Brittany Mahomes Takes ‘Big Day Trip’ with Daughter Sterling and Son Bronze — See the Photos!
The mom of two brought her kids along on a short getaway she shared in footage posted Saturday, April 6
Brittany Mahomes/Instagram
Brittany Mahomes is going on a day trip with her kids!
On Saturday, April 6, the mom of two, 28, posted sweet footage on her Instagram Stories of her on a “big day trip” with her 3-year-old daughter Sterling Skye , as her son Patrick "Bronze" Lavon III , 16 months, tagged along for the outing.
In the first video shared, which she captioned, “Mama & Sterling day,” Brittany filmed Sterling as she sat on a private plane and tucked into a croissant as they made their way to their destination.
“Cheese! Big day trip with my girl,” Brittany, who is the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes , said behind the camera.
Their trip destination was revealed in a following photo as Sterling stood outdoors at a place tagged Whitehouse City Park in Whitehouse, TX. The family came, Brittany explained, to celebrate Sterling and Bronze’s cousin’s birthday there.
“Went to mama’s old stomping grounds today to celebrate her cousin🥺🤍,” she wrote in the caption.
Sterling sported a cute and colorful outfit for the trip as she was snapped wearing a purple and white shell-printed tee and matching purple shorts, topped off with a pair of glittery bright blue heart-shaped sunglasses.

The 3-year-old was next seen joined by her cousin Lexi and a couple of other young girls in a collage of photos posted as the group gathered around her cousin’s birthday cake and hung out together.
“Happy Birthday sweet Lexi Girl🤍,” Brittany wrote in the caption, referring to her kids’ cousin.
Bronze made an appearance next alongside his mom and sister in a second video as the trio snacked on snow cones while sitting on a bench outside.
After feeding Bronze a spoonful, Brittany said, “snow cone approved.” She then panned the camera over to Sterling and laughed as she filmed her daughter taking a bite of hers while sitting beside the pair.
Sterling was snapped in a final shot from the day trip standing outdoors again as she adjusted her heart-shaped sunglasses.
“The most perfect girl in the whole wide world 🥺🤍,” proud mom Brittany added in the caption.
Brittany and Patrick welcomed their daughter Sterling, on Feb. 20, 2021, and son, Bronze on Nov. 28, 2022. The childhood sweethearts tied the knot in March 2022.

20 Tips for Preparing Your Home for an Extended Vacation
This article may contain referral links. Read our DISCLOSURE
Cummins originally sponsored this look at how to prepare your home before a vacation.
It’s the day we leave for that month-long South Pacific cruise . Alan waits in the car as I lock the front door after checking everything in the house one more time. Then I try the lock, again—and again.
Confession time: I have a hard time leaving our house for vacation, especially an extended trip. But I shouldn’t really worry, because I have Alan and he makes lists.
Tips for Preparing Your House for an Extended Vacation
Creating a list of all the tasks needed to prepare your home for vacation is the single most important travel preparation tip I can offer.
Keep a master list of every task stored on your computer or phone to print out before every trip.
Check off each task as you accomplish them, and then head off on your adventure knowing that your home is prepared.
Not sure where to start? Here are some must-haves for your extended vacation preparation checklist:
Before you leave for vacation
Household Tasks:
- Empty the dishwasher and leave it cracked open (if possible) so any standing water in the system evaporates.
- Clean out the refrigerator. In addition to throwing away food that will spoil, this is a great time to give the fridge a good cleaning.
- Run a mixture of vinegar and water through the garbage disposal so odors don’t build up.
- Empty and wash all trashcans.
- Set the thermostat to reasonable temperature. For a winter trip, set the thermostat to a low temperature, but not so low that pipes will freeze. In summer, set the thermostat to a higher temperature so the air conditioning won’t run unnecessarily.
- If you live in a cold climate, leave doors open underneath all sinks to keep pipes from freezing.
- Place the water heater on “vacation mode” setting.
