Kremlin Museums incl. Diamond Fund, Red Square and St. Basils are mandatory, Art Museums are great, walled monasteries good, Army Museum good.

Metro is best and fastest way to get around City.

i was worried about visiting Moscow alone without knowing Russian language but most people were super nice.

if you practice some basic Russian and have the map of the metro in your language, itll be fine! ;)