- For long trips, put a trickle charge on car batteries. If rodents are a problem in the garage, place dryer sheets around the car to keep them from chewing on wires. Or plug an ultrasonic pest repeller into garage electrical outlets. They really work!
Home Safety Measures:
- Place several lights on timers (or ask the house sitter to rotate which lights are turned on, both inside and out, once or twice a week)
- Install a motion-activated floodlight in at least one location outside your home.
- Consider investing in a whole house generator to save headaches in the event of electric outages. If you’re out of town when the electricity goes out, food can spoil in the refrigerator, irrigation systems will stop watering the lawn, and automatic timers will stop turning on and off the lights that are making your home look occupied.
- Make sure smoke detectors are working properly.
- Turn off water to the interior of the house. An undiscovered water leak can result in thousands of dollars in damage. Leave faucet taps open so when you slowly turn the water system back on, pressure won’t blow out the gaskets. At the very least, turn off the water valves to sinks, dishwasher, washing machine and toilets.
While you’re away from home
Hire a house sitter (or ask a trusted friend or neighbor) to make weekly (at least) checks inside your home. They should:
- Flush all toilets so that sewer gases don’t build up, especially if your home is on a septic tank.
- Confirm mail is being held or collected.
- Make sure the irrigation system is working
- Water outdoor and indoor potted plants.
- Cut the lawn or confirm the landscape service is doing it.
- Survey the house for leaks after major rainstorms, heavy winter snows, or extreme cold weather.
- Adjust the thermostat a day before the end of your trip so you arrive to a comfortable home temperature.
Keeping a detailed list of how to prepare your home for vacation makes it easy to walk out the door. And remember, installing a generator or back-up power supply ensures your home is protected in the event of a power outage.
Prepare for the worst and have peace of mind during your trip by installing a Cummins QuietConnect home standby generator .

U.S. Department of the Treasury
Secretary of the treasury janet l. yellen to travel to the people’s republic of china.
WASHINGTON – From April 3-9, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will travel to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for bilateral meetings and other engagements.
Secretary Yellen’s visit to China will build on the intensive diplomacy she has engaged in to responsibly manage the bilateral economic relationship and advance American interests. Following initial meetings with the PRC’s new economic team last July in Beijing, Secretary Yellen met with her counterpart Vice Premier He Lifeng in San Francisco, California, in advance of President Biden’s meeting with President Xi. At Secretary Yellen and Vice Premier’s direction, both sides jointly launched Economic and Financial Working Groups , which report to the Secretary and Vice Premier, and which have met three times.
In an April 2023 speech , Secretary Yellen laid out three principles guiding America’s economic relationship with the PRC. These principals continue to guide our engagement today. The United States proceeds with confidence in our economic strength thanks to our historically strong recovery and the investments the Biden Administration is making in America’s productive capacity. In the context of this relationship, America first seeks to secure our national security interests along with those of our allies and to protect human rights. Second, we seek a healthy economic relationship with China that provides a level playing field for American workers and firms. Finally, we also seek to cooperate where we can on key bilateral and global priorities.
During her engagements in China, Secretary Yellen will advocate for American workers and businesses to ensure they are treated fairly, including by pressing Chinese counterparts on unfair trade practices and underscoring the global economic consequences of Chinese industrial overcapacity. Secretary Yellen will also work to expand bilateral cooperation on countering illicit finance, which can drive important progress on shared efforts against criminal activity such as drug trafficking and fraud. In China, the Secretary will also engage her counterparts on critical work that benefits both the United States and China, as well as the world, including work to bolster financial stability, address climate change, and resolve debt distress among developing nations.
Trip Details
On Wednesday, April 3, Secretary Yellen will depart Washington, DC for Guangzhou, the People’s Republic of China. On Thursday, April 4, she will arrive in Guangzhou.
On Friday, April 5, in the morning, Secretary Yellen will hold a roundtable discussion with economic experts to discuss challenges and opportunities in the PRC’s economy. Secretary Yellen will then meet with Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong. In the afternoon, Secretary Yellen will participate in an event with leading representatives of the American business community in China, hosted by AmCham China, and deliver remarks on the bilateral economic relationship. In the late afternoon, Secretary Yellen will begin extended bilateral meetings with Vice Premier He Lifeng.
On Saturday, April 6, Secretary Yellen will continue and then conclude a series of bilateral meetings with Vice Premier He. In the afternoon, Secretary Yellen will depart Guangzhou for Beijing.
On Sunday, April 7, Secretary Yellen will participate in a bilateral meeting with Premier Li Qiang. Later, Secretary Yellen will meet with Beijing Mayor Yin Yong. In the afternoon, Secretary Yellen will meet with students and professors at Peking University. In the evening, the Secretary will participate in a bilateral meeting with Finance Minister Lan Fo’an. While in Beijing, Secretary Yellen will also meet with leading Chinese economists.
On Monday, April 8, Secretary Yellen will meet with former Vice Premier Liu He of the People’s Republic of China. Later, she will hold a bilateral meeting with People’s Bank of China Governor Pan Gongsheng.
In the afternoon, Secretary Yellen will hold a press conference, during which she will deliver remarks discussing her trip to China. This press conference will be livestreamed here .
On Tuesday, April 9, Secretary Yellen will depart Beijing for Washington, DC. In the evening, she will arrive in Washington, DC.

- Q&A: Tips for viewing the 2024 solar eclipse
Q&A: Tips for viewing the 2024 solar eclipse
Press contact :.
Previous image Next image
On Monday, April 8, the United States will experience a total solar eclipse — a rare astronomical event where the moon passes directly between the sun and the Earth, blocking out the sun’s light almost completely. The last total solar eclipse in the contiguous U.S. was in 2017, and the next one won’t be until 2044.
If the weather cooperates, people across the United States — from northeastern Maine to southwestern Texas — will be able to observe the eclipse using protective eyewear. Those in the path of totality , where the moon entirely covers the sun, will have the best view, but 99% of people in the continental U.S. will be able to see a partial eclipse. Weather permitting, those on the MIT campus and the surrounding area will see 93 percent of the sun covered, with the partial eclipse starting at 2:15 p.m. and reaching its peak around 3:29 p.m. Gatherings are planned at the Kresge Oval and the MIT Museum , and a live NASA stream will be shown in the Building 55 atrium .
Brian Mernoff , manager of the CommLab in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, is an accomplished astrophotographer and science educator. Mernoff is headed to Vermont with his family to experience the totality from the best possible angle — but has offered a few thoughts on how to enjoy the eclipse safely, wherever you are.
Q: What should viewers expect to see and experience with this solar eclipse?
A: When you’re watching TV (the sun) and your toddler, dog, or other large mammal (the moon) blocks your view, you no doubt move over a bit to try to get a partial or full view of the TV. This is exactly how the path of totality works for an eclipse. If you are exactly in line with the moon and sun, it will be completely blocked, but if you start moving away from this path, your view of the sun will start to increase until the moon is not in the way at all.
The closer you are to the path of totality, the more of the sun will be blocked. At MIT, about 93 percent of the sun will be blocked. Those in the area will notice that things around you will get slightly darker, just like when it starts to become overcast. Even so, the sun will remain very bright in the sky and solar glasses will be required to view the entirety of the eclipse. It really goes to show how incredibly bright the sun is!
Within the narrow path of totality, the moon will continue to move across the sun, reaching 100 percent coverage. For this short period of time, you can remove your glasses and see a black disk where the sun should be. Around the disk will be wispy white lines. This is the corona, the outermost part of the sun, which is normally outshone by the sun’s photosphere (surface). Around the edges of the black disk of the moon, right as totality begins and ends, you can also see bright spots around the edges, known as Bailey’s Beads, caused by sunlight shining between mountains and craters on the moon.
But that’s not all! Although you will be tempted to stare up at the sun throughout totality, do not forget to observe the world around you. During totality, it feels like twilight. There is a 360-degree sunset, the temperature changes rapidly, winds change, animals start making different sounds, and shadows start getting weird (look into “shadow bands” if you have a chance).
As soon as totality ends, and you start to see Baily’s Beads again, put your solar glasses back on as it will get very bright again very fast as the moon moves out of the way.
Q: What are the best options for viewing the eclipse safely and to greatest effect?
A: No matter where you are during the eclipse, make sure you have solar glasses. These glasses should be ISO-approved for solar viewing. Do not use glasses with scratches, holes, or other damage.
If you are unable to obtain solar glasses in time, you can safely view the eclipse using a home-made projection method , such as a pinhole camera or even projecting the image of the sun through a colander.
The best view of the eclipse will be from within the path of totality, but even if you are not within it, you should still go outside to experience the partial eclipse. Use the NASA Eclipse Explorer to find the start, maximum, and end times, and then find a nice spot outside — preferably with some shade — put on your glasses, and enjoy the show.
For a closer view of the sun, find a friend that has a telescope with the correct ISO-certified solar filter. This will let you see the photosphere (or chromosphere if it is an H-alpha scope) in a lot more detail. If you do not have access to a telescope, NASA plans to livestream a telescope view throughout the eclipse. [The livestream will be displayed publicly on a large screen in Building 55 at MIT, rain or shine.]
The only time you can look at or image the sun without a filter is during 100 percent totality. As soon as this period is done, glasses and filters must be put back on.
After the eclipse, keep your glasses and filters. You can use them to look at the sun on any day (it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that I could use the glasses at any time instead of lugging out a telescope). On a really clear day, you can sometimes see sunspots!
Q: How does eclipse photography work?
A: This year I plan to photograph the eclipse in two ways. The first is using a hydrogen-alpha telescope. This telescope filters out all light except for one wavelength that is given off by hydrogen. Because it blocks out most of the light from the sun’s surface, it allows you to see the turbulent upper atmosphere of the sun, including solar prominences that follow magnetic field lines.
Because this telescope does not allow for imaging during totality as too much light is blocked, I also plan to set up a regular camera with a wide-angle lens to capture the total eclipse with the surrounding environment as context. During the 2017 eclipse, I only captured close-ups of the sun using a regular solar filter and missed the opportunity to capture what was going on around me.
Will it work? That depends on if we get clear skies, and how many pictures of my 1.5-year-old need to be taken (as well as how much chasing needs to be done).
If you would like to take pictures of the eclipse, make sure you protect your camera sensor. The sun can easily damage lenses, sensors, and other components. Here are some examples of solar damaged cameras . The solution is simple, though. If using a camera phone, you can take pictures through an extra pair of solar glasses, or even tape them to the phone. For cameras with larger lenses, you can buy cardboard filters that slide over the front of your camera or even buy ISO-approved solar film and make your own.
Q: Any fun, unique, cool, or interesting science facts about this eclipse to share?
A: If you want to get even more involved with the eclipse, there are many citizen science projects that plan to collect as much data as possible throughout the eclipse.
NASA is planning to run several experiments during the eclipse , and researchers with MIT Haystack Observatory will also be using four different technologies to monitor changes in the upper atmosphere , both locally and across the continent.
If you are interested in learning more about the eclipse, here are two of my favorite videos, one on “ unexpected science from a 0.000001 megapixel home-made telescope ” and one on solar eclipse preparation .

‘I wanted the 17-hour trip to go slower, not faster’: readers’ favourite European journeys
The excitement of the voyage itself grabbed our tipsters as they delighted in riding trains, ferries and buses across Europe to as far afield as Norway and Turkey
Ferry through the fjord, Albania
Instead of a four-hour road trip from Koman to Fierzë, relax and enjoy the Albanian fjords via the Drin River. We reversed on to the Berisha ferry , which takes 10 cars, plus foot passengers. Everyone sits on deck, regardless of the weather, to take in the views, which began with an incredibly straight white line high in the rock, showing the water level during the rainy season. The scenery was magnificent with forest-clad hills and high, rocky mountains with various coloured strata. Occasionally, a remote, isolated house could be seen. After two hours, we began spotting small tourist boats and hardy kayakers before arriving at Fierzë. Roy Messenger
High ride on the bus, Montenegro-Croatia
The scenic bus journey from Podgorica to Dubrovnik unveils a tapestry of natural Balkan splendour. After filling up on Njeguški steak and black risotto in the Montenegrin capital, it’s a blissful trip winding through rugged landscapes, the vistas of Kotor Bay being one of many highlights. Serpentine roads hug the coastline, offering glimpses of azure waters against cliffs adorned with lush greenery. The hues of the Adriatic Sea contrast with the earthy tones of the coast. The finale is Dubrovnik ’s ancient walls coming into view, welcoming visitors with its timeless charm and allure. Everly
Cycling adventures on Norway’s Lofoten Islands
The mountains of the Lofoten Islands in the Norwegian Arctic Circle are ideal for exploring by bike as you pass between them rather than over them. I’ve never seen such striking serrated peaks from a bicycle – and with such little effort. Bridges linking the islands add to the interest. I started at Svolvær and finished at the southern tip of the archipelago at Å, the prettiest of the villages, all with red wooden houses and, invariably, racks of cod hanging out to dry. You can put your bike on the bus for the return journey. Paul Kirkwood

White night delight on a Scandi ferry ride
One leisurely romantic trip I enjoyed last summer was an open-air deck passage across the Baltic Sea from Helsinki to Stockholm. Even better, the route is part of Interrail, so there is 30% off the €95 one-way fare on Tallink ferries. I was lucky enough to take it in June, so watched the sun set at 3am, and then rise a couple of hours later. This time in Scandinavia is known as “white nights”. To be on the water watching the setting sun cast its rays on the waves and the moonlight play with the ripples as a ship glides towards its destination, land lights twinkling in the distance, is magical. I wanted the 17-hour journey to go slower, not faster! Ann
Following Theroux’s tracks across Europe to Istanbul
On a quest to replicate the European leg of Paul Theroux’s The Great Railway Bazaar, I travelled from the suburbs of Manchester to Istanbul. Using an Interrail global pass , I attempted to follow the route of the Venice Simplon-Orient Express. Slow trains, fast trains, communist-era trains and graffiti-covered trains got me to my destination (plus a small detour by bus). With stops in Lausanne and Zagreb and an overnight train from Sofia, I skirted the lakes of Geneva and Maggiore, drank a cool beer in alpine Austria and kept my head down through dystopian-feeling Serbia. I marvelled at the pastel yellow stations of Croatia and felt the wonderful glow as I walked out of Sirkeci station into the wild throb of Istanbul. Lee Hanvey
Lazing our way across the Aegean for market day
When I was on holiday in Kos last summer I treated my parents to a ferry trip to Datça in Turkey for the day. It was a 3 1/2 -hour (about €30) return trip. Chugging out of Kos harbour, the pleasant breeze on the Aegean, was welcome, taking the heat off scorching temperatures as we sat outside. Pulling into Datça, I was immediately knocked over by the serene harbour, hillside houses and white boats moored bobbing on the water. It was market day so we enjoyed a whiff of exotic local spices and were invited to drink brewed Turkish tea by sellers who were happy to chat to us and offer us figs and dates. One seller even gave us a lift back to the ferry in his open truck to help us carry a hand-woven rug we’d bought. A beautiful sun set and some simit (a twisted bread with sesame seeds), cheese and olives we’d been given helped the return trip pass peacefully. April
The best Belgrade train trip Bar none
The train trip from Belgrade to Bar must be one of the slowest in Europe, taking 11 hours to cover 296 miles, but to compensate it took me through some of the most dramatic scenery I’ve ever seen. Passing through deep gorges, canyons and mountain peaks, the train crossed more than 400 bridges and seemed to stop at every village. At one point it was overtaken by an old lady on a donkey. It’s best in summer when long daylight hours will allow you to appreciate its beauty. Peter
To Tropea, Italy, on the Coast of the Gods line
The train line from Pizzo to Reggio Calabria follows the Coast of the Gods, named for its turquoise seas, sheltered coves and rocky scenery. The train calls at Tropea (a town founded by Hercules in Greek mythology, that is more famous for onions), the castle and pretty beach of Scilla (of Scylla and Charybdis) and Reggio (home to lifesize ancient Greek bronze statues). Calabria makes a virtue of cucina povera , with wonderful vegetable dishes, and the local Bergamotto liqueur makes a great spritz. Sally
Winning tip: Bicycles, birds and beaches in Vlieland, the Netherlands
Two ferries to a car-free paradise. After boarding the Newcastle ferry to Amsterdam, I headed straight for the sun deck for a G&T. In Harlingen, farther north, another ferry took me in 1½ hours to the island of Vlieland. I cycled through the dunes to its endless sandy beaches. I enjoyed Kroon’s Polders, a birder’s heaven, where I spotted many spoonbills and a host of other birds. It’s so quiet. The small island has lots of cycle paths and the only village, Oost-Vlieland, has restaurants; Herbergh van Flielant was my favourite. Monique Gadella

Getting to Moscow
At Moscow, 4 main airports are Sheremetyevo, Southeast Domodedovo, Southwest Vnukovo and the only Russian commercial airport Ostafyevo. The Aeroexpress train is the fastest undoubted way to reach the city center in just 35 to 45 minutes to take passengers off by the metro line. From Moscow Airport it’s very convenient to get to the city as it’s transport networks are one of the best.
The flights to Moscow ie, to Domodedovo Airport, to Transaero Airport and Sheremetyevo from the UK, are operated by British airways. From London Heathrow, all flights from Britain to Moscow depart. Airline companies like Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, British Airways are some of the major ones that operate from the UK to Moscow Airport. The airport is around 25 miles from Moscow City, which is linked by express train to both airports. The two companies that offer direct flights to Moscow from the USA are Aeroflot and Delta Airlines. There are many options with layovers such as Swiss Air, KLM, Lufthansa, Air Malta, Air France, etc.
Note that when you take a taxi from the airport to the center which is the usual fare of 1.800-2.000 Rbl, you shouldn't be bullied by the taxi touts on 4.000 Rbl. It is fair around 1800Rbl.
Tip: If you stay in Moscow for more than a few days, you are advised to take a Troika card, which is available at subway stations. It operates on all transport types and provides a little cheaper than Edina.

Dining out in Moscow
Russia is turning to the manufacturing of local produce and reinventing traditional products. There are many restaurants in the city some of them being soviet canteens, glamorous upmarket establishments and family-run restaurants. If you're prepared to try the traditional dishes of Russia, here's what you should try to find in Moscow.
The standard Russian pancakes, Blini are wafer-thin, similar to crepes. They are made of wheat and buckwheat meal and are served with honey, sour cream, butter, and caviar, whether they're sweet or delicious.
The doughnuts of Moscow can be packed with sweet food but are always served hot and with powdered sugar. This is nostalgic for many Russians because it's simple to produce and normal convenience. If you love soups, you cannot miss the Cabbage soup that has existed since the 9th century and is typically used in summer to reflect a major component of Russian culture.
Tip: Georgian food is one of Moscow's most popular dishes along with wine. Consider looking for different restaurants, as well as local cafes, where you can consider tasty, fresh food without having to spend much.
